Jay-Z, Rihanna & More Celebs Call On The Justice Department To Reopen The DJ Henry Case

(AllHipHop News) According to multiple reports, a collective of celebrities have joined together to demand justice for Danroy “DJ” Henry. The African-American Pace University student was fatally shot by a Caucasian police officer in Mount Pleasant, New York in 2010.

Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, Robyn Rihanna Fenty, Pharrell Williams, Charlize Theron, Taraji P. Henson, Odell Beckham Jr., Michael K. Williams, Kerry Washington, Mary J. Blige, and Gabrielle Union were the signatories of a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice. They are calling on United States Attorney General William Barr to reopen the case.

On October 18, 2010, police were called to Finnegan’s Grill after customers at the establishment allegedly got into a fight. There are now a lot of discrepancies coming from witnesses at the scene about how the 20-year-old ended up dead because he was parked in a fire lane in front of the restaurant.

Apparently, a police officer knocked on Henry’s car window, and as he pulled the vehicle forward, police began yelling at him to stop. Pleasantville Officer Aaron Hess reportedly stepped in front of the car before getting on the hood. He then fired several shots through the windshield. DJ died while handcuffed on the pavement.

Hess claimed he was propelled onto the hood of the car as Henry attempted to drive towards him. However, during a deposition for the civil suit filed by the Henry family against Pleasantville and Hess, Mount Pleasant Officer Ronald Beckley stated that Hess was “mounting” the vehicle.

Beckley also admitted to shooting at Hess because he viewed him as the “aggressor.” In 2015, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York investigated the case and determined that the “evidence did not support charges.”

DJ’s parents, Angella and Danroy Henry Sr., reached a $6 million settlement with Pleasantville in 2016. The family also settled a civil lawsuit that included an apology and a $250,000 donation to the DJ Henry Dream Fund youth-centered nonprofit organization. Plus, over 45,000 people have signed a Change.org petition that calls for Aaron Hess to be charged with the murder of DJ Henry.

T.I. Celebrates Tiny’s Birthday With A Post About “Lifetime Entanglement”

(AllHipHop News) It appears Jada Pinkett Smith has officially added a new term to the pop culture lexicon. Thanks to an über-viral Red Table Talk episode, Smith’s use of “entanglement” to describe her extra-marital relationship with August Alsina has opened the door for others to embrace that characterization too.

https://twitter.com/iMarkkeyz/status/1281784854238175234

For example, Tip “T.I.” Harris took to Instagram to celebrate his wife’s birthday on July 14. The expediTIously podcast host posted an emoji-filled message for Tameka “Tiny” Harris. At one point, he wrote, “May nothing hurtful harmful or dangerous interrupt this Lifetime Entanglement. ( just had to).”

There have been rumors for years that T.I. was unfaithful to Tiny throughout their 10-year marriage. In 2016, the T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle reality show couple was reportedly close to getting a divorce before they eventually reconciled.

T.I. wrote on Instagram:

Kanye, Elon Musk Victims Of Twitter Hack

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West and Elon Musk have been targeted as part of a major hack on high profile Twitter accounts.

Former U.S. leader Barack Obama, 2020 presidential hopeful Joe Biden, and Bill Gates have also been alerted to the security breach, according to multiple reports.

“We are aware of a security incident impacting accounts on Twitter,” a representative for the site said in a statement posted on the micro-blogging platform’s support account. “We are investigating and taking steps to fix it. We will update everyone shortly.

“You may be unable to Tweet or reset your password while we review and address this incident.”

The hack appeared to be a bitcoin scam with messages posted to users’ accounts asking followers to send them money.

Corporate accounts, including those belonging to Uber and Apple, were also hacked.

An Uber spokesman says: “Like many others, our @Uber account was hit by a scammer today. The tweet has been deleted and we’re working directly with @Twitter to figure out what happened.”

The hack comes almost a year after Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey’s account was hijacked by pranksters tweeting racial slurs and a bomb threat. The messages were quickly removed.

Nick Cannon Fired By MTV For Incendiary Comments About Jewish

(AllHipHop News) Nick Cannon has been relieved of his duties at MTV by parent company Viacom after an old interview with Professor Griff of Public Enemy re-surfaced.

The entertainer was ultimately fired because he would not apologize for remarks he made during the interview.

“While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him,” Viacom said in a statement. “We are committed to doing better in our response to incidents of anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry. ViacomCBS will have further announcements on our efforts to combat hate of all kinds.”

Before the firing, Nick Cannon issued a statement.

“Anyone who knows me knows that I have no hate in my heart nor malice intentions. I do not condone hate speech nor the spread of hateful rhetoric. We are living in a time when it is more important than ever to promote unity and understanding.”

“The Black and Jewish communities have both faced enormous hatred, oppression persecution and prejudice for thousands of years and in many ways have and will continue to work together to overcome these obstacles. When you look at The Media, and other sectors in our nation’s history, African Americans and The people of the Jewish community have partnered to create some of the best, most revolutionary work we know today.”

“I am an advocate for people’s voices to be heard openly, fairly and candidly. In today’s conversation about anti-racism and social justice, I think we all – including myself – must continue educating one another and embrace uncomfortable conversations – it’s the only way we ALL get better. I encourage more healthy dialogue and welcome any experts, clergy, or spokespersons to any of my platforms to hold me accountable and correct me in any statement that I’ve made that has been projected as negative.”

