How Luuk Halman Overcame a Lifetime of Challenge to Storm the Music Industry

“Never give up” may just be a cliché phrase that people often hear or read. For people who have lived holding on to this phrase as the only ray of hope, life is bound to unfold with success in every corner. The real-life story of Luuk Halman is a perfect example here. Luuk is known for his unconventional pop and classic rock style, creating a distinct fan base in the industry. However, many of us may not be aware of the years of struggle that the artist has been through to accomplish his goals.

Luuk was brought up by his grandparents as he was abandoned by his parents after their legal separation. His upbringing was nothing fancy, but things were never tight. Life took a sudden turn when both his grandparents passed away. Luuk was only 18 and still pursuing a college degree. With the little savings that his grandparents had left, Luuk was able to complete college but was clueless about his future. He was always passionate about music and wanted to pursue it for a living.

At 21, Luuk was a broke graduate working multiple jobs just to survive. After slogging 16 hours a day, he hardly had any time to devote to honing his craft. As years passed, Luuk became more and more frustrated with his life because he found no job fulfilling. His lack of focus and financial insecurity eventually led to his divorce. These experiences led him to depression for a while until he rediscovered himself through music. It was then he realized his true passion and was able to fill the missing space in his life.

Determined to be a musician, Luuk started working on his music. He was desperately looking for a job at small clubs or pubs that held live shows. Unfortunately, his unconventional style did not impress any club owners. After repeated rejections, Luuk decided to showcase his talent on social media. In 2019, Luuk launched his channel “Aching Melodies” with his debut single “Abandoned.” The song is a contemporary pop track with subtle undertones of classic rock. Luuk has poured out of all the pain, rejection, and abandonment he felt through the lyrics. His song instantly resonated with people around the world, earning it 2 million views in a month.

The overwhelming response was the biggest boost Luuk needed to continue creating music. His next single, “Jilted,” was released on YouTube, Facebook, and Spotify in December 2019. The roaring success of his contemporary rock style officially marked his entry into the music industry. Luuk started getting offers to perform live at various events and music festivals. Just when he thought his career was about to take off, Luuk faced another grave challenge in his career: The onset of the pandemic postponed all live shows, leaving Luuk jobless for six months.

Although depressed by the huge setback in his career, Luuk never gave up on his dreams. He knew his passion for music would find a way through digital media. Luuk returned with four back-to-back hit singles on his YouTube channel in 2020. Among them, “Bleeding soul” made it to number 12 on the iTunes music chart. Since then, Luuk has never looked back.

Today, Luuk has 10 hit tracks to his name. His songs have been featured on billboard charts throughout 2021. Luuk is now on a mission to introduce a new form of rock, making people fall in love with his genre. The unique style that once brought him many rejections is now gaining him global recognition.

Ice Cube Says Chris Tucker Rejected $10-12 Million Offer For ‘Next Friday’

Millions of dollars couldn’t convince Chris Tucker to reprise his role as Smokey in Next Friday, according to Ice Cube.

Ice Cube explained why Chris Tucker didn’t appear in the Friday sequel via Twitter on Wednesday (December 29). After a fan suggested it was due to money, Ice Cube set the record straight in a quote tweet response.

“We were ready to pay Chris Tucker $10-12m to do Next Friday but he turned us down for religious reasons,” he wrote. “He didn’t want to cuss or smoke weed on camera anymore.”

Last month, Chris Tucker admitted the weed usage was one of his reasons for turning down the Next Friday gig. The comedian didn’t discuss money but revealed why he didn’t want to portray a smoker in an interview with the Flix Talk podcast.

“One of the reasons why I didn’t do the second one was because of the weed,” he told Flix Talk. “I said, ‘Man, that movie became a phenomenon. I don’t want everybody smoking weed.’ I never really told people this because I kind of forgot about it, but it was one of the reasons why I didn’t do it ‘cause I said I don’t wanna represent everybody smoking weed.”

The Friday franchise is currently in a state of disarray as Warner Bros. won’t allow Ice Cube to make a fourth film. But even if the long-discussed movie comes to fruition, Chris Tucker likely won’t be part of it.

“I probably won’t [do the movie] because I never want to shortchange my audience and my fans,” he told Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast. “I know they want it because that’s what they know and love, and I’m glad they love it, but I don’t want to come back in something that I probably can’t do what they want me to do because I’ve grown. And not only grown, I’m different.”

Cardi B Understood The Assignment!!! THC Design & Popeye’s Chicken at Offsets Bday!

