Miles Brown Talks Reeling In The Hip-Hop Greats On ‘We the Future’ Album

Miles Brown is far more than just a character on Black-ish, he’s a rapper in his own right. At the young age of 15, the young prodigy has already mastered 3 different careers: from dancing to acting to now, music. He states, “I still see myself as a kid, obviously I still am. I don’t ever want to be treated not as if I am one because I love doing different things. Dancing, acting, music – even in the future, I don’t want to be put in a box.”

Releasing his debut album titled We the Future to the world, Brown uses his voice for the greater good, speaking on real-life current events and issues happening around the world. The 15-track project follows in the footsteps of his father who’s also a rapper, Wildchild of Lootpack, putting on for hip-hop in the most positive light. With production from Madlib, Mic Checkmate, and Deliv, and features from the old school to the new school, from Slick Rick, to Dame D.O.L.L.A., Miles puts together a masterpiece highlighting topics including positivity, family, mental health, equality, and social injustice.

Off the rip on the intro track, fans are blessed with shout outs from all the greats such as Redman, Method Man, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, and even Post Malone. Beyond the music, Miles is also the first ever junior correspondent for the NBA, interviewing professional basketball players from a child’s perspective.

AllHipHop: It’s crazy to me that you’re only 15 and doing all these things. Do you feel 15?

Miles Brown: I know more, if that makes sense. Me being on Black-ish gave me that push to speak up about topics I want to talk about, that may not have been covered. Me growing up and having different experiences has made me want to reach out and have more knowledge on certain things I want to do.

AllHipHop: How old were you when you started dancing choreography?

Miles Brown: I was 4 or 5 years old when I started dancing hip-hop choreo, because it was fun. My sister started dancing, I always wanted to start. I had my whole dance teacher and dance crew, it always seemed fun. Being able to travel, going to competitions, meeting other dancers I used to watch on TV, going to different countries to perform was super awesome and super fun as a 5-year-old to do. That inspired me to want to entertain, whether it’s acting or music. Getting that experience with dancers like Les Twins, certain people inspired me to travel and do different things.

AllHipHop: Debut album We The Future out now! How are you feeling?

Miles Brown: It’s crazy it’s finally out, this is something I’ve always held on to for a long time. Me wanting to put it out for so long, certain things have gotten in my way from putting it out sooner. I officially recorded 80% of the album a year and a half ago, but my voice changed. I didn’t want to put the album out knowing my voice changed. It’d sound weird. My dad is an artist. People might be surprised I wanted to rap before I even started acting. With Black-ish taking up the majority of my time, I never got around to being able to do my own project. My voice changed 4 different times, what kept me from putting out the album 2 years ago. I’m excited for people to hear it. I’ve shown people certain songs over the years, but my dad and I didn’t want to rush anything.

AllHipHop: What made you name it We The Future?

Miles Brown: I’ve always wanted to have some type of call out to the youth, to my generation Gen Z. Especially with what’s been going on, the youth are mainly the ones on the frontlines and taking control of certain things. A lot of kids don’t realize the power in the voice we have, the potential. Whatever happens in the future, we’re the ones in control in a certain amount of time. It’s left up to us. Shout out to my sister Kiana for coming up with the cover idea, a remake of the picture of the signing of the Constitution. You know how it says We The People? I wanted to remix that with We The Future. With all the different songs, I have a lot of super talented kids on the songs with me. JD McCrary, I wanted to represent and put super talented kids my age on the album.

AllHipHop: You also have elites like Jidenna and Slick Rick, talk about those incredible features.

Miles Brown: Those were definitely an accomplishment. It’s crazy knowing people I know personally, my friends, it’s a combination of a lot of people. JD’s on “Smile All Day”, shout out to him. Maya’s (ROSECLAY) on my song “Special” dedicated to my mom and my sister. TJ Brown played Nas on The Get Down. Slick Rick, Dame D.O.L.L.A., a lot of artists on there I see as accomplishments because I always looked up to them. Dame D.O.L.L.A. whether it’s basketball or rapping, Slick Rick obviously because of what he’s done in his career. Having that personal relationship and asking them to be on my project, them willing to do it was my biggest accomplishment for the album.

AllHipHop: How did you get all the legends on the intro? They’re way before your time!

Miles Brown: It came mainly through my dad, he’s an artist. Everything he taught me when I started listening to music, that’s how I grew up to know and love them. Have that whole generation in my mind. A lot of kids may not know who those people are, I’m privileged. Rakim and Big Daddy Kane, I opened for them when I was super young and started rapping. My relationships with a lot of those people started through acting, through dancing, not even anything to do with music. I knew them on a personal level to where they seen I wanted to try something new. Macklemore, Method Man, Redman, people I knew personally that I never started getting into their music until recently. I’m glad they were able to do a little job on that song.

