Pioneer DJ D-Nice Joins Tech Start-Up To Merge Community And Government

D-Nice, one of Hip-Hop’s pioneers from the Golden Era of rap music, has announced he has entered the tech market, investing money and his social currency into a Silicon Valley-based startup that aims to revolutionize how governments and residents engage.

Simplicity Tech Inc. announced that the DJ has joined the company’s Advisory Board as an investor and ambassador representing the City of Los Angeles.

According to a press release, “Simplicity app is a city in your phone where people find all critical city updates, emergencies, outages, road closures, enforcements, city events, and more. The app is currently used in over 100 cities, including San Francisco Bay Area and Chicago suburbs.”

Tapping D-Nice and his powerful “Club Quarantine” following, a network that includes everyone from his homies from The Bronx to United States presidents, is a brilliant idea.

During the 2020 pandemic quarantine season and the civil unrest in the streets, D-Nice provided millions a safe virtual space to engage, fellowship, and decompress.

He also wove in community, love, and social justice themes, calling people to vote, raising money for HBCUs, and marrying action and entertainment with technology through the Instagram platform.

With this newest partnership, D-Nice and Simplicity hope to bring “people closer,” and unite their respective “communities.”

“Club Quarantine demonstrated the power of technology as a tool to bring together a community of people around the power of music,” said the DJ, whose real name is Derrick Jones. “Simplicity is another example of leveraging technology to lift the spirits and deepen the relationships among people in cities around the world. The alignment was too obvious not to be part of the movement.”

Juraj Gago, the co-founder of Simplicity, said, “We believe that any city in the world can utilize the Simplicity app and help its residents navigate the chaos of current social networks and misinformation.”

“Having Derrick back up this critical mission is significant and can help the company achieve our main goal: to improve life in cities.”

D-Nice is excited about the collaboration. He is also enthusiastic about performing Club Quarantine Live at Carnegie Hall in New York City on August 4th.

Lizzo Is At “Peace” With Her Bubbling Career

Lizzo has reached a “peaceful” point in her career where she can “enjoy the ride.”

The superstar, real name Melissa Jefferson, released two studio albums before achieving mainstream success with 2019’s Cuz I Love You.

After dropping her new record, Special, earlier this month, Lizzo has admitted that she is in a really good place and is enjoying being able to focus on making music.

“For every artist who goes mainstream, it’s like AD and BC, right? As in before and after your breakout moment,” she explained in an interview for ELLE UK‘s September 2022 issue.

“It’s a very peaceful place for me to be in now because I feel like all my projects before this were not in pursuit of fame, but in pursuit of telling my story, and finding my voice and then, eventually, helping people,” she said.

Lizzo went on to note that she is grateful to be able to balance her music career alongside other projects, such as her body image advocacy and Yitty shapewear line.

“I can tell my story and share my music and help people. And it’s great because I can now do it without having to explain who I am. I never have to go, ‘Hi, my name is Lizzo,’ ever again,” the 34-year-old shared. “Nah, y’all know who I am. So just enjoy the music. Enjoy the ride.”

Kodak Black Receives Bad Boy Chain From Diddy’s Son King Combs

Kodak Black is the new owner of a Bad Boy chain.

Diddy’s son King Combs presented Kodak Black with a Bad Boy chain to celebrate their “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” collaboration. King Combs posted a clip of his gift-giving on Instagram.

“Had to bless my brother with the official Bad Boy chain!” King Combs wrote in the video’s caption. “Welcome to the family! @KodakBlack THANK YOU for locking in and making this hit with me! #CantStopWontStop out now on all platforms! @eliantte.”

King Combs released his Kodak Black-assisted single “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” on July 22. The song uses the same sample as Lil’ Kim’s “Crush on You.”

Last month, Kodak Black got some good news when a judge confirmed the rapper didn’t require GPS monitoring while out on bail. The Atlantic Records artist was mistakenly saddled with a monitoring device by a probation officer.

Kodak Black was released on bond following a drug arrest in July. He was charged with trafficking in oxycodone and possession of a controlled substance.