Cardi B showed up and showed out as she hosted Offset’s 30th birthday bash at Sneakertopia in Los Angeles last Tuesday evening dubbed the “Sneaker Ball.” The dress code was Drip Required! She provided his VIP Partygoers with cannabis pre-rolls straight off the “black” carpet by THC Design.

If pre-rolls weren’t your thing, there was a fire weed bar where Offset’s friends and family could roll their own cannabis with strains like Crescendo, Grape & Cream, Peanut Butter Souffle, and Garlic Cocktail.

And next to the weed bar when the “munchies” set in was none other than your favorite Lousiana chicken, Popeye’s. Chicken Sandwiches and chicken strips and fries were passed out by his lovely waitresses all night long, and they even had Hot Sauce. ( Don’t worry plant-based family, they even had vegan sandwiches going around.)

Some of your favorite celebrities were definitely in the building walking around enjoying themselves, like Quavo and Takeoff from the Migos, Kanye West, Rich the Kid, The Game, French Montana, NLE Choppa, Jason Lee, Slick Woods, Elijah Banx, Hazey Taughtme, and many more.

During the “Sneaker Ball” celebrations, Cardi unveiled her birthday gift to her husband: a giant check worth $2 million. Lobos gifted Offset with a pair of Sneakers signed by Lebron James, THC Design gifted offset with a pound of indoor Flower and Cardi also threw a hundred thousand in ones to the dancers.

The party was sponsored by Lobos, Dusse, Blk Water, Popeye’s, Elevate Dispensary, and THC Design. Partygoers were even gifted sneakers and gift bags with eighths, pre-rolls, and a copy of Black Cannabis Magazine.

Cardi B definitely knows how to throw a party!

Jadakiss: AllHipHop’s 2021 Person Of The Year

“The Champ Is Here” – Muhammad Ali

Don’t call it a comeback. Jadakiss has been here for years.

Backstage in a legendary venue, The Queen in Wilmington, Delaware, is swarming with people. Local VIPs, promoters, workers, and even well-connected fans circle the green room that would eventually house Jadakiss.

When Jadakiss comes through, the celebrities show up. E-Ness, Dutchie, Peedi Crakk, Freeway, Lil Cease, and others. His manager makes sure everything is proper, including security. Anybody without the proper credentials is removed from the area.

And, then in a discrete area is Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur, Grouchy Greg, and their homie Matt B.

On the floor is a gigantic trophy that needed a seatbelt to get to the venue. The award, which looks like a Stanley Cup, was the biggest trophy AllHipHop could find because to us, Jadakiss gave us one of the purest, unapologetically Hip-Hop moments of the year in Verzuz – The Lox against The Diplomats.

Way before the faux Time magazine meme circulated on social media, Jigsaw and Grouchy bestowed Jadakiss – on behalf of the culture – with the award: AllHipHop’s Person of the Year.

Creekmur spoke:

“Kiss, we want to send you the utmost respect and salute you for what you’ve done to the game – this year alone. With that Verzuz – you and The Lox – you revitalized the game with that. We wanted to say ‘the champ is here’ in Wilmington, Delaware. AllHipHop’s 2021 Person of the Year.”

Jadakiss’s display at Verzuz, which took place in Madison Square Garden, was electrifying, mesmerizing, and amazing. The king’s generalship has not been seen like this in a long time, if ever. And, Verzuz – which already had changed the game, was permanently maligned after Jada and The Lox tore it down.

After, we saw Ja Rule and Fat Joe, Big Daddy Kane and KRS-One, and Three 6 Mafia and Bone Thug-N-Harmony take on a more vicious, competitive vibe.

After the Dipset/ Lox battle, there were memes, online analysis, and commentary for weeks and weeks. Everybody was watching, both old and new. OGs tightened up their shows, and younger artists studied the masters.

At the Queen, Grouchy Greg graciously hands Jadakiss the keepsake of achievement in front of a small audience within the green room.

“Me, myself and my brothers, we don’t get much accolades or recognition for whatever we’ve done for the culture, but we ain’t even in it for that,” Jadakiss told the room. But, AllHipHop, we appreciate the recognition. We appreciate the love. We knew what it is before, even if you didn’t come bearing such a great trophy, it would’ve been all love. And I just want to say I appreciate it.”

And he’s right. This honor is the apex culmination of years and years of writing, the albums, cameos, performances, beefs, bonding, and even practice. And love and respect. After getting his award, “Kiss and friends” went on to rock hit after hit and freestyle after freestyle in The Queen at a sold-out, peaceful event that all will remember.

So, he may be the Person of the Year in 2021, but we know it began way before that. Respect and salute from The Culture.