“Until then, I hold myself accountable for this moment and take full responsibility because My intentions are only to show that as a beautiful human species we have way more commonalities than differences, So let’s embrace those as well as each other. We All Family!”

Nick Cannon has been employed by Viacom for decades, going back to Nickelodeon.

Tekashi 6ix9ine Flees The Internet For His Safety

(AllHipHop News) Tekashi 6ix9ine is taking a break from the internet, and it’s all for his safety.

Earlier today, fans noted the rap star’s IG went dark and he decided to deactivate his Instagram account.

Initial reports claimed he was ordered by the Feds to shutdown 6ix9ine’s social media account, however, his lawyer gave a different explanation.

Lance Lazzaro convinced his high-profile client to take a break from social media as he prepares to come off of house arrest.

Managers for the rapper are concerned he may inadvertently expose his new location and put his life in danger, and 6ix9ine is taking the threats seriously

Earlier this month, Tekashi’s other lawyer Dawn Florio revealed she was trying to convince the rapper to move away from the East coast, and hire 24-hour security.

Representatives from the rapper are convinced he is a marked man, after cooperating with the government to convict the top leadership of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.

Hell, even 6ix9ine himself noted that he was surprised to still be alive in one disturbing post on IG.

Tekashi 6ix9ine was offered a chance to join the witness protection program for his cooperation, but the rapper refused to resume his career as a Hip-Hop artist.

During his time on house arrest, 6ix9ine cranked out two hits – “Gooba” and the #1 single “Trollz” featuring Nicki Minaj.

6ix9ine is chilling for now, although he is preparing for a grand re-entry to the game after he gets situated in his new living conditions as a free man.

Boston Rapper Dtheflyest Talks “Fugazi” With Lil Baby

Dtheflyest has what most artists can only dream of: a Lil Baby feature. Beyond that, the official music video for “Fugazi” currently hails over 19.6 million views on Youtube and counting — completely organic and independent. The record itself is a certified banger, with D showcasing his ability to rap with trap melodies in his bars and hooks.

The crazy part is, the Brockton, Massachusetts native only started rapping two to three years ago. He states, “I have a passion for rap, feeling the music.” It was his manager who out of the blue one day told him he should start rapping. While he claims he wasn’t good to begin with, after practicing and practicing he began to get better and become more comfortable.

D is adamant on using his voice to do something positive and create change, doing his part when it comes to the recent acts of racism and police brutality. AllHipHop caught up with Dtheflyest in downtown Los Angeles to discuss how he got his start in music, the epic studio session with Lil Baby, love for fashion, goals, and more!

AllHipHop: Being from Boston, what was the household like growing up?

Dtheflyest: Well my parents are from Cape Verde in Africa. We used to listen to a lot of Cape Verdean music. My mom’s a young head so she liked hip-hop too. She really mixed that in, I got a bit of both cultures. I was a fan of music, I liked music. Growing up, I listened to Jadakiss, 50 Cent. As time went on, kept listening to more and more music. I listened to different music too, I listened to old R&B. I was listening to Tyler the Creator. I have a variety of music I listen to, don’t stick to one genre. I don’t want to crowd my thoughts with one type of music. I’ve been listening to jazz too, I like to catch a vibe.

AllHipHop: At what point did you hear yourself and think, “I could record too”?

Dtheflyest: When we started gaining a fanbase back home. People actually like my music and what I’m doing, so I turned it up a notch. Kept turning it up every chance I got. Now I’m so comfortable with music, I go in the studio: 15 minutes, banging out records. 40 minutes, banging out records. I don’t even write anymore, I just freestyle.

AllHipHop: You used to write?

Dtheflyest: I used to. Not necessarily I don’t write anymore, I jot down s##t. My recording process: I go in the studio, let the beat play, catch my melodies and go off of that.

AllHipHop: How did you start promoting yourself?

Dtheflyest: Word of mouth is our best promotion. We used to put music out on Soundcloud, videos on YouTube, go around and tell people about it. We’d go around to little shows and do little showcases, it worked out that way. I’m with a group [Bandits The Label], so it’s easier for us to gain some momentum because it’s a bunch of us. We got a whole city behind us. I’m from Brockton, 20 minutes out of Boston. The whole city was fighting for us to do what we have to do, ended up working out in our favor.

AllHipHop: Ace told me your homie EK is locked up. Talk about your crew.

Dtheflyest: No, he’s on house arrest now. We got EK, Flee, Grizz, and Dre. We got in-house producers too: Cru and Mike Congo. It’s a strong team, we got our manager Fab. We all got our heads on, all doing good things. EK’s about to be releasing more music but other than that, we’ve been recording. Saving what we got, getting ready for the summer.

AllHipHop: What’s the meaning behind Bandits The Label?

Dtheflyest: Through our regular lifestyle, we’re all bandits in a way. It only made sense. One of my friends owns a sneaker store, that’s one of the things he came up with: Banks n Bandits. We bandits too, how come can’t we run with that? We ran with that and it stuck, it’s more of a family thing.

AllHipHop: How’s your fanbase back in your hometown?

