Lil Durk Wins His First Grammy

Earlier this week, Lil Durk won his first-ever Grammy Award at the 2024 ceremony. He and J. Cole received the Best Rap Performance Grammy for “All My Life.” Durk won over his new touring partner Drake, who was nominated alongside 21 Savage for their hit “Spin Bout U.”

Although late, Lil Durk eventually collected his Grammy at the Crypto.com Arena. While on the red carpet, he revealed he’s already got his sights set on a “few” future collaborations, which he hopes will see him win even more Grammys next year.

“I got to go see Beyoncé one day,” he shared. “That mean I’ll be back.”

In another interview, he teased a joint project with country music star Morgan Wallen. “It’s gonna be a collab album soon,” Lil Durk said. “So that means I’ll see you again next year.”

Meanwhile, J. Cole couldn’t collect his award with Lil Durk as he was on tour with Drake who issued a PSA about the award show after losing all four nominations.

“All you incredible artists remember this show isn’t the facts — it’s just the opinion of a group of people whose names are kept a secret. Literally. You can Google it,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.

“Congrats to anybody winning anything for Hip Hop, but this show doesn’t dictate s### in our world,” he added. Drake also shared his Best Rap Song acceptance speech from the 2019 Grammys.

On Monday (February 5) Killer Mike confirmed rumors that “overzealous” security led to his arrest.

“As you can imagine, there was a lot going on,” he explained to TMZ. There was some confusion around which door my team and I should enter. We experienced an over-zealous security guard but my team and I have the upmost confidence that I will ultimately be cleared of all wrongdoing.”

Sources at the scene claimed security refused to let Killer Mike backstage, and one of the guards apparently disrespected him despite him using one of the Grammy Awards as his credentials.

Video footage surfaced online shortly after the incident. Security can be seen chasing Killer Mike before his arrest and detention. According to reports, he was booked for misdemeanor battery following a citizen’s arrest.

Meanwhile, Killer Mike flew back to Georgia after receiving exciting news about his son. He learned the year-old was finally getting a kidney transplant after being on the waitlist for more than two years.

“What sticks out to me the most has nothing to do with last night,” Killer Mike told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I woke up to a phone call that my son who’s been waiting on the kidney for the last two and a half years is on way to his hospital right now to get surgery, to get the kidney.”

Days after announcing her historic new deal with Warner Music, Megan Thee Stallion recalled the struggles she faced with “Hiss” and its predecessor, “Cobra,” while in the midst of her legal battle with her former label, 1501 Certified Entertainment.

“Y’all know I was going through it at a point in life, and I couldn’t put out music,’ she explained. “I didn’t have nobody backing me. I couldn’t do anything. There was no labels paying for my s###.”

Megan Thee Stallion said paying for her upcoming project was the first time she felt financially responsible since her mother passed away.

“When I say I went in Megan Pete bank account and paid for ‘Cobra’ and ‘Hiss,’” she continued. “Them two videos, my whole studio time for this album that’s about to come out, like all of that s### came out of my pocket. This was my first time since my mama been alive that I really carried the weight of paying for my whole s###.”

She added, “I really hope y’all know how much of the trenches we was in!”

Megan Thee Stallion Keeps Promise To Fans

Megan Thee Stallion then seemingly took a shot at Nicki Minaj while fulfilling her promise to drink Hennesey through a straw if “Hiss” topped the chart.

“Your flow is such a bore/Drinkin’ a bottle of Henny through a straw,” Minaj raps on her Meg diss “Big Foot.”

“We ‘bout to put the straw in the Hennessy!” Megan yelled while on live before twerking for the camera with the bottle in her hand.

The 25-year-old rapper announced her pregnancy last October while on her Hood Hottest Princess Tour. Sexyy Red continued performing on the road until the tour wrapped in late November.

“Touring was stressful at first because nobody knew I was pregnant,” she told Billboard in January. “I’d be in the bedroom trying to suck my stomach in or wear clothes to show I wasn’t. It hurt to just be onstage all day holding your stomach. It’s hard to hide it.”

Sexyy Red continued, “Being pregnant is stressful; it wears your body down. I was tired, but I tried to hide it as much as you possibly could. I like to have a personal life. I’m already famous or whatever, so everything be out there. I be trying to have something to myself that I could keep. Just go home and be with my son and my family. That’s the reason I was hiding.”

