Sean Penn is just getting around to criticizing Will Smith over his infamous Oscars slap. In 2022, Smith slapped Oscars presenter Chris Rock after the comic mentioned Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, in a joke.
Later that evening, the “Men in Black” star won the Best Actor award for his performance in “King Richard.”
Weighing in on the controversy in an interview with Variety, Sean Penn said, “I don’t know Will Smith. I met him once. He seemed very nice when I met him. He was so f###### good in ‘King Richard.’ So why the f### did you just spit on yourself and everybody else with this stupid f###### thing?”
“Why did I go to f###### jail for what you just did? And you’re still sitting there? Why are you guys standing and applauding his worst moment as a person?” the “Milk” actor added in reference to his own past and the apparent double standard that exists in Hollywood.
In 1987, Sean Penn was ordered to spend 60 days in jail after he punched a songwriter because he thought the man kissed his then-wife, Madonna.
The Oscar winner then claimed the Will Smith/Chris Rock incident would have never occurred if the Academy had allowed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to appear at the ceremony as he had suggested.
“This f###### b####### wouldn’t have happened with Zelensky,” he stated. “Will Smith would never have left that chair to be part of stupid violence. It never would have happened.”
Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert have separated after seven years of marriage—and apparently, they’ve been living apart for awhile. Taylor revealed the news in an Instagram post on Sunday (September 17), denying cheating had anything to do with their split. Rumors started to swirl last week after a blog site claimed the former NBA player cheated on his wife with a woman signed to his record label. An Instagram post showed the woman donning a chain similar to Shumpert’s, although the woman in question has since debunked the notion. Evidently fed up with the chatter, Taylor decided to take matters into her own hands.
“AHT AHT! Not too much on my bestie!” she wrote. “In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while. To be 1000% clear, ‘infidelity’ ain’t one of the reasons for our departure. We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children. Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married we ain’t ever played with or about THAT.
“We just keep y’all a#### out the group chat lol, which is the reason we’ve been able to successfully & peacefully separate without all of the outside noise. The only reason I’m even sharing THIS part of the chat is because the narratives are getting a little out of hand & it’s unfair to all parties involved. I hope this provided some clarity for y’all. Okay AunTey taking y’all back out the chat bye!”
Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert’s relationship has been seeped in controversy for years. In August 2022, Taylor copped to having threesomes with her husband in the past. As she said at the time, “People be surprised by how the woman initiates a lot of stuff. I’m not poly, but when everybody heard that me and my husband had threesomes before, they were like, ‘She’s willing to do that to keep a man,’ but that was all me!”
The Shumperts wed in October 2016. They welcomed their first daughter, Junie, in December 2015 and their second daughter, Rue, in September 2020
Bay Area Hip-Hop staple Lateef The Truthspeaker (Blackalicious/Latyrx) has joined forces with French MC Leeroy (Saïan Supa Crew) and Hervé Salters (General Elektriks) for a new group called The Strangers. The Hip-Hop/funk hybrid released their debut, self-titled album on Friday (September 15).
“Hailing from the year 2222, The Strangers are sending us a time capsule in reverse, a sonic testimony from the future,” a press release says of the concept album. “Their songs tell us that in 200 years, the Earth Federation political system will be based on the obligation for everyone to travel annually, starting from a very young age. As a result, fear of the unknown will have disappeared and so will the concept of war. But humans of the future will be forced to travel. Some will refuse to do so and fight for their right to stay home. Can securing a better world justify oppression?”
It continues, “The 3 Strangers use the future as a means to talk about the present. But they also inject a healthy dose of humor and energy into their music, and if what they wrote is indeed a concept album, it should be filed somewhere between The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper and Quasimoto’s The Unseen, two records whose basic premise gives birth to an unbridled playing field.”
The 13-track project is currently available on all streaming platforms. Find it below.