Dtheflyest: It’s beautiful, I love my hometown. It’s not really much out there, not much to look forward to. To have something for people to look up to and look forward to, it makes sense. People like it. We’re doing something positive for our city, giving us a good light so now people don’t be looking at us for all the negative s##t. It’s not that bad, but it’s bad at the same time. Shining the light on something positive really helps me sleep at night, knowing we’re doing something different for the community. Knowing kids have somebody to look up to. Growing up, I had no one to look up to. I looked up to all the dope boys. Now they got somebody positive to look up to, it feels good giving back to the community.

AllHipHop: AllHipHop: How old were you in the streets?

Dtheflyest: I’ve been in the streets since I was 15 years old. I don’t glorify it, but it’s part of my past. I’ve been in street situations, but I never let that stop me from doing anything. I’m never afraid to talk about it nor regret anything that I did. Because without them obstacles, I wouldn’t be who I am. It helped me grow up fast and keep my head on. Now when I’m maneuvering through this s##t, I really move like a grown man. I move on morals, I grew up on that.

AllHipHop: Did your parents raise you right?

Dtheflyest: Yeah, my dad was around. I was lucky to have my father around teaching me things, but I really picked up things around me. Whatever’s in my environment, I took it and soaked it in. I took what was best from it and applied to my daily life. I grew up around a lot of people with morals and principles, I couldn’t be around if I wasn’t following them same morals and principles around. I’m glad they instilled it in me at an early age.

AllHipHop: How’s the independent grind?

Dtheflyest: It’s hard, but it’s fun. The hardest part is the marketing, trying to find new routines, new methods to get a new listener. Walking down the street, no one’s going to listen to a random person saying “listen to my music.” You have to find new ways for people to get attached to the music, to become a fan of you. Other than that, it’s fun. Getting to eat all the money.

AllHipHop: Is a major label something you’re looking for?

Dtheflyest: It’d be good to have the help, but I like the grind. It gives you a goal. If you get the recipe, you get the system down pat, you can help someone else come up on the independent grind. You help build a timetable for everybody so everyone eats, instead of you going to the label like everybody else and you’re losing out on them. Ownership is big, especially now. If a label comes to the table and it makes sense, I won’t back away from it. If it doesn’t make sense, what’s the point?

AllHipHop: “Fugazi” has over 19.5 million views on Youtube. how’s that make you feel?

Dtheflyest: It makes me feel good, but it still feels unrealistic everyday. It doesn’t feel like it really happened. I got 19 mill with no label push, no major, no buying views, none of that. We got that naturally. It’s good to have something like that under your belt. Especially being an independent artist, I can go certain places and people know me. It made my grind a lot easier. I got work people can put behind my name, rather than you go listen to a bunch of my music I put out. The fact I have a song with 20 million views, it gives me something to bring up in conversation. I have a song with Lil Baby, he’s the biggest artist in the world.

AllHipHop: How’d you link with Lil Baby on “Fugazi”?

Dtheflyest: Lil Baby had a show in Boston, one of my people ended up knowing someone who worked for the show, they needed someone to open. They said I was the hardest artist in Boston, wanted me to open up. I opened up and the crowd reaction I got was crazy, nobody expected it. He’s like “who’s this, who’s this?” We started chatting with Lil Baby, they end up putting us on the rest of the tour.

AllHipHop: Was that when Baby dropped Harder Than Ever?

Dtheflyest: Yup. It was an eye-opening experience, it felt good. We ended up in the studio in Connecticut, made the record. He posted me on his Instagram an hour after we did it. It blew up from there, took its own life. I appreciate Baby for everything, real solid individual. He even brought me out to perform the song last time he’s in Boston, we performed it twice. He brought me out at a nightclub, then he brought me out at his show.

That studio session looked lit in the video, what was the environment like? I had the verse and the hook already, he put his verse on. A crazy environment because it’s someone I listen to on a daily basis. The fact he’s right in front of me, doing something for me, I’m watching him with my own eyes, it’s history. It was a great moment. He’s like “look at the camera, I’ma post this on my Instagram.” I didn’t think he’d actually do it, but he did. It made me feel completely different, an experience I’ll never forget.

AllHipHop: What was the best memory from the tour?

Dtheflyest: The tour was really fun, my first time being on the road. First time smelling the roses and performing at different places. It was fast too, I’ve only been rapping for 2 years. That was the first year and a half in. The fact it happened out of the blue, it gives me motivation everyday. When I lose motivation, I look at that video and how far I’ve come. It brings me up.

AllHipHop: What’d you learn from Baby, being how big he is?

Dtheflyest: I noticed how to move when you’re a big star. I learned how to perform, engage with the crowd. Everyday’s a new learning experience. People on tour were giving me tips on how to perform, giving me tips on how to engage more, I learned so much. I still apply it to my daily life today. It keeps me going, it’s all a learning experience. The more you experience and learn, it pushes you forward.

AllHipHop: Were you nervous?

Dtheflyest: Hell yeah, I still get nervous going on stage. Definitely nervous because I didn’t know what to expect, no one knows who I am still. You’re in front of people, you have to figure out a way to engage them. We learned how to engage, using those tips when we perform. I still get nervous sometimes, nothing wrong with being nervous.

AllHipHop: How do you get over your nerves?

Dtheflyest: I take a shot of liquor, go on stage and do what I do best.

AllHipHop: How’d you get your name?

Dtheflyest: I’m into fashion. I like getting dressed up. Dtheflyest was a natural name. I started calling myself, I’m Dtheflyest. I had that nickname for a long time, since 2013. It used to be my Instagram name, I ran with it and it stuck.

