Last week, Wale dropped his Folarin II album. That LP contains a track titled “Light Years” which features Rick Ross. Both rhymers have a long history as collaborators due to their Maybach Music Group association.

Travis Scott Returns With New Singles “Escape Plan” & “Mafia”

Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival begins today in Houston, Texas. As a precursor for the star-studded showcase, Scott dropped a two-pack with the “Escape Plan” and “Mafia” songs.

It is not clear if the tracks will live on the forthcoming Utopia album. Travis Scott has teased the project on social media for over a year. In October 2020, he tweeted, “GOING TO GO COOK UP AND BUILD THESE WALLS FOR UTOPIA. SEE YOU GUYS SOON.”

“Escape Plan” was produced by Oz and Nik D. “Mafia” was produced by Jahann Sweet and Boi-1da. According to the song credits on Tidal, J. Cole is credited as a composer and lyricist for the latter song.

Utopia is expected to be Travis Scott’s first full-length studio LP since 2018’s well-received, chart-topping Astroworld. Additionally, the Cactus Jack Records head appeared on the JackBoys compilation which also reached #1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

When asked if he felt burdened to succeed with new music, Scott stated in an interview, “I don’t feel no pressure, except to keep the fans alive. There’s so much more ground I can cover, and I want to cover it, and I love the challenge of it. I want to make a f###### new sound. I might spend days banging my head against a wall trying to figure it out, but once I do it, it’s like ultimate ecstasy.”

Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival 2021 sold out in under an hour back in May. Apple Music will stream “Astroworld: Live” tonight (November 5) at 10 pm ET. The two-day festival’s full lineup also includes SZA, Bad Bunny, Young Thug, Master P, 21 Savage, Roddy Ricch, Lil Baby, Baby Keem, and additional acts.

Summer Walker Drops ‘Still Over It’ Album Featuring Cardi B, Ciara, Lil Durk & More

It is officially Summer Walker season. The award-winning singer-songwriter is back with her latest body of work titled Still Over It.

The LVRN-released album includes some high-profile guest features. Still Over It opens with “Bitter” which includes a voicemail from Bronx rapper Cardi B. The project closes with “Ciara’s Prayer” narrated by fellow Atlanta-raised R&B star Ciara.

JT of City Girls (“Ex for a Reason”), SZA (“No Love”), Ari Lennox (“Unloyal”), Lil Durk (“Toxic”), Pharrell Williams (“Dat Right There”), and Omarion (“Screwin”) also appear on Walker’s sophomore studio LP. London on da Track, Buddah Bless, OG Parker, The Neptunes, 9th Wonder, and other producers provided the beats.

Still Over It is the follow-up to 2019’s Over It. Summer Walker garnered critical praise for her debut album. Plus, that Platinum-certified project debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart with 134,000 first-week units.

“Take this opportunity to learn from my mistakes. You don’t have to guess if something is love,” Summer Walker told Apple Music. “Love is shown through actions. Stop making excuses for people who don’t show up for you.”

The 25-year-old Interscope recording artist continued, “Don’t ignore the red flags. And don’t think you have to stay somewhere ’cause you can’t find better – you can and you will. Don’t settle for less—you don’t deserve it and neither does your family.”

Scarface: “I’m Done With The Rap” Talks Celebratory Houston Tour

Scarface joined fellow Geto Boy Willie D for an episode of the “Geto Boys Reloaded” recently. During the episode, he talked about ending his rap career with one last “farewell” show in Houston.

“The cool part about it is, I get to say farewell twice,” he said. “I get to go out there and say farewell by myself, and then I get to say it with you.”

Willie D spoke on the importance of Scarface doing a solo show so that he could be appreciated for the work he did as an individual artist. “You created a lane by yourself that nobody can get in.”

Scarface showed love in return and shared how much of an inspiration Willie D has been for him, particularly his “Controversy” album. He named it as one of his biggest influences, “He got on a record and said ‘F### the KKK.’”

Though he pointed out he has a whole other story to tell now, he’s unsure that he could ever write the way he once did.

