(AllHipHop News) Actor Jason Mitchell has been arrested in Mississippi on felony weapons and drug charges.
According to TMZ, the star was booked into Harrison County Jail on Wednesday and is facing two felony charges for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, plus two more felony charges for possession of a weapon by a felon.
His problems started when a cop stopped the actor’s GMC Yukon on Interstate-10.
A search of the SUV uncovered two pounds of weed packaged for distribution, and even worse, 1,300 dosages of MDMA. .
Mitchell, who played Eazy-E in the movie, was also busted with two guns, including a Glock 19 pistol and a mini Draco AK47 semi-automatic pistol, according to records obtained by the publication.
Further details of the arrest have yet to be revealed.
It comes following a tough time for the star, who last year was dropped from the cast of Netflix movie “Desperados” and lost his lead role in season three of TV drama “The Chi,” after he was accused of misconduct regarding his interactions with two female colleagues.
Mitchell has denied any wrongdoing and blamed misunderstandings for both incidents.
Elijah Blake is here to set the bar straight: getting the songwriter credit he deserves on Usher’s R&B smash “Climax.”
The whole ordeal stemmed from Variety’s The Weeknd cover story, where the XO recording artist insinuates he thinks 2012’s “Climax” was inspired by his critically-acclaimed mixtape House of Balloons.
the production on Climax lends itself to House of Balloons era @theweeknd. when I heard those early records they blew my mind – soulful in their silences, and a spacey iconic voice that felt uniquely internet. the idea of R&B having dark edges was what I wanted to bring to @usher
one of my favorite voices of all time. I'm glad @usher, Ariel, Eric, and I all got together to make that epic song. I remember I had the title of the song before I had the beat. It was conceptual from the beginning.
DJ, producer, and CEO Diplo, who co-produced the song alongside Ariel Rechtsaid, took to Twitter to confirm that the song’s production was indeed, thanks to The Weeknd’s unique sound. The Mad Decent founder then followed it with another tweet saying “I’m glad @usher, Ariel, Eric, and I all got together to make that epic song” — naming all those who were in the room while the record was made.
Elijah Blake had to stand up for himself, quote tweeting Diplo’s tweet and asking who was tweeting from his account. The Carribean singer-songwriter continued, “cause you just said Eric who is also my bro and did several on the album but wasn’t even in NY when we did that record .” It seems like an honest mistake that Diplo could have mistaken Eric Bellinger for Elijah, but Blake is convinced Diplo was trolling.
Elijah describes himself as a “big kid at heart,” which makes sense given his trolling with the whole ordeal. The singer-songwriter has written for everyone from Rihanna to Justin Bieber, and worked with artists like Rick Ross and The Game.
AllHipHop caught up with Elijah to discuss his initial reactions to Diplo’s tweet, and why he thinks Diplo was trolling.
AllHipHop: Let’s talk about “Climax.” Why did Diplo leave you out? Talk about Ariel for standing up for you.
Elijah Blake: Shout out to Ariel! Funny thing, Diplo is the homie too. I don’t know what the f##k that was. I don’t know if his publicist was trying to do damage control and got a hold of his passwords, or if it was management. Again, Diplo is my homie. But that tweet was as bizarre as me getting off this Live and saying “I just did this amazing Live with Whoopi Goldberg.” Huh? Drugs don’t even make you forget that way… what?
Hear ye Hear YE! PSA to the trolls… If you gon come on my page to “defend” ur Messiah… please keep in mind that I am both Caribbean & from Florida; home of the 2 most notorious roasters / professional Draggers. Do better or stay yo ass at home for the sake of Corona 🙄 pic.twitter.com/CMcpa4jmIz
Elijah Blake: I don’t think that was Diplo tweeting. When I responded to that, I was confused. Like I said on my Instagram, I felt The Weeknd was trolling a little bit with that comment. When he said we took his sound on “Climax” and he heard that song and said it was a Weeknd song, he can’t say that with a straight face. He was trolling a little bit, so I was trolling back. Some of his fans are still mad right now, but it’s all love. I’m not going to really tear down another black artist.
We’re all having fun. I’m really goofy, that’s my element. I play a lot. Everybody could look at it like “you went too far with it,” but it’s all fun. First of all, people don’t understand what goes into a song. The song came out February 2012. We don’t do songs today and it comes out tomorrow. There’s months, sometimes a year in between where you have to mix, master the song, send the song to the label for it to get on the calendar, get a radio plan, a release date. So just because you guys heard it in 2012, that’s not when it was created.
AllHipHop: When was it created?
