The Red Sox Are Chasing Drake Around For A Performance

(AllHipHop News) The Boston Red Sox have hatched a plan to land a performance from superstar rapper Drake this summer.

According to team president Sam Kennedy, the team is pursuing Drake in hopes of making Fenway Park more of a destination for non-baseball events.

“We’ve been approaching Drake this year,” Kennedy told the Boston Herald. “We would love to have Drake come and we understand he’s not doing a big summer tour. But that’s an example of someone (we’ve) proactively gone out after.”

Although the Red Sox have not had any luck yet booking Drake, they hope that they will be able to bypass his handlers or booking agents and negotiate with the rapper for a one-off directly.

“Typically the concerts are routed either by Live Nation or AIG and a very set number of dates are going to play in a set number of cities and locations,” Kennedy said. “But when folks go off and do one-off shows like Pearl Jam did last summer, we’re able to make a pitch directly to them and say, ‘This is why you should come to Fenway on a one-off basis.'”

An appearance by Drake at Fenway Park would no doubt excite the fans, since the rapper’s music is among the most popular walkup and warm up songs for the MLB.

N.O. United! New Orleans Rap Collective RSN Releases “Hatin’ On Me” Visual

With all of the violence taking place in New Orleans, it’s refreshing to see that a group of artists from different parts of the city have joined forces to unite behind the common cause of music!

RSN wants to follow in the footsteps of No Limit Records and Cash Money Records when it comes to introducing the world to the talent that is in their city. They certainly plan to put N.O’s contemporary rap scene on the map.

The artists came together by joining forces at a number of cyphers. One in 2011 and another in 2013. The cyphers proved that the artists meshed well together, and that coming from various backgrounds and neighborhoods was actually an advantage.

In October 2013, a second cypher came together, inspiring CD (who coordinated the cypher) to start a music group.

In the months following, CD, Dinero, and others joined forces. They brought in artists from all over and debuted the first RSN mixtape. The album includes contributions from Dinero, Flow, LG, Lil One, Bonka, Taliban Bundy, Tre-G, Calliope Var, Iris P, and sound by B. Holmes, FlightSchool, Phil Mic, Aj Beatz, and SkinnerTracks[b].

RSN, which stands for “Real Street N-ggas” released their second mixtape in September, ‘RSN2’, and are now sharing their latest video “Hatin On Me” featuring Dinero, LOG and G. Lil One. Check it out and be sure to look up all the other RSN artists.

#DMVOnTheMove: Here’s 12 Emerging Acts Elevating The DC-Maryland-Virginia Hip Hop Scene

(AllHipHop Features) Since its inception four decades ago, Hip Hop has dispersed its influence across the North American continent.

New York City birthed the entire culture. Los Angeles popularized Gangsta Rap and G-Funk. Atlanta became the capital of Trap music. Toronto helped usher in an R&B hybrid sound. Chicago served as the early stomping grounds for many of rap music’s current fresh faces.

But there is another locale mounting a growing movement that’s capable of being a new Hip Hop epicenter in the near future. The DMV is no longer a region just known for politics, protests, and professional football. Music has come to be a valuable export as well.

Performers such as Wale, Oddisee, Logic, King Los, Shy “Jefe” Glizzy, Fat Trel, and Goldlink laid the foundation. Now more acts have picked up the baton for DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Over the last year, I connected with a dozen acts for AllHipHop.com’s #DMVOnTheMove interview series. Those up-and-coming artisans offered his or her own unique musical outlook, and they all take pride in playing a part in making the DMV an international Hip Hop hotspot.

Catch the wave of these 12 emerging acts elevating the Hip Hop scene surrounding the nation’s capital.

Ace Cosgrove Embraces Representing The Youth’s Vigilant, Hostile Voice

The Hostile Youth member caught the ear of Showtime watchers when his song “Making Moves” was featured on an episode of House Of Lies. Securing placement on a premium cable channel is a major move, but Ace’s core fan base is just as pleased with his tendency to open up in his tunes about Freddie Gray, friends, and faith.

“Religion plays a big role. I’m not a super-religious person, meaning I don’t go to church every Sunday, but to me, I feel like I made it this far because of my guardian angels and hard work,” responds Cosgrove when asked about the role of religion in his creative process. “I think sometimes when we as humans reach a low point we tend to lose our faith, so I talk a lot about that in my music.”