“I was saying some good s###,” Scarface said. “I probably could never write like that again. But it’s a beautiful thing when you’re able to express yourself with words and people fall in love with your ability to deliver a story.”

Scarface Is “Done With The Rap”

Scarface wants to explore other genres to tell his story and said he is “done with the rap.” He wants to get into other styles of music and named blues, rock, and alternative as possibilities. “I want to do something different now,” he said.

He explained that he feels that there is nothing left for him to do after more than three decades in Hip-Hop:

“You know how you can just burn a lane? I burned the [Rap] lane. We did—we did it, Willie, we f*ckin’ did it, bro! We did it. Everything that we set to accomplish out there recording on the pool table with the f*ckin’ 4-track or 8-track with the microphone up against the wall? We made it, bro.”

The Hip-Hop legend also spoke in-depth about the life-saving transplant he underwent in September after his son donated his kidney. He revealed details of the operation and his recovery from it. He also spoke about his relationship with his son since the procedure.

Tahiry Reacts To Viral Clip Of Ex-Boyfriend Joe Budden Saying He’s Bisexual

Joe Budden’s name was one of the top trending topics on Twitter yesterday. The outspoken rapper-turned-podcaster had a lot of people thinking he is a member of the LGBTQ community.

While speaking on his show, Joe Budden said he “likes guys and girls.” Many outlets ran with a story claiming Budden came out as bisexual, but the quotes were taken out of context from a conversation about an article covering DaBaby allegedly being accepted again by the LGBTQ group Relationship Unleashed.

Joe Budden then trolled the internet by seemingly confirming he was sexually attracted to both genders. The New Jersey native tweeted, “Ahhhhhhh, I see the word got out!! Continue to spread the word [please].”

Someone with a long history with Joe Budden decided to share her thoughts on the viral news. Budden’s ex-girlfriend, Tahiry Jose, addressed the bisexual rumors involving her former Love & Hip Hop: New York castmate.

“Joey may be a women beater but far from Bi… and Vado better stop calling, DM’ing me and popping up to my old crib. I’m [just saying],” tweeted Tahiry on Thursday night.

The Harlem-born reality show star added, “Na, I would’ve known! We did things. And I’m submissive… ONLY IN BED! So that’s a hard pass. No point intended. Lol”

At first, Tahiry backed the idea that Joe Budden was just trolling for attention by writing, “I’ve put the past behind me… THANK YOU THERAPY… Phone please stop ringing!!!! He’s a calculated person, a smart person, so smart, it hurts him a lot of the times! Stay tuned!”

However, Tahiry later posted, “I mean he got a little money now and ninjas that ain’t never had nothing might just get excited, bored & want to try new things. If so… please let him LIVE!🤷🏽‍♀️.”

Big Sean Responds To Kanye West Calling Him A “Sellout”

Hip Hop star Kanye West is once again in the news. This time the G.O.O.D. Music founder made headlines for his appearance on Drink Champs.

Multiple clips from N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s podcast spread across social media. However, Kanye West’s words about former G.O.O.D. Music artists Big Sean and John Legend made the most noise online.

“The worst thing I’ve ever done is sign Big Sean,” said Kanye West. Earlier this year, reports came out claiming Big Sean did not receive proper compensation for his work with West’s label.

The Drink Champs conversation also included Kanye West mentioning his failed 2020 political campaign. Apparently, West is still upset that his longtime musical collaborators did not support his longshot bid to be the President of the United States.

“And both John Legend and Big Sean, when I ran for office, got used quick by the Democrats to come at their boy that actually changed their life and that’s some sellout s###. And I don’t rock with neither of them and I need my apologies,” stated Kanye West.

Big Sean Pushes Back On Ye Claiming He Was Used By Democrats

Following the release of Kanye West’s Drink Champs interview, Big Sean hopped on Twitter to offer a response. The What You Expect EP creator had a lot to say about his ex-mentor’s comments.

“I just got asked to be on the next Drink Champs so I’m assuming Ye [is talking] crazy 😂😂😂,” tweeted Big Sean on Thursday night. He later added, “Was just [with] this man, he ain’t say none of that!!! And this was after the interview! I’m dying laughing at you @kanyewest 😂.”

