EXCLUSIVE: Pras Fighting Like Hell To Stay Free While Appealing 14-Year Prison Sentence

Pras Michel is fighting to stay free while appealing his conviction, asking a federal judge to grant bail as he challenges what his lawyers call a deeply tainted trial.

The former Fugees rapper was sentenced on November 20 to 168 months in federal prison after a Washington jury convicted him in a sweeping political influence case.

His legal team filed a motion seeking bail pending appeal, arguing that his conviction is vulnerable on multiple fronts and that he poses no flight risk or danger to the public.

Michel was allowed to remain free following sentencing and is not scheduled to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons until January 27, 2026. His lawyers say forcing him into custody now would be premature given the scope of issues already headed to the appeals court.

Michel’s attorneys argue the trial was riddled with errors that improperly swayed the jury. They contend jurors repeatedly heard that federal judges and FBI agents believed Michel was guilty, a situation they describe as unprecedented and profoundly prejudicial.

“Rather than testify about the subject matter of the FBI’s investigation, Agent Heuchling testified about his conclusions after reviewing all of the evidence,” Pras’s lawyer Peter Zeidenberg said. “Agent Heuchling also expressed his opinions about then strength of the evidence, including based on hearsay, such as when he testified that he traced funds to entities associated with Michel.”

The motion claims that the trial judge allowed jurors to learn that a separate judge had found probable cause that Michel committed crimes, and then reinforced that message through repeated courtroom rulings labeling him a “co-conspirator” before the jury.

The defense argues that no meaningful instruction ever told jurors to disregard those impressions.

Michel’s attorneys also take aim at the testimony of an FBI case agent, arguing he was improperly allowed to act as an overview witness while repeatedly offering opinions that Michel committed crimes. The filing claims the agent described alleged conspiracies and illegal conduct dozens of times, crossing lines the D.C. Circuit has already warned against.

Beyond courtroom conduct, the appeal attacks the evidence itself. The defense argues prosecutors stretched federal statutes beyond their limits, including bank fraud and campaign finance laws.

One key argument says no court has ever upheld convictions for false statements to banks when no funds were at risk and no loans were involved, yet Michel was convicted under that theory.

Other challenges target counts tied to political donations, foreign agent laws and alleged lobbying.

Michel’s lawyers argue that prosecutors failed to prove essential elements, such as intent, direction or control by a foreign government, and actual causation of the false filings. They claim several counts should never have reached a jury.

The motion also levels harsh criticism at Michel’s trial representation. It alleges his former lawyer, David Kenner, of Death Row Records fame, was unprepared for a complex white-collar case, failed to object to damaging testimony and even made statements during closing arguments that effectively conceded core allegations.

The defense argues that ineffective assistance alone warrants a new trial.

“Michel’s trial counsel, David Kenner, was ineffective and incompetent. He failed to object when the Government used Agent Heuchling as an overview witness, or to Heuchling’s repeated testimony that Michel was guilty of the offenses charged, betraying a lack of familiarity with the rules of evidence,” Zeidenberg said.

Under federal law, a defendant must be released pending appeal if he is not a flight risk, poses no danger and raises substantial questions likely to result in reversal or a new trial.

Michel’s lawyers say he meets all requirements, noting that he has remained on release without incident since his 2019 arrest. If bail is denied, the defense is asking the court to at least delay surrender until the appeals court weighs in.

They argue that rushing Michel into prison before that review would serve no purpose and could not be undone.

Michel was convicted in a case tied to Malaysian financier Jho Low and international lobbying efforts that prosecutors said crossed legal lines. His appeal is now pending before the D.C. Circuit, with the bail decision expected before his January surrender date.

Stevie Wonder Scraps Holiday Benefit Shows In L.A. Due To Time Crunch

Stevie Wonder pulled the plug on his planned four-night House Full of Toys concert series in Los Angeles after realizing there simply wasn’t enough time to pull it off.

The Grammy-winning icon had hoped to expand his long-running holiday charity event into a multi-night celebration at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood. The shows were scheduled for December 18 through 21 and were intended to mark the 26th year of his annual fundraiser, which supports children, families in need, and people with disabilities.

But in a message aired on his Los Angeles radio station KJLH, Wonder explained why the ambitious plan had to be shelved.

“A week and a half ago, I came up with the idea of doing four nights at the Fonda Theatre to raise money for House Full of Toys. Big idea. Little time,” he said. “So because of that little time, I’ve decided to cancel all four shows.”

Despite the cancellation, the 75-year-old music legend pledged to continue supporting the cause financially.

“Yet still, I will this year put my money where my heart is by giving a substantial donation for the children for House Full of Toys,” he said. “And next year, we will again do House Full of Toys with the big idea and enough time to put it together.”

The annual benefit, organized through Wonder’s nonprofit, We Are You Foundation, typically asks attendees to bring an “unwrapped toy or unwrapped gift of joy” as part of admission.

Over the years, the event has featured surprise performances from artists like Lionel Richie, Queen Latifah, Anderson .Paak and Jon Batiste.

Ticket holders will receive refund information via email, organizers said. Wonder’s statement aired the week of November 27, less than a month before the concerts were scheduled to begin.

Jam Master Jay Murder: Judge Overturns Karl Jordan Jr.’s Conviction In Run-DMC DJ’s Killing

Nearly two years after a jury delivered its verdict, U.S. District Judge LaShann DeArcy Hall overturned the murder conviction of Karl Jordan Jr., one of two men found guilty in the 2002 killing of Run-DMC’s Jam Master Jay.

