Desus Nice Calls “Big Cap” On Mero’s Breakdown Of Their Partnership “Corroding”

Desus Nice The Kid Mero

Apparently, the former business partners have different explanations for why their relationship ended.

Desus Nice and The Kid Mero built a popular brand as media personalities. The New York City-bred pair officially parted ways in 2022 leaving their fans questioning what happened between the Bodega Boys.

This week, The Kid Mero talked about his split from Desus Nice. The discussion took place on an episode of his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast with ex-NBA player Carmelo Anthony. Fellow podcaster Joe Budden also appeared on the show as a special guest.

“I’ma keep it a buck. At first, I was upset,” Mero told Carmelo Anthony and Joe Budden. “It’s the business. There’s no friends in the business. We were in a situation where I got four kids and two mortgages. I’m like, ‘Yo, if we get an offer from DraftKings for $1.5 [million] before they got logos on the NBA court, and you’re like, ‘Nah, bro this ain’t it.'”

The Bronx-raised comedian continued, “And I’m like, ‘Nah fam, I’m gambling illegally right now. This s### is legal in Jersey…  And they’re like, ‘Nah?’ I’m like, ‘F### out of here!’ To me, that’s the beginning of like, ‘Alright, this s### is corroding.'”

The Kid Mero Claims Desus Nice Turned Down Big Opportunity With Film Industry Kingmaker

Mero went on to say his goal was to establish a production company and own their intellectual property. He then stated his desire to license the IP but not sell it. The former Uncommon Sense cast member also claimed Desus turned down a movie opportunity with Hollywood producer Judd Apatow.

Desus Nice took to X to respond to The Kid Mero’s explanation for the Bodega Boys dissolution. The part-time guest host for Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Daily Show posted a gif of someone carrying a big cap, signifying he believed Mero lied on 7PM in Brooklyn.

In addition to presenting Bodega Boys podcast, Desus Nice and The Kid Mero also hosted several self-titled digital and television shows. Desus vs. Mero ran for 46 episodes on Complex TV. Later, they led Desus & Mero on Viceland for two seasons before the series moved to Showtime from 2019 to 2022.
