(AllHipHop News) A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie recently declared he is the “King Of My City” with a new song of the same name. The braggadocious talk from the Bronx native did not stop there.

“Iight bet. Keep on tryna sound like me without showing love and ima start to sue ya mf’s
Fr tho this sh*t is getting outta hand I’m not tryna knock nobody hustle I’m just getting sick of the craft ya bringing to the table Making this sh*t boring,” tweeted A Boogie.

The obvious tongue-in-cheek lawsuit threat went viral on social media. However, some Twitter users reacted to A Boogie’s message by claiming that his style is derivative of other acts like DeJ Loaf and the late Speaker Knockerz.

A Boogie also got a response from an R&B/Hip Hop legend. T-Pain replied to the 24-year-old Atlantic Records signee by tweeting, “Welcome to the club brother. We have meetings on Thursdays .”

(AllHipHop News) A lot has taken place in Nicki Minaj’s life over the last month. Minaj got into both an IRL and social media spat with ex-boyfriend Meek Mill, and she released a new song titled “Yikes.”

It appears the Queens, New York-raised rapper is ready to address some of those topics. She is headed back to the studio to broadcast a new edition of Apple Music’s Queen Radio.

“#QueenRadio first episode of the decade tmrw @ 3pm EST. Keep #YikesOutNow in your tweets to win stuff,” posted Minaj on Twitter on Sunday.

In the past, Nicki has used her radio program to publicly address her issues with other celebrities like Travis Scott, Cardi B, and Wendy Williams. The 2/10 episode will supposedly include a cipher and special interviews.

(AllHipHop News) This week, Lil Wayne is back at the top of the mountain. The 37-year-old rap veteran’s Funeral debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

With 139,000 first-week units, Funeral knocked Roddy Ricch​’s Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial (#2, 86,000 units) from the top spot. Wayne now has five No. 1 albums in his career.

Tha Carter III (2008), I Am Not a Human Being (2010), Tha Carter IV (2011), and Tha Carter V (2018) previously led the rankings. Plus, Weezy has 12 projects that have made it to the Top 10 region.

(AllHipHop News) The 92nd Academy Awards were held last night in Los Angeles. Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite was the night’s big winner by taking home four golden statues.

Music played a big part in the ceremony celebrating achievement in film. Janelle Monáe opened the show with a medley of tunes from movies released in 2019.

At one point, Monáe was joined by Pose star Billy Porter. She was also backed by dancers dressed as characters from Black-led films such as Queen & Slim, Dolemite is My Name, and Us.

Additionally, Janelle Monáe took the opportunity to address the lack of diversity in the acting categories. She sang, “It’s time to come alive, ’cause the Oscars, it’s so white.”

Cynthia Erivo (Harriet) was the only person of color to get a nod among the 20 acting nominees. She lost the Best Actress award to Renée Zellweger (Judy). South Korea’s Parasite did become the first non-English language movie to win Best Picture. 

Ari Lennox Apologizes To Oprah And Gayle

(AllHipHop News) Last week Ari Lennox blasted Oprah Winfrey and her best friend, journalist Gayle King, stating that they were party to a conspiracy to tear down Black men. She has now apologized for her actions in a long letter that has been published to her Tumblr account. 

The singer states that she considers her following her “besties” and that she has gotten too comfortable with the notion in her venting sessions on social media. 

“Kale” and “Okra,” her name for Gayle and Oprah have not responded to their public malign from the new school singer. The Gayle King interview with WNBA superstar Lisa Leslie appeared to focus on Kobe Bryant’s 2003 rape case. 

“I’m not here for anybody tearing down that legendary man,” she of the interview. “I’m sick, I’m disgusted, you don’t care about Black people.”

In the lengthy rant, she also says she is taking a break from social media.

Haqq made a special speech, expressing how thankful she was to be carrying her baby boy and thankful for the father of her baby, who was revealed to be O.T. Genesis, real name Odis Flores.

Malika Haqq continued her speech also thanking the women in her life for their continuous support during her pregnancy. She stated, “I have nothing against co-ed baby showers, but I will say the reason why I wanted a baby shower full of women was because it’s you women that helped me get through this pregnancy 100%.”