Sexyy Redd has yet to reveal the gender of the baby and is keeping the father’s identity a secret. She shared a maternity photoshoot featuring the father last year, although she blurred his face.

Usher will perform at the Super Bowl’s halftime show on February 11 and aims to honor Black musical legacy with his appearance.

“To have R&B have the main stage at the Super Bowl is a major thing for me,” he told Good Morning America. “I think about what our country has represented for Black artists, having to, at some point, go through kitchens to even be able to perform for an audience. They had to leave back through that same door, you know, fearing for their lives as they went to the next state to do the same thing. So I’m coming through the front door with this one.”

JAY-Z Hosted Lil Uzi Vert, Quavo & More At Grammy’s Pre-Party Amid Roc Nation Brunch Flop

JAY-Z still managed to arrange a gathering of the industry’s elite stars for Grammy weekend, despite the cancelation of the annual Roc Nation brunch.

On Friday (February 2), JAY-Z and Lil Uzi Vert were among the stars visibly seen exiting the exclusive West Hollywood club The Bird Streets, where the party took place. However, according to TMZ, Kim and Khloé Kardashian and Odell Beckham Jr. were among the other celebs in attendance. Additional attendees reportedly included Karrueche Tran, Quavo, Corey Gamble and HOV’s close associate OG Juan.

Upon exiting the club, JAY-Z parted ways with Uzi and signed autographs before dashing off in a black Tesla Model X.

The apparent last-minute gathering follows the cancelation of the Roc Nation brunch the day before the 66th Grammy Awards. This marks the third date missed date in the history of the brunch, which started in 2011 and returned last year after taking a two-year COVID-19 pandemic hiatus.

G Herbo Sheds Tears Discussing His Success Following Lil Greg’s Death

G Herbo tearfully addressed the trauma he’s undergone in the three years since the murder of his close associate Lil Greg during a recent interview.

On Sunday (February 4), Herbo appeared in an exclusive podcast episode with the father of the deceased, Big Greg, via his YouTube channel titled “What The World Doesn’t Know About My Child.” During the conversation, which ran over an hour and some change, Herbo and Big Greg navigated a number of topics including the death of Lil Greg and it’s affect on the Chicago rapper.

“I’m able to comfortably sleep at night and know it’s not my fault but I’mma sometimes feel like it’s my fault because I can’t live life—nothing I do,” he said. “If I win a Grammy, an Oscar, I’mma think about my lil brother, gang I ain’t gone lie to you.”

Jam Master Jay Trial: Drug Dealer Helps Prosecutors Connect Dots To Alleged Killers

Ralph Mullgrav, a convicted drug dealer, confirmed he refused to work with one of Jam Master Jay’s alleged killers in the late DJ’s murder trial on Monday (February 5). Mullgrav provided details that supported the prosecution’s case, which claimed the killers were motivated by greed and revenge.

Prosecutors said Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington murdered Jam Master Jay for cutting the two out of a lucrative drug deal. The Run-DMC member allegedly sought Mullgrav’s help to distribute 10 kilos of cocaine in Baltimore in August 2002.

According to Mullgrav, Jam Master Jay planned for Washington to be involved in the distribution. Mullgrav balked at working with Washington, who’s also known as Tinard.

“[Jam Master Jay] wanted me to work with Tinard,” Mullgrav testified, per the Associated Press. “I told him no.”

The witness referred to Washington as a “problem.” Mullgrav admitted he wanted to shoot Washington in the past.

Mullgrav said Jam Master Jay, whose real name was Jason Mizell, typically enlisted the drug dealer to sell “maybe 1 or 2 kilos, here or there.” But Mullgrav downplayed the Run-DMC DJ’s involvement in the drug trade.

“Jason wasn’t a drug dealer,” Mullgrav told jurors. “He just used it to make ends meet.”

Mullgrav served 12 years in prison for a federal drug conviction. He was released in 2013.

The Jam Master Jay murder trial began in January. Uriel Rincon, an eyewitness who was wounded in the 2002 shooting, identified Jordan as the gunman. Rincon said Washington stood by the door and ordered another witness to get on the ground during the attack.

Jordan and Washington pleaded not guilty to murder charges. They face at least 20 years in prison if convicted.

