(AllHipHop News) Earlier this month, Big K.R.I.T. announced he is no longer part of the Def Jam roster. Billboard spoke with the Mississippi rapper/producer at the BET Hip Hop Awards about leaving the major label.

“I’ve always had my creative control but people just grow apart. The business was also changing, and it just happened. It is was it is,” K.R.I.T. explained. “I’m not going to elaborate into the extreme. It’s definitely a longer story but for the most part, it’s no love lost.”

Big K.R.I.T. recently partnered with Kenneth Whalum for “Might Not Be Ok.” The song has collected over 100,000 plays on SoundCloud in just five days.
