Freddie Gibbs is more facing domestic violence allegations. The Alfredo rapper became a trending Twitter (X) topic on Friday (May 10) after his ex-girlfriend Jasmine Grenway shared graphic photos of injuries she allegedly sustained during a fight with Gibbs.
“Why are y’all acting so confused?” she tweeted. “I said Freddie Gibbs put his hands on me, which left scars and bruises, then I found out I was pregnant and he won’t help me get an abortion bc he knows the risks due to my medical history of having cervical/ovarian tumors and a laparotomy. Like stop being as dumb as me. Fr.”
She then shared the photos along with the caption, “Now that that’s out of the way, here’s to the more serious part.” When someone asked, “Freddie Gibbs did that?” she responded, “Yes.”
Grenway then tagged a woman who goes by “Destini Creams,” an adult film actress Gibbs previously dated and allegedly impregnated. She wrote, “And to @destinicreams I want my apology to be as loud as my disrespect. I honestly did not know. I judged you bc of your occupation and that was wrong on my behalf. I pray you get your justice as well.”
The woman replied, “Freddie Gibbs can’t beat up men so I see he’s resorted to beating up women. P#### a######.”
Freddie Gibbs can’t beat up men so i see he’s resorted to beating up women. p#### ass hoe.
Most of Grenaway’s tweets appear to have been deleted, but she did leave one up that reads, “I am not a slave to public opinion. Truth is truth. Nobody is more disappointed in me than myself. So y’all can defend my abuser if that’s what you want to do. I truly don’t want sympathy. I just had to share my story. The info is yours now and y’all should do as you please with it. We’ve all been dumb before, I just chose to share. I’m not ashamed. I’m human.”
I am not a slave to public opinion. Truth is truth. Nobody is more disappointed in me than myself. So y’all can defend my abuser if that’s what you want to do. I truly don’t want sympathy. I just had to share my story. The info is yours now and y’all should do as you please with…
At one point, Grenaway claims she even texted Gibbs’ mother and told her about the alleged pregnancy.
“I just want you to know I’m pregnant and I’m trying to get an abortion, but your son is not being logical about it,” the text reads. “He’s yelling at me as if this is something I wanted. I just want to take care of the situation amicably as adults.”
Gibbs, meanwhile, is posting tweets like, “The devil is a lie my n####,” seemingly unbothered as usual.
Some of the best music collaborations are built on friendships. “Paradise,” a smooth and spirited song about love, is one recent example of how a friendship can lead to musical success.
Released on April 26 by Apollo Liberace and Tyla Yaweh, “Paradise” replicates the bond the duo has in real life to provide a unique melody just in time for summer.
“Everything we do is organic,” Apollo Liberace said in an interview with All Hip-Hop. “We knew each other for years before we even did a song together.”
Tyla added, “We ended up doing “Paradise” on some organic s###. I had a studio session and asked him to pop up. I’m tired of everybody giving the same message. It’s no real message to give our next generation of people that look up to us. We’re at a point: ‘Yo, you gotta put that s### in the music.’ ‘Paradise’ feels sad, but it feels happy at the same time.”
Paradise is a love song. Apollo and Tyla, who are both in loving relationships with their female partners, were able to channel those experiences into the overall vibe of the song and visuals.
“The song is about when you have somebody, you could be at the most beautiful place in the world or the best place, but it don’t feel the same unless you’re with that special person,” Apollo said. “That’s what ‘Paradise’ is about. Even if I’m in paradise, it don’t feel the same unless I’m with you.”
AllHipHop caught up with Apollo Liberace and Tyla Yaweh in Los Angeles, where they discussed how they met, how “Paradise” came to be, what their ladies mean to them and more.
AllHipHop: How did you guys meet initially?
Tyla Yaweh: It’s an insane story. I met this guy on Worldstar. He was the top box on Worldstar, it was in a group called BDS Monstaz.
Apollo Liberace: Facts.
Tyla Yaweh: This is when you get on the top box, you gon’ blow up. And that’s what happened to them. This is that primetime WorldStarHipHop and they had that video up there for a cool three months. They bought that slot, it was crazy. It was a few weeks…
Apollo Liberace: Yeah, it was a few weeks. It felt like three months [laughs].
So y’all were kicking it before you made music?
Apollo Liberace: We knew each other for years before we even did a song together.
Tyla Yaweh: We ended up doing a song on some organic s###. Had a studio session, I told him to pop up.
Apollo Liberace: We recorded “Paradise” over here [Tyla’s crib], right at that desk right here.
Because I know you made the song a few years ago, right?
Apollo Liberace: Yeah, I started a few years ago, but I only had a little idea. I finished it here.
What were the vibes? I know it’s more alternative.
Apollo Liberace: Everything we do is organic.
