Dame Dash Says Kanye West Inspired Wyoming Ranch Purchase Amid Sale Of Roc-A-Fella Shares

Dame Dash has apparently relocated and, as a result, revealed his decision to purchase a sprawling ranch.

The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder has now become a resident of Wyoming, where he plans to experience life at a difference pace. Dash, who has become known for his unconventional choices, took to a recent livestream to share the inspiration and details behind his latest real estate venture.

“For me, I grew up in Harlem on the concrete, and I hear about all these different lifestyles and I’m like, yo, ‘I got to see what that’s like in person so I could decide which life I like’,” Dash began.

While reflecting on his roots and the allure of a different way of life, Dash was quick to recount how he even arrived at the decision to embrace ranch life in the first place. As Dash continued, he revealed that his visit with Kanye West, who also owns property in Wyoming, was a pivotal moment in triggering his thought process.

“I was out here visiting Kanye and I was like, ‘F##k it man'” he said. “I’m going to get my own ranch. You know what I’m saying? So that’s what happened.”

The new property, which Dash has dubbed the “Dusko Ranch,” boasts 25 acres of land, complete with cabins and horses.

“We built a little, got cabins and all type of horses, little 25 acres, you know what I mean?” he detailed. “It’s tough out here. It’s like the ground is tough. That whole cowboy thing, I feel like, because I had the ranch and I was doing the cowboy was like, I think I inspired it.”

Amid the serene backdrop of Wyoming, Dash finds solace and clarity. He went on to admit the therapeutic aspect of his ranch experience has contributed to his quality of life.

“It’s good to have a nice little view, sometimes, clear your mind, have some wine,” he said. “So at this time, around this time now, when we on the ranch, we drink wine. Me and my girl, it’s just me, Dusko, and Raquel. And we just marinating and enjoying life.”

The news of the move arrives amid the buzz surrounding his compelled sale of shares in the iconic Roc-A-Fella Records for a whopping $1.2 million. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, one-third of Dash’s shares will be sold by the U.S. Marshal at a public auction on August 29 in Manhattan. Potential bidders will have to register to attend the auction by sending an email to attorney Christopher Brown, the same lawyer who represents director Josh Webber.

Webber, of course, is the person who was awarded more than $800,000 in a civil judgment against Dash for copyright infringement and defamation in 2022 over the film Dear Frank. The purpose of the auction is to satisfy the debt, which will include Dash’s most valuable asset, JAY-Z’s Reasonable Doubt.

Donald Trump Shamelessly Panders To Rap Fans On Adin Ross Stream

Donald Trump attempted to court Gen Z voters by appearing on a livestream with Adin Ross on Monday (August 5). Things quickly became absurd when Trump used 50 Cent’s “Many Man” as entrance music for the stream.

Various memes linked 50 Cent’s song to Trump after the former president survived an assassination attempt. Trump walked out to “Many Men” despite the objections of the song’s producer Darrell “Digga” Branch, who said he’d refuse to let Trump’s campaign use the song.

“I’m not feeling dude at all,” Branch told TMZ in July. “I’m not voting for him. People that know me and close to me know that I go in hard on him every chance I get … The irony of my song being connected to this is just crazy.”

The 50 Cent entrance was just the beginning of Trump’s pandering to rap fans on the stream. Trump claimed he would help Young Thug be treated fairly in the rapper’s Georgia RICO case if re-elected.

“I’ve heard about him,” Trump said of Young Thug. “I heard he’s being treated very unfairly by [Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis]. And I would tell her she’s gotta treat these patriots that are being all—terrible. They’re going after them. And I heard Young Thug is being treated—I heard the name. I heard it from other people where they say he’s being treated very unfairly. So, he’s gotta be treated fairly.”

Trump also spoke highly of Kanye West. The ex-president called Ye a “complicated” person, downplaying the outspoken rapper/producer’s controversies.

“Let’s say complicated because he is,” Trump said. “He’s a really nice guy, but he can get himself into trouble and he gets some other people [into trouble]. But, you know, he’s got a good heart. He does. He does. But he’s complicated.”

Trump is running for president despite his conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records. His opponent is Vice President Kamala Harris, who became the Democratic nominee once President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

Ice Spice’s “Y2K” Album Flops—But She’s Trying To Stay Optimistic

Ice Spice tried to put a positive spin on her debut album’s first-week sales on Monday (August 5). The Capitol Records artist thanked her fans and hyped her tour after Y2K sold 28,000 album-equivalent units.

Like..? did 15k so thank u to everyone who supported me then & thank u to all the new supporters,” she wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Y2K! WORLD TOUR been so fun that these numbers are cool and all but b#### u should of seen that Boston CROWD last night. NYC TOMORROW.”

Y2K debuted at No. 18 on the Billboard 200. It was a slight downgrade from Ice Spice’s Like..? EP, which peaked at No. 15.

