Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Damn’ Spends 200 Weeks On The Billboard 200 Album Chart

West Coast emcee Kendrick Lamar now has two different studio albums that have remained on the Billboard 200 chart for at least 200 weeks. DAMN joined Good Kid, M.A.A.D City as LPs by the Top Dawg Entertainment representative to cross that commercial milestone.

According to Chart Data, DAMN reached its 200th week on the latest Billboard 200. Lamar’s Pulitzer Prize-winning opus was originally released in 2017 where it opened at #1 with 603,000 first-week units. It spent a total of four weeks at the summit, won a Grammy for Best Rap Album, earned 3x-Platinum certification by the RIAA, and was named the top-selling album of that year.

DAMN hosts the singles “Loyalty” featuring Rihanna, “Love” featuring Zacari, and “Humble.” The latter record became Lamar’s first solo song and his first song as a lead artist to hit #1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. “Humble” went on to win Grammy Awards for Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video.

Mike Will Made-It, Sounwave, Hit-Boy, DJ Dahi, T-Minus, Just Blaze, Scoop DeVille, The Alchemist, 9th Wonder, and others provided the production for DAMN. All 14 tracks from the album made it onto the Hot 100 rankings.

Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, Kendrick Lamar’s major-label debut studio LP, has spent more than 400 weeks on the Billboard 200 since its release in 2012. Eminem’s Curtain Call: The Hits and Drake’s Take Care are the only Hip Hop albums to remain on that chart for at least 400 weeks.

Megan Thee Stallion, NLE Choppa & 21 Savage Albums Earn Gold Plaques

The Recording Industry Association of America announced numerous albums were awarded new certifications in the month of January and the early days of February 2021. For example, projects by Megan Thee Stallion and NLE Choppa picked up RIAA Gold plaques last month.

Megan’s Good News crossed the 500,000 unit mark. The self-described Houston Hottie dropped her debut studio album in November 2020 with contributions from DaBaby, City Girls, Lil Durk, SZA, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, Beyoncé, Young Thug, Popcaan, and Mustard.

Memphis rhymer NLE Choppa also recently picked up a Gold plaque from the RIAA. His Top Shotta LP came out in August 2020. The Warner Records release featured guest appearances by Mulatto, Roddy Ricch, Chief Keef, and Lil Baby.

On February 8, the RIAA certified 21 Savage and Metro Boomin’s Savage Mode II as a Gold album. The Atlanta-bred rapper and the St. Louis-bred producer let loose their collaborative sequel in October 2020. Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman narrates the project which includes features by Drake, Young Thug, and Young Nudy.

In addition, Kanye West and Kid Cudi’s 2018 joint effort Kids See Ghosts was certified Gold on January 29. R&B vocalist Jhené Aiko secured her first Platinum album when 2020’s Chilombo was certified moving over 1 million units on January 11. Michael Jackson’s 1979 classic Off The Wall inched closer to Diamond status by breaking the 9x-Platinum barrier on February 2.

Meek Mill Responds To Wack 100’s Comments About 6ix9ine Incident

Over the weekend, large sections of social media were engrossed in conversations about a nearly violent incident outside a club in Atlanta. Video footage shows Meek Mill’s entourage and Tekashi 6ix9ine’s entourage nearly coming to blows.

Initially, Meek took to Twitter to address the reports about his public confrontation with the internet troll-turned rapper-turned-federal government witness. He claimed 6ix9ine and law enforcement were trying to set him up.

The Philadelphia emcee tweeted, “The headline should be: he waited outside a restaurant and popped up with the cops recording with his phone out! He tried to line me up to go to jail!”

Wack 100 was one of the internet users that decided to share his thoughts on the incident. He called out Meek on his Instagram page for not fighting 6ix9ine that night.

