After last night’s (May 1st) world premiere of The Great Gatsby in New York City, NPR streams the film’s Jay-Z executive produced soundtrack in its entirety.
With clips from the film interspersed throughout the song, Jay-Z speaks on political corruption, the ills of fame and takes credit for Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” video reaching over 100 million views on YouTube.

So So Def Issues Statement On Chris Kelly Of Kriss Kross
(AllHipHop News) So So Def, the brand founded by Jermaine Dupri, and the mother of Kriss Kross member Chris Kelly released a joint statement, recognizing the death of the young 34-year-old rapper.
The statement said:
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved Chris Kelly has passed away on May 1. To millions of fans worldwide, he was the trendsetting, backwards pants-wearing one-half of Kris Kross who loved making music. But to us, he was just Chris – the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party. Though he was only with us a short time, we feel blessed to have been able to share some incredible moments with him. His legacy will live on through his music, and we will forever love him.”— Donna Kelly Pratte (mother) & The So So Def Family
Both Donna Pratte and So So Def indicated that neither would publicly comment further at this time.
Kelly was found dead yesterday around 5pm. The cause of death has not been determined at press time.
Still, TMZ is reporting that there me be a link to his death via a deadly cocaine/heroine mix. These reports have not been confirmed by an medical examiner or law authority.

MAN, THIS IS GETTING HEATED, BUT THERE IS AN INTERESTING DYNAMIC TO IT.
The question is: WAS DANNY BROWN SEXUALLY ASSAULTED ON STAGE, WHEN THIS CHICK HOPPED UP, PULLED OUT HIS HIPPY JOHNSON AND WENT TO WORK?
Danny Brown’s friend rapper Kitty Pryde says “YES.” She recently posted a blog pleading her case and she also said that the way its been shared on the internet, is all wrong.
“I will also say that whoever wrote on Reddit that Danny was ‘walking around the stage getting girls to grab his d**k’ is 100% false, and to blame someone for their own molestation is a sh*tty thing to do. Anybody who is exaggerating this tale to climax is also a lying fool, and to call it a bl*w job is even going a bit far because it was probably the fastest thing I’ve ever seen. ‘The Thing’ was not a thing that Danny facilitated—it was an actual sexual assault, and somehow nobody gives a f**k about that but me. Why doesn’t Ricky Smiley or whoever just talk to this girl,” she added. “I know why. It’s because everyone wants the option of blaming it on Danny, because people can’t accept the fact that a white girl raped a black dude in front of a bunch of people.”

They look like a couple. Anyway, more black men are assaulted than are reported so its not impossible to conceive that Danny Brown didn’t want some unknown, strange and potentially insane woman…giving him head at a concert in front of thousands of strangers.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Kriss Kross’ Chris Kelly Cause of Death? JD Rumors And Pictures!
WOW. The Mac Daddy of Kriss Kross is dead. Once upon a time there were these things called kid rappers and they actually rapped like kids. Well Kriss Kross were kid rappers. They weren’t like Keef or the other “kids” like Lil Poop or whatever the f**k is out there now. Those guys are kids age wise but adults in content. Anyway, RIP Chris Kelly. Dude left his mark. TMZ is reporting that Chris’s death may have something to do with drugs. As of press time, nobody really knows, but there is nothing natural about a 34 year old dying so I don’t want to hear about it being that.

I ain’t gonna lie, Chris had me trippin’ with a fan caught him out in the town like this.
But, he was pretty cool like that. He took that internet clowning with a grain of salt and kept pushing along.

Danny Brown & Rockie Fresh Tapped For Mad Decent Block Party 2013
(AllHipHop News) Midwest emcees Danny Brown and Rockie Fresh were just announced as part of the line-up for the Mad Decent Block Party 2013 nationwide tour. The traveling festival will present various performers in 13 different cities from July – September.
Chicago’s Rockie Fresh is currently scheduled to appear at the Brooklyn stop in Williamsburg Park on August 10th. Detroit native Danny Brown’s show dates have not been revealed yet, but more details about the tour are forthcoming.
Danny recently made major headlines because of an onstage performance that included an unexpected cameo from an overzealous fan.

Rockie made news this week as well. The Maybach Music Group member dropped his latest project The Birthday Tape on Monday.