AllHipHop: Who are your top artists in rotation?

Miles Brown: As his son, I have to say my dad for sure. I support all different styles, I love both generations from mine to my dad. I have favorites from my generation, from his generation. It’s personal things whether I want to turn up and listen to some Drake and Travis Scott, or I want to listen to some Rakim and Slick Rick. I’m glad to know who some artists are that I know a lot of kids don’t know. There’s a lot of artists from my generation I know, that my dad may not know of. I’m glad to have that connection of both generations, I can gladly listen to both.

AllHipHop: What songs mean the most to you and why?

Miles Brown: Definitely one is “Special” for sure, that’s about my mom and my sister. “We The Future” is a special song because that’s one of the first songs I recorded. Me getting Damian Lillard on that specific song was important because I knew what he’d done with basketball going into rapping. I wanted to have that same energy: go from rapping to dancing to acting. Do different things and not be put in that box.

“Drowning” is a special song for me, it dives deep into mental health. It’s a broad song a lot of people can listen to, I wanted to speak up and talk about that.“Rock The Beat” because I come from the dance community. A lot of Bboys and Bgirls can dance to that song. My dad helped me because he knew I wanted to make a song a lot of people can dance to. Shout out to Madlib for producing “Entourage”, a crazy song for me to do.

AllHipHop: Madlib? That’s legendary!

Miles Brown: A lot of people don’t know that, he’s almost an uncle to me. He and my dad are both artists, they both work together. I never even knew that he was this famous rapper/producer, I always saw him as Madlib. I’d always see him around, he’d be making beats for my dad. I needed a turn up song, crazy story how I even got that beat. My mom finally convinced me to do a song with him, shout out to uncle Madlib.

AllHipHop: What were your early dreams? Even though you’re still so young.

Miles Brown: I’ve always wanted to be in entertainment, whether it’s with rapping or dance. I always loved performing in front of someone or having a camera on me, doing something in front of my family so they could see. Obviously I always wanted to be in the NBA, that’s a common goal. I still want to be in the NBA. I don’t know if that’ll happen still, but anything to have fun. When I was 4 years old, me having fun led directly to dancing. Then it went to acting, now it’s music.

AllHipHop: Are you nice with the hoops?

Miles Brown: I think I am. [laughs] I always wanted to go to the NBA. Every boy’s and girl’s dream is go to the NBA and WNBA. I’ve always kept that in my mind. I love basketball, I love the game. I used to do a song called “NBA.” I teamed up with the junior NBA to set up clinics for kids. I was able to be their correspondent, go to different games, interview players from a kid’s point of view. I always wanted to do it as a person who loved the NBA. I’m not typically someone with the skills to go straight to the NBA, but the closest I can possibly get to there. That’s how specifically I got Damian on the song because of how I interviewed him. I’ll always love hooping.

AllHipHop: Fondest memories from shooting Black-ish?

Miles Brown: It’s hard to say, I’ve been on the show for almost 7 years. Definitely filming our Juneteenth episode, a super important episode for us to even film. For us to get into our characters, get into the feel. Recording songs on set and filming a whole musical vibe. When I got the call I got the job, that’s the #1 moment. Tracee Ellis Ross’s daughter Diana Ross came on set one time, I’m a huge Michael Jackson fan. I’m a die-hard Michael Jackson fan. I knew who Diana Ross was, all of her songs. I had a Wiz vinyl of the soundtrack, I was able to finally get her to sign it. That’s the craziest thing I ever had.

Eminem’s Would-Be Murderer Heading To Trial In April

Matthew David Hughes, the man charged with breaking into rapper Eminem’s Detroit house, has finally received a date for trial, April 19th in a Macomb County Circuit Court.

Hughes, 27, broke into the Clinton Township home of the “Stan” rapper with the express intention to kill the platinum-selling artist.

According to Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, he woke up in the middle of the night to the shock of the stalker standing behind him.

When Hughes was asked what he was doing in the house, he said he was there to take Em’s life.

A swift thinking Mathers led him out of his home to his security detail, where the man was held until authorities were able to come and arrest him.

It was later revealed that Hughes was indeed homeless. He was charged with first-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of property.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the trial is set for a little over a year from the incident which took place on April 5th.

“I don’t believe we’re going to have trials with jurors until the vaccine is produced, and that’s a ways down the road, I think,” Judge Edward Servitto said as Hughes, through his representation, retained the option of a trial conducted via Zoom or a much faster bench trial.