The well-known business associate of The Game, Ray-J, and Blueface also uploaded a 9-minute video where he talked about the situation. Wack posted on IG:

@safaree was chased down right #SelectivePoliticing -I keep it real. If any man I gotta issue with approached me in a threatening way you will be attacked. Your team against mine if that’s the set up. Either way it’s suppose to be smoke. #RattsUp1 – Fact YOU GOT PULLED UP ON —— DONT GRAB THE CAMERA BALL YA FIST UP OR GRAB THE PEACE MAKER —-

Meek answered Wack with a now-deleted Instagram post that included audio of Wack supposedly talking badly about one of his friends. The IG caption read:

This is @wack100 talking behind his “blood homie” back to me when he supposed to be smoke! Never believe this old manipulator. He really pusssy and will have you crash to protect hisself… It’s sad you out here tryna mislead the youngins on the net… You run up on me if you wanna set a example! You biting your homie back out to opps while it’s on, LOL. You were excited from that Nip situation IDK how they let you rock in LA… I think you a Fed also! Didn’t you just get shot off the net? LOL #Wack100Exposed I love going at you fake bullies…”

The Game and Meek Mill have had beef in the past over the issue of “snitching” in connection to a robbery involving Sean Kingston. As Game’s manager, Wack 100 supposedly worked to quell the bad blood between his client and Meek in 2016, but things appeared to get rocky again three years later when Wack stated that the late Nipsey Hussle was not a Hip Hop legend which led to Meek publicly pushing back against Wack’s comments about Nipsey.

Yella Beezy Addresses Being Arrested On Weapons Charge

According to multiple reports, Markies Conway was arrested in Dallas on Saturday. The rapper, better known as Yella Beezy, was taken into custody for unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Local police booked Beezy after allegedly finding multiple firearms during a traffic stop. He was taken to a Dallas County facility without incident. Bail was set at $1,000.

Police made the stop because Beezy apparently ran a stop sign, then the cops insisted they smelled marijuana in his vehicle. However, Beezy says he doesn’t smoke weed. No illegal drugs were discovered.

In a report by TMZ, Beezy’s team believes he was being harassed by the officers that pulled over his bullet-proof truck. Representatives for the 29-year-old Texas native said the weapons were registered.

Yella Beezy addressed his interaction with the cops on his Instagram Story. The “That’s On Me” performer wrote, “It be ya own kind that do you the dirtiest that what be so crazy to me! And I’m speaking on the crooked police!”

CyHi Says Somebody Tried To Murder Him, Causing Horrific Accident

I didn’t think that CyHi The Prynce had so much drama around his life but it seems that he does. The rapper, who was one time signed to Kanye West, found himself in our near death situation in his native Atlanta.

In a very lengthy post on Instagram, the rapper let everyone in his orbit know that there was an attempt made on his life. This proclamation brought a lot of attention to his Instagram, and a lot of concern for his well-being. I am glad to see CyHi was not killed. I am not fully aware of the extent of his injuries, if there were any. But I am glad to know that he is still around.

As you will see below, somebody shot up his vehicle and then forced him off the road causing a terrible car crash. It does not appear that any other car was involved in the crash. CyHi does not implicate anyone in the murder attempt, but only states that Atlanta is not the city of love, or Wakanda, as others have put it. I am not sure why I am thinking this, But maybe it was a case of mistaken identity. I know that CyHi has deep roots in the street as well as the music industry but I can’t imagine him having this much bad will in the world.

He’s one hell of a lyricist and I believe to be a good person. Still, haters will hate. Will give you more of this as it develops but this is the low down right now, as of Valentine’s Day.

Today is a day about love, but in my city (the city of Atlanta) there’s no love here anymore. a couple nights ago there was an attempt on my life… somebody tried to gun me down on the highway. I tried everything I could do to lose them, but they were adament about taking me off this earth.
They where shooting at me while I was driving and even after my car flipped, hit a pole and crashed into a tree, they came back and shot the car up some more. At this point I don’t know if it was a mistaken identity, a robbery, or associated with something that I did when I was younger but I haven’t been in the streets in over a decade. I just want to know why and if there is anything I can do to fix the issue. I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, and I have tremendous love for my city … but it’s chaotic out here. I’m trying my best to keep a level head, but when you dont know who is after you its hard to wrap your mind around it and not be paranoid. By the grace of god and my lord and savior jesus christ I am still here. I just want to let the people know who were trying to kill me that i am not a bad person. I don’t want revenge, I just want understanding and closure. So everyone  that’s in Atlanta right now, please protect yourself, stay out the way and be careful, because it could all be over in a split second. I understand there’s a lot of beef going on in my city between different crews, that is fueled by the music…but it is time that we all have a sit down and have a peace meeting.
There are to many lives being lost over music. I know I’m not the king of my city or nothing, but the real leaders (i won’t say no names, but you guys know who you are) you all are extremely blessed to have the the careers that you have and be able to feed your family and loved ones. It’s time to stop the violence in Atlanta. I don’t have all the answers and I definitely don’t have the power to make it stop, but i do feel like somebody gotta step up and say something. So much love to every artist, label, hustler, and crew in my city pleaseee lets resolve our problems man. We don’t have to kill each other man. SMH thanks again, Atlanta. I wrote this letter to y’all with tears in my eyes.

