Queen Naija Admits She Was Ignorant For Comments About “Nappy Headed” Girls

(AllHipHop News) Queen Naija is once again addressing negative reactions to a video from 2017. Before starting her professional music career, the R&B vocalist was a popular YouTuber with her then-husband Chris Sails.

Three years ago, Queen was in a video where she said, “It seems like it’s always little nappy-headed girls who bully me like they jealous or something.” Those comments and other content on her channel caused people to accuse the Michigan native of being a colorist.

Queen spoke about the colorism accusations in a 2018 video where she denied discriminating against women based on skin tone and apologized for offending anyone. However, her “nappy-headed” clip continues to resurface with new calls for the 24-year-old to be canceled.

This week, Queen Naija took to Instagram to respond to critics that still have an issue with her previous statements. She again offered an apology and admitted her choice of words were problematic.

“I was just taken aback because I didn’t understand how I said something wrong because I grew up in a Black household where ‘nappy-headed’ or the term ‘nappy’ was used in such a normal way. It was normal to me, so I didn’t see where I said anything wrong back then,” Queen Naija stated in an IGTV video.

She added, “I was trying to justify what I said back then because I didn’t understand why it was wrong. But as time went on, I look back at the videos and I was like, ‘Damn, I really did sound ignorant back then.’ I could see where a lot of people would take that part of that video and feel like I’m a colorist or have something against Black women.”

The Capital recording artist also said, “I feel like melanin is beautiful. I never thought I was better [than anyone else]. Now the words that I’ve used in the past were ignorant… Now I see that I did offend a multitude of Black women and I truly apologize again to anyone who I have offended by using that term.”

Queen Naija recently released visuals for her “Pack Lite” single which interpolates Erykah Badu’s classic Grammy-nominated song “Bag Lady” from 2000. BET Award winner Teyana “Spike Tey” Taylor directed the MV.

Joe Budden Slams Logic As “Pander King” After His Comments About Depression

(AllHipHop News) Anyone that listens to The Joe Budden Podcast knows the show’s leader is not a fan of Bobby “Logic” Hall’s music or his rap skills. It seems Logic is clearly aware that Budden is one of his most outspoken critics.

“He’s a person who’s led to part of my depression, some of my darkest spaces,” stated Logic about Joe Budden during an interview with Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg.

Budden discussed Logic while on Instagram Live with Lupe Fiasco. When asked if he would apologize to the Maryland rapper, Budden responded, “Hell no. Lupe, are you starting my f*cking work week off this way? No, n*gga. I’m doubling down as soon as I get in there [to record the next podcast].”

This comes after Budden did offer a mea culpa to Logic on episode 364 of the JBP. The retired rapper said, “Last week, I came in here feeling pretty tumultuous. Fresh out of Twitter jail, unable to properly read the room. And just hating myself and life, honestly. Unfortunately, I projected some of that onto you, [Logic]. And for that, I want to apologize.”

While chatting with Lupe, Joe Budden apparently retracted his previous apology and continued to slam the No Pressure album creator. The 39-year-old commentator even seemed to accuse Logic of trying to get sympathy from the masses in a manipulative way.

“I’m not apologizing. Exactly what he said is exactly why I said what I said. He is pander king,” declared Budden. The State of the Culture host added, “If your mental health is off to the point that you would like to kill yourself, over something that a stranger has said maybe three times at the most. Then there’s some other work that needs to be done, that’s all. You don’t go on a promo run to discuss it. I don’t want anybody to die.”

Travis Scott Celebrates 2-Year Anniversary Of ‘Astroworld’ Album

(AllHipHop News) Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight was Travis Scott’s first #1 album on the Billboard 200, but Astroworld was the project that elevated the rapper to mainstream status. That LP dropped two years ago.

Scott is now celebrating Astroworld‘s cotton anniversary. Last night, the JackBoys frontman posted a hand-written message about the 2018 release on Twitter.

“Happy Astroversary a [2-year] ride that’s still one of my favorites!!! Album means so much to me!! To [everyone] that bumps and rages to that soundtrack I love you. Let’s keep the ride going see you in Utopia,” wrote Scott.

