Rap Star Cordae Celebrates As Girlfriend Naomi Osaka Wins US Open

(AllHipHop News) There is something wonderful about young love.

Something even greater to see young people about their business while they have love on their minds.

That is particularly true with tennis star Naomi Osaka and her rapper boyfriend, Cordae.

As the biracial champion (Haitian and Japanese) took up her racket against Victoria Azarenka at the US Open, she was permitted one special guest.

And rapper Cordae was super happy to cheer from the stand for his lady, as she smashed her way to her second US Open title in two years.

It has been a little over a year since Cordae and Naomi Osaka started dating.

His affection was on full display as he went full boo-thang, pumping his fist as she beat Victoria Azarenka to clinch the coveted trophy.

She posted the moment on her Instagram, “this is crazy.”

Like many others, Naomi Osaka has used her platform as a professional athlete to draw attention to the tremendous police-involved violence perpetrated against Black and Brown people.

Each match, she wore masks with Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd’s names on them.

Judge Confirms, Kanye West Loses Wisconsin…By Seconds!

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West’s journey to be the 46th president of the United States has hit another bump in the road.

A Wisconsin judge has ruled that he does not qualify to be on the ballot this upcoming November.

The judge made his ruling on Friday, September 11, thus reaffirming a decision made by a bipartisan state elections commission.

Ye did not meet the requirements because he submitted his ballot just seconds after the 5 p.m. filing deadline.

“The unfortunate fact is this dispute could have been avoided had the West representatives simply arrived earlier,” Brown County Circuit Judge John Zakowski ruled. “Candidates need to plan ahead and arrive in time to get into the building and file the papers in the office of the commission prior to the deadline, there are no exceptions under the statute or the relevant case law.”

The court had already put a hold on the mailing of absentee ballots because there is another dispute surrounding another candidate Howie Hawkins, who is representing The Green Party.

Wisconsin is a swing state that was won by President Trump in 2016.

This year, the polls show that this contest will be narrow again and the Democrat’s concern is that both West and Hawkins will siphon votes from their presidential nominee, Joe Biden.

During the 2016 election, The Green Party’s candidate Jill Stein received 31,006 votes in Wisconsin, helping Donald Trump win over Hillary Clinton by 22,177.

October 29th is the last day for most voters to ask for a ballot by mail and returned ballots must be received by 8 p.m. (the time polls close) on Election Day, November 3rd.

Tyrese & Tupac: A Brief Tale Of Synchronicity

(AllHipHop Features) Tyrese, the singer, actor, and businessman, has found his way to the front once again. He’s not only a chart-topper and a box office winner but a soul that cares. His latest moves speak to all sides of his personality.

Tyrese, who is now a seasoned vet, will chronicle his career in a new episode of TVONE’s “Uncensored,” a trip from his humble beginnings in Watts, CA to the highest highs of Hollywood. With frank honesty, reflects and tells his story in his own words. He also, recalls his relationship with Afeni Shakur, the godmother of his first child.  (TV One’s docu-series airs  Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 10 P.M. ET/9C and re-airs on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 10 PM/9C.)

He recently released a powerful new song, “Legendary” featuring Cee-Lo Green, which pays homage to Breonna Taylor, Trayvon Martin, George Floyd and other victims of police brutality. If Tupac Shakur was alive, he would certainly speak on these terrible acts against humanity. Tyrese reveals to AllHipHop how he came to meet the legend in a moment of fate. Check out the comments below and look for the lengthy interview later as we delve into weightier topics with the legendary entertainer.

Tyrese: I was at a pre-BET Awards party. On Melrose. Underage. Wasn’t supposed to be in club because that was all of 16-17 years old. Right after I did the Coke commercial. At the time before digital cameras, we had some photos you take and you had to wind it up. Those yellow, yellow joints.

AllHipHop: By the way, I had a picture of Jake Pinkett Smith from that era and it failed me. Sorry, I had to say that since we’re talking about the Pac connection.

Tyrese: But that’s that’s what’s crazy because that’s what almost happened to me. So took a picture, with the disposable camera that you’re supposed to drop off at Kmart or Walmart. Walmart wasn’t around at the time, Target whatever. So, Pac walks in this bar on Melrose, pre-BET party. Everybody started buzzing because he (Pac) showed up with a whole entourage. I think this was long before Death Row. Or maybe after Death Row. I’m getting my timelines backwards, whatever. So I’m like, “Oh sh#t, Pac.” Walking in. On the West Coast that’s like, Baby Jesus walking in the room, you what I mean? Showed up 20 deep, no matter who he showed up with, they let them in. So as I’m standing in this particular place, Pac is walking in my direction. I said to the girl that I was with, “Pull out your camera, wind it up, get it ready.” He walks in. We take the picture. I shake his hand. And I say, “Yo, man, I love you, bro. You mean the world to us on the West Coast, man.” [Pac said, “Thank yo, bruh.” Gave him some love. Pac walks away. I don’t remember seeing him. I just remember he walked in and just kind of went away.

AllHipHop: Wow.

Tyrese: I was going through something at the time and probably eight years later. I said, yo, I want to take all of my yellow cameras, disposable camera, but I never went to the store. Now, I want to go get all of the photos from everything here printed up. Found that windup camera with the picture to Pac. Could not believe eight years later, I have the photo with Tupac.

AllHipHop: Right, right.

Tyrese: The one and only photo. I’m not gonna sit on the phone and say we were homies, we were texting [or] I met him multiple times. We’ve ever been on a phone call together. I’m gonna sit here and fake it till I make it and paint that picture. But I will also say rest in peace Johnny J. who got killed while he was in prison. I got my Tupac plaque up on the wall. Because I did a song called “Never Call You B#tch Again,” singing on the hook with Tupac on his album called Better Dayz. [Shows plaque on the wall.]