I hope Wack 100 does not say anything.

By the way, if you didn’t see…this happened before V-Day.

Wack 100 Scolds Meek Mill Over Tekashi69 Back-N-Forth

“If you worried about the consequences of beef, stop beefing.” – Wack 100

Wack 100! Wack 100 is one of the most impactful figures in Hip-Hop these days. He doesn’t bite his tongue for anything. When a pair of card-carrying racists attacked him in the streets, he defended himself vigorously and left one of them leaking. He also happens to manage The Game and some other artists on the West Coast.

Meek Mill And Tekashi 69 Almost Come To Blows

He is becoming more like the modern-day Suge Knight than anything else, but he has clearly carved out his own lane with his vocal tone. Today was no different. As we all were entertained by the fiasco known as Meek Mill and Tekashi69, Wack was going in a completely different direction. And I have to say, he made a lot of sense. The Los Angeles Don, affiliated with the Piru Bloods, basically said if you’re not gonna beef, stop beefing.

He said a lot more in this video, check it out. I’ll continue afterwards.

What do you think about what he said?

I am NOT gonna lie, I appreciate the candor. More than that, I appreciate that he reacquaint everybody with the rules, which have been askew thanks to social media and a lot of big capping. Tekashi69 has fundamentally changed the landscape of Hip-Hop, making it almost cool to snitch to certain sections of the population. Me, I am not a street dude but I am certainly not a snitch either. All I can say, is that Meek Mill needs to stay away from that guy unless he’s going to fight him. Maybe that’s what they need to do, get in the ring and fight because, based on their boxing skills, they look about evenly matched. That, I would pay for!

Tory Lanez Feat. Melii & Lil Wayne – New Music Video “Big Tipper”

Tory Lanez just dropped the music video for his strip club anthem banger “Big Tipper.” Filmed in Miami and directed by Christian Breslauer & Josh “Midjordan” Farias. The song features new industry favorite Melii and long-time collaborator Lil Wayne. “Big Tipper” is a track off Lanez’s recently released rap capsule, “Loner” which came out in December of last year.

The “Loner” capsule comes on the heels of Lanez’s full length album Daystar which reached #4 on Billboard U.S Rap and Hip Hop/R&B Billboard charts. It also soared to #10 on the U.S. Billboard 200.

Melii, who is featured on “Big Tipper,” is a 23-year-old-Afro-Latina singer, songwriter and rapper from Harlem whose unique sound is catching fire throughout the industry. She has been co-signed by everyone from Billie Eilish to Rihanna, had her single “Icey” chosen for Beyonce’s 2021 Adidas x Icy Park commercial and is currently promoting her own single “You Ain’t Worth It” featuring 6lack. On her Big Tipper verse Melii confidently spits:

He could barely believe it, you’d think that s### was Ripley’s

If he hitting me, he ain’t dipping out, ain’t quick to leave

He had to back up, ain’t no Colin Kaepernick, he took a knee

Took the G5 straight to VLive

I done made it out the city like Diddy I’m screen-sized

Commenting on the feature opportunity she had with the two male rappers Melii said, “It’s surreal to be on a song with Lil Wayne. I went hard on my verse because I had two incredible lyricists on a track I needed to match.”

Lanez and Melii previously collaborated on the hit song “Slow For Me” back in July 2019 and have remained friends over the years. Youtuber and Boxer Jake Paul makes a cameo in the music video flaunting his wealth while driving a forklift.

Lil Wayne’s appearance on the video set of “Big Tipper” fell exactly one day after he was pardoned by former president Donald Trump for a firearm conviction. Wayne and Lanez have appeared on previous songs together including “Help,” “Thoughts” and “Talk To Me” (Remix).