A third man, Jay Bryant, was also charged for his alleged role in the murder. He will be tried separately.

Killer Mike & His Family Receive Major Blessing After 2024 Grammys Arrest

Killer Mike won three awards at the 2024 Grammys, but his family got something much more important on Monday (February 5). The Run the Jewels member learned his 21-year-old son was finally getting a kidney transplant after being on the waitlist for more than two years.

Killer Mike was still in California when he received the exciting update about his son. He flew back to Georgia to be with his family for the surgery.

The 2024 Grammys turned out to be a chaotic event for Killer Mike, who went from winning awards to getting escorted out of the building in handcuffs. He was detained over an alleged physical altercation, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Killer Mike was booked for misdemeanor battery. He was released on zero bail. The 48-year-old rapper did not want to discuss his run-in with the law, instead focusing on the positives regarding his son and the Grammys.

“Man, ain’t nobody talking about all that mess,” he told the AJC. “I walked out with three Grammys. I took beautiful pictures, man. I got the job done and it was a beautiful time. I swept an entire category yesterday. That’s what I got to say about it.”

Killer Mike won the Grammy for Best Rap Album for his acclaimed project Michael. He secured the awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for his track “Scientists & Engineers,” which featured André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane.

Lil Durk Plots Morgan Wallen Collab Album Following Grammy Win

Lil Durk envisioned winning another Grammy Award next year after winning his first one on Sunday (February 4). The Chicago-bred rapper teased a collaborative album with country music star Morgan Wallen in an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the 2024 Grammys.

“It’s gonna be a collab album soon,” Lil Durk said. “So that means I’ll see you again next year.”

The Alamo Records artist previously worked with Wallen on the songs “Broadway Girls” and “Stand By Me.” Lil Durk developed a friendship with Wallen, defending the controversial singer after Wallen was caught using a racial slur on a video in 2021.

“Nah, he ain’t no racist,” Lil Durk said of Wallen in a 2022 interview with TMZ. “That’s my boy. Also, we had a long talk. He had his public situation. We had it behind closed doors. I vouch for him and he’s good. He ain’t canceled. I talked to him. When I say you ain’t canceled, you ain’t canceled.”

Lil Durk reiterated his support for Wallen in 2023. The multi-platinum-selling rapper said Walled opened his “mind to a different view of life” in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

“I went and talked to him to see what was up with [the video],” he said. “When I hung out with him, it was totally the opposite. He was nowhere near racist. That’s my dawg. I took my own risk to show the world that he isn’t that.”

Lil Durk won the Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance at Sunday’s ceremony. He secured his first Grammy for the J. Cole collaboration “All My Life,” which appeared on last year’s Almost Healed album. Durkio and J. Cole won in a field that included Drake, 21 Savage, Doja Cat, SZA and Burna Boy.

21 Savage Demands Answers After Playboi Carti Allegedly Received $2M For Adin Ross Stream

Playboi Carti’s bizarre appearance on an Adin Ross livestream made 21 Savage raise questions due to Carti’s alleged compensation. 21 Savage asked why he wasn’t paid for his recent appearance on Ross’ streaming channel after finding out Carti was supposedly paid $2 million on Monday (February 5).

21 Savage called Ross during a livestream and their conversation quickly turned to Carti. Ross was initially hesitant to discuss what happened over the phone before explaining it at the behest of his viewers.

“Carti came on today, OK,” Ross said. “He came, he was like two hours late. And I got him some money because [livestreaming service] Kick wanted to f### with him and s###. He came for six minutes, nodded his head like five times and then left.”

21 Savage said he would watch what happened and call Ross back. The Slaughter Gang rapper called back after learning about the alleged $2 million payment, which Ross denied paying.

“Bro, $2 million, bro,” 21 Savage said. “Bro, why the f### you ain’t pay me? That’s crazy, bro. I ain’t gon’ lie, bro. I ain’t gon’ lie, bro, that’s f##### up. Bruh, $2 million for six minutes, bro? Bro, you paid for six minutes. I just seen you give him a bag of cash. We gotta have a talk when I see you, bro. I’m not gon’ lie, bro.”

21 Savage previously upset Ross’ fans, who accused him of cheating the streamer out of money in a card game. The Epic Records artist capitalized on the allegations by selling dice and playing cards on his online store.