In her ruling, Hall concluded prosecutors failed to establish that Jordan had a motive to kill the legendary turntablist, born Jason Mizell. During the trial, an eyewitness testified that he saw Jordan shoot Mizell—his own godfather—inside a Queens recording studio on October 30, 2002.

Prosecutors argued the killing stemmed from a dispute over a failed drug deal, but Jordan’s defense maintained that the evidence did not support that claim.

“We are really happy for Mr. Jordan and his family that justice was served,” attorney John Diaz wrote in an email following the decision.

Jordan, who had not yet been sentenced, remains in custody awaiting a separate trial on drug charges that date back to years after Jam Master Jay’s death.

Judge Hall, however, denied a request from co-defendant Ronald Washington for either an acquittal or a new trial.

Mizell, the influential DJ behind Run-DMC’s rise, helped propel Hip-Hop into the 1980s pop mainstream with tracks like “It’s Tricky” and the group’s genre-blending remake of Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way.” His slaying has long stood as one of Hip-Hop’s most notorious unsolved cases.

Jordan Jr. and Washington were arrested and indicted for Jam Master Jay’s murder in August 2020. According to case histories, both men were taken into federal custody after a grand jury returned an indictment charging them in connection with the 2002 killing.

Donald Trump Signs Executive Order To Reclassify Marijuana As Wiz Khalifa Faces Romanian Prison

Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday directing federal agencies to reclassify marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III, a move that highlights the stark differences in global cannabis laws, just as Wiz Khalifa faces nine months in Romanian prison for smoking weed on stage.

The president’s directive calls on the attorney general to expedite the federal reclassification process that began under the Biden administration. Trump’s order aims to reduce barriers for medical marijuana research while maintaining federal prohibition on recreational use.

“This executive order will increase access to medical marijuana and cannabidiol research,” the White House stated. The reclassification would move cannabis from the most restrictive drug category to Schedule III, alongside medications like ketamine and testosterone.

Trump’s executive order reflects changing American attitudes toward marijuana. Twenty-four states have legalized recreational use, while 38 states allow medical marijuana. The federal reclassification would align with this state-level momentum without full legalization.

Cannabis stocks surged following Trump’s announcement, with companies like Tilray and Canopy Growth seeing significant gains. However, some Republican senators oppose the move.

They warned Donald Trump that reclassification could increase youth access and undermine public health efforts. The senators cited concerns about impaired driving and workplace safety.

The timing creates a striking contrast with Wiz Khalifa’s legal troubles overseas.

A Romanian court sentenced the Pittsburgh rapper to nine months in prison this week for lighting a joint during his July 2024 performance at the Beach Please! Festival. Romanian authorities arrested him immediately after the show for illegal drug possession.

Wiz’s case demonstrates how marijuana laws vary dramatically worldwide. Romania maintains some of Europe’s strictest cannabis policies, treating possession as a serious criminal offense.

The country’s zero-tolerance approach stands in sharp contrast to neighboring Germany, which legalized recreational marijuana in April 2024. Global cannabis laws create a patchwork of regulations that can trap travelers.

Countries like Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines impose death penalties for drug trafficking, including marijuana. Malaysia and Thailand also maintain harsh sentences, with Thailand only recently decriminalizing cannabis for medical use.

Meanwhile, countries such as Canada, Uruguay, and several European countries have legalized cannabis. Germany’s recent move made it the largest European nation to legalize recreational cannabis, allowing adults to possess up to 25 grams and grow three plants at home.

The Netherlands tolerates cannabis through its famous coffee shop system, while Portugal decriminalized all drugs in 2001. Spain permits private consumption and cultivation, creating cannabis social clubs throughout the country.

Trump’s order requires the Department of Justice to complete the pending reclassification process by May 2024.

Drywall Repair Cost in DC, Maryland & Virginia

Need drywall fixed? Here’s what it actually costs in the DMV area—no guessing, no national averages that don’t apply here.

2026 Drywall Repair Prices in the DMV

Small hole repair (fist-size or smaller): $150-$250

Medium hole repair (up to 12 inches): $200-$400

Large hole or multiple holes: $300-$600

Ceiling repair: $250-$1,400

Water damage repair: $500-$2,500+

Full wall replacement: $2.50-$4.00 per sq ft installed

Minimum service call: $150-$200 (most contractors)

These prices include labor, materials, and basic texture matching. Get an exact quote for your job—estimates are free.

Why Drywall Repair Costs More in DC, MD & VA

If you’re comparing to national averages, DMV prices run 20-35% higher. Here’s why:

Labor costs. Skilled tradespeople in the DC metro earn more than the national average. That’s reflected in every quote.

Parking and access. DC and inner suburbs mean permit parking, tight spaces, and sometimes hauling materials up multiple flights. All adds time.

Finish expectations. DMV homes have higher property values. Homeowners expect Level 4 or 5 finishes, not visible patches. Quality costs more.

Licensing and insurance. Legit contractors in MD, DC, and VA carry proper licensing and insurance. That overhead gets built into pricing.

Drywall Repair Cost by Job Type

Hole Repairs

Doorknob holes, furniture damage, accidental impacts—these are the most common calls.

Small (under 4 inches): $150-$250. Cut, patch, tape, mud, sand, texture match, prime.

Medium (4-12 inches): $200-$400. Requires a proper patch with backing support.

Large (over 12 inches): $300-$600+. May need to cut back to studs for proper support.

Ceiling Repairs

Ceilings cost more—overhead work is harder, and imperfections show more in flat lighting.