Tyla Yaweh: Hey, I just tell people to live. Figure out that energy you want to create. I really been staying away from a lot of outside things. I be home, I be with my family. I’m growing up so much as a person, every single day it’s dope. I’m learning myself who I want to be and what type of sound.
He has that same exact frequency of staying away from all those outside resources that’s going to make you try to — we’re not here to fight for a spot. We’re here to make good music, have a good time and spread love. That’s something that we really came to a point with each other like “Yo, let’s make music people gon ’love.”
Apollo Liberace: Because neither of us really give a f### about the fame aspect of it, or any of that stuff. That’s why the only people we really around, and I know that about him too, are people that genuinely love doing this. Because anything outside of that, we’ve been around all that already. The blue checks. We never even started doing this for a lot of reasons. People do this whether it’s girls, money, fame — none of that. It’s for the love of the craft.
Tyla Yaweh: One thing I’ve been saying is I’m tired of everybody giving the same message. It’s no real message to give our next generation of people that look up to us. We’re at a point, “Yo, you gotta put that s### in the music.” “Paradise” feels sad, but it feels happy at the same time.
Apollo Liberace: Straight love. We spread love.
Tyla Yaweh: The message that’s going on right now. It’s unauthentic. I refuse to go that far in life to get a click or a view on some music. I’m not losing my dignity for that, for no one.
Apollo Liberace: For a check or nothing!
What is “Paradise” to you?
Tyla Yaweh: It’s this m########### right here, look where we’re at [points to view].
Apollo Liberace: The song is about when you have somebody, you could be at the most beautiful place in the world or the best place, but it don’t feel the same unless you’re with that special person. That’s what “Paradise” is about. Even if I’m in paradise, it don’t feel the same unless I’m with you. I’d rather be at home with you than be at the Taj Mahal or whatever the case may be.
It’s about spreading love. It’s a challenge going around on TikTok naturally with couples and love. Instead of some gimmick doing dances like ass shaking and pop locking, it’s real love. You got people with their kids, people they really care about that they will want to spend those moments with. That’s what the song is about. Naturally, that feedback is coming back to us when we put that out there, which is beautiful.
Tyla Yaweh: That was amazing, bro.
Apollo Liberace: It’s real, come on.
Y’all are both in relationships, how much do your ladies inspire your music?
Apollo Liberace: My girl [Ericka Wolfe] is my partner in everything. I don’t really need a full team, even though I have a team I’m building right now, but my home team is just me and her. We do everything together. Creatively, everything. She thinks she’s smarter than me.
Tyla Yaweh: She has a Ph.D, bro.
Apollo Liberace: She does. She is smarter than me, but I got street smarts [laughs]. She does a lot of things.
Tyla Yaweh: She’s a girl that rides and dies for you. That’s there, supportive. That’s down to be there through the thick and thin of everything.
Apollo Liberace: I don’t want to speak for her, but I am anyway. It’s cool for me knowing him for a while and seeing his relationship with Natasha. Seeing when they got together, both their hustles just maximized. They turning each other up even more. It’s crazy, from my point of view at least.
Tyla Yaweh: I love my girl [Natastha Graziano] a lot because she’s a motivational speaker. She’s always making sure she’s putting those affirmations [out there]. I just went to one of her conferences in Tampa, it was Risecon. Hella different, like David Grutman.
Apollo Liberace: Deion Sanders was there.
Tyla Yaweh: Mad people you see on Instagram. It’s a whole different world for me, too. Because I’m in music, this is what I do all day. But I support my girl no matter what. Seeing her side of the world, she’s making people cry. She’s making people really believe in themselves. She has this thing called Scripting, it got me into scripting. Ever since I started journaling my life and foretelling it, it taught me how to manifest so much more in my life.
Man, that girl motivates the hell out of me every single day when I wake up. And she’s having my baby girl, so that’s pretty cool. You treat your woman right. I say all my homies need to have a relationship with a woman that’s going to motivate them. That’s what I’ve been on.
What was the moment you found out that she was pregnant?
Tyla Yaweh: I just remember coming home. They rushed to the door, I’m like, “Why y’all rushing to the door so much. Yo, what’s going on?’ In my head, I knew s###. I started seeing symptoms. You just know when a woman’s pregnant. You feel the energy. As a man, you start getting tired. You felt it. She showed me like “here look.” She’s pregnant. F### yeah, let’s go.
Apollo Liberace: We were in Dallas for New Years when he told me.
Tyla Yaweh: I said, “She’s pregnant. Crazy! I’m having a kid.” I’m happy. I’m super excited. I’m just gearing up. That’s why we’ve been working on so much music. I’m working in the crib instead of being in the studio, late nights. I bring it at home. I don’t need to be out, I don’t need to be around certain energies. I want to make sure I protect my family.
What are your other records like?
Apollo Liberace: Tyla’s working on a project right now. We putting together an EP also.
