Saweetie fans have been waiting for the Californian to drop her debut studio LP. Pretty B#### Music was originally expected to arrive last summer, but the effort has yet to make it onto DSPs.

MTV journalist Dometi Pongo spoke to Saweetie at the 2021 MTV European Music Awards, and she was asked about the delay for Pretty B#### Music. It appears the “Best Friend” hitmaker is still finalizing the album.

“It’s dropping soon. Honestly, it was a body of work with no soul. So right now I’m working on the details because I really want the world to feel me,” explained Saweetie on the EMAs red carpet.

Dave Chappelle Reacts To Being Uninvited To His High School’s Fundraiser

Back in October, Dave Chappelle’s name was attached to positive headlines associated with his high school alma mater. Washington, DC’s Duke Ellington School of the Arts celebrated the legendary comedian at the time.

However, a scheduled fundraiser for Duke Ellington School involving Dave Chappelle was reportedly called off. Some students apparently took issue with comments Chappelle made about the transgender community during his The Closer special on Netflix.

The Duke Ellington School event, which was raising money for a new theater that was going to be named after Dave Chappelle, was initially planned for November 23. According to reports, a group of students threatened to walk out of the school in protest of Chappelle.

Dave Chappelle addressed supposedly being uninvited to his former school while on stage in Indianapolis last week. The Indy Star reports Chappelle repeatedly mention being “canceled” and specifically reacted to Duke Ellington School students planning a public demonstration.

“They’re canceling stuff I didn’t even want to do,” Dave Chappelle is quoted telling the crowd inside Gainbridge Fieldhouse. He also reportedly said, “If you think you’re mad at me – remember, I didn’t disinvite you from anything.”

Several LGBTQ organizations took issue with Dave Chappelle using The Closer to promote TERF (Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminism) which critics argue is a movement against transgender rights legislation. In response, Dave Chappelle publicly expressed, “If this is what being canceled is about, I love it.”

DJ Akademiks Addresses Removal Of His Main Instagram Account

Love him or hate him, DJ Akademiks created a lane in the Hip Hop media space that established him as one of the leading influencers over the last several years. Many social media users follow the former Everyday Struggle host’s Instagram page for news and rumors about their favorite stars.

Currently, Akademiks’s main Instagram account is no longer available on the platform. When trying to access @akademiks at the moment, a message reads, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.”

DJ Akademiks addressed the situation on his verified @iamakademiks Instagram account. He wrote, “Speaking [with Instagram] reps to figure out wats going on. Follow @djakademikstv [until] further updates.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CWW5CmhFTtj/

Over the last several months, DJ Akademiks was involved in several high-profile, long-standing feuds with Hip Hop artists. For example, Meek Mill and Freddie Gibbs both went back-and-forth with the media personality.

Another blogger also called out Akademiks in September. Former Baller Alert senior editor Eleven8 accused Ak of spreading lies about an alleged video of Meek hitting an unnamed woman.

That same month saw Rich The Kid walk off DJ Akademiks’s Off The Record podcast after the outspoken agitator asked Rich about being a victim of a home invasion. Brooklyn rapper Bobby Shmurda is the guest on the latest episode of Ak’s show which dropped on November 15.

Halle Berry Doubles Down On Calling Cardi B “The Queen Of Hip Hop”

Halle Berry recently found herself in the crosshairs of many Nicki Minaj fans. The Oscar-winning actress upset some Barbz because she referred to Cardi B as the “Queen of Hip Hop” at the premiere of her Bruised movie.

Cardi B responded to the uproar over Halle Berry’s comments. The Grammy-winning rap star took to Twitter to defend Berry and deliver a message to anyone bothered by recording artists receiving subjective, made-up titles.

“I know how some of you girls like to tussle over this [type of] childish s###… but [not too much] on Halle Berry. Anyway, her movie #BRUISED dropping THAT SHE DIRECTED HERSELF on Netflix on November 24th. The FIRST female rap movie soundtrack!! We produced together out this FRIDAY!,” tweeted Cardi B on November 14.

Halle Berry had the chance to walk back her “Queen of Hip Hop” declaration during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The late-night talk show host asked Berry if the reaction from the Barbz swayed her opinion about Cardi B.

“Do you stand by that assessment of Cardi B as the Queen of Hip Hop?” questioned Kimmel. Halle Berry responded, “I do. But here’s the thing, there’s room for more than one queen… Nicki is a queen in her own right… All these ladies, to me, are queens.”