The controversial artist claimed his latest arrest was an example of harassment. He threatened to sue police in a series of Twitter posts, lashing out about his frequent run-ins with the law.

JayDaYoungan Was Murdered By 5 Assassins

JayDaYoungan was reportedly ambushed by a cadre of five assassins.

The gunmen collaborated and murdered the rapper in his native Louisiana. His father was also shot in the incident, that ultimately took the life of the young rapper.

The father recently spoke with TMZ about the incident when he made the revelation. This coincides with the rumors that he was murdered in a coordinated effort to silence him forever.

At the time of this writing, there was no clear motive for the murder, but there is speculation. JayDaYoungan had a number of run-ins with the law as well as in the streets.

The father says they were sitting in the front yard of their home, when suddenly a black truck came on the block. When it stopped, three individuals leapt out of the van with guns.

The father and son attempted to escape them, but on the side of the house they were waiting. Two more people pulled guns out and shot them. Scott, the father, was shot twice. His son was shot eight times, at least.

Scott says his son does not know the government. And he also says he does not believe it was gang related.

So, this goes back to motive. Why would he be targeted in such a way if there was nothing behind it. I mean, they would have to at least know him to go out him in that way. I’m thinking, dad is abiding by the laws of the streets, which is absolutely no snitching under any circumstances.

If he is, I would say that’s pretty sad because his son is his flesh and blood. On the flipside, maybe he’s making sure he does not be a culprit when it is time to get those individuals back for the murder of his kid. Either way, it is a sad situation that warrants us rethinking our culture.

Gun Law Cancels Concert Featuring Future, Freddie Gibbs And Other Rappers

A Georgia gun law led to the cancellation of an Atlanta festival, which booked Future as one of its headliners.

According to multiple reports, organizers canceled the 2022 Music Midtown festival because state law prevents a gun ban on the festival grounds. This year’s Music Midtown was scheduled to be held at Atlanta’s Piedmont Park on September 17-18.

“Hey Midtown fans — due to circumstances beyond our control, Music Midtown will no longer be taking place this year,” organizers said in a statement on the festival’s website. “We were looking forward to reuniting in September and hope we can all get back to enjoying the festival together again soon.”

Music Midtown intended to ban guns from its festivities. But Georgia law allows residents to carry firearms on public lands, such as Piedmont Park.

Organizers were reportedly concerned about potential lawsuits from gun rights activists if weapons were banned from festival grounds. They also believed some artists wouldn’t perform if firearms were allowed at the event.

Future, My Chemical Romance, Jack White and Fall Out Boy were supposed to headline the 2022 Music Midtown festival. Freddie Gibbs, 2 Chainz, Denzel Curry, Baby Tate, Key Glock and Redveil were other notable names booked for the event.

Shakira Ready For Showdown With Prosecutors In Tax Evasion Case

Shakira is set to go on trial for alleged tax evasion in Spain.

After the Colombian popstar was accused in court of tax evasion for the years 2012, 2013, and 2014, a magistrate ruled that the case should go to trial.

Shakira was charged with tax evasion of $17 million in the country.

Judge Marco Jesús Juberías argued that the singer spent over 200 days in Spain from 2012-2014, making her liable to pay taxes there.

Shakira’s team asserted that her main residence at the time was in the Bahamas, though local media reports she owned a home near Barcelona with her ex-partner, Spanish football player Gerard Piqué.

The judge also argued that Shakira and her financial adviser used companies in offshore tax havens to attempt to hide the sources of her income during 2012-2014.

In July 2021, a judge recommended that the case could go to trial, citing “sufficient evidence” that Shakira committed tax evasion.

Following a year of legal negotiations, her team failed to reach an agreement with Spanish prosecutors.

A representative for the 45-year-old star said in a statement: “Shakira and her team consider that this case constitutes a total violation of her rights since she has always shown impeccable behavior, as a person and taxpayer, and total willingness to resolve any disagreement from the beginning, even before the criminal proceeding.”