Tyla Yaweh: You’re on that project too, though.
Apollo Liberace: I know, we’re working everything? Think of what “Paradise” sounds like, just “Paradise” variants. If “Paradise” had kids and all them m############ were different. One was bad, one was shy, one was angry. That’s what all the music sounds like [laughs]. “Paradise” babies. “Paradise” Bebe’s Kids.
Y’all both have vibrant personalities, so what would the EP be called?
Tyla Yaweh: [Laughs] Dum & Dummer.
Apollo Liberace: [Laughs] That’s already Key Glock and my dawg, rest in peace Dolph.
Tyla Yaweh: Beavis and Butt-Head.
Apollo Liberace: Beavis and Butt-Head would be fire. We talked about different ideas, but something big.
Tyla Yaweh: He named my project that’s coming out, it’s called Everyone’s A Critic.
Apollo Liberace: Facts. When he showed me the picture, for some reason I thought of Sherlock Holmes. He said “Bro, what does this make you think of? I was like: everyone’s a critic. That’s where we are in society. People with no background or anything they talk about, they feel like they have the answers.
Apollo Liberace: This music that he’s working on right now, it’s legendary. It’s my favorite project from him, but got some joints.
Ice Spice was born on January 1, 2000. The Bronx native came into the world on the same day the Y2K bug was supposed to end the world.
Later this year, Ice Spice will drop her debut studio album, Y2K. The 24-year-old rapper spoke to Zane Lowe for Apple Music’s New Music Daily. She talked about the inspiration for her upcoming project.
“Thankfully, I had my mom, so growing up I’d see her really embody the Y2K aesthetic in its truest form,” Spice stated. “It’s duck nails, it’s a tramp stamp. It’s brown lip liner no matter where you go. So thankfully I had her as my inspo growing up.”
“I have a book full of pages of album names and different ideas, and I just really find the beauty and simplicity,” Spice explained. “I was just like, ‘You know what? I want it to be short. I don’t want it to be this super long phrase.'”
Ice Spice released Like..? in January 2023. That Capitol Records release contained the singles “Munch (Feelin’ U),” “In Ha Mood” and “Princess Diana” with Nicki Minaj. As a taste of the forthcoming album, Ice Spice dropped “Gimmie A Light” on Friday (May 10).
The Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle became a globally-watched event as two of the biggest rappers of their generation faced off on wax. Drake represented Toronto and the nation of Canada, while Lamar stood tall for Los Angeles and the entire West Coast.
After dominating several streaming charts in America, Kendrick Lamar has also taken over streaming charts in Drake’s home country. The Mustard-produced “Not Like Us” leads Canada-specific daily rankings for Spotify and Apple Music.
“Not Like Us” currently sits at No. 1 on Apple Music’s Top 100: Canada chart. In addition, “Not Like Us” leads Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Canada chart. Lamar’s other Drake-directed diss track “euphoria” sits at No. 5 on Apple Music and No. 5 on Spotify in the Great White North.
When it comes to Spotify’s daily chart for the city of Toronto, “euphoria” holds the No. 2 spot behind “Expresso” by Sabrina Carpenter. “Not Like Us” is presently the third-most streamed song on Spotify in Toronto.
Industry forecasters project Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. If the single does reach the pinnacle of the Hot 100, Lamar will earn his fourth No. 1. He just scored his third chart-topper as a feature on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” single.
“Like That” ignited the all-out war between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. The two sides had been throwing subliminal shots at each other for years. The subs ended when Lamar took direct aim at the OVO frontman on “Like That” in March.
The “Dinner With Jay-Z Or $500k” meme took over the internet for years. Social media users debated the two options like dueling sports teams. Apparently, G-Eazy had the chance to take part in option A.
G-Eazy recently appeared on Wave Sports + Entertainment Original’s 7PM in Brooklyn hosted by Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Mero. The Bay Area-bred rapper reflected on dining with Jay-Z in New York while recording his second studio LP.
“I’m so locked in because I can taste it, I can feel it. I’m on the cusp of… I know what I’m sitting on and I’m locked in,” he said. “I’m in New York and I’m at Quad [Studios] working and you can’t bother me with anything.
“Nothing matters besides tunnel vision of this. And I’m in the last week of recording, finishing it and one of my managers, who’s a Jedi master, a legend in this industry, Gee Roberson goes like, ‘I’m pulling up. We’re going to dinner.’”
G-Eazy says his initial reaction was to stay focused on completing his album. Eventually, he agreed to join Gee Roberson for the mystery meeting.
“I still don’t know where we’re going or why the dinner,” he said. “I’m not in New York to have dinner. I’m here to finish this. We’re going and the whole drive there, I’m like, ‘Brother, how are you going to tell me what?’
