Lizzo & SZA To Headline 2023 Made In America Festival

The 2023 Made in America Festival will take place in Philadelphia during Labor Day weekend. Organizers of the event tapped R&B singers SZA and Lizzo as this year’s headliners.

In addition, Made In America will host performances by Miguel, Tems, Metro Boomin, Ice Spice, Coi Leray, Latto, Lil Yachty, Doechii, Lola Brooke, Coco Jones, TiaCorine and more acts.

There will also be a “very special joint set” by Harlem-bred rappers Ma$e and Cam’ron. The two-day MIA festival returns to Benjamin Franklin Parkway on September 2 and 3.

Lizzo heads to Philadelphia for Made In America following the release of the Billboard 200 chart-topping 2022 studio LP Special. The “About Damn Time” single spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

SZA’s SOS album dominated the Billboard 200 for 10 non-consecutive weeks in 2022 and 2023. The Top Dawg Entertainment recording artist also scored a No. 1 hit on the Hot 100 with her “Kill Bill” song.

50 Cent’s Liquor Company Reaches Settlement In Rémy Martin Copyright Dispute

It’s not that often 50 Cent has to throw in the proverbial towel. However, after wrestling in court with Rémy Martin, he’s given up his fight. According to TMZ, the two liquor brands settled an almost two-year dispute claiming the Queens rapper copied the Rémy Martin XO’s bottle design.

As previously reported by AllHipHop, Rémy Martin filed a copyright infringement complaint against 50 Cent/ Sire Spirits in Manhattan federal court. The company explained Rémy Martin’s Centaure de Diamant bottle has a unique jeweled design that was the only one like it in the market. It believes 50 Cent’s brand’s bottle is so similar, it can cause confusion with the consumer. Sire Spirits denied copying the legacy brand.

The settlement has been in the works for months. Court documents obtained by AllHipHop in March stated both sides asked a judge to step in and finalize the deal.

“Rémy Martin and Sire Spirits respectfully submit this joint request for a 14-day adjournment of the status conference currently scheduled for Friday, March 3, 2023,” lawyers informed the court. “Rémy Martin and Sire Spirits make this request to allow the parties time to complete settlement negotiations and finalize a settlement agreement and will provide the Court with an update on or before Friday, March 17, 2023.”

The settlement was made on June 1. While 50 Cent hasn’t commented on the agreement, although Rémy Martin has, saying the company is happy the trademark and patent dispute has ended.

“She Was Violated”: Twitter Blasts YK Osiris For Kissing Sukihana Without Permission

YK Osiris took his shot and tried to kiss rapper Sukihana. However, it didn’t seem like the Delaware native was with it. It also didn’t seem like he cared that his was violating her.

A video from the analyst panel at Diddy’s recent Crew League event is circulating on social media. The “Pretty and Ratchet” rapper was posted up on the panel with comedians Lil Duval and Funny Marco.

https://twitter.com/rapalert1O/status/1668810799018840065?s=20

In the clip, YK Osiris appears to be giving her a deep shoulder massage but then he goes for the kill, kissing her on her cheek, grabbing her face and then going in for her mouth. She noticeably squirms while he laughs.

Funny Marco and Duval look at each other in disbelief, with the Florida comedian shouting, “She wasn’t ready.” As she protests and eventually regains her breath, he grabs her and tries to kiss her again. He then walks away chuckling at what he just did. Twitter instantly erupted, suggesting a crime had been committed.

One person tweeted, “#Sukihana said help me and none of those men  (Duval or Funny Marco) tried stop that lil boy. I hope she presses charges against YK Osiris for SA. Do not touch or talk sexually to women without their consent! No and stop is a complete sentence!”

With another replying and saying, “Pressing charges is OD but a conversation needs to be had and consequences and changes need to happen.”

And one more saying, “Sis, pressing charges for sexual assault and harassment is a Right and stops abuse. I don’t condone abuse of women but if you are okay with not getting the law involved in SA then that’s on YOU!.”

“Even though I am not a fan of #sukihana, she was violated,” one Twitter user stated after a commenter talked about the rapper’s sexually driven persona.

Adding, “What upsets me the most is #lilduval  and #funnymarco just laughed. I guess her screams weren’t loud enough. Her body language wasn’t readable to them. I don’t care what she does, she didn’t deserve this s###! Period.”