While this case against his real-life Stan is underway, the “Rap God” is celebrating his long-time friend and collaborator’s Grammy nod for his critically acclaimed album, Allegory.

“So happy for @Royceda59 and @Alchemist on their Grammy rap album of the year noms! Seems like @RecordingAcad might be starting to get it right.”

Is Michael B. Jordan Planning To Get WILD On New OnlyFans Account?

Newly-crowned People’s Sexiest Man Alive Michael B. Jordan has launched an account on the adult site OnlyFans dedicated to his facial hair.

The “Black Panther” star has been embracing a more hirsute look during the COVID lockdown and he is now eager to show it off.

“I never had time to actually sit in one place and grow my facial hair, where I didn’t have to get it groomed, or manicured, or anything like that,” he told U.S. late night host Jimmy Kimmel. “So, during quarantine, I just wanted to see how much hair I could actually grow.

“His name is Murphy. We call him Murph for short. Got an OnlyFans coming soon – eating fruit, all types of crazy stuff. It’s going to get wild.”

Now the actor is using his new look for a good cause, by teaming with bosses at the fan subscription service.

“I’m actually going to start one (an OnlyFans account) but like all the proceeds I want to go towards a barber school because during the quarantine, you know, there’s been so many businesses and schools that shut down,” he added.

Jordan will join stars like Tyga, Cardi B, Bella Thorne, Amber Rose, who have also shared special content to the platform.

Kevin Hart Snaps On Fans Over Comments About His New Baby

Kevin Hart hit out at fans who questioned the star’s decision to use his baby to promote his latest comedy special.

The 41-year-old “Jumanji: The Next Level” star came under fire for dressing his newborn in a shirt that bared the name of his latest comedy special, “Zero F#### Given,” with some fans even threatening to call child protective services as a call as a result.

Hart appeared to ignore the comments before finally butting heads with his critics as he posted a screenshot of a headline reading, “Kevin Hart Slammed For Dressing Newborn In ‘Profanity-Laced’ Outfit, Fans Suggest Child Services Will Be Calling If He Doesn’t Take The Shirt Off.”

“This is the world that we are currently living in,” he penned in the caption. “(Stuff) is funny and sad at the same time…. Y’all motha f####’s need to grow up and get a hobby… Once again I could give ‘Zero F####’……Now go watch my special on NETFLIX.”

He added: “Stupidity at the highest level. This is why my mindset is what it is in my comedy special.”

The actor welcomed a baby girl, Kaori Mai, with wife Eniko Parrish on September 29th.

The couple also shares three-year-old son Kenzo Kash and he has two children – 15-year-old daughter Heaven and 13-year-old son Hendrix – from his previous marriage to Torrei Hart.

Does Somebody Have And Issue With Nas?

I never got the sense that Nas and 9th Wonder had any sort of issue, but I was looking at one of my fave destinations and came to the conclusion that they likely do. First of all, 9th Wonder, the legendary producer, has crafted beats for everybody from Sean Price to Shawn Carter (Jay-Z). And so many more like Rapsody who is still doing incredible things. But not Nas. OK, no big deal right?

Maybe there is. Check out what 9th Wonder posted on social media:

https://twitter.com/9thwonder/status/1331292839804801027?

Uhhhhhh, Nas got nominated too! Nas is Top 5 DOA! Yo! Nas might even win! 9th Wonder has an issue with Nas – seemingly – and people saw it in plain view!

But why? Why?!

It seems like 9th remixed Nas’s God’s Son and called it God’s Stepson! He removed Nas’s face and then replaced it with his. Blasphemy! LOL! Seriously, this was a good piece of work! But, Nas didn’t like it for some reason and apparently, things have been shaky with the two gods since. Now, I have my own opinions rooted in nothing! But for a minute, 9th was very tight with the Jay-Z camp, most notably Young Guru. And maybe Nas felt a way about that, and it bled over into 9th Wonder? I always thought that was it, but I have no proof at all.

Check out God’s Stepson (Mixtape) – it is worth your 80 minutes.

Nicki Minaj Joins The Weeknd In Blasting The Grammys

New mom Nicki Minaj noted Grammy nominations day by putting the Recording Academy on blast for her 2012 snub.

The “Anaconda” hitmaker still hasn’t forgiven the powers that be for failing to give her the Best New Artist honor following her breakout year.

“Never forget the Grammys didn’t give me my best new artist award when I had 7 songs simultaneously charting on billboard & bigger first week than any female rapper in the last decade – went on to inspire a generation,” she snarled on social media. “They gave it to the white man Bon Iver.”