Elijah Blake: I was in New York for at least 3 months in 2011. It was definitely created early 2011, late 2010.
AllHipHop: So you’re saying The Weeknd didn’t influence “Climax”?
Elijah Blake: Hell no! If he could say he felt like it was a Weeknd song, I think “he doesn’t really believe that.” So I’m going to troll back, that’s how I play. I’m from Florida. When people say “you’re so mean,” how can I bully a bunch of fans coming off my page to tell me I can’t speak my truth? Or me standing up for myself and what I know to be the truth, is me bullying y’all back? When ya’ll came here to cause some mess… but I’m with the s##ts.
AllHipHop: If I were you, I’d feel some type of way if I contributed to the song and didn’t get credited.
Elijah Blake: That’s how I know that wasn’t Diplo. I don’t care, it wasn’t. Whoever’s reading, you need to come tell people who’s really motherf##king tweeting. Because it was me, Diplo, Ariel. Whoever said “when me, Eric Bellinger, and Usher did that song,” what? Eric wasn’t even in New York when we did that song! That’s the telltale sign that whoever tweeted that wasn’t in that room.
AllHipHop: Eric wasn’t there at all?
Elijah Blake: No! Eric’s my homie, he did “Lemme See” on the album and a few other dope ones. That’s my brother. Even he was like “what the hell?”
AllHipHop: Do you think it’s because he initiated the #ClimaxChallenge?
Elijah Blake: Somebody initiating a challenge does not make you get amnesia, forget who was in the room when your whole tweet is based off of credibility on who started the song. Your whole tweet was who did this, so how could you conveniently forget who was in the room? When that’s really the whole premise of you going on Twitter to tweet that.
AllHipHop: Do you have a relationship with Diplo where you can hit him…?
Elijah Blake: That’s my homie. I don’t know if he’s going to text back now during quarantine, especially after what I tweeted back. I don’t take any of this too seriously, like people would lose their minds. I’m not some 12-year-old behind a keyboard, even though some of my trolling comments may come off kiddish and childish. [Laughs] But I was playing. I was having fun with it. I’m on quarantine, I’m bored as hell.
AllHipHop: Bring us back to the studio session, what was the energy like? Where was Usher at that point of his career?
Elijah Blake: I remember he was like “what are you doing here?” I looked around like “uhh, did ya’ll say I was supposed to be in the session?” He’s like “no, we came here to make history,” and I really think we did. So of course I’m going to defend a song that I was a part of, that came out at a time when everything was dance music. Everything was techno music, “put your hands in the air!”
Elijah Blake: We put out a record that was a slow song, but with real singing, high notes, and a ballad. Of course I’m going to defend that. If you came out today with the cure to Coronavirus, and someone else said “oh I found the cure a year ago,” you’re going to defend yourself. You don’t have to hate or disrespect, you just say “no, the facts are this.”
AllHipHop: Talk about being a real singer, it’s not easy to hit that falsetto. Especially “Climax”!
Elijah Blake: It’s not. Usher has been playing falsetto for years. I studied Usher’s falsetto, there’s not a male singer alive today that didn’t study Usher’s falsetto, or Maxwell’s, D’angelo’s, Prince’s. He’s one of the falsetto gods. Of course when I was in that studio hearing melodies, I was going to falsetto. When I hear Weeknd, I don’t think falsetto. That’s another thing that made me say, what about this song makes you think of you? I never heard The Weeknd “going nowhere fast, we reach the climax [Usher voice].” No! I think of “I can’t feel my face when I’m with you [Weeknd voice].” It’s no disrespect.
AllHipHop: But you can hear how it can be The Weeknd, given his voice and tone.
Elijah Blake: I don’t. Not being fake, I don’t hear it. I don’t hear him crooning like that.
AllHipHop: How was doing the challenge?
Elijah Blake: It was fun. It’s cool Eric tried to skew it in a positive way and make it fun. Now we’re doing this #ClimaxChallenge. Yesterday, I gave a whole day to trolling, trolling anybody back who came on my page. These little kids are not finna sit there and try to bully me, I’m from Florida. But now i’m bored with it. Anybody that came after that, I was having a whole block party. Block block block! [Laughs] I gave y’all 24 hours for the bulls##t. Ya’ll think I’m waking up everyday talking about this, you got me f##ked up. Y’all take that over there! I had fun. I got other s##t to do.
AllHipHop: Someone said you bodied the challenge.
Elijah Blake: Thank you. We’re still waiting on The Weeknd to do his.
AllHipHop: Do you think he will?