Halle Berry directed Netflix’s forthcoming MMA-themed film Bruised. In addition, Berry and Cardi B executive produced the all-women Bruised soundtrack which features new music by Cardi, Saweetie, City Girls, H.E.R., Flo Milli, Latto, Young M.A., Rapsody, and other female rappers.

Fat Joe To Co-Host Universal Hip Hop Museum’s “Chris Lighty Tribute”

In observance of National Hip Hop History Month, the Universal Hip Hop Museum (UHHM) will celebrate the life and achievements of late music executive Darrell “Chris” Lighty on November 23.

UHHM tapped Hip Hop legend Fat Joe to serve as one of the hosts for the evening. Monami Entertainment CEO Mona Scott-Young and Unlock Her Potential founder Sophia Chang will also help lead the “Chris Lighty Tribute.”

“I’m honored to host this tribute to my brother and friend Chris Lighty. If it wasn’t for this man I’d be dead or in jail. HE SAVED MY LIFE. Hip Hop History month would not be complete if we did not acknowledge his contributions to the culture,” states Fat Joe in a press release.

The “virtual tribute” to Chris Lighty will take place at the Universal Hip Hop Museum’s current “[R]evolution of Hip Hop” installation. The semi-permanent exhibition is located at the 50,000-square-feet waterfront development project known as Bronx Point in the Bronx, New York.

“The Universal Hip Hop Museum is delighted to recognize the Hip Hop maverick, Chris Lighty during this inaugural commemoration of Hip Hop History Month,” says Rocky Bucano, Executive Director and founder of UHHM. “That is why we exist — so that the world never forgets the titans of the culture on whose shoulders we stand.”

Monami Entertainment is working in conjunction with the Universal Hip Hop Museum to present the “Chris Lighty Tribute.” The event will feature artists and executives who worked with Lighty speaking about his accomplishments and influence on their careers.

“I am deeply humbled to participate in the tribute to Chris Lighty, whose life mirrors the trajectory of hip hop itself: from the South Bronx to corporate boardrooms across America to the greatest global cultural force of our lifetime,” says Sophia Chang. “For me personally, Chris made me feel welcomed in a world that wasn’t mine and helped set me on my path through Hip Hop.”

Mona Scott-Young adds, “The Universal Hip Hop Museum is a testament to the cultural importance of Hip Hop and I’m honored to be working alongside them during this inaugural observance of Hip Hop History Month to pay homage to a true icon of the culture, my dear friend and partner, Chris Lighty.”

Halle Berry & Winnie Harlow Address “Queen Of Hip-Hop” Remarks

Halle Berry and Winne Harlow recently caused a stir, giving the title of “Queen of Hip-Hop” to both Cardi B and Nicki Minaj respectively.

Halle started the debate at the weekend calling Nicki the “Queen of Hip-Hop” during a promotional appearance for her upcoming movie, “Bruised.”

https://twitter.com/Cardi_theGoat/status/1459855193898729478?s=20

A day later, Winnie Harlow waded into the mix calling Nicki Minaj “the one and only Queen of Hip-Hop,” while presenting her with an MTV EMA for Best-Hip Hop.

Now, both Halle and Winnie have clarified their remarks and say they were not trying to reignite the feud between the pair.

Halle Responds – “We’re All Queens”

“Here’s the thing, there’s room for more than one queen, people,” Halle said during a recent interview with “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” “That’s what we need to know. Nicki is a queen in her own right, H.E.R. is a queen. All these ladies to me are queens. There can always be more than one.”

She continued, “Queen is a term that we use to describe great,” she said. “You know, we’re all a queen. All we do all day is say, ‘Hey queen!’ ‘What’s up, queen?’ ‘Yeah, queen!’ ‘What’s happening, queen?’. … Queen, queen, queen. We’re all queens.”

Winnie Harlow Says “I’m A Fan Of Both”

Winne Harlow said she wasn’t trying to stir the pot; she didn’t actually see Halle’s comments about Cardi B.

A Twitter user suggested the supermodel was replying to Halle’s “Queen of Hip-Hop” shade.

“Winnie was right on time! Last night Halle Berry tried to be shady and said Cardi B is the Queen of Hip Hop. While announcing Nicki Minaj as the #emas hip hop winner, WINNIE cleared Halle and said Nicki Minaj is the ONLY queen of hip hop! I agree.”