More recently they collaborated with DaBaby on the multi-platinum streaming Jack Harlow hit “What’s Poppin'” (Remix)” which reached #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Charts for two consecutive weeks. The remix was nominated for the Collaboration Song of 2020 award at the 46th People’s Choice Awards.

“Big Tipper” and the rest of Lanez’s “Loner” capsule is available on all major streaming platforms. Along with Melii and Lil Wayne, the capsule also features Quavo, Tyga, Swae Lee, and Rich the Kid.

Tory Lanez currently boasts over 18 million monthly Spotify listeners and over 1.6 billion cumulative Youtube views. The controversial rapper who is preparing his forthcoming R&B capsule “Playboy” clearly has no intent on slowing down anytime soon.

22Gz Explains CJ Beef – AND Tekashi 69, Pop Smoke, Sniper Gang, Nick Blixky’s death + More

Brooklyn has always been a hot spot for Hip-Hop talent and controversy, but that ante has been upped with the new drill music scene blowing up over the past few years. It’s been as lucrative as it has been dangerous. AllHipHop corespondent Slops sits down with one of the forefathers of Brooklyn Drill. 22Gz talks about how the music developed locally and much more.

Looking at his face you couldn’t but this young man – 23 years old – has already become a seasoned vet in the game with his debut single “Suburbans” blowing up nearly 5 years ago. “Nah the opps was dropping they heat so I just wanted to comeback with my own and wanted it to sound different” he explains about how the cult classic came together.

And then there’s beef.

He claims not to know most of the people that have issues with him and his Blixky team, and how he created a lot of things he doesn’t get any credit for. Enter: CJ. He decided to take shots at CJ, the newly famous, white-hot Staten Island rapper. Utilizing the same beat from CJ’s smash hit “Whoopty,” 22 addresses how he felt slighted. “I reached out to boy and he aint respond after using my sh#t” he explains.

Moreover, 22 discusses how he seeks to avoid another 6ix9ine situation happening again in the culture. Shrouded in controversy, the Sniper Gang artist looks to just make hits in the future, which seems like. lofty goal. The death of Nick Blixky forced him to step back and focus. The BlixkyTape 2 is coming soon.

Check out the chat with 22Gz and Slops.

Flash Gottii

Flash Gottii
Flash Gottii

Flash Gottii is a man with undeniable energy. His goal is to bring a lot of energy with his music, which comes to light on stage when he performs at Made In America or as an opening act for Trippie Redd. Beyond that he’s an extremely persistent person, who refuses to give up on anything he does.

Under management with Wack 100 who manages Blueface and signed to eOne, Flash plans to become the biggest artist this industry has ever seen. With the versatility to sing, rap, and hold a melody, you can hardly box him into any one category. He says so himself, “I don’t want to be in one genre of music, I want to be in all genres.”

At the core, Flash just loves to make music and have fun — two essential parts of the job description.

Nicki Minaj Dad Killed, Homicide Investigation Underway

Nicki Minaj’s family has suffered an awful tragedy, with the death of her father.

Nicki’s father Robert Maraj was hit by a car when he was walking in Mineola, New York.

Nassau County police told TMZ.com that Robert was walking on Roslyn Road near Raff Avenue on Friday (February 12th) around 6:00 p.m. Unfortunately, Robert, 64, was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound, which fled the scene of the crime.

Nicki’s dad was taken to the local hospital, where doctors tried to save his life, but unfortunately, he died over the weekend.

Now, the accident is a homicide investigation and police are asking for witnesses to come forward to help identify the driver of the vehicle that killed Nicki Minaj’s dad.

The rap star’s relationship with her dad was volatile at times. In April of 2012, Nicki publicly accused her father of being an alcoholic and drug user, who abused her mom.

Her dad, also known as Omar, denied the allegations, and confessed he was devastated by the claims, because he loved his daughter. Thankfully, it appears their relationship was back on track, in pictures taken after he comments taken in 2012.

Meek Mill And Tekashi 69 Almost Come To Blows

Valentine’s Day started oddly as Meek Mill and Tekashi 69 nearly came to blows in Miami.

Meek Mill claims that the internet troll-like rapper stalked him in an attempt to go viral. Both men had their phones out during the confrontation and each posted their individual views from the situation.

