And in case there was any doubt, Detroit native Obie Trice is just such an artist. With Meek vs Drake now in the past-tense, and his new album The Hangover on the scene, Obie sat with AHH’s MrMecc and shared his thoughts on how it went down now that the dust has settled.
Kendrick Lamar is nearing the settlement of a copyright infringement lawsuit regarding a sample he used on “Rigamortis,” a track from his 2011 album Section.80, VIBE reports.
Jazz musicians Eric Reed and Willie Jones III claim that K. Dot used the rhythm of their track “The Thorn” without their permission and didn’t provide any financial compensation. They filed the lawsuit in Sept. 2014 for $1 million, which would cover lost earnings, damages, lawyer’s fee and back royalties. Reed and Jones III also want rights to the song.
The case can reportedly be settled sooner than later. Court documents state that “Parties report that they have reached a settlement and are awaiting two signatures.”
Kendrick Lamar has not commented on the status of the lawsuit.

Ice-T isn’t a fan of Kanye West’s latest designs. West showcased his new Yeezy 2 line during New York Fashion Week and it was full of nude tones, leotards and over-sized jackets and sweatshirts. Ice took to his Twitter to let it be known that he wasn’t really feeling the Yeezus look.

Yeezy’s latest garbs haven’t been getting the best reviews though. According to Radar Online, fashion critic Cathy Horyn said the line is “drab, broken-down basics that prove he can’t be taken seriously.”

Quincy Jones has been hospitalized due to shortness of breath, the Associated Press reports. The 82-year-old producer was taken to a Los Angeles hospital yesterday (Sept. 17) at 1:20 p.m but is said to be feeling okay now.
His publicist, Arnold Robinson, told the AP that Jones was taken to the hospital “for observations out of caution after having breathing problems Thursday.”
