Carrie Underwood And Ludacris Score A Touchdown With Super Bowl Song

(AllHipHop News) Carrie Underwood and Ludacris have teamed up for a new Super Bowl anthem.

“The Champion” and its accompanying video will air at the beginning of the telecast before the big American football game, which will take place at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 4.

The song was written by Underwood, Ludacris, and songwriters Chris DeStefano and Brett James and the “Before He Cheats” hitmaker explains they wanted the lyrics to be inspirational.

“When we were writing ‘The Champion,’ our main focus was to celebrate athletes at the top of their game, but we also wanted the song to resonate with people in their everyday lives,” a statement from the country star reads. “We hope the lyrics will inspire people to push themselves beyond their limits to conquer anything they are trying to accomplish or overcome. There’s a champion in every single one of us!”

“It was a pleasure to collaborate with Carrie for this inspirational song,” the rapper says.

In addition to the Super Bowl, the song will also be used during the Winter Olympic Games telecast, beginning in February.

“When we met with Carrie last year to discuss the Super Bowl open, we each brought ideas,” Fred Gaudelli, executive producer of NBC Sunday Night Football and the Super Bowl LII presentation, says. “Carrie presented first. After she spoke, we looked at each other and said, ‘That’s the one’.

“Later on, our Olympics producers listened to ‘The Champion’ and decided that it would be a perfect complement for our Winter Games coverage. We are excited to highlight ‘The Champion’ in two events on the global stage in February.”

AllHipHop Presents: Monday Motivation With Ashton Burrell

(AllHipHop Opinion) So many times in life we don’t maximize our opportunities. We can be in situations that people would kill for and we won’t take advantage of the situation at hand. Part of it could be a comfort zone or part of it could be us being ungrateful for what’s in front of us. We never know the time our clock on earth is up. All we know is that we are born and we die, so in between those two guaranteed days maximize every opportunity you get. We also mistake our progress by trying to compare it with others. Your progress is for you and we must always remember that. Just because you are the same age as someone and they may have more money than you or a better job, that doesn’t mean get down and out. A lot of times we forget how fast a situation can change. I watched and interview from actor Jason Mitchell and saw how he went from working in a kitchen to being in one of the biggest movies of the past 3 years. So if you’re not moving like you think you should, don’t give up. Just keep on going. Your progress will get you where you need to be as long as you are putting in that grind and doing your part. So remember maximize each opportunity
and never compare your progress to another person’s. If you maximize each opportunity and grind hard you might make some of the best progress the world has ever seen!

T-Rell – “Can’t Stop Me”

T-Rell’s new single “Can’t Stop Me” was inspired by the tragic death of T-Rell’s brother, the subject of the lead single “My Dawg,” featuring Boosie Badazz.

T-Rell opens up about the car accident that killed his brother.

“We were driving home from one of my shows and got into an accident where the car flipped 5 times, I survived, my brother died. I made ‘My Dawg’ about losing my brother and it blew up,” T-Rell explained. “My city got behind me and it spread from there. Then my friend, who was a promotor from Wichita, KS, got me to open up for my favorite rapper, Boosie for two shows and then I went on to open up for him for more shows. He saw my hustle, heard the song, and jumped on the remix.”

Featuring appearances from Kevin Gates, Moneybagg Yo, Mozzy, Paul Wall, Ray Ray, Mo3, Xta-C, and others, Can’t Stop Me is a triumphant arrival for the talented young Kansas native, who is ready to bring feeling back into the hip-hop mainstream.

The Sad Reality About Dr. Martin Luther King And The King Holiday

By Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur

(AllHipHop Opinion) Dr. King. Oh how I love thee, dear brother, but things have changed.

Nearly 50 years have passed since the day Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was murderously assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee. The murder was one of many overt and covert acts of terror against Black people in the United States. Above all, Dr. King was probably the loudest statement to the Nation. His brutal slaying, along with the likes of Malcolm X, set the tone for where we are today as a nation…and as a people.

Spend any significant time with young people, it becomes apparent that that legacy of Dr. King is fading out of consciousness. If anything, he has become the guy that wrote the “I have a dream” speech to many. Clearly, many still know and fully comprehend the vast depths of Dr. King’s persona. However, today a child may say that Tupac is a hero or the measure of a man and if you go younger, they may even say somebody like 50 Cent.

“I must confess that that dream that I had that day has in many points turned into a nightmare.”