Ice Spice has experienced more success on the Hot 100 chart. Four of her songs cracked the Top 10 over the past two years. It’s worth noting all four entries were collaborations. She scored her highest-charting song with a guest appearance on Taylor Swift’s “Karma.” It peaked at No. 2

“I was living in my first apartment in Jersey, and (producer) Riot was there recording me,” Ice Spice told Rolling Stone. “I remember my manager called me, and he usually texts, but he called, and he’s like, ‘You ready for this one?’ And I’m thinking it’s going to be some bad news or something. He’s like, ‘Taylor Swift has a record for you to get on from her album.’ I’m playing it cool on the phone. I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s cool. Super cool.’ And then I hang up the phone and I’m hysterically crying. I’m in my walk-in closet, and I’m like, ‘Bro, this is not real life.’”

Nicki Minaj helped Ice Spice secure two Top 10 hits with their collaborations “Princess Diana” (No. 4) and “Barbie World” (No. 7). PinkPantheress recruited Ice Spice for “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2,” which reached No. 3.

Keefe D Claims He Spent Years Trying To Collect $1M From Diddy For Tupac Shakur Murder

Mike Dorsey, the filmmaker behind the Murder Rap documentary, released never-before-heard audio of Tupac Shakur murder suspect Keefe D’s 2008 confession on Monday (August 5). Keefe D revealed his struggles to get paid for Shakur’s murder after Diddy allegedly offered $1 million for the hit.

Keefe D, whose real name is Duane Davis, allegedly told Harlem gangster Eric “Von Zip” Martin to collect the money from Diddy days after the murder. Four to six weeks later, Keefe D met Martin again. Keefe D said Martin had been avoiding him.

“What’s up with the cash?” Keefe D recalled asking at the meeting. “[Zip said], ‘[Diddy] ain’t give it to me yet.’ We need money, m###########. They took our guns, all that s###. We need some money. They must got millions.”

Keefe D went to prison for unrelated charges in 1998. After serving a four-year sentence, his associate Wynn Prince encountered Diddy at a party at Snoop Dogg’s house in Los Angeles County. Prince, who supposedly thought Keefe D was on house arrest, inquired about payment for Shakur’s murder. Diddy allegedly gave Prince a phone number to call.

“If I would’ve seen his ass, ‘Gimme the jewelry and everything,’ you know?” Keefe D said. “Stupid m###########. I said, ‘You let him give you a number?’ That was so stupid! Why you didn’t get the jewelry?”

Keefe D told police he called the number given to Prince.

“[Diddy] ain’t answer,” Keefe D said. “That man got about 50 phones. He can throw that s### away. He gets phones easy.”

Keefe D admitted he hadn’t talked to Diddy or Martin since leaving prison. The murder suspect revealed a desperate attempt to confront Diddy about the lack of payment in 2008.

“When he got that Walk of Fame m###########, I was right there!” Keefe D said. “But there was too many [police[ around there.”

According to Keefe D, he allegedly met an associate of Martin before speaking to police as part of a proffer agreement. The associate told Keefe D, “Zip got paid.” Martin keeping the money for himself led to Keefe D’s confession.

“I think if he would’ve just gave us half the money, we … I would’ve stayed strong,” Keefe D said. “Like, ‘F### it.’”

Keefe D was arrested for Shakur’s murder in 2023. He awaits trial in Nevada.

Allegations of Diddy putting a hit on Shakur resurfaced in July. Prosecutors cited Keefe D’s past accusations in a court filing.

“[Keefe D] has asserted publicly that he only told on himself and wasn’t trying to provide evidence against anyone else in his conversations with police,” prosecutors wrote. “However, this statement belies this claim, as he suggested that Sean Combs paid Eric Von Martin a million dollars for the killings as well as offered to set up a surreptitious phone call with Terrence Brown, the driver, who, at the time, was still alive.”

Shakur’s family hired attorney Alex Spiro, among others, to investigate the allegations against Diddy. The Hip-Hop mogul has repeatedly denied any involvement in Tupac Shakur’s death.

Cardi B Threatens To Beat Up Angry Apartment Resident In Profanity-Laced Video

Cardi B clashed with a New York apartment resident in footage captured by an onlooker around 1 a.m. ET on July 29. A video of the incident surfaced via the New York Post on Monday (August 5).

The resident was seen yelling at a group of people taking pictures in her apartment’s driveway. She allegedly kicked a Cybertruck parked outside the building, leading to an argument with Cardi B.

“There were a group of people who came outside my building to take pictures,” an onlooker explained. “One of the tenants was upset that they were taking pictures and said she can’t be there. She then kicked the Cybertruck and Cardi B starts shouting.”

Cardi B shouted at the woman, “You harassed them. You touched their car. I saw you. I recorded you. I’m recording you, b####! I’ll f### you up for real.”

A passerby recognized Cardi B’s voice amid the shouting. The person was stunned to realize it was truly her.

“All of a sudden I heard Cardi B’s voice and I was like ‘no way is that her,’” the onlooker told the publication. “I turned around to see her and I was like, ‘No way, what the f###? I walked over and I couldn’t believe it was Cardi B.”