Chaz French Uses Vulnerability In His Music To Foster Positivity In His Listeners

Chaz French put his evolving state of mind on display by following Happy Belated with These Things Take Time. The former was a somber collection from the onetime church drummer, while the latter presented a brighter view. However, the value of fatherhood overlaps both projects.

“Who wants to be in a dark mood all the time? I’m trying to get people out of dark places and let people know it’s cool to be happy, it’s cool to smile, it’s cool to be uplifting, it’s cool to be positive,” declares French. “Positivity is not something that people like to glorify, so I want to be one of those people that brings a positive message and has a positive influence on the youth and my listeners.”

Ignorantly Delivering Knowledge – that’s the meaning behind the IDK in this star-on-the-rise’s stage name. The HXLY TRiBE leader did a masterful job of personifying that mantra through his SubTrap and The Empty Bank albums.

Malcs Went From Sneakerhead Entrepreneur To Emcee On The Rise

Rappers often attempt to follow Jay Z’s famous quote – “I’m not a businessman. I’m a business, man.” In many ways, Malcs epitomizes that statement. He launched the popular SneakHeat brand before trying his hand as an OG Ron C-endorsed rhymer.

“I feel like sometimes you get boxed in as an artist to just do music. But then you hear Drake signed a deal with Jordan Brand. Obviously, that’s corporate. Kanye signs a deal with Adidas. Obviously, that’s corporate,” Malcs points out. “They’re all doing businesses. I just feel like I did it the reverse way. I started a business and then introduced the music afterward.”

“There was a guy with a boombox and a mic on Canal Street rapping and selling mixtapes. My dad told the guy, ‘Hey man, let my daughter get on the mic,” recalls RA. “He did, and the more I rhymed, the bigger the crowd around me got. Music was literally the end-all, be-all for me after that.”

“I honestly can do everything. Some motherf-ckers be like, ‘I can do everything.’ No, I really can do everything. That’s why I gravitated to people like Nelly and Swizz Beatz. Hit The Street: AllHipHop Talks Donald Trump, Jim Brown, Kanye West, Steve Harvey And Chrisette Michele

What was once a bad dream we couldn’t wait to wake up from is now our scariest reality for the next four years. Obama is leaving us and his replacement is “President Donald Trump,” a phrase people are having a difficult time accepting and even verbalizing.

The controversy behind the 2017 presidential election has been so staggering it has even caused us to judge the opinions of our favorite celebrities for supporting their countries decision. Steve Harvey, Jim Brown, Chrisette Michelle and even Kanye West have all been called in question by the popular opinion of social media. In the words of the man some still consider their president in order for change to come we must step from behind the computer and do something.

So @DJDNELLZ took it to the streets to find out how people felt about celebrities who supports trump, and if they themselves would give Trump a chance. Or are the people opting to stay single and not claiming a president at all.

Watch below.

50 Cent Says Everyone Was “Afraid” Of Him When He Started Out

(AllHipHop News) Rapper 50 Cent thinks people used to be “afraid” of him when he first started out.

The hip hop star has made a name for himself in both the music and film industries, thanks to hits like “In Da Club” and appearances in movies such as 2015’s “Southpaw.”

But he hasn’t always felt as though luck was on his side when it comes to his talents, especially as he hasn’t received any awards for his musical skills.

“I’ve gained respect from the public,” he told Muscle & Fitness magazine. “But I think some people were afraid of me from the very beginning. The trophy would mean that maybe the kids would want to be 50 Cent. But kids bought (album Get Rich or Die Tryin’) or it wouldn’t have been so successful. But they didn’t want to give trophies to it.”

50, real name Curtis Jackson, still performs his music and although he admits to tiring of his older music, such as “Outta Control” and “Candy Shop,” the 41-year-old is happy to deliver to the crowds.

He notes the key to a successful gig is a balance between playing his biggest hits and new material as he loves the “energy” he feels when playing fresh tracks.

“I mean, I could just play the first record. People love the material so much that it makes the time period. People tell me, ‘Yo, you are my college years.’ Those people don’t move,” he said of his fans.

He also touched upon the career of late popstar Prince, who would play exactly what he wanted to and leave the audience guessing what song would come next but still sold out concerts.