From AllHipHop.

The Champ is here. Still.

Omicron Ruins Atlanta’s Big New Year’s Eve Party With Goodie Mob And Ashanti

The coronavirus just wants to ruin the whole holiday season, all the way to the end.

According to reports, Atlanta’s New Year’s Eve celebration, the Peach Drop, will not be happening.

According to WRDW, Atlanta’s outgoing mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms canceled the annual event that brings about 60,000 people to the city’s Underground each year.

Those banking on attending this year’s countdown into 2022 would have seen Atlanta’s own Goodie Mob and GRAMMY Award-winning artist Ashanti.

The Underground Atlanta posted on their social media the announcement.

“Due to the rising number of Covid cases, the City is canceling the Peach Drop at Underground. While we are saddened to miss this year’s party and musical acts, we are very excited to bring the Peach Drop back next year and better than ever. Stay healthy everyone!”

The city has entered into the “Red Zone” with its current rise of COVID cases. According to the CDC, over the last seven days, 59,116 cases have been diagnosed, and that is a 25% positivity rate.

There are also about 272 new hospital admissions.

Those who travel know that Atlanta has been open and seems to have never shut down. But technically, that would not be true.

The Peach Drop has been canceled three years in a row.

In 2019, the cancelation was not COVID-19 related. The goal was to re-work the celebration to be a more cohesive experience.

In 2020, it was sacked because of the global pandemic. This year was anticipated to be one of the best concerts ever, but the Omicron variant was not playing.

Meet Cette 3: The New R&B Group On The Scene

Nowadays, it seems like every other day there’s a new artist on the scene. So in order to stand out, you have to be different. Insert the newest R&B group called Cette 3, aka the TM Twins comprised of Taneeyah and Meniyah Biscette, along with their baby sister Krissy. Each one of them can dance, sing, and create fire content for their extremely loyal fanbase.

At only 17-years-old, the Houston natives have already learned how to write, record, and produce, and they show no plans of slowing down. The former pair recently celebrated one million followers on Instagram, while Krissy boasts her own following of 445K. Most recently, they released their newest Christmas song called “Make Christmas Right,” building off the momentum of last year’s “Christmas With You.”

Additionally, the girls recently graced the cover of Indy Magazine, and even performed at their own school.

AllHipHop: First off, introduce yourselves and give me a fun fact about yourself.

Taneeyah: My name is Taneeyah. Fun fact, I’m the twin and I dance too.

Krissy: I’m Krissy. I play piano and I play basketball.

Meniyah: I’m Meniyah, I love to sing and also dance.

AllHipHop: How did you guys start singing and dancing?

Krissy: Really, they started first with dancing at age 3. Once I came along, they started dance so I jumped on the train with them. But I stopped after 5 years because dancing wasn’t my thing.

AllHipHop: 5 years?!

Krissy: Yeah. It was too much for me. I was more of a sports person. I played basketball. Later on, we all figured that we’d want to sing together so we made a group.

Meniyah: Well really, I started the singing. We formed a group together because everybody started singing together, so we got that group together.

AllHipHop: Who were you guys watching that made you want to sing and dance?

Taneeyah: As dancers when we first started dancing, Debbie Allen. She’s a dance legend. We took classes with her and everything so I’d say Debbie Allen for the dancing part. The singing part…

Krissy: We didn’t really look at anybody.

Taneeyah: Right, we just knew we wanted to sing because we can all sing. So why not have a group?

AllHipHop: What was that moment you guys decided you could be a group? Did someone initiate it?

Everyone: Our mom. [laughs]

Meniyah: It was really over Corona because we started getting on YouTube more. I’ve always liked to sing, and they both do too. We all formed a group together because why not? Girl group, and we grew up all together.

AllHipHop: How did you guys get the name, Cette 3?

Krissy: Those are the last couple letters of our last name. There’s 3 of us, so Cette 3.

Meniyah: We were coming up with it with my mom.

Krissy: It was a group decision, we all decided.

Taneeyah: Because before this page, before it was just me and my sister, it was all 3 of us.

Krissy: TMK Entertainment.

Taneeyah: We changed the name so many times. So many times.

AllHipHop: What was the reality of the journey to a million followers?

Meniyah: We started with of course, FunnyMike. A lot of people know.

Taneeyah: We really started dancing first.

Meniyah: Yeah we started dancing first. On the YouTube side, we started going with FunnyMike. After that, we kept posting our dance videos and challenges. We did that before too, but that’s how we got really founded, because of me and my sister dancing.