“Why 69 just run up on me wit a bunch of cops so I spit on him,” Meek wrote on Twitter. “I thought I was dreaming…he waited outside for me with the feds wtf. They did all this to go viral. Leave me alone rat.”

“69 waited out side the club for me. they tryna get ussssss wtf. We did not run into each other. I was getting in my car he just popped out….we almost was smoking on that 69 pack for the love of a viral moment. He tryna to get something locked up no cap.”

In the videos, 6ix9ine yelled at Meek behind a wall of security guards who separated both men. Meek apparently managed to spit on his adversary.

Tekashi countered, “STOP LETTING THESE RAPPERS LIE TO YOU! THEY TO TOUGH FOR SECURITY @meekmill RUNNING AROUND WITH POLICE.”

Meek maintains Tekashi 69, who testified against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods to receive a reduced sentence, is still working for the Feds.

“Back to back in these [Rolls-Royce] Cullinans and s### this n#### trying to run up on me and get me locked up,” Meek Mill said. “Why you pick me? What did we do to you 69? Why the f### you trying to take me out the street p####?”

Tekashi 69 and Meek Mill may have legit beef. Meek has consistently labeled 69 a rat for his cooperation with the government to bring down the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods’ top leaders.

In addition to working with Nicki Minaj on “FEFE,” Tekashi 69 also landed a collaboration with her on his “comeback” song “Trollz.”

In June of 2020, Tekashi 69 launched an online attack on Meek Mill and labeled him as a hypocrite for his business association with Roc Nation executive Desiree Perez.  Tekashi 69 called Meek a hypocrite for working with Perez, since she cooperated with a federal investigation to break up a major drug ring.

In January, President Donald Trump officially pardoned Desiree Perez.  “Meek Mill, you can’t pick and choose who you want to call rats. This is public information sir. Ever since Nicki left you you are a nobody…”

But as Meek stated, Tekashi 69 could be just looking for attention. Earlier this week Tekashi 69 previewed a new song where he boasts: “I shot and robbed all these rappers in real life… No cap… The Feds charged me for that… A whole f###### case…”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CLFVx5eHk_-/

Tekashi 69, born Daniel Hernandez, remains on federal probation for starring in a sex video with a 13-year-old, and should not be involved in potentially violent interactions in any form.

In 2019, the Brooklyn rapper copped to nine federal felonies including racketeering conspiracy, firearms charges, narcotics trafficking, other violent crimes and then cut a remarkable deal with feds in exchange for his freedom.

AllHipHop EXCLUSIVE: Feds Move To Seize Casanova And Gorilla Stone’s Assets In New Indictment With More Charges

The Feds just unveiled a new superseding indictment against Brooklyn rapper Casanova and the United Gorilla Stone Nation.

In December of 2020, Casanova and 17 members of the United Gorilla Stone Nation were charged in a 16-count racketeering indictment for murder, narcotics, and firearms offenses.

Yesterday (February 12th), the Feds unsealed a new superseding indictment, which added five new racketeering charges against the gang.

Authorities revealed they have also arrested a new defendant named Donovan Hillard, aka “Donnie Love.”

A grand jury has charged Donnie Love with aggravated identity theft.

Prosecutors maintain Donnie Love used fake IDs and stolen social security numbers to file fraudulent applications for COVID-19 related unemployment benefits.

Prosecutors also added two counts of attempted murder and assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering, over a shooting in Miami involving Casanova, that left a rival gang member hospitalized.

David Crisler Jr. AKA Jayecee, has been indicted and charged with shooting a Crip in October of 2020, after the gang member mouthed off to Casanova in front of a strip club.

Prosecutors say Casanova was allegedly flashing gang signs in front of a strip club as he celebrated his birthday. When the Crip tried to check Casanova, Jayecee started shooting.

AllHipHop EXCLUSIVE: Casanova’s Lawyer Addresses Double Shooting; Says Rapper Being Unfairly Targeted In Motion For Bond

Two people had to be airlifted to a local hospital, where they both recovered from their injuries.

But text messages seized by the Feds caught Jayecee bragging about the shooting and admitting he was defending Casanova, who has not been charged over the shooting.

Both Jayecee and Donnie Love have also been indicted for firearms trafficking conspiracy. The Feds claim the pair were selling guns around New York and elsewhere, throughout 2020.