Big Meech Trolled Again, This Time By Man Pretending To Be A Judge

A man impersonated a judge in a hoax involving a prison release for Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory.

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, a Kansas resident named Gabriel Desmond Yankey Jr. claimed to be a United States district judge in a fake filing about Big Meech. Yankey “signed off” on the compassionate release of Flenory in the Eastern District of Michigan.

Yankey trolled Big Meech by sending out a document saying the Black Mafia Family co-founder’s prison sentence had been reduced to zero months. The judicial imposter also wrote the abbreviation for “not applicable” on the section of the form regarding the defendant’s supervised release.

“No supervision! After release!!” he wrote with three exclamation points and a word scratched out in pen.

Big Meech’s attorney Brittany K. Barnett denounced the mock sentence reduction in a motion filed on July 25. She informed Judge David M. Lawson that her client withdrew the fabricated order about his compassionate release.

“Demetrius Edward Flenory, by and through his undersigned counsel, hereby notifies the Court that the motion/order filed with this Court on July 22, 2022 (ECF No. 1731), is withdrawn in its entirety,” Barnett wrote.

She continued, “The above-mentioned motion/order was filed by a third-party unknown to both Mr. Flenory and his undersigned counsel. Mr. Flenory and his counsel had no knowledge such a document would be filed, and neither Mr. Flenory, nor his counsel endorse the frivolous filing.”

Big Meech previously dealt with an unsolicited motion attempting to secure his release from prison in December 2021. Rico Dukes, who claims to be the son of Huey P. Newton, filed a motion arguing Flenory’s imprisonment violated the international laws of the Hague Convention.

Dukes sent the motion without Flenory’s knowledge. Barnett asked for it to be withdrawn, just as she did with the document submitted by Yankey.

Big Meech and his brother Terry “Southwest T” Flenory were sentenced to 360 months in prison for running the Black Mafia Family drug empire. Last year, a judge reduced Big Meech’s sentence to 324 months.

The Black Mafia Family’s story has been dramatized in the 50 Cent-produced series BMF, which airs on STARZ. Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. plays his father Big Meech in the show.

BMF debuted in September 2021. Just a few days after the first season’s premiere, STARZ greenlit the show for a second season. The crime drama is expected to return later this year.

UPDATE: Mystikal Denied Bond Over Rape, False Imprisonment, Robbery Charges

Update: Mystikal has been denied bond and will remain behind bars in the Ascension Parish Jail for first-degree rape, simple robbery, domestic abuse battery, false imprisonment, and simple criminal damage to property.

Mystikal is currently behind bars in a Louisiana jail after being hit with multiple felony charges, including rape, robbery, and felony strangulation.

The rapper, whose real name is Michael Lawrence Tyler, was booked at Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office before being transported to Ascension Parish Jail, where he is awaiting arraignment according to records. He was booked at 12:50 p.m. on Sunday (Jul. 31).

He is charged with felony first-degree rape, simple robbery, domestic abuse battery; strangulation. He is also facing charges of false imprisonment and simple criminal damage. The offenses are all recorded as having been committed on Sunday at 9:21 a.m.

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office

Mystikal served six years in prison after pleading guilty to a sexual battery charge in 2003. He was released in 2010. Then in 2016, he was accused of first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping, but the investigation was closed in 2020. Louisiana’s Caddo Parish District Attorney declined to indict and dismissed the charges, although by that time Mystikal had already served a year and a half.

He also had to raise 3 million in order to post bond and was forced to wear an ankle bracelet for almost a year. Mystikal said he had sex with a woman at a party following his “Legends of Southern Hip-Hop” in Shreveport, Louisiana. He claims the woman was there with her boyfriend and later claimed she was raped instead of admitting to being unfaithful.

After the case was dismissed, Britney Green, who worked on the case for the District Attorney’s office had this to say.

“We never want to be a part of any process that has an innocent person tied up in the criminal justice process,” she explained. “I just want to say that there is a distinction between not guilty and innocent, and that also because the case is dismissed or a case is resolved in a fashion other than at trial, that it doesn’t necessarily mean that an incident did not happen.”