“We get to the spot and the hostess says, ‘Can I help you?” And [Roberson] goes, ‘Yeah, we’re at Shawn Carter’s table.’ I’m like, ‘Dog, the f###?’
“I sit down and it’s like [Jay-Z’s] in the corner and he just looks up at me and he’s like, ‘How’d you get here? What’s your story?’ I started panicking. But then we just got into the convo and it was a life-changing kind of evening.”
Digga D is clapping back after Central Cee sent some subliminal shots in his direction on a new freestyle.
On Thursday evening (May 9), Digga shared a message via his Instagram broadcast channel from behind bars, where he’s awaiting trial on drugs charges. He referenced the beef taking over Hip-Hop, distancing himself from K. Dot and Central Cee collaborator Drake.
“I ain’t Drake,” he said before adding, “or Kendrick.” Echoing Rick Ross’ “white boy” jab at Drake and the sentiment in K. Dot’s “Not Like Us,” he also questioned Cench’s Blackness.
“N##### like sneak dissing in the UK,” he added. “I shouldn’t even say n#####.”
The West London drill artists have a long history of bad blood, which includes alleged gang affiliations, turf wars and violent altercations, including the rumored stabbing of Central Cee’s brother by Digga D’s crew, which Digga D alluded to in a 2021 freestyle.
While Central Cee left Digga D’s name out of his new “CC Freestyle,” he appeared to send some shots his way.
“Surrender your flag ’cause you’re not no Crip,” he raps, alluding to Digga’s drill group wearing blue. “I trapped and it changed my life/You trapped and all that you got was blues.”
He also appears to separate himself from Digga D, asking, “I’m a millionaire, bro, what about you?” Cench also boasts that he’s known worldwide, unlike his unnamed foe. “They book me in L.A., they book you in Leicester,’ he adds.

Digga D References Central Cee’s Brother’s Stabbing
This isn’t the first time the pair took their beef to the booth.
“Don’t compare me to Central Cee/He just stood there and watched when we chinged his brother,” Digga D said on an unreleased 2021 freestyle. ”I went to jail for that little f#####/I still came home to the nicest supper.
Central Cee dropped “Cold Shoulder” shortly after but refused to be drawn out. “They made a diss track, that s### was too whack to get a response,” he rapped.
The singer clapped back at the fans, claiming it was an old interview, and posted a photo of him holding up a much bigger stack of cash. She also threatened to block people over Hunxho shade.
“That man don’t hold up no lil money like that no more. Leave me alone wit all this old s###. I’m blocking yall FR,” she replied.
However, another person noted that Keyshia Cole failed to address Hunxho’s remarks about his many women or never settling down.
“So that’s what you took from the tweet,” they wrote. “So you decided to post him holding up ALOT of money??? Yall really set the standards high for each other. As long as he got money huh.”
Cole replied, “No not at all. But people need to stop sending me all this old s###. People grow and learn .. life ain’t stagnant.”
When another person told the singer, “You gone remember when ya heart broke again,” Cole stood firm. “My heart been broke before, “ she replied. “Yall gotta chill . Relax.”
Earlier this week, rumors circulated that Hunxho was dating his “Come Here” collaborator Gloss Up.
In the video, Hunxho suggests all his women are aware of each other.
“All of them is my main female, all my bi####s straight,” Hunxho said in part. “I love all of them equally, we all one. We all family. They all love me and I love all them, they all love each other. And they all respect each other. It ain’t no, they better not f##k up.”
Chief Keef has finally dropped the long-awaited Almighty So 2.
After more than a year of delays, Sosa returned with the sequel to one of his most iconic projects, Almighty So, released more than a decade ago in 2013. He teased the project earlier this week with a dramatic trailer before dropping off the lead single, “Drifting Away.”
Almighty So 2 arrived at midnight on Friday (May 10). The 16-track project clocks in at just over an hour and was almost entirely self-produced. Features include G Herbo, Quavo, Sexyy Red, Lil Gnar and Tierra Whack. Stream it at the end of the page.
Shortly before releasing Almighty So 2, Chief Keef sat down with Apple Music’s Zane Low for a rare interview.
When asked about rapping on beats he produced himself, Keef said it comes naturally. “When you put it together and you got creativity, it just flows, it just comes out,” he said. “Especially if it’s a dope beat or something dope, you just want to get it all off.”
He also explained that he released “Drifting Away,’ as the lead single because “The vibe of it is different from what you always hear from Chief Keef.”
Elsewhere during the interview, Chief Keef reflected on his legacy and personal growth since entering the industry.
“I’m about to be 29 years old, man I came in at 16 years old,” he said. “I was just young, The street life, and everything that came with that had me in a hold, especially in Chicago. So when I moved to L.A., I started getting better as a person. So, it took for me to come to L.A. to grow out of what I was and who I was and how I was.”