Ross told 21 Savage the audience forgave the rapper following the debacle with Carti. The Billboard chart-topper encouraged Ross to tell viewers the dice and playing cards sold out. Both items are scheduled to ship on April 26.

Meek Mill Blasts Grammy Awards, Praises Grammy Winners Killer Mike & Lil Durk

Meek Mill is the latest recording artist to criticize the annual award show presented by The Recording Academy. The 36-year-old rapper shared numerous tweets about the 2024 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 4).

“I don’t f### with the [Grammys],” Meek Mill wrote. “I [always] have big Grammy parties and have the heaviest business and biggest entertainments with us at the night because we actually have real influence on the culture!”

Killer Mike took home three awards at the 2024 Grammy ceremony. His sixth solo studio LP, Michael, won Best Rap Album. “Scientists & Engineers” featuring André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane won Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. In addition, law enforcement officials detained Killer Mike at the show on a reported misdemeanor battery charge.

“Propaganda at an all-time high too,” Meek Mill added. “I love Killer Mike, big inspiration to me! He [needs] more awards for the things he does for the culture! But getting 3 [Grammys] and getting arrested immediately after insanity… they award giving timing is very off to me 🤔!”

The Philadelphia native then tweeted, “To arrest Killer Mike immediately after the [Grammys] propaganda… A lot of people are questioning the decision making and bases of the award choosing in the Gen Z era… their timing to award Black men be totally off!”

Meek Mill Also Wants The Winners To Be Celebrated

Additionally, Meek Mill questioned if Rod Wave received any Grammy nominations this year. Wave did not pick up any recognition from the Recording Academy in 2024. However, his chart-topping Nostalgia album came out after the Grammy’s deadline of August 31, 2023.

Lil Durk and J. Cole’s “All My Life” won Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Meek Mill also mentioned the Chicago rapper’s first career Grammy triumph during his social media rant.

“Durk deserves every award he gets, lost real family to this game and been on the grind since Lil Snupe… L’A Capone… [RondoNumbaNine] days and was making his way like a 12-year process!” posted Meek in response to Lil Durk’s Best Melodic Rap Performance victory.

After a critic suggested artists like Meek only complain about the Grammys when the Recording Acadamy honors other acts, the Dream Chasers frontman responded, “I’m totally fine with the process for others, it’s a great marketing tool… I’m [a part] of the rebel society to help advance our culture, this one not my pick, never been… but let the winners be celebrated all love.”

Meek Mill has two career Grammy Award nominations. Championships earned a Best Rap Album nod at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards in 2020, losing to Igor by Tyler, the Creator. Meek’s contribution to H.E.R.’s Back of My Mind put his name in the 2022’s Album Of The Year category. Jon Batiste’s We Are album won that year.

JT Reacts To Getting Called Out For Promoting Nicki Minaj More Than Her Own Music

Many supporters of Nicki Minaj, including City Girls member JT, expressed frustrations about this year’s Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy once again shut out Minaj from winning any trophies.

To add insult to injury, the Recording Academy’s X account accidentally tweeted that Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” won Best Rap Song. Killer Mike officially took home the honor for “Scientists & Engineers” featuring André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane.

“I salute Nicki Minaj for not tapping out & still dropping music knowing it’s so many odds against her! It’s big money to end Nicki but it’s a BIGGER God! Keep being you! Your legacy will never be undone!!!! @NICKIMINAJ, I love you,” JT posted on Sunday (February 4) in response to the Grammys’ mistake.

JT has been an outspoken Nicki Minaj backer. Her alliance with the Queens-bred MC reportedly played a role in her fallout with Minaj’s longtime rival, Cardi B. That alleged proxy war led to Cardi’s fans constantly calling JT a “lapdog” for Nicki Minaj.

For example, one social media user called out JT for tweeting about the “Super Freaky Girl” rapper’s Grammy snub instead of talking up her own recently released “Sideways” single. The @ThottSummers account commented, “If only you promoted yourself this much.”

The Miami-raised rhymer responded, “Babe, all my tweets are about my music, my thumbs hurt from tweeting about it. I took a break to speak on what [matters] to me, I see what matters to you. ME.” As of press time, “Sideways” racked up 322,000 streams on Spotify in its first three days of release. It failed to make it onto Spotify’s Daily Top 200 Songs rankings in the United States.

