A Muslim Ban By Another Name Is Still A Muslim Ban

This op-ed piece was originally published on Huffington Post. Used by permission

(AllHipHop Editorial) On Monday, President Trump signed his new Executive Order (without fanfare this time), and instead had Attorney General Sessions, Secretary of State Tillerson and Homeland Security Secretary Kelly roll it out to the public. The revised “travel ban” is pretty similar to the first one, except that Iraq is no longer on the list, current visa and green-card holders are exempt, the preference for religious minorities is excluded and the indefinite ban on Syrian refugees is eliminated.

In other words, it is a softer, more legally sound piece of legislation that on the surface appears like some sort of shift from the initial ban, but don’t be fooled, this is still very much the same draconian Muslim ban.

For a President, an administration and a party that regularly denounces political correctness, this sure is the most politically correct way of beginning a ban on Muslims. Guess they just don’t have the courage to say what it really is ― so I will.

By now, everyone the world over is likely familiar with Trump’s campaign promise calling for a “total and complete shutdown” of Muslims entering the country. Those words didn’t just slip out of his mouth, and he didn’t misspeak, though he attempted to backtrack later by stating that it was going to apply to countries with a history of terrorism and that we were going to have “extreme vetting.”

He and his handlers knew exactly what they were doing. And more importantly perhaps, they knew that they could get away with it. This didn’t happen overnight and it didn’t start with Trump. He just seized upon what was already festering out there for years and ran with it – all the way to the highest office in the land.

It’s not accurate to dismiss all Trump supporters as Islamophobes, or act as if this president and this administration are the only Islamophobic entities out there ― the problem is much larger than that. Some of his supporters said they simply “look the other way” when Trump makes his anti-Muslim comments (or other outrageous comments for that matter). While that is a pathetic way to excuse xenophobia, they are not the only ones that do it.

Exhibit A: Bill Maher. A self-proclaimed liberal who “stands for liberal causes,” Maher has made anti-Islamic propaganda a staple of his weekly show, Real Time, to the point where one would think he’s getting a cut from the multi-million dollar Islamophobia industry.

How many liberals/progressives have had the courage to call him out? How many still go on his show or bring him on their own broadcasts and just “look the other way” when he goes there?

When elected official after elected official passed or attempted to pass “anti-Sharia laws,” as if Sharia was somehow invading and overtaking the Constitution, how many still voted for those candidates or worked alongside them and just looked the other way? And when the abhorrent idea of banning Muslims was first proposed by then-candidate Trump, how many journalists and networks ran with it for its sensational quality and thereby normalized such an outrageous concept?

Gen. Michael Flynn had referred to Islam as a “malignant cancer”; he became National Security Advisor (though he later had to resign, but that’s a separate story). Muslim students in Oklahoma recently tried to meet their State Rep. John Bennett but were instead handed a questionnaire at his office that asked such thought-provoking questions like, “Do you beat your wife?” Can you imagine if such a questionnaire were handed to any other group of students before an elected official agreed to meet with them? Neither can I.

Day in and day out you have talking heads, pundits and Islamophobes inundating our airwaves spreading misinformation and propaganda and nobody holds them accountable. People like Sean Hannity sit on their soapbox and attempt to portray all Muslim countries as homogeneous, backward places where women can’t drive and they have no rights. It is overt deception and the epitome of creating hysteria – and he gets away with it every single day. Then on supposed mainstream outlets, Muslims are still almost always discussed in the context of terrorism, war, extremism, etc. And everyone seems to just “look the other way.”

Fear-mongering brought us legislation like the Patriot Act, troubling provisions under the NDAA, Gitmo, torture, NSA spying and unnecessary wars like Iraq. The idea of the proverbial “Muslim boogeyman” is what allowed people to just ignore or look the other way when President Obama exponentially increased and expanded the drone campaign in places like Pakistan, Yemen and elsewhere, as well as covert actions in a host of countries.

Islamophobia is why Muslims are often strategically boxed out of high-level positions and entire smear campaigns are run against them if they seek political office. It is why alleged progressive politicians will be quick to jump on the #standwithaMuslim bandwagon, but will rarely, if ever, hire a Muslim themselves or promote one to a significantly visible position within their own staff. It is why newsrooms at most major networks and publications usually lack a strong Muslim voice to bring balance. The difference between Republicans and Democrats is often akin to the old debate about the north vs. the south: do you prefer someone to be in your face with their bigotry, or more subliminal by smiling in your face and still shutting you out?