Meanwhile, Twitter and Instagram lit up after the 2021 nominations were announced following a shocking The Weeknd snub – the Canadian hitmaker, who has dominated many of the awards shows this year, didn’t pick up a single mention.

The Weeknd also issued a fiery response to being left out, after a groundbreaking year. The “Blinding Lights” star was completely shut out of the 2021 awards when the nominations were announced and many music experts have taken to social media and blogs to share their surprise.

And now the singer has made it clear he’s upset, tweeting: “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…”

https://twitter.com/theweeknd/status/1331394452447870977?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet

Meanwhile, Recording Academy chief Harvey Mason, Jr. has addressed the drama in a new interview with Variety, insisting there’s nothing twisted or sinister about the The Weeknd’s snub – he was just unfortunate not to get a mention.

“It really just comes down to the voting body that decides,” he says. “We have eight nomination slots to fill (in the ‘Big Four’ categories: Best Album, Song, Record and New Artist), five in others, and the voters vote for their favorites.

Beyonce dominates the 2021 nominations list with nine.

Asian Doll Gets Massive King Von Tat, Internet Judges Her

I do not think anybody knows what it’s like to lose a loved one like King Von. And the rapper was literally on top of the world and rising faster than a spaceship. We saw the potential that he held and we can’t say that many people knew it more than Asian Doll. The rapper and the lady rapper were a couple and that was something that it seems like she cherished deeply.

She went back-and-forth over Von’s last words, which I thought were pretty dope except that his manager refuted it. Either way, I am going to say those were his last words to her and that they were dope. Maybe it was cap 🧢, maybe not. At any rate, I don’t care because the truth is not always on trial. Just ask Gucci Mane. AnyWho, Asian doll went and got a massive King Von tattoo on her hand. I know that had to hurt!

She got a tattoo that’s pretty impressive in it is a testament to her love for the rapper. If she didn’t like him so much, she might have gotten his name or something more discrete but she got a huge tattoo of his face on her hand into her fingers. There is no way that that tattoo is ever coming off or getting covered up! Just ask Gucci Mane, who still has an ice cream cone tattooed on his face! Dairy products aside, homegirl is being critiqued for getting such a large display of affection posthumously.

The internets are saying that it’s for the clout! They are questioning her love and adoration for King Von. I’m not in a position to do that but I am in a position to report back what folks are saying and that is exactly what they are saying.

Mariah Carey Still Mad Over Comedian’s “N Word” Snub Along With Hip-Hop Insult

Mariah Carey was “so upset” after being called the N-word by comedian Sandra Bernhard in a 1998 stand-up routine.

The singer told Naomi Campbell about the controversial moment from Sandra’s “I’m Still Here… Damn It!” special, when she claimed Mariah was exploiting being biracial to further her career.

“She’s trying to backtrack on our a#### by acting real n*****-ish there at the Royalton Hotel suite with Puff Daddy and all the greasy, chain-wearing Black men,” Bernhard said.

Reflecting on the impact of the comedy show, Mariah told Naomi: “I wish I would have called you back when it happened because I was so upset and nobody came to my rescue at that point. But whatever, I can’t – it’s ignorance.”

Naomi added that Bernhard’s quip was “rude and disrespectful” as well as being “completely racist”.

“People can be very hurtful, but one of the things that hurt me, because I care about you and I care about the past, was what Sandra said. I was just like, ‘Are you for real?’ How did that even slide by?” she continued.

Gesturing at Mariah, Naomi added: “You are Black. You have every right. You are working also, in a professional capacity. I just felt like, now, I wanted to clear that up because I was p**sed.”

Mariah is the daughter of former opera singer Patricia, of Irish descent, and Alfred, an aeronautical engineer of African-American and Afro-Venezuelan descent.

Alicia Keys Tapped To Teach Songwriting & Producing For MasterClass

15-time Grammy Award-winning artist Alicia Keys is set to teach a class on songwriting and producing. The R&B icon’s online course is now available exclusively on the MasterClass platform.

“Alicia is simply a legend,” offers David Rogier, founder/CEO of MasterClass. “She appeals to and unites her audience with empathy and empowerment. In her MasterClass, Alicia not only breaks down her creative process, but deconstructs her most influential songs. She inspires all of us to control our power and purpose.”

Keys will instruct MasterClass members on her approach to writing memorable tunes such as “Fallin’,” “If I Ain’t Got You,” “No One,” and “Un-Thinkable (I’m Ready).” She also shares her personal philosophies on how to unlock authenticity, empathy, and vulnerability.