Footage of the verbal altercation emerged days after Cardi B filed for divorce from her estranged husband Offset. The Atlantic Records rapper also announced she was pregnant with their third child.

“With every ending comes a new beginning!” she wrote on Instagram. “I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power! Reminded me that I can have it all!

“You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and can not wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do! It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns and test laying down, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”

Despite the divorce, Cardi B defended Offset against reports claiming he was “more of a distraction than support.” She denied requesting child support, saying she only wanted him to “pay for the bills he already pays on the kids and the new one.”

Kehlani’s Ex Claims She’s Part Of Sex Cult Amid Contentious Custody Battle

Javaughn Young-White, the father of Kehlani’s daughter, accused the singer of endangering their child. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Young-White sought full custody of their daughter Adeya Nomi due to Kehlani’s alleged ties to a sex cult.

Young-White claimed Kehlani’s been involved in the cult for a few years. Young-White feared for his daughter’s safety, citing sexual assault allegations against the cult’s leader. The father believed the cult leader was influencing Kehlani’s decisions, preventing him from seeing their daughter.

Kehlani and Young-White’s child was born in 2019. The two split up in 2020.

Sex cult allegations emerged on the heels of backlash to Kehlani’s friendly interaction with Chris Brown. A photo of the two upset fans, who condemned Kehlani for associating with Brown due to his history of domestic violence. Fans thought it was hypocritical for her to associate with Brown due to her public stance on the humanitarian crisis in Palestine. Kehlani called out her peers for their silence regarding Israeli’s attacks on Palestinians in May.

“This s### is f###### me up BEEN f###### me up it should be f###### a lot of yall up but apparently it’s not????” she wrote on social media. “what’s good yall??? we don’t sell out shows without A CROWD FULL OF PEOPLE. the songs don’t chart without PEOPLE. the trends don’t trend without PEOPLE. you don’t draw a line at beheaded babies or people burnt alive after 7 months the of plenty of other atrocities ? idc about the roll out the formula the strategy the algorithm at this point i’m begging U TO BE PEOPLE. BE A F##### HUMAN BEING.”

Kehlani said her political views resulted in collaborators ghosting her while making her latest album. She released her album Crash in June. It debuted at No. 25 on the Billboard 200.

T.I. Arrested At Atlanta Airport, Hauled Off To Clayton County Jail

T.I. was arrested on Sunday night (August 5) at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in a case of mistaken identity. According to inmate records, he was taken into custody at 4:31 p.m. local time and released at approximately 6:19 p.m. the same day. The charge was listed as “Fugitive From Justice.”

The mixup occurred after a warrant had been issued for a Baltimore man named Clifford Harris, the same as T.I.’s government name. The suspect is wanted for his alleged involvement in violent behavior toward a woman, stalking and possible weapon charges.

T.I. was taken from the airport to Clayton County Jail. Because the warrant was issued out of state, the arrest triggered an automatic extradition hearing, which a judge quickly dismissed. T.I. has yet to address the incident on his social media pages.

T.I. and his wife, Tamika “Tiny” Harris, have faced a slew of legal troubles in recent years. Last month, the couple asked a California judge to dismiss a lawsuit accusing them of sexual assault and battery as they contested the merits of a civil complaint filed by a woman identified as Jane Doe.

“All the claims asserted in the Complaint are time-barred because the statute of limitations for such claims has long expired over sixteen years ago,” T.I .and Tiny’s lawyers wrote. “Further, notwithstanding the fact that Defendants Clifford Harris (‘Mr. Harris’) and Tameka Harris (‘Mrs. Harris’) (collectively ‘Defendants’ or ‘Harrises’), deny that any of the alleged conduct even occurred, the Complaint fails to allege facts to sufficiently establish any of the claims alleged in the Complaint.”

They added, “Accordingly, Defendants seek to dismiss all the claims in the Complaint … for failure to state a claim upon which any relief can be granted. Because there is no possible remedy for these deficiencies … Defendants seek dismissal of this entire action.”

Jane Doe sued T.I. and Tiny for sexual assault, battery, sexual battery, negligence, false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress in January. The woman said the Harrises drugged and sexually assaulted her on an unspecified date in 2005.

T.I .and Tiny denied the allegations, claiming the alleged victim tried to extort them before filing the lawsuit.

“On the heels of positivity, negativity always rears its ugly head,” T.I. and Tiny told AllHipHop in January. “This plaintiff has been threatening to file this lawsuit for THREE years. For THREE years, we have emphatically and categorically denied these allegations. For THREE years we have maintained our innocence and refused to pay these extortionate demands for things we didn’t do.

“For THREE years, we’ve maintained the same position while the claims in this story have changed time and time again. Our position is clear… We are innocent of these fake claims, we will not be shaken down, and we look forward to our day in court.”

Shannon Sharpe Roasts “Brash Talking” Jamaican Fans Following Noah Lyles’ Olympics Victory

Shannon Sharpe got into it with Jamaican fans online after Noah Lyles‘ win in the men’s 100-meter final during the 2024 Paris Olympics over the weekend.