Winnie Harlow replied and said,

“I didnt see Halles speech at the time. I been a fan since middle school & have always felt that way [crown Emoji] I didnt know Nicki won until they handed me the envelope backstage but I’m proud af. Cardi is a sweetheart to me. What shade? I’m a fan of both.”

What Does Cardi Think About The “Queen Of Hip-Hop” Title?

Cardi spoke on the matter the same day and wrote:

“I know how some of you girls like to tussle over this typa childish sh*t… but ntm on Halle Berry. Anyway her movie #BRUISED dropping THAT SHE DIRECTED HERSELF on Netflix on November 24th. The FIRST female rap movie soundtrack!! We produced together out this FRIDAY!”

Lil Uzi Refused To Halt Concert Before His Set Was Cut Short

Lil Uzi Vert refused to stop performing after fans yelled at him to do so because people in the crowd were fainting during a show in Vegas.

The “XO Tour Lif3” rapper was playing a set at “Day N Vegas” this weekend where he told fans he doesn’t take breaks despite other artists halting their shows to ensure fan safety. Performers have been on high alert following the tragedy at Astroworld which led to 10 people losing their lives.

Lil Uzi appeared to have different priorities although safety was a major concern for the festival organizers. When fans in the crowd complained and showed signs of struggling, Uzi told them they could leave.

Some audience members tried to attract Uzi’s attention to alert him to the fans who had allegedly fainted in the crowd. They tried to get him to pause the show to address the possible safety issues.

Videos circulating on social media show Lil Uzi telling fans: “I don’t take no breaks. If it’s gettin’ bad, leave. If you ain’t gonna leave, stay.”

This is while fans can be heard screaming at the star telling him, “Stop the show, Uzi! You’re f*cked up, Uzi! There’s people f*cking fainting, bro!”

Reports state Lil Uzi told festival organizers directly before this incident not to “stop his rage.”

A direction was given to the crowd via the loudspeaker to move back so those at the front could maneuver. Lil Uzi’s set was then cut short after delivering a handful of songs after showing up thirty minutes late.

Big Sean Says “Kanye Can Be Very Hard To Work With”

Big Sean and Kanye West have both recently aired their grievances against each other publicly.

During his infamous “Drink Champs” interview, Ye called the Detroit-bred emcee a sell-out and said, “The worst thing I’ve ever done is sign Big Sean.” Sean said he left Kanye’s G.O.O.D Music label because “I had to start getting a bigger cut!” He also claimed he’s still owed about $6 million from the deal.

Big Sean and Hit-Boy appeared on “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” recently and shed light on what working with the iconic rapper is really like.

“Kanye can be very hard to work with,” Sean offered. Hit-Boy thought Sean was going to make that point clear from the outset, adding, “I thought you was gonna say that first.”

He continued, “Kanye will have you re-do a verse 10 times and not use them.” Hit-Boy had obviously been through the same experience and said, “[Kanye will have you] redo some drums 10 times.”

According to the Detroit native, Kanye will remove you from tracks without any warning, as happened to him several times. It is for that reason that he will only celebrate his Yeezy collabs when they drop. Sean talked about his spur-of-the-moment verse on “Clique” which, fortunately, Kanye kept him on.

Sean explained, “With ‘Clique,’ I did that verse on the fly so there’s like eight other verses on there. After him and Hov met up, they cut everybody but they was like, ‘Leave Sean on there, he went too crazy with the hook.’”

However, the “Wolves” rapper took to Twitter to clarify that he wasn’t firing back at Kanye’s “Drink Champs” remarks. He said the interview was recorded weeks before.

Kanye West’s “College Dropout” Bear On Sale For $1 Million

It’s hard to think of Kanye West’s iconic debut album “The College Dropout” without recalling the bear that occupied the album’s cover art and promotional imagery.

The College Dropout bear then became the mascot for Kanye West’s next two projects and a famed artifact along the way. Now, the costume is on sale, and fans of the bear can put in an offer to own a piece of Yeezy history. The successful buyer better have deep pockets though – this piece of memorabilia comes with a million-dollar price tag!

Fake Shore Drive‘s Andrew Barber spoke to the bear’s owner Eric Arginsky who says it has been in his mother’s closet for nearly 17 years.