Astroworld debuted at #1 with 537,000 first-week units. The album picked up an additional 205,000 units in its second week to remain in the top spot which sparked anger from Nicki Minaj because her Queen album came in at #2 that week.

Scott earned a Best Rap Album nomination at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards for Astroworld. He eventually lost to Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy. The recording process for the LP, the promotional run, and Grammy night was filmed for Travis Scott’s Look Mom I Can Fly Netflix documentary.

Tory Lanez Has Not Been Deported To Canada, According To Reports

(AllHipHop News) Rumors began circulating that Daystar “Tory Lanez” Peterson was sent back to Ontario, Canada following his arrest on July 12. The singer/rapper was allegedly involved in a violent incident that left Megan Thee Stallion injured.

https://twitter.com/HOT97/status/1290482850966327300

However, Hot 97 is reporting the news of Lanez being deported is inaccurate. The New York City-based radio station claims the 28-year-old performer is still in America.

“We spoke to some sources close to the matter to Lanez, who denied the allegations in the report, and said that Tory Lanez is doing well in the United States and has not been ordered to be deported,” read a section of an article on Hot97.com.

Lanez has been accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in both her feet during an altercation in Hollywood Hills, California. The two Hip Hop stars were purportedly leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s home prior to the gunfire.

Megan did not publicly name Tory as the person that shot her, but the “Savage” hitmaker did say that she was the victim of someone that intentionally tried to physically harm her. Lanez was charged with a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle. He was released on bail.

Detroit Pistons To J. Cole: Hit Us Up For That Tryout

(AllHipHop News) Does J. Cole really have hoop dreams of playing in the NBA? According to Master P, the Dreamville Records co-founder wants to take a shot at making it in the league.

“When I talked to J. Cole, he was like ‘You know, big dog you did it. What do you think I would have to do to make it happen?'” Master P told TMZ. The No Limit leader signed with the Charlotte Hornets during the 1998 pre-season and the Toronto Raptors during the 1999 pre-season.

At least one NBA franchise’s social media team is expressing interest in Jermaine Cole joining the roster. The Detroit Pistons tag the 35-year-old, North Carolina-raised emcee on Twitter.

“@JColeNC we see you out here. You said they only got 12 slots on the Pistons. Hit us up for that tryout. This is for all the dreamers @bleacherreport #Dreamville,” read a tweet from the three-time champions, referencing a line from the emcee’s song “Friends.”

If J. Cole does actually take the court for the Pistons or another team, he will already have his own signature sneaker. Puma’s The RS-Dreamer began selling nationwide on Friday, July 31.

Cole stated, “Over the years, basketball shoes have progressed greatly in their level of technology and comfort but have strayed too far away from designs stylish enough for cultural relevancy. The Dreamer hopes to change that reality. The highest level of on-court performance meets the highest level of aesthetic design for daily wear. Once again, you can hoop in the same shoes you wore outside.”

Cardi B Announces ‘Wap” Single Featuring Megan Thee Stallion

(AllHipHop News) Two of the most dominant forces in rap music came together for a new track. Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s new collaboration titled “Wap” is arriving this Friday, August 7.

“Wap” is expected to be the first single from Cardi B’s highly anticipated followup to her 3x-Platinum Invasion of Privacy album. The Bronx native’s name was the top trending topic on Twitter after the song’s announcement.

https://twitter.com/iamcardib/status/1290452717853450240

Cardi also revealed that sign vinyl versions of “Wap” are now being sold on her website. However, the site continued to crash throughout the night as fans attempted to pre-order the limited-edition items.

“Everything was going great till my damn website crash. I was happy cause it crash cause of the live but now I’m tight cause I’m trying to get it fix. STAY ON DECK GUYS. It finna be up and running!” tweeted Cardi overnight.

“Wap” will be Cardi’s first single as a lead artist since “Press” was released in May 2019. In 2020, Megan dropped records such as “B.I.T.C.H.,” “Captain Hook,” “Savage,” and “Girls in the Hood.”

Cops Wanted Pop Smoke To Snitch But He Refused, According To Lawyer

(AllHipHop News) New York’s Hip-Hop police are savage.