In another legal move, the Feds are also attempting to squeeze the Unite Gorilla Stone Nation’s finances.

Prosecutors are asking a judge to seize property or contractual rights of any kind, and proceeds obtained directly and indirectly from the racketeering activity alleged in the indictment.

This includes any assets that cannot be located, have been transferred, sold to, or deposited with a third person.

In late January, a judge ruled Casanova was a flight risk, and simply too dangerous to be released from the Westchester County Jail, where he is awaiting trial for racketeering with the United Gorilla Stone Nation.

The next hearing in the case is slated for May.

Production on “Rap Sh*t” is supposed to start this summer.

Rapper Sent To Emergency Room After Using Gorilla Glue To Stick A Red Party Cup On His Lip

Gorilla Glue’s stock is either shooting through the ceiling or totally tanking.

For the last two weeks, the adhesive brand has been in the news after a 40-year-old woman, Tessica Brown, used the product as a substitute for her hair goop.

Now, an aspiring rapper from Louisiana is suffering the same plight — after mocking her ordeal by taking the #GorillaGlueChallenge.

Len Martin revealed on social media that he did the sticky challenge to prove that Tessica was exaggerating her crisis after she went viral and gained almost 1 million followers on Instagram.

To Lee Martin’s dismay, she wasn’t capping and now he is left with a gluey-dewy ripped up lip!

Instead of putting the glue on his head, Martin videotaped himself attaching a plastic red cup to his lip, which he thought he would simply come off.

The stunt sent him to the emergency room, where the doctors had to remove the cup, which produced a “painful peeling.”

DUH. Son … he gorilla-glued a red party cup to his lip … was he drunk?

“I thought she was just playing around cause I didn’t think it was that serious, that Gorilla Glue would actually do all of that you know?” Lee Martin told WKBN 27. “I actually tried it a couple of times before, it never really worked for me for anything, like using actually it on things. That’s when I was like okay well “she’s lying,” and you know all these challenges going on, so I said I’m going to go ahead and try it you know and it went backwards.”

Currently, Lee Martin is waiting to see if his lip will heal naturally or if he will require surgery.

Gorilla Glue released a statement to the public about messing around with their product.

“Our spray adhesive states in the warning label, ‘Do not swallow, do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing…’ It is used for craft, home, auto, or office projects to mount things to surfaces such as paper, cardboard, wood, laminate, and fabric,” Gorilla Glue said in a statement.

Maybe they are not clear enough and need to spell it out even more.

Big Sean Selling Breathtaking Mansion With A Club Inside For $12.5 Million

Big Sean is doing “BIG THINGS.”

The Detroit rapper has recently put his Malibu mansion up for sale.

According to Realtor.com, his Mediterranean-styled property is just breathtaking and is going out for $12.5 million.

Picture this: The 11,000 square feet residence has a two-story entry, formal living room, and dining room, seven bedrooms, seven and a half bathrooms, a family room with a wet bar, a chef’s kitchen with dual marble islands, and a 13-seat theater area.

He even has a recording studio and a nightclub … you know … the average rich dude stuff.

More luxurious living can be seen in another very interesting feature of this house. It has staff quarters. One might ask, “well what is that?” That’s where the maids, butlers, and other workers go to kick it.

The “I Don’t F—k With You” rapper’s place also has a spa bath, fireplace, a dressing room, a library, a two-car garage, and a half-acre lot that is right near the Pacific Ocean.

It doesn’t stop there.

Big Sean’s backyard is the epitome of luxury with a resort-style backyard with an outdoor living room, fireplace, a pool, another spa, and views of the canyon and city.

Big Sean renovated the house and increased its value after buying it in 2017 for $8.7 million, from Guns N’ Roses singer, Slash.

Kangol Kid From UTFO Launching New Dating Reality Show “Fairytale Lover”

When you look back on the legacy of Hip-Hop, it is clear to see that Drake’s lover boy persona was influenced by artists like LL Cool J and Kangol Kid from UTFO.

When the song, “Roxanne, Roxanne” dropped, everyone knows it birthed the career of Roxanne Shanté and so many other Roxanne.

But the success of the classic Hip-Hop song also sent the girls “gaga” over Doctor Ice, the Educated Rapper, and Shaun Shiller Fequiere aka the Kangol Kid.