Dave East Accuses Delta Of Hiring Racist Trump Supporters As Flight Attendants

(AllHipHop News) After being kicked off of a Delta flight, Harlem rapper Dave East is calling out the airlines for practicing bigoted behavior.

Dave took to his social media to post a video of the incident claiming that the crew racially profiled him. They didn’t think that he belonged in first-class.

No details are shared but what is captured in his three-minute recording of the aftermath as a gang of police officers lined up outside of the plane door, in the corridor connecting the plane to the terminal, next to the very polite captain.

His team is seen trying to rationalize with what looks to be an attendant and other passengers even tried to defend Nas’ protegé.

He wrote on his IG, “RACISM… @delta Fucc Delta! Racist Ain’t Even The Word! This Jamaican Man Defending me and He dont even know me!!!! He watched the racist harassment!!!! Delta Airlines Y’all Need To Stop Hiring these racist, stupid, ignorant TRUMP supporters that get nervous when they see a PERSON OF COLOR in first class!!! B##ch just ask me what I want to drink and keep it pushing!!!! S##t got me Hot”

There is no word from Delta Airlines or Dave’s camp about the resolve.

Demetrius Shipp Jr. On Preparing For Tupac Role & New Movie “Cut Throat City”

It’s baffling to think Demetrius Shipp Jr. had no prior acting experience before landing his standout role as Tupac in the movie “All Eyez On Me,” but everything happens for a reason.

When the opportunity presented itself, the Carson, California native did whatever he needed to do to land the part, which included pulling up old Tupac interviews and practicing his speech and mannerisms side by side. Of course, he had to spit like him too.

Since then, the actor and music producer has found much success in the realms of television and film, playing Tyrone on “All-American” and starring in the new movie “Cut Throat City,” which was directed by Wu-Tang Clan’s founder, RZA.

The latter is an action-packed cinema as Shipp plays one of four friends who returns to New Orleans after the disaster of Hurricane Katrina. For Demetrius, working with legends such as Ethan Hawke, Terrence Howard, and Wesley Snipes was a dream in itself.

The irony is Shipp’s been producing music since the age of 16, following in the footsteps of his father who produces as well.

While he aspired to be like his pops, acting damn near fell into his life. AllHipHop caught up with Demetrius at the Kandypens house in Los Angeles to discuss how he exactly became Tupac, being a fan of his new movie “Cut Throat City,” fatherhood, and more!

AllHipHop: Being from Carson, what was the household like growing up?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: I’ve lived in numerous places. I grew up in Carson, where I spent the majority of my teenage years. I’ve lived in Long Beach, Lakewood, Moreno Valley. I moved around Paramount. Carson is like the rich ghetto. [laughs] The upper echelon hood. When I actually stayed in Carson, I was living with my grandparents. It was cool, I grew up in the church. Both of my grandparents from my mom’s side and my dad’s side were pastors.

AllHipHop: How was being a grand-PK?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: Growing up in that world, it’s its own world within itself. Not just “oh I go to church,” I’m talking about everything. Given my grandparents are pastors, I got exposed to how it works. Actually being a drummer myself, participating, I got to see the inner workings of how church works. I was exposed to the streets, a lot of different things very young. My dad being an entertainer and producer, I got to see the entertainment world. Rich people, all these rappers. I remember going to Death Row studios as a kid and knowing: “don’t go in that studio.”

AllHipHop: Really?!

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: Hell yeah, I knew not to go in there. I was around weed and all that, young. I was around Tha Dogg Pound. I went to the studio with my pops for a certain period of time before Death Row got real crazy. I was exposed to a lot very, very young.

AllHipHop: How did you get into acting?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: They had this call for the Tupac role, it was online. My best friend and my cousin kept bugging me about doing it. I said “bro first of all, that’s not even real. Who’s gonna cast a movie and do it from the internet?” [laughs] It became more real as I started to see more people prepare, throw their videos up online everywhere. I wasn’t going to do it, they convinced me. My friend Herm, he was adamant. “Do it!”

AllHipHop: Aren’t you glad he was adamant?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: Yeah. I waited till the last day, we did it at his house. Nobody knew because I hadn’t told anybody. Part of the criteria was you had to upload it to Facebook and YouTube. When I put it on Facebook, everybody’s like “what the f##k? Wow!” My pops seen it, he’s like “what, this is crazy!” He sent it to L.T. Hutton, a producer with him at Death Row and currently the producer over the Tupac movie. L.T. sees it and says “ah man, that’s your son. We have to bring him in. He looks like him, he got the dental work and the whole thing.” 2011, that’s what really got the ball rolling.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CEgPjIMlzdI

AllHipHop: Did you ever think you’d be in this acting world?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: Never in my life. I’ve seen Ethan Hawke on TV watching Training Day, Wesley Snipes. Now I’m on screen with these people, that’s nuts. That’s amazing! Cut Throat City just came out, based on Hurricane Katrina. Damn, where was I at when Hurricane Katrina happened? What year was that? How old was I? I was 16 years old. At 16 if somebody would’ve told me, “hey in 15 years, you’re going to be in a movie based on what’s going on right now, opposite all these people you see on TV and movies,” bruh okay.

AllHipHop: How did the role in “All Eyez On Me change” your life and your career?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: That’s not something I’d seen coming. I wasn’t an aspiring actor. As I got into it and really believed in myself that I could do that role, it’s one of the things that I love. It’s where I’m the most comfortable. I completely love what I do for a living. It’s crazy because in different settings and talking in front of groups, I’d shy away. I wasn’t headed to the front to go perform. It’s crazy to think I became somebody completely comfortable in that world, that’s amazing and I love it.

AllHipHop: Did you feel pressure playing Tupac? Those are some crazy shoes to fill.