AllHipHop: What brands do you like?

Dtheflyest: Right now I’m on my local brand wave. All the local brands in my area, I tap into that. I’m more about pushing everybody up. All these companies get enough money. I buy my certain accessories from certain companies. I’ll buy Amiri jeans but other than that, I wear a lot of white tees and tank tops. Whenever I want to get dressed, I put on one of my French store shirts, some Amiris, some sneakers, keep it pushing.

AllHipHop: Baby definitely raps about Amiris.

Dtheflyest: A Boogie put me on Amiri, he got mad Amiris. A Boogie’s the Amiri king, he talks about Amiris a lot. I’m cool with everyone at Highbridge, shout out to them.

AllHipHop: How’d you tap in with them?

Dtheflyest: One of their homies found out I’m one of the hottest new artists from Boston, wanted to bring me out in Boston. Don Q brought me on stage to perform, that relationship built on its own. I ended up making a song with Don, got a couple songs. I ended up meeting Boogie, I got a song with Trap. I built with the whole team, they’re like family. I spent my damn near summer in Highbridge. Was there all the time, chillin’ on the block.

AllHipHop: What can we expect next music-wise?

Dtheflyest: My album’s already done, putting the final touches on that. Hopefully after this COVID nonsense, we can drop it in the streets. Right now, I’m not into dropping music. There’s so much going on, I don’t want to take light from that. Push everything that’s going, push all this police reform, help with our voices in any way possible. Worry about music after.

AllHipHop: Thoughts about everything that’s going on?

Dtheflyest: It’s crazy. When you see it everyday, it’s really instilled in your mind. It’s so normalized. Another name another day, we’re so used to that. This is really happening in front of our eyes, people not getting consequences for it. The fact that racism still exists, we’ve been on Earth for how long? We’re still going through the same issues. We need to use our voices to make changes. We have the energy to change the narrative. Once we can change the narrative, we need to push forward on that.

Music can wait, music’s going to be there for a long time. This day in age, we’re living in the history books. Put your stamp in the history book. Use your voice for something powerful, for something different. It makes no sense for me to release music and take the eyes off of what’s going on in America. They already killed that man in Atlanta for sleeping in the car, this still happening? I’d rather use my voice for something effective. The money’s going to come regardless. We have the chance to change history, why not be a part of that?

AllHipHop: How are the protests back home?

Dtheflyest: I’ve been involved in all of them. We’re trying to set up things we can do in the community, change the narrative, to push forward and create a system that’s equal and fair. Where I’m from, the system isn’t fair. Everybody I know has been to jail at least once, has been arrested. Driving in the city, you can get pulled over. At most it’s 15 minutes. They’ll tell you what your tickets for, that’s it. When I get pulled over, it’s an hour. They take me out the car, they search the whole car. Put you in cuffs like you did a crime, even though you didn’t on a simple traffic stop. Things like that need to change.

AllHipHop: Have you had your run-ins with the law?

Dtheflyest: Of course. Always, they’ll bother you just because. They cancel my shows, the police shut it down. I don’t let that stop me any time. I use my voice for something positive, not contributing to the negative. I could go on the internet and post negative things but that’s not what I’m here for. I want to use my voice for something effective and worth it. You gotta stand for something or else you die for nothing.

AllHipHop: Goals for yourself at this point of your career?

Dtheflyest: To become an established artist and create a pipeline from my community, my state to the masses. There’s so much talent where I’m from that goes unheard, I want to break down that door so everyone can eat and enjoy this lifestyle because everyone deserves it. We can use our voice to create something legendary, to do something when it mattered most. Use my voice for something positive.

Future & Drake’s “Life Is Good” Named Top Digital Single In RIAA’s 2020 Mid-Year Report

(AllHipHop News) The Recording Industry Association of America released its 2020 Mid-Year’s Best Gold & Platinum Report. The music organization presented information about the top songs and albums for the first half of the year.

According to the RIAA, Future’s “Life Is Good” featuring Drake was the Top Digital Song over the last six months. The High Off Life track has been certified 5x Multi-Platinum since its release in January.

The RIAA listed Lil Baby’s Platinum-certified My Turn and Lil Uzi Vert’s Platinum-certified Eternal Atake as one of the Top Albums along with Halsey’s Manic and Sam Hunt’s Southside. Future’s High Off Life, Eminem’s Music to Be Murdered By, and Jhené Aiko’s Chilombo reached Gold status.

Eleven Platinum singles made the RIAA’s Mid-Year Report. That list included Lil Baby’s “Sum 2 Prove,” Jack Harlow’s “Whats Poppin,” Lil Nas X & Cardi B’s “Rodeo,” Lil Mosey’s “Blueberry Faygo,” Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage,” 6ix9ine’s “Gooba,” and Travis Scott & Kid Cudi’s “The Scotts.”

DaBaby Scores Three Songs In The Top 10 With “Rockstar,” “Whats Poppin” & “For The Night”

(AllHipHop News) Jonathan “DaBaby” Kirk added his name to the music history books this week. The Charlotte-bred rapper currently has three songs in the Top 10 of the Hot 100 chart.

DaBaby’s “Rockstar” featuring Roddy Ricch sits atop the Billboard tally for the fifth week. In addition, guest features on Jack Harlow’s “Whats Poppin” and Pop Smoke’s “For The Night” make Kirk only the seventh act in history to have at least three songs in the top six positions at the same time.