“I cannot stress enough the power you have when you’re truly confident in yourself,” says Keys. “In my MasterClass, I’m excited to connect on a different level. We’re gonna talk about what I’ve learned, my process, and how to access what’s inside of you, so you can connect and get it out into the world.”

She recently dropped her self-titled Alicia album which includes the singles “Underdog” and “Show Me Love” with Miguel. The Recording Academy Responds To Rumors The Grammys Snubbed The Weeknd Over Super Bowl Performance

“The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency,” tweeted The Weeknd on Tuesday evening. The “Blinding Lights” hitmaker was reacting to the fact that he was completely shut out of nominations for the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.

https://twitter.com/theweeknd/status/1331394452447870977?s=20

Many of The Weeknd’s fans were also agitated that the R&B/Pop superstar did not earn any nods from The Recording Academy. That particular snub became one of the most talked-about cold shoulders of the 2020 nomination announcements. It even led to rumors that The Weeknd was purposely ignored by the Grammys over his headlining gig for the Super Bowl LV halftime show.

The Recording Academy interim President/Chief Executive Officer Harvey Mason Jr. was interviewed by Billboard. Mason was directly asked if his organization retaliated against The Weeknd because the Canadian vocalist wanted to perform at the Grammys ceremony and at Super Bowl LV which was allegedly discouraged by the Academy.

“No. First of all, the Super Bowl performance is [one week] after our show, so at no time would we be upset if he were to perform on the Super Bowl,” said Mason. “Our show producer, Ben Winston, and CBS had some preliminary conversations. We would have loved to have him on our stage. I think he was working toward that happening.”

Mason added, “The Weeknd has always been someone that the Academy has respected. I think a decision of that magnitude as far as the show would be made by Ben Winston. We’ve had him on the show [twice] in the past, and he’s always done incredible performances for us.”

https://twitter.com/theweeknd/status/1326930502477991936?s=20

In addition, Mason stated voting in all Grammy categories ended before The Weeknd’s performance at the Super Bowl was announced earlier this month. He insisted that the SBLV halftime show did not affect the Grammy nominations. Clearly, The Weeknd feels the Grammy nominating process is tainted in some way, evidenced by him accusing the Academy of being “corrupt.”

Mason responded to that “corrupt” allegation by saying, “It saddened me. I try to empathize with where that came from, but it was difficult to hear. I can understand he’s disappointed [at being shut out]. Everybody at the academy understands that he’s disappointed. I was personally surprised that he was not nominated.”

Many industry prognosticators predicted The Weeknd would be one of the most nominated acts for the 63rd Annual Grammys which are scheduled to air January 31 on CBS. “Blinding Lights” – which just set the record for the longest run in the Top 10 of Billboard‘s Hot 100’s – was a favorite to pick up Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year nods. The record-breaking After Hours was expected to garner an Album Of The Year nomination.

“Blinding Lights” is currently the #7 song in America in its 51st week on the Hot 100 chart. After Hours also hosts the former #1 single “Heartless” as well as the Top 20 hits “In Your Eyes” and “After Hours.” The Weeknd also found success with “Smile” – a collaborative track by the 30-year-old XO label frontman and the late Juice WRLD.

After Hours received an 80/100 rating on Metacritic. According to HitsDailyDouble, The Weeknd’s fourth studio LP (1,891,000 units) is the third best-selling project of 2020 behind Lil Baby’s My Turn (2,443,000 units) and Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon (1,913,000 units). Neither My Turn nor Shoot for the Stars were listed in the Album Of The Year category either.

Netflix Axes ‘Chappelle’s Show’ After Dave Chappelle Requests The Series Be Removed

Netflix is no longer offering the groundbreaking Chappelle’s Show via its service. This decision came after Dave Chappelle personally requested his classic sketch-comedy series is taken off the platform.

During his November 7 monologue on Saturday Night Live, Chappelle expressed irritation that his show was streaming on Netflix without him being properly compensated for the content. The four-time Primetime Emmy Award winner also addressed the situation in a stand-up clip titled Unforgiven which was posted to his Instagram page.

“When I left that show I never got paid. [ViacomCBS] didn’t have to pay me because I signed the contract. But is that right? I found out that these people were streaming my work and they never had to ask me or they never have to tell me. Perfectly legal because I signed the contract. But is that right? I didn’t think so either,” said Chappelle in the IG video. “That’s why I like working for Netflix. I like working for Netflix because when all those bad things happened to me, that company didn’t even exist.”

He continued, “When I found out they were streaming Chappelle’s Show, I was furious. How could they not know? So you know what I did? I called them and I told them that this makes me feel bad. And you want to know what they did? They agreed that they would take it off their platform just so I could feel better. That’s why I f### with Netflix. Because they paid me my money, they do what they say they’re going to do, and they went above and beyond what you could expect from a businessman. They did something just because they thought that I might think that they were wrong. I think that if you are f###### streaming that show you’re fencing stolen goods.”