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: The pressure was getting the role, 100%. They didn’t even choose me until the last second. I’m a new actor, I’ve never acted in my life and I was playing Pac. The director wasn’t sold on the idea, it was L.T. who said “this guy could do it, he can pull it off.” I had my acting coach Angela Gibbs, she’s amazing. I did the work. I did an interview of Tupac’s and started sending them interviews. I’d sit next to the TV and learn the interviews, write it down. Once I got good enough and got the mannerisms down, I’d record myself doing it along with him next to the TV. I got all that down.

AllHipHop: Can you describe the feeling when you got the role? Did you cry?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: For sure, of course I cried. I’m in my apartment building in Long Beach, my acting coach had told me they’re going to be calling you, you got it.” The head producer over at Morgan Creek called me and said “Congratulations, you got it!’ So much in my life was uncertain, I didn’t have a job to go back to. I was on disability leave at Dish Network. My license was suspended, I had got eviction notices. Everything was all over the place so I’ll always remember that moment.

AllHipHop: Did you have to physically prepare for the Tupac role?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: I had to lose 12 pounds for All Eyez on Me. I was 178 pounds and got down to 163. I had to do cut down, I was dieting. It’s mental, honestly. I worked my ass off every morning and at night, I’d workout and hit the sauna again. I need to get it so I had to make sure I look the part. It’s not hard when you want it.

AllHipHop: New movie “Cut Throat City” is out now. How you feeling?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: I’m excited, that’s amazing. To be included in that cloth of talent and catalog, those people are well-respected in the industry. For me to star in it, I’m not just on screen. I’m one of the first faces you see on the screen, and one of the last faces. I’m thoroughly impressed, it’s a long time coming for that project. We’re working on that back in late 2017, filmed it November 30 to December 21.

AllHipHop: How emotional was it playing Miracle’s character?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: That was a beautiful experience, I made some lifelong relationships there. I watched it last weekend and enjoyed the actual body work itself as a fan. I was more into my character, Miracle. I hate to compare but something with Pac coincides with Miracle where they’ll judge you by the actions, but there are no choices to choose from. Miracle, there’s limited choices so what do you do? I can’t go get a check, there’s no government assistance. Everything’s underwater, but you have to still live. You find yourself doing things you never thought you’d do, out of survival.

AllHipHop: How was it working with Terrence Howard, Wesley Snipes, T.I.?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: Super fire! It was dope to work with Tip because we already had a relationship rapport. I met TIP the first day I got to Atlanta to film All Eyez On Me. I knew somebody really close to Tip. He’s dope as hell, that was cool to work with him on set. Terrance was dope, he’s a whole person within himself.

AllHipHop: I can only imagine!

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: Terrance is somebody who demands attention, he loves it. [laughs] He’s not boring. He’s like “I want to put you up on game, I want to enlighten you.” He’s dope as f##k. That switch for him is fire because you see somebody go from chitchat to once it’s time for work, bam! [snaps] He’s cold. The one thing about Wesley, he’s in tip-top shape at 60 years old. Nobody wants problems with Wesley Snipes, it’s amazing.

AllHipHop: Best memories from the set?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: Having fun and getting that real nice, raw New Orleans feeling. Catching the lingo, being around the people. They had people actually from New Orleans come to set. We filmed right around the corner where New Orleans broke. Being amongst the people, having conversations, learning the slang, how they do things, walking and talking, all that.

AllHipHop: Best memory playing Tyrone in “All-American?”

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: When my grandparents came on set, because they hadn’t seen me so I had them come onto the set one day. That was fire. They treated them so good. They had never seen any production of any kind, so that was a moment.

AllHipHop: I heard they treat you bomb in the film world.

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: TV is beautiful. They feed you 3, 4 times a day. “All-American” had that taco truck on certain nights, I’m eating very good.

AllHipHop: Talk about being a single dad and balancing all that you do.

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: I got three kids: two 6-year-olds and a 10-year-old. Homeschooling is interesting, but I love my kids. I love being a dad. It’s challenging, until it’s not. The challenge is always there. As they get older, they start experiencing and doing more. I had to get on my daughter yesterday, she had a screensaver and it was profanity on there. I’m like “what is this?!” She’s like “I didn’t do that, my cousin did.” Phone off! Go to bed, no more phone. It’s not something you’re going to ever be like, “I got this” Nah, anybody that says that is a liar.

AllHipHop: Biggest lesson you’ve learned in fatherhood?

Demetrius Shipp Jr.: There’s no handbook, you learn as you go. Everybody’s way is different. A lot of it is based on how you were raised, pick up certain traits and certain ways. A lot of that transforms onto you and how you operate as a parent. Be patient with yourself and be patient with your kids, understand the process and try to lead with love. If you lead with love, you have a good chance.

“Lord” Ice Cube Could Now Be Repping Scotland With Land Purchase

(AllHipHop News) Ice Cube has not been feeling the U.S. lately.

President Donald Trump’s America has pulled back the curtains on some really ugly parts of the nation’s psyche.

Ice Cube, whose real name is O’shea Jackson, has done all that he can to progressively push forward an agenda of social.

He even penned an economic reparation plan called: “A Contract with Black America.”

Well, there are people in different countries that love Ice Cube so much that they have gifted him a little piece of land, hoping to offer up a peace of mind that America doesn’t seem to afford him…or other Black folks.

The “Rollin’ wit The Lench Mob” rapper is now the owner of a plot of land in the rolling green hillside of Scotland.

The property is a few miles from the ruins of a place called Huntly Castle, which was once the ancestral home of Clan Gordon.

The N.W.A. founding member said, “It is your homeboy, Ice Cube. Y’all know what it is … [its] the West coast warlord from the West Coast. You know, what I mean … Los Angeles, CA.”