There’s no denying that Muslim Ban 2.0 is precisely that – a test run on banning Muslims. When the only countries banned are Muslim-majority, then it is pretty clear what message is being sent. The idea that not all Muslims are banned somehow makes this Executive Order okay is such a farce. That argument is so baseless and pitiful that it should never even see the light of day. It’s like arguing that an employer who discriminates against female employees isn’t doing anything wrong because they aren’t discriminating against every woman on the planet. Bottom line: you don’t need to ban all Muslims or discriminate against every single Muslim in order to discriminate against that group. To act as if this isn’t a Muslim ban is an insult to every Muslim and thinking person for that matter.

Trump and his surrogates have been very clear on where they stand. After the botched rollout of the first ban, they figured out what tweaks they needed to make in order to get this pushed through. This legislation is a false sense of security and all it does is solidify Islamophobia into law. It is the beginning of a dangerous, slippery slope. There is even a section of the order that states that additional countries can be added as “deemed necessary for the security or welfare of the United States.” Who knows what this could lead to. And who’s to say that other previously unimaginable harsh measures won’t be taken against American Muslims down the line? Remember, during his confirmation hearing, Secretary Tillerson never completely ruled out a Muslim registry (he basically dodged the question).

The first Executive Order was effectively stopped by the 9th circuit court of appeals after intense pushback from attorneys and the public who rallied to the side of Muslims instantaneously. It was a beautiful moment when people from all walks of life marched, sat in airports and stood in solidarity with the Muslim community. The question going forward will be, are we going to see such sustained momentum? Monday’s announcement didn’t spur the same massive protests, and at Tuesday’s White House press briefing, not one journalist asked Press Secretary Spicer about the ban. No journalist asked him Wednesday either.

Have people already begun to look the other way? I sure hope not, because no matter how much they may try to make it politically and legally correct, a Muslim ban by another name is still very much a Muslim ban.

(AllHipHop Rumors) The Rem Nick beef just keeps getting messier and messier. LOL.

Well it looks like real Hip Hop fans, and the internet as a whole aren’t feeling Nicki Minaj’s late Remy Ma diss/response track, and Nicki’s ex, Safaree, hasn’t been able to keep quiet about the two female’s rap beef, as well as his past relationship with Minaj lately.

Following Nicki’s release of “No Frauds” last night, Twitter fingers Safaree took to the social media network to offer someone some music advice.

“Stop letting these producers come and give u structured songs that dont sound like you then you add a 12bar rap to it #nevausetoworklikethat”

“The hardest sh-t was never tainted by anybody else… take it how yall want… #stuntgang,” said Safaree

Although Safaree didn’t @ anyone, Twitter users felt like he was talking to Nicki, and immediately let him have it.

Safaree basically said that a certain someone’s records weren’t up to the gold standard that they use to be. As you know Safaree still maintains that he wrote all of Nicki’s lyrics. How do you think Nicki’s forthcoming album will sound? How did you feel about her diss track “No Frauds?”

Diddy’s Former Security Guard Shares Why Biggie Kept It A Secret That He Was Writing For Lil Kim

(AllHipHop Rumors) Grab a chair, Diddy’s former bodyguard, Gene Deal, is back at it again with some ’90s Bad Boy stories.

Gene says he told Diddy one time that Biggie was the one who was writing Lil Kim’s lyrics after Biggie tried to suggest that Gene knocked off some guy down in North Carolina, in a tell-all conversation.

Deal said Biggie tried to deny and downplay that he was writing Kim’s lyrics. Gene said he didn’t understand why Big was trying to deny it at first.

According to Gene, he says that eventually Biggie was like,

“Yeah Diddy, aight Diddy, whatever Diddy.”

Puff supposedly kept asking BIG who had been writing for Kim. Deal says that he later learned from reading Biggie’s contract that Diddy owned parts of Biggie’s marketing, and parts of his publishing. So he says at that time if he owned Biggie’s publishing he was getting a piece of whatever Biggie wrote, and this is why Biggie was trying to keep it a secret.

Deal said BIG never confirmed in that moment if he ghostwrote for Kim other than a “yeah, and okay.”

Deal says he’s also still trying to put out his murder rap documentaries as well. Are you surprised by Deal’s claims? This man has been telling everything lately. Do you believe all of his claims? Folks are honestly surprised that Deal hasn’t been harmed in anyway lately. Do you think he’d be quiet if Puff cut him a fat check?