Crack repair: $150-$400 depending on length and cause.

Hole repair: $250-$500.

Water-stained ceiling: $300-$800 (assuming leak is already fixed).

Sagging or damaged section: $500-$1,400.

For ceiling work, get a professional assessment—DIY ceiling repairs rarely look right.

Water Damage Repairs

Water damage is unpredictable until you open the wall. Expect:

Minor water staining (cosmetic): $200-$400.

Saturated drywall needing replacement: $500-$1,500.

Water damage with mold present: $1,000-$3,000+ (includes remediation).

Flood damage (multiple walls): $2,500-$10,000+.

Water damage restoration should be handled quickly—mold starts growing within 48 hours.

Texture Matching

If your walls aren’t smooth, matching the existing texture adds cost:

Orange peel or light knockdown: +$50-$150

Heavy knockdown or skip trowel: +$100-$250

Popcorn ceiling texture: +$150-$300 (or consider removing it entirely)

What Affects Your Final Price

Location in the home. Stairwells, high ceilings, and tight spaces take longer.

Number of repairs. Multiple patches in one visit = lower cost per patch. Don’t call for one hole if you have five.

Finish level needed. Garages and closets can be Level 3. Living rooms need Level 4 or 5.

Painting included? Some quotes include primer only. Full paint match adds $100-$300.

Emergency timing. Same-day or weekend service typically adds 25-50%.

How to Get Accurate Quotes

Phone estimates are guesses. For accurate pricing:

1. Take photos showing the damage with something for scale (phone, hand, tape measure).

2. Note the room location and ceiling height.

3. Mention if there’s water damage or if you need texture matching.

4. Get at least 2-3 quotes, but compare what’s included—not just the bottom line.

Red flag: Any contractor who quotes over the phone without seeing the damage is guessing. Lowball phone quotes often double once they show up.

EXCLUSIVE: Jam Master Jay Conspirator Loses Bid To Get A New Trial

Ronald “Tinard” Washington lost his latest bid to undo his conviction in the 2002 killing of Run-DMC icon Jam Master Jay after a federal judge ruled the jury verdict was firmly supported by the evidence and the law.

A judge in Brooklyn denied Washington’s motions for acquittal and a new trial, rejecting claims that prosecutors failed to prove an ongoing drug conspiracy or a drug-related motive for the murder of Jam Master Jay inside his Hollis, Queens, recording studio.

The ruling keeps intact Washington’s February 2024 convictions for murder while engaged in narcotics trafficking and a firearm-related killing.

The court found ample proof that Jam Master Jay, whose music career had slowed in the late 1990s, was operating as a cocaine middleman at the time of his death.

In 2003, AllHipHop’s Grouchy Greg Watkins uncovered the conspiracy and over 20 years later, trial testimony showed Jam Master Jay obtained cocaine on consignment from a supplier known as “Uncle,” then distributed it through associates.

Federal filings and trial evidence linked Jam Master Jay’s cocaine supply to the Black Mafia Family, with BMF co-founder Terry “Southwest T” Flenory identified as the source behind “Uncle,” the supplier referenced at trial.

Investigators said JMJ was moving cocaine tied to the BMF pipeline, placing him squarely inside a high-stakes distribution network that extended beyond New York. Prosecutors argued JMJ’s killing stemmed from a drug dispute after Jam Master Jay failed to secure a lucrative Baltimore distribution arrangement that Washington expected to join.

Police Seek To Question Man In Regards To JMJ Murder

The judge agreed a reasonable jury could infer retaliation as at least one motive tied directly to the drug operation, which is all the law requires. That context undercut Washington’s argument that the conspiracy fizzled before the murder.

The judge pointed to evidence that Jam Master Jay was still arranging meetings with his supplier’s associates days before he was killed and had not paid for the cocaine he already received, reinforcing the finding that the drug operation remained active.

The ruling also revisited the violent scene inside the studio on October 30, 2002. Witnesses testified that Jay Bryant, a man, permitted Washington and Jordan to enter his studio through a fire escape door.

Jordan then approached Jam Master Jay as if for an embrace, then fired the fatal shots, while Washington blocked exits at gunpoint.

The order leaves Washington facing mandatory life sentences tied to the narcotics-murder convictions, closing another chapter in a case that took more than two decades to reach trial.

Tyler, The Creator Surprises Hawthorne High Seniors With iPads After Apple Music Honor

Tyler, The Creator handed out iPads and inspiration at Hawthorne High School in California, surprising 371 seniors with tech gifts instead of attending the usual celebrity-packed celebration for being named Apple Music’s 2025 Artist of the Year.

The Grammy-winning rapper skipped the red carpet and champagne to return to the same hallways where he once skated as a teenager with big dreams. On December 12, what students thought was a regular school rally quickly turned into a once-in-a-lifetime moment when Tyler walked on stage.

“They wanted to throw some crazy party, dinners and all that,” he told the crowd, according to the LA Sentinel_._ “I was like, no, no, no. Forget the dinner. I could eat at home. What I wanted to do was come back here.”

Instead of flashing lights and industry speeches, Tyler delivered Apple iPads and Apple Pencils to the entire senior class, along with a dose of real talk about his roots and the road to success.

Tyler reflected on growing up in Hawthorne, a city wedged between Inglewood and Manhattan Beach, but often overlooked in the conversation.

“Being from this city, man, it’s kind of a weird place,” he said. “It’s not Inglewood, it’s not Manhattan Beach. It’s just its own little world. And I always told myself, one day I’m really gonna make it out of this place and make something of myself, because that was not the norm for Hawthorne High. That just was not heard of.”