Elijah Blake: He’s not going to do it. See, I’m playing. Someone’s like “how dare you go in on another black man?” It’s not even that deep, honestly. There are songs of his that I absolutely love. I love “I feel it coming, I feel it coming… [Weeknd voice].” You’re about to get a whooping acting crazy like this, if your parents walk in and see what you’re tweeting and how you’re acting…
No longer the mystery woman, Trey Songz has finally revealed the first photos of his son’s mother. Despite still being nameless, “Noah’s Mumma,” as Trey writes in the photo caption, appears to be happy as they celebrate Noah’s first birthday.
While the personal choice is his to make on keeping her identity as lowkey as possible, he does express his gratitude for the mother of his child: “I’m obsessed; we did that, YOU did that!”
If you recall, in May of 2019, Songz confirmed the birth of his son just three months after his breakup with Lori Harvey. We all remember how messy that situation was..
But it seems things are working out.
A private life is a happy life, right? Even as fans bombarded his social feeds inquiring about who she was when the pregnancy was first announced – also exposing the infidelity that occurred with former gf, Lori Harvey – Trey always dodged the question. “Noah’s mom and you don’t have sh*t to talk about. And the rest of y’all either mind ya f*ckin’ business,” he once commented.
It’s no wonder he disabled the comments on this particular set of photos..
(AllHipHop News) Nick Cannon hopes he has put an end to his public spat with Eminem after exchanging a string of diss tracks late last year.
The pair’s feud began in 2009 when Eminem mentioned Nick and his then-wife Mariah Carey in a negative way on his track “Bagpipes From Baghdad,” with Carey responding later that year with her song “Obsessed.”
Speaking to Billboard, the star insisted Eminem “knows better” than to continue the war of words, before insisting: “If he keeps talking about me, I’m gonna keep talking back.”
The “Masked Singer” host continued: “You gotta remember, I was defending myself once again. He keeps bringing it up for decades. I’m one of those cats that matches energy. I don’t do it – I overdo it.”
Despite their clashes, Cannon insisted he respects Eminem’s work, and views him as a standout performer in his genre, adding: “If you’ve ever heard me speak on this matter. I always give that dude his props as an icon in hip-hop.”
He also elaborated on past remarks he made linking Eminem to institutional racism, saying: “When you come from a culture that was built by a community that didn’t have something of their own, and when someone comes in and shines in that medium and takes it to the masses… There’s nothing wrong with it, but you gotta accept it for what it is.”

(AllHipHop News) Juice Wrld’s mother has set up a fund to help young people facing mental health issues, in the wake of her rapper son’s accidental overdose last year.
Carmela Wallace announced on Wednesday that she is launching the Live Free 999 fund, which will support programs that help youths with addiction issues, anxiety, and depression.
She’s hoping that in setting up the fund, she can help honor the legacy her son, real name Jarad Higgins, left behind.
“Young people around the world were truly touched by Jarad’s music because he spoke to issues and situations in his music that resonated with them so deeply,” she said in a statement.
“I was aware of his struggles with addiction, anxiety, and depression; we had many conversations about his challenges with these issues. I know he truly wanted to be free from the demons that tormented him. I made the decision upon his death that I was going to share his struggles with the world with the objective of helping others.”
She concluded: “It is my desire to help those who are hurting by providing access to education, prevention, and treatment for opioid and other forms of drug addiction. It is my hope that Live Free 999 will help people just as Jarad’s music has and will continue to touch lives for years to come.”
The fund will receive extra support from Grade A and Interscope Records.

(AllHipHop News) Tekashi 6ix9ine may have some problems because the guy accused of kidnapping him is angling for bail.
Anthony “Harv” Ellison is currently awaiting sentencing after he was found guilty of kidnapping 6ix9ine at gunpoint during an internal feud between the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, over control of the direction of the rap star’s career.
Ellison is using the same argument as 6ix9ine.
The gangster claims his life-long battle with asthma has put him at a heightened risk of catching the coronavirus inside of the MCC prison in Manhattan, where he is currently being held.
“Anthony Ellison is a ‘vulnerable individual’ He suffers from an asthmatic condition. During his incarceration at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC), the Bureau of Prisons has provided him with two inhalers to aid him with his asthmatic conditions. Given the outbreak of COVID-19 at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC), Anthony’s health and welfare is in great peril,” Ellison’s lawyer Deveraux Cannick wrote.
Since then, Ellison has been busy educating himself inside of the prison.
Ellison has completed numerous self-help programs, including an anger management class, and one on music appreciation.