Grandmaster Melle Mel and Grandmaster Caz Building A Studio For Next Generation In The Bronx

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop pioneers Grandmaster Caz and Grandmaster Melle Mel took over a Bronx elementary school last week, as principals.

The two founding fathers of Hip-Hop pulled double duty, as rappers and heads of Community School 55, in their hometown of the South Bronx earlier this week.

The legendary rappers mentored the children during their time at Community School 55, but they are doing considerably more than talking, to advance the students.

Caz and Melle Mel are board members Windows of Hip-Hop.

They will help with the construction of a state-of-the-art recording studio in the school, in conjunction the organization.

“We will be able to edit music, record music and really take our students to a whole new level,” said Community 55’s Principal, Luis Torres.

The students at the Community 55 elementary school are extremely excited to have the recording studio, in addition to having the chance to work with Grandmaster Caz and Grandmaster Melle Mel.

The studio at Community 55 is slated to open later this year.

Chicago Gangster Who Blew $25 Million Said “F Rap” & Only Listened To Classical Music When Blasting Rivals

(AllHipHop News) A man in Chicago who was exonerated of murder after being convicted as a young teen is back in the headlines.

Thaddeus Jimenez, who is a member of the Simon City Royals, was just 14-years-old when he was convicted of shooting and killing a 19-year-old in Chicago, back in 1993.

First, the teenager was locked up first in a juvenile detention center and then sent to an adult prison, where he served almost 16 years in prison.

However, Jimenez was freed in 2013 and eventually won a $25 million judgment against the city, after flaws in his original trial were uncovered and new witnesses came forth, to identify a different triggerman.

Regrettably, Jimenez has used most of his money to rebuild his Simon City Royals gang.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Jimenez would pay gang members $50,000 in recruitment bonuses, in addition to doling out cash to gang members who wore the gang’s logo tattooed on their faces.

In addition to buying his gang members luxury vehicles like Range Rovers and Porsches, Jimenez wasted a good portion of his money bonding other gangsters out of jail for various crimes.

When the gang was on the hunt for rivals, they reportedly refused to listen to rap music.

“As a female singer belted out an aria, Roman explained how opera was their music of choice when looking for targets to shoot, unlike other ‘wannabe rappin’-ass n—as.'”

Jimenez is currently on trial for his role in a gang-related shooting in August of 2015.

Jimenez and a Simon City Royals gang member named Jose Roman were cruising the streets, looking for a mark, when they ran into an old associate named Earl Casteel.

During a video Roman taped of the shooting, he “explained how opera was their music of choice when looking for targets to shoot, unlike other ‘wannabe rappin’-ass n—as.,’” according to the Chicago-Sun Times.

When Casteel went to the side of Jimenez’ droptop Mercedes-Benz, Roman shot him in the legs, without provocation.

Casteel eventually won a $6 million verdict, while both Jose Roman and Thaddeus Jimenez facing is facing up to 10 years in prison for his role in the crime.

Additionally, the Chicago Sun-Times reports that he has blown his entire $25 million settlement, but he’s allegedly still running the Simon City Royals gang from jail.

Did Meek Mill Respond To Nicki Minaj Reconnecting With Drake For “No Frauds”?

(AllHipHop News) Meek Mill has remained mostly quiet as the Nicki Minaj versus Remy Ma battle played out.

A week ago, the Philadelphia native even shared an Instagram post with the caption, “meek don’t say sh-t.”

Since that time, Meek’s ex Minaj dropped a new record titled “No Frauds” featuring his rival Drake.

The track appeared to contain more Drizzy lyrics directed at the Dreamchasers leader.

Not long after “No Frauds” was released Meek uploaded a couple of Instagram posts that could be taken as a response to Minaj and Drake’s latest collaboration.

One photo features Meek sitting in a Rolls-Royce Wraith with a smirk on his face.

The caption was simply the “?” emoji, which typically signifies being emotionless.

He followed that with an IG post of audio from Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs’ rant on The Notorious B.I.G.’s “My Downfall.”

Puff can be heard saying:

Y’all motherf-ckers live off of negativity. What y’all n-ggas need to get through your motherf-cking heads is that, y’all f-cking with some n-ggas that’s on a higher motherf-cking level. We don’t give a f-ck about what you think about us, how you feel about us, what you got to say about us. We gon keep doing our motherf-cking thing. From now till the year three thousand b-tches!

The clip’s caption read, “Mood….. forever.”