Tyler’s visit came weeks after Apple Music announced he racked up more than 4.5 billion minutes of streaming between November 2024 and October 2025.

His album Chromakopia broke his personal records for first-day and first-week streams on the platform. He also dropped Don’t Tap the Glass mid-tour, a surprise, stripped-down rap project that reached No. 1 in over 55 countries.

During the school event, students rotated through hands-on stations featuring Apple’s creative tools, such as GarageBand, Image Playground, and Apple Intelligence. The event was powered by Free Lunch, a creative agency led by Tyler’s longtime collaborator Tim Hinshaw. Crenshaw Juice kept the crowd refreshed.

Tyler is set to receive Apple Music’s physical award, a custom Apple silicon wafer encased in glass and aluminum, later this year.

The Most Durable Gold Chain Types for Everyday Wear

Jewelry has shifted from something people save for special events to something they use daily. Chains, in particular, help complete casual, work, and weekend outfits with little effort. If you plan to wear one every day, the style you pick matters just as much as the design. A durable gold chain stays strong, holds its shape, and keeps its shine, whether it is yellow gold, white gold, or rose gold.

Many buyers explore gold chains for men when searching for reliable everyday options. The right chain style can handle constant movement and still feel comfortable. This guide breaks down the best gold chain designs that offer durability, strength, and long-term value.

Curb Chains

Curb chains rank high for people who want a bold gold look that also lasts. Each link lies flat, which helps the chain rest smoothly against the skin. This shape prevents twisting and reduces pressure on weak points. Many wearers say curb chains feel dependable, even after long hours of daily use. A heavier curb chain usually holds up better than lighter versions. Its wide gold links resist dents and maintain their structure well.

Key reasons people choose curb chains

  • Links stay strong under regular tension.
  • Flat design keeps the chain comfortable.
  • Easy cleaning with simple tools

Figaro Chains

Figaro chains bring visual interest to an outfit through their alternating gold-link pattern. A typical layout uses two or three small links followed by one long link. This pattern adds character without affecting durability. Many see it as a good everyday option because it keeps its shape during movement.

The chain’s layout allows weight to distribute evenly across the gold links. This prevents certain areas from wearing down faster than others. Figaro chains offer an appealing choice for anyone who wants strength with a subtle design shift. Pairing them with gold chains for men creates a clean, polished look.

Rope Chains

Rope chains give a textured, braided look that stands out in any gold finish. Their twisted links lock together tightly, which creates strong support across the entire chain. This design reduces breakage because no single link carries the full pressure. Rope chains also reflect light well, giving yellow gold, white gold, or rose gold a bright, eye-catching shine.

Why do many consider rope chains dependable

  • Balanced weight across the chain
  • Good resistance to tangles
  • Strong link structure

Box Chains

Box chains use square-shaped gold links that form a clean, geometric pattern. The shape keeps the chain firm, which reduces stretching or bending over time. Many people pick box chains because they work well with almost any style and pair easily with gold pendants.

This chain holds small pendants well, especially lightweight gold ones. The structure helps the chain stay flat and maintain its shape through regular wear. Box chains succeed when you need a subtle, strong, and reliable everyday gold option.

Mariner Chains

Mariner chains, also called anchor chains, feature oval gold links with a bar across the center. This added support prevents bending and protects the chain’s structure. Mariner chains have a sturdy appearance that suits heavier gold pendants or solo wear.

People appreciate the balanced feel of this chain. The design spreads tension evenly, so it does not weaken quickly. Mariner chains work well for everyday use, especially for those who prefer a gold chain with a confident presence.

A durable gold chain becomes a dependable part of your everyday look instead of something you worry about. Strong designs such as curb, Figaro, rope, box, and mariner chains tend to outlast more delicate patterns. Each one brings its own mix of gold design and strength, so the best option depends on the look you want and how active your days are. The right gold piece stays comfortable, resists wear, and pairs effortlessly with everything you wear, making it a long-term staple.

Jelly Roll Pardoned After More Than 40 Arrests In His Youth

Jelly Roll received a full pardon Thursday from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, clearing the chart-topping artist’s decades-old robbery and drug convictions after a year-long review.

The decision, which follows a unanimous recommendation from the state parole board in April, wipes the slate clean for the “Son of a Sinner” singer, whose legal record had previously limited his ability to travel internationally for concerts.

Now 41, Jelly Roll can tour abroad without seeking special travel permits.

“His story is remarkable, and it’s a redemptive, powerful story, which is what you look for and what you hope for,” Gov. Lee told reporters during a meeting at his home, according to The Associated Press.

While Jelly Roll has not yet released a statement about the pardon, he spoke to the Tennessee Board of Parole earlier this year about the potential impact of the decision.

“I want to be an inspiration for people who are now where I used to be – to let them know that change is truly possible,” he said. “One of the reasons I’m asking for your recommendation for this pardon is because I’m looking to take my message of redemption through the power of music and faith through the rest of the world… I’ll still be using this same pardon, God willing, to go do missionary work in my 50s and 60s.”

The Nashville native has been open about his troubled youth, revealing he was first arrested at 14 and jailed over 40 times before turning his life around through music. His rise from incarceration to country and Hip-Hop stardom has made him a vocal advocate for second chances and criminal justice reform.

The pardon applies to convictions in Davidson County prior to 2010 and grants him formal clemency from the state of Tennessee.