As the First Ladies of Ruthless Records, JJ Fad broke down several barriers for women in Hip-Hop. In 1989, the trailblazing trio—comprised of MC JB, Sassy C and Baby D—became the first female rap group to earn a Grammy Award nomination for their debut album, Supersonic, which was released the year prior. But it appears some of the facts surrounding JJ Fad’s career are still being misconstrued. Last week, former MTV VJ and Hip-Hop legend Fab 5 Freddy sat down with Angela Yee for an episode of her Way Up podcast, where he incorrectly stated Ice Cube wrote all of Supersonic.
“Ice Cube wrote that entire album,” he said. “I did the same thing. And it was Jerry Heller, the head of Ruthless Records, who told me that. And I was like wait. I did a double take and had to ask him like twice. But that’s the skill of a writer. Like, ‘OK, I can write for women.’ He put it all together for them, which was pretty incredible to think about at that time.”
Once JJ Fad caught wind of Fab 5 Freddy’s comments, they quickly addressed them on social media, calling them “false.” Speaking to AllHipHop, MC JB explained why it was so bothersome.
“We love our brother Ice Cube and thank him so much for his contributions to our album,” she said. “He was in the studio when we recorded our album, and he wrote a couple of our diss songs, but in no way did he write our entire album. JJ Fad wrote the majority of our album, including [the single] ‘Supersonic.’ We are very proud of that.
“We want to set the record straight as women that we are more than capable of writing, producing and performing in this Hip-Hop genre, and all genres. We honor and respect the femcees of today who are doing it all. We have no beef with Fab 5 Freddy. We just wish he would have done the research before speaking out on such a large platform that questions our authenticity.”
Supersonic arrived in June 1988 with production by N.W.A members Dr. Dre and DJ Yella, alongside Arabian Prince, who served as co-producer. Singles included the title track, “Way Out” and “Is It Love.” The title track reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play Songs and No. 22 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. It stayed on the dance charts for eight weeks. The single was ultimately certified gold by RIAA, a first for Ruthless Records.
JJ Fad still tours the world, sharing their innate talent with their fans.
Singer Irish Grinstead—a member of the R&B group 702— has died. Grinstead’s sister and fellow group member, Lemisha Grinstead, announced the news in an Instagram post on Saturday (September 16).
“It is with great sadness that I have to let you know that my beautiful sister and friend has passed away this evening,” she wrote. “She has had a long battle and she is finally at peace. That girl was as bright as the stars! She was not only beautiful on the outside, but also within. Sharing the stage with her was a joy I will cherish for the rest of my life! We, the family ask for prayers and respect for our privacy as we grieve an outstanding loss to our family.”
702 member Kameelah Williams also shared her sorrow on Instagram, writing, “I struggled with this post because to me this isn’t real. There’s a lot I want to say, but there’s no way to say what your heart hasn’t fully accepted. It’s hard to acknowledge this is even happening. I know you’re feeling better now and hugging your twin Orish which makes me smile c## [sic] I know how much you missed her.”
702 released its debut album, No Doubt, in 1996. The project sold more than 500,000 copies, earning the group a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The trio released their most famous 702 song called “Where My Girls At?” in 1999. Williams ultimately distanced herself from the Grinstead sisters after the release of that album and was replaced by Cree La’More, a solo singer.
The newly organized lineup then released a single called “Pootie Tangin'” for the Pootie Tang soundtrack before Williams returned to the group. 702 followed up with the album Star, which contained the single “I Still Love You.” The group broke up in 2006. Orish Grinstead—who was Irish’s twin and one of the founding members of the group—died in April 2008 at 27 years old.
Cardi B checked Joe Budden about shading her new single with Megan Thee Stallion, “Bongos,” and siding with a woman who was found guilty of slandering her.
Cardi recently headed to went to social media to vent about Budden talking negatively about her and being cool with Tasha K. After she checked Budden, Ice Spice jumped in.
Tasha K was brought up at one point, and she soon apologized again for her actions against Cardi B. In several since-deleted posts, she listed a few clarifications directly to Cardi. For one, she explained how she never said Offset “raped” a child nor has she been “sued or found liable” for that.
Tasha K also mentioned that she never lied about telling her viewers Cardi B “drugged and robbed men to pay for studio time.” She said she was also never sued for that.