“But did you know that your homeboy is a real ‘Lord,’” he announced.  “Yeah that’s right, a real ‘Lord,’” the multi-hyphenate affirmed before sharing, “Somebody bought me a piece of land in Scotland! That makes me a real ‘Lord.’

“If you wanna be a real ‘Lord’ like me. you should go to establishedtitles.com and be a real ‘Lord’ like your homeboy Ice Cube.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/B81FKatB4qH

A “Laird”, a Scottish term, or “Lord” is a title reserved for those who own larger estates or pieces of land in Scotland.

No word on if Scotland will support his reparations contract, even if he is a landowner in the country.

Regardless, Cube has been invited to tour the Huntly Castle when he touches down in the country.

“We’d be happy to welcome Ice Cube to the historic Huntly Castle next time he’s in the neighborhood,” a spokesperson for the Huntly Castle told the Evening Express.

Naesketchie: From Nightlife To Entrepreneur & Music Management

Naesketchie is a music mogul in his own right. The Bronx, New York native comes from humble beginnings, promoting and throwing events and parties in Uptown and Bronx New York utilizing his sister’s apartment.

By charging a small cover at the door, Naesketchie was soon able to find another stream of income that would cancel out the event expenses.

He is Dominican and Turkish, with a mother and father who moved from The Dominican Republic to give him and his sister a better life. This was a motivation in itself to achieve success by any means necessary.

Fast forward to 2020, his own hustler, go-getter mentality would trickle down into the entrepreneur and music manager he is today. Through his decade and a half long life span in the nightlife scene, he was always a socialite — networking and fostering meaningful relationships.

Now he’s blessed to be able to manage his niece, R&B artist Angelica Vila, who is signed to Roc Nation and just released her first studio album deception SZN one.

AllHipHop caught up with Naesketchie for his first interview ever.

AllHipHop: How did you get that name?

Naesketchie: That name came from graffiti. I used to be called Blink because every time I’d fight, I’d blink my eye. One day I was doing graffiti on a nyc wall and because my name was so long, I lasted so long to write it up.

The cops had pulled up, you already know what happened after that. I decided to change my name, I said “I’m going to shorten my name to Nae.” Sketchie came off of graffiti, like graph. Sketchy with a ‘y’ is a weird person you can’t trust, sketchie with the ‘ie’ is somebody that sketches. People get that confused most of the time.

AllHipHop: Being from the Bronx, how did you first get into nightlife?

Naesketchie: When my sister got divorced from her husband, we started doing parties at her crib charging $2 or $3 dollars to get in. We got maxed out with people so we started renting out halls. We started doing lounges, and started getting recognized by local lounges. They let us put an event in their venue. I started booking big celebrities DJs like Precise, DJ Prostyle, I Boogs, Dannys, and many more at the time. I started getting my name recognized through shoutouts on the radio, I kept going and going. Angelica Vila is my niece. It was a random day at the crib, I’m like “I always wanted an artist, you should start singing and doing YouTube videos.

We started doing videos, putting them up online. Getting her music out there, because I’m already cool with DJs at my events and the nightlife. They’re playing her records, she’ll do a lot of covers. I get a lot of people to repost. She was doing the 15 second videos on Instagram when it first started, then Instagram started putting the minutes up. 15 seconds of her singing what she’s thinking of, then 30 seconds and kept going and kept going. A lot of artists seen her voice as beautiful.

One time, Pretty Lou (one of the biggest hosts in NYC, from Hot 97) had posted her, one of our cover videos. Fat Joe seen it, we had a meeting. He decided to sign her, then did a collaboration with Roc Nation. Now she’s signed to Roc Nation and Joe, I still manage her day to day.

AllHipHop: What was your reaction to Fat Joe’s cosign of her?

Naesketchie: We’re in a studio session with Pretty Lou, Joe pulled up. He told her “yo give me something, sing to me.” She started singing to him. Joe’s wife was like: “you gotta sign her!” It took us a couple of months, but we signed with him and had a great deal. From there, been pushing and pushing and pushing.

AllHipHop: What’s the premise of Sketchie Entertainment?

Naesketchie: Sketchie Entertainment is a nightlife management company. It’s overruled everything for me. I got my record label the same name as my entertainment label for the fact that I want to stick to Sketchie Entertainment all around. Sketchie is special to me, it grew with me. Defining my hard work and leadership, to start a brand new name just because it is a different type of income makes no sense to me. I feel Like I will leave every hard work I did before down.

AllHipHop: How did nightlife help you in this entertainment space?

Naesketchie: It helped me a lot, not just being a promoter. Me being out there in the world, going hard with the culture. I was getting awards, I was getting recognized. I’m a promoter, I already booked these DJs right? If I’m a regular person and I tell the DJ to play the record, he’s going to think about it and charge me. Not me, they’re going to support. They support what I do because I’m already booking them, we have that relationship for a reason.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BqbKDGSgWH2

AllHipHop: You’ve been trying to do your clothing line for years.

Naesketchie: I’ve been busy with Angelica and Sketchie Entertainment nightlife, so I’ve been pushing it back. Now all my friends are saying ”do it, do it, do it!” I needed a special name that’s going to sound amazing. I started Googling animals. I saw a frog like “oh s##t.” Frog in Spanish is maco. How can I mix it around and make it sound high-end? I added an ‘s’, nah I didn’t like it. I put a ‘z’, it sounds amazing.

I stuck with that name, but needed the logo to give it life. I decided to add blue for water, red for fire, and yellow for sun. The name was created by me. For me, Mazco stands for life, beautiful. Something that when you put it on, it makes you feel good. The name is very important to a brand. We’re doing great, a lot of ski masks, face masks, and hats. I’ma going to start doing printed shirts, and jackets since the winter’s coming. It’s been moving, thank God.

AllHipHop: Growing up throwing parties, how has COVID affected your life and career?