After successfully flipping Tekashi 6ix9ine in 2018, they pushed to get another Brooklyn rapper to turn on his gang.

However, Drill rapper Pop Smoke is cut from a different cloth and shot the cops down each time the subject came up — and each time they threatened him with hard-hitting charges that could have sent him to prison.

According to the New York Post, the NYPD was hounding Pop Smoke, whose legal name is Bashar Jackson, to give them information about various gang-involved crimes at the end of 2019. However, his attorney said that the detectives would always leave frustrated.

“Any conversation with Pop about cooperation was a very short one. It’s something he would never entertain doing,” his lawyer Peter Frankel said.

In December 2019, the Hip-Hop police thought that they had their golden-woo ticket, after “The Welcome to The Party” emcee was arrested for the possession of a $375,000 stolen Rolls-Royce Wraith in Brooklyn.

They dangled six felony charges over his head and told the rapper that they had footage of him near a crime-scene. They used that info to press him about members of the Brooklyn 823 subset of the Crips gang.

He refused to cooperate.

Unfortunately, Pop Smoke was murdered in February of 2020 during a robbery at a rented home in Hollywood Hills. Four people have been formally arrested and charged with his murder in July.

July also marked the celebration of his new studio album, Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon.

Leaked Bodycam Footage Of George Floyd’s Death Sparks More Outrage

(AllHipHop News) More footage has been leaked from a different angle, showing the very last moments of George Floyd’s life.

While no one knows who is responsible for the two videos being made public, we surely know who is upset now that they are out.

Two bodycam videos have been released showing the slain rapper begging for his life, pleading for the officers to show a little compassion and the callous way the men in blue on the scene treated him during his last moments alive on earth.

The bodycam videos are from former Minneapolis Police Department officers Thomas Lane and Alexander Kueng, who are facing aiding and abetting second-degree murder for letting former cop Derek Chauvin kneel on George Floyd’s neck for almost nine-minute straight and killing him.

Derek Chauvin has been charged with second-degree murder charge and being held on a $1.25 million bail.

On Lane’s video, viewers can watch an officer put a gun up toward Floyd, as they try to push him into an SUV. Also on the video, shows the cop yelling at him to “Stop falling down,” as Floyd cries out “I’m claustrophobic.”

From Kueng’s video, viewers have the closest view of his actual death. You can hear his breath and sob, gasping for air— as he heartbreakingly says “Please, I can’t breathe.” It is there that you hear a cop say, “Relax. You can breathe fine, you’re talking fine.”

The video does show Kueng, a man of color and a rookie on the force, checks his pulse. According to the prosecutor, he was not able to find one.

Now, people are wondering just when the video from Tou Thao and Derek Chauvin’s body cameras will be released.

Others are worried about protests starting back up again over the footage.

Chicago Rapper Knowshun Drops Heat With “Flammatory” Video

Coming out of Chicago, Knowshun began making beats and writing rhymes at the early age of 16 years old. As he matured, he began to finetune his skills in both freestyling and battle rapping.

In 2017, he started his own media company called Mind-You-Mental LLC, and even added directing and cinematography to his skillsets.

Fast forward to 2020, he’s becoming a powerhouse, fully capable of completely producing his own albums and shooting his own music videos. Knowshun hopes to inspire others through lyricism and heavy bars. Now, he releases the official music video for his single titled “Flammatory.”

This song is a masterclass mixtape on lyrical wizardry mixed in with an eerie game, similar to the vibe that only a horror movie can evoke. The vibe is perfect for fans of suspense thrillers and horror.

Watch and look out for more from the Mind-You-Mental LLC recording artist.

Kanye West Chooses Spiritual Advisor As His Vice-President

(AllHipHop News) We all know that Kanye West is a multi-tasker.

The poly-hyphenate just hopped on a jet to work on his relationship with his wife and children, and at the same time dropped the name of his choice for Vice President for his 2020 presidential run.

As expected, the “College Drop” out emcee has tapped Michelle Tidball as his running mate. But who is she?

Tidball is a 57-year-old biblical life coach, who owns the Yarash bible study program, under her nonprofit organization Abundant Ministries. She lives in Wyoming and does not watch the news, but according to her website listens to “God’s whispers within [her] heart.”