He added, “Now I’m even talking. You couldn’t get me to f###### talk in an interview.”
The Game has officially entered the diss track war, unleashing on Rick Ross in a new song titled “Freeway’s Revenge.”
The Compton native dropped around midnight on Friday (May 10), after poking at Rozay for days, attempting to draw him into the lyrical warfare that has consumed Hip-Hop for weeks amid the battle between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
Titled after former drug kingpin Freeway Rick Ross, The Game accuses the MMG honcho of stealing his name. He also mocks Ross’ health issues, claiming, “You 12 lemon pepper wings from a heart attack,” before referencing the K. Dot and Drizzy feud.
“This ain’t the Kendrick beef, my Drake sing songs,” he raps. “My K. Dot s###, I don’t have to turn the beam on.”
He also addresses Ross’ past as a correctional officer before turning up the heat after a beat switch.
“Congratulations. What an imagination/From CO to drug kingpin now this n#### acting Haitian/The stories these n#### tell/He gone’ tell us he got a key for every n#### he locked in a cell,” The Game continued.
“He gone tell us he just bought another crib, he living well/But he won’t tell us about his health condition, he sick as hell/He popping pills, they starting to f### with his brain/Seizures off the lean, Balenciaga shorts got s### stains.”
He closed out the track by warning that he’s the “Compton Grim Reaper,” before advising Ross “let it go.”
The Game – Freeway’s Revenge (Rick Ross Diss)
https://youtu.be/qY2-A9QCxRA?feature=shared
The Game released his Rick Ross diss just over a week after the battle-tested MC said his peers are scared to call him out.
“My level of disrespect has no limit & I can actually rap rap,” he said. “Fans gone choose up with whatever artist is currently safe for the culture to love as a whole but every real rap n#### in this s### KNOW who to play with & who not to.”
He also said rap beef has become “watered down,” and that J. Cole’s apology to Kendrick Lamar made it even weaker.
“Hip hop/Rap or whatever yall calling it these days was already watered down,” he added. “Then Cole apologized and turned this s### into Kool-Aid wit no sugar.”

Drake’s Toronto mansion has apparently become a hotbed of police activity amid his beef with Kendrick Lamar, after his address was exposed on the cover for “Not Like Us.”
On Thursday (May 9), TMZ confirmed the Toronto Police Service was called to Drake’s Bridle Path home around 3:30 p.m. ET. According to police, the call was reportedly about an unknown individual trespassing on the property, the second in two days. The assailant was allegedly involved in an altercation with security in the moments before authorities arrived. As a result, the man was taken to the hospital ambulance.
News of the trespasser follows reports of a shooting at Drake’s Toronto residence spreading across the internet just a day ago. The Toronto Police Operations account on Twitter (X) confirmed a shooting incident did take place on the morning of May 7 at 2:09 a.m. ET.
Officers arrived at Bayview Ave and Lawrence Ave E. Toronto Police Service said a man was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. City News reports Drake wasn’t shot in the incident.
CBC revealed the details about the Jungle Lion security firm hired to guard the estate, including the fact that it was reportedly established only four months ago and is owned by Drake himself. Apparently, the white Nissan Rogue seen parked outside the front gates of Drake’s Toronto property following the shooting was registered to the rapper’s government name.
In 2019, he was granted special permission by the city to e#### higher gates for security reasons. However, security has always been a concern for Drake and there’ve been many efforts to strengthen it, especially as of late.
“Everyone knows where he sleeps, where he eats and that has really freaked him out, us out, and we need heavy security outside,” Brad Rafauli, vice-president of Ferris Rafauli Architectural Design Build Group, told Toronto’s North York Community Council in 2019.
Swae Lee has fans saying he stood on business despite being pressed by a posh European rich kid during a semi-tense confrontation.
The interaction occurred fairly recently, and though few details confirm where it went down, the friction manifested between Swae Lee and a gentleman from across the pond. Long story short, a dude in a powder blue, chambray fraternity suit initiated an altercation with the Rae Sremmurd rapper over apparently checking out his girl.
“She was bad, bruh I had to, she’s bad,” Swae said before trolling the poor guy with his lyrics from “No Type.” He continued, “She’s a bad bi##h that’s the only thing that I like,” while laughing.
It’s safe to say homie didn’t like that one bit. He Swae she was actual a “good girl” and instructed him not to refer to her in that manner. Bro proceeded to taunt Swae with the “do you know who I am” card, asking, “You know what kind of family I am related from?” He finally revealed he was a descendant of “one of the richest European families” and demanded “respect for [his] name.”
Swae Lee gets into an argument with a RICH European kid because he was looking at his girl. Money stops nonsense 😂pic.twitter.com/2IKHq7pt1H
It’s worth mentioning that the Renaissance man also told Swae, “I appreciate your music.”By then, the damage was already done and the vibes were effectively ruined. The dude really must’ve been hurt because he tried to clown Swae Lee for having security. He also took a shot at his choice of transportation.