The Beatles, Usher, 50 Cent, Drake, Justin Bieber, and Ariana Grande also pulled off the feat of having three tracks among the six most popular singles in the country simultaneously. Before DaBaby made the list, Grande was the last act to claim that accomplishment in 2019.

This week’s Hot 100 chart also included The Weeknd’s former #1 “Blinding Lights” rising one spot to #2. Harlow’s “Whats Poppin” featuring DaBaby, Tory Lanez, and Lil Wayne slipped one position to #3.

Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé’s “Savage” remained at #4. SAINt JHN’s “Roses” held onto #5. Pop Smoke’s “For the Night” with Lil Baby and DaBaby opened at #6. The rest of the Top 10 also consists of Lil Mosey’s “Blueberry Faygo” (#8), Doja Cat’s “Say So”(#9), and Justin Bieber’s “Intentions” featuring Quavo (#10).

‘Empire’ Actor Bryshere “Yazz” Gray Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

(AllHipHop News) Fox’s primetime soap opera Empire came to an end in April, but one of the show’s stars is now involved in real-life personal drama. Philadelphia native Bryshere Gray was arrested on domestic violence charges in Goodyear, Arizona on Monday morning.

Gray, best known as the fictional rapper Hakeem Lyon on Empire, is accused of assaulting a woman who identified herself as his wife. The Goodyear Police Department received a 911 call around 10:15 p.m on Sunday night from the alleged victim.

SWAT and crisis negotiations officers were sent to the location after Gray refused to exit the home. The 26-year-old actor was eventually arrested on charges of aggravated assault, assault, and disorderly conduct around 7:00 am the next morning.

The Goodyear Police Department posted the following statement on its Facebook page:

On Sunday night, July 12, 2020, at approximately 10:15 pm, Goodyear Police responded to a 911 call that an adult female victim had been allegedly assaulted at her Goodyear home by her husband, who she identified as Bryshere Gray, an actor on the TV series “Empire.” She was treated and released for her non life-threatening injuries. Goodyear Detectives and Victim’s Advocate continued to assist her after her discharge from the hospital. Goodyear Police responded to the Goodyear residence located in the 13000 block of S. 176th Lane, Goodyear, in an effort to contact Gray, but he refused to come out and speak with officers. Goodyear SWAT and Crisis Negotiations were called out to assist. Just after 7:00 am, Gray was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested and booked into the Maricopa County Jail on domestic violence charges.

Bryshere Gray is also known professionally as Yazz The Greatest. Besides being a cast member on Empire for all six seasons, he played Michael Bivins in BET’s 2017 biographical miniseries The New Edition Story.

Megan Thee Stallion Reportedly Listed As A “Victim” For Tory Lanez Arrest Incident

(AllHipHop News) News broke overnight that singer/rapper Daystar “Tory Lanez” Peterson was arrested in California for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle. Megan “Thee Stallion” Pete was said to be present at the scene as well.

Apparently, people witnessed individuals arguing inside an SUV in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood on Sunday morning around 4:30 am. Then shots were allegedly fired in the air before the vehicle left the area.

According to TMZ, police listed Megan as a “victim.” After Lanez was arrested, the “Savage” hitmaker was reportedly taken to a local hospital for injuries to her foot possibly from broken glass in the SUV.

Variety is reporting that an altercation began at a house party before leading to an argument inside the vehicle. Peterson and Pete were apparently the occupants of the automobile in question.

The alleged incident followed Megan The Stallion, Tory Lanez, and Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Kylie Jenner appearing together in an Instagram Live broadcast on Saturday night. At one point in the footage, an unknown person can be heard telling Megan to turn down the music because “PD just came by.”

TMZ‘s article suggests the three celebrities were at Jenner’s Holmby Hills residence but the gunfire took place in Hollywood Hills. As of press time, neither Tory Lanez nor Megan Thee Stallion have publicly addressed the situation.

Chance The Rapper Rejects Getting An “Endorsement” From Terry Crews

(AllHipHop News) As the 2020 presidential race heats up, debates about the candidates are also becoming a hot topic in Hip Hop. Apparently, being on the same ideological side with America’s Got Talent host Terry Crews was too far for Chance The Rapper.

Chance suggested Kanye West uploading a video about his late mother was enough to garner support to be the next President of the United States over Democratic former Vice President Joe Biden. The response to that message was overwhelmingly negative.

Numerous Twitter users pointed out to Chance that Kanye West has no political experience to be POTUS. He was also hit with countless tweets about how Ye did not even file the necessary paperwork to be on the ballot in November, how he has yet to share any serious policy proposals, and how the Yeezy boss was a longtime supporter of Donald Trump.

It was a Terry Crews tweet that seemed to have the most impact on Chance walking back his stance about West possibly being the next Commander in Chief. For weeks, Crews has been called an “Uncle Tom” and a “coon” after he repeatedly tried to equate the #BlackLivesMatter movement to African-Americans wanting to be superior to other races.

As Chance was facing a barrage of criticism on Twitter, Crews jumped into the conversation. In a since-deleted tweet, the White Chicks actor wrote, “@chancetherapper is just doing the math, and seeing a lot of things that don’t add up. This is what happens when you think for yourself.”