Jay-Z Ties Quincy Jones For Most Career Grammy Nominations

While most of the Twitterverse was arguing over the fact that critically-acclaimed superstars like The Weeknd were snubbed by The Recording Academy this year, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter quietly made Grammy history. He added another major milestone to his illustrious career.

Jay-Z is credited as a songwriter for Beyoncé’s “Black Parade” as well as Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” featuring Bey. Both tracks picked up Grammy noms on Tuesday. “Black Parade” is up for Song Of The Year and Best R&B Song. “Savage” is competing for Best Rap Song.

With those three additional songwriting nominations, Jay now has scored 80 throughout his four-decade career. That puts the Roc Nation boss in a tie with the incomparable Quincy Jones at the top of the all-time list. Beyoncé moved a step closer to joining her husband and Jones by securing 79 career Grammy nominations.

Nine of Beyoncé’s nominations came this year. The Black Is King album creator’s “Black Parade” single was recognized in the Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song categories.

The Houston native was also nominated for Record Of The Year again for “Savage.” That chart-topping collaboration with Megan is up for Best Rap Performance. Bey’s “Brown Skin Girl” (Best Music Video) and Black Is King (Best Music Film) earned Grammy consideration as well.

Jay-Z currently has 22 Grammys on his mantle. He is in a tie for 9th place on the all-time wins list and has a one Grammy lead over Kanye West for the top Hip Hop artist. The billionaire mogul has the chance to jump into the Top 5 with three more victories in January. Meanwhile, West’s Jesus Is King was nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.

Quincy Jones is in second place all-time with 28 Grammys. Operatic conductor Georg Solti leads the tally with 31. Beyoncé presently holds the 7th spot with 24 Grammys. She is the second-most awarded woman in Grammy history behind Bluegrass musician Alison Krauss (27). The next closest woman is the late Aretha Franklin with 18 Grammys.

Cardi B Claps Back At Wiz Khalifa For Suggesting She Was Not A Self-Made Artist

Like every year, the Grammy nominations created a huge stir online. Some Twitter users expressed happiness for their favorite artists picking up nods, while other users shared their disappointment over their favorite artist not being recognized by The Recording Academy.

Even entertainers jumped into the conversation to share their views on what was taking place. For example, Wiz Khalifa decided to quote-tweet and essentially co-sign someone that appeared to be throwing shade at Cardi B in defense of her longtime rival Nicki Minaj.

@Nickibarb9 [a screen name that indicates the person is likely a stan of Minaj] wrote, “Cardi [winning] a Grammy when Nicki Minaj didn’t is the biggest proof that they don’t know a s### bout music.” Khalifa quoted that person and added, “Most [self-made] artists have this problem.”

Almost instantly, fans of Cardi B began slamming Wiz Khalifa for suggesting that the exotic dancer-turned-hitmaker was not self-made. Cardi fired back at the Pittsburgh-bred rhymer by uploading a direct message Wiz apparently sent to her four years ago when she was still a rising new artist.

“This was Nikkas in my dms in 2016! They really support you when you grinding at the bottom then it’s a different story when you make it!” tweeted Cardi along with a screenshot that apparently showed Khalifa telling her “your doing a great job” and advised her to “keep your light shining and don’t let others take it.”

Cardi also posted, “I don’t understand why n##### entertain tweets that pit successful women against each other? Ya not tired of that? [Especially] when ya was rooting hard when a b#### was at the bottom.” Her husband, Offset of the Migos, seemed to defend his wife by tweeting, “N##### be hoes!!!! Smh.”

Khalifa responded to Cardi by stating, “Damn that wuz good advice. I still support u. Nothings changed. Your [self-made] in my book as well.” The 33-year-old rapper also implied that he would like to do a song with the “WAP” performer before adding, “I just don’t want a Cardi/Wiz war [going] on for no reason.”

Cardi B won her first Grammy Award in 2019. The Bronx-raised rapstress became the first solo woman to win Best Rap Album when Invasion of Privacy was awarded the honor. She has seven other career nominations. Wiz Khalifa has been nominated 10 times with no victories. Neither Atlantic recording artist received nominations this year.

The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled for January 31, 2021 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. R&B/Pop megastar Beyoncé leads the pack with 9 nominations. Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, and Roddy Ricch scored six nods each. The Daily Show‘s Trevor Noah was tapped to host the event.