Get To Know Luther Gales III, A Mogul Diversifying The Landscape With A 600M International Portfolio

How does one play a high end stakes game of real life Monopoly? Introducing Mr. Luther Gales III, a 26 year old entrepreneur with a portfolio that compares with the ranks of many power brokers on the Forbes list. Luther, a self-made millionaire, began his empire in 2014 at the age of 18. From a $220k life insurance inheritance, Luther began promoting and producing concerts which headlined popular artists such as Diggy Simmons, Mindless Behavior, and more. With over a million dollars in profit in less than a year in the concert industry, Luther then set his attention to a different industry that would catapult his net worth to eventually become a billionaire…. Real Estate.

As Luther sought out a lane in the real estate game, he noticed the exponential growth in the United Arab Emirates and quickly diverted his efforts to the real estate market in Dubai. With the money he procured, exactly $1.7 million dollars, Luther invested in a prime plot of land in downtown Dubai in hopes of developing. Although the plot of land’s purchase price was $3 million dollars, Luther was able to scrape up the remaining funds, and soon after, the deal was finalized. Within months of closing this high risk deal, it was rewarded generously by EMAAR, who bought the plot for an astounding $8 million. Luther knew he had the secret formula to flipping real estate! Luther used the proceeds from his first deal and continued to purchase land in Dubai and develop and sell when it made the most sense to. The proven path of success led Luther to building an impressive real estate portfolio that now expands 7 countries and 40 states in the U.S.A.

Luther’s real estate portfolio only scrapes the surface of the returns he’s amassed over the years. As stated, Luther’s first love is music and entertainment where he still continues to promote large concerts and tours for elite artists worldwide. Power brokers such as Live Nation are reporting astronomical numbers in 2022 with $560 million in revenue in the first quarter alone. That’s a whopping 680% increase from the pre-pandemic numbers of $72 million in Q1 of 2020.

Over the years, Luther has invested in political tours that have included Bill and Hillary Clinton, as well as former First Lady, Michelle Obama. On the music industry side, Luther has invested in the careers of chart topping artists such as Wiz Kid, Migos, Lil Baby, B2K, Future, Ciara, ASAP Rocky, ASAP Ferg, Kendrick Lamar, and other industry hitmakers. In addition to politicians and musicians, Luther has also invested into the careers of major sport stars such as Sterling Sheppard, Jamal Adams, and Buster Skrine. Now at the age of 26, Luther has a real estate portfolio appraised at $620 million, in addition to his entertainment empire which is valued at $45M.

So what’s next for someone who already has it all? Well with already having political co-signs from First Lady Michelle Obama, we can expect to see Luther Gales III to run for presidency in his lifetime. But before then, Luther is on a diligent and achievable path of being a billionaire by his 30th birthday thanks to the next industry he plans to dominate… medicine/pharmaceuticals. Aside from being a business man, Luther proves to enjoy the fruits of his labor via his social media accounts. On any given day when he’s not in his office finalizing multimillion dollar deals, he’s motivating the masses on social media with his lavish vacations, star studded events, and inspirational seminars.

DJ Kool Herc And Cindy Campbell To Auction Off 200 Original Items From The Birth of Hip-Hop

Two of the most influential figures in world history are about to cash in big time, selling off a massive part of their legacy in an upcoming auction.

According to Forbes, DJ Kool Herc and Cindy Campbell have agreed to auction over 200 items from their archives, documenting the creation of Hip-Hop culture.

As reported by AllHipHop.com, the brother and sister duo recognized as the Godfather and Godmother of Hip-Hop are credited with throwing the first jam in the Bronx, birthing the most influential genre of music and culture in the world.

At 18 years old, Herc (whose real name is Clive Campbell) threw a back-to-school party for his sister in the rec room of their apartment building in the Bronx on August 11th, 1973.

The auction will be placed on Christie’s website from August 4th-18th but will be auctioned in Christie’s Rockefeller Center galleries in New York from August 5th–12th as part of Hip-Hop Recognition Month.