Lady Luck Says Remy Ma Has Been Hating On Nicki Minaj For A While

(AllHipHop Rumors) It’s fair to say that even with Nicki Minaj’s late response, she still lost this one.

As you know everyone under the sun has been weighing in on the Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma beef.

Lady Luck still seemingly has a bit of light animosity towards Remy Ma as the two previously battled in a few of the most high-profiled female rap battles. Because of this, she wasn’t one to bite her tongue on her thoughts about the female emcee beef.

According to Lady Luck, Remy Ma is still wack and she can’t “ride beats.” She also feels like Remy’s “ShETHER” diss was a track of dope insults, but she felt like Remy’s delivery was poor and she sounded like she was out of breath and reading a piece of paper.

Lady Luck also highlighted something else! She claims that Remy Ma has had it out for Nicki Minaj since she was in jail, so it seems like Remy was just looking for an opportunity to bust at Nicki! She also claims that all female rappers hated on Nicki at one point.

“First of all, she’s been sick that Nicki been hot since she was in jail. I’m not going to lie, I was salty too back in the day until I found Jesus and God said be happy for yourself. But, we all was. Shut up female rappers. All of us were mad at Nicki and especially cause she wasn’t f##### with nobody either. We was all banding together. We was all mad at you Nicki. Remy been throwing shots since she was in jail. Then you come out, waiting and throwing shots at her on different songs. My man was in the studio when she was recording one of their songs and Fat Joe told her to chill. She been trying to come for Nicki head. This is not nothing new………. It’s not an obsession, it’s just you’re mad about who is hot. It just makes sense. She was just waiting for a minute. Even if Nicki been throwing subliminals cause you’ve thrown like seventeen. And now you release an eight-minute record about the b-tch? And then you release “Another One” cause you wasn’t done?”

What are your thoughts? Who is the better female emcee between the three?

A Conversation With Raekwon On ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 3’, ODB’s Classic Grammy Moment & Next Wu-Tang Clan Album

(AllHipHop Features) In part two of my conversation with Raekwon, the Hip Hop legend addresses whether his upcoming The Wild album could possibly be followed by a third installment in the Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… series.

The original LP hit store shelves in 1995 and has gone on to be regularly cited as a seminal body of work by rap enthusiasts. It’s 2009 sequel was well-received by the culture as well.

Besides the potential of a Cuban Linx 3, there has also been chatter that another Wu-Tang Clan project is in production. Raekwon’s OB4CL co-star Ghostface Killah announced he was steering the effort.

The Chef shares his thoughts about the next Wu album during our discussion. Rae also reflects on fan love, Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s classic Grammy moment, and his lofty musical legacy.

I know you’re focused on The Wild right now, but you’ve talked about maybe doing a third Cuban Linx. Is that still the plan?

If it happens, it happens. Right now, I can’t see the future. But it may happen when it’s time. It just gotta make sense to me and my world. I feel like if it’s going to come, you guys will be the first ones to know. Part 2 bust my ass. I ain’t gonna front because it was challenging at that time. The record took a long time to really get to that level.

Was it because of the name?

It was definitely because of the name. That record is looked at as one of the top 5 greatest albums of all time on the Hip Hop side of things. I didn’t want to go in there, just do anything and call it that. Rae is never going to do that when it comes to doing trilogies.

I see right now that they’re trying to do Scarface over. That’s like doing Cuban Linx over, in my eyes. It’s like, “Okay, what are y’all going to do? Who is going to play the roles?” That sh-t has to be serious because if you f-ck it up you’re going to disappoint people.

It’s the same feeling. So if I do it, it would be over after that. There won’t be no Cuban Linx 5 and all this sh-t. I’m the type of n-gga to just do one, two, and three – if we get to three. I doubt that we may do it because I always want to do it the best I can do it. I’m not there right now. I’m here right now.

Do you have to be in a certain mindset for that particular persona?

Yeah, that’s like envisioning the drug world again. We’ll see. I love those kinds of movies, because I call them movies. At the end of the day, you never know.

Speaking of movies, did you hear about the Bill Murray/Wu-Tang hoax?

Nah, I never heard of that.

There was a rumor going around that when Martin Shkreli bought the Wu-Tang album [Once Upon A Time In Shaolin] there was a clause in the contract that said the only way anyone could get the album was if Bill Murray and members of Wu-Tang steal the album from Shkreli. It flew around the internet and people believed it was true.

Nah, I never heard about that. I had no knowledge of that.