She then addressed an accusation that Offset had sex with Suge Knight’s current girlfriend. The video blogger said that the woman was the one that allegedly released Offset’s text messages and number.
“I never Googled his address or his parents!” she said. “This is a lie! I was never sued for or found liable of!”
Tasha K addressed the STD allegations that she published as well, saying, “I was SUED by you because I refused to take the videos down and issue a public apology to you during that time! I was in fact found liable of these statements StarMarie made about you! And was ordered to pay you 4 million! This is true!”
In her final post, Tasha K noted she’s “currently in bankruptcy court attempting to work out a fair payment plan to pay” Cardi B. She also mentioned that she has stopped making videos because Cardi is “sensitive.” Cardi B has not responded.
Jann Wenner, who co-founded Rolling Stone magazine in 1967, was kicked off the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation Board of Directors over the weekend. The Rock Hall issued a terse statement announcing the news on Saturday (September 16), writing simply, “Jann Wenner has been removed from the Board of Directors of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.”
The unanimous decision to vote Wenner off the committee came after his alarming interview with the New York Times in which he made some disparaging comments about Black and female artists. Wenner intended to plug his new book, The Masters, which features interviews with musicians Bob Dylan, Jerry Garcia, Mick Jagger, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Pete Townshend and U2’s Bono — all white and male. When asked why he didn’t include women or Black artists, Wenner replied, “It’s not that they’re inarticulate, although, go have a deep conversation with Grace Slick or Janis Joplin. Please, be my guest.
“You know, Joni [Mitchell] was not a philosopher of rock ’n’ roll. She didn’t, in my mind, meet that test. Of Black artists — you know, Stevie Wonder, genius, right? I suppose when you use a word as broad as ‘masters,’ the fault is using that word. Maybe Marvin Gaye, or Curtis Mayfield? I mean, they just didn’t articulate at that level.”
Wenner apologized through his publisher, Little, Brown and Company, saying: “In my interview with The New York Times I made comments that diminished the contributions, genius and impact of Black and women artists and I apologize wholeheartedly for those remarks. I totally understand the inflammatory nature and badly chosen words and deeply apologize and accept the consequences.”
Wenner also co-founded the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which was launched in 1987. He seemed to acknowledge he would face a backlash while speaking to the Times, saying. “Just for public relations sake, maybe I should have gone and found one Black and one woman artist to include here that didn’t measure up to that same historical standard, just to avert this kind of criticism.”

Hip-hop musician Jericho Jyant released a track that will cause a stir in the music, acceptance, and unification worlds. The song’s name is “Jesus Loves Me (I’m a Fag),” and it’s not your typical smash. Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster, inclusion, and a healthy dose of fun.
The lyrics of Jericho are as raw as a just peeled onion, and they address a constant issue that many LGBTQ+ people face: how to balance their religion with their fabulousness. The chorus, which encourages everyone to put their prejudices on hold and embrace love and acceptance in its place, is like an espresso shot for the soul.
Now, some people may think the headline is a little bit… bold. Jericho Jyant, though, is certain that acceptance and self-love are key. What could be more wonderful than accepting who you are and knowing that you are still loved, no matter what?
It’s more than just a song; “Jesus Loves Me (I’m a Fag)” is a movement. It has the ability to unite individuals more quickly than complimentary pizza at an office meeting. It’s a lovely synthesis of religious harmony with LGBTQ+ acceptance. It serves as a reminder that even the biggest gorges may be crossed by love and compassion.
Let’s discuss the cover image now. A Christian cross decorated in colors of pride? That would be like covering everything in glitter; it would immediately improve everything. It serves as a sign of solidarity and a proclamation that, no matter how it is expressed, love is love.
Listeners from all over the world are invited to take part in this amazing voyage with Jericho Jyant and engage in discussions on harmony, acceptance, and the unbounded potential of love. When a song can get people grooving to the rhythm and chatting about vital topics, you know you’re onto something exceptional.