“My mom wants it out of her house soon,” he said during their interview. “I love business and opportunity so the best thing that could ever happen is someone from Ye’s camp sees this video and reaches out to you to bring this opportunity back and then you and I are producing bears tomorrow. That’s what I’m really hoping for. I know that the percentages are very slim on that one. But yeah, I would say at this point I’m really open to anything.”

He is willing to part with the bear for a cool £1 million but hopes Kanye West might pick it up or even reinvent it as Yeezy merch. Arginsky originally got hold of the bear after pitching a plush teddy bear line to the music mogul but it never happened.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Kanye is trying to give Beanie Siegel $50 million and Yeezy stock for coming up with the brand’s name. He claimed to be worth a massive $9 billion during his infamous Drink Champs interview so, perhaps he’s got a spare mil for the bear.

Travis Scott Named In $750 Million Astroworld Lawsuit

Travis Scott is facing further legal woes as a $750 million lawsuit has just been brought against him, along with others including Drake, Apple and Astroworld organizer, Live Nation.

TMZ reports that Houston attorney Tony Buzbee represents more than 125 Astroworld festival goers, including the family of Axel Acosta, a 21-year-old who died in the chaos. They say the suit, which is set to be followed by others:
“Places the blame on Travis and concert organizers for negligence in failing to properly plan the concert, train security personnel and host a safe event.”

The Lawsuit

The attorney bringing the case to court shared details of the lawsuit on Instagram.

“We filed suit today on behalf of 125 Astroworld concertgoers, to include the family of Axel Acosta. Axel died at the concert,” Buzbee explained in the caption. “Many of the clients named in this lawsuit suffered broken bones, or twisted knees, or orthopedic injuries. Many have psychological injury.”

The petition refers to the eight people who died on the day of the festival and the two victims who have passed on in the days since. The suit states Alex Acosta died after being “crushed by the incited, unruly and out-of-control crowd with such force that he could no longer breathe; with such force that the air in his lungs was literally slowly squeezed out of him, sending his heart into cardiac arrest.”

According to Buzbee, at least another 100 people are to be added to the suit. “I expect we will file on behalf of another 100 individuals very soon. I have been in contact with defense counsel for many of the entities sued, to include Live Nation.”

Furthermore, Buzbee added that they gathered extensive evidence in preparation for the lawsuit, including video evidence.

“Our team has toured the site and collected evidence. We have taken statements from more than fifty witnesses. We have collected hours of video tape from almost every angle.”
Buzbee concluded, “No amount of money will fix what occurred on the night of November 5. However, based on what I know now, to include what I learned during discussions with opposing counsel, it is my firm belief that every individual who attended that concert and who suffered injury will be fairly compensated. I intend to make sure of it.”

Lil Pump Allegedly Owes $1.6 Million In Back Taxes

Lil Pump has been accused of owing $1.6 million in back taxes.

According to Radar Online, the Internal Revenue Service is coming after Lil Pump over his 2018 taxes. The IRS hit him with a tax lien after he allegedly failed to pay $1,676,738.65 in taxes.

The feds filed the tax lien against the multi-platinum selling artist’s mansion in Miami. If he fails to pay, the government could start seizing his property.

Lil Pump is no stranger to being scrutinized by the IRS. Earlier this year, the agency filed a tax lien against him for unpaid taxes dating from 2019.

The 21-year-old rapper, whose real name is Gazzy Garcia, was accused of owing $89,378.69 to the feds. In June, he denied reports about his IRS bill even though court documents confirmed he was on the hook for almost $90,000.

“Listen, do not believe the internet, that s### is all cap breh,” he said in a social media clip.

Lil Pump also boasted about making over $15 million and showed off his jewelry in the video.

“Look, I done made over $15 million,” he said. “You know what the tax bill is on $15 million? B####, $90,000 ain’t s### to me. Stop playing with my body.”

KNOW YA HIP HOP: Heavy D, DJ Red Alert, Funk Flex, Black Sheep, and Pete Rock & CL Smooth

On November 16, 2021, the Universal Hip Hop Museum and AllHipHop.com are set to celebrate Hip Hop History Month by highlighting the late great Heavy D, DJ Red Alert, Funk Flex, Black Sheep, and Pete Rock & CL Smooth.

He was rough and tough and all that stuff … he made us dance and prance until we huffed and puffed. There was just no way that we could get enough of Heavy D, aka Mr. Big Stuff.