“You pull up in a Cybertruck, I have a Maybach, do you have a Maybach?” the agitated man asked, to which Swae replied, “I have a Rolls-Royce.”
It appears as though Keyshia Cole may need to embrace polyamory if she hopes to continue her relationship with boyfriend Hunxho.
The Atlanta native recently chatted with a YouTube vlogger, who captured Hunxho riding around the city in a car service and kicking it at a local Top Golf. Throughout the lengthy video, the “By Tomorrow” rapper fails to admit to being in an exclusive relationship with Cole and doesn’t acknowledge being entangled with his former flame Gloss Up. Instead, the brotha claims he doesn’t differentiate between his numerous partners while suggesting they’ve all agreed to the nature of their relationship with him.
“All of them is my main female, all my bi####s straight,” Hunxho said in part. “I love all of them equally, we all one. We all family. They all love me and I love all them, they all love each other. And they all respect each other. It ain’t no, they better not f##k up.”
In another portion of the clip, when asked if he was planning to settle down soon, Hunxho simply replied, “No.” However, further pressure revealed his rationale was simply that he doesn’t “want to get [his] heart broke.” Or so he said, while engaging in a full-blown money spread.
Hunxho Replies “Hell No” To Settling Down Soon While Talking About His Roster: “I Don’t Be Having Female Problems…All Of Them Is My Main Female. I Love Them Equally. We All One. We All Family.” pic.twitter.com/tWMoAusv1v
Keep in mind, earlier this month, Keyshia Cole and Gloss Up went back and forth on Twitter (X) after several photos of herself and Hunxho looking quite acquainted and cozy resting in each other’s arms began circulation on social media. In one of the flicks, Hunxho is even gripping a firm handful of cake, if you know what I mean.
”You know what it is in real life. 4L stinkalink,” Gloss Up wrote in the tweet featuring the photos.
Cole went on to claim the entire situation was the result of clout chasing antics and denied any issues between her and Hunxho. I wonder if she’ll be able to deny this as easily?
The Game appeared to be itching for rap beef of his own amid Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s much-discussed battle. The West Coast rapper tried to provoke Rick Ross by trolling Rozay on Thursday (May 9).
Game shared an image depicting Ross wearing an officer’s uniform and running with a bucket of chicken in hand. The Instagram Stories post was the Game’s latest attack on Rozay.
Ross frequently voiced his disdain for Drake in recent weeks, gleefully reacting to Kendrick’s disses. The Maybach Music Group boss was one of the artists dissing Drake in recent months. Game was not a fan of Rozay’s antics.
“It be the fat n##### wit the skinny legs always running they mouth,” Game wrote in one post.
Ross ignored Game, leading to more antagonization.
“It’s quiet today,” Game wrote. “Wingstop must be closed on Mondays.”
Despite the Compton connection to Kendrick, Game seemingly sided with Drake in April. Ross released his Drake diss track “Champagne Moments” that same month.
“Crack smoke is the exhaust from my pen and pad/Ghostwriters, they get to floss what you could’ve had/Record label takin’ a loss, are you in your bag?/You a worker wanting to chart, don’t make me laugh/Get to mine, tell by my watch, this a different time/Living fine, I’m getting high as your s### decline/Who believes he moving keys in his Louis V’s?/Run up on you and snatch your chain, watch you b###### bleed,” Ross rapped.
Rozay repeatedly called Drake a “white boy” on the song and social media. Drake responded on “Family Matters.”
“Ross calling me the white boy and the s### kind of got a ring to it/’Cause all these rappers waving white flags while the whole f###### club sing to it/Murder scene on your man tonight, then come to the vigil with the candlelight/Body after f###### body and you know Rick reading my Miranda rights,” Drake rapped.
“Family Matters” dropped during a memorable weekend in Drake and Kendrick’s battle. Kendrick stole Drake’s thunder by releasing the diss track “Meet the Grahams” less than an hour after “Family Matters” arrived. Kendrick piled on by unleashing “Not Like Us” the next day.
YBN Nahmir suffered a health scare, requiring a trip to the hospital. The rapper said he was recovering from a seizure in an Instagram Stories post on Thursday (May 9).
“I Just Really Had A Seizure TF,” he wrote.
Hours earlier, YBN Nahmir shared a picture of a hospital entrance with the caption “Pray 4 ya boy.” He complained about his medical trouble after disclosing the seizure.
“I been in this b#### all m############ day,” he said, filming himself in a hospital bed. “This s### is killing me. This s### is f###### killing me. What the f###?”
YBN Nahmir was apparently healthy enough to be released from the hospital as he posted footage of himself in a car hours later. Nahmir provided more details in a subsequent post, claiming he had to be revived on Thursday morning.