The reality is, we are not rearing or supporting new leaders as we continue to exalt the soldiers of the past. Even if you look at Rev. Al Sharpton, who is the heir apparent or the next wave? I realize that times have changed and that so has the face of leadership. I also comprehend that other factors such as the media, empathetic White people and POC have changed. I also know and see modern Civil Rights generals are out doing incredible, sacrificial life work for the people like Tamika Mallory, so I am NOT trying to be disrespectful at all. In fact, Black Lives Matter and other movements have proudly touted a more decentralized leadership model, a direct response to the decapitation of the Civil Rights Movement. And you already, know the United States has mandated that it will no longer permit another “Black Messiah” to come to prominence. Murder is not off the table and people know that consciously and subconsciously.

Clearly, many children and young adults are not raised in environments that home school about the vast contributions of Black Americans or reinforce the true mission of Dr. King. His vision was more than a multi-colored playground of bliss with kids of different racial backgrounds can share a sandbox. Never mind the contributions of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, Stokely Carmichael (Kwame Ture), The Black Panther Party, Marcus Garvey, Coretta Scott-King, Fannie Lou Hamer, Angela Davis, Kathleen Cleaver…and many more that people have no clue about. And those are just the warriors for equality, not the inventors, business pioneers, soldiers and others that paved the way for the country to be better. These idyllic figures are now replaced by less than desirable pseudo leaders and social media-driven inactive activists that are really just hype machines and profit centers for themselves.

I have been involved with a Delaware-based initiative called “Raising Kings,” which was born out of the MLK legacy to foster and rear the next generation of Kings. The movement presently manifests itself in a number of ways like guidance in business, chess, panel discussions, and overall leadership. This year, nearly 1,500 people registered for the main conference and more attended throughout the week-long, free event. Hundreds of men and women volunteered their time for one reason: to provide young men with a road map to success, keep them out of jail, realize their true potential, create leaders, pair them with mentors and quite a lot more.

”Now when we come to Washington, in this campaign, we are coming to get our check.”

Dr. King’s message wasn’t static and it continued to evolve. He was quite radical at the time of his death. He has began to protest the Vietnam war, all-but-retracted the “I Have A Dream” speech, the poor (Poor People’s Campaign) was about to start and he championed workers’ rights – all workers. He was angry and wanted Black people to get paid. Straight up. He was murdered after his stance turned into an unfiltered, raw and relentless crusade against the true devastation that social injustice has on ALL poor and marginalized people. If you don’t get it, get this: his message included White people. To put it blunt, Dr. King was a G.

Martin Luther Kings are being killed at a rapid rate in innumerable ways in the present day. Some are literally being murdered like the mysterious deaths of young activists in Ferguson. Others are being “killed” through the active promotion of illicit drugs in our culture and others via wholly legal drugs. Others are brain dead thanks to a variety of mindless, worthless activities. Some of our future leaders are destroyed by way of mental death and they walk around in living shells. And then there is the so-called Black-On-Black crime, even though we know all crimes happen along racial lines. There are so many ways to die these days.

There are also many ways to live. Raising Kings and so many living, breathing programs like it continue to do the necessary, emergency work deep within our communities. Wilmington, Delaware, where was born, is as problematic as any place in this nation, but there is another narrative that will not make headlines or trend on social media. That narrative includes many people like Chandra Pitts that resolutely do the work day in and day out. There are also kids that excel in every metric and measure imaginable and they too come out of this place. Run tell that.

In closing, these writings happen every day, all day. Oftentimes, the result is inaction and lip service. I say to you all: DO SOMETHING. DO ANYTHING. In all of my activist work, one of the most significant things I even did was “adopt” my cousin and take him under my wing. I have impacted his life in a most positive way – and he mine. I am an award-winning father, if I do say so myself. If each of us mentors a single child, the world would change within a generation.

It is Raising Kings (and Queens), not Raising Savages. If we are to change the world in the manner than Dr. King envisioned, we better get real and get honest quickly or the next 50 years are going to closely resemble a Dystopian movie we pretend time and time over won’t come true. King’s message is alive and just as relevant as 1960’s racism, because that very same beast thrives today. So, things haven’t changed so much. We just have to re-educate ourselves and allow him to re-introduce himself.

Thank you.

Chris Brown Forced To Surrender Monkey To California Authorities

(AllHipHop News) Chris Brown has been forced to surrender his pet capuchin monkey to authorities after failing to obtain a permit for the exotic animal.