Lyles narrowly beat Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson following a thrilling photo finish on Sunday (August 4). After his win, the veteran sportscaster took to Twitter (X) to troll trash-talking Jamaican fans.

“Where’s all that brash talking you Jamaicans were doing,” Sharpe wrote after the race. “When Thompson laid down that 9.77 even got the prime minister involved. Told you we had something 4 y’all. I get the women were hurt, but Noah smoked Kishane and made Seville tap out.”

Jamaican fans pushed back against Shannon Sharpe’s “smoked” remark, but the Nightcap host doubled down.

“Stop the blood clot crying,” he told one person, adding several crying with laughter emojis.

Sharpe went back and forth with other fans before finishing off the roast with Chad Ochocinco on his podcast.

“When y’all go low, I’ma go to the basement,” he said on Nightcap. “If you go lower than that, I’m going to hell. So, I’mjust letting you know now. So, let’s keep it above the belt. It might be a while before y’all see the top of the podium, because Noah Lyles ain’t going nowhere.”

Shannon Sharpe continued, pointing out that Team USA has many more opportunities for track and field victories. “We ain’t done,” Sharpe warned Jamaican fans.

Snoop Dogg Rumored To Be Earning $500K Daily At Olympics & Social Media Users Aren’t Happy

Snoop Dogg’s rumored $500,000 daily 2024 Paris Olympics salary is causing a stir online.

The Death Row Records boss is becoming a staple of the Olympics, making headlines and frequently going viral for his antics as NBC’s prime-time correspondent.

The West Coast Hip-Hop icon is stealing the show with his enthusiastic support for Team USA, and his excitement for the athletes and events has captivated audiences tuning into his segments for NBC.

However, according to a new rumor circulating online, Snoop Dogg is being handsomely rewarded for his coverage of the games, raking in a whopping half a million dollars a day.

On Sunday (August 4), a tweet began making the rounds from someone claiming they overheard a conversation about Snoop Dogg’s NBC salary.

“Sat next to an NBC exec at dinner,” the X (Twitter) user claimed. “He said Snoop gets paid $500k a day plus expenses to be here promoting Olympics. From Gin and Juice to a few million to be a celebrity at the Olympics – what a world.”

Snoop Dogg Fans React

While the rumor is unsubstantiated, Snoop Dogg fans were quick to react, with some believing he’s worth $500,000 a day and more. Nonetheless, many online pointed out that most of the athletes competing at the Games won’t see a fraction of that.

One user shared a post from Olympic discus thrower Veronica Fraley, who revealed she struggled to pay her rent until Public Enemy hypeman Flavor Flav stepped in.

“Snoop deserves every bit of that $500k a day for all he is doing,” one person wrote. “No debate at all…but the fact that this young woman is an actual participant in the Olympic Games yet couldn’t pay her rent till the big heart of Flavor Flav stepped in just rubs me the wrong way.”

Another person added, “No offense to Snoop, I think this is great. I just don’t understand how there are teams literally winning medals while still funding themselves and he gets 500k a day? This is crazy.”

A third person agreed, saying, “With all respect to Snoop. Paying him 500k a day to be at the Olympic events while the ones competing can’t even pay their bills is insane.”

Lil Wayne’s Old Lyric Notebook Gets $5M Asking Price After Years-Long Legal Battle

Lil Wayne’s lyric notebook is on sale for a lucky buyer with deep pockets after being listed for auction with a whopping $5 million asking price.

The notebook dates back to Weezy’s early days at Cash Money Records in the 1990s as a member of the Hot Boys. It includes handwritten lyrics of some of Lil Wayne’s earliest hits, including “Grown Man” and “We on Fire.”

Moments In Time

Auction house Moments in Time has listed the journal for an eye-watering $5 million.

According to TMZ, the notebook was subject to a five-year ownership battle and was originally listed on the site for $250,000. However, Lil Wayne blocked the 2019 sale of the notebook, hitting Moments in Time with a cease and desist letter.

The auction house claimed they were selling the item on behalf of a man who claimed he recovered it from a vehicle once owned by a Cash Money Records associate. However, Lil Wayne’s attorney accused the unidentified owner of lying and demanded the return of the notebook.

However, the man argued the issue in court, claiming “finders-keepers.” Lil Wayne failed to respond in the five years since, and in February, a judge gave the mystery owner permission to sell Lil Wayne’s notebook.

Lil Wayne Reveals Jay-Z Inspired Him To Stop Writing Down Lyrics

The journal is a rare find, considering Lil Wayne stopped writing down his lyrics in 2002. He ditched the pen and pad after learning Hov strictly raps freestyle, and he never wrote a lyric down again.

“The moment I heard it I stopped,” Lil Wayne recalled during an interview last year. “I heard that n#### Jay-Z don’t write, I don’t write no more.”