DJ Khaled Injured In Surfing Accident: “I’m In So Much Pain”

DJ Khaled got into some trouble while pursuing one of many of his water sports activities recently. The “GOD DID” hitmaker was on the water in Florida with an electric hydrofoil surfboard. While he seemed in control while cruising on his knees, DJ Khaled became unstuck when he tried to crank it up a notch. He lost his balance as he tried to stand up on the surfboard and came crashing down onto the waves.

He took to Instagram to reveal the blunder left him in so much pain he had to leave his beloved golf course. However, he went straight to get a massage and is awaiting medical advice.

“So, I’m getting a massage right now, because I hurt myself yesterday surfing. I have the footage of me falling…flying through the sky, hitting the board on my rib. Bellyflopping in the water,” Khaled admitted in a video.

He then explained he has footage of his surfing accident but is unsure about sharing it: “I’m in so much pain. I tried to golf this morning…I made it to like the eighth hole. Then I had to stop myself. So, I came to get a massage to get better.”

While Khaled’s masseuse believes the injury is muscle inflammation, the super producer isn’t taking any chances.

“I called a doctor, he’s gonna come later on this evening, just to make sure it ain’t nothing serious,” he added. “My masseuse is saying it’s just the muscle. She feels the muscle really irritated and disturbed in that area. I never stop, but I gotta be smart.”

After a few hours of thought, Khaled decided to post the video. “ALL CATEGORIES LETS GO.”

“ITS OK TO BE HAPPY !” he captioned the clip.

This isn’t DJ Khaled’s first water sports mishap. A few years back, he got lost at sea after a night time jet ski ride. In 2017, he injured himself after crashing his jet ski while en route to Diddy’s house.

Sukihana Fights Double Standard As Twitter Wars Over YK Osiris “Kiss”

Currently, Twitter is at war over the yucky YK Osiris “kiss!” At the same time, Sukihana is fighting an entrenched double standard. Although, a flimsy apology has been issued, the hypocrisy is everywhere.

First off, the Good Cat entrepreneur is a whole artist. Yes, that’s right. And, as such, she aptly employs both hyperbole and poetic license. Albeit, her growing creative cannon often celebrates an overtly sexual image.

However, this cultivated brand, should not negate her worth. Nor, should it work to dehumanize the emerging rapper. Simply put, people are tripping. At times, it seems as though her public and her peers, are unable to differentiate between reality and Rap.

So, yes; a lot is still happening to the “Casamigos” creative. Just yesterday, she deactivated her Twitter account. Perhaps, the sheer emotional toll motivated the decision. Be that as it may, she sent out what appears to be her final tweet.

It reads, “I am hurt and I am scared to stand up for myself. Keep in mind, this “sensitive” soul was clearly violated. All the same, why is YK, a petite, whisper-kitten of a man, so quickly being forgiven?

The Deeper Discussion

All the while, Sukihana is now being held responsible for other’s actions. Over time, to push a brand, an array of musicians use exaggerated notions. Look at Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azalea and Rihanna.

All, of these outspoken ladies, push the message of sexual empowerment. Of course, the “Eating” entertainer is the only one who is richly melanated. Does being melanin-enriched always lead to disrespect?

Rich The Kid, Bun B & More To Appear On “Just For Kicks” Series

Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment announced the company has green-lit a new sneaker-based series titled Just for Kicks. Hip Hop stars like Rich The Kid, Bun B, and DJ Whoo Kid will make appearances on the show.

Producer/director Rhyan LaMarr and entrepreneur Antoine Wade created the upcoming program. Don Benjamin, Wes Armstrong, and Jadi Torres will serve as the hosts of Just for Kicks. The show will stream on the free service Crackle.

“We’re thrilled to bring Just for Kicks to audiences who love sneakers,” said Antoine Wade. “There are no barriers, ethnic boundaries, or divisions when it comes to sneaker culture and fashion. A CEO can wear the same shoes as a kid from the inner city.”

Wade adds, “That accessibility creates a universal love and appreciation for shoes beyond social classes. It starts with shoes and takes us all over the map, from music and fashion to inspirational stories and what’s happening worldwide.”

Just for Kicks will also feature interviews with 11-time NBA All-Star Allen Iverson and Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson. Actors Jessie T. Usher (The Boys) and Barton Fitzpatrick (The Chi) will show up on the Crackle series too.