Anti-Gay MAGA Republican Says He Can Out-Twerk Nicki Minaj In Latest MAGA Weirdness

Tim Burchett boasted about his twerking skills in a bizarre social media exchange with Nicki Minaj that highlights how MAGA politics keep getting stranger.

The 61-year-old Tennessee Republican congressman discovered on Thursday that the rapper follows his X account. He tried engaging with her about his annual 15-minute Christmas party.

“Ma’am, if you had followed me on X earlier, we could have sung a duet at our 15 minute Christmas Party,” Burchett posted. “My mic would have been turned off. We’ll get it next year.”

That’s when things got weird. The Gays For Trump account replied with a GIF of Minaj twerking from her 2014 “Anaconda” video.

“Can you twerk Congresswoman?,” they asked Burchett, who has long opposed LGBTQ rights.

Burchett didn’t back down. “I can. I am gifted. But I’m Baptist so I don’t brag about it.” When another follower bet he could “out twerk Nicki Minaj,” Burchett doubled down. “I can. It’s uncanny actually.”

The congressman also posted an Instagram drawing of Minaj dabbing next to Paddington Bear. He captioned it “NICKI IS BASED.”

Burchett’s twerk boasts come as Minaj completes her transformation into a MAGA ally. Last week, Minaj praised Vice President JD Vance as an “assassin” who’s “quick as a computer.” She said he’s “the best blend I’ve ever seen of us&them.” Minaj also attacked California Governor Gavin Newsom over transgender children’s policies.

“Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids,” she posted. “Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that.”

The rapper called Trump and Vance “Heroes” and “The Good Guys” in recent posts. She even spoke at the United Nations about Nigerian Christians, later calling it a “MAGA Flex.”

This marks another surreal moment in MAGA politics. A congressman known for opposing gay rights is now bragging about twerking skills to court a rapper who’s embraced conservative talking points.

Charlamagne Tha God Signs New Contract Days After Ebro Darden’s Radio Firing

Charlamagne Tha God locked down a multi-year contract extension with iHeartMedia just days after rival radio host Ebro Darden’s abrupt departure from Hot 97.

The timing highlights the stark contrast between two of Hip-Hop radio’s most prominent voices.

iHeartMedia announced Thursday that Charlamagne Tha God will continue hosting “The Breakfast Club” alongside DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious and Loren LoRosa. The show reaches over 7 million monthly listeners and celebrated its 15th anniversary this month.

“When it comes to iHeartMedia, gratitude will always be my attitude,” Charlamagne said in a statement. “They’ve created space for me to grow not just as talent, but as an executive and true partner through The Black Effect Podcast Network.”

The extension comes as Charlamagne’s podcast network generates 11 million monthly downloads. His “Breakfast Club” replay podcast surpassed one billion downloads earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Ebro Darden saw his “Ebro in the Morning” show canceled by Hot 97 on December 12. The veteran radio host theorized his firing stemmed from his progressive political views and criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.

“Hot 97 has a culture vulture vision,” Ebro said after his exit. He suggested the station wanted to move away from his outspoken political commentary.

The contrasting fates reflect different approaches to controversial content. Charlamagne has faced criticism for political statements but maintains strong corporate backing. He recently sparred with Donald Trump on social media over Jeffrey Epstein files and government shutdown politics.

Ebro’s departure followed tensions with artists like 50 Cent, who claimed credit for getting the host fired. DJ Drewski defended Ebro against 50’s attacks, but the damage was done.

iHeartMedia President Rich Bressler praised Charlamagne as “a transformative voice in audio” who “redefined what it means to create content that sparks dialogue.”

No similar statements were made by Hot 97 regarding Ebro’s contributions.

The Black Effect Podcast Network partnership gives Charlamagne executive control over content featuring diverse Black voices. This business relationship extends beyond traditional radio hosting into media ownership.

Charlamagne’s deal includes continued work on “Weekends with The Breakfast Club” and expansion into live events, TV, film and documentaries.

Meanwhile, Hot 97 has not announced Ebro’s replacement, leaving the station’s morning programming direction in uncertainty.

Mustard Slammed Ex-Wife With $30K Sanctions Over Online Outbursts

Mustard is asking a Los Angeles court for sole legal custody of his three children and $30,000 in sanctions against his ex-wife, Chanel Thierry, over what he says are repeated violations of their custody agreement through social media.

The Grammy-winning producer filed new legal documents requesting full authority over decisions involving Kiylan, 13, Kauner, 10, and Kody, 6.

His legal team, led by attorney Samantha Spector, claims Thierry ignored a court order that bars both parents from making disparaging comments about each other in front of the children.

The filing includes screenshots of Thierry’s posts on Threads, including one from October that read, “Dijon I know you are reading this, I’m so sick of your s***. You suck.”

In another post, she wrote, “I’ve been divorced 3 years now and my ex husband continues to do things to purposely get under my skin … A man will treat your child according to how he feels about the mother. Mark my words.”

Mustard argues that Thierry’s online remarks not only breach their custody terms but also harm their kids and strain their already fragile co-parenting dynamic.

According to the court filing, Thierry’s posts about Mustard consistently get the most engagement on her platforms, which he says adds to the emotional toll on their children.

The former couple’s divorce was finalized in October 2024 following a turbulent split that included Thierry accusing Mustard of faking a cancer diagnosis during their separation.

As part of the settlement, Mustard agreed to pay $24,500 per month in child support and to issue a one-time spousal support payment of $315,000.