Naesketchie: Nightlife is shut down right now so it affected it a lot. There’s really no parties, everything’s stopped. I’m basically spending out of savings, which is cool. It’s not my greatest time ever but I’m pushing through it. I’m not letting nothing put me at that level of stress, then I can’t do it. I’m pushing my masks with Mazco, that’s doing good. But the nightlife business is shut down, I’m not doing any events.

AllHipHop: What else are you working on?

Naesketchie: Working on Angelica, the nightlife, and Mazco original. Maybe getting into stocks one of these days, but not yet. [laughs]

AllHipHop: What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to start their own business?

Naesketchie: The most important part is you have to believe. Believe in your brand. If you don’t believe in your brand, you might as well not even do it. The first mistake is when you doubt your brand. Oh, should I do this? No, you do it and figure it out. If the one piece doesn’t work, go to the second piece. Try it out with the best pieces for you. It’s going to cost an investment, but the investment of longevity is going to be amazing.

50 Cent’s “For Life” Temporarily Shuts Down Due To Coronavirus Fears

(AllHipHop News) At the top of the year, hundreds of film, commercial, and tv productions came to a screeching halt.

And while the coronavirus has seemed to come under management in some workspaces, many companies are moving with a heightened sense of caution due to a rise of this unpredictable virus.

50 Cent’s G-Unit films are such a company.

Sources told TMZ.com executives decided to shut down the production of its ABC show, “For Life,” after “some inconsistent test results, and out of an abundance of caution.”

Unlike his hit STARZ show “Power,” “For Life” focuses on a man who worked within the system to vindicate a great wrong down to him.

Based on the real-life experience of Isaac Wright Jr., a man who was once falsely accused of being a drug dealer (you know Ghost was slanging) and sentenced to life in prison.

While he served his time in jail, he taught himself law, defended his own innocence, and overturned his hefty conviction.

Fif’s show is fictionalized but taps into this hyper-inspirational tale of how to get up from a systemically racial knockdown.

Considering the high regard for “For Life” and the basic lives for their cast and crew, it is no wonder that the studio is taking great concern for everyone’s well-being.

The production was shooting in Fif’s home borough of Queens.

However, the rapper turned power executive (pun intended), is reported to not have appeared on the set.

Piggy Is The Next Female MC Out Of Cleveland

If you love the CityGirls, then you love Piggy. Introducing the newest, hottest rapper out of Cleveland, Ohio, The “Go Fren” recording artist has the sweetest sou. She’s a laidback, chill, “don’t take no s##t” kind of gal.

Staying in her lane and minding her own business has allowed her to rap freely and create bangers that listeners can’t get enough of, a complete 180 from her previous life.

She states, “I grew up seeing people get killed, a typically hood story basically. I grew up fighting, I was a fighter. I’m trying to overcome that now, change and not let that define who I am.”

Play any of Piggy’s records, and you’ll without a doubt feel the energy, the bars, the attitude, and the vibe. These aren’t just bangers, there are bad b##ch anthems.

With songs like “Mustache,” she’s heard talking her s##t that’s both ratchet and classy at the same damn time. With a nice little buzz in her city, Piggy is well on her way to prove she can spit just as hard as all these rappers today.

AllHipHop caught up with Piggy, who was indoors hiding from the storm happening outside in Cleveland. Read below as we discuss her upbringing, love for Lil Kim, new single “Go Fren,” doing it for her family, and more!

AllHipHop: You’re from Cleveland, what were you seeing growing up?

Piggy: Violence, I saw people get killed. I grew up fighting, I was a fighter. I grew up seeing people get killed, a typical hood story basically. I got caught up in the mix a lot. For a minute I had, I was doing good. I was a smart girl, I’d graduated high school. I won over $40K in scholarships.

I went to school, got caught up with some wrong people. Last year I had caught 3 F1 cases for fighting, felonious assaults, aggravated robberies. I got all types of felonies on my record, I got caught up in some trouble. I’m trying to overcome that now, change who I am and not let that define who I am.

AllHipHop: Did you just get mad and end up swinging?

Piggy: Usually, I do be the aggressor a lot. These situations lately were chicks mad about dudes, wanting to fight over dudes, stuff going left. Me end up winning and them end up getting hurt and press charges. It’s cool, I know not to mess with them type of dudes no more. [laughs]

AllHipHop: Coming up, who did you listen to?

Piggy: Me, I love Lil Kim a lot. Lil Kim is my favorite. I like J Cole too. I like Biggie.

AllHipHop: What do you like about Lil Kim?

Piggy: I loved everything, I love her. She was a gangster rapper, I feel like that’s who I am. [laughs]

AllHipHop: When did did you get into music and rapping?

Piggy: I used to rap in high school. Me and my friends used to rap, we used to play around. Couple years after I graduated, this dude from the neighborhood Pooh Gutta had asked me to get on a song with him called “Madd.” I got on a song with him, it went good. People liked me so I kept going.

A year ago, I tried to become more serious. When I caught them cases, that motivated me to do something else because my record’s so messed up. Okay I’m in college, I’ma graduate with a Bachelors, but I got abduction. I had to cop out to abduction, that sounds crazy. I needed to figure out something else to do, that’s when it became serious.

AllHipHop: What was the inspiration behind your name?

Piggy: It’s my nickname, I grew up with this name. When the guy from the neighborhood put me on his song, he said Piggy. That’s the name I kept. His name’s Pooh Gutta, a popular rapper from Cleveland. I got it from when I was little, I guess I was fat. [laughs] Forreal.

AllHipHop: You just released “Mustache,” who or what inspired this one?

Piggy: That record is fried. [laughs] People love that record up here. A guy from Cleveland presented me the idea of the song, I went with it and I added my own to it. It’s true!

https://www.instagram.com/p/CEuJWXCBjPL

AllHipHop: Talk about your new single, “Go Fren.”