Taneeyah: We started off dancing, we built that to about 60K. As we built that, then funny mikes company really found us. From that point on, we started dancing. Before we were doing that, we were making dance challenges. We really blew off of that really.

AllHipHop: Do you remember the first video that went viral?

Everyone: Yes! [laughs]

Meniyah: Oh yeah! Our first viral video was the #MopChallenge. You know Tisakorean? “Mop, mop,” that challenge. That was our first viral video. After that, we kept going crazy with the posts.

Taneeyah: Getting noticed and all of that.

AllHipHop: How did it feel to finally get the attention for your talents?

Meniyah: It was unexpected, not gonna lie.

Taneeyah: It felt good though because we’ve been dancing for a long time. With the dancing, we were trying to build that, get noticed. Then finally from the Tisakorean dance challenge, [people found out about us]. It was really my friend from school. It was my sister, me and our friend, we were all in the video. But we posted it on our page and it blew up from that.

AllHipHop: Did it blow up on Instagram or TikTok?

Meniyah: It blew up on Instagram.

Taneeyah: Then TikTok afterwards, and then YouTube. You know how Youtube has the One Challenges and dance compilations? That’s how it really blew up.

AllHipHop: How long does it usually take you guys to do a dance video?

Taneeyah: Well if we’re choreographing, which I’m the choreographer…

Krissy: Forever.

Taneeyah: No, it’s really not. It really depends on what type of dance it is. That’s really what it is. Meniyah: If it’s technical maybe, it would probably take longest 30 minutes.

Taneeyah: Yes, 30 minutes. It’s a good 10 minutes really, not even probably that long.

AllHipHop: Being from Houston, what was that like growing up?

Meniyah: We always rep H-Town everywhere we go. People be like, “Where y’all from?” We from H-Town!

Krissy: I feel like we be lying to them, but hey. We from an island or something.

Taneeyah: Well yeah my dad’s side is from Saint Lucia, that’s the island side. But I say I’m from Houston, Texas.

Krissy: It’s been good to us so far.

AllHipHop: Are you guys still in school? How are you balancing all this?

Everyone: Oh Lord. [laughs]

Taneeyah: It’s our senior year, I feel like this has been the easiest year so far with work and all that. Because senior year, you really get to chill. But the years before that, it was alot of hustle and test.

Taneeyah: Especially Corona, when we were online, it wasn’t that hard. Online was easier than in person. It’s not that bad. We got used to it, working around our schedule.

Krissy: And I’m a sophomore, so it’s not new to me still, but I’m still getting used to the high school work and all that. It’s pretty easy.

AllHipHop: You guys dropped “Make Christmas Right,” how’d that feel?

Krissy: It’s our second one. Our first one we ever made was the Christmas song, “Christmas With You.” We try to make it to where it’s something that we do every year maybe, if we can. It feels good.

Taneeyah: This one, the second time Meniyah wrote it. She can really say more about how she came up with the ideas.

Meniyah: I got the idea because I first made the hooks first. When I got the hook, I got the whole song. I tried to bring everybody together in that song. I’m not trying to relate to us, I want to relate to everybody. Whether I’m with or without you, if you’re not with your family member or anybody, that’s how I made the song.

AllHipHop: What was the best memory from shooting?

Meniyah: Us, we were running from the camera. I don’t know if you know Jay, who was in the video but he had and acting scene.

Taneeyah: Yeah, the acting scene is my favorite part.

AllHipHop: Talk about writing and producing at 17! Krissy are you producing too?

Krissy: I’m the engineer. I do the recording and all that.

Taneeyah: Stopping and starting, all that. That’s my little sister, she goes in there! She really does instruments too.

Krissy: I play piano. I used to play drums, but I still know how. I tried guitar, it did not work out. [laughs]

AllHipHop: How did y’all learn how to do all that though?

Meniyah: My mom was honestly a big help. She put up the studio for us. After that, we started not really messing with it but recording. Kept recording, kept doing it over and over again. It got easier. We all know how to record because we go in the booth one by one.

Taneeyah: We stop, record, all that. My mom put us in classes too, everything. We took classes for that. Krissy took classes too, learning how to play piano and all that.

AllHipHop: Where was the video was shot? How fun it was to be in a Christmas vibe?

Krissy: It was fun. We had some friends over, which made it more interesting and more entertaining for us at least. We started at our house, then we went to…

Taneeyah: The town center nearby. It has lights so it set the scenery for a Christmas vibe. Yeah it was fun because this time, we had friends. The first music video, we didn’t.