The Weeknd Blasts The Grammys After Getting Shut Out Of Nominations

The nominations for the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards were announced on Tuesday. The Recording Academy is facing significant backlash for one of the most shocking snubs in Grammy history.

After dominating charts and streaming services throughout the entire year with songs from his After Hours album, The Weeknd did not receive a single nom. Many fans and industry pundits did not understand how the “Blinding Lights” performer was completely shut out of the nominations lists.

Despite winning three Grammys during his career, the musician born Abel Tesfaye also seemed to feel a way about how he was treated by the Recording Academy this year. The Weeknd tweeted on Tuesday night, “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry transparency…” That tweet has collected more than 830,000 likes, 262,000 retweets, and 30,000 replies.

Variety spoke with Recording Academy interim president/CEO Harvey Mason Jr. He does not have direct control over which acts receive nominations [a series of committees make those decisions], but the veteran songwriter/producer did discuss the overall nominating process.

“I don’t think [the Weeknd’s omission calls the nominations] process into question, honestly,” said Mason. “The process is there so we can continue to monitor excellence. I was in the ‘core room’ this year [which decides the main categories] and I observed, and the people in it are music professionals, at the top of their craft in songwriting and producing and there are a lot of artists.”

He continued, “And they were critically listening to every song that came across their desks — or virtual desks — so I don’t think it shows a flaw in the process. It’s a long, arduous process and people take pride in it. The people in that room care: there are no agendas in there, there’s no ‘let’s snub this person’ or that person. It’s about, ‘Let’s try and find excellence.’”

Other acts that were surprisingly shut out of nominations for the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards include Hip Hop artist Lil Uzi Vert, R&B singer Summer Walker, Pop singer Selena Gomez, K-Pop group Blackpink, and Country singer Luke Combs. Beyoncé goes into the ceremony, scheduled to take place on January 31, 2021, with the most nominations (9), including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Black Parade.”

Reginae Carter Unveils Busty New Look After Breast Enhancement Surgery

Lil Wayne’s 21-year-old daughter Reginae Carter has gone under the knife to boost her bust.

The reality TV regular, whose mother is the rap superstar’s ex-wife, Antonia ‘Toya’ Johnson, is showing off her new curves in People magazine, revealing she underwent breast implant surgery on October 9th – finally checking off a longtime dream.

“I’ve wanted to enhance my boobs since I was like 16, 17,” Reginae told the publication. “But my mom was always like, ‘Girl, no, just wait until you have your first child because you don’t know how everything’s going to be.’

“I’m 21 now, so she was like, ‘I can’t tell you what to do. You look perfect the way you are, but it’s whatever you want to do.’ So I finally got to do it, and I’m so excited about it.”

The aspiring actress, who became a model for Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty lingerie collection earlier this year, has been recovering ever since, and the healing process hasn’t been all “that bad.”

“I just had to sit inside for like a good two, three weeks and let everything heal and drop,” she explains. “I feel like they’re still in the process of dropping, but I still love them right now. At first it felt like my chest was a little heavy, but after a while it was cool.”

And the “Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta” star insists her plastic surgery decision had nothing to do with self-esteem, despite previously insisting she was “good” without a boob job as she responded to a comment made by a follower on Instagram in 2018.

“I also said I’d never get a wig before, and here I am,” she laughed. “It’s like, I’m young. I’m growing.”

“Reginae always had confidence,” she added. “I feel like it makes my little shirts cuter and my outfits come together more, but I have always been comfortable in my own skin.

“Any enhancement that I wanted to make was my decision. Nobody pressured me. Nobody told me to do this. I feel like I didn’t have society telling me this. I feel like it’s self-love. I love myself. I loved myself before the boobs, and I love myself after. I don’t care what people have to say.”

Kim Kardashian Reveals Why Kanye Turned Her Poem Into A Song

Kanye West’s song “Lost In The World” started life as a poem he had written for his wife Kim Kardashian’s 30th birthday.

Kim shared the story behind the track via Instagram as she celebrated the 10th anniversary of the rapper’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy project, on which “Lost In The World” features.

“Happy 10 year anniversary to Kanye’s ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ album,” she wrote.

“For those that don’t know the story behind ‘Lost In The World’… Kanye couldn’t come up with some of the lyrics but then realized he had them in a poem he had written me that was my birthday card he gave me for my 30th birthday. He took the poem he wrote me and made it the song.”

Kim shared photos of the hand-drawn card Kanye had given her for her milestone birthday, which featured stick figures of the couple on one side, and the poem which formed the lyrics to his Bon Iver collaboration on the other side.