Piggy: This is a celebration song: hyping your friend up, supporting your friend. It can be for men I guess, but it’s for women. Pumping your friend up, don’t forget who you are type song.

AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio?

Piggy: I need everybody to get out. I need space. I need some hot wings: fried hard, all flats. I need a good engineer and herb, herb’s cool.

AllHipHop: What would you be doing if you weren’t doing music?

Piggy: I’d be in school hopefully. I’ll be trying find a real job somewhere. I always wanted to be a housewife. [laughs] That sounds stupid.

AllHipHop: You got a man?

Piggy: Yeah, I have a boyfriend. He pushes me everyday to go harder and take it more serious. When I’m discouraged, he always pumps me up and keeps me going. Making me realize who I am.

AllHipHop: Where do you want to be career-wise?

Piggy: I want to be able to provide for my family. I wanna help my mom, my sister. I got a nephew. My brother’s incarcerated for something he didn’t do. He has 23 years in prison. He’s been there since he was 16, he’s 30 now. I want to help him. I want to help my family, I want to be able to provide and open doors for them too.

AllHipHop: How is the independent grind?

Piggy: The guy I’m signed to helps out a lot. It’s hard because we really don’t know what we’re doing or what direction to go for real. It’s a lot of money getting wasted because we keep messing it up. We keep going in the wrong direction, running into brick walls. Irv came

in and he’s helping us, been making more sense lately.

AllHipHop: Anything else you want people to know?

Piggy: I’m an open book. I want people to be on the lookout for me, they can learn more about me as I release songs. I express myself through my music.

Sources Say Cops Have Over “Irrefutable Evidence” In Megan Thee Stallion Shooting

(AllHipHop News) An arrest could be coming in the shocking shooting of hit rapper Megan thee Stallion, after an altercation with Tory Lanez back in July.

Despite originally keeping his name close to her breast, in late August she identified the Canadian rap/singer as the culprit who shot her in the feet after a house party in the Hollywood Hills.

“Yes, this n##ga Tory shot me,” Megan thee Stallion claimed in a video. “You shot me, and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lyin’ and s##t. Stop lyin’. Why lie?”

According to Alex Spiro, a lawyer for Roc Nation, an active Investigation is underway to bring the gunman to justice.

Spiro has been working with Los Angeles District Attorney’s office and have given up evidence, including witness statements, text messages, a 911 call, video, and medical records.

“I can confirm we have turned over our investigation and files to the LA District Attorney’s office and that we remain concerned that, given the irrefutable evidence, they have yet to take action,” Alex Spiro told The New York Post.

The “WAP” singer says that she did not originally name anyone because of the racial conflict going on in the nation with police.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office stated that they had no updates on the case and that they are still “investigating.”

Tory Lanez people are mums on this, but a text message emerged earlier this week attributed to the Canadian rapper, who allegedly admitted he shot Megan after he got “too drunk.”

Squalla Makes Emphatic Return With New Single “Look At Me”

Coming off a brief, yet worthwhile hiatus, Houston-born, California-living hip-hop artist Squalla makes a monstrous return with his brand new single “Look At Me.”

Always bringing a unique sound and energy to the track, Squalla’s fans can expect the same effort on this Gooney Tunes-produced record.

Equipped with confident bars, a mesmerizing flow, and a perfect backdrop to lay his lyrics down, it’s safe to say the Houston emcee delivered tenfold on his first single release in two years.

First getting his start in 2016 with his debut album Anxiety, Squalla has been hard at work and quickly building a name for himself down south and beyond.

Since the release of his debut, Squalla has received major press coverage across notable platforms, has worked with the likes of Zaytoven and Honorable C Note, and most importantly has began to grow a loyal fanbase supporting his every move.

Cardi B. Hired A P.I. To Stop Aggressive Trump Supporters

(AllHipHop News) President Donald Trump’s supporters have been harassing Cardi B ever since she has started to use her voice to impact change, specifically the presidential election.

On an Instagram Live, the “WAP” rapper mentioned just how insidious Trumpers have been in their cyberbullying.

One even doxxed her, an internet-based practice of researching and publicly broadcasting private or identifying information about someone.

These cyberattacks are malicious and often times the victims in jeopardy.

So is the case of the Bronx-bomber. On her IG story, which has been deleted, she said the following:

“It’s not a secret that I use my platform to get people to vote…I love politics. I endorse the Democratic Party…everybody knows I don’t really f##k with Trump like that.

Y’all don’t see this because y’all don’t be paying attention, but I get harassed by Trump supporters so much. There are some Trump supporters that are like celebrity Trump supporters. They just have huge platforms and they be coming for me every single day. They be degrading me. They be making fun of me. I ignore them. I don’t give a f##k.

S##t gets so intense that a Trump supporter posted my address and encourage people to DOXX my home. To [set] my house on fire. I had to literally hire a private investigator to serve them with a warrant and arrest this boy (Mind you, this boy was a f##king teenager). His parents were f##king shook.”

The celebrity Trump supporter that she was speaking about is Candace Owens. Owens has been jabbing at Cardi for weeks claiming that she is not educated enough to speak on politics.

Cardi has replied to what she considers harassment by saying that the woman, who came to most of the world’s consciousness when she was on TMZ with Kanye West, is clout chasing.

Cardi says that there is a reason why she speaks out and that Owens is riding for the president without yielding the respect that she deserves as an ally:

“This is the reason why I have to stand up. I pay so much money in taxes. I’m a good American. I don’t bother nobody. My little sister … she’s a good American. She don’t bother nobody. She barely posts on Instagram and this girl could not even go to the beach with her girlfriend… in the Hamptons without getting harassed by Trump supporters.

Cardi has since taken the posts down focusing her platform to promote her businesses.