Chance then simply replied, “F*CK ” along with a gif of Denzel Washington as Malcolm X slamming his own hand on a table. The Big Day album creator returned to Twitter to further distance himself from Crews.

“Ok sprinting down the hill now: I understand the improbability of Ye winning the 46th Presidential seat and I understand that everyone voting for Biden isn’t necessarily doing so enthusiastically. I am for [Black] liberation and do not accept my recent endorsement from Terry Crews,” tweeted Chance.

In response, Crews offered, “Never endorsed you bro.” Meanwhile, other people on the social media platform took Chance to task for finding himself aligned with a man that has spent weeks wrongfully warning America that nationwide #BLM activists calling for the end of police violence and systemic racism were somehow a front for an anti-White movement.

Pop Smoke Scores First Top 10 Hit With “For The Night” Featuring Lil Baby & DaBaby

(AllHipHop News) Bashar “Pop Smoke” Jackson is no longer with us, but his music will live forever. The New York rapper’s Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon is currently the #1 album in America.

Pop Smoke also has a big presence on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. This week, he earned his first Top 10 entry when “For The Night” featuring Lil Baby and DaBaby debuted at #6.

Additionally, the Brooklyn Drill representative landed 19 songs on the Hot 100 simultaneously. Pop passed XXXTentacion (10) and Mac Miller (10) for the record of most posthumous chart entries at the same time.

Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon opened atop the Billboard 200 rankings, making Pop Smoke just the fourth Hip Hop artist to have a #1 album after death. He joined a list with only XXXTentacion, 2Pac, and The Notorious B.I.G.

Gattison- “Transformation” Video

(AllHipHop Music) Recording artist Gattison, says his new single “Transformation” was inspired by his ex-wife of 9 years, coming to terms with and accepting his sexuality and his church’s painful reaction to it all.

On his latest single “Transformation”, the Billboard charting singer shares a masterfully crafted and authentically autobiographical narrative that reflects a journey of self-exploration.

Though it’s a unique and genre-bending single and music video, there is a factual experience of transformation that authors Gattison’s life.

With infectious melodies and a tempo that makes your toes tap, Gattison sums up many of the lessons learned from living under religious and social pressures.

“Say what you gotta say when you feel it in your heart. Do what you gotta do because you’ve got more to gain than to lose.” said Gattinson.

As a POC, a gay man, an artist, a former minister in the church, a father and a person formerly in a “Mixed Orientation Marriage” Gattison knows all-too-well about nuance and complexity.

“When you listen to my music I want you to hear the diversity of my experience.” He goes on to say, “I want you to feel me pushing back on social norms to make room for the unique and abnormal that bring beauty to this life. I hope that you feel empowered to do the same.”

Gattison’s musical artistry stands in a lane of its own.

His original sound put his last single on the Dance Billboard charts at #43.

With over 200,000 streams on Spotify via the original and remixes of his last single “Picture Perfect”, Gattison has been privy to being featured on several coveted Spotify playlists, including Discover Weekly.

(AllHipHop Music) Producer EyeOnEyez recently released his new single “Shyne”.

EyeOnEyez linked up with YSL recording artist Lil Keed and rapper Frankie Smallz

Smallz’s raw and rasp delivery style serves as a stark contrast to Keed’s high energy and high pitched flow well when blended over EyeOnEyez hi-hats and deep 808s.

The supporting visuals released alongside the record showcase a money heist theme equally as energetic and exciting as the song itself.

(AllHipHop News) In 2017, it was revealed that Kanye West trademarked the name and idea for Yeezy Sound – a new streaming service.

So, what is Yeezy Sound, exactly?

It’s reportedly a fusion of exclusive video content, music, and a TV streaming platform, one that would rival some of the big dogs, including TIDAL, Apple Music, and Spotify.

There have been no confirmed plans of the platform’s launch.

Divers Recover Body Of “Glee” Actress Naya Rivera

(AllHipHop News) The search for Glee actress Naya Rivera is over, now that the police have recovered the actress’s body.

Naya went missing last Wednesday (July 8th) after she took her son Josey on a pontoon boat ride on Lake Piru.

A massive search began when the four-year-old was found on the pontoon boat by himself in a life preserver, asleep.

The search mission for Naya was intense, as underwater divers struggled and scoured through debris in Lake Piru to locate the body.

Divers finally found the actress in the northeast part of the lake, in waters about 60 ft deep.

Josey told investigators that his mom went swimming in the lake, but unfortunately, she never returned.

“There are a lot of currents on the lake that appear typically in the afternoon. We believe it was mid-afternoon when she disappeared, the idea being that the boat started drifting, it was unanchored and that she mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself,” Ventura County Sheriff Bill Ayub said during a press conference today (July 13th).

Medical examiners are currently conducting an autopsy and comparing dental records to confirm the body is Naya’s.

So far, investigators do not suspect suicide or foul play caused Naya’s death.

Kid Cudi Explains How He Turns His Pain Into Music

(AllHipHop News) Kid Cudi has learned to deal with his anxiety and depression by turning his “pain into music.”

The 36-year-old rapper is currently one of the hottest names in the music industry, with hit songs including his collaboration with Eminem – “The Adventures of Moon Man and Slim Shady” – under his belt.

However, his journey to the top hasn’t been easy, and he has frequently struggled with his mental health over the years.