Now, a little introduction to Jericho. He is a musical innovator, not simply another name in the music business. His songs are akin to soul nourishment for your ears, and he isn’t afraid to stir things up with enlightening dialogue and inclusive stories. “Jesus Loves Me (I’m a Fag),” his most recent hit, was created at Bravo Ocean Studios and perfected by mixing master Vladimir Castor and mastering genius Cristian Williams. It’s like a fine dining experience for your ears.
The degree of candor regarding LGBTQ+ concerns in this song, particularly in the hip-hop industry, is what makes it so exceptional. Combining it with the lines’ strong religious overtones results in something as uncommon as seeing a unicorn.
Every rhythm and phrase on Jericho’s album is infused with his enthusiasm for building a society that values inclusion and harmony. He is a music industry change agent, not simply a performer. Prepare to dance, laugh, and reflect on life’s major issues while listening to the upbeat song “Jesus Loves Me (I’m a Fag)” It serves as a reminder that neither love nor Jericho’s ability to simultaneously make you move and think have boundaries. Officials have reportedly determined that Desiigner will not have to register as a sex offender. It was previously reported the “Panda” rapper would be required to register as a sex offender after he was caught masturbating on a plane to Japan.
As Desiigner’s attorney, Ryan Garry, told PEOPLE magazine, “Regarding the issue of [Desiigner] registering as a sex offender, many news outlets have incorrectly stated that he’s required to register as an absolute condition of his probation. They are wrong.”
Desiigner will still have to fulfill the other requirements, including 120 hours of community service, paying a $5,000 fine and completing two years of probation.
“Since this was a federal misdemeanor,” Garry continued, “the sentencing judgment states that if the State of California or some other government entity requires that [Desiigner] must register as a sex offender, then he must. The parties in this case have come to the legal conclusion, after significant research and consultation with lawyers in California, that this misdemeanor conviction is not one that will cause Mr. Selby to have to register as a sex offender.”
Garry said the legal team is ready to address anyone who wishes to challenge the decision. Meanwhile, Desiigner has not publicly addressed his conviction.
Nicki Minaj’s spouse, Kenneth “Zoo” Petty, seems to be mixed up in a “serious” beef with Offset, Cardi B’s husband. A circulating video shows Petty seemingly outside what appears to be Offset’s New York City hotel. It’s noteworthy that Petty is over 40 and STILL beasting in the streets.
In the video, Petty, accompanied by some associates, issues threats, saying, “Plan that vacation, you gonna be planning your funeral, you know what I’m saying? We’re here to talk, but it ain’t really talk, though. You’re playing with the wrong people.” The motive behind this incident remains unclear, but Offset taunted Petty for his financial situation as he disembarked from a jet. YIKES.
After that, the threats circulated on social media and then a direct message exchange between Offset and Petty’s associate surfaced online.
And this is where things get weird. I am not sure why this dude is copping pleas like this, but this is happening. Now, here is the other part. I have been getting some intel on what is really going. I am hearing this young dude is really a rapper and essentially in the middle as an act of promotion. To me, it makes sense, because who is he? He’s just giving us all this unsolicited “stuff” and then this backtrack was crazy. So, is this just a new way to push popularity in the middle real drama?
Nicki Minaj and Cardi B have maintained this ongoing feud over the course of five years and it continues. But for what? Now we are getting to the point where this could actually lead to physical altercations. There is a funny side to this—apparently Offset was in Atlanta when Petty and the goons were waiting for him “outside.”
The last time Nicki Minaj and Cardi B were in the same area, they got physical. Consequently, people do not book them together. Offset might want to be easy. An arrest warrant was issued in Germany for Petty in connection with an alleged assault.
Nicki Minaj‘s husband, Kenneth “Zoo” Petty, was apparently looking for Offset in New York City over the weekend. On Friday night (September 15), one of Petty’s friends shared an Instagram post of them attempting to track the Migos member down.
