6ix9ine was reportedly arrested in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday (January 17). According to ABC News, he’s being held at a jail in the capital of Santo Domingo. He’s expected to appear in court on domestic violence charges on Thursday (January 18). A judge will determine whether to keep him behind bars or release him on bond pending an investigation into the allegations.

6ix9ine stands accused of assaulting his Dominican rapper girlfriend Yailín la Más Viral. Her mother filed the complaint regarding an incident that allegedly took place on December 28, 2023.

The polarizing rapper has a slew of legal troubles to sort out. Last October, he was arrested at a local seaside hotel after being accused of assaulting local music producers Cristian Anthony Rojas and Nelson Alfonso Hilario García. 6ix9ine and la Más Viral had been recording at the producer’s studio. He spent just over a week in jail and was released on bail.

6ix9ine’s legal issues are well documented in the United States. He was previously accused of using a violent gang as a “personal hit squad” but avoided a lengthy prison sentence after testifying against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, earning him the nickname “Snitch9ine.”

In November 2023, a Florida jury awarded $9.8 million to a dancer who accused 6ix9ine of hitting her in the head with a bottle of champagne at the Gold Rush strip club in Miami. Alexis Salaberrios secured a victory in her lawsuit against him after he failed to appear at a civil trial last July. Salaberrios struggled to collect her $9.8 million award from 6ix9ine. She claimed he hid his assets to avoid paying her what he owed. Months later, she sought to seize his income to satisfy the judgment.