“When we’re young, we face a lot of pressure to do things that harm us. We pretend to be happy when there’s a raging violent storm inside of our heart,” he admitted in a new video, which premiered on People.com.

“Once it was difficult for me to find the words. Anxiety and depression ruled my life for as long as I could remember. I was scared, I was sad, I felt like a damaged human swimming in a pool of emotions.”

Reflecting on the inspiration behind his tunes, Cudi, real name Scott Mescudi, admitted the sadness is a driving force behind many of the tracks.

“I knew I deserved peace and to be happy, but I didn’t know how,” he shared. “It took me a while to get to this place of commitment, to say I’m gonna get through this. To know that we can take our pain and turn it into something.

“I turn my pain into music. And my music is how I am different. And my difference is my power.”

Cudi’s video comes ahead of the Well Beings virtual town hall event, which he will also feature in alongside Ariel Winter, Bill Pullman, Sean Astin and Billy Porter, on July 14 at 11 am ET. Visit https://wellbeings.org/ to tune into the livestream.

Basketball Player Turned Producer Pliz Talks Producing For Bhad Bhabie & Tyga

Pliz has produced for some of the game’s biggest artists, from Bhad Bhabie to Tyga to Kevin Gates. Hailing from Wichita, Kansas, the basketball player turned producer loves to make music, with hopes of inspiring people back home to not only produce, but that they can do whatever they set their mind to.

While Pliz’ personality is more laidback, chill, and relaxed, his music is actually quite the opposite. His beats are super energized, and he uses music to portray that side of him. Having grown up playing basketball his entire life, there wasn’t much of a music scene in Wichita at all. You either played sports, or you went to school. After playing college basketball and trying to play professionally overseas in Germany, he came back and decided to pursue music full-time.

His most notable records to date include Tyga’s “Macarena” and quarantine-inspired hit “Bored In The House,” Bhad Bhabie’s “Young And Bhad” featuring City Girls, and Meek Mill’s “Millidelphia.” AllHipHop caught up with Pliz via FaceTime to discuss how he got his start producing, working with Bhad Bhabie, encounters with Meek Mill, studio vibes, and more!

AllHipHop: How did you get into producing?

Pliz: Growing up, I was in a rap group. I used to rap back in the day for fun. Once I finished playing basketball, I had a regular job that I didn’t like at all. I had to figure out what else I wanted to do so I went back to my music roots. I started messing around with making beats, I actually enjoy it a lot. I started doing it every day, every day, every day until I got better.

AllHipHop: Did you teach yourself?

Pliz: Yeah I taught myself messing around with Fruity Loops, also watching a lot of YouTube tutorials. A lot of trial and error, but I made it through.

AllHipHop: What made you trade in the hoop dreams for the music?

Pliz: I went to Germany for a little bit, it didn’t work out. Kept getting little injuries here and there, I got tired of going back and forth to find different places to play. It was super unstable, so I decided to stop trying and pursue music.

AllHipHop: What was the moment you realized you could do music for a living?

Pliz: I went to Atlanta in 2017 for the BMI Awards. I was around a lot of producers and songwriters and at that moment, it became real. I knew I could do it too, I was inspired being around all those people. At that moment, I started taking this serious.

AllHipHop: How did you get to produce for Bhad Bhabie?

Pliz: When I went to Atlanta during that trip, I met Bhad Bhabie. Her A&R Andrew Grant, a friend of mine, connected us. We did a session or two together, then I ended up moving to LA a couple months later. From there, we worked together all the time. I was around her all the time so we became close. We kept working from there.

AllHipHop: What records did you do for her?

Pliz: I did “Young And Bhad” featuring the City Girls. I did “Get Like Me” featuring NLE Choppa. I did “Babyface Savage” featuring Tory Lanez, that’s the biggest one I did.

AllHipHop: Was that in the studio?

Pliz: None of the records that are out we did in the studio. We did a lot of records in studio, but those aren’t out.

AllHipHop: How do you create a beat to fit her sound?

Pliz: I basically tell her what’s good. When I’m making the beat, I can hear her voice on it. Once I’m playing it for her, I’m telling her “yo, this will be good for you.” Steering her into liking the beat, tricking her a little bit. [laughs]

AllHipHop: How did you get to produce “Macarena” For Tyga?

Pliz: Derrick Milano is a songwriter I work with a lot. Derrick did a song for Tyga, it wasn’t “Macarena” but a different song. He ended up texting it to Tyga. Tyga asked him who did the beat for that song, so he told him it was me.

Derrick put me and Tyga in communication. I ended up sending him the “Macarena” beat. It was a whole different beat at first, it was a slower trap beat. Tyga asked me to change it and make it more of a West Coast vibe, so I did that. A month later, he had me come to the studio and played it for me. I’m like wow, crazy.

AllHipHop: Was your beat still sounding like it was?

Pliz: Well I had already changed it so I knew what the beat sounded like. I didn’t expect him to do the “Macarena” song on the beat. I named the beat “Macarena,” but I didn’t expect him to do the song.

AllHipHop: What was your reaction? Because that s##t went up.

Pliz: It did, it was crazy. I was in the clip he posted, you can actually see my reaction when I first heard it. My first time hearing it, it was crazy. A real moment.

AllHipHop: What about “Bored In The House” for Tyga?