Kodak Black Launches A Clothing Line

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Kodak Black has launched his own clothing line and merchandise brand.

The 19-year-old has launched a website for his Sniper Gang clothing line, which also features new music and upcoming tour dates.

Kodak Black will use the site to post blog articles about himself and his life and he has also launched a mobile app that allows his fans to stay up to date with his projects.

The new website comes a month after he was extradited to South Carolina in December of 2016 to face sexual battery charges following a two-month stint in a Florida jail.

The “Skrt” hitmaker pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of possession of 20 grams or less of cannabis and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and was sentenced to 120 days behind bars in September of 2016.

He was extradited to South Carolina to face a criminal sexual conduct charge after he was accused of committing sexual battery at a Florence hotel in February of 2016.
His attorney previously insisted he is confident his client will be found innocent.

Norwegian Newspaper Says Tidal Is Inflating Its Numbers

(AllHipHop News) The numbers behind Jay Z’s streaming music service Tidal are being scrutinized by a Norwegian newspaper.

The Norwegian paper Dagens Næringsliv published a lengthy article on the streaming music service today (January 20), claiming the company has been inflating its subscriber numbers.

According to the report, Tidal only had about 350,000 subscribers in September 2015, the same month Jay Z tweeted that the service had reached one million users.

Additionally, the report claims Jay and Tidal have been touting the fact that the platform has three million subscribers, however when the label submitted an actual report to the major labels, it had closer to one million subscribers.

“We are excited that one year after TIDAL launched, we have surpassed 3 million subscribers globally,” a spokesperson claimed.

Jay Z knew the numbers were inflated after he bought the company, because a spokesman for Tidal claimed they were serving the former owners, Aspiro, with a lawsuit back in March.

That was the same statement that said Tidal had 3 million subscribers.

According to The Verge, the lawsuit has yet to materialize and Tidal has yet to release a new statement clarifying the press release issued in March, stating the service had three million subscribers.

Did Meek Mill Take A Shot At Chris Brown & Soulja Boy?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Meek Mill seems to have to always let his opinion be known, even if it’s through subliminal disses.

I swear the man always has an unsolicited opinion about something.

Anyway it looks like Meek Mill is seemingly weighing in on the Chris Brown and Soulja Boy beef by dissing both artists with a subliminal jab.

Meek took to his Snap Chat to post a clip that said,

“All these n-ggas joining gangs cuz they p-ssy and they need help.

Judging by all of their behavior as well as they “boxing” videos, all three need help in the ring and from a local psychologist.

Meek isn’t exactly the best person to speak on anything as he unfortunately is one of the members of the consistent “L” taking team.

However Meek Mill, isn’t the only one who seemed to allude to the Soulja Boy and Chris Brown situation with an indirect opinion.

Nick Cannon seemed to make a valid point when he said that these people and artists are joining gangs because they are insecure and because they lack guidance.

“When you come into money and fame at a very young age you feel like you have to prove something to the world. You feel like you gotta prove you are a man. You feel like you have to prove that you are a real n-gga. You hardcore,” said Nick.

He says that people go run with the wrong people and get all of these tats to try to “prove” that they are real men.

I don’t understand why they feel that that proves that that’s being a real man. It’s crazy for these entertainers [with this foolishness] especially since they’ve made it.

But if Meek Mill is going to make a statement he needs to put some names on these claims. Actually he needs to be quiet. LOL.

Quavo: Migos Should Be Considered Among The Best Rappers Alive (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Migos are having the biggest moment of their career right now.

The trio’s single “Bad And Boujee” hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the song spawned the trendy “rain drop, drop top” meme on social media.

Even with those pop culture contributions, group member Quavo suggested Migos are not properly acknowledged for their talent.

“We count each other as rappers to me, so I feel like we should all be up under who’s the best rapper alive, best top ten, and stuff like that. They won’t even count us in that,” Quavo told DJ Scream.

He continued, “So it’s us taking that culture and just giving it to them like, ‘Alright, since y’all don’t want to credit us as the best rappers or the young hottest emcees, let’s just take over the whole culture wave.'”

However, Migos have received praise from fellow Atlanta native Donald “Childish Gambino” Glover.

The award-winning rapper/actor called Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff “The Beatles of this generation.”

Migos will have the chance to help earn more respect as artists when they drop their Culture album on January 27.