Big Sean also addressed Kanye West’s claim that he was used by the Democratic Party as a pawn. The Detroit-raised rapper added. “The Dems? No, I didn’t. I didn’t get used by anybody or endorse anyone publicly at all. Cause I’m not political. That’s what’s hilarious, none of it’s true [and] he doesn’t even know what he’s talking about. I’m rollin.😂.”

The latest developments in Kanye West and Big Sean’s ongoing fractured relationship came after Sean recently admitted he missed the G.O.O.D. Music brotherhood. Sean tweeted, “I don’t know what happened. Guess those [were] the GOOD ol’ days. It’s all love, but we use to really be clique’d up.”

J. Cole Admits “I’m Doing A lot Of Capping” On “100 Mil”

During his headlining performance at Rolling Loud New York, this weekend J. Cole revealed that the track “100 Mil” includes “a very big quantity of cap.”

“This next song, this next song contains a high level of… it’s a large amount… it’s a very big quantity of cap in this next song,” said Cole. “I ain’t gon’ lie, I’m doing a lot of capping in this next song, it’s a lot of exaggeration of the truth. But the spirit behind this song, the message behind this m############ song is 100% true.”

According to J. Cole, the cap is for motivational purposes only, to inspire the drive within listeners to go out and achieve, no matter how successful you are. “What this song is about is, it don’t matter how far you get in this life, how successful you become, how much money you make, don’t lose that hunger, drive, passion for that s### that got you there in the first place. New York City, don’t do it.”

The North Carolina rapper did not specify exactly which parts of the song he exaggerated. Perhaps Cole was just trying to give the IRS a heads up!

Kanye West Asked to Choose Between Jay-Z and Dame Dash On “Drink Champs”

Kanye West appeared on “Drink Champs” and gave a revealing interview to DJ EFN and N.O.R.E sharing details of his relationships both personal and private.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Drink Champs (@drinkchamps)

N.O.R.E asked Kanye to choose who is the better CEO between Roc-A-Fella co-founders, Jay-Z and Dame? After a brief pause, Kanye responded, “Absolutely 1000 percent Dame Dash.” He explained he chose Dame because he relates to his creative mind.

“Dame Dash the visionary, the original black hipster,” he said before adding, “I’m the devil’s worst nightmare – I’m Dash Dash with money.” N.O.R.E responded with nervous laughter and said “I don’t know how to take that one but continue.”

“I’m also Jay and Dame combined. That’s why I’m still here. Dame had,” he said before correcting himself to the present tense. “Dame has the vision. You see it.”

Kanye recalled a time where he said, “Steve Rifkind or something” said, “Dame is in Ye’s pockets.” Yeezy, offended, remarked “Eh, white boy don’t ever speak on me and Dame,” as the room erupted in laughter. Ye said that the record industry executive should refrain from speaking about his and Dame’s relationship. “Don’t ever speak on our situation, of me taking care of the man who put me on,” he said.

According to Kanye, he was the money maker at Roc-A-Fella: “Not everybody gone’ make the money. If you got a community, you got to have people who could figure out how to earn. I was Jay’s best earner. Any time he needed that beat boom.”

Though the relationship between Ye and Dame has seen some ups and downs since the Roc-A-Fella split, the fashion mogul stated that Dame can always rely on him. “Dame never have to work again, period. Anything he ever need. I’m here. The more and more money I’ve got, this is my family. I’m never gone’ let anyone speak on my relationship.”

This was Ye’s first interview since the release of his “DONDA” album and he had plenty to say. Kanye also spoke about why signing Big Sean was the worst thing he’s ever done, his relationship with estranged wife Kim Kardashian, and a lot more. Check out the interview in full below.

‘Wu-Tang: An American Saga’ Renewed For Third & Final Season On Hulu

Wu-Tang: An American Saga is coming back for one more season.

According to Variety and the Hollywood Reporter, Hulu has renewed the series for a third and final season. The renewal comes just a week after the second season’s finale.