According to prison officials, Anthony Ellison has also been instrumental in keeping the peace on his tier, by mediating disputes between inmates before they turn into violent conflicts.
Ellison even received a glowing letter of support from his counselor inside of MCC.
For these reasons, Ellison is asking a judge to release him on $200,000 bail, into the custody of his mother, who happens to be an NYPD police officer.
Judge Paul Engelmayer has yet to rule. However, Ellison may have his work cut out for him.
Just last week, Faheem “Crippy” Walter asked Judge Engelmayer for compassionate release from the Metropolitan Correctional Center, but Judge Engelmayer shot that request down.

(AllHipHop News) The self-described “Trap Lord” is back with brand new visuals. Darold “A$AP Ferg” Ferguson Jr. connected with Hidji to direct a new cinematic clip for the HighDefRazjah-produced song “Value.”
“Look at me now! The ‘Value’ video shows the progression of my people,” explains A$AP Ferg. “It starts with imagery of slaves, whips, and chains. People of today drive whips (as in cars) and wear chains (as in jewelry). My grandmother recites a poem in the intro of the video speaking on our ancestry and the oppression we went through.”
The A$AP Mob member continues, “The video shows we are still going through those problems, but ‘look at me now’ is also a chant showing how many of us strived to overcome many of the limitations put in front of us. Me making it out of the hood as a big rapper and living in a mansion with art on the walls shows how far we can go.”
Ferg is preparing to release more music throughout 2020. He has also spent the last several weeks bringing awareness to the COVID-19 outbreak by hosting an Instagram Live Q&A with Dr. Sampson Davis and joining Revolt’s “The State of Black America & Coronavirus” virtual town hall.

(AllHipHop News) The current coronavirus pandemic is affecting all aspects of American society including incarcerated individuals. Meek Mill and Michael Rubin’s REFORM Alliance is working to help protect people in jails and prisons across the country.
REFORM Alliance announced that it has now partnered with Madonna’s Ray of Light Foundation and Cash Warren’s Pair of Thieves as well as The Bail Project, The Dosberg Fund, Operation LIPSTICK, and #cut50 to send an additional 100,000 surgical masks to select correctional facilities.
“More than 2 million lives in prisons across America are currently at stake due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” says REFORM co-chair Michael Rubin. “It’s absolutely crucial that we protect our inmates and prison staff, especially since social distancing guidelines are difficult to abide by in these facilities.”
Rubin continues, “REFORM remains committed to protecting one of our nation’s most vulnerable populations, many of whom are currently incarcerated for technical probation violations (not committing a crime), and we’re grateful for the support of our partners in this endeavor.”
50,000 masks will be delivered to the Cook County Jail and the Illinois Department of Corrections. Plus, 20,000 masks will be delivered to the Louisiana Department of Corrections. The remaining 30,000 masks will be distributed between Vacaville Prison in California, FCI Ray Brook in New York, and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department in Massachusetts.
“Helping others has always been part of our DNA at Pair of Thieves,” said Pair of Thieves founder Cash Warren. “So when the team from REFORM outlined how quickly COVID-19 has spread amongst the incarcerated and those who work in and around prisons, we knew we had to help.”
This latest 100,000 shipment of surgical masks is the REFORM’s second such donation this year. Last month, the criminal justice reform organization sent over 100,000 masks to Rikers Island, the Tennessee Department of Corrections, and the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, Mississippi.
“Our response to this crisis will be judged by how we protect our most vulnerable citizens,” says REFORM co-founder Michael Novogratz. “That includes those who are incarcerated, their lives matter too, and we need to start acting like it.”
REFORM Alliance’s founding partners include Philadephia emcee Meek Mill; Philadelphia 76ers partner/Fanatics Executive Chairman Michael Rubin, Hip Hop mogul Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, Kraft Group CEP/New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Brooklyn Nets co-owner Clara Wu Tsai, Third Point LLC CEO/founder Daniel S. Loeb, Galaxy Digital CEO/founder Michael E. Novogratz, Vista Equity Partners founder/chairman/CEO Robert F. Smith, and Arnold Ventures co-founder Laura Arnold. (AllHipHop News) Will Smith has landed a Snapchat exclusive with America’s coronavirus tsar Dr. Anthony Fauci.
The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases agreed to sit down with the movie star and discuss the ongoing pandemic to clear up some myths about COVID-19 for kids.
Smith launched his 12-episode series, “Will From Home,” on Snapchat earlier this month, and has so far hooked up with stars like Tyra Banks and members of the public who are also staying home due to social distancing guidelines.
The “Men in Black” star will ask Dr. Fauci questions about the coronavirus he has received from kids.
