Zoe Kravitz Regrets Commenting On Will Smith’s Vicious Oscar Assault On Chris Rock

Zoe Kravitz has expressed regret over the way she called out Will Smith for slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards in March.

The “Men in Black” star stunned the world when he slapped the comedian onstage after he made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and went on to accept the Best Actor Oscar for “King Richard” around 40 minutes later.

Following the controversy, Zoe took to Instagram to post a snap of her wearing a white backless Saint Laurent dress as she posed at Vanity Fair’s annual Oscars after-party and added the caption, “Here is a picture of my dress at the party after the award show – where we are apparently screaming profanities and assaulting people on stage now.”

But in a new interview for The Wall Street Journal, the “Big Little Lies” actress admitted that she wished she had handled the situation “differently.”

“I’m torn about what to say right now because I’m supposed to just talk about it; I have very complicated feelings around it,” she said. “I wish I had handled that differently. And that’s okay.”

Zoe went on to note that the vast online response to her comment led her to reconsider how she uses social media.

“It’s a scary time to have an opinion or to say the wrong thing or to make controversial art or statements or thoughts or anything,” the 33-year-old continued. “It’s mostly scary because art is about conversation. That should, in my opinion, always be the point. The internet is the opposite of conversation. The internet is people putting things out and not taking anything in… I think I’m in a place right now where I don’t want to express myself through a caption or a tweet. I want to express myself through art.”

Zoe is working on her directorial debut, “P#### Island,” which stars Naomi Ackie and Channing Tatum.

Will apologized to Academy members and his peers during his acceptance speech for Best Actor at the film event and followed it up with a lengthy apology on Instagram the next day.

Later, the 53-year-old resigned from the Academy and was banned from attending the Oscars for ten years.

Fredo Bang Gives His Location And Dares Opps To Pull Up

Fredo Bang is different. He is a rapper that has had some hits like “Oouuh” and “Top”. Coming from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, you already know he’s real. But these days, he moving in ways that could be seen as very dangerous. Dangerous for who is the question.

Homie got on live and gave out exactly where he was and essentially dared his opposition to pull up on him.

“Pull up on me.. I give y’all 5 minutes to pull up,” Fredo Bang said. Needless to say, nobody showed up and he’s still alive.

Some people called him our for this. Some said this was just Fredo being stupid and risking his life. Others claim he was just BSing because there is no way anybody could get to him within five minutes. Regardless, I am sure that that rapper has whatever one could need to defend against such aggression.

See folks, Mr. Bang has already been charged with attempted murder in the past. He did the time and came home. Last year, he got out of jail after a parole violation. Remember him and Lit Yoshi were arrested shortly before Rolling Loud Miami.

There was also that shooting at NBA Youngboy. A lot of stuff, people.

Here’s the latest from Fredo.

Black Thought Talks Being Perceived As An Underrated Emcee

Many diehard Hip Hop devotees view Tarik “Black Thought” Trotter as one of the greatest rappers of all time. However, some mainstream rap fans may not be as familiar with The Roots frontman.

Throughout his four-decade career, Black Thought released projects as a member of The Roots and as a soloist. The Philadelphia-raised wordsmith recently teamed with producer Danger Mouse for the Cheat Codes album.

Both Black Thought and Danger Mouse joined Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 to discuss their new collaborative project. Thought was asked about being perceived as an underrated emcee.

“I think over the years I’ve definitely felt like, yeah. I mean, people, everyone says that. Everyone I meet, ‘You’re so underrated. You’re so underrated,'” responded Black Thought.

The 50-year-old Grammy winner added, “Or you’re in interviews and it’s, ‘How do you feel to be so underrated?’ But yeah, I don’t know. The people whose opinions matter to me have always properly rated me, so it’s never really been a huge deal for me.”

Black Thought and Danger Mouse’s critically-acclaimed Cheat Codes collaborative LP includes features by Raekwon, Kid Sister, Joey Bada$$, Russ, Dylan Cartlidge, MF Doom, A$AP Rocky, Run The Jewels, and Conway The Machine.

“It was all really organic. Everybody that’s on the album is somebody we knew or worked with before in some kind of way, but we didn’t really add any of the rappers until our part was done at the end,” Danger Mouse told Zane Lowe.

Danger Mouse’s discography contains The Grey Album as well as two albums with CeeLo Green as Gnarls Barkley. As a member of The Roots, Black Thought took part in the creation of numerous LPs since the early 1990s. Thought dropped his debut solo album, Streams of Thought, Vol. 3: Cane & Able, in 2020.