Now they’re thinking about turning that rumor into a musical.

[laughs] See why I tell you we’re living in “the wild” right now?

The Grammys were on recently, and it made me think about that classic Ol’ Dirty Bastard moment.

God bless him. That’s my heart.

He actually “Kanye’d”  an award show before Kanye was even around. Were you there that night?

When he rushed the stage? I was there. That was the funniest sh-t in the world. It was like I was embarrassed but at the same time, I loved it. Because he’s the type of dude that would do that. Do you remember that commercial where they say, “Mikey likes it!”? Mikey just don’t care. It was classic.

It was a fun time. [ODB] and Sticky [Fingaz] from Onyx got together. Me and Sticky even talked about it later on. He told me, “Rae, I was the n-gga that gassed him to do it.” I said, “You was the n-gga that did it?” He was like, “Word.” We were just laughing.

When Dirty feels that he wants to do something, he’s going to do it. That day he was clean. His braids were official. He had on a nice suit. He spent some bread, and he made it his business to be seen. That’s how he always is. He’s always been the type of individual that’s not shy. He’s straight up.

There had been times when we had rehearsals, and we’re sitting in front of a bunch of people, business executives, and owners. He’d come in with his crazy ass attitude and make everybody laugh. The next thing you know, he’d brighten the room up with his realness. That’s how he always was.

The Wu has a very devoted fan base. Do you have a memorable moment with a diehard Wu-Tang Clan fan?

I would say the most memorable moments are when you see the fans get those tattoos of the “W” on them. Recently, I saw a fan with a picture of me on his arm. I respected it so much because he’s gonna die with that, I assume. Maybe he might take it off next year if he don’t like me no more. [laughs]

To me, it’s one of the biggest things to see people brand our logo on their skin or name their children after us. That’s enough for me to invite you to dinner and just chill with you. Now you’ve become like a brother or sister to me when I see things like that.

I love my legends with the same passion, but I never thought about putting a tattoo on me. That to me is respect and shows they understand our story. That’s memorable to me. It makes me feel like, “Damn Rae, you really went from the bottom up. You touched people like how Martin Luther King changed the world. You changed the world in so many ways.” It’s a great feeling.

You worked with J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League for The Wild. They sent out a tweet saying after they worked with you, they began working on the next Wu album. Have you recorded anything for that album?

I didn’t record anything yet. I think the production side of things is still being built. I think they’re working on it, but it hasn’t hit my desk yet. We’ve been scattered and doing different things.

But I did get some wind of it that they were sending production through the pipelines to see what’s going on. I know it’s going to be dope. I can’t wait to hear it.

Is Ghostface still spearheading that project?

Yes, that’s something that he was definitely passionate about. I got his back 100 percent on whatever it may be. Even though he may be spearheading it, we’re all still going to put our input on it. It’s just good to know he’s passionate in that department when it comes to wanting to do it.

We all got each other’s back. We’re all going to put our foot in it at some point to make it even iller. It’s gotta be super ill. So get ready.

It seems like the level of respect for 90’s era Hip Hop has increased even more recently. Fat Joe and A Tribe Called Quest had big years last year. These guys came out in the early 90’s. Then you have The Breaks on VH1 which is based on that same time period. At the time you were living it, did you realize that you guys were making something that would be talked about and revisited for decades?

It wasn’t 100 percent accurate that would be what it was. I guess we were so passionate about what we stood on that we believed we would be around forever, and it just panned out that way.

But it’s all about what you put into the business and how you add on. I think the guys you said – they’ve been adding on for so long. Not only being successful but also giving others help. That stretches out your brand too.

The guys you named have been around because they stayed attached to the business. They supported the artists. Look at Joe. He was the one that discovered DJ Khaled. Look at where Khaled is today. I’m proud of Khaled for going where he’s gone with his music and becoming a master at what he’s good at.

So I guess when we’re saying things like, “we’re gonna be around for a while,” it’s because of the passion that we have for what we’re doing. We’re all former hustlers in the streets. To be able to get away from that and find a new hustle – which is this music – that’s beautiful.

Every artist wants to be able to have that kind of run. It’s a great feeling, but we couldn’t have called it back then all the way. We only went with our hearts. Sometimes that’s what you gotta do. Just go with your heart. Nobody else has to feel it, but if you feel it, that’s all that counts.

Nicki Minaj Offers Remy Ma $500,000 To Drop A Hit Song In 72 Hours

(AllHipHop News) After the world waited two weeks to hear Nicki Minaj respond to Remy Ma’s diss track “ShETHER,” the Young Money star is now giving her rival 72 hours to come back at her with a hit record.