Krissy: The first music video, it wasn’t last minute but it wasn’t well planned out. We didn’t really get to plan…

Meniyah: The different angles.

Taneeyah: This music video, we had a lot of planning for this one so it was more planned out than the first one.

AllHipHop: 3 things you guys need in the studio at all times?

Krissy: I need my phone, that’s one thing.

Meniyah: Yeah, I mostly write my lyrics on there. We come up with different ideas in the studio too, we just plop them down in our phone. We share it with each other so phone for sure. Also…

Krissy: A fan, it’s hot. [laughs]

Meniyah: And water!

Taneeyah: Yes: fan, water, phone.

AllHipHop: What about snacks?

All: Oh yeah!

Krissy: Every now and then.

Taneeyah: We try not to eat before we sing because we don’t want to mess it up.

AllHipHop: Eating messes up your voice?

Everyone: Yes!

Taneeyah: Salty snacks and stuff, that’s not good for your voice.

AllHipHop: How was it performing for your school?

Taneeyah: Krissy you want to talk about it? This one right here…

Krissy: I have horrible stage fright in front of certain people.

Taneeyah: That was our first time performing in front of our school.

Krissy: Yeah I could perform for people I don’t know, like random people.

Meniyah: We usually have more of a dancing side when we perform. That was really a new [experience].

Krissy: I haven’t touched the stage — well yes I have, but not in front of…

Meniyah: You know how they call out the athletes?

Taneeyah: Most of her team doesn’t even know she sings. She was nervous.

AllHipHop: How do you get over your nerves?

Krissy: Umm, I don’t. I just deal with it.

Taneeyah: She needs to keep practicing music. We need to do more stuff like that so she can get over it. That’s what she needs.

AllHipHop: I would imagine you guys are sitting on hella music, what can we expect?

Krissy: We can’t give you too much information but just know, you’ll hear when you hear.

Meniyah: We got a more upbeat type song coming out. We’re working on more songs like that. We got some recorded.

Taneeyah: We got some heat coming out, y’ll stay tuned for that.

Krissy: Stay tuned! We can’t let you know too much information. We got to keep y’all anxious.

Taneeyah: This one’s gonna be more upbeat than what we usually do. We had to switch it up.

Nicki Minaj And Billionaire Kim Kardashian’s Business Manager Murdered in California

Rapper Nicki Minaj’s business manager was found dead, and it appears to be a murder.

The woman, who took care of the businesses portfolios of top clients like the “Monster” artist and billionaire Kim Kardashian West, was 55 at the time of her pre-holiday death.

According to Variety, Angela “Angie” Kukawski, from Boulevard Management, has died, a Ventura County Coroner has confirmed.

A source shared that the cause of death seems to be homicide linked to an altercation on December 22nd in Van Nuys and Simi Valley.

The Angelino News reported that a woman’s body was found in Simi Valley. The SVPD had been working with the LAPD to find the person responsible for the death of the “Jane Doe.”

This collaboration led to them identifying and arresting a suspect for the murder on Thursday, December 23rd.

They connected in the middle of the night/ early that morning, around 2 a.m., to work on the case. It is believed that the man in question allegedly brought the body to the Simi Valley neighborhood, where she was discovered.

The outlet reports:

LAPD officers contacted Simi Valley police around 2 a.m. to tell the local department they were coming into town to investigate a murder that was reported in the Van Nuys neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. About an hour later, the LAPD notified local police that they had found the suspect’s vehicle in the 1500 block of Patricia Avenue in Simi Valley. The block is south of Los Angeles Avenue, between Erringer Road and First Street. A woman in her fifties was found dead with a stab wound in the trunk of the car, LAPD officials said.”

It is believed that the suspect drove from Van Nuys to the woman’s relatives’ home in Simi Valley. Los Angeles police arrested him at the house where the murder may have happened.

An LA County inmate intake filing states that the 49-year-old suspect is a white male and is being held on a $2 million bond.

Angela “Angie” Kukawski clients include the following big names: Nicki Minaj, rappers Kanye West and Offset, and, for a time, the Kardashians as well as the estate of Tupac Shakur.

NAS: AllHipHop’s 2021 Emcee Of The Year

Chhod Na Rehne De GIFs - Get the best GIF on GIPHY

What more can be said about Nas? Plenty. The legendary rapper released a new album just in time for Christmas and ended 2021 on a note higher than Mariah Carey smoking with Redman. Magic, Nasir’s second release this year, was a shock to Hip-Hop’s respiratory system. More importantly, the album adds to the legendary discography that the 48-year old Queens negative already has. The 9-song album, again produced by Hit-Boy, has Nas rapping as if he is a young, hungry lion, not a near-billionaire pushing 50.