Idris Elba Shunned By His Daughter For 3 Weeks After She Failed To Land A Role In “Beast’

Idris Elba got the cold shoulder from his daughter after she failed to make the grade when she auditioned for his new movie Beast

He popped by the Breakfast Club to promote the film and opened up about why his daughter was not cast. According to Idris, his 20-year-old daughter Isan Elba “didn’t have the right energy” for the film.

“The relationship in the film and the relationship between my daughter was, the chemistry wasn’t right for [the] film,” Idris Elba admitted. However, it fell to the film’s producer Will Packer to deliver the bad news to the woman he affectionately calls his niece.

“I called and talked to her, ’cause I’ve known her for a very long time, you know what I mean,” Packer explained. “I’m like ‘Uncle Will.’ That’s like my little niece, you know, and she’s amazing.”

However, the Girls Trip producer revealed the talented actress will be back. “You’re definitely going to be seeing her,” he added.

Nonetheless, it took Isan some time to get over the disappointment. Though he was not the bearer of bad news, Idris Elba revealed she refused to speak to him for three weeks. “We got through that you know and I’m really proud of her to go through that, not get the role, but still come to the premiere,” Idris expressed. Check out the episode at the end of the post.

Meanwhile, it appears that Idris Elba is no longer in the running for a role he coveted for some time after reports suggested he withdrew from the race to take over as the new James Bond. However, according to U.K. outlet The Mirror, he’s “informally” part of the selection process after being in talks with producers about the role for such a long time.

Chainsmokers Drew Taggart Claims T.I. Punched Him In The Face For Kissing Him On The Cheek

Hip-Hop artists have heavily embraced electronic music in 2022, with artists using house music samples in their recent hits and Drake dropping a whole album influenced by the genre.

Producers of electronic music and rappers are working together to create the latest hits, so it’s no surprise that T.I. recently linked with EDM DJ and production duo The Chainsmokers. However, their encounter took a left turn when Andrew “Drew” Taggart got caught up in the moment. He was lost in the “vibe” and got a little over-familiar, kissing the “Live Your Life” rapper.

The Chainsmokers shared a TikTok on Tuesday (Aug. 16) captioned “When meeting T.I. goes wrong,” documenting their exchange.

The video begins with The Chainsmokers and T.I. out on the town, vibing to the latest club anthems. The music then stops abruptly, and the scene switches to the duo on a car ride. “T.I. just literally punched me in the face,” Drew Taggart admitted while fellow Chainsmoker Alex Pall laughed. “We were on a vibe and I gave him a kiss on the cheek. It was totally my fault,” he added.

Drew then went on to explain that T.I. told him, “Don’t do that” before pushing him off. “He punched me in the face and I was like ‘okay, I’m sorry,’ and he was like ‘alright, cool we’re good’.”

Nonetheless, both Chainsmokers took the blow with good humor, laughing throughout the retelling. “T.I. is fully in the right here,” Drew continued. “I was feeling the vibes way too hard and I kissed T.I. on the cheek and he punched me in the face for it. It’s fully fine,” the Chainsmokers star concluded.

Kanye West Dragged Online For Selling New Yeezy Gap Collection Out Of Garbage Bags

Kanye West is receiving heat online from fans who criticized the rapper for using homeless people as fashion muses after it was revealed Ye is selling his latest Yeezy Gap collection out of trash bags.

A new-York based Twitter user shared their experience of a recent visit to a Gap store, posting an image of the merch haphazardly stuffed into large black garbage bags.

“This is how they are selling Yeezy GAP,” the user explained in the caption. “The sales associate said Ye got mad when he saw they had it on hangers and this is how he wanted it. They won’t help you find ur size too, you just have to just dig through everything.”

Kanye West Blasted For “Homeless Inspired” Yeezy Gap Collection

Another Twitter user shared their “unpopular opinion” alongside a suggestion for Kanye West. “Instead of buying Yeezy’s, “homeless inspired” clothing for $200… How about donatin’ the money to the people this man is mocking and makin’ bank on?

She then tagged Ye, adding, “clothing on display at the GAP. Sold in trash bags! 😶 Wow, dude.”

Earlier this week, Kanye West came under fire for failing to meet the promises he made to the L.A. Mission homeless shelter. The charity reacted after the rapper turned fashion mogul shared a post on Instagram. “Look to the homeless as the biggest inspiration for all design,” wrote Ye.