Reports of the team development came as Kanye applied for inclusion on the Vermont and Missouri cards and listed Tidball as his second in command. Ironically, he did not include her on his West Virginia petition.

On August 3rd, Kanye submitted a petition for the Arkansas ballot, where he also included Tidball, but missed the New York, Maryland, and nearby Kansas deadlines.

Arkansas requires the petition to have 1,000 signatures of support to qualify as an independent candidate.

Kanye’s campaign office submitted those names within 15 minutes of the deadline. He almost missed that one too. He is not in the clear —even with getting the signatures in on time because they have to be verified. If he drops under 1,000, he (nor Tidball) will be on the ballot.

Tory Lanez Has Been Deported, Sources Say

(AllHipHop Rumors) Tory Lanez has been deported, sources say.

The 28-year-old rapper, born in Ontario Texas, has been reportedly deported after an alleged shooting involving Rapstar Megan Thee Stallion. New paragraph

Wow! This is not fully confirmed, but a report by theJasminebrand.com has stated that they have a source that says the rapper has been booted from the United States. As you all know, on July 12, Tory Lanez and Megan were involved in a situation that resulted in her being shot in both feet. BOTH FEET? How does this even happen? Tory Lanez was arrested in the Hollywood Hills and subsequently charged with carrying a concealed weapon. Megan Thee Statuesque was in the car reportedly, but I attempted to leave, allegedly resulting in the shooting. Again, HOW? Before we knew it was a shooting, we thought it was some form of glass wound possibly from broken glass from gunfire.

Anyway we are all waiting to hear what is next with this. Over 13,000 people signed a petition to have Tory Lanez booted from the country. Lanez as one of the premier rappers from Canada and was really nipping on Drake’s high heels. I am not sure what they are teaching over there but shooting a woman is one of the most cowardly acts you can possibly do. I do not care if he is only 5’3” and she is almost 6 feet tall, just take the L, dog!

More on this sad story as it develops.

Sic WithIt Teams With 42 Dugg For “Anotha One”

Sic WithIt is a rising rapper/lyricist who is preparing to release his debut album, Wasteland, this summer.

To kick things off, he unleashes the album’s first single, “Anotha One” featuring 42 Dugg. The two were connected through a mutual friend (shout out Remo) who knew the pair could create a banger together. Next thing you know, Sic WithIt and 42 Dugg were in the studio, kicking back and cooking up the record.

Having a blast in the studio recording the track, Sic WithIt knew he had to seize the opportunity. He called up a few homegirls to slide through and in no time, they were shooting the music video. All the vibes can be felt as you listen and watch the visual: sexy smiles, drinks, and fans of blue-cornered bills.

Sic WithIt and 42 Dugg’s video for “Anotha One” is a disorientating and druggy clip that showcases the two rappers in the company of a group of beautiful women, enjoying each other’s time as the song plays in the background.

As if asked to do so, the ladies take to a nearby pole to dance the night away.

SicWithIt’s knowing grin lets you know that he’s having a good time. Since it’s hot outside, 42 Dugg fans fill the air with a massive bouquet of Benjamins. It’s the simplistic, enjoyable clip that matches the song’s cheery energy. Watch above!

Tahiry Hit Vado With Two Apples Before Choking Assault

(AllHipHop Rumors) A few days ago, everybody was up in arms over Vado “choking” Tahiry. The clip, promoted by the show “Marriage Boot Camp,” was one that showed Vado briefly jumping on Tahiry in a violent manner. The video did not give a whole lot of context to what happened before the attack. So most of us just thought they were engaged in a conversation that went to the next level and he is a violent offender and domestic abuser. But there’s a little bit more to it, and Willie D of the Geto Boys highlights more of what happened. Essentially, Tahiry hit Vado with two green apples flush to the head. He got mad, but only attacked her later. I think the anger was flowing within him and it led into the next scene and that is ultimately what we are soul. Willie D gives some context to the whole situation, and essentially says “keep your hands to yourself.”

Vado has since apologized, but I am not sure this wasn’t all scripted. He didn’t really attack her what that hood vigor we would expect!