Tyler The Creator’s Manager Issues Statement About Controversial Mountain Dew Ad
(AllHipHop News) Yesterday (May 1), Mountain Dew and Tyler The Creator pulled a recent ad featuring the Odd Future rapper from the internet. The commercial was criticized, most notably by Dr. Boyce Watkins, as being racist and misogynistic.
The clip centered around Tyler’s character, “Felicia The Goat,” appearing in a police line-up with his fellow OFWGKTA members. The young black men were being reviewed by a severely injured white women as a police detective pushes her to identify her attacker.

PepsiCo, Mountain Dew’s parent company, issued an apology stating that they could see how the commercial could be seen as offensive. Mountain Dew asked Tyler to take the ad off the Odd Future YouTube channel, and the company removed it from their own website.

Like the previous two Felicia Mountain Dew commercials, the “line-up” ad was developed and directed by Tyler. His co-manager, Christian Clancy, decided to address the issue and defend his client on his Tumblr page. His post stated in part:
Context may or not help those who are offended and I wholly respect that but for those who are interested I can offer the following and leave the rest to Tyler. 1. This spot was part of an overall admittedly absurd storyline about a crazy goat who becomes obsessed with Mountain Dew 2. The lady in front of the lineup is the waitress from the first spot. 3. The lineup consists of Tylers friends and odd future members who were available that day. (LBoy, Leftbrain, Garret from Trash Talk and Errol) 4. He absolutely never intended to spark a controversy about race. it was simply an again admittedly absurd story that was never meant to be taken seriously. Again we apologize if this was taken out of context and would never trivialize racism, especially now in America where voting and civil rights are being challenged at the highest level. I can however stand firmly by someone I have believed in since we met only because I know him and i know all of this was never his intent.
Tyler has also mentioned the commercial and the controversy on Twitter. Sending out the following tweets:

Jay-Z Talks About Executive Producing The Great Gatsby Soundtrack [VIDEO]
(AllHipHop News) As Jay-Z prepares to release the soundtrack to the upcoming film The Great Gatsby, the Hip-Hop mogul sat down with BlackTreeTV to discuss how he got involved with executive producing the project.
The Great Gatsby soundtrack will be released Tuesday, May 7th. The movie will hit theaters May 10th.

Chris Kelly, Kris Kross Rapper Dead At 34
(AllHipHop News) Chris Kelly, half of the rap group Kris Kross, has died suddenly at the young at of 34.
Fox 5 in Atlanta broke the story after the rapper was found unconscious ay his home today. The exact cause of death has not been revealed.
He was pronounced dead at 5:30 pm at Atlanta Medical Center.
As half of Kris Kross, Kelly was known as Daddy Mac, while his partner Chris Smith was known as “Mac Daddy.” In the 90’s, they scored a number of pop hits, most notably “Jump.”
The group reunited in February for a performance.

Emmett Till’s Family Rejects Lil Wayne’s “Apology”
(AllHipHop News) It seems like Emmett Till’s family is quite clear on what they wanted from Lil Wayne – an apology – and now they reject a letter that the rapper wrote to them today.
Lil Wayne may have used some clever wordplay in a publicist-issued letter issued today that seemed to be a formal apology for lyrics i “Karate Chop.” In the song, the rapper metaphorically speaking on how he would physically beat up a woman’s private parts like Emmett Till.
The Till family got the letter and said there was no actual apology in it.
Airickca Gordon-Taylor, Executive Director, Mamie Till Mobley Memorial Foundation and Till Family Representative, released the following statement.
We are aware of Lil Wayne’s statement of acknowledgement of our family’s pain and our disapproval of referencing Emmett Till in his lyrical content.
While it’s commendable that he has vowed to respect the legacy of Emmett Till and his memory to ‘not use or reference Emmett Till or the Till family in his music’, this statement falls short of an apology, as none is mentioned.
Lil Wayne has not commented on the matter yet.

Some thought it was an actual Louis Vuitton duffle bag, until the servers placed the candles on top of the cake and lit it.
The exclusive hand-crafted stitched detailed icing designs were perfectly molded on the gigantic edible masterpiece which makes history as one of the best cake designs ever.