Introducing Florida Indie Label Grateful Records

Introducing the new indie label out of Miami, Florida: Grateful Records. With Six artists on the label — Kvon (also the President), Nolo Proud, Malik Davage, Mulan Vuitton, Quinn, and KT — the group of individuals all started out as students at the Institute of Technology Miami studying music and sound audio engineering.

With a background and education in music, the si artists came together three years ago after realizing the uniqueness and diversity in their sounds. Everyone part of Grateful is hard-working, and creative, with everything done in-house. With their own photographers, videographers, producers, and mix engineers, everything carries a family vibe.

The logo of Grateful Records is reminiscent of the mafia, because that’s how they move. A group of guys who came up from the mud, off the muscle created a castle. When they walk in the room, you’ll feel their presence. From the classiness in the way they dress to the fire music they have in the vault, the artists can’t wait to unleash their forthcoming compilation album. The project is meant to tell the story behind the mafia, describing their lifestyles behind-the-scenes and the reality of being a part of the Grateful mafia.

AllHipHop caught up with the President of the label, Kvon, and their latest signee, Nolo, the latter of whom just released his new single titled “On Yah” featuring Malik and Kvon. The crew recently celebrated with a release party in Atlanta.

AllHipHop: Nolo, where are you from & how’d you get your start in all this?

Nolo: I’m from Florida, Broward County to be exact. I got my start in music at the young age of 11, being obsessed with it. When I finally got to college (SAE), that’s when I met up with everyone else who had a similar drive to mine. From then on I was working as a writer, writing music for other artists. I signed with Grateful and it’s been a lit time since then.

AllHipHop: What sets your guy’s music apart from the rest?

Nolo: The uniqueness in it. What we have going on right now is very diverse. It’s almost hard to put a label on the genre.

Kvon: It transcends, everything‘s done in-house so all our music goes through a pipeline. We have specific people in place to do specific things and specific jobs. Because of that, every sound we make goes through certain hands. When it reaches the end of the tunnel, it’s something you can’t get anywhere else.

Nolo: A masterpiece.

AllHipHop: How many hands does it go through?

Kvon: It depends on the project and what we’re working on. It can go through 2 or 3 hands but everything’s in-house. It goes through our hands, that’s what makes it unique. In order to even come close to the sound we’re pumping out, you’d have to get inside the family somehow,

AllHipHop: Talk about being independent, and the grind behind starting your own label.

Kvon: There’s always going to be ups and downs. We made sure we covered that in the compilation coming up. A lot of the songs are about that. Some are love stories, some are about conflicts within our group. Brother stuff, real close family stuff, it’s a part of coming up and running a label. We’re a family, so the typical issues arise. Sometimes it’s even worse because it’s business. Not everyone can do it, that’s why we remind you of a mafia. We move as a family and we handle business.

AllHipHop: How tight-knit it are you guys?

Kvon: Very tight-knit. [laughs] You’ll see in the compilation and behind-the-scenes how tight we are.

AllHipHop: What can we expect from the “On Yah” music video?

Nolo: A good show. The video quality is impeccable. The story behind a video is a tale of betrayal and business. You’re going to see what happens in that world, how quick things can turn.

Kvon: It involves women and temptation. Plugs new opportunities, big opportunities. Those are the characters of all this.

AllHipHop: Kvon, talk about being both the president and an artist yourself?

Kvon: Sometimes it gets rough but for the most part, I get the best of both worlds. As an artist, my music is more on a lyrical tip. My sound appeals to the new generation, but still holds that traditional hip-hop value. Me being an artist and creative allows me to relate a little more to all the artists. I see the business aspect, I have to buckle down and handle business when it comes time to do that. But I also understand an artist’s perspective better than my colleagues. It’s an interesting dynamic. It gets rough when I have to make certain decisions or tough calls, but I handle it well. That’s why it’s working.

AllHipHop: What are some goals for yourselves at this point?

Kvon: We’re trying to flood the industry, make sure everyone across the whole globe knows who Grateful Records is. We’re hitting billboards hard this year and next year, from every angle. To maintain and stay true to the Grateful sound, and the Grateful model which is CQC. Consistent, quality, content. We want to push out as much content as possible, but we want to maintain quality and consistency.

Nolo: To really explore the realm of music and frequency. I really want to get more into myself as an artist, because you can better yourself every day. Make sure the family eats, that’s the most important. Be the best that I can be, achieve the greatest I can achieve as long as it can feed the pipeline.

AllHipHop: Who’s in your Top 5?

Kvon: Eminem, André 3000, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, DMX.

Nolo: That’s so hard. Andre 3000 because he’s the goat. Lil Wayne, old school Kanye West (classic Kanye), J.Cole, Drake. Smino has my attention right now too.

AllHipHop: What’s one thing fans may not know about you?

Nolo: I’m very active. I’m really into martial arts. I love anything exhilarating that involves adrenaline.

AllHipHop: How long have you been doing martial arts?

Nolo: Since I was 18, I was into dojo. Before that, I was teaching myself. I never had the funds for it until I was 18. I wanted to do tournaments around the world because they have these underground matches. I wanted to do stuff in movies, like Michael Jai White.

AllHipHop: Why are you throwing the release party in Atlanta, and not your hometown in Florida?

Kvon: We want Atlanta to be the first place to have it because Atlanta’s popping right now. The song caters to that kind of sound. It’s a club banger, something you could bang in the whip. The video is going to turn it into something you could bang anywhere. We want to give it to Atlanta, get that love. We have a lot of pull in Atlanta, we know a lot of people out there. Everyone’s been showing lot of love.

AllHipHop: How’s your hometown fanbase compared to elsewhere?

Kvon: Our hometown fanbase is crazy. We get love all over the place. By the end of the year, we’ll have the city on lock.

Nolo: They show love in my city. Broward County shows mad love when I’m there. Always show out to events, no matter what it is. A lot of the times people don’t get that, especially where we’re from.