They married in 2020, but the relationship unraveled quickly. Mustard filed for divorce in 2022, citing irreconcilable differences. Throughout the proceedings, both parties made serious claims about each other’s parenting and conduct.

Currently, both parents share joint legal custody. If Mustard’s request is granted, he would gain exclusive say over key aspects of the children’s lives, including their education, health care and religious upbringing.

Barack Obama Proves His Hip-Hop Loyalty With 2025 Playlist Selections

Barack Obama put Hip-Hop front and center on December 18 when he unveiled his 2025 playlist on Instagram featuring chart-toppers like Kendrick Lamar and Drake, alongside rising voices including Gunna and Chance the Rapper.

The former president’s annual music roundup once again leaned heavily into the genre, spotlighting both familiar names and global newcomers.

The 44th president’s list included 22 tracks spanning various genres, but Hip-Hop made up nearly a third of the selections. Kendrick Lamar and SZA earned a spot with their joint track “Luther,” continuing Kendrick’s streak of appearing on Obama’s year-end picks.

Drake also landed on the list despite recent drama in the music industry. His inclusion signals that Obama still sees the Toronto rapper as a cultural mainstay whose work resonates beyond the headlines.

Atlanta’s own Gunna made the cut with “Just Say Dat,” a nod to the former president’s awareness of the current trap wave and its influence on younger audiences.

Chance the Rapper, a longtime favorite of Obama’s and a fellow Chicagoan, appeared on the list with Jamila Woods for their collaboration “No More Old Men,” a track that blends soulful production with social commentary.

The playlist also featured international Hip-Hop voices. Nigerian superstar Burna Boy teamed up with Travis Scott on “Tatata,” while Olamide’s “99” brought together Daecolm, Seyi Vibez, Asake and Young John for a global showcase of Afro-influenced rap.

Obama’s connection to Hip-Hop dates back to his time in office, when he regularly invited artists to the White House and praised the genre’s storytelling power. His playlists have become a cultural tradition since his presidency, offering a glimpse into his personal taste while also influencing public music discovery.

The full list, which also includes selections from other genres, was posted on Obama’s Instagram and quickly garnered over 239,000 likes. Many praised the former president’s ear for music and his continued support for Hip-Hop as a legitimate art form.

Obama’s full 2025 playlist was released on December 18 via his official Instagram account.

Jhené Aiko’s Big Sis Mila J Flaunts Perfect Bodacious Birthday Body

Most people know Jhené Aiko’s silky voice and soulful R&B vibe, but meet her older sister, Mila J, the veteran singer, songwriter, dancer, and all-around visual force who’s been quietly carving her own lane in music since well before Chilombo hit the charts.

Born Jamila Akiko Aba Chilombo and raised in Los Angeles in a tight musical family, Mila was in girl groups as a kid, appeared as a dancer in Prince’s “Diamonds and Pearls” video, and went on to drop EPs and her debut album Dopamine as her own thing.

But forget the discography for a second, these birthday photos aren’t about tracks, they’re about presence.

Mila steps out in a white cutout dress that appears custom-made to accentuate every curve. Up top, the plunging halter and strategic rings frame her bust like a statement piece, bold and unashamed.

The bodice weaves together straps and hardware that catch light and attention, guiding the eye along her silhouette like choreography you feel before you see it.

Down below, the dress hugs her hips and waist, with a ruched texture that makes her curves pop even on a minimalist backdrop. The long skirt trails with a slow-burning elegance while the cutouts and ties tease glimpses of skin, a mix of poised and provocative that only someone with confidence could pull off without effort.

Whether she’s lifting an arm to tousle her hair or letting those straps hang like an accessory of attitude, she looks like she knows exactly which angles will make the world pause.

These shots are more than birthday glam, they’re a reminder that while her little sister gets the bigger headlines, Mila’s got her own kind of magnetism.

She doesn’t need loud gimmicks to get noticed; she just needs a camera, the right light and that instinct for commanding the frame.

This isn’t a side gig or “the sister of” photo dump; this is a moment where Mila J flips the script and makes everyone remember her name on sight.

Tory Lanez Reveals Legal Bombshell In First Jail Interview, Waiting On Face To Face With Megan Thee Stallion

Tory Lanez opened up for the first time from behind bars about a potential legal breakthrough and a renewed push to overturn his conviction in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case.

The rapper says he has newly surfaced evidence that his team says was never handed over during the trial.

Speaking from California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo during an interview with NBC News, the Canadian rapper said, “I believe not only that I was wrongfully convicted, but the amount of new evidence that has emerged since that trial, I think, has been overwhelming.”

Lanez’s attorneys are preparing to file a fresh appeal with the California Supreme Court, arguing that key forensic evidence, specifically bullet fragments allegedly removed from Megan’s foot, was never turned over to the defense.

The claim centers on a Brady violation, a legal standard requiring prosecutors to disclose all potentially exculpatory evidence to the defense.

Attorney Crystal Morgan said the missing fragments were documented in a pathology report from Cedars Sinai Medical Center. According to her, the report states the fragments were placed in evidence bags and handed to hospital security.

“It’s missing from our date-stamped official copy of evidence from the criminal trial, which is significant because this particular piece of paper says that they remove fragments and place them in bags and gave them to a security guard that works at Cedars Sinai,” Morgan said.

The report surfaced during a separate defamation lawsuit filed by Megan against blogger Milagro Gramz.

Gramz’s attorney uncovered the July 14, 2020, document, which refers to a hospital security employee retrieving an evidence bag containing a “foreign body.”