“Sneaker culture is huge and has massive potential for brands to be front-and-center with this hard-to-reach audience,” said Michele Fino, head of branded content for Crackle Connex. “Just for Kicks has great sponsorship potential as a television show with additional unique extensions, such as exclusive behind-the-scenes content and promotions on our Redbox kiosks nationwide.”

Fino adds, “We’ve already been discussing the continuation strategy for Just for Kicks beyond the first season – potentially including gaming, eSports, and different music genres. The opportunities are endless. It’ll be great programming for our audiences and something I know my 14-year-old son and I will love.”

Jeezy Set To Drop New Book During Week Of Hip-Hop’s 50th Anniversary

Jeezy has moved swiftly from his previous life as a trapper and embraced life as a father, entrepreneur and now, an author. According to a press release, the “Soul Survivor” rapper is dropping a new book “Adversity for Sale: Ya Gotta Believe” via HarperCollins on August 8.

The book offers readers a look into some of the life lessons that have helped him navigate the world, not just as a rapper but a man. The Grammy Award-winner released a statement about the book, saying, “Sometimes you have to go through some things—even some things that are excruciating and that you think you’ll never survive—in order to get where you want to be.”

It’s no coincidence he decided to drop his book on the week of Hip-Hop’s 50th Anniversary, as he sees his story as a uniquely Hip-Hop story— from the block to the boardroom.

“In this 50th year anniversary of Hip Hop, there is no one we’d rather partner with than Jay ‘Jeezy’ Jenkins.” Matt Baugher, publisher of HarperCollins Leadership, said in a statement. ‘Adversity for Sale’ details not only his remarkable story but the depths of knowledge he has to pass on to others. This book is his latest contribution to modern culture and we’re all better for it.”

The book aims to teach the reader how to “surround yourself with people who believe in your success and want to see you win, find the lesson in every setback in order to move forward and help you change your mindset so that you change your life.”

“Adversity for Sale” will be available in hardcover, ebook and audiobook with Jenkins narrating. Pre-order here.

Babyface Vs. Anita Baker: Social Media War Heats Up

Recently, across varying social media platforms, two established artists are again demanding the limelight. While, their respective caches of creativity are astounding, that is not why the attention is back on these greats. Truly, it is because the Babyface versus Anita Baker social media war is heating up!

So, Ms. Anita Baker plays no games. And, why should she? A short while ago, the chanteuse made a decision. Be that as it may, this choice would have a seemingly ever-reaching social-media impact.

Without a doubt, Baker does not take too well to disrespect. Following, timing constraints and a few crude interactions with — “Kenny’s crazies“– zealous fans of the Indiana-native, AB has chosen to modify her tour. That’s right, she did not waste any time.

Although, Mr. Whip Appeal is only responsible for his actions, he was still dismissed from The Songstress Tour. By all means, he maintains his integrity while accepting his fate. So, to his fans he penned a quick explanation.

Nonetheless, as this unforeseen saga continues, social media is definitely voicing its shifting opinion. While some people identify with Anita’s issues, others are wholeheartedly siding with the other acclaimed entertainer.

Be sure to catch up on all the shenanigans!

Hopefully, in the near future, these two elite musicians will be able to rectify this fleeting issue. Until then, the popcorn is being popped and the Twitter-fingers will be TYPING away.

Samuel L. Jackson Talks Listening To Trick Daddy & N.W.A While Getting Ready For Work

Legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson stars in Disney+’s upcoming film Secret Invasion. The Morehouse College graduate is on a media run to promote the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) program.

Jackson recently stopped by SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning radio show. At one point, the 74-year-old entertainer discussed the Hip-Hop acts he enjoys playing while starting his day.

“I listen to music while I’m studying, that I do,” Jackson said. “When I get up in the mornings when I’m on location and I’m working and my wife’s not with me, I can turn my Beats Pill on and play music loud as hell in the morning when I’m showering, shaving, getting ready to go to work.”

He continued, “I got my Hip-Hop playlist going. Some mornings I get up and I go, ‘Let’s listen to Usher today’… even something as off as Trick Daddy… I get up in the morning and bam! Listen to Trick Daddy. Whatever strikes me, you know? Some days it’s N.W.A and old stuff, some days it’s new stuff.”

Samuel L. Jackson has worked with several rappers throughout his career in Hollywood. Both the 1999 movie Deep Blue and the 2023 movie S.W.A.T. starred Jackson and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer LL COOL J.