The singer angered animal lovers last month when he posted a picture of his three-year-old daughter Royalty holding Fiji, a baby primate.

Several concerned members of the public notified officials at the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, who opened an investigation and found Chris did not have an exotic pet permit.

Authorities obtained a search warrant, but Chris voluntarily agreed to hand over the monkey before his home was raided.

His longtime lawyer Mark Geragos told the U.S. gossip site that he could not believe law enforcement officials had dealt with his client so harshly.

“As I leave my office in Downtown L.A. and walk past people sleeping on the street on my way to defend people charged by the City Attorney with selling medical marijuana… now spending taxpayer money on investigating monkey business, this completes the circle on his absurdity,” he said.

Under California law, it is illegal to keep certain exotic species, including monkeys, poisonous snakes, lizards and other dangerous animals, without a permit.

If charged with the misdemeanor offense of having a restricted species without a permit, Chris could face a maximum of 6 months in jail.

His case has reportedly been passed on to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office.

The “Loyalty” singer, 28, isn’t the first pop star to get into a spot of monkey trouble, as in 2013 Justin Bieber’s own pet capuchin, Mally, was seized by customs officials in Munich, Germany after he failed to produce vaccination and import papers.

Justin eventually decided to give up ownership of his pet, leaving the primate to start a new life at a German animal park.

Company Hits E-40 With Countersuit In War Over “Captain Save A Hoe”

(AllHipHop News) Rapper E-40 has been hit with a countersuit as he fights the author of a book named after his 1993 hit “Captain Save A Hoe.”

The hip-hop star, real name Earl Stevens, initially claimed that writer Erika Kane and her publishers were ripping off the character he created and owns the rights to, accusing them of unfairly profiting from his work.

Stevens’ filing also stated that his “Captain Save a Hoe” trademark, which was filed in 2014 but has yet to be approved, includes clothing and entertainment services specified as “an ongoing series featuring comedy, action, and adventure provided through television, online webcasts and radio broadcasts.”

He asked a judge to pull the recently-released books from retailers and award him proceeds from sales to date.

Now, Vodka & Milk Publishing officials have filed a counterclaim, in which they allege that Stevens’ trademark requests are incomplete, and his rights do not cover the “Captain Save a Hoe” trademark in books.

They also allege that customers of the book series and fans of E-40 are different enough that there wouldn’t be any confusion, or cause anyone to think the books came from the rapper.

Vodka & Milk Publishing are seeking damages against Stevens, following his alleged requests that online retailer Amazon take the book down from its website.

These requests are said to have caused Amazon to remove the book from sale, leading to other retail outlets stopping ordering the book.

They claim they have been caused “irreparable injury, financial damage, and loss of income,” all of which they want to be proven at trial.

Stevens’ attorney told Billboard.com they are planning to file a motion to dismiss the countersuit.

Did T.I. Stop Xscape From Doing An Interview?

By Ne’Richa

(AllHipHop Rumors) According to Hollywood Unlock’s, Jason Lee, T.I. was none too happy about Xscape (including Tiny) being apart of an interview and shut it down immediately.

According to Lee, Troubleman was upset that he and the show have an affiliation with Floyd Mayweather, and therefore, did not “allow” Xscape to proceed with the sit down.

The group has been under scrutiny lately, especially with Kandi Burruss’ departure from the group.

It’s obvious that there are some internal struggles at hand that should be handled a bit more professionally in order for the group to get back to serving us that classic 90s R&B we’ve been needing.

Hopefully they address these conflicts before bridges are burned.

It is a bit odd because we could’ve sworn T.I. and Floyd Weather decided to bury the hatchet. I guess we were wrong.

Cardi B Puts King Yella On Blast!

By Ne’Richa

(AllHipHop Rumors) If there’s one thing you cannot do, you cannot speak ill on Cardi B’s name! The rapper decided to handle a rumor up close, and personal when she taped herself having a conversation with King Yella.

He decided to flap his gums and spread the word that he had relations with Cardi.

Well, long story short, she wasn’t having it! Along with many expletives and high pitched shrills, she addressed him directly. She claims that she only “tolerated” his presence, and only knew him thru her ex-fiancee Tommy.

She specifically stated that she NEVER had any inappropriate contact with Yella, to which he could only respond with stutters and the like. Is everyone coming for Cardi nowadays? Must be the cost of fame….