Wayne was so sure of his decision that he dumped the last of his written material in one track. “We went in the studio and we did ‘10,000 Bars’” he added. “That was the last time I rapped anything off of a paper.”

Kehlani Catches Heat Over Chris Brown “Twin” Selfie

Kehlani fans were up in arms after Chris Brown posted a selfie of them on his Instagram Story.

The backlash came from fans recalling his reaction to her 2016 suicide attempt in addition to Brown’s infamous assault on Rihanna in 2009.

Chris Brown shared the photo with Kehlani on Sunday (August 4) with the caption “TWIN.” It didn’t take long for the photo to circulate online, sparking criticism from Atlantic Records artist’s fans.

“Kehlani spends a so much time talking about advocating for human and womens rights to go be playing house with chris brown is sooooooo…… wake up to yourself what the f###,” one person shared.

“Kehlani went out of their way to remove Tory Lanez off a song after the incident with Megan,” another fan added. “But now they all cozied up to Cocaine Fisticuffs Brown?”

Others shared Brown’s remarks following Kehlani’s suicide attempt. “i’m sorry am i going f###### insane rn. THIS chris brown and THIS kehlani?” one fan questioned.

“There is no attempting suicide. Stop flexing for the gram. Doing s### for sympathy so those comments under your pics don’t look so bad,” Brown tweeted in 2016.

However, not everybody agreed with some defending Kehlani, claiming Brown apologized a long time ago.

“kehlani and chris brown been good for a while,” one person insisted. “Yall just be shocked because yall think social media reflects real life. we only know that chris came face to face with her and apologized a long time ago.”

YG Says It’s Still F### Donald Trump, Calls Him “Racist” & Slams Plans For Police Immunity

YG hasn’t changed his opinion on Donald Trump and says it’s still “FDT (F### Donald Trump)” eight years on from his Trump diss.

On Sunday (August 4), the West Coast rapper shared his thoughts on the former president during an interview with Kick streamer Adin Ross.

YG branded Donald Trump “racist” and condemned Trump’s recent pledge to give officers federal immunity so they can“do their jobs.”

According to YG, law enforcement officers “should be held responsible for their actions,” and claimed he has friends who have been victims of police brutality.

“I’m Black,” he declared. “I got a lot of homies and friends that done been in police brutality situations where they ain’t really do nothing wrong. Police trippin’ out and n##### end up dead or f##### up in jail. Trump, he thinks different and I don’t f### with that.”

During Trump’s controversial appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists convention last week, he was asked whether he would give immunity to the Illinois sheriff’s deputy who fatally shot 36-year-old Black woman Sonya Massey in July.

However, Trump seemed unfamiliar with the case and refused to clarify his position.

“I don’t know the exact case but I saw something, and it didn’t look good to me,” Trump said. “You are talking with the water right?”

Asked why the deputy should get immunity, Trump replied, “Well he might not, it depends on what happens. I am talking about people much different than that. We need people to protect ourselves,” Trump said.

YG Says Donald Trump Is Racist

YG also weighed in on the Sonya Massey shooting during his conversation with Adin Ross.

“She called the police to come protect and serve her and she end up getting shot in the face. What type of s### is that?” he questioned. “That muthafucka needs to go under the jail.”

When the streamer attempted to push back, claiming the officer was charged, the rapper stood firm. “Yeah but Trump is trying to change that,” YG added. He also refused to be drawn into a debate about Vice President Kamala Harris’ time as a prosecutor.

“We talking about police brutality. We not talking about laws back in the day when weed was illegal,” he asserted. “We’re talking about police brutality on innocent Black muthafuckas who was in the wrong, who didn’t have a gun.”

Elsewhere during the conversation, YG said that Donald Trump is racist. He refused to give specific examples but said he “needs to put more respect on minorites.”  YG also urged Ross to call him during his upcoming interview with Trump.

Jon B Slams Gunna & Chloe Bailey’s “Ratchet” Collab, Claims Duo Sampled “They Don’t Know” Without Permission

Jon B isn’t a fan of Gunna and Chloe Bailey’s collab “You & Me,” which samples his iconic hit “They Don’t Know,” and wishes it never saw the light of day.

During a recent appearance on the Can We Talk RNB podcast, the singer opened up about his 1997 hit, which he says is frequently sampled. However, he branded Gunna and Chloe Bailey’s offering “ratchet” and claims they never sought his permission to use the song.

Although Jon B considers it a “compliment,” he “couldn’t stand” the collab, adding, “I wish they never” released the song.

Jon B also alleged Gunna and Chloe Bailey “never got my rights to do the record.” He insisted, “Gunna we got to holler about that. That’s some business s### we got to handle.”

Elsewhere in the interview, he said that although he could be “Katt Williams” and expose industry secrets, he’s choosing not to. However, he went in on Justin Timberlake’s latest single, and its “demonic” music video

“That new single is trash,” he declared. I’m not feeling his music at all anymore. And the video is even more trash … I don’t like all this demonic s###. You would sell your soul to be popular or something? Or to give your allegiance some hidden power behind the scenes?”