In addition, the 2000 crime thriller Shaft featured Jackson and Hip-Hop legend Busta Rhymes. Rappers such as Childish Gambino Glover and T.I. have acted in MCU films as well.

Samuel L. Jackson portrays the Marvel Cinematic Universe character Nick Fury in Secret Invasion. Jackson helped kick off the MCU with his uncredited cameo in the post-credits scene for 2008’s Iron Man.

Over the last 15 years, Jackson’s Nick Fury has appeared in numerous MCU productions, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

The six-episode Secret Invasion premieres on Disney+ on June 21. Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, Don Cheadle and more joined Samuel L. Jackson as part of the cast.

Is Yaya Mayweather Unsafe After John Gotti III Melee?

The anticipated exhibition boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and John Gotti III erupted into chaos on Sunday (June 11). With all the shenanigans that took place ringside and backstage, it appears as though anybody can and will get it. So, is Yaya Mayweather unsafe after the Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus John Gotti III melee?

As a matter-of-fact, Nicolette Gotti is the one allegedly threatening the socialite. Come to find out, Nicolette and the novice boxer are the grandchildren of John Gotti. Yup, the same John Gotti who formerly ran the Gambino crime family.

Although the Dapper Don’s reign was from the late ’80’s to early ’90s, his family’s legacy still carries weight. So should Lyanna take this seemingly purported social media threat seriously? Let’s delve deeper into this sordid perspective.

First off, this scathing message contains racially charged undertones. Of course, the message has since been deleted. However, the Mob Princess had a lot to share. She wrote, “@floydmayweather your daughter was ran through by [an] animal with 12 different baby mamas – your little circus animal – [you’re] all a pack of zoo animals.

“I swear on my kids I’m coming for your daughter, it may be 2 years, 3 years from now but I’m coming c–t.” Yaya Mayweather is, in fact, a mother. Both she and NBA YoungBoy are working together to raise their son, KJ.

At the end of the day, folks can and will think whatever they want. On the other hand, they are responsible for their words and actions. Thoughts?

Hit-Boy Reacts To JAY-Z & Kanye West’s “N###as In Paris” Going Diamond

Hit-Boy helped put together the “N##### In Paris” record. The producer/rapper was behind the boards for JAY-Z and Kanye West’s most commercially successful collaboration.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently certified “N##### In Paris” as a diamond single. This was the first time JAY-Z earned a 10x-platinum certification from the RIAA. It’s Kanye West’s second.

“It’s a real blessing to be a part of the song that became [JAY-Z’s] first Diamond record and producing the album that won Nas his first Grammy,” Hit-Boy wrote. “What a life.”

Hit-Boy produced Nas’s 2020 studio LP King’s Disease. That project won Best Rap Album at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021. They also teamed up for 2021’s King’s Disease II, 2021’s Magic and 2022’s King’s Disease III.

In addition to producing tracks, Hit-Boy releases his own music as a recording artist. The 3x-Grammy winner dropped the HITstory mixtape in 2012. His discography also includes Surf or Drown which came out in March.

June 12 saw the arrival of Hit-Boy’s official THIRDEYERAZ-directed “Sunrise” music video. He’s also put out visuals for other tracks like “Broke The Mold,”  “Wake Your Game Up,” “More 4 Me” and “Show Me” over the last two weeks.

Boosie Badazz: “I Feel Like Kanye West Loves The White Race More”

Kanye West has kept a relatively low public profile in recent weeks. That didn’t stop Boosie Badazz from sharing his thoughts on the controversial artist.

Over the last several years, West has alienated many of his Black fans. His slavery was a “choice” comment, promotion of “White Lives Matter” shirts, idolization of Adolf Hitler and other actions led to backlash from some members of the African-American community.

Boosie Badazz has been one of West’s most outspoken critics. After slamming the Chicago native for his remarks about George Floyd and Rosa Parks, Boosie again blasted Ye during an interview with Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion podcast.

“I was p##### off at Kanye,” Boosie Badazz said. “I was tweeting about him and everything. I was spelling wrong words. I don’t like what Kanye do to our Black race. I don’t know what Blacks done to him.”

The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native added, “I feel as a person, from what I’ve seen him do and talk about the Black people, I feel like he has no love or respect for the Black race. I feel he loves the white race more.”

Boosie Badazz went on to accuse Kanye West of using his global platform to disgrace Black people. Additionally, Boosie repeated his outrage over Ye suggesting George Floyd died from a drug overdose and not from police brutality.