Jay-Z & Yo Gotti Pressure Healthcare Provider To Terminate Relationship With Parchman Prison

(AllHipHop News) For months, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Mario “Yo Gotti” Mims have been bringing attention to the inhumane conditions at Parchman Farm prison. The Roc Nation-affiliated rappers backed a lawsuit filed by over 200 incarcerated individuals in Mississippi correctional facilities.

Jay-Z and Yo Gotti’s public pressure played a role in Centene terminating its multimillion-dollar partnership with Parchman and the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Critics hold the healthcare provider partially responsible for the 53 deaths inside Mississippi prisons – 25 at Parchman – since December 2019.

https://twitter.com/teamroc/status/1221985264014446593

“We hope that Centene’s decision to end its relationship with the Mississippi Department of Corrections sends a clear message to Governor Tate Reeves – it’s time to invest in the health and well-being of the people in your prisons,” states Marcy Croft, Team ROC attorney.

Croft continues, “There is no excuse for the 53 deaths across the Mississippi prison system over the past several months, many of which were preventable. We will not stop until the incarcerated receive consistent and competent medical care, especially now with the COVID-19 crisis. This must be a priority.”

Lawyers and medical experts supported by Team Roc, the philanthropic arm of Roc Nation, uncovered the abhorrent situation inside Parchman. Photographs and firsthand accounts revealed men in the penitentiary were subject to undercooked or spoiled food, foul-smelling water, dilapidated restrooms, flooded floors, exposed wires, corrupt officers, and insufficient medical care.

Wyclef Jean Explains Why He Wants To Take Part In A ‘Verzuz’ With Will.i.am

(AllHipHop News) The next Verzuz event will feature Rick Ross and 2 Chainz. After those two southerners go head-to-head on August 6, which two acts will be next to showcase their catalog?

Wyclef Jean of the Fugees seems to be putting out a request to go against Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas. The People’s Party with Talib Kweli podcast spoke to Jean about Verzuz.

“I was approached, definitely,” said Wyclef about the music series curated by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland. He added, “The person who resembles me the most, like in the background with the studio that I fully know that they do, is probably Will.i.am for multiple reasons.”

The Grammy winner went on to talk about Jimmy Iovine who was the head of Interscope Records at the time of the Fugees’ rise. According to Jean, Iovine viewed Will.i.am and the Black Eyed Peas as his label’s version of Wyclef and the Fugees.

“My manager was David Sonnenberg, and Jimmy Iovine was obsessed with how he is going to get a new Fugee. Then once we left David Sonnenberg, Will.i.am became a new Wyclef for him,” Jean told Kweli and co-host Jasmin Leigh.

The Carnival album creator continued, “The reason I say Will is because Will, strategically, was that nerd like me. He’s the guy behind the schemes. He’s incredible. For me, it’s not about hit songs. It’s more like the mechanicals, the little things that people don’t see. I think they’d probably be shocked with the amount of information.”

Logic’s Scores Second-Highest Sales Week Of His Career With ‘No Pressure’

(AllHipHop News) Bobby “Logic” Hall told his fans that No Pressure would be his final studio LP. It seems the Maryland rapper’s retirement announcement helped him earn his seventh Top 10 album.

No Pressure debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart with 221,000 first-week units. Logic was beaten out for the top spot by Taylor Swift’s Folklore which started with 846,000 units.

The 30-year-old artist secured his largest sales week since Everybody collected 248,000 units in 2017. That album included the Top 5 single “1-800-273-8255” featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid. 2019’s Confessions of a Dangerous Mind started with 80,000 units.

According to BillboardNo Pressure got a significant boost in sales from merchandise/album bundles that were only offered for one week. Of the 221K total, 172K units were from pure sales.

Juice WRLD’s posthumous album, Legends Never Die, slipped to #3 on the latest Billboard 200. Pop Smoke’s posthumous album, Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon, fell to #4.

Gunna’s Wunna jumped 15 positions from #21 to #6 following the release of a deluxe version. Lil Baby’s My Turn dropped to #7. The Kid LAROI’s F*ck Love premiered at #8. Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding slid to #9.