Nicki released three new songs overnight, one of which was a track called “No Frauds” featuring Drake and Lil Wayne.

The cut included a single Nicki verse that was directed at Rem.

“Diss records can’t be lies. Great diss records are FACTS. But here [at] Young Money, we don’t do diss records, we drop HIT RECORDS & diss u ON them. I got a bunch more on c###,” wrote Minaj.

“Now I got a countdown of my own for Sheneneh. U got 72 hours to drop a hit and I’ll give u half a million dollars if u can book ANY show or interview [without] mentioning the Queen name,” posted Minaj.

Quavo Says Doing A Record With Frank Ocean Closes The Case On Controversial iLoveMakonnen Comments

(AllHipHop News) Migos found themselves in hot water after comments attributed to the Atlanta group were viewed by some as homophobic.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, Migos member Quavo was quoted responding to the news fellow Atlanta native iLoveMakonnen revealed he was gay by saying, “Damn, Makonnen! They supported him?”

He also questioned Makonnen’s supposed history of selling drugs because of his homosexuality.

The “Bad & Boujee” performers later issued a statement claiming they “are fans of Makonnen’s music” and “love all people, gay or straight.”

They also apologized if they offended anyone.

Quavo again addressed the situation in a cover story for Billboard.

The publication reads:

Talking to Quavo, it’s clear he’s not outright homophobic. “If you real from the heart, you real from the heart,” he says. “That ain’t got nothing to do with no sex or gender. It’s 2017, and we all living.” But he still doesn’t quite seem to get it. “When [Makonnen’s] music came out I thought it was hard, so if he would’ve come out the same way…” He pauses. “I got a record with Frank Ocean [“Slide,” a Calvin Harris track featuring Migos and Ocean]. That closes my case.”

Ocean came out as bisexual in a 2012 Tumblr post.

Eminem Is Dropping Some New Clothing With Carhartt This Weekend

(AllHipHop News) Detroit rapper Eminem is advancing his partnership with Carhartt, which will end up benefitting local students aiming to get into the music business.

Last November, Eminem announced a collaboration with Carhartt and created the E13 clothing brand.

A limited run of the clothing line was introduced on Black Friday, and now the E13 brand is showcasing more exclusive products.

Starting this weekend, Carhartt’s flagship store in Detroit, Michigan will carry a new batch of clothing.

The latest releases include a black hoodie, a black T-shirt, and a black baseball cap, emblazoned with the signature E13 logo, which pays respect to Detroit’s 313 area code.

The new gear in Eminem’s E13 line with Carhartt goes on sale exclusively on March 13, at the Carhartt store in Detroit.

All proceeds will benefit Michigan State University’s Verses Project.

Funkmaster Flex Calls Nicki Minaj’s “No Frauds” Trash, Says Remy Ma Came Out The Winner

(AllHipHop News) Funkmaster Flex has been one of the leading voices calling out Nicki Minaj for not responding to Remy Ma’s “ShETHER” diss track.

Now that Nic has fired back with “No Frauds” with Drake and Lil Wayne, the Hot 97 DJ is still taking issue with Minaj.

Flex posted a picture of Nicki’s ex-boyfriend Meek Mill on Instagram with a caption that reads, “The face u make when your ex jumps on a track with your enemy and it’s trash!”

Over on Twitter, Flex also shared his thoughts on Nicki’s latest clapback at Rem as well.

“Keep it a buck… I give her respect for responding with bars…. but [Nicki Minaj] didn’t come out the winner of this battle!” wrote Funk Flex.

However, he did give credit to Nicki Minaj and Drake for responding to opponents on radio friendly songs.

“Hella smart!” replied Flex to a tweet from Deion Sanders Jr where he mentioned the Young Money artists create diss tracks that will be replayed for years.

Who makes these….

Papoose And Remy Are About To Go Ham On Nicki Minaj..Drake And Wayne!

(AllHipHop Rumors) You know this is about to get very, very messy. It seems like Remy Ma and Papoose (The Beast From The East) are going to do a lyrical drive by on Nicki Minaj that will try to take out Drake and Wayne too! Whoa. And they are seemingly calling them all Culture Vultures. Now, is Nicki that? Wayne? Drake? I don’t know, but it appears they are going to take that position.