Wu-Tang: An American Saga is a fictionalized drama about the Wu-Tang Clan. The show covers their origins, giving viewers a glimpse of the group’s lives before they became Hip Hop superstars.

The scripted series was created by Wu-Tang Clan co-founder RZA and writer Alex Tse. Method Man also serves as one of the show’s executive producers.

Hulu hasn’t released viewership data for Wu-Tang: An American Saga, but the series has received positive reviews. It currently has a 74 percent fresh critic score and 96 percent fresh audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Wu-Tang: An American Saga was picked up by Hulu in 2018 then debuted in 2019. No episode count for the third season has been revealed at this time, but the first two each featured 10 episodes.

The show’s cast includes Shameik Moore (who plays Raekwon), Ashton Sanders (who plays RZA) and Dave East (who plays Method Man). Joey Bada$$ portrayed Inspectah Deck in the first season but was replaced by Uyoata Udi.

Dame Dash Plans To Make ‘Paid In Full 2’ Following Alpo Martinez’s Death

Dame Dash is ready to make Paid In Full 2 in the aftermath of Alpo Martinez’s death.

Jay-Z’s former business partner told Page Six the murder of Alberto “Alpo” Martinez has provided a clear ending to his Paid In Full sequel. Dame Dash produced the original film, which was inspired by the lives of Martinez and fellow Harlem drug dealers Azie Faison and Rich Porter.

Paid In Full is a reflection of everything I’ve learned and I am really going to see it through now that there’s an ending,” Dame Dash said. “So, this is going to dramatically change based on what happened Sunday. I was stuck on how to really approach it and this is actually giving me more clarity.”

Martinez, who’d become infamous for snitching, was shot and killed in Harlem on October 31. He was released from prison in 2015 and had been in the witness protection program.

Cam’ron memorably portrayed Rico, a character based on Martinez, in 2002’s Paid In Full. Last year, the Dipset rapper confirmed he’d been involved in conversations about a sequel.

The sequel will be partly based on Crack Era, a memoir written by Harlem drug kingpin Kevin Chiles. Dame Dash noted he liked the way Chiles “broke down the mechanics and logistics of hustling.”

Paid In Full was a classic,” the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder explained to Page Six. “To even touch it again, I got to come better. So, the story got to be straight.”

Dame Dash added, “Everybody’s thinking it’s got to be tight, and based on the fact that I have creative control, I can do things the right way. S###’s going to be incredible.”

The 10th and final EP will be crafted by a producer chosen by fans. Mass Appeal hasn’t announced when that voting process is scheduled to begin at the time of publishing.

DJ Premier, Hit-Boy, Swizz Beatz and the rest of the producers’ EPs are being released by Mass Appeal as part of its distribution deal with The Orchard. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to charitable organizations, including the Universal Hip Hop Museum.

Joe Budden Has People Thinking He’s Bisexual – Here’s Why

Joe Budden became a trending topic on social media after people thought he came out as bisexual on his podcast.

A clip of the retired rapper saying he likes “guys and girls” on Episode 485 of the Joe Budden Podcast went viral on Thursday. The out-of-context footage quickly spread as Twitter and Instagram users assumed Joe Budden was honestly revealing he’s bisexual.

But the former Slaughterhouse member’s comment was made during a lengthy discussion about DaBaby and the LGBTQ+ community. Joe Budden and his co-hosts were upset over DaBaby allegedly having to get approval from an LGBTQ+ organization to perform at Rolling Loud New York.

“You can’t get on here and just say the truth,” Budden said. “You just gotta hope that there’s people out there that can read through things and see the truth.”

Co-host Ish then began reading a TMZ-sourced story, which claimed the CEO of Relationship Unleashed endorsed DaBaby performing at Rolling Loud New York. Gwendolyn D. Clemons, the CEO of the LGBTQ+ organization, accused TMZ of misrepresenting her remarks and asked for the article to be corrected or retracted.

Joe Budden and his co-hosts focused on the idea of DaBaby’s career being controlled by LGBTQ+ leaders, referring to the situation as “extortion.” This led to the widely misconstrued comment as the rapper-turned-podcaster joked about being bisexual to avoid the LGBTQ+ community’s wrath.