Meanwhile, Jon B fans are awaiting his first album in over a decade. He promised to release Waiting on You, sometime in 2024 but the project is yet to drop. He released the title track featuring Tank, back in January and teased a February album release but it failed to materialize.

Lil Yachty & Drake Get Green Light For “Supersoak” Collab Under One Condition

Lil Yachty recently revealed he leaked his new Drake collab, “SuperSoak,” because of clearance issues, but the sample creator, Mr. Hotspot has given them an avenue to an official release.

Last week, Yachty revealed that the social media influencer refused to clear the sample over religious reasons. He faced backlash for dropping the song anyway, but Mr. Hotspot isn’t holding a grudge.

He recently revealed that he would clear the track if the duo re-records a child-friendly version on the clean reference track he sent them. In a TikTok livestream, Mr. Hotspot said “it’ll be good for both of their brands,” to use the clean sample.

“I’m blessed to work with children so we just gotta make it clean for them,” he explained. “We don’t need no children getting whooped cause they said this or that, you understand?”

Mr. Hotspot continued, “It’s the children who really running these views up. So if we make sure both verses clean everybody coming clean, everybody gonna benefit.”

There’s no word yet whether Drake and Lil Yachty will record on the clean version. However, Mr. Hotspot asked fans to be patient as he had only just sent them the re-recorded sample.

During a recent appearance on the Flagrant podcast, Lil Yachty explained why he sent the song to streamer Kai Cenat to leak

“We couldn’t get the sample cleared so I just let Kai play it,” he shared. Yachty also announced that they were not officially releasing the track. “But it’s everywhere,” he said, adding that Mr. Hotspot “went down like a Christian path…it was crazy, everyone was like, ‘Are you serious?'”

Tory Lanez Reveals He Graduated High School & Enrolled In College In New Prison Update

Tory Lanez has revealed he’s making up for lost time while in prison, catching up on his education, graduating high school and enrolling in college.

Lanez is currently behind bars serving a 10-year sentence after he was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2022. On Sunday night (August 4), Lanez appeared in good spirits during a call with Kick streamer Adin Ross. He phoned into the live broadcast with an update for his fans.

After getting Alexa to play Ma$e’s “Welcome Back,” Tory Lanez told Ross he’s staying upbeat.

“I’m great,” he replied. “I know that a lot of people sometimes when they hear prison or they hear somebody’s down, they think n####’s in the corner somewhere bawling his eyes out.”

Lanez continued, explaining that he’s “in a great space mentally,” and is “bettering myself in every single way.”  He also shared that he’s hitting the gym and looking better than ever. In addition to working out, the Ontario native has been working on his education.

“A n#### just graduated high school, enrolled in college,” he added. “Never thought I’d do that. But I’m taking this moment and I’m taking advantage over everything that’s good. I’m a f###### high school drop out that just graduated high school. That s### matters to me. So, it’s the small things that just have me feeling good about life right now.”

Last week, Tory Lanez dropped his first project from behind bars, Prison Tapes. In a call to his fans earlier in the week, Lanez announced he figured out how to make recording studio-quality music from prison and would release new music every week.

“It’s over. I done cracked the f###### code, man,” he declared. “This means that not even these prison walls can stop me from dropping new music. It’s crazy!”

Meanwhile, Tory Lanez’s request for a new trial made headlines earlier this week after he submitted an affidavit from his driver. Prosecutors argued the affidavit was not new evidence, citing Lanez’s former attorney refusing to call Smith as a witness in court.

Joe Budden discussed the case on his podcast, claiming Lanez was set up. Megan Thee Stallion’s former friend Kelsey Harris seemingly responded after Budden mentioned her, clarifying that she was cleared and stating, “Stay tuned.”

Travis Scott & Killer Mike Beef Brews Over Grammy Win

Alright, gather ’round, folks, ’cause we’ve got some spicy Hip-Hop tea to spill. Killer Mike, our underground legend and Outkast’s star student from the 2000s, has been stirring the pot. You know him as one half of Run the Jewels, the duo that’s got more bars than Rikers Island.

Sure, he might not have the chart-topping hits, but his lyrical game? It’s tighter than…well, you get the idea. He’s a friend of the site and we love him. But, something is afoot. Check it.

The 2024 Grammys stirred up some beef! Killer Mike snagged a Grammy and Travis Scott fans were hotter than a fresh jalapeño. They cried foul, saying Mike didn’t deserve the award. Well, Killer Mike ain’t the type to let things slide. Nope, he went full Deadpool on this narrative in his new album.

Ice Spice Claims Women Have To Be “Hot” To Make It & Men Have It “Easy”

Ice Spice experienced a whirlwind of emotions as she stepped onto the stage at the BET Awards in June, performing her hit track “Phat Butt.”

The 24-year-old rapper from the Bronx wasn’t aware of the immense pressure artists face at award shows until she was in the spotlight.

Ice Spice shared how her perspective changed dramatically.