“I’m a fan of his music,” Boosie said. “But as a person, I don’t feel…you might have a billion people in the world that might feel different…I don’t feel that he has no love or respect for the Black race.”

Kevin Durant Gives Nu Jerzey Twork His Flowers: ”You Really The Best Ever”

Kevin Durant is giving out flowers to his favorite battle rapper, Nu Jerzey Twork. While the New Jersey artist is considered a legend within the battle rap community, his talent is well known among Hip-Hop heads, including the Phoenix Suns superstar forward who recently reached out to show love.

On Tuesday (June 13), Nu Jerzey Twork took to Twitter to share a screenshot of a DM from Kevin Durant.

“BRUH , THIS N#### KD JUST TOLD ME I WAS THE BEST EVER,” the “Murdertown” hitmaker shared.

“Yo you really the best ever,” KD told Twork via IG Messenger. “U really a talented n#### man.”

Durant revealed he’s also a fan of New Jerzey Twork on beat, praising his 2021 album Jerusalem. However, his compliment left some on Twitter believing KD heard a preview of the highly anticipated follow-up to his debut project.

Although fans began excitedly anticipating a rollout, Jerooz quickly silenced the rumor. He clarified KD is a fan of Jerusalem “too,” and not “2!”

Kevin Durant Teams Up With Tsu Surf

As well as being a Nu Jerzey Twork supporter, Kevin Durant is a longtime fan of the sport. He’s often quoted in battles and uses classic battle rap verbiage to clap back at his critics. KD even showed he’s got bars too and isn’t afraid to go toe-to-toe on wax with a battle rap legend. He teamed up with one of the most successful battle rappers to make music a few years back, laying a verse on battle rap legend Tsu Surf’s 2018 banger “Want It.”

Kevin Durant didn’t say what prompted his DM but probably caught wind of Nu Jersey Twork’s latest clash. He teamed up with Rum Nitty to take on Tay Roc and Geechi Gotti in a legends-only two-on-two war at URL’s NOME Impact last weekend.

Father Of The Bride: Eminem’s Daughter Alaina Gets Married

Congratulations are in order for Eminem’s daughter Alaina Marie Scott, who recently tied the knot with longtime boyfriend Matt Moeller.

The stunning bride shared a series of images from her big day via Instagram on Tuesday (June 13), calling her wedding “simply one of the best days of my life.” Hailie Jade served in the bridal party and stood smiling alongside her big sister in one photo.

“June 9, 2023 simply one of the best days of my life,” Scott penned in the caption. “In this lifetime and in the next, my soul will always find yours.”

Nonetheless, a few people in the comments sections pointed out Eminem’s notable absence from the photos. Some criticized the superstar rapper, assuming he didn’t show up for his daughter. However, Eminem is notoriously private and shields his family life from the public eye.

Eminem adopted Scott from his ex-wife Kim Scott’s sister, Dawn, who struggled with substance abuse. He explained his decision to adopt the little girl, saying, “I really had no choice but to step up to the plate” during a 2004 Rolling Stone interview.

“I watched her bounce around from house to house—just witnessing the cycle of dysfunction,” he said. “It was like, ‘Man, if I get in a position, I’m gonna stop all this s###.’ And I got in a position and did it. I have full custody of my niece and joint custody of Hailie.”

Meanwhile, Eminem is gearing up for another wedding. Hailie Jade got engaged to her boyfriend Evan McClintock in February. The husband-to-be approached the proposal the traditional way, asking her famous father for permission beforehand.

Pusha T Warns He Would Be “Smoking” Rappers All Summer If He Wasn’t On Tour

Pusha T says rappers are lucky he’s on tour this summer otherwise he’d take over. The former G.O.O.D. Music recording artist is currently on the rescheduled European leg of his It’s Almost Dry Tour but will be getting right back to making music. He took to Instagram Tuesday (June 13) with a highlight reel of recent performances alongside a warning to his peers.

“Fun Fact: Had I not had to do these shows I would have been f###### y’all up this summer. I’m talking ‘bout really smoking you n##### man,” Pusha T declared.

He said that while the concerts and his supporters have been “great,” he’s putting rappers on notice.

“The shows have been great, the fans have been great,” he said before adding, “I’m circling back.”

King Push says the summer is just getting warmed up, and he has a question for his contemporaries.