“Offset, where you at?” he’s heard saying in the clip. “That’s it … you know what’s up. We outside! Big Zoo outside!” Petty adds, “What’s poppin’?” He then says something about planning a funeral before suggesting, “Let’s play.” While it’s unclear what the beef is exactly about, one person does mention “they” tried to come at him at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, where both Offset’s wife, Cardi B, and Minaj were performing that night.
So Kenneth Petty and his slow friends went outside on an empty street at 4am to go live and threaten Offset. This is who y’all queen of rap is married to. A washed broke 45yr old sexual predator and gang member. Kenneth need that ankle monitor back on. pic.twitter.com/MfZBwFsKYO
But Offset isn’t remotely worried about any idle threats. Just hours after Petty and his entourage were on the hunt, Offset touched down in Boulder, Colorado, where he met up with Deion Sanders, the University of Colorado at Boulder’s new coach and toured the CU stadium. As pointed out by several people on social media, Offset simply brushed off Petty’s attempt at a confrontation in a video he took while stepping off a private jet.
“Offset laughing at Kenneth Petty while getting off of a private plane is the jumpstart I needed to my morning,” one person tweeted, while another said, “Its hilarious to me that Kenneth Petty is even HINTING at any problems with Cardi and Offset. You’re a convicted rapist. A BROKEY living off his sugar mama meal ticket celebrity wife. There is a BIG Difference between you and Offset. Sir if you don’t sit down.”
However, some are saying Offset started it with a direct message to Petty that read, “Where you located. U n####s p###y speaking on female business and talking crazy broke ash don’t got money for war.”

Halle Berry is less than pleased with Drake and how he is promoting his new single “Slime You Out” featuring SZA.
Drake is gearing up to release his new album For All The Dogs on October 6. The lead single from the highly anticipated album features a collaboration with SZA on the song “Slime You Out.”
Drake promoted the single, which was released on Friday, by posting an image of Halle Berry getting slimed at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. The image of Berry, apparently used without her consent, has led the Oscar Award-winning actress to lash out at the rap star.
“Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy…even if you are a woman,” Halle Berry wrote on Instagram.
Her comment section was flooded with a variety of reactions. Some slammed Halle for her reaction, saying she should be grateful, while others took offense over the title of the song.
“bitter old 🦝 should be happy cuz she not known for shid else rn other than paying TWO white men child support 😭sad how shid turned out for Halle,” one testosterone-filled commenter fumed, referencing Berry’s divorce battles with Olivier Martinez has and Gabriel Aubry.
“I would be more upset about the meaning of the pic. ‘Slime you’ what does that mean exactly? Hmm..,” another user inquired while another wrote, “A lot of these responses show too many children are being raised by a phone and the internet smh, more technology seems to equal more stupidity and less humanity.”
As of now, there is no word on whether Halle Berry plans to take any legal action against the rapper or if he required the needed permission to use the photo at all.
This is not the first time Drake has found himself in a legal quagmire over artwork.
In a previous incident, Drake and fellow artist 21 Savage were sued by magazine publisher Condé Nast for using a fake Vogue cover to promote their Her Loss album. The lawsuit, which sought at least $4 million in damages, ended with Drake and 21 Savage agreeing to pay an undisclosed amount to settle the matter.
The settlement also included a permanent injunction preventing the use of the fake Vogue cover in their promotional campaign.
While many people are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop, there are some who don’t see the benefit of the musical art form—and Newsmax talking head Greg Kelly is one of them.
He thinks Vice President Kamala Harris was wrong to invite 400 Hip-Hop fans to come into her residence to celebrate the musical form.
As previously reported, the Howard graduate invited prominent Hip-Hop figures such as Common, Lil Wayne, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Jeezy, MC Lyte, Roxanne Shante and Fat Joe to attend.
They not only came to enjoy a day with the VP, but they also partied to performances by Lil Wayne, Jeezy and Too $hort. Kelly said the event illustrated why Harris is a “goofball” and “should not run” for president in 2024, according to a video published on Media Matters.
“Everybody knows she’s a goofball, sorry,” he said. “Here she is celebrating Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop has done a lot of damage to America, especially American youth—especially American youth, people of color, people not of color, all kinds of people harmed by the message of Hip-Hop. Not all of it, but a lot of it.”