Kvon: Because it’s so many people coming up. Atlanta’s different, everyone shows love out there. Miami and South West Florida is a little…

Nolo: Everyone is to their clique.

AllHipHop: Kodak’s from Broward right?

Nolo: Yes. Kodak, XXX, Jackboy. I knew XXX too.

AllHipHop: What was your relationship with XXX?

Nolo: That was my dawg. He and I would get into fades with n*ggas after school. He was a big hothead. He dropped out because he said “I’ma be a rapper bruh.” He really dropped out and boom, did his thing.

AllHipHop: What was it like seeing his career skyrocket!?

Nolo: That was amazing. For me, I like to see the pipeline eat. Whenever people I f### with make it, it makes me feel happy. It gives me inspiration because we’re here together.

Kanye West Off The Ballot In Presidential Battle For Ohio

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West’s election dreams have taken another big hit – he has lost his bid to run in Ohio.

The rapper sued the state’s elections chief Frank LaRose after he was denied a spot on the presidential ballot.

Secretary of State LaRose rejected a nearly-15,000-signature petition and other election paperwork from West, citing mismatched information, prompting West to file a complaint on August 26th, insisting the official had a duty to accept any petition for an independent candidate, as long as there is no protest filed against it and it does not violate state law.

But he will remain off Ohio’s presidential ballot after a decision by the state’s high court.

In a unanimous ruling, the Ohio Supreme Court officials determined LaRose acted lawfully when he rejected the paperwork the rapper submitted.

West has only made the ballot in 12 states – Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah and Vermont – after announcing his plans to run against President Donald Trump at the general election in November on Independence Day.

Ciara Talks Puff Daddy Convincing Missy Elliott To Rap For The First Time On A Record

(AllHipHop News) The Lox repeatedly talk about how Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott played a pivotal role in the creation of “It’s All About the Benjamins.” Puff Daddy’s classic 1997 single was one of the clear standout tracks from the Bad Boy Entertainment era of the late 1990s.

Missy was still a relatively unknown singer-songwriter at the time the track was recorded. When asked about the Virginia-bred musician’s lack of notoriety when they began working on “Benjamins,” The Lox’s Sheek Louch said, “She had that record out with Gina Thompson. I think that was her introduction.”

The Bad Boy/Misdemeanor connection ties back to Gina Thompson in other ways as well. According to another frequent Elliott collaborator, Puff Daddy (now known as Diddy) was part of the reason why Thompson’s “The Things That You Do” included a verse from Missy.

“’The Things You Do’ by Gina Thompson featuring Missy Elliott. This was a really special moment because, if I’m not mistaken, this was like Missy’s first rap verse as an artist. And to my understanding, I think Puff had to convince her to hop on this record because she was kind of working from the angle as a writer and producer and all that good stuff,” revealed Ciara on her Level Up Radio show for Apple Music Hits.

Ciara continued, “It’s incredible to see Missy’s whole journey and to know stories like that, where things start from, and how you have your own unique way of starting out things in life. And I always say, it’s not about how you start, it’s how you finish. And her start was an incredible start and she just kept on leveling up along the way.”

Gina Thompson’s “The Things That You Do” dropped in 1996. That same year saw Missy Elliott appear on Taral Hicks’s “Ooh, Ooh Baby,” 702’s “Steelo,” New Edition’s “You Don’t Have to Worry,” and MC Lyte’s “Cold Rock A Party.” She also contributed production for the 1996 albums One In A Million by Aaliyah and Ginuwine… the Bachelor by Ginuwine.

Three years prior, Missy (credited as Melissa Elliott) was a songwriter and performer for child rapper Raven-Symoné’s “That’s What Little Girls Are Made Of.” Misdemeanor’s critically-acclaimed debut album, Supa Dupa Fly, arrived in stores in 1997. The LP went on to earn two Grammy Award nominations and Platinum certification.

Alicia Keys Partners With The NFL To Announce $1 Billion Fund For Black-Owned Businesses

(AllHipHop News) Alicia Keys performed “Love Looks Better” at the National Football League’s 2020 season Kickoff event last night. The R&B vocalist also announced she is teaming with the NFL for a $1 billion fund.

The fund will financially support Black businesses and communities. This new endowment comes after the NFL faced years of backlash for allegedly blackballing former San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick for his peaceful protests during the playing of the national anthem.

“I’m performing for the NFL Kickoff event. My initial reaction was to decline because of some of the NFL’s past decisions. Yet I realized I HAVE to use my platform, we all need to use our platforms, every chance we get to press for racial equity,” wrote Keys in an open letter.

She added, “The fund will create long term solutions with a focus on Black entrepreneurs, businesses, communities, Black schools, banks, and other Black institutions, while addressing persistent social, economic and environmental disparities. It’s starting here, but the intention is to build a multi-billion-dollar endowment across multiple industries. Through our collective action, we can end the needless and preventable agony created by systemic racism.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CE97sf9ArGR

Alicia Keys is represented by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation management agency. Last year, Jay-Z was criticized for having Roc Nation enter into a partnership with the NFL while Kaepernick was still unsigned to a franchise. The NFL/RN deal included support for the Inspire Change initiative which focuses on education and economic advancement, police and community relations, and criminal justice reform.

“Four years ago, Colin Kaepernick’s resistance by taking a knee in silent protest was a brave and necessary stand to increase our awareness of the acts and consequences of police brutality. He is still way ahead of his time. What is being accomplished by this performance and these new commitments are meant to deeply honor that this moment is a direct result of his courage and prophecy,” wrote Keys in her letter.

She concluded the letter by stating, “Moving forward we must act together with love over hate, hope over fear and action over complacency to build the America we all know is possible. We invite all corporations, NFL clubs, and organizations to join this mission to invest in racial justice.”