Perhaps that is where purpose enters the chat.

To quote the fictional god of mischief Loki, Nas is likely “burdened with glorious purpose” and his ferocity is proof. The rapper mogul also released King’s Disease II in August and the opus made him an instant contender for 2021 Album of the Year. Also, the Queens legend finally won his first Grammy for Best Rap Album for King’s Disease, released on his Mass Appeal Records imprint. He had been nominated 13 times before the 2021 ceremony.

Let’s talk about Nas as the quintessential rapper’s rapper.

Nas made his debut 30 years ago this year on an Earth-shaking song called “Live At The BBQ,” a posse cut by Main Source. Rapping over Large Professor’s legendary beat, Nas made one of the most seismic impacts ever seen with a single verse. As we see Nas today, with a fresh, infectious energy coupled with riches literally untold, he’s the epitome of evolution. An OG with a fresh face. Youthful vigor with the skills of a master. Sleeps on satin sheets, but still gets up to work out.

Nas is representative of a bigger picture, something that may escape the layperson, the voyeur, the neophyte, or even the OG that wallows in the memory of hearing a 16-year Queensbridge emcee old brag about snuffin’ Jesus. Hip-Hop is youth-driven, wrought with ageism. Nas is getting better like Frank Miller’s Dark Knight with Hit-Boy has his metaphoric Robin in a Dystopian world full of mass shootings, Civil War, and a raging pandemic. And still a pure spitter rises.

Nas’s crown is not coming off his head anytime soon, but keep watching. How can someone with nothing left to prove, 30 years in the game, rhyme like he still has everything to prove? One day, we’ll ask.

J. Cole

J. Cole

J. Cole, the human Halley’s Comet, did not come to play in 2021. The Off-Season  did exactly what it was supposed to do: restore order. Also affirmed that in this era of disposable music, quality still matters. He lightened up a bit, pullng 21 Savage, Lil Baby, Cam’Ron and others into the fold. Rooted in honestly and sincerity, he managed to stay so true to himself that he briefly played pro basketball in Africa. Also, as an emcee, it never hurt to be annointed by Nas, who recently rapped “Me, Jay-Z, and Frank White (Biggie) is like Cole, Drizzy (Drake), and Kenny (Kendrick Lamar).” Nuff said.

Mozzy

Mozzy a monster. Period. He might be the King of Cali right now, but he is probably too humble to admit it. The Sac Town native kicked off 2021 by releasing the single “Bompton to Oak Park” and it finally materialized into the joint album Kommunity Service in the spring. They he dropped Untreated Trauma, his highest charting album to date. Mozzy demonstrated tremendous growth, introspection and rock-solid hood credentials to lock him in as one of 2021’s finest.

Tyler The Creator

Tyler The Creator wanted to be unabashedly Tyler, but also get the attention of the die-hard Hip-Hop fan. So, he mushed both into one work of art, Call Me If You Get Lost. The album is fashioned as a mixtape, putting his lyrical talents on full blast, but also cementing it in the streets with co-pilot DJ Drama. A notable performance at the BET Hip-Hop Awards reinforced Tyler’s versatility and creativity as an emcee.

D-Smoke

D-Smoke

D-Smoke took the lemons of 2021 and dipped them in gold. The Inglewood rapper popped off the year with a PPV event, “The Black Habits Experience.” It was a result of his inablilty to tour in support of his critially acclaimed, Grammy nominated album Black Habits, which dropped in 2020. After setting the tone, he put the breadth of his talents and musicianship on full display. Then, he dropped the magical War & Wonders, a jazz-infused, thoughtful, and, at times, braggadocious. Regardless, D-Smoke found his square, stood on it and has yet to be moved.

The AllHipHop Staff contributed to the compliation of this illustrious list.

Zonjjy – UK Rapper Drops a Wavy Song & Music Video “Trust Me”

UK singer-songwriter and rapper Zonjjy has made it again with his wavy hit song and music video Trust me. He is the one to look out for from 2022 and onwards. The song is Dark, metaphorical, catchy, slick, and kind of a unique genre of his own. He is rap-singing on a trap RnB soul beat. He talks about money and fame and he is now in control of his future after he faced a lot of trouble with the law and haters.