“Shoutout … everybody been checking in on me all day,” he wrote. “been over working myself doing shows bac 2 bac.. getting drunk everyday. deadass died & came back alive this morning. I genuinely give a f### about every single one of you! THANK YOU – FOE.”
YBN Nahmir admitted he had a drinking problem in the past. He told fans he was going to rehab “soon” in late 2023.
“Understanding your addiction & admitting to it is the 1st step,” he wrote. “Pray for me on this hard journey.”
The 24-year-old rapper previously discussed his alcoholism in 2022.
“I’ve been struggling with an alcoholic addiction,” he wrote. “I’ve changed so much due to it & not in the right ways. I’ve pushed so many of my love[d] ones away & the people I care about because of it. I’ve constantly tried to slow down / stop myself from drinking, but it’s not easy at all … I never knew addiction was this hard.”
YBN Nahmir achieved fame as a teenager. His breakthrough hit “Rubbin’ Off the Paint” was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Quavo and Lana Del Rey are allegedly an item—and probably have been for months. Rumor has it they started spending time together in January, but neither party has confirmed (or denied) they’re dating.
Speculation is running wild though after the singer was filmed recently at the Migos rapper’s V12 Restaurant & Sports Bar in Atlanta dancing to her own song “Summertime Sadness.” The video clip of Del Rey was promptly uploaded to Reddit on Thursday (May 9).
Sources atell AllHipHop Quavo is the one who gave Del Rey the $400,000 Jacob & Co Fleur de Jardin watch she was seen rocking at Coachella last month. While it hasn’t been confirmed, it’s certainly possible.
Chatter about the status of Lana Del Rey and Quavo’s relationship began after they appeared together at a pre-Grammy party at The Fleur Room in February. Paparazzi caught the two pulling up to the star-studded event very much looking like a couple out for a date.
When a paparazzo asked Quavo directly about the rumored romance, Quavo replied, “We’re having hits.” Del Rey, meanwhile, remained silent. The two were also seen strolling through the Fontainebleau Hotel in Las Vegas, again sparking more dating rumors.
Del Rey poured oil on the fire with an Instagram post featuring Quavo himself, eliciting even more questions about their situation. Again, nothing has been corroborated by Quavo or Del Rey, but it certainly looks like they enjoy spending time together. Quavo was most recently linked to Saweetie, while Del Rey’s dating history includes James Franco and Axl Rose.
In North America, basketball is more than just a sport: For many, it’s become part of their culture and a way of life. In rare instances, some of the world’s top players have emerged from the streets to the top of the sport, and they have become inspirational figures in doing so.
Unlike other sports, basketball can be played anywhere. All you need is a hoop and some ground, and that’s why so many different communities identify with the game, and its biggest league – the NBA.
Big Business
In turn, the National Basketball Association helps many industries to thrive. TV companies earn billions of dollars in subscriptions, while recent changes to sports betting laws see many operators introduce NBA lines across the regular and postseason.
The NBA has also been linked to the music industry for some time. All genres of music pay homage to the sport, but it’s more firmly entwined with hip-hop culture. There is a deep connection between the two, and it dates right back to the early days of this music scene.
A Shared History
The hip-hop scene started to emerge in New York in the late 1970s. At the start of the following decade, many of the most iconic early artists began to strike record deals, and the genre started to spread across the USA and beyond.
At the same time, the NBA began to welcome more African American players into its ranks. The league and the hip-hop music scene began to develop at the same time, with a more diverse community starting to switch on to top level basketball.
Over the next few years, both the NBA and hip-hop began to influence each other more heavily.
Fashion Conscious
Fashion is a major part of any youth culture and hip-hop was no exception. Artists appeared in photo shoots wearing NBA jerseys to define their allegiance with their favorite franchise. Over history, it’s rare for any music genre to attach to sports clothing, so these pictures were striking ones.
A more typical uniform for the devoted hip-hop fans involved baggy clothing and plenty of gold jewelry. In time, certain high-profile NBA players began to adopt this look, and one of the more notable fashion gurus was Allen Iverson.
A former shooting guard with four NBA franchises including the Memphis Grizzlies and the Denver Nuggets, Iverson appeared in eleven All-Star teams and was the league’s MVP in 2001. He was a star in the league, so when he adopted the hip-hop look, it helped the scene move more into the consciousness of basketball fans.
Allen Iverson led the way and many others followed to the extent where the fashion of hip-hop became something of an unofficial uniform in the NBA.
Listen to the Music
The National Basketball Association also offered a platform for hip-hop music to be heard. In the modern day, we’re used to hearing high-octane tunes blaring out across the arena, but this wasn’t always the case. Early tunes reflected player favorites, with the Atlanta Falcons taking on Jeezy’s track “Put On” as their anthem. Walk out music became more widespread, but some NBA stars become more deeply involved with the hip-hop scene. Kobe Bryant released his own single before later contributing to Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name.”