While Kelly may think Hip-Hop has damaged America, many believe it has helped the nation— particularly in social justice spaces.
The Black Jewish Entertainment Alliance hosted a panel at the Recording Academy in Santa Monica, California on Thursday night (September 14). Moderated by culture critic Justin Hunte, the panel featured We Working and the Lobel Music Group CEO Steve Lobel, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony MC Layzie Bone, Loud Records’ Steve Rifkind, Xzibit and Blood of Abraham’s Mazik. The spirited conversation was intended to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop—which it did. Hunte began the panel by asking each participant about the moment they fell in love with the culture.
For Xzibit, it was an act of defiance as a kid. His parents were adamantly against rap, which only intensified his desire to do it. For Lobel, it was hearing the Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight” at a rollerskating rink in New York City; same with Layzie Bone, who discovered the song in 1984. Rifkind, meanwhile, was intrigued by The Fatback Band’s “King Tim III” in 1979. Naturally, the discussion splintered off into several directions throughout the event, but there seemed to be at least one common theme: the mainstream rap landscape needs an overhaul. At one point, a young woman asked each panelist their opinions on female rappers.
“When we were crushing it, Lady of Rage was the only reference point that we have for female West Coast MCs,” Xzibit said. “There is room for different female rap. I think the shock value and the sexualized way that females are presenting Hip-Hop right now is like one note. We’ve heard that note, we’ve seen it. I’m not saying anything’s wrong with it because we talked about all kinds of s### in our records. But you have an opportunity to do something really different and stand out. It may feel like you trying to move a mountain, but when you move that mountain, it’s gonna feel a lot better because we shift the whole energy of the of the conversation, so that’s what I’m saying. Dare to be different.”
Layzie Bone stood up and offered his own advice, saying, “As a lady, be a lady. Like, I’m not even impressed with these b###### on the internet. Have respect for yourself and you will make the world respect you.”
The discussion continued to wander through each participants’ respective careers but kept returning to where Hip-Hop stands as a culture. With the focus so heavily on the “50th,” the topic has been on the tip of everyone’s tongues. The overall consensus was painfully clear—something needs to change.
As Xzibit so eloquently stated, “Everything sounds the same. Listen, there’s two factors that I believe are stifling music. Because Hip-Hop is so huge and it made so many people so much money, they think anybody can do it. For example, if you go and say, ‘I love football,’ but you won’t take your ass down there, suit up and get on the field when it’s time, you won’t do that. Everyone feels that Hip-Hop is so accessible that anybody can do it. It’s become a mockery of itself. That’s one.
“Number two, I think it’s become too accessible. Back in the day, there was a time that you had to go into somebody’s office and get an investment into your career. Now, if you have a laptop and WiFi, you can be an artist, which just crowds the whole lane. You’re doing yourself a disservice by participating in that.”
Layzie Bone chimed in with, “It just f##### the whole game up,” to which Xzibit said, “First of all, we should have unionized. We should have had some kind of union and a board and organized ourself. Right now, 50 years later, we still don’t own s###. Until we own it, until we control it, until we have a say on who gets to f###ng call themselves this and call themselves that like everybody else, it’s going to continue to spiral out of control. That’s why we aren’t on Billboard because nobody is in the pilot seat, guiding us where we’re supposed to go. We went to thousand to millions to billions—this is a billion-dollar industry—but until we take the focus and clean up our own backyard, then it’s not going to have the same respect that it’s garnered in the past.”
Layzie Bone (appropriately) stressed the importance of “harmony.” He said, “Teamwork makes the dream work. You do right by the people you love, stuff like that will rule everything. I’m trying to be on some family sh#t. If you ain’t harmonizing with each other, it’s just a bunch of noise in this muthafucka, and me and X gonna go do what we do any g####### way.”

No one will be charged for the murder of 350Heem or the shooting of a 48-year-old woman named Regina Orr.
