Jay-Z Talks Collab Album W/ Beyonce, Dame Dash, Obama Texts + More

(AllHipHop News) Jay-Z has not done a radio interview in over two years but decided to stop by his good friend Angie Martinez’s show on Hot 97 to discuss everything from Magna Carta Holy Grail to Blue Ivy’s rhythm and more.

According to Jay-Z, the innovative promotion for Magna Carta Holy Grail will not stop with The White Stripes guitarist Jack White providing a limited edition vinyl for the song “Open Letter”. The vinyl will be shaped as a card and able to be played as vinyl. He also reveals that he will release video footage of studio sessions for his new album, including the recording of “BBC” which he says consisted of all the featured artists in the studio at the same time.

When asked if it was really him tweeting to fans during yesterday’s impromptu Q&A on Twitter, the 17 year veteran coyly responded “C’mon, who else can come up with that stuff?”

The most revelatory information in the interview revolved around two collaboration albums Jay-Z has been linked to, Watch The Throne 2 with Kanye West and a Best of Both Worlds album with his wife Beyonce. In regards to bringing back the Best of Both Worlds series this time with Beyonce, Hov flatly denied it will ever happen and alluded to the failed R. Kelly version as a reason why by simply stating, “No way. You saw how that one ended.”

In regards to the follow up to his successful Watch The Throne album with Kanye, one half of The Throne stuttered through his initial response before saying there will be another Watch The Throne album “hopefully”.

Check out the full interview below after a few interesting additional notes from the interview:

Jay-Z on the news

“It’s strange to see everybody’s agenda. CNN is like TMZ.”

Jay-Z on Obama during 2nd Election

“When he was getting elected the second time he was like ‘Hey, fourth quarter, just give me the ball.”

Trey Songz, Brandy, Janelle Monae, TGT, Charlie Wilson, New Edition, Solange, Jill Scott, Brandy, L.L. Cool J and many more were amongst the big names to grace the stage at the 2013 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana. The four-day festival saw a range of talent pass through the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The fest also included performances by acts like Faith Evans, Jody Watley, Leela James, Deep Cotton, Avery Sunshine, Greta Prince, PJ Morton, Bridget Kelly, Bilal and Big Daddy Kane in the Super Lounges around the arena before wrapping on Sunday with a massive performance from Beyoncé at the Superdome. What most Essence Festival fans like the most is the fact that the concert is in equal parts contemporary and throwback, with more than enough options to excite fans of R&B, soul, hip hop, funk and even the neo-soul and new-jack swing era that we so dearly miss.

It’s safe to say Trey Songz and TGT had all women swooning to their love-filled sets. Uncle Charlie Wilson and New Edition had everyone out of their seats “jamming” and dancing to each hit. Uncle Charlie opened his 70-minute set with “Party Train,” & took concert-goers down memory lane with classics from his Gap Band days (“You Dropped A Bomb On Me,” “Yearning for Your Love”), (“There Goes My Baby”) and introduced two new songs (“Turn Off the Lights” and “Love, Charlie”). R&B fans rocked in awe to both Uncle Charlie’s amazing energy and stage presence as well as for the memories classics like “Yearning For Your Love” brought back.

New Edition brought the house down performing their hits like “If It Isn’t Love” and the Bell Biv Devoe classic “Poison” Matching their sleek attire, was their silky performance.

Beyonce of course not only stole the night, but she stole the entire weekend with her electrifying performance of her hits since circa 2003. She closed with a beautiful rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” The diva didn’t miss a beat or a note and got the crowd rallied up with her “Who Run The World” and “Diva” performances amongst others.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Guess Who Will Walk Floyd Mayweather Out For Next Fight!

Recently, I commented on 50 Cent and Floyd putting their differences to the side.

Hip-Hop Rumors: 50 Cent And Floyd Mayweather – Friends Again?

Its cool that they are. But, lookie here…there is always some talk about who may come out with the rapper of choice for a boxer. Remember when Roy Jones, Jr. had Red and Meth bring him out? That was pretty epic. But its a new day….

ANYWAY, its looking like Lil Wayne is going to be bring out Floyd this September when he fights Canelo. The interview is below. Wayne is cooling off a bit so its interesting to see that he still gets that look. I would have hoped that 50 Cent would bring FM out since they are friends again. But, if you listen to the audio, Floyd gives a very PC answer when asked about their friendship.