Her sister Khadijah Haqq McCray, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kylie Jenner, and Kimora Lee Simmons were among the many shower attendees.

“Power” Gears Up For Season Finale And Sequel

(AllHipHop News) Starz is gearing up for the season finale of “Power” tonight (February 9th) at 9 pm.

The series showrunner Courtney Kemp recently spoke to Variety about the show’s final run.

“We have not had a lot of really rich, black anti-heroes yet,” she said. “And I think what’s really important is that we’re now able to be free of the shackles of needing to have only portrayals that are saintly or only portrayals that are sinners — that Ghost is somewhere in between; that he’s as complex as a Tony Soprano, as a Walter White, that we can enter that conversation and still be of color.”

While “Power” is coming to an end, a spinoff is in the works. The series, titled “Power Book II: Ghost,” will star Mary J. Blige and rapper Method Man, who was previously announced to star in the spinoff.

There’s no official confirmation if Joseph Sikora, who plays Tommy Eagen, or Michael Rainey Jr., who plays Ghost and Tasha’s son Tariq, will appear on the show.

About which characters will appear in the sequel, specifically those who have survived, 50 Cent told USA Today: “You will see those characters. I won’t necessarily say how you’ll see them.” Last month, 50 also shared on On Air With Ryan Seacrest, that the new series will premiere on a Sunday sometime in June.

But, being from Canada may not bode well when he comes stateside trying to get respect going to Jay-Z’s old hood without getting a hood pass. In a recent video, it looks like Drake went to Marcy Projects to do a video and was really, really nervous while shooting it. Now, we don’t know what this was for and perhaps there were some exceptionally rowdy dudes in the background, but Drake couldn’t even rap his lines. Now, look at this and tell me what you think.

Clearly, from the 22 seconds in this clip, nobody can really tell what is going on. Maybe looking nervous is part of the video. Maybe Drake is acting out a part where he is required to be a shook one. Maybe Jay-Z or Memphis Bleek is a co-star and we don’t know about out! Anything can happen! 

I know that Drake ain’t the sort of guy to do anything that would endanger his multi-million dollar life. Then, why do a video in the projects, when he ain’t even good in said projects. He should have sufficient good will and security to be able to shoot a video like when he is down south in the land that birthed his daddy.

(AllHipHop News) The woman who won a $7.1 million judgment against Compton rapper Game is still targeting the rap star’s pockets.

Priscilla Rainey won a huge judgment against Game in October of 2019 after the rap star failed to reply to a sexual assault lawsuit stemming from his 2015 reality show, “She’s Got Game.”

A trio of judges shot down Game’s appeal of the verdict for blowing off hearings, and trashing Priscilla Rainey on his Instagram account.

Priscilla Rainey has been trying to seize the money from Game for a few years now.

Rainey maintains the rapper is deliberately hiding his money, to avoid paying the $7.1 million judgment.

In her latest attempt, Priscilla Rainey is asking a judge to seal the post-collection process from the public, in an attempt to avoid publicity, which might help her recover the debt.

“The purpose of the instant application is to prevent Jayceon Terrell Taylor aka ‘The Game’ from thwarting the Collection Motion’s purpose,” said Priscilla Rainey’s lawyer Michael Jason Lee.

“Taylor’s interest in sealing the Collection Motion far outweighs any public interest benefit, particularly because the documents will be unsealed once the purposes of the Collection Motion has been served,” said Michael Jason Lee.

Until the judgment is satisfied, Priscilla Rainey is hoping the judge will allow her to keep the battle for Game’s assets from the prying eyes of the media and the public.

The Game has adamantly claimed he is innocent, and he has also promised Priscilla Rainey she would never receive a dime.

“Let’s get one thing very CLEAR: that thirsty Gatorade mascot of a transvestite WILL NEVER see $10,000,000 or anything close 2 a penny of my money,” Game fumed. “Soon as I’m home, me & my lawyers will EAT THIS CASE like a box of Minion Twinkies on sale at Walmart!”

YBN Almighty Jay Has His Eyes On Draya

In a recent interview with Fox Soul, R&B singer Keyshia Cole asked the rapper if he had his eyes set on anyone special after his “gigolo” phase is over, and he let it be known that Draya is definitely on his radar.