Herc, who is of Jamaican ancestry, said, “At our parties in 1970’s New York, it was about something that was bigger than ourselves.”

“Hip-Hop is both an American immigrant story and a global story,” he said. “It belongs to everybody. And we can still see and feel it today.”

The auction will include original vinyl records from Herc’s crates circa the 1970s, the Herculoids sound systems used at the 1973 party, clothing and jewelry, jam fliers, Polaroid photos of Herc and friends, and various awards Herc has received over the years for his outstanding contributions to pop culture and music.

Jesy Nelson Gets Rid Of Braids For Curls After “Blackfishing” Scandal

Jesy Nelson is washing her recent record split drama out of her hair with a fresh, natural cut.

On Friday, it was announced that the former Little Mix star had parted ways with music behemoth Polydor Records a little over a year after she signed with them.

Ignoring the news on her Instagram account, Jesy decided to instead show off her new short, curly hair.

The 31-year-old is well known for her love of long extensions, which she wears both poker straight and in big bouncy curls.

Now though, she’s going au naturel with a shoulder-length style.
“Natural Hair is finally health again,” she wrote next to a snap of her gazing into the camera.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CgsHWVxvm9N/?hl=en

Last week, a spokesperson for Jesy confirmed the record label news to The Sun, saying: “Jesy Nelson feels now is the right (time) for her to move in a new direction. As a result, she has decided to part company with Polydor.”

The singer has been removed from Polydor’s talent roster.

In a statement to Metro, a record label representative revealed Jesy split from the company because they “failed to agree on new music.”

“Polydor have amicably parted ways with Jesy. We have enjoyed working with her and everyone at the label wishes her nothing but the best for the future,” the rep added.

Following the release of her first single, “Boyz” in 2021, a follow-up single and debut album have both been delayed.

“Boyz” featured Nicki Minaj and was reminiscent of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ song “Bad Boys for Life,” with the single causing an instant ‘blackfishing’ scandal.

Organizations Converge To Help Free Grandmaster Jay And Transparency For Breonna Taylor

A coalition of several organizations have united to raise awareness they hope will lead to the release of John F. Johnson, the former leader of the NFAC.

The Concerned Coalition of African Americans, The National Action Network, and other groups have called the conviction of Johnson, also known as Grandmaster Jay, “a miscarriage of justice” under the Bring Him Home Campaign.

Eleanor Harvey, BHH Coordinator stated, “The U.S. Government has targeted, falsely charged, and convicted Johnson in a sham trial while those who stormed the U. S. Capitol on January the 6th are getting away with murder. This is how America treats Black people who stand up for their people and exercise their constitutional rights. This is a shame.”

Kathleen Parks, president of the National Action Network President Louisville, Kentucky State Chapter, also issued a statement, which read, “We stand behind the exoneration and or acquittal of Mr. Johnson on this miscarriage of justice. He is being treated as if he is the worst type of criminal when he was the most law-abiding citizen during any protest he participated in. This is unacceptable.”

Johnson was found guilty of one account of assaulting and impeding officers and another count of brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. In 2021, he was indicted last year on federal charges that accused him of pointing a rifle at law officials during a protest on September 4, 2020. The military-styled formation was in response to the police killing of Breonna Taylor. Johnson founded the Not F###### Around Coalition, or NFAC, the largest Black militia in the history of America.

The Bring Him Home Campaign seeks the exoneration of Johnson and they also couple their movement to demand more information and justice in the killing of Breonna Taylor. Breonna Taylor was a 26-year-old African-American emergency medical tech that was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police officers on March 13, 2020. She was in her own home when the officers burst in her residence with a no-knock search warrant. She was hit at least eight time by officers Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove as she slept.

Johnson and the NFAC worked closely with the local police or the legal demonstration of registered gun owners in September 2020 to ensure a safe, lawful convening.

In December of 2020, Johnson was arrested by the Federal Joint Terrorism Task Force Authorities at his home in an early morning raid and subsequently accused of pointed his “AR15 assault style rifle” at authorities, months after the demonstration.