“Hope you enjoyed all the highlights from this run,” Pusha T added. “This marks the beginning of summer for me, and I’m feeling competitive…how about you?”

Jim Jones Insists Pusha T Isn’t A Top 50 Rapper

Pusha T may be feeling like he needs to remind people he’s one of the best rappers of all time after Jim Jones went viral earlier this year for challenging his Hip-Hop credentials.

“What has [Pusha T] done that puts him in the greatest rappers of all time besides talk about coke that he probably didn’t get himself?” Jim Jones asked during an April appearance on Spotify’s “RapCaviar” podcast. “He’s nice! He’s nice as s###. He could rap his ass off, but what has he done?”

He continued, “Nobody has dressed liked him. Nobody want to be like Pusha T. I don’t remember nothing. And let’s not be evil, but we don’t talk about rap where the n#### that’s popping, the b###### wanna f### and the n##### wanna be like. I don’t know too many n##### in this game that was leaning towards being like Pusha T.”

Vivica A. Fox Slams “Clout Chaser” Nick Cannon Over 50 Cent Reunion Comments

Vivica A. Fox has fired back at Nick Cannon after the comedian addressed her recent comments about being open to rekindling her romance with 50 Cent.

The “Set It Off” star and Fiddy shared a whirlwind romance for a few months in the early 2000s. However, Fox admitted she’s open to reuniting with 50 Cent, saying, “Why not?” during a recent episode of Sherri

Cannon discussed her comments on his Daily Cannon podcast earlier this week, reigniting his old beef with the G-Unit mogul in the process.

“You can fantasize about Fif from 15 years ago,” he said. “That’s a different Fif than this fat n#### that’s walking around now.”

Nick Cannon wasn’t done with the jokes and continued to throw jabs at Fiddy over his weight.

“He is fat!” he added. “He look like he got a pack of hot dogs in the back of his neck. You lookin’ at them pictures from Get Rich or Die Tryin’, now it’s Get Thick or Die Fryin’!”

Fox caught wind of Nick Cannon’s roasting session and took to Instagram to respond. She returned fire with fire, mocking the Wild ‘n Out star for being “community d**k.”

“Yo let me correct myself!,” she wrote in the Hollywood Unlocked comments section. “Yo Nick I’d rather be with #50Cent any day than yo community d**k ass! Now go somewhere and pay yo child support! #CloutChaser.”

50 Cent also seemingly responded to Nick Cannon with an Instagram post of his own Monday (June 12).

“If your marketing campaign is say something about 50, you’re not going to make it, have a nice day,” he wrote alongside an image that read: “It’s never luck. It’s always God.”

The Weeknd Addresses His Character’s “Gluttonous” Sex Scene In “The Idol”

The Weeknd is confronting the controversy surrounding his new series, HBO’s The Idol, and his character’s recent sex scene. Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye plays the role of shady club owner “Tedros” in the show. In the second episode, his character attempts to get it on with pop star “Jocelyn.” The show went viral after the episode aired, with fans taking to social media to discuss the show and its racy yet awkward bedroom romps.

During a recent interview with GQ, The Weeknd denied The Idol was supposed to feel overtly sexy.

“There’s nothing sexy about it,” he claimed. “When we use Basic Instinct as a reference, we’re using Verhoeven. Verhoeven is the king of ‘90s satire thriller—yes, there’s moments of ‘sexy’ in his films but there are other moments that are very cheesy and hilarious.

“How ever you’re feeling watching that scene, whether it’s discomfort, or you feel gross, or you feel embarrassed for the characters. It’s all those emotions adding up to: This guy is in way over his head, this situation is one where he is not supposed to be here.”

Furthermore, The Weeknd defended the “gluttonous” sex scene in The Idol episode 2, reasoning that his “loser” character can’t believe he’s there with this pop star.

“You look at him, and this is a score—Jocelyn might be the biggest score he’s ever had,” he added. “It’s very obvious. He’s over-indulging, he walks into this house looking around like, G######, am I way over my head? This can be the biggest job I’ve ever done. Whatever it is that he’s doing. Even the sex, it’s so gluttonous [laughs]. Especially in episode 2. ‘Gluttony’ is the only word I can think of [to describe it]. He can’t believe he’s there.”