“How do I spread this news?” he asked. “How do I spread the word? Listen, I like guys and girls. Spread the word. I’m down. I’ve seen enough.”

Joe Budden and his cohorts continued to talk about their issues with how things played out for DaBaby. But all of that fell to the wayside on social media.

After Joe Budden supposedly coming out spread online, the onetime Def Jam artist took delight in his trolling. He reacted to people thinking he’s bisexual via Twitter.

“Ahhhhhhh, i see the word got out!!” he wrote. “Continue to spread the word pls.”

Listen to Joe Budden’s comments, which begin around the 51-minute mark, in the full context above. View some of the reactions he received on Instagram below.

R&B singer Rihanna is more than just a pretty face with an infectious voice. She is more than Jay-Z’s protégé or one of the coolest people in pop culture. She is more than the 250 million records that she sold worldwide or the Hip Hop’s Helen of Troy (run through the names of all the men who would kill to call her bae).

The billionaire is more than the world’s wealthiest female musician and the honorary title of Ambassador for Culture and Youth in Barbados. The 33-year-old is all that and then some, and included in this Hip Hop History Month celebration because she simply embodies the swag, essence, and hustle of the culture.

Will Smith Almost Killed His Abusive Dad

Will Smith considered killing his father to “avenge” his mother.

The actor recalled how his dad William Carol Smith, Sr. – who died of cancer in 2016 – was violent towards his mother, Caroline Bright, when he was growing up and admitted his father “terrorized” their family with his exacting standards, and he vowed to make him pay one day.

Will told how a shocking childhood incident between his parents “defined” who he is today.

In an extract from his memoir “Will,” he wrote: “My father was violent, but he was also at every game, play, and recital. He was an alcoholic, but he was sober at every premiere of every one of my movies.

“He listened to every record. He visited every studio. The same intense perfectionism that terrorized his family put food on the table every night of my life…

“When I was nine years old, I watched my father punch my mother in the side of the head so hard that she collapsed. I saw her spit blood. That moment in that bedroom, probably more than any other moment in my life, has defined who I am.”

Will Smith admitted the trauma has had an impact on his entire life and career as he put on a front to hide his true self.

“Within everything that I have done since then — the awards and accolades, the spotlights and attention, the characters and the laughs — there has been a subtle string of apologies to my mother for my inaction that day,” he continued. “For failing her in the moment. For failing to stand up to my father. For being a coward.

“What you have come to understand as ‘Will Smith,’ the alien-annihilating MC, the bigger-than-life movie star, is largely a construction – a carefully crafted and honed character – designed to protect myself. To hide myself from the world. To hide the coward.”

Although Will retained a good relationship with his dad after his parents separated when he was a teenager, he admitted his anger from the childhood violence resurfaced years later while he was caring for his cancer-stricken parent and he contemplated killing his father.

He wrote: “One night, as I delicately wheeled him from his bedroom toward the bathroom, a darkness arose within me. The path between the two rooms goes past the top of the stairs. As a child I’d always told myself that I would one day avenge my mother. That when I was big enough, when I was strong enough, when I was no longer a coward, I would slay him.

“I paused at the top of the stairs. I could shove him down, and easily get away with it. As the decades of pain, anger, and resentment coursed then receded, I shook my head and proceeded to wheel Daddio to the bathroom.”

Offset Has To Pay $950,000 For Missing Bentley

Offset has been ordered to pay $950,000 in a lawsuit over a missing Bentley.

Bosses at Platinum Transportation Group in Los Angeles took legal action against the Migos rapper over the disappearance of the luxury motor, which he rented last year.

According to legal documents, PTG executives claim they drew up a contract with Offset in May and rented him a 2020 Bentley Bentayga for a couple of days. This term was extended until late July.

But early that month, Offset told PTG he no longer had the car in his possession.

Company bosses also claim Offset stopped making payments on the car after his lease was up on July 25th, despite failing to return the vehicle, and filed a police report.

Now, a judge has signed off on damages of $950,027.35 , after PTG filed a default against the rapper.