The Bring Him Home Campaign organizers released a statement to expound on their position:

Video evidence of the incident clearly shows that his fingers were never on the trigger and that he never aimed his weapon as he briefly swept his light from side to side. Johnson testified that his weapon was on safe the entire time. Johnson, who had previously led six other such demonstrations across the nation without incident, was tried and convicted in a Louisville Federal District Court in May of 2022 by an all-white jury in what the coalition of organizations called a sham trial. They said that Johnson, who insisted on many occasions that all those who exercised their 1st and 2nd amendment rights to respect the law and law enforcement, was targeted by the Trump administration because of his race and the growing size of the NFAC and the popularity of his legally armed protesting movement. Legal gun sales amongst the Black community increased 85% in 2020 in response to this movement.

Johnson, currently held in Kentucky, faces up to 25 years in federal prison. He is slated to be sentenced on August 22, 2022. He must still contend with a trial in Kentucky State Court for the same offense he was already convicted of.

The organizations are asking the Federal Judge to release Johnson from detention pending his sentencing citing, Johnson who was free on pretrial release for nearly two years prior to being convicted, had no violations, and attended all hearings on his own. They insist that his current detention prevents him from preparing for his sentencing hearing or preparing for his upcoming State Trial. They further assert that he is not a flight risk and not a danger to the community.

The campaign also includes political support lobbying, social media content creation and trial injustice awareness activities in their six-point plan.

Trap Dance Hall Pioneers, The Yutes & Masicka – Get Money (Official Video)

If you’re into hip-hop or dancehall music then I invite you to check out the brand new single called “Get Money” by  “The Yutes” and “Masicka”.

Check out the song and watch the official music video here:

The song starts with a super catchy beat and melody that instantly gets the listeners attention and as soon as the chorus starts it becomes clear that this is going to be a world wide hit!

Masicka is singing the chorus and he sure knows how to write lyrics that will be stuck in your head! The intro/chorus is followed by the first verse, which is a perfect mix of hip-hop and reggae and showcases the talent and skill of The Yutes. The verse is followed by the chorus.

The next verse is done by Masicka, who is a master story-teller and a truly generational talent who clearly knows what he is doing, as he is able to sing the chorus and rap during the verse in a perfect way. The following verse features The Yutes brothers again and the more I listen to it, the better this tune gets.

What’s really striking here is the versatility of these artists as they perfectly mix trap hip-hop and dancehall. They somehow managed to create a totally unique piece of art that really sets itself apart from all the other artists out there. These guys are real trap dancehall pioneers!

The song is produced by Grammy-award winning producer Teflon, which means everything is perfectly balanced and an absolute pleasure to listen to. The beat sounds super fat, the bass-line is killer and the synth melody is complimenting the vocals by The Yutes and Masicka. The mixing and mastering is definitely done to

perfection. But it doesn’t end there! Not only is the song amazing and the quality outstanding, there is also an official music video on Masicka’s YouTube channel (see above). The video was directed by Shane Creative and I would definitely recommend checking out the video, as well as listening to the song.

The music flows perfectly with the visuals and the entire thing is a timeless piece of art that will be enjoyed by audiences around the globe for decades to come! Credit also needs to be given to the creative directors of the music video: Chuck Wilson and Domingo Neris.

The Yutes (Jamaican Patois Slang for “The Youth”), a brother duo composed of Chris and Tris, splashed upon the scene in 2017 with a song called “Trap Don Dadas” the song combined their Jamaican heritage with modern trap elements which solidified them as pioneers of a dynamic sound that we now know as Trap Dancehall.

The sons of dancehall legend Mr. Lexx, The Yutes leverage an unparalleled authenticity and heightened musical sensibility to push the creative envelope, catching the attention there current label Babygrande Records.

The Jamaican style-benders’ unique artistry earned them a collection of accolades, including placement on A3C Volume 7 with “Trap Don Dadas” and a show- stealing SXSW performance — alongside the likes of J.I.D., DaBaby and others. In 2020, The Yutes’ release “Bring It Back” single which quickly crosses the one- million Spotify streams mark.