Six weeks after the rising star lost his life in a parking lot shoot-out outside of the Jade Fox Lounge, Lakeland Police say while they have solved the crime. And the person who fatally shot the recording artist will not be charged with murder.
Orr and 350Heem’s mom, Kennie Crawford, got into an argument “due to the defendant and victim Orr not paying to enter the Jade Fox lounge.”
Orr and her daughter Jamilah Johnson left but came back to the party with more people. They finally paid to get in, even though the party was almost over.
At one point, according to authorities, Orr and Johnson approached Crawford, and then Orr punched her in the face, sparking a “large fight” that spilled out from the club to the parking lot.
Police say 350Heem “raised a firearm and shot the 48-year-old female victim [Orr],” seconds prior to being shot by [Orr’s daughter] Jamilah Johnson, according to LKLD Now.
LPD Officer Joshua Collins was present at the altercation and said he saw Johnson shoot the Motown recording artist. LPD spokeswoman Stephanie Kerr said Johnson shot 350Heem twice with a stolen. .40 caliber Glock model 27 handgun based on bullets from the incident.
The State Attorney’s Office “did not support the criminal charge of homicide against Johnson,” as she was trying to defend her mom.
“He advised that she started shooting into the crowd. He stated he exited his vehicle and gave chase and during the chase he observed the defendant throw a firearm towards the back of the vehicle. He stated once the defendant discarded the firearm, she stopped and surrendered without further incident,” said an affidavit regarding the arrest.
The 9mm gun used to shoot him down has not been recovered. The police believe someone took the weapon from the vehicle at the scene of the crime.
“I loved Black guys. For me, dark meat on the side, white keeps me mean and lean. That’s why married a white. That’s what I like.” -Jennie Mai
After just two years of marriage, rapper Young Jeezy (Jay Wayne Jenkins) and TV host Jeannie Mai have filed for divorce. While their split has been widely covered in the media, a closer look at their relationship reveals a complex web of reasons behind their decision to part ways.
Growing Apart: Different Lives, Different Worlds?
One significant factor contributing to the breakdown of their marriage appears to be their vastly different lifestyles. Jeannie Mai, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, resides in Los Angeles, where she’s deeply immersed in the Hollywood scene. On the other hand, Jeezy, known for his low-key nature, resides in Atlanta, focusing primarily on his business ventures and occasional tours. This geographical separation led to them living two distinct lives, running in different social circles, and having diverse sets of friends and cultural backgrounds.
It’s essential to acknowledge that both Jeezy and Jeannie seemed to have entered the marriage with motives beyond pure love and commitment. Jeezy MAY have been attracted to the temporary publicity and the aesthetic appeal that Jeannie brought to his life. Their interracial relationship could have been a factor, and he might not have been fully prepared for the responsibilities of marriage. This is clearly an assumption.
Jeannie, too, had her reasons. She found financial security in Jeezy, especially after her tenure on “The Real” ended. Additionally, she saw in Jeezy an opportunity to break into the world of urban entertainment, further boosting her career. Moreover, it’s worth mentioning that Jeannie had expressed a preference for marrying outside of her race in the past, which she eventually fulfilled with her marriage to Jeezy. Personally, I did not like her demeanor related to him.
Another contributing factor to their separation could be their communication issues. Jeannie openly discussed her fiery temper during her time with Jeezy, citing that he challenged her to work on herself in ways her previous partner had not. While she attempted to change her behavior, it’s unclear how successful these efforts were in the long run. Jeezy also has a history of relationship drama and legal issues, hinting at potential communication challenges between the couple.
Jeannie Mai’s previous marriage to Freddie Harteis, a non-famous individual, ended after ten years. During this marriage, she made controversial comments about preferring white men, which caused a stir. Her subsequent marriage to Jeezy, a wealthy and famous Black rapper, seemed to align more with her preferences and career ambitions. Hmmmmmm….