The statue looks nothing like Tupac. In fact it looks like everyone but Tupac.

T.I. was one of the Pac fans who was definitely upset. He claims that Tupac himself would tear the statue down!

“What the f-ck is this. Dis supposed to be Pac. This ain’t no got damn Tupac. Man please. It look like 2Paul, it looks like two n-ggas named Paul mixed together. Man what the hell. Pac died when he was 25, that n-gga look 63 at least. Nah cuz, nah holmes yall aint gonna do my dog like that. Look at his posture, Pac ain’t never walked like this. Man what the f-ck. Incarcerated New Orleans Rapper B.G. Could Be Home In A Year

(AllHipHop News) If Cash Money Records boss Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Young Money founder Lil Wayne can get their acts together, a full fledged reunion between legendary Hip-Hop group The Hot Boys could be a reality.

In a recent interview with DJ Smallz, New Orleans rapper T.Y. said that B.G. could be out very soon – meaning within a year.

The info is coming from a great source, since T.Y., who is also on the roster of Curren$y’s Jet Life imprint, is B.G.’s biological son.

B.G. was sentenced to 14 years in prison in June of 2012, for weapons possession and witness tampering.

His legal issues stemmed from an incident in which B.G. and two associates were caught in a stolen car, which also had three guns. Two of the weapons were reported stolen, and police also found two extended clips in the video.

Although B.G. technically has nine years left to serve, he could be coming home early.

“He’s coming home. Like within probably this year,” T.Y. confirmed. “If not this year, next year for sure. But we shooting for this year, you feel me? ‘Cause he been telling me all kind of good s##t.”

In August of 2015, the Hot Boys sort of reunited at the rapper’s first annual Lil Weezyana Festival in New Orleans.

Wayne, Turk, Juvenile and Mannie Fresh hit the stage to run through their hits like “I Need a Hot Girl,” “Back That Ass Up,” and B.G.’s “Bling Bling.”

But the reunion wasn’t complete without B.G. According to T.Y., his father is inspired and focused, while waiting for his release.

However, in June of 2016, Hot Boys member Turk told AllHipHop.com that there would be no Hot Boys reunion without B.G.

“Like I’ve always said, there can’t be a Hot Boys reunion without B.G.,” Turk told AllHipHop.com.

Why Was Dave East Kicked Out Of The Mall?

(AllHipHop Rumors) We are not sure what happened to Dave East or why he was kicked out of them all, but he wasn’t too happy about it.

The Harlem rapper had an in store promotion down in Richmond, Virgina today.

He posted and deleted a video of himself being thrown out of the mall by a security guard.

The rap star had some unkind words for being booted from the mall with his friends.

“White People Don’t Do This To White People SmH Dummy #SheVotedForTrump.”

Let’s hope his in store in Virginia went better.

Will Jennifer Lopez Appear On Drake’s ‘More Life’ Album?

(AllHipHopRumors) Jenny From The Block just might make the album.

Listen while we have love for J-Lo and Drake, I’m not sure anyone really is craving for a collaboration from them.

Sure their “relationship” is a good publicity stunt for some demographic somewhere, but to many this doesn’t scream good music.

I don’t really believe their relationship is real but I do believe that Drake could be hitting that with J-Lo’s cougar ways, and Drake’s community D ways.

Anyway while J-Lo won’t confirm if her and the 6 God are really dating, she has revealed to Entertainment Tonight that they’ve made at least one song together, and that she’s waiting to see if it will make his forthcoming album, ‘More Life’.

“He just asked me to do a song with him and that’s what we’ve been doing. We’ll see if it’s on his next album,” said J-Lo.

Drake looks to definitely be in the picture though as USWeekly claims that Drizzy has even been introduced to Lopez’ kids.

“Drake has been hanging out at Jennifer’s new house in Bel Air. He has been there several times and is getting to know her kids. They all have a lot of fun together. Her kids really like him and they know all of his songs. They like having him around. Drizzy loves seeing Jennifer in mom mode. When he goes to her house, they get away from work and just chill on the couch, make dinner and watch movies.” claims an insider.

I don’t think they’ll talk about their relationship beyond the professional aspect of it anytime soon, but the cuddle pic they posted definitely was to bait us in. Drake has been walking on by when he’s asked about his relationship also. Are you hoping to see J-Lo on Drake’s album?