“There’s been a predominance in the African-American community. Is there a comprehension as to why that is?” he asks the medical expert in a teaser clip, prompting Fauci to respond, “It’s just one of the failings of our society… African-Americans have a disproportionate prevalence and incidence of the very co-morbid conditions that put you at high risk.”
Meanwhile, one sweet young fan, called Ava, asked Fauci if the tooth fairy could catch the coronavirus, prompting the doctor to assure her that she didn’t need to worry about such things.
Another fan also asked Fauci if she could go out for a walk.
And there was a real lift for viewers as one teen user asked Fauci if COVID-19 was something she’d be fighting for the rest of her life.
“When we have a vaccine and we have enough baseline immunity, this is not something you’re gonna have to worry about for the rest of your life,” he explained.
Will From Home airs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays on Snapchat.
(AllHipHop News) Kanye West’s charitable collaboration with Chic-fil-A has helped provide 300,000 meals to the needy in Los Angeles.
The hip-hop superstar namechecked the fast-food firm in his 2019 track “Closed On Sunday,” and partnered with them to help Christian non-profit the Los Angeles Dream Center provide food and other items to those in need since March.
According to Fox News, Dream Center founder Matthew Barnett thanked Kanye and the firm for helping him and his team provide around 11,000 meals a day since first receiving donations – transforming the organization into a hub for those in financial difficulty due to COVID-19.
“The Los Angeles Dream Center has transformed into the Grand Central Station of food distribution and other basic essentials,” he told Fox in a statement. “I’m so grateful that our team has stayed healthy, and that we’ve found a safe way to meet the urgent needs within our community.
“I can’t say thank you enough to the various donors who’ve made this a reality. This is what a neighborhood, a community, and a church should always look like.”
The “Jesus Walks” rapper has also made donations to the We Women Empowered charity in his native Chicago, Illinois.
(AllHipHop News) When you think of Washington DC nowadays, you think of Capitol Hill more so than Chocolate City.
You think of nasty tweets from politicians who should know better than its signature Go-Go music. You think of poorly learned educations on bureaucracy than that which Thurgood Marshall received at Howard University.
But thanks to people like the Grammy Award-nominated multiplatinum rapper Shy Glizzy, your minds might think warmly about The District.
Last Friday, he donated $10,000 to Martha’s Table to help bolster community area relief efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
There are so many impacted by this disease, his effort surely will make a difference to the mission of Martha’s Table.
The work with families (parents to the children) in efforts to build community.
Glizzy not only put his money up, but has issued a challenge to others in his circle to do the same. Especially with an organization that is doing the work.
According to a media alert about the organization, the nonprofit recently launched “a multi-pronged strategy to ensure underserved community members maintained access to financial resources and necessary groceries amidst the outbreak.”
They have provided put money in people’s pockets as well as groceries in over people’s fridges (4,000 bags of produce, protein and practical things to get households through these times).
Food insecurity in DC is crazy normally, so during the pandemic access to food, health care and just a little bit of money to survive is a challenge.
Martha’s Table doubled down on its response, extending its emergency support through Saturday
April 25 to help families and neighbors navigate the crisis. Each week, in partnership with local organizations and government officials, Martha’s Table plans to distribute up to 6,750 bags of groceries through public food access sites, all at no cost.
(AllHipHop News) The Grammy Award-nominated Post Malone doesn’t consider himself a Hip-Hop artist. We claim him because that is what we do as a community, but for him, he transcends being a rapper. He is an artist — a pop star even — molded by the diverse culture that birthed him.
Thusly, his upcoming performance of Nirvana on his official YouTube channel will allow him to live out a childhood fantasy.
On Friday, April 24th at 3 pm PT/ 6 pm ET, he will rock out-loud singing songs like “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “ Lithium,” and “Heart-Shaped Box” in his living rooms for his fans to enjoy.
People that tune in will be flies on the wall as he gets his entire live, but also raise money for The United Nations Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for The World Health Organization (WHO) in support of COVID-19 relief efforts.
Fans will be able to make donations to the UN Foundation in real-time during the live-stream event by using the “DONATE” button on the top right-hand side of the screen. Google.org will be matching all donations at a 2:1 rate, up to $5M, with all proceeds going to the UN Foundation.
Led by Kurt Cobain, Nirvana was a pivotal rock band in the 90s that led the grunge movement.
In a lot of ways, it mirrored the rise of the West Coast rap scene; heralding sex, drugs, and music~ Post might not want to be a rapper, but that rapper energy (though he would say is not honest) he just can’t escape.