“I used to judge other artists’ awards show performances,” she confessed to Rolling Stone. “I’d be like, ‘Oh, that was awkward. Why the f**k would they do that? Why was she looking there?'”

But once she took to the stage herself, she realized how demanding it really was.

“When you’re doing it yourself, you’re like, ‘OK, this is a lot,'” she said. “There are like 10 different cameras. There are cues, and everything is just so much, but it’s fun, though. At the end of the day, when it’s over, it’s fun.”

But her insights didn’t stop at performances alone.

Ice Spice highlighted deeper issues within the music industry, particularly touching on gender disparities. She opened up about the challenges women face.

“We do live in a misogynistic world where it’s like you have to be breathtakingly hot to get certain opportunities,” she said. “I was born as a woman and raised as a woman, so I only know this lifestyle, but I could just imagine how easy it is for guys.”

The rapper envied the simpler preparation routines her male colleagues enjoy.

“I am very jealous when the men on my team get to sleep an extra five f**king hours because they don’t have glam,” Ice Spice complained.

The TikTokification Of The Music Industry: Redefining How Hits Are Made

In an era where 15-second clips can catapult unknown artists to global stardom, the music industry is undergoing a seismic shift, often described as the “TikTokification” of music. Eric Azike examines.

Gone are the days when radio play and record deals were the primary arbiters of a song’s success. Today, a catchy hook or a viral dance challenge can turn a track into an overnight sensation, redefining the essence of creating a hit. The phenomenon, driven by TikTok’s explosive rise, reshapes how music is discovered, consumed and promoted, fundamentally altering the landscape for artists, producers and fans alike.

TikTok, a social media platform that allows users to create and share short videos, has quickly become a major player in the music industry. Its algorithm, designed to surface engaging content, has democratized music discovery. Artists no longer need to rely solely on traditional pathways such as record labels, radio stations or streaming services. Instead, they can upload a snippet of their song, hoping it catches fire among TikTok’s vast and diverse user base.

The new model of music promotion leverages the platform’s viral nature as when a TikTok user creates content using a particular song, the platform’s algorithm promotes it based on user engagement. If a song’s clip becomes a popular soundtrack for videos, it can lead to millions of streams and downloads on traditional music platforms. The organic, user-driven method of spreading music has proven to be remarkably effective.

One of the most notable examples of this phenomenon is the recent success of Tommy Richman’s viral hit “Million Dollar Baby” amassing more than 600 million streams and a No.2 Billboard Hot 100 appearance from TikTok challenges ranging from members of the D9 strolling to creators on the app creating a dance challenge to it.

Additionally, the rise of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” initially released independently, the song gained massive popularity on TikTok before topping the Billboard Hot 100 for a record-breaking 19 weeks. The success stories of both of these artists have one thing in common: hits are no longer made by industry gatekeepers but by the collective actions of everyday users.

The shift has empowered artists who might have previously struggled to gain recognition which as a result, has allowed TikTok has become a breeding ground for musical talent, offering a direct path to fame.

While the TikTokification of music offers many opportunities, it is not without its challenges and criticisms. Some industry insiders argue that the platform’s emphasis on virality can prioritize fleeting trends over artistic integrity, causing artists to feel pressured to chase short-term success rather than create music that reflects their true vision.

Moreover, the rapid rise and fall of viral hits can make it difficult for artists to build sustainable careers. Songs that go viral on TikTok can generate significant attention and revenue in the short term, but maintaining that momentum requires continuous engagement and innovation, which can be exhausting for artists who do not have the necessary skills and development to achieve long-term success.

As TikTok continues to shape the music industry, its long-term impact remains uncertain. What is clear, though, is that the platform has fundamentally changed how hits are made. By democratizing music discovery and harnessing the power of viral content, TikTok has opened up new opportunities for artists and redefined the industry’s landscape.

However, this TikTokification of music isn’t without its challenges and criticisms. Some industry insiders worry that the platform’s focus on virality can lead to fleeting trends overshadowing artistic integrity. This can pressure artists to chase short-term success instead of creating music that truly reflects their vision.

Additionally, the rapid rise and fall of viral hits can make it tough for artists to build sustainable careers, as keeping the momentum requires continuous engagement and innovation, which can be exhausting. In this TikTok-driven world, success in the music industry is no longer just about crafting the perfect album or getting airplay on top radio stations.

It’s about creating moments that resonate with a global audience, moments that can be captured, shared, and celebrated in 15-second increments. The TikTokification of the music industry marks a new era where the power to create a hit lies with the many, not the few, forever changing how music is made, discovered, and enjoyed.

With the recent push to ban TikTok in the United States, the music industry faces significant uncertainty. How will the potential loss of this platform, which has become so integral to discovering and promoting new music, affect the future of an industry that has grown accustomed to utilizing it? The question looms large as artists, producers and fans alike ponder the impact of a TikTok-less landscape on the creation and spread of viral hits.