A default usually means the defendant didn’t respond to the lawsuit, or challenge it in court, but it remains unclear why Offset allowed the case to go this way.

Terrace Martin created Drones collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Leon Bridges, Cordae, Ty Dolla $ign, Robert Glasper, YG, James Fauntleroy, D Smoke, Smino, Kim Burrell, Hit-Boy, and more.

“There are touches of R&B, touches of jazz, touches of hip-hop, touches of classical, Cuban music, West African music, house music,” says Terrace Martin.

The multi-instrumentalist continues, “You’re going to hear all elements of Black music within this record. It’s not one element I can leave out if I call myself a true Black artist.”

Listeners will get to hear Kendrick Lamar, Ty Dolla $ign, James Fauntleroy, and Snoop Dogg all on the same song. Those four established stars contributed to the Drones title track.

According to Terrace Martin, a philosophical conversation with Kendrick Lamar inspired the “Drones” song. Around a week after the release of Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly album in 2015, producer Martin spoke to K. Dot about growing desensitization and lack of compassion in modern society.

Terrace Martin played a pivotal role in the creation of the classic To Pimp a Butterfly. The 3-time Grammy nominee produced several tracks on the studio LP, including “King Kunta” and “Complexion (A Zulu Love)” featuring Rapsody.

In addition, Terrace Martin’s production discography includes work with Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli, Murs, Kurupt, DJ Quik, Jay Rock, Robert Glasper Experiment, YG, and other Hip Hop acts.

Martin also released full-length solo studio LPs such as 2012’s The 4 Luv Suite, 2013’s 3ChordFold, 2014’s Times, 2016’s Velvet Portraits. His catalog also contains several EPs, mixtapes, remix albums, and collaborative projects.

“Our organization stands on strong principles of being defenders of the LGBTQIA Community and nothing has changed. We will never normalize “trash TV or trash news stories!” Today we were ingulfed (sic) by the news outlet in a fire 🔥 we did not start! Our comments to a brief question was grossly misquoted and intentionally framed in a click baiting headline to drive traffic to TMZ. We have written and repeatedly spoke with the News Edit to retract, correct, or delete this erroneous story. As of this time some modifications have been made but not enough to our satisfaction. We vehemently deny this assertion and the reporting does not align with our values or mission. #RapperDababy #TMZerronousNews @gwenclemons @davinclemons

Gwendolyn D. Clemons, CEO of Relationship Unleashed, says that while traveling overseas, she received an email from TMZ a news producer asking her for remarks about DaBaby’s performance during his Rolling Loud NY over the weekend.

This would have been a scoop for them since last summer at another concert produced by the same promoters, DaBaby ran into trouble for spewing homophobic statements.

Clemons said she responded, but her statements were taken out of context to fit a narrative that she did not support.

TMZ first reported that her organization was [OK with DaBaby’s performance at Rolling Loud last week.}(https://allhiphop.com/news/lgbtq-organization-forgives-dababy-backs-the-rappers-nyc-performance/)

She says in an article on the organization’s media outlet, The Unleased Voice, that “90% of the information posted on TMZ website” regarding her emailed response was “completely false and that this article has the potential to cause irreputable harm to the organization.”

She further stated that when she called the producer to have it corrected/ retracted.

TMZ did post an update, expressing that Clemons believes that she was misquoted and posted a screenshot of her email to them.

The two seem to be splitting hairs.

One, the media outlet, is saying that she said: “she and her cohorts at the nonprofit approve of DB’s appearance at Rolling Loud NY last week — and any future concerts — as they feel he has learned a lot over the past few months.”

She said in her email something a little different.

Clemons wrote, “We believe that his lack of comprehensive understanding about these types of social issues was rooted in a place of miseducation and sheer ignorance. However, given the opportunity to go forward and do better we believe our objectives were highly effective and yes, he deserves to perform at Rolling Loud in NY.”

There is a difference, and she was misquoted.

She did not approve of his appearance but said that he deserved to perform at that one concert. Their addition of any future concerts was editorialized.

His deserving and their “approval” are not the same.

This story is developing.