Babyface Ousted From Anita Baker’s Tour Following “Kenny’s Crazies” Controversy

Babyface was evidently kicked off Anita Baker’s Songstress Tour following days of Twitter drama. In a statement, Babyface admitted he was “saddened by the news.” He continued, “It’s unfortunate and disheartening to see how things have played out via social media. While I was looking forward to the rest of the dates, I have nothing but love & respect for Anita and I wish her the best for the remainder of her tour.”

A post shared by Kenny Edmonds (@babyface)

The discourse started last month, after Babyface was forced to cancel his opening set at Baker’s headlining show in Newark due to timing. As she explained on June 6, “Live Nation took full responsibility. I went on my stage, at the appropriate time. Did my job without benefit of full production.”

Then on Monday (June 12), Baker asked Babyface to call off fans she said were bullying and threatening her, calling them “Kenny’s Crazies.”

“Some of his fans, are not accepting of the reality, that he is contracted, as special guest support, on My Tour,” she wrote. “Some even want to hurt me… Crazyyyy. Town.”

Babyface sued Baker in 2006, but she told Twitter followers that had been settled and there were no hard feelings. She wrote, “My company defended and prevailed against the lawsuit filed, (not by Babyface, but by his reps. at the time). Kenny, came to me YEARS ago, in the spirit of community and we put it all behind us and came together, in love, peace, music and community and forgiveness.”

On Tuesday (June 13), Baker broke the news to Babyface fans around the globe. She wrote, “After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bulling/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest/Support Act. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, The Songstress Tour, alone. Appropriate refunds will be made. Blessings.”

André 3000 Verse Arrives Courtesy Of Killer Mike’s “Scientists & Engineers” Featuring Future

André 3000 remains one of Hip-Hop’s most elusive figures. The Outkast legend and flute-wielding globe trotter rarely performs and doesn’t pop up on singles too often. But Killer Mike, a longtime collaborator and fellow ATLien, got him out of retirement. On Tuesday (June 13), the Run The Jewels spitter released a new single called “Scientists & Engineers” featuring Future and—yep!—the inimitable 3 Stacks. The track serves as the inaugural single from Killer Mike’s forthcoming solo album, Michael, out Friday (June 16).

Par for the course, André 3000 is in top form, rhyming, “All I know is when the portrait paintеd, better have your portion of thе rent/A dollar more and you will get upgraded when you’ve think you’ve made it, you are then/Just tolerated, overrated, hope I’m 80 when I get my second wind.”

Paired with an angelic chorus, the soothing yet relentlessly hard-hitting single finds Future stepping up to the mic for the second verse, while Killer Mike lays down the third and final verse.

Much like Future, Killer Mike focuses on his ongoing hustle with lines such as, “Man, I’m a villain with children’/So I’m never chillin’, I gotta make millions/I used to be dope with the dealin’, but that got a ceilin’
And we know the usual endin’/N###as get rich and go b####, and go fail and go snitch/And then f### up they family and friends.”

Future’s inclusion isn’t as random as some people may think. Future is the younger cousin of Dungeon Family member Rico Wade, who’s also a part of Organized Noise. Organized Noise, of course, worked with fellow Dungeon Family members Outkast and Goodie Mob, to name a few. Listen to it above.

Famous White Actor Admits Playing Michael Jackson Was Huge “Mistake”

Joseph Fiennes has confessed he made “a bad mistake” when he agreed to play Michael Jackson in a TV show. While speaking to The Observer, “The Handmaid’s Tale” star discussed being cast as the Thriller singer in a 2017 episode of the “Urban Myths” anthology series.

“I think people are absolutely right to be upset,” Fiennes said of his casting. “And it was a wrong decision. Absolutely. And I’m one part of that—there are producers, broadcasters, writers, directors, all involved in these decisions.

“But obviously if I’m upfront, I have become the voice for other people. I would love them to be around the table as well to talk about it. But you know, it came at a time where there was a movement and a shift and that was good, and it was, you know, a bad call. A bad mistake.”

The episode followed Jackson as he embarked on a road trip with Marlon Brando (played by Brian Cox) and Elizabeth Taylor (Stockard Channing) after 9/11.

The episode drew backlash for its content and for casting Fiennes—a Caucasian man—in the role of the African-American King of Pop. Jackson’s daughter, Paris, publicly condemned the project.

Following the controversy, executives at the broadcaster Sky pulled the episode before it aired, and Fiennes revealed in the interview that he campaigned for that decision.

“I asked the broadcaster to pull it,” he added. “And there were some pretty hefty discussions, but ultimately people made the right choice.”