The great Shaquille O’Neal also took up the challenge and went on to enjoy a prolific music career. His releases didn’t always make an impression on the charts, but Shaq has so far produced four studio albums and no fewer than 19 singles.
Returning the Compliment
To acknowledge the part the NBA stars have played to promote hip-hop, many artists pay respect with their lyrics. The most prolific musician in this respect is the rapper Drake, who has referenced Allen Iverson and Kyrie Irving amongst others.
Being mentioned in lyrics is now seen as a major badge of honor for today’s group of NBA players. Similarly, the hip-hop artists love to collaborate with the stars, and such partnerships are seen as significant endorsements for their acts.
Because of this mutual respect between athletes and players, we can expect to see more of this in the future. It’s one way to ensure that the link between the NBA and hip-hop never goes away.
We see the NBA celebrated in many areas of popular culture. The league, and basketball in general has been the subject of many movies and TV shows, while we’ve just seen how big an influence the sport has on music.
It’s a two-way street, with music also helping to raise the profile of the NBA and make it more accessible. Whether it’s through lyrics, an album cover, or another form of reference, the link between the NBA and hip-hop is a historic one, and it looks to be here to stay.
Tory Lanez believed Drake won the battle against Kendrick Lamar. Joe Budden relayed Lanez’s opinion on the Joe Budden Podcast.
Budden said he received a jailhouse call from Lanez while out at a strip club. The rapper-turned-podcaster felt obligated to take the call, thinking it might be a serious conversation. As it turned out, Lanez simply wanted to talk about the Drake vs. Kendrick battle.
“I spoke to Tory Lanez … He picks Drake in the battle,” Budden said. “So now I’m in the strip club bathroom while he just telling me all the ways of why Drake won. But I don’t think he heard the Kendrick s###. But then the jail operator came on and he got flustered.”
Lanez aligning with Drake was hardly a surprise. The Canadians had issues in the past but settled their beef years ago. Earlier this year, Drake called for Lanez’s release from prison.
Drake faced backlash for supporting Lanez, who’s serving time in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. Fans recalled how Drake previously made light of the shooting on his 2022 song “Circo Loco.”
“This b#### lie about getting shots, but she still a stallion,” Drake rapped.
“Circo Loco” appeared on Drake and 21 Savage’s album Her Loss. 21 Savage claimed Drake’s lyrics were not meant to mock Megan.
“I don’t feel like that was his intention,” 21 Savage said in an interview. “Remember when I said I was telling him to not hold back, people tried to twist that to make it seem like I was talking about that situation. That bar was more of, like, a joke bar than him trying to say something about her. But I don’t really like speaking on people’s situations because life be real.”
A California jury found Lanez guilty of three felonies in the 2020 shooting of Megan. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Even as the second anniversary of Young Thug’s arrest looms, the incarcerated Atlanta rapper somehow remains in high spirits—and his latest court hearing is proof of that.
During testimony on May 7, just days after jurors heard 911 calls and saw footage from the scene of Lil Wayne’s 2015 tour bus shooting, the courtroom watched the video for Young Thug’s#### “Halftime.”
Thug and his lawyer Brian Steel watched the playback during the testimony, and apparently, the YSL head honcho couldn’t help but catch a vibe. Though their communication was nonverbal, you can clearly see Thug give Steel a tap on the shoulder and aside-eye smirk that’s obviously him nudging, without actually saying “Yo, peep how I nailed this flow right here.”
The pair couldn’t contain their smiles as Young Thug raps, “I done figured this s### out, if you think you gon’ bite on my swag, it’s a virus (Oh)/I don the swag and I pull up on b###### dressed in all white like Miley Cyrus (Yeah)/No, I’m not gay, I f### b###### on b######, I whip out, she suck on my private (Suck it).”
Since Young Thug’s May 2022 arrest, a great deal has changed between his frequent collaborators, especially within his inner circle. Since Gunna accepted an Alford plea and was released in December 2022, multiple rappers have publicly dissed him, including Future, who’s now releasing a mixtape the same day Gunna is relasing his new album.
Last month, Gunna announced his One of Wun album. Days before the album’s release, Future subliminally dissed Gunna on Twitter (X). Future crashed his fellow Atlanta artist’s spotlight with plans to drop a mixtape on the same day as One of Wun.
“F### yo album S### ain’t slappin like my MIXTAPE,” Future wrote. “MAY TENTH. MIXTAPE PLUTO.”
Gunna responded, “Turn this s### bac up Notch……! F## What These boys talkin bout.”
Despite the chaos going on around him, it’s good to see that Thug can still find a way to catch a wave to the bops he provided to the masses prior to his incarceration.