I have not heard the three new Nicki songs, but they are not getting a great response from the Hip-Hop community. I hope the songs are good, but it seems that they lack that special sauce when it comes to rapping and battling. That’s me being nice.

Lets see what these two Black Lovers have to say. Pap has been itching to get in this from day one, allegedly. Clearly, these guys have a way of dealing with rap beef and Young Money has another way. So…the plot thickens.

Can Remy and Pap win this? Or have they already won? What are we doing? This is weird!

#AHHPowerfulWomen: Music Executive, Kelly Jackson Proves That the Grind Shall Set You Free

#AHHPowefulWomen Kelly

“If you do the work and the grind, the person that you want to talk to is going to find you” –Kelly Jackson

Very early on, music executive, Kelly Jackson, also known as Kelly Kinkaid, understood her purpose. When taking the leap of faith into the entertainment industry, she made the decision to never compromise who she was or take shortcuts to get to where she wanted to be. The Michigan native symbolizes what the power of experience, knowledge, and networking, can do to create your own lane and how always staying true to yourself is the best form of power.

Through faith and fearlessness, Kelly developed an extensive resume working for companies like Columbia Records, Epic Records, TreMedia, V.Brown & Co., and StepSon Music/Tommy Boy. She’s also amassed a client list that includes the legendary Paul Mooney, Deborah Cox, Lil Scrappy, Jim Jones, OJ Da Juiceman, Saigon, Locksmith, DJ Jazzy Joyce and MTV news senior correspondent & SiriusXM personality, Sway Calloway. Jackson is currently the supervising producer for Sway In The Morning Show and Managing Partner at Overdeliver Ent.

Allhiphop.com had the pleasure of speaking with Kelly about her journey through the industry with the highs and lows of owning her power, womanhood, and expertise within the intense male-dominated world of entertainment and Hip-Hop.

AllHipHop: Could you describe your journey a bit? How did you get to where you are now?

Kelly Jackson: Well, I’m a native of Flint, Michigan. I went to Jackson State University, which was a great experience, so I always knew more was to come in life. I had an opportunity to move to New York, although it was never in my plans– it was in God’s plan. Since I’ve always been a go-getter and entrepreneur at my core, I got a full-time job and juggled multiple record labels internships when I first moved to New York, just for the experience. One thing I had to realize on my journey was to understand that it’s not a sprint, but it’s a marathon and when I finally realized that and understood everything happens for a reason…I was good. Today, I know I am still a student and still learning, but everything I’ve experienced on this journey has made me who I am.

AllHipHop: What was your childhood like and how do you feel that prepared you for this career?

Kelly Jackson: Being from the midwest, I believe we have the best ears because we are able to embrace music from all coasts without being bias, plus we bring the soul. But just particularly where I’m from, I was able to have a balanced life. I came with a different lens.

AllHipHop: Throughout your career, can you describe a moment adversity?

Kelly Jackson: Everyone deals with adversity in this industry, but for me, it happened when the change of the label structures occurred. The jobs weren’t as plentiful and that made the record industry not as fun anymore for me because it became more competitive. So, I left New York with the intention of going to law school and started working in radio in Flint, MI as an on-air personality. I did begin to miss New York. I loved it there and loved the music industry on the executive side. Although going back, it was a lot more competitive, leaving New York helped me appreciate the industry and the privileges I had within it. Many strive to just get their foot into the door, and it was important for me to get back and live out my dreams and aspirations I had in the entertainment industry.

AllHipHop: Through that moment of adversity, or just in general, what kept you from giving up?

Kelly Jackson: I’m not a quitter, and the great thing about the industry is, that there is always something, you can find to do. I am a marketer and can market an orange if I need to. People have to understand, if you want to be in the mix, there is a process to this. Many want the easy route, but I’ve always looked at the bigger picture. Some people will only look at the immediate circumstances instead of looking at the long term benefits.

AllHipHop: How does family play a role in your journey through this industry? (parents, siblings, marriage, kids, etc.)

Kelly Jackson: In 2011 my father was dying and I was literally home weekly. During that time, I had to truly realize that this is just a job and if the people I work with don’t get it, then I don’t need to be working there. I just made sure my work was done because nobody wants to hear your excuses.

AllHipHop: No matter what the excuse is right?

Kelly Jackson: Exactly. So if I have to stay up 4 hours later than the next person…then I have to do it.

AllHipHop: What about any relationships? That is a major factor that sometimes women in this industry definitely have to think about.