Lil Durk Wins First Grammy Award For “All My Life” Featuring J. Cole

Lil Durk has added his name to the long list of rappers to win a Grammy Award. The Almost Healed album creator picked up his first win at the 66th annual ceremony on Sunday (February 4).

“All My Life” featuring J. Cole won the 2024 Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance. Lil Durk’s single beat “Sittin’ on Top of the World” by Burna Boy, “Attention” by Doja Cat, “Spin Bout U” by Drake & 21 Savage and “Low” by SZA.

Previously, Durk received three nominations. His appearance on Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” scored him nods for 2021’s Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance. The Chicago native also earned an Album Of The Year nomination for his work on Kanye West’s Donda in 2022.

With “All My Life” winning Best Melodic Rap Performance this year, J. Cole now has two Grammy Awards. The Dreamville Records co-founder won his first Grammy in 2020 as a guest feature on 21 Savage’s “a lot” single. That collaboration was named Best Rap Song.

“All My Life” became Lil Durk’s biggest commercial hit as a lead artist. The Dr. Luke-produced track peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In addition, “All My Life” spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.

The Recording Industry Association of America certified “All My Life” as 2x-platinum in November 2023. Durk’s song collected over 289 million Spotify streams. The Steve Cannon-directed official music video amassed more than 168 million views on YouTube.

Soulja Boy Apologizes For Insulting Chrisean Rock’s Baby

Soulja Boy has been feuding with Blueface for months. Their beef included Soulja taking shots at Blueface’s on-again, off-again girlfriend Chrisean Rock and her newborn child.

Last week, Soulja Boy referred to Chrisean Rock’s son as “retarded” and suggested the baby had Down syndrome. Those remarks led to online backlash aimed at the rapper for making fun of a baby.

The “Turn My Swag On” hitmaker has now addressed the negative comments directed his way. He went on social media to offer a lukewarm apology to Chrisean.

Soulja Boy Says The Beef Should Stay Between Him & Blueface

“I just feel like a n#### was talking about my kids first. They ain’t gonna apologize to me for talking about my son. But I just feel like that ain’t in my character,” Soulja Boy explained.

In addition, Soulja stated, “Chrisean, I want to apologize to you but since your homie was talking crazy about my son, I had to talk crazy about his son. I know he wouldn’t apologize to my baby mama for lying and talking crazy, so I would say that I’m sorry that you got caught in the middle of it. We should leave that between me and him.”

Despite saying he wanted to apologize to the reality show star, Soulja Boy later downplayed his admission of regret. He also said, “I’m gonna be the bigger man because I’m just too viral, I’m too pretty. It’s not an apology, it’s just an understanding.”

Stephen A. Smith Compares Reactions To Will Smith’s Oscar Slap & Killer Mike’s Grammy Arrest

Killer Mike became one of the big winners of Grammy night on Sunday (February 4). The Atlanta-raised MC won three golden gramophones at the ceremony.

However, Killer Mike (born Michael Render) also made headlines after Los Angeles police officers detained him at the Grammy Awards. Authorities reportedly booked the Michael album creator on a misdemeanor.

Stephen A. Smith took issue with how law enforcement officials treated Killer Mike compared to a fellow award-winning entertainer. Will Smith remained at the 2022 Academy Awards after smacking Chris Rock in the face during that show.

“Yea, I’m looking forward to @FirstTake in the AM, but that ain’t on my mind right now,” Stephen A. Smith tweeted around 12:15 am ET on Monday (February 5).

The ESPN personality also added, “Riddle me this: How in the Hell does Killer Mike get taken from the Grammy’s in HANDCUFFS for an ‘alleged Crime’ but Will Smith gets to accept his speech AND party — with no arrest — after committing one on Nat’l TV???”

Stephen A. Smith Questions Why Authorities Ruined Killer Mike’s Evening

Will Smith did not face any charges following the Chris Rock incident. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences banned the actor from the Oscars for 10 years. Stephen A. Smith had more to say about the comparisons between Will Smith’s infamous slap and Killer Mike’s arrest.

“To be clear, I am not advocating that Will should’ve gotten arrested. But that happened in LA, too,” Smith posted on the X (formerly Twitter) social media platform.