The lyrics and the video speak for themselves. You gonna like this song whether you are in the United Kingdom, America, or Worldwide. This track hits you differently. His British accent and the way he sings and raps are what made the song stands out, even more than American rappers I think. Enough said about it. Trust me1 You should click on the music video below and watch it. @zonjjy

Cardi B’s Throwback Stripper Photos Go Viral On Social Media

Hip Hop superstar Belcalis “Cardi B” Almánzar has never been shy about embracing her past as an exotic dancer. Cardi’s breakout single, “Bodak Yellow” from 2017, centered around her rise from the strip club to making money moves as a mainstream entertainer.

Yesterday, Cardi B reminded her 20.8 million Twitter followers about her days as a stripper. The 29-year-old Invasion of Privacy album creator shared a picture from 2014 where she is surrounded by large piles of $1 bills.

Cardi B’s throwback photo collected over 11,000 retweets and 155,000 likes on the social media platform. With the simple “2014” caption the rapper’s intent once again appeared to be about celebrating her journey from being a “regular, degular, shmegular” girl from The Bronx to being a Grammy-winning multimillionaire.

Another old photo of Cardi B is currently going viral on Twitter too. The “me if… was a job” meme features another picture of a younger Belcalis sitting around a lot of cash. For this trend, people expressed their fandom for certain celebrities, television shows, or other pop culture content by comparing it to Cardi’s commitment to racking up money.

For example, @etarauhls tweeted, “Me if supporting Justin Bieber was a job.” @melsperalta posted, “Me if watching Brooklyn 99 was a job.” @smgiscoming wrote, “Me if defending Selena Gomez was a job.” @residxnt_evil shared, “Me if playing Resident Evil was a job.”

Over the last several days, countless Twitter accounts created and/or retweeted a “me if… was a job” tweet. Fans of fellow Hip Hop figures like Kanye West, Young Thug, and Lil Peep also jokingly shared their obsession with their favorite music performer.

Pro Football Hall Of Famer John Madden Dies At 85

Celebrated football coach and sportscaster John Madden died on December 28 at the age of 85. According to the NFL, Madden’s passing was unexpected. A cause of death was not revealed.

John Madden served as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders (now Las Vegas Raiders) for ten seasons from 1969 to 1978. He led the franchise to the Super Bowl XI championship in 1977.

“The Raiders Family is deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary John Madden. Few individuals meant as much to the growth and popularity of professional football as Coach Madden, whose impact on the game both on and off the field was immeasurable,” read a statement released by Las Vegas Raiders.

Besides his career as a Hall of Fame coach, John Madden also became the voice of the NFL when he took on the role of color commentator for live telecasts beginning in 1979. The Minnesota-born author of books such as All Madden: Hey, I’m Talking Pro Football! covered eleven Super Bowls and won 16 Emmy Awards.

“On behalf of the entire NFL family, we extend our condolences to Virginia, Mike, Joe, and their families. We all know him as the Hall of Fame coach of the Oakland Raiders and broadcaster who worked for every major network, but more than anything, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,” stated NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

John Madden also became a pop culture icon for being the inspiration for EA Sports’ popular Madden NFL video game series. This past January, Hip Hop star Snoop Dogg and NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace were among the celebrities to compete in the Pro Bowl: The Madden NFL 21 Edition gaming event.

EA Sports released the following statement:

Today, we lost a hero. John Madden was synonymous with the sport of football for more than 50 years. His knowledge of the game was second only to his love for it, and his appreciation for everyone that ever stepped on the gridiron. A humble champion, a willing teacher, and forever a coach. Our hearts and sympathies go out to John’s family, friends, and millions of fans. He will be greatly missed, and always remembered, and never forgotten.

Lil Durk’s “Broadway Girls” Featuring Morgan Wallen Tops Several Rap Song Charts

2021 saw Country singer Morgan Wallen crossover to the mainstream with his chart-topping, award-winning Dangerous: The Double Album. However, there were also calls to cancel Wallen after he was caught on video using the word “n#####” with his friends.

Because of the n-word controversy, some people gave Hip Hop star Lil Durk the side-eye when he decided to record a song with Morgan Wallen. A single called “Broadway Girls” by the two artists still landed on DSPs two weeks ago.

In contrast to critics of the collaboration, the Rap-Country union was apparently embraced by a significant amount of music fans. Lil Durk and Morgan Wallen’s “Broadway Girls” peaked at No. 1 on several Billboard charts this week.

“Broadway Girls” currently holds the #1 position on the most recent Hot Rap Songs chart, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, Rap Digital Song Sales chart, and R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart. Durk and Wallen’s duet also debuted at #14 on the all-genre Hot 100 rankings.