Lanez, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison after his December 2022 conviction on charges including assault with a semiautomatic firearm and possession of an unregistered loaded firearm, insists the trial unfairly portrayed him.

“When I talk about my case, I don’t want it to be taken as me coming at her, because it’s not that,” he said. “I’m just asking for somebody in the system to look at my case and look at the evidence and ask if this was fair.”

Last month, the California Second District Court of Appeals rejected Lanez’s initial appeal, stating there was “no ineffective assistance of counsel or prejudicial trial court error.”

His legal team is now hoping the state’s highest court will consider the newly discovered evidence. Lanez is also seeking clemency or a pardon from California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Meanwhile, Megan has continued to speak publicly about the emotional toll the case has taken, and previously secured a restraining order against Lanez, alleging he was using third parties to harass her from prison.

SIGNS: Men Used Dying, Overdosing Man As A Breakfast Table During Memphis Drug Raid

Two creeps turned a fentanyl overdose into a sick joke during a Memphis drug bust, literally using a dying man as a table while they ate.

Cops from the West Tennessee Drug Task Force hit a house in the Soulsville area early Wednesday and found Barry Andre Oliver and Michael Ford mid-meal, chilling like nothing was wrong.

Their food was resting on the back of a 45-year-old man who was unconscious and overdosing on fentanyl. The guy was barely clinging to life and these two were out here treating him like a piece of furniture.

Task Force Director Johnie Carter didn’t hold back.

“The depravity that accompanies the sale and use of some drugs, such as using a dying human being as a breakfast table, never ceases to amaze me,” he said. “I’m thankful our Agents and those assisting us were there, trained, and able to render aid so that this man may have a second chance at life.”

Cops hit the spot after a month-long investigation and found the whole place loaded with illegal stuff. We’re talking five ounces of fentanyl, five ounces of meth, 8.5 ounces of cocaine, 88 oxy pills, and a few methadone tabs. Plus, they had a loaded semi-auto, three digital scales, almost a pound of weed, and over two grand in cash.

The overdose victim was given naloxone on the scene, but he’s still in critical shape at a local hospital.

Shelby County DA Steve Mulroy called the whole thing out for what it was. “The callous indifference shown here dramatizes the human cost of drug trafficking and abuse, degrading both the victim OD’ing and those who casually looked on,” he said.

This whole thing is part of a bigger crackdown on fentanyl in Memphis. Since October, the task force has made over 126 arrests and pulled millions of deadly doses off the streets.

Authorities say more charges are coming and they’re not done yet. But this case? It’s a new low, even for the drug game.

Angela Yee’s Brother Passes Away & She Issues Urgent Health Warning

Angela Yee confronted grief and urgency on her Way Up with Angela Yee platform in New York City as the veteran radio and media personality revealed the sudden death of her only brother while urging listeners to take health warnings seriously and prepare for the unexpected.

The emotional disclosure unfolded during a raw on air conversation that quickly shifted from personal loss to public service.

Yee explained that her brother died from an aneurysm after experiencing days of intense headaches that did not initially register as a medical emergency for him or his family. The first sign something was wrong came through absence rather than alarm when he stopped responding in the family group chat.

“He’s very active in our group text like our family chat every day,” Yee said. “He’s a person that if you call him he’s going to answer if you text him he answers right back.”

That silence prompted action.

Yee said her mother used a spare key to enter his home and found him on the floor. Emergency responders arrived but protocol required a prolonged wait for police and the medical examiner before the family could return inside. Because he was alone and appeared to have fallen authorities had to rule out foul play.

Doctors later confirmed an aneurysm as the cause of death.

Yee shared that her brother had complained of severe headaches in the days before he died and tried to manage the pain on his own.

“He had been saying he had really bad headaches a couple of days before that they were so bad he had to take three Advil,” she said. “When you feel like pain like that and it feels out of the ordinary it is important to see a doctor because again like you never know what could happen.”

Yee acknowledged how easy it is to minimize symptoms especially for people who consider themselves healthy and active.

“I probably would have did what he did take some Advil and go and lay down,” she said.

Beyond the medical warning Yee spoke about another reality families often avoid. At 51 her brother had never discussed burial preferences or end of life wishes leaving relatives to make weighty decisions during shock and grief.

“They’re like does he want to be cremated does he want we never even discussed that,” she said.

As arrangements move forward Yee asked friends and listeners to send photos for a memorial slideshow to bo***********@***il.com.

Megan Thee Stallion Says Milagro Gramz Weaponing “Mob” Of Followers In New Complaint

Milagro Gramz has landed back in legal crosshairs after losing a defamation case to Megan Thee Stallion and allegedly picking up right where she left off, targeting the rapper online despite a jury’s ruling.

In a new motion filed by Megan’s legal team, the Houston artist is asking a federal judge to issue a permanent injunction against Milagro Gramz after what they describe as a resumption of harassment.

The request comes just weeks after a jury found Gramz liable for defamation.

Milagro Gramz appeared on Instagram Live on December 1, a day after the gag order was lifted. According to court documents, she downplayed the verdict and floated the idea of shifting her focus to music with a mixtape.

Megan Thee Stallion says the move ot music is an attempt to disguise continued attacks as constitutionally protected speech.

But the motion says the behavior didn’t stop there. On December 2, Gramz posted a photo on X featuring herself next to journalist Gayle King, which Megan’s team says was a veiled jab at the rapper’s 2022 interview with King.

That interview became a focal point during the Tory Lanez shooting trial, where Gramz tried to discredit Megan’s statements.