He continued, “So if Will could be left alone, how come they couldn’t wait until AFTER the Grammy’s to deal with Killer Mike? Why ruin his evening over an alleged misdemeanor but leave Will alone over a flagrant assault??? What’s different?”

Killer Mike won the Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance Grammy Awards for “Scientists & Engineers” featuring André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane. The Run The Jewels member’s solo LP, Michael, also scored a victory for Best Rap Album.

Jay-Z Slams Grammys Over Beyoncé Never Winning Album Of The Year

Jay-Z didn’t hold back at the 2024 Grammy Awards, using his acceptance speech to address the fact that Beyoncé has never won Album of the Year.

The Hip-Hop mogul was honored with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, celebrating his achievements in music. Hov took to the stage alongside his 12-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.

He joked about not being able to sustain his Grammys boycott and aired out his grievances with the Recording Academy, including snubbing his wife for the top prize.

“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won album of the year,” Jay-Z said, referencing Beyoncé making history in 2023. “So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys; never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.”

Beyoncé has more Grammy Awards than any other artist, with 32 of the coveted golden gramophones. Meanwhile, Jay-Z’s 24 wins tie him with Kanye West as the rapper with the most Grammy wins in history.

Jay-Z Addresses Grammys Boycott

During his speech, Jay-Z recalled, “how far we’ve come from Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff winning their first Grammy in ’89 and boycotting because it wasn’t televised.

“It wasn’t a great boycott,” he added, noting they returned to their hotel to watch the ceremony before admitting he later followed in their footsteps.

“But then ’98, I took a page out of their book. I was nominated for Best Rap Album, and DMX had dropped two albums that year. They both were number one — shout out to DMX — and he wasn’t nominated at all. So I boycotted and I watched the Grammys.”

He concluded by saying, “We love y’all. We want y’all to get it right. At least get it close to right.”

Hov felt certain Beyoncé’s Renaissance would win the coveted category on her fourth nomination because of the project’s impact. “Look what it’s done to the culture,” he told Elliott Wilson in February last year.

Anthony Anderson’s On-Set Scuffle: One Chair, Two Goons & A Hospital Visit

Anthony Anderson was recently hospitalized after suffering an injury on the set of his new movie G20. The actor underwent a series of scans and X-rays after getting injured in a fight on the set of the action thriller in Cape Town, South Africa.

“I spent the night in the emergency room,” he wrote on Instagram beside a photo of himself on a gurney. “Movie set fight gone wrong. Me against two goons and a chair! Guess who didn’t win! Who needs a stuntman? Me that’s who! I’m not as young as I used to be!”

Revealing the results, Anderson assured fans that “nothing (is) fractured or broken in my back” and he had just suffered “a deep contusion. In his trademark humor, the 53-year-old also joked that the chair “will never be the same” following the stunt.

When he returned to set, Anderson posted a picture of the chair that “whooped (his) ass” and revealed more details about the accident.

“Something about it is menacing! It sucker punched me in the kidneys and back with no mercy! When I got on set today it was grinning at me! Little does he know I got something for that ass! He gone learn today!” he quipped.

G20 is a thriller about terrorists taking over the G20 summit. It also stars Viola Davis, Antony Starr and Clark Gregg.

Killer Mike’s Grammy Night: From Triumph To Arrest Over Alleged Altercation With Security

Killer Mike’s triumph during the 2024 Grammy Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday (February 4) ended on a sour note after the celebrated rapper and activist found himself under arrest shortly after achieving a momentous career milestone.

The MC had just swept the rap category when he was whisked away in handcuffs. The incident, captured in viral social media videos, showed Killer Mike being escorted through the lobby with his hands cuffed behind his back as onlookers and fans voiced their support, some calling for his freedom.

The circumstances of his arrest were initially unclear, contributing to a whirlwind of speculation and concern among fans and fellow artists alike.

Sources who were present said the arrest was due to an altercation with security. An overzealous guard refused to let Killer Mike to a backstage area because he didn’t have his credentials. Mike showed him one of the three Grammy Awards he scooped up, but the guard was unmoved and apparently disrespected Killer Mike.

The source said Killer Mike smacked the security guard, which resulted in him being handcuffed and arrested. Mike has been detained until security decides if they want to press charges.

Killer Mike’s arrest came at a moment when he should have been basking in the glow of his achievements. He had just accepted awards for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers” as well as Best Rap Album for Michael.