Beyoncé Pays Tribute to Simone Biles In Inspiring NBC Ad

Beyonce narrated an NBC ad paying tribute to gymnast Simone Biles, who had three gold medals in the 2024 Olympics as of Sunday (August 4).

In the ad, Beyonce’s voice sets the stage as footage of the 27-year-old gymnast fills the screen.

“Let’s talk about power,” she begins. “Because, really, that’s what this story’s about. Physical power: its beauty, its wonder. The way it never stops amazing you. Then there’s spiritual power, the kind that really matters. The power you can’t see, only sense. The power you need in those moments when life goes a little sideways on you. And, of course, lasting power. Only a select few know what it feels like to get to the top and stay there. And, somehow, keep getting better.”

The narrative reflects on Biles’ struggles with the “twisties” during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which led to her withdrawal from several events.

Beyonce continues, “Simone Biles inspires me and I’m pretty sure she inspires you too. Such confidence in her strength, such beauty in her power, such a great lesson in her story. Brilliance, it doesn’t come easy. Gold can be a hell of a journey. And the greatest of all time is willing to put that title on the line every time she walks out there. Take your best shot, world. She’s ready for you.”

The ad is accompanied by Beyonce’s track “Just for Fun” from her latest album, Cowboy Carter.

Reflecting on her latest victory, Biles shared, “It is crazy I’m in the conversation of greatest of all athletes because I’m just Simone Biles from Spring in Texas.” She added, “Three years ago I never thought I’d step on a gymnastic court again, but I worked hard, mentally and physically, even saw my therapist this morning, just making sure I’m mentally well.”

Gunna Isn’t A “Rat”—He “Folded Under Pressure” In Young Thug Case YSL Co-Founder Says

Gunna and Young Thug were arrested in May 2022, two of the 28 people associated with YSL Records who were charged in a 56-count RICO Act indictment filed by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

In December 2022, Gunna pleaded guilty to a single charge of racketeering and was sentenced to five years in prison, with one year commuted to time served and the rest of the sentence suspended subject to probation conditions, including 500 hours of community service. He was released from jail the same day.

Young Thug, however, remains in prison, which led many to label Gunna a “snitch.” But according to YSL co-founder Fremondo Crenshaw, he simply caved. Taking to his Instagram Stories on Sunday (August 4), Crenshaw—also known as YSL Mondo—provided his perspective and expressed regret over calling Gunna “a rat.”

“I’m man enough to say I should’ve never spoke about the Gunna situation cause technically he didn’t rat he just kinda folded under pressure & should’ve just stayed down with his mans til everything was over.

“All the originals know he ain’t did nothing, wasn’t even around from the beginning so he wasn’t gone do no real time regardless I feel bad cause now a n#### who literally is a real live rat is running round the city getting glorified & smiling like he didn’t just send multiple n##### to jail.”

He continued, “I was so mad and hurt at the same time that my brother going through this s### after he turned a lot of n##### up who should’ never been allowed in our circle. He can’t speak up so I felt I’m the only one who can & should be speaking up.

“That’s the only reason I started talking about Gunna but I’m a real n#### in real life. Ain’t no mystery in my history. I’m not afraid to say when I was wrong & saying Gunna is a rat was dead ass wrong but I can’t take nothing back. I just got to stand on whaat I said & take whatever comes with it.”

Young Thug’s RICO trial experienced another hiccup last week, when defense attorneys learned of a second secret meeting between Judge Ural Glanville and the prosecution. The case’s former judge and prosecutors disparaged attorney Jonathan Melnick, who represented key witness Kenneth Copeland, in the meeting.

The defense received a transcript of the June meeting. Douglas Weinstein, the lawyer of Young Thug’s co-defendant Yak Gotti, sought a mistrial on Wednesday (July 31).

“It is not a fair trial when in an ex parte meeting Glanville, Love, and Hylton assassinate the character of attorney Melnick and attack his integrity, alleging that he is not acting in the best interest of his client, Copeland,” Weinstein argued.

He added, “Every time a piece of pasted-up wallpaper is removed, more rot is found hidden underneath. No herculean effort by the present court can fix the due process violations of the last judge. This house must be torn down. A mistrial should be declared and retrial barred due to prosecutorial and judicial misconduct.”

Judge Glanville was ousted from the trial over another secret meeting with prosecutors. One of Young Thug’s lawyers, Brian Steel, challenged the judge about the first known meeting in June. The courtroom fireworks completely derailed the trial until Judge Glanville’s recusal last month.

Defense attorneys claimed Judge Glanville presumed the guilt of all the defendants in the case. The revelation of a second secret meeting heightened their demands for a mistrial. Judge Paige Reese Whitaker, who took over Young Thug’s trial, understood their concerns.

“The transcript will reflect what was actually said in there,” she said. “And there are some allegations that if I were an attorney and they were levied against me … I would be a little hot under the collar as well.”

Judge Whitaker has yet to rule on Yak Gotti’s motion for mistrial but dismissed a motion to dismiss Young Thug’s entire case on August 1 and his request for bond just days earlier.