Heavy D was the first “Overweight Lover” in Hip Hop. The Jamaica-born Money-Earning Mt. Vernon native burst on the scene in the late 1980s with hits like “Is It Good To You,” “Gyrlz, They Love Me,” “Nuttin’ But Love” and “We Got Our Own Thang.”

Undeniably a man of the people, he brought a level of class to his clearly street swag. He was the best homie to every guy and the cuddly teddy bear to the girls. He was one of rap music’s first crossover stars, easily digestible by multi-generations because he always was immaculately dressed, could dance his natural “bleep” off and he never used profanity in his rhymes. This was epically demonstrated on his 1991 hit song, “Don’t Curse.”

After conquering music as a performer, he became an executive. From an executive, he became a sought-after actor. And from his space in history as an actor, he is now an ancestor. On November 8, 2011, he transitioned at 44 after having a pulmonary embolism. Hip Hop has never been the same.

On Saturday, November 16, Hip Hop founding father, Kool DJ Red Alert, took to the decks alongside Funkmaster Flex at the Circle California Club in Manhattan.

Black Sheep were performing their hit debut song “Flavor of the Month. A fun fact about these Native Tongue members is that the duo got together after DJ Red Alert encouraged Andres “Dres” Vargas Titus to start a Hip Hop group.

Dres recruited William “Mista Lawnge” McLean to join his duo, Black Sheep. Also appearing on the show was duo Pete Rock & CL Smooth.

Kyle Rittenhouse Trial Jurors End Daylong Deliberations With No Verdict

A jury concluded its first day of deliberations without a verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial.

Jurors will resume their deliberations on Wednesday. Kyle Rittenhouse faces five felony charges for fatally shooting two men and wounding a third in Kenosha, Wisconsin in 2020.

Rittenhouse, who was 17 years old at the time, was armed with an AR-15 style rifle at a demonstration in the aftermath of the Jacob Blake shooting. He said he went to the protest to protect property from rioters.

The 18-year-old defendant claimed he shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber in self-defense. Another man, Gaige Grosskreutz, was also injured but survived.

Rittenhouse has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide, two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

Judge Bruce Schroeder, who faced scrutiny for his behavior during the trial, dismissed a misdemeanor charge against Rittenhouse for illegally possessing the AR-15-style rifle.

Schroeder did allow the prosecution’s request for the jury to consider charges of second-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, attempted second-degree intentional homicide and first-degree recklessly endangering safety.

Before the jury began its deliberations, the judge made an unusual decision to allow Rittenhouse to conduct the random draw of jurors who’d decide his fate. A court clerk typically performs this task.

As deliberations began, protesters and Rittenhouse supporters gathered at the courthouse on Tuesday. Tensions flared as arguments erupted between both sides.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers announced 500 members of the National Guard would stand ready for duty in Kenosha if needed.

Let The Church Rejoice: Drake and Kanye Squashed Their Beef (Allegedly)

Drake and Kanye are best frenemies again.

In a series of Instagram posts from various parties, it was revealed that the two rappers buried the hatchet (and not in each other’s backs) at a Dave Chappelle show in Toronto.

First, let’s start with Drake’s IG post.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CWW7-polVwx/

So, at the very least, it looks like these two — who took lyrical shots at one another in the past — can, at least, be in the same room together. Progress. That’s a good thing.

Now, let’s head on over to Ye’s page!

https://www.instagram.com/p/CWW6_4PIuEX/

It’s the dove for me! So, apparently, Yeezy was making clear that there was “peace” between the two rappers. That’s great!

But wait, folks, we have one more entry: J. Prince!

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by J Prince (@jprincerespect)

“What a beautiful night I had last night in Canada. Let’s make history December 9 Free Larry Hoover Concert,” he wrote on Instagram, with the same picture of Drake and Kanye that the other two had.

So, based on all these posts, it looks like Drake and Kanye are friends again, and Prince’s post suggests that they’ll be performing together at the Free Larry Hoover concert on December 9.

The New York Post is reporting that Prince was the one who brokered the peace talks, which is a good thing, and the culture needed it.

But apparently, everyone in Toronto was talking about the Drake and Kanye West beef being settled, as evidenced by the tweets below.

Hopefully, Drake and Kanye can put the past behind them. Because things reached an all-time low with 2018’s “Duppy Freestyle” and bringing poor Adonis in the middle of all this.