Pliz: That one was a little different. It was already viral on TikTok but there wasn’t a beat to it, so I put a beat to it. That was a little different. I took the original clip of Curtis Roach beating on a table with his hands, went and made it an actual beat so that it could get played on radio.

AllHipHop: That song’s so catchy, what’d it mean to have that come out during quarantine?

Pliz: It’s the quarantine anthem! It was a big moment for me to be a part of that record because I hear it on the radio. It’s getting a lot of sync requests to be on TV shows. Everybody’s always posting “bored in the house, bored in the house,” so that’s the quarantine anthem.

AllHipHop: You also did Tyga’s “FREAK”!

Pliz: I’m mad about “Freak,” quarantine messed it up. The NBA shut down the week after “Freak” dropped. Once that happened, basically the world shut down so we didn’t really get a chance to get that song in the clubs. That’s a club song, nobody got to really go out and hear it. I was disappointed it really didn’t get a chance to form, it’s a hard record though.

AllHipHop: Are you typically outside?

Pliz: Nah, I’m in the house every day anyways. I actually thought I was in the house a lot until I was actually forced to stay in there. It made me realize that I do move around a little bit and I miss it.

AllHipHop: When did you come to LA?

Pliz: I came to LA two years ago. Christmas time 2017 is when I moved to LA, so it’s been almost three years. I came here to pursue music. Andrew was telling me he could get me more sessions with Bhad Bhabie and help me get my foot in the door. I took the leap of faith and God answered. It worked.

AllHipHop: What do you have on Tyga’s upcoming project?

Pliz: I got a lot of stuff. I don’t know what’s all going to make it, but I have at least six or seven songs on there. He’s going for a new sound. It’ll be a couple of the typical 100 BPM songs, but it’ll also be him experimenting and getting into different pockets. I’m a real huge part of that process.

AllHipHop: Talk about working on “Millidelphia” for Meek Mill.

Pliz: I was working with London Jae, that’s my dawg. Him and Derrick, I owe them so much. London was telling me he’s working with Meek, he was looking for tracks so I sent him a pack. Two months later, the label hit me up telling me I had a song with Meek. I’m like “how?” I didn’t send no beats. I hit up London, “they hit me up saying I have one with Meek, did you send some over there?” He said “oh yeah I did, I forgot to tell you.”

The crazy thing is I met Meek after that too. I used to work at Beauty & Essex doing security. Atlantic Records was throwing a party, Dallas was throwing it. I didn’t even know who none of those guys were, but I was on email with Dallas. I heard somebody say his name so I assumed that it was him. I walked up and introduce myself, told him who I was. He’s like “what?! You work here? That’s crazy! Have you met Meek?” He took me to the back room where Meek was, told him “this is the dude who produced “Millidelphia.”

It was a cool moment. After that, they went to Club Avenue, which I was doing security there too. As soon as Beauty & Essex shut down, I went over to Avenue. As soon as I walked in the door, he’s in there playing “Millidelphia.” That was a crazy night.

AllHipHop: How do you create a vibe in the studio?

Pliz: It doesn’t really take much. I like lights, colorful lights. I like to be in there by myself. Sometimes when I have a lot of people, I feel like I’m being rushed. I do both though. I can make music with people there but I like making music by myself because I can go through sounds and take my time. I need a laptop, some speakers, colorful lights, and I’m good.

AllHipHop: What’d you produce for Kevin Gates?

Pliz: I did “Let It Sing,” that’s my first placement actually. It’s on his first EP when he had first got out of jail. Prior to that, I had a session at APG with Trinidad James and Jim Levine. We came up with an idea, ended up sending it to Gates’ A&R and he liked it. He played it for Gates and Gates liked it too, he ended up using it. He had a video and everything, it was crazy. People back home couldn’t believe it.

AllHipHop: It seems like things are so organic for you.

Pliz: Everything, that’s what I’m saying. Everything off love for sure.

AllHipHop: How did you get to produce for Davido?

Pliz: That came through another producer, Ray Keys. We did an Afro-type beat a year before that record even came out. I’d forgotten about it but then Ray hit me up telling me “yo, Davido got on that record. He got Gunna and A Boogie on it.” I’m like “what?! That one we did a year ago?” He’s like “yeah.” Crazy, he put that whole play together. That’s another one that was off love.

AllHipHop: How was working with Quando Rondo?

Pliz: We were in the studio on that one. I pulled up on him at Paramount. Hung out with him, talked to him for a little bit to see what his vibe was. I started playing beats, that’s actually the first one I played. I played another one, he’s like “nah, go back to the first one.” He loaded it up and he did the song. We started it right there, I ended up leaving but he finished the record. That record came out hard too, I like that one a lot.

AllHipHop: Did you think you’d be here where you are today?

Pliz: Nah, especially coming from Wichita. A lot of people don’t even know where it’s at. You don’t even know how to pronounce it, that lets you know it’s an unknown place. Coming from there, there’s no type of music scene. The opportunity is very limited. I used to tell people all the time, “yo I’m about to go to LA and become a producer.” I didn’t even know how I was going to do it, I was just saying it. Really talking for real. People would look at me like “we’ll see.” Now it’s happening, it’s crazy.

AllHipHop: What are some goals for yourself at this point of your career?

Pliz: Really build my brand and my foundation. Get more records out, get some plaques, more billboards. I have to do more to solidify that. I didn’t want to come out here and get couple placements, then “now I gotta go back home.” I want to do it for real.