She also referred to Megan Thee Stallion as “the Black Regina George” (a character in the movie ‘Mean Girls’), a phrase Megan’s attorneys say is both defamatory and racially loaded.

“Ms. Pete will continue to suffer irreparable harm if Defendant is permitted to further stalk, bully, and harass Ms. Pete, and to further incite [Milagro Gramz’s] “mob’ of followers, who has been primed over the last five years with hateful rhetoric directed at Ms. Pete,” Meg’s lawyer said.

Megan’s lawyers argue Milagro Gramz is dodging real accountability while continuing to provoke their client under the guise of free speech. Megan Thee Stallion has been trying to move on after Tory Lanez’s trial, conviction and sentencing.

Megan Thee Stallion has been publicly dating NBA star Klay Thompson since July 2024, and in October, she dropped “Lover Girl,” a track inspired by their relationship.

The couple reportedly bought a home together, signaling a new chapter for the Grammy-winning rapper.

Despite the legal turmoil, Megan’s business ventures haven’t slowed. She’s juggling music, a swimwear line, and other projects, even as Roc Nation faces a lawsuit from two models over contract disputes tied to her brand.

DMX 55: Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur Reflects On X’s Grit, Faith & Eternal Hip-Hop Impact

Today, Earl Simmons, the man the world knew as DMX, would’ve turned 55. I count myself among the blessed few who stood in his presence when the culture was shifting, when Hip-Hop was reeling from the deaths of Biggie and Tupac, and a shinier, more polished sound dominated the mainstream. Out of that vacuum stepped X. He was raw, untamed and unapologetically real. And the man bred in Yonkers, New York somehow reshaped Hip-Hop forever.

This was 1998: a pivotal year, not just for DMX, but for hip-hop’s heartbeat. While glossy aesthetics gained commercial traction, there was a hunger for something authentically rugged – for truth delivered with visceral force. Enter It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood. In the same calendar year, X dropped two albums that didn’t just top charts – they rattled the industry and reoriented its compass toward raw emotion and street reality.

I had the privilege of interviewing him multiple times that year, which was also the year AllHipHop was born. On the first occasion, X wasn’t in interview mode at all. Irv Gotti had to coax him into sitting still. In classic Dark Man X fashion, all he cared about was rapping. Before we even started, he broke out into freestyle. This was not for the camera, because there were no cameras present. It was not for hype or clout. To me, this was because the music lived in him. That energy, that ferocity, was his gift and his burden.

Hip-hop hasn’t heard a presence like that before or since.

DMX was a man of contradictions, scary one moment, tender the next; a warrior wrestling with demons, yet spiritual in ways few dare admit. As he once told Blackfilm“Right, wrong, good, bad, heaven, hell. I think that is the theme of my life … you have to know both in order to honestly choose one.”

His spirituality wasn’t superficial. It bled through every album, every “Prayer” track, every confession of struggle and redemption. He spoke often of faith not as an accessory, but as survival: “I’ma shine regardless … the Lord has already written my steps out so no one can do anything to stop it.”

Still, beneath that towering voice and commanding stage presence was a guy who knew pain. In later years, whispers about his struggles with addiction and fatigue followed him. Rumors that were hard to separate from truth. I remember one interview where X nearly nodded off mid-conversation. My colleague Amanda Seales and I exchanged glances, finally ending the interview. We voiced concern quietly to Dee from Ruff Ryders, and she just shrugged, saying, “that’s just X” without further expansion on the thought. Life on the edge never looked like anything else.

Decades on, I sat down with his uncle, Ray Copeland, who offered insight rooted not in headlines but in family history. He reminded me that X wasn’t lazy or lost or even drugged like that. He overworked himself. Ray said, “He moved in life in a perpetual state of fatigue” — always exhausted, living on short naps between studio sessions, tours, films and prayer meetings.

And yet, even with all of that intensity, he never lost his human core. Longtime collaborators like Swizz Beatz have spoken publicly about X’s selflessness: “He lived his life for everyone else… you ain’t ever seen him next to a Lamborghini… he didn’t care about that.”

When the world lost him in April 2021 at age 50, the mourning wasn’t just about a rapper. It was about a voice. This was a pure soul willing to expose fear, faith, pain and power without pretense. Tributes poured in from every corner, from fans to icons like LeBron James, who called him a “legend” upon his passing.

Yet, for all the music and memories he left us, there’s always that lingering question: What would’ve been? What heights might he have reached with more time? What battles might he have won? I don’t spend every day on that thought, but I feel it. I know others do too.

Here’s what I firmly believe: DMX didn’t die in the way most legends do. His spirit – that raw, electric, uncompromising force – didn’t fade. It transcended. It lives in every gritty Hip-Hop venue that refuses to sugarcoat life, in every mini-prayer woven through rhyme, in every artist who dares to speak without filters. They still exist.

DMX is infinite.

His music still slaps. His voice still reverberates through new generations. Stories of him, all of them, from the funny and the wild alike keep coming. And the more we share them, the more his legacy breathes.

I still love a good DMX story. I still press play all the time and let that bark cut through the noise. Everywhere, the house, the gym, the car and beyond. And yeah — I would love another interview with him. But what we do have is enough to keep us thinking, feeling, grieving, celebrating, and even growing.

Rest in power, Earl Simmons. You were and remain Dark Man X.

This is the first interview in 1998.

DMX was super tired. This is after he woke up.

DMX made my buy Henny for this interview. Gina had X talking about Drake, but I was trying to get his Top 5 Dead or Alive.