Kelly Jackson: As far as my personal life, you won’t see on my social media 50 million pics hugged up with someone, but if you respect your private or personal life, you make other people respect that side too. As women, we definitely are held at a different regard, especially when it comes to image, and significant others.

AllHipHop: Do you see much woman empowerment and support within the industry?
Kelly Jackson: There are pockets of supportive women. We support each other in small ways. You don’t have to be someone’s best friend to support them. You can say hey, I really liked what you said right there or anything uplifting. It’s ok to give compliments, we actually need to continue to encourage each other. We as women need to continue to be secure in ourselves and to understand what’s for you, is for you. The men do it…

AllHipHop: Balancing work, family and health can be crazy especially as women, what tips would you share with other women?

Kelly Jackson: On Sway in The Morning, I host a segment called “First Aid with Kelly Kinkaid,” and I discuss all different health topics: weight loss, depression, and others, and every week it touches me when I get a tweet or Instagram message thanking me for the information and motivation to stay healthy. We have to make sure we take care of ourselves. We are always the nurturer, but we have to take the time to nurture ourselves too.

AllHipHop: Who would be your top 3 powerful women, and what about each inspires you?

Kelly Jackson: Sylvia Rhone. I read about her in an article and I wrote her when I first moved to New York and she wrote me back! I was so excited. Then there is Devi Dev, Miss Diddy, Tracy G., Nicky G., Karen Civil. I love the spirit of all the new millennials representing now. Also, my mother, Dr. Ernestine Jackson of course.

AllHipHop: Is there something you would like to share as we embrace our womanhood, not only during the month of March but all year round?

Kelly Jackson: Understand that it’s our time and we must continue to be role models. We must combat the current images of women not getting along, fighting or being fixated on material things with strong and positive images that the younger generation of females can strive to become. We must be examples to the younger generation. I also would love to kill all the pettiness and insecurities we have. It’s ok to love and complement one another. We all can be VPs and Presidents. We just must live by example.

Has Freeway Signed To Jay Z’s Roc Nation?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Freeway got the internet wondering if he’s teaming back up with Jay Z.

Two Instagram pics may be clues that pieces of the Roc really are back together.

One shows Free at Roc Nation headquarters under the RN “Paper Plane” logo.

The other shows him throwing up the “Diamond Sign” in a pic with Jay.

Oh yeah, Freeway made sure to write “#roc4life” and “2017 should be a Great year!!” in the captions.

No official word from Roc Nation yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye on this.

Diddy’s Bad Boy Documentary To Debut at Tribeca Film Fest

(AllHipHop News) Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs feels “blessed” to have his Bad Boy Records reunion documentary premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in his native New York.

The hip-hop mogul’s new project, titled “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: The Bad Boy Story,” gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at his record label and the impact the 1997 murder of his protege Notorious B.I.G. had on the company.

The film, directed by Daniel Kaufman, also chronicles Diddy’s efforts to bring his crew back together for their first reunion shows in Brooklyn last year.

The Bad Boy Family Reunion gigs, which expanded to a full tour, featured Lil Kim, Faith Evans, Mase, French Montana, Total, 112, and Mario Winans, among others.

“Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: The Bad Boy Story” will now make its debut at Robert De Niro’s 2017 Tribeca Film Festival next month and Diddy couldn’t be more proud.

“I am blessed to be introducing our film at the Tribeca Film Festival,” he shared in a statement issued to Billboard.com.

“Tribeca brings the biggest names in entertainment and culture together with visionaries from across industries to celebrate the power of storytelling. There is no better place to share the story behind the Bad Boy movement and this unprecedented musical event.”

Twitter Users React To Nicki Minaj’s “No Frauds” With “So Nicki” Trending Topic

(AllHipHop News) Early Friday morning, Nicki Minaj became the most talked about subject on Twitter.

All the social media attention was due to the Queens rapper dropping three new tracks.

In fact, “No Frauds” – the name of the song which includes a Remy Ma diss verse – became the top trending topic on the site.

Twitter users also caused the phrase “So Nicki” to trend as people began reacting to Minaj’s response to Remy’s diss record “ShETHER.”

Most of the posts were not favorable reactions to Nicki’s attempt to come back at Rem.

Some users pointed out that Nicki also uploaded a lyric video for “No Frauds” to her Instagram page with a lengthy caption which included her taking more shots at Remy Ma.

The Young Money performer turned off the comments for that IG post.

Check out what some members of the Twitterverse had to say about Nicki Minaj’s “No Frauds” below.