EXCLUSIVE: Burberry Goes To War With Rapper For Illegally Changing His Birth Name To “Burberry Jesus” And Diluting Brand’s Image

Rapper Burberry Jesus better say a prayer to the Lord, because one of the world’s best-known fashion houses is suing the rapper for obvious reasons.

Burberry is accusing the rapper of stealing their name and trademarked patterns and using them to market his career.

Burberry Jesus, who breathes the brand, regularly drapes himself in the brand’s latest designs. He even wrapped his car in the Burberry’s signature tan, black and red striped design, along with customized tires!

The rapper, born Marvel Yarbrough, has been gaining traction lately too, accumulating almost 130,000 followers on his Instagram, where he posts pictures of himself upside down.

Burberry Jesus must have thought Burberry was playing around because the company’s lawyers warned him multiple times to stop infringing on their brand.

“Since December 2019, Burberry has written to [Burberry Jesus] nearly a dozen times to secure his cooperation to cease and desist from all uses of the Burberry word mark and all other Burberry trademarks,” said Burberry’s lawyer Michael P. Mayer of the law firm Winston & Strawn.

Burberry Jesus’ Car

“Although [Burberry Jesus] initially indicated that he would comply with Burberry’s request to cease his infringing conduct—even sending Burberry’s counsel an email claiming that he would “cease use” of the Burberry trademarks—subsequent events revealed that [Burberry Jesus’] cooperation was feigned, and he had no intention of complying with Burberry’s reasonable requests,” Michael P. Mayer added.

According to Burberry, the rapper even changed his real name to Burberry Jesus, but he lied on an application about his felonious past to get the name-change pushed through a court in Illinois.

“Unaware of the fraudulent and illegal nature of [Burberry Jesus’] application or of Burberry’s claims of infringement, the Circuit Court of Cook County granted his request for a name change to ‘Burberry Jesus’ on September 29, 2020,” Mayer continued.

Burberry maintains the rapper is putting their century-old brand at risk and is destroying their image by inappropriately affiliating himself with the brand without the proper authorization.

“Burberry works with musical artists and others in the music industry to enhance and promote its products and brand. Burberry carefully curates its music offerings to reflect the same strict quality control standards it applies to all of its products. Defendant’s improper use of Burberry’s trademarks is not only unauthorized and at odds with these quality control standards, but also dilutes the Burberry trademarks.”

Burberry’s lawyers are begging a judge to prevent Burberry Jesus from using their name. They are looking to shut down his accounts on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes Store, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, YouTube, Gmail, and wherever else the same may appear.

EXCLUSIVE: Tory Lanez Explains Why He Is Giving Back For Thanksgiving

Tory Lanez journeyed to two Brooklyn projects, Roosevelt and Breukelen Houses, to give back to those in need, but did not want the attention that has plagued him for the better part of the year to interfere with his charitable efforts.

When asked by AllHipHop’s Seleah Simone how he was spending Thanksgiving, he swiftly replied through grit-teeth and rapper-cool.

“Giving back, you know what I am saying? Giving back to people who don’t have or people aren’t able to be in a situation where they can provide for themselves,” Tory Lanez told AllHipHop.com. “I’ve been in that situation myself. So, I just feel like it’s important for me to give. Back.”

However, her follow-up questions hushed him quickly and his handlers rushed him away without any answer. The journalist asked him if he believed he would ever be able to talk with Megan thee Stallion again.

Amid the “Can you take a picture?” and “Thank you, Tory” remarks that echoed throughout the clip, her query stood out strongly in a “damn” moment that even those around him peeped.

The reference to Megan thee Stallion alludes to an earlier altercation where she alleges that the “Chixtapes” rapper shot her in the foot. He denies it, but the Houston rapper has not wavered from her story. She, in fact, has hunkered down, saying that she tried to protect him by not naming him but after his team floated negative stories about her she opted to support herself.

She even revealed that Lanez and his team offered her and another woman over 7 digits to keep her mouth shut about the shooting.

The law authorities are reviewing the case now.

Mike Tyson Shed 100 Pounds To Get Ready For Roy Jones Jr. Fight

Mike Tyson had to lose 100 pounds to get back in fighting shape for his showdown with ROY JONES, JR.

The two boxing champions will hit the ring for a pay-per-view exhibition bout at the weekend (28Nov20) and The Hangover star admits training was tough for him, because he had so much weight to lose.

“I became a vegan and my wife told me to get on the treadmill,” he tells Good Morning America. “I went from 15 minutes on the treadmill (at first) and it winded up being two hours. I kept going to the gym, I watched my diet.”

And the 54-year-old insists Saturday’s clash of titans will be a “real fight”, adding, “I don’t know how to dance!”