In the end, the divorce of Jeezy and Jeannie Mai is a complex and multi-faceted story. It ended so fast, we have to speculate. Something clearly went very, very wrong. It appears that their different lifestyles, motives for entering the marriage, communication issues, and past experiences all played a part in their decision to part ways. While the details of their separation remain private, it serves as a reminder that the dynamics of celebrity relationships often involve more than meets the eye, revealing the complexities of love and fame in the spotlight.
The saga between Tyrese and DJ Envy over The Breakfast Club host’s wife is apparently nowhere near ending. Tyrese recently visited the Hot 97 show and was confronted by DJ Envy about being inappropriate and flirting with his wife, Gia Casey. Tyrese denied the allegations and took to his social media to defend himself in a 22-minute video.
The “Transformer” movie star posted the video on his Instagram, intent on clearing his name. He claimed he never sent text messages “directly to Envy or directly to his wife” where he disrespected either of them.
“I literally just had to pull up some receipts and I had to go and look in my phone and say, ‘When is the last time we were actually communicating, and does anything about our communication feel like I actually disrespected his wife or him?’ ” Tyrese said. “Because whether I was on psych meds or not, you’re not describing me as a man. That was the most hurtful thing ever.”
DJ Envy doubled down on his position and invited his wife to his show, where the two of them discussed why they fell out with the “Sweet Lady” singer.
Tyrese then answered Evny and Gia’s latest version of what happened in a four-part Instagram series.
“Since we out here tryna go ‘viral’ threatening live on the air let’s unpack this all……. However way you/yall respond I’m done done….. Have fun!!” he said. “Milk it into ratings and more blogs.
“What I’m NEVER gonna do until I take my last breath is let anyone question my integrity, attack my character and be out here reckless on some random f##k s##t….. I would strongly suggest you tread lightly…. I don’t do cease-and-desist letters. I don’t deal with lawyers I don’t snitch…. I don’t gaslight I wanna f### up and I’ll make a mistake. I can tell my own self under the bus….. you decide on your own what level we’re gonna take it to from here…. I want all the smoke beige nigha.”
South Florida is currently grappling with a surge in violence that seems intricately linked to the local rap scene after separate shootings killed a man near a Sexyy Red video shoot, another that killed Syko Bob’s mom, and a fatal shooting involving an unidentified local rapper.
The area witnessed a series of shootings in just two days, with local rap artists being a common factor in these tragic events.
Authorities are now meticulously investigating to unearth any potential connections between these distressing incidents that have left the communities in shock and mourning.
The recent wave of violence includes a shooting near the Oakland Park Flea Market, where rapper Sexyy Red was filming a music video.
A sudden eruption of gunfire at a nearby gas station led to one individual losing his life and another severely injured, necessitating immediate hospitalization.
Sexyy Red, who was present at the video shoot, vehemently denied any connection between the shooting and her video through a series of Instagram stories.
Sexyy Red emphasized that the incident occurred across the street from her set and urged people not to manipulate the narrative surrounding the event. Despite her clarifications, detectives are not ruling out potential links between the video shoot and the tragic shooting.
Adding to the grim series of events, Dorothy Smart, the mother of rapper Syko Bob, became a victim during the wave of violence. She was brutally ambushed and killed in her driveway in Fort Lauderdale, a scene that bore the marks of a targeted attack.
The current circumstances have brought Syko Bob, who is serving a prison sentence for weapons possession charges, back into the limelight.
A parallel incident in Miami Gardens mirrored the violent patterns observed in the other cases.
Witnesses recounted a scene where two assailants ambushed and killed a man, who is believed to be another local rap artist after he picked up food at a local shopping center.
Police have yet to release the victim’s identity as of press time.

Diddy Brings Up The Time Yung Miami Made “Papi Proud”
Later, the “Act Bad” collaborators discussed going “off the grid” which was described as spending time with your significant other without access to phones. Miami asked Diddy to name his favorite thing when he is off the grid.
“Just locked into your body when I feel like I’m all up in your chest and your soul,” answered Diddy. When questioned about his favorite moment being off the grid with Yung Miami he responded, “When we went to the Bahamas. We went – it was 48 hours straight. You did not Buenos Noches that night. You made a Papi proud.”