The girls rewound that tape to hear him rap and sing UTFO hits like “Ya Cold Wanna Be With Me,” and their classic R&B song, “Fairytale Lover.”

The ladies would simply lay back and daydream that the Brooklyn native was directing his lovesick broken-heart toward them. Kangol was for all practical purposes, the early 80’s Drake.

Now that fans have a little background on Kangol, one can see how his new reality show is set to shake some stuff up, like the “Flavor of Love” did almost 20 years ago.

More like “The Bachelor,” this show is titled and based on his hit song, “Fairytale Lover.” Kangol Kid sat with Chuck Creekmur from AllHipHop and broke down the show.

“UTFO…we had that hit in the mid-80s called ‘Fairytale Lover.’ We’re the first rap group to have an R&B ballad. And so that name is fitting,” Kangol Kid told AllHipHop.com.

“What we’re doing is making sure that fans have an opportunity to have a moment with their ‘Fairytale Lover,’” Kangol Kid continued. “I’m sure everyone out there who’s hearing me and seeing me right now has had a ‘Fairytale Lover.’”

Starting on Valentine’s Day (February 14th), ladies looking for a shot at living a real-life fairytale can participate by uploading a video to their own social media account, using the hashtag “FairytaleloverTV.”

Hopefuls can also DM videos to @FairytaleloverTV and casting agents will review the submissions.

“There is someone that you’ve seen on television that you’ve said, ‘I’d love to have an opportunity to meet that individual and hang out and party’ and who knows what else could happen with this person. And that was your ‘Fairytale Lover.’ This show will be exactly that,” Kangol Kid continued.

Season 1’s grand-prize winner will get the chance to meet Kangol Kid. In subsequent seasons, Kangol is looking to bring in his celebrity friends like Big Daddy, Ralph Tresvant, Al B. Sure!, CeCe Peniston, Cindy from EnVogue, and others, who will go on dates with lucky fans.

“You will win a day in the life of that ‘Fairytale Lover.’ It’s work for me, but it’d be fun for y’all. We’re walking down that red carpet, where paparazzi’s taking photos of us,” Kangol Kid told AllHipHop.com. “The outfit that you’re wearing is sponsored by that famous brand or designer. Maybe Fashion Nova will probably step in and bless you with whatever it is you want, for these events. Rubbing elbows with my celebrity friends. So we want to make what I do for a living, which is a fairy tale to y’all, we want to make your fairy tale come true. So that’s basically what the show is about.”

Now… tell us he ain’t no Hip-Hop Prince Charming!

RZA Amazed At T.I.’s Acting Skills

Rapper-turned-director RZA was in awe of T.I.’s acting skills after casting him in his Netflix film, “Cut Throat City.”

The “Whatever You Like” hitmaker has been honing his on-camera talents in recent years on TV shows like “House of Lies” and “Single Ladies,” and movies such as Marvel’s “Ant-Man” franchise and “Dolemite Is My Name.”

RZA was truly impressed by what he saw after originally approaching his Wu-Tang Clan bandmate Method Man for the role of drug lord Lorenzo ‘Cousin’ Bass.

“He totally shocked me and blew my mind,” RZA told syndicated columnist Allison Kugel, revealing T.I. was a late addition to the cast of the action heist movie.

“I had been developing the film for five years, and I always wanted Method Man to play the role of Cousin, but he told me he wasn’t into the bad guy roles right now.”

Another actor who made quite the impression on RZA was Kat Graham, who also boarded the project at late notice.

“I got lucky to get Kat,” he confessed about “The Vampire Diaries” star. “We had developed her role for another actress who became unavailable about two weeks before we were shooting. Then our agent said that Kat Graham read the script and was interested, and would I be interested to talk with her? We did a FaceTime and she said exactly what I needed to hear.”

“Kat Graham really shows that it’s not just beauty in her, but it’s her strength and expression,” he gushed of her portrayal as the main protagonist’s wife, who steps up to help her man as they become embroiled in criminal activity.

“I’m glad that she became the anchor of that family, and she did it beautifully,” RZA added. “She could have played it pretty and sexy. Even though she was beautiful on screen, it was natural. She was strong to go and fight for her man.”

“Cut Throat City” also features Ethan Hawke, Wesley Snipes, Terrence Howard, Isaiah Washington, and Shameik Moore.