Nicki Minaj Reveals New Alter Ego ”Queen Sleeze”

(AllHipHop News) Nicki Minaj dropped her new song “Yikes” on Friday, after teasing fans with a snippet on social media.

The rapper participated in a Q&A session on Twitter where fans asked Minaj several questions, mostly relating to new music.

During the Twitter Q&A, a fan asked the rapper if any new alter egos will appear on the album. She revealed that her upcoming album will feature a new alter ego named “Queen Sleeze.”

Nicki then teased some details about Queen Sleeze after a fan asked her to describe the new alter ego.

“She’s more calm but way deadlier. My husband always says he’s more afraid when I talk quiet then when I yell. Lmao. He said that’s how he knows when I’m dead tf serious.”

Nicki Minaj is known for her multiple alter egos. Throughout her rap career she has rapped under aliases like Roman Zolanski, Nicki Lewinsky, and The Harajuku Barbie.

The rap star also shared that she has the title of the album ready and how “Yikes” came about.

Nicki Minaj joked that fans and label “bullied” her into making the snippet she shared into a full song. She also stated that she freestyles the track’s outro.

“I made up the hook with no paper. Just freestyled in the booth cuz I loved the beat. so the yikes part is me hearing the beat for the very first time. The verses I wrote down. The outro was a freestyle,” Nicki said.

“Yikes” is currently No. 1 on the iTunes Store.

Snoop Dogg Says He Didn’t Threaten Gayle King

(AllHipHop News) Snoop Dogg wants to make it clear that he wants no harm done to Gayle King.

The rapper made an Instagram video on Saturday (February 8th) clarifying his previous comments about the correspondent earlier this week.

Snoop previously slammed King for mentioning Kobe Bryant’s 2003 rape case in an interview with Lisa Leslie on CBS this Morning.

King has since addressed the backlash, stating she’s mortified and embarrassed. She also stated that the interview clip was taken “out of context.”

In Snoop’s latest video, he stated, “I’m a non-violent person. When I said what I said, I spoke for the people who felt like Gayle was very disrespectful towards Kobe Bryant and his family.”

(AllHipHop News) Justin Bieber appeared on Saturday Night Live to perform his hit single “Yummy” and “Intentions.”

Introduced by Ru-Paul, who hosted last night’s episode, the singer performed a mellow acoustic version of “Yummy” in a green boxed set.

The acoustic rendition then transitioned into the original upbeat record and dancers sprinkled the stage.

Bieber then returned to perform his newest song “Intentions” which features Quavo, on a colorfully lit stage. Bieber recently dropped the music video for “Intentions” which highlighted different powerful women giving back to the community.

Justin Bieber hasn’t hit the SNL stage since 2013, when he performed “As Long As You Love Me” and “Nothing Like Us,” an episode he also served as host.

The pop singer’s fifth studio album Changes is set to release on Friday, February 14.

He’s also gearing up to go on a North American tour for the album beginning on May 14th in Seattle, WA, and then wrapping up the trek on September 26th in East Rutherford, NJ.

Lori Harvey Fights Off Carjacker in Atlanta

(AllHipHop News) Lori Harvey was the victim of an attempted carjacking incident in Atlanta.

The step-daughter of Steve Harvey, Lori was on her way to the trunk of her 2020 Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which was parked at an apartment complex in Atlanta on Wednesday night.

That is when a man ran to the driver’s seat in an attempt to drive off.

In a police report obtained by TMZ, the 23-year-old told cops that a young black male attempted to hop in her luxury wheels.

She “ran toward him and struggled with him as he was sitting in the SUV … but he pushed her away.”

Harvey left the scene after she realized that she could just walk away with the key fob. The suspect then stole a red duffel bag from the SUV filled with clothes and fled in a getaway car.

Lori Harvey told police she was returning from Whole Foods when the incident occurred. Police are investigating and checking to see if any footage was captured on surveillance cameras.

Lori Harvey recently pled not guilty to two counts of misdemeanor hit and run. She was reportedly texting and driving back in October when she crashed into another car in Beverly Hills and tried to leave the scene.

Her pretrial hearing is scheduled for later this month on February 28th.