Morgan Wallen assisted Lil Durk in getting his first Number One on the Hot Rap Songs rankings. The Chicago-raised rhymer previously peaked at #2 on that chart as a guest feature on Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” and DJ Khaled’s “Every Chance I Get” with Lil Baby.

“Broadway Girls” is Lil Durk’s first chart-topper on the Rap Digital Song Sales and R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales weekly tallies as well. The Charles Handsome-produced song is Durk’s second No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart following “Laugh Now Cry Later” reaching the top spot in 2020.

In addition, the “Broadway Girls” music video amassed nearly 5 million YouTube views since its premiere on December 20. As of press time, the visuals are listed as the #5 trending content in the platform’s music section.

Danny Brown Disputes Dave Chappelle’s Weed Smoking Story From Big Sean’s ‘Detroit 2’

Detroit 2, Big Sean’s 2020 studio LP, garnered positive feedback from fans and pundits. Special guests like Eminem, Post Malone, Young Thug, Travis Scott, and Lil Wayne helped the sequel to 2012’s Detroit mixtape open at #1 on the Billboard 200.

Big Sean also tapped legendary comedian Dave Chappelle for a storytelling session on Detroit 2. The “Story by Dave Chappelle” track features the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor winner recalling smoking marijuana backstage with Detroit-bred emcee Danny Brown.

Dave Chappelle said:

I’m sittin’ in the dressing room at the Fillmorе. And there’s an older gentleman in there. And I don’t really talk to the guy much, but he was a nice guy. Cool energy, s### like that. And then, famed Detroit rapper Danny Brown came in. Now at this time, I wasn’t that familiar with Danny Brown’s music, so when he asked me to smoke with him, I just smoked with him. I didn’t hear all that “Adderall Admiral” and all that s###. I didn’t know he was about that life.

I’m assuming it’s weed, I don’t know what the f### it was. But, boy, I mean, I smoked weed a million times in my life. Never, ever remember feeling this way before. And as I was walking on stage, I told my road manager, “You know, my number’s up tonight.” He’s like, “What does that mean?” “I’m going to bomb.” And true to my professional prescription, I did. But, there’s bombing and then there’s the s### that happens in Detroit.

Danny Brown Seems To Think Dave Chappelle Got Some Parts Of The Story Wrong

Danny Brown spoke about that infamous meeting with Dave Chappelle during a recent interview with HotNewHipHop. The “Detroit vs. Everybody” spitter stated, “It was funny, but I ain’t like that s###, [laughs] because that ain’t the true story [laughs]. I’ll tell my side in my stand-up set.”

While Danny Brown is now downplaying Dave Chappelle’s anecdote, he once took pride in being connected to that narrative when Chappelle brought it up during The Age of Spin Netflix comedy special in 2017. Brown wrote on Instagram at the time, “Haven’t seen [Dave’s] new special but heard he gotta bit about that night I got him stoned to the gills… momma I made it!!!”

Before he hits the stage to perform his own comedic routine, Danny Brown is preparing to release his next musical body of work tentatively titled Quaranta. He is also set to take part in a returning Red Bull SoundClash event against the DMV’s Rico Nasty on December 15.

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” Becomes First Song To Hit No. 1 In Four Different Years

Another day, another history-making moment for Mariah Carey. The iconic R&B/Pop vocalist once again sits atop the Hot 100 chart dated January 1, 2022, with “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

Mariah Carey’s 1994 single first climbed to the top of the Billboard weekly rankings in 2019. The classic holiday tune also led the Hot 100 chart in 2020 and 2021.

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” is now the first song in history to reach #1 in four different calendar years. The Merry Christmas album track has spent a total of seven weeks at the top of the Hot 100, extending Mariah Carey’s all-time record of most cumulative weeks at No. 1 to 86.

“Thank you, Santa and the lambs for this extra festive gift to end the year!!! 🥳☃️❤️,” tweeted Mariah Carey in response to the news of her latest career milestone. The Songwriters Hall of Famer added, “Feeling blessed and elated. Another week at #1 on the Hot 100! Thank you Lambily… ‘Love you till the end of time.’ ❤️🦋🎄🐑🌈🙏🏽.”

Earlier this month, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” crossed the impressive 1 billion-streams-mark on Spotify. Plus, the Recording Industry Association of America certified “All I Want for Christmas is You” as Diamond (10 million units) on December 3, 2022.

Mariah Carey also cemented herself as the first artist to earn a #1 song in four different decades when “All I Want For Christmas Is You” made it to #1 on the Hot 100 chart in 2019. She has nineteen Number Ones on the Hot 100 chart which is the most for any act in history.