50 Cent Questions Instagram Flagging His Post For Bullying & Harassment

(AllHipHop News) Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is known to not hold back on his social media. Over the years, he has had internet spats with Ja Rule, Meek Mill, Bow Wow, Teairra Mari, and others.

Apparently, 50’s recent trolling went too far for Instagram. The G-Unit leader uploaded a message from the company that claimed one of his posts violated  IG’s guidelines on harassment and bullying.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CDUDHGxH5bH

“I don’t understand this, why am I getting this? It says the post is removed for bullying but the post is still on my page. Ok time to take a break from IG,” wrote 50 Cent in the caption.

For the record, 50 continued to add images to his Instagram page, including a photo of his youngest son. He also posted several promotional posts for the Le Chemin Du Roi Brut champagne.

In a rare moment of contrition, 50 Cent did offer a mea culpa to Megan The Stallion for making fun of her getting shot during an incident involving Tory Lanez. However, that Instagram post from July 27 is no longer on 50’s page.

https://twitter.com/4everBrandy/status/1289048911219499013

In addition, the Brandy-led Moesha television series was added to Netflix’s library the next day. The UPN sitcom from the 1990s was trending on Twitter for days.

Last year, there was talk of new Moesha episodes possibly being made in the future. Brandy recently spoke with Rap-Up about rebooting the show for a new generation.

“I’m completely open to it. I would love to experience that,” said Brandy. “I just want for everyone to know that I’m open to it and I’m in discussions with the right people to make it happen.”

Brandy also expressed interest in a Verzuz matchup with her “Boy Is Mine” collaborator Monica. The singer/actress said, “I’ve always been open to it, especially if it’s like a celebratory-type of vibe, experience. I’m open to it. I think people would love that, just to celebrate the both of us.”

Lil Yachty Reacts To His “Bayang” TikTok Video Going Viral

(AllHipHop News) Lil Yachty had a lot of people talking and posting about his new hairstyle. The 22-year-old Atlanta rapper went viral over the weekend thanks to a TikTok video.

In the clip, Yachty can be seen smiling as he shows off his new straightened-bang hairstyle. A song referred to as “Not The Bayang” plays in the background.

Yachty’s vid spread across other social media platforms with users posting memes making fun of him. On Sunday, he took to Twitter to respond to all the attention his new hairdo is getting.

“I ain’t gone lie my TikTok was never supposed to get out now that it’s been found I am embarrassed,” tweeted the Quality Control representative. Whether he was being sarcastic or serious with his response, it is clear Yachty is aware that his bangs became a topic of conversation.

600 Breezy Releases “Signature” Visual Via Asylum Records

(AllHipHop Music) 600 Breezy is without a doubt a Chicago mainstay.

Emerging from the Drill movement that took the nation by storm, 600 forged his own path with his unique flow and vocals which endeared him to fans across the globe.

Having overcome personal hardships and tragedy, 600’s circumstances fueled his work ethic, releasing a bevy of mixtapes and even captured the attention of rap superstar Drake, who used the then newcomers vocals on his ‘More Life’ playlist track “Lose You.”

The fanfare was short-lived though as 600 Breezy was arrested on a probation violation. In his time away, he received much support, included from Drake himself.

After serving 16 months, 600 was released and wasted no time getting back into the studio.

Fast forward to 2020, now on Asylum Records, the Chicago native has returned with the release of ‘Iceman Edition 2.’

The project is a departure from his more recent sounds, as he  described it as an apologetic return to his gangsta roots.

“I went back to my hood to reconnect with myself,” says Breezy. I locked myself into the studio, slept on floors with my people, and watched the sun come up for days. I had to shake the Hollywood nonsense off me and get back to s###-talking Breezo. I created this project strictly for the streets.”

The 10-track project features production from Kid Hazel (21 Savage), Bankroll Got It (DaBaby), Womatictrack (2 Chainz), and more.

Further upping the ante, 600 Breezy released a visual to accompany the project in the form of the 3ZFilms-directed “Signature.”

Watch the video below and check 600 Breezy’s new mixtape ‘Iceman Edition 2,’ out now via Asylum Records.