(AllHipHop News) A lawyer battling Damon Dash in three different lawsuits claims the rap mogul is the real extortionist.

Attorney Christopher Brown just filed documents in his ongoing legal war with Damon Dash, over control of a movie called “Dear Frank”/”The List.”

Damon claims he was promised at least 25% equity in the film, while Christopher Brown’s clients Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures say Damon was simply contracted to co-direct the film.

Damon Dash was eventually fired from the film due to his behavior on set, which sparked the legal war.

Since then, Dame says he is being attacked by Christopher Brown, who he’s called a “Culture Vulture” for suing him incessantly.

But according to Christopher Brown, it’s Damon Dash who is allegedly running a scam.

In the latest legal filings, Christopher Brown claimed Damon was threatening and extorting an editor of “Dear Frank”/”The List,” in hopes of gaining equity in the movie, which starred Lil Durk, Claudia Jordan, Columbus Short, and others.

Christopher Brown presented the court with “extortion related communications,” Damon Dash allegedly sent, which the lawyer believes offers up proof that the Roc-A-Fella co-founder is not an owner of the film.

“Dash’s modus operandi has been to attack people publicly who do not follow his wishes,’ Christopher Brown said. “Dash attempted to extort ownership from the Plaintiffs and is keenly aware he is not the owner or author of the film.”

Christopher Brown maintains Damon has been targeting a key witness named Wynton Payne with threatening emails and text messages.

According to Christopher Brown, Damon Dash’s intimidation tactics against Payne appear to be working.

“At this time, I am unaware if Mr. Payne will cooperate in this matter as he has not communicated since February 2019,” Christopher Brown said.

Last week, AllHipHop broke the news that Christopher Brown and Josh Webber were suing Damon Dash for $7.4 million for libel over his constant attacks on them over the lawsuit.

Christopher Brown is also asking for a default judgment of $51 million against Damon Dash, over an alleged sexual assault during a photoshoot at his house in Los Angeles.

Damon is also taking on Christopher Brown in another lawsuit over the battle for the copyrights of the movie “Mafietta.”

R. Kelly Sex Assault Trial Dates Pushed Back Over Scheduling Dilemma

(AllHipHop News) R. Kelly’s racketeering, sexual abuse and bribery trial in Brooklyn, New York has been postponed to July, so as not to conflict with the singer’s upcoming court dates in Chicago, Illinois.

U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly decided on Thursday, ruling R. Kelly’s scheduled April 27th trial date in Chicago made it unlikely he will be available to stand trial in New York in mid-May.

R. Kelly, who is currently behind bars in Chicago, appeared in court for the Brooklyn hearing via video conference.

The decision to delay proceedings was applauded by R. Kelly’s lawyer, Douglas Anton, who revealed the singer’s legal team still don’t know the identity of his alleged victims.

R. Kelly has pleaded not guilty to all criminal charges in several cases filed in New York, Illinois, and Minnesota last year.

The prosecutors in New York claim Kelly recruited women and underage girls to have sex with him.

R. Kelly is also charged with bribing an Illinois official to obtain a fake identification for singer Aaliyah, so they could get married when she was 15.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in Chicago have charged Kelly with engaging in sex acts with five minors, threatening his alleged victims, and aggravated sexual abuse and Minnesota lawmakers claim he solicited sex from a minor.

(AllHipHop News) Oscar-nominated actor Terrance Howard and Chicago Morning Show Host and TV Personality Kendra G will be hosting the Day Dreamin’ All-Star Party on Saturday, February 15.

Taking place in Chicago for the 2020 NBA All-Star Game, the party will be DJ’d by the legendary Biz Markie and sponsored by Equal Justice Now.

Equal Justice Now is a non-profit social welfare organization that advocates against wrongful conviction and incarceration, false arrest, and unreasonable detention.

The organization strives to preserve people’s constitutional right to defend themselves on the local, state and federal levels.

Aside from the long list of celebrities who will make an appearance, the day party will be holding a fundraiser for the Steven R. Agee II Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship honors young adults who serve the community and “introduce a positive influence by demonstrating leadership, assertiveness, and relationship building.”

The upscale party will be held at Mae District 19 E. 21st Street, Chicago, IL.