However, according to TMZ L.A. Mission, Kanye West did not deliver on his claims that he would help the homeless get jobs and housing when he met with their leaders back in November. After the outlet published its report, Troy Vaughn, President, and CEO of Los Angeles Mission, added further context.

He claimed they “absolutely had collaborative discussions with Ye about improving the lives of the unhoused on Skid Row especially through design as he mentioned in his tweet.” Vaughn is “extremely optimistic that Ye will be an instrumental force in helping us launch The Skid Row Revitalization Project in the coming months.”

Jay-Z Reveals He Gave Irv Gotti His Nickname To “Toughen” Him Up

Jay-Z made a rare appearance in Irv Gotti’s new Murder Inc. docuseries, which recently premiered on BET.

The label executive’s new project gives fans an in-depth look into the history of Murder Inc. while celebrating the impact the collective had on Hip-Hop culture. The first episode highlights the close connection Jay-Z shared with Irv Gotti, and Hov revealed that it was he who came up with Irv’s moniker.

Jay shared how he became close friends with Gotti after meeting him while on tour in London. The pair hit the clubs together and soon forged a bond. However, Jay-Z told Irv Gotti that there was something he should change if he wanted to be successful in the industry.

“I remember be snappin’ on Irv, like, ‘Your name is ‘Irving’,” Jay-Z recalled fondly. “‘Man, get outta here. Irving?’ And everybody laughing, ha ha ha.” He then told Irv that he needed a name that could “toughen” up his friend. “‘Yo, you need a name like Irv Gotti we gotta toughen you up.’”

After some thought, he suggested “Irv Gotti.” The Murder Inc. honcho added, “And like everything that Jay does, it stuck.”

The Hip-Hop Supergroup That Never Was

Elsewhere in the episode, Jay-Z discussed forming a legendary supergroup that never came to fruition. He linked with Ja Rule and DMX, and they began making music together as a trio.

“The supergroup with Jay, X and Ja, I used it to push branding for Murder Inc. All I gotta do is put a hot track on, and they gon go at it,” Irv said. “If there’s a studio and the rappers is rapping, X is trying to kill you. Hov, you can’t tell Hov he ain’t the best. He thinks he’s f###### the illest ever, and he might be. Rule has a Napoleon complex. If you think for one second he’s bowing down to anybody, no.”

However, no official debut album materialized, and the group went their separate ways.

“I got the legendary XXL cover of Jay, X, and Ja. Murder Inc,” Irv Gotti shared. Hov then added, “I think it was everyone’s ambition, everyone’s ego. It was just three guys, three independent labels, three Black men, who were all fighting to be the best in the world.”

Swizz Beatz & Timbaland Suing Triller For $28 Million In Missing Verzuz Payments

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have a battle on their hands, and this time, it’s not the next big Verzuz clash, rather they are clashing with Triller, who acquired the live streaming series last year.

The legendary producers filed a lawsuit on Tuesday (Aug. 16), claiming the social media platform owes them more than $28 million, according to various reports. Triller acquired the platform created by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland back in January 2021 for an undisclosed sum.

Swizz told Variety: “We needed a team that wasn’t scared and were super-disruptors and risk-takers. You can find companies that have a load of money, but they’re not thinking disruptively or strategically.”

However, Swizz and Timbaland allege Triller began missing payments in January 2022, according to the complaint filed in L.A. County Superior court. “To date, Defendants have failed and refused to make any payment to [Swizz Beatz and Timbaland] of the past due sums due and owing,” the suit reads, as per Washington Post

Timbaland and Swizz Beatz were made Shareholders in Triller Network, and the deal was to be paid in installments. The first was due when the deal was closed, with another payment shortly after. Two more payments were due on the first and second anniversaries of the deal.

Triller was to pay the pair $18 million no later than March 17, then £1 million on the first of the month for ten months. However, the suit alleges Triller paid the first two but defaulted on the agreement in January and hasn’t paid anything since.

In April, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz sent Triller a notice and demand for payment, but Triller still refused to pay.

Brooklyn Rapper Ki BandZ is On Fire

Brooklyn Rapper Ki BandZ has been dropping back-to-back visuals for his latest singles, most notably “Poison” which was released in mid-July. The video depicts the hungry rapper aggressively spittin’ his bars and proving why he deserves a seat at the table, seems like Ki BandZ isn’t taking any breaks anytime soon.

His name Ki BandZ originally stemmed from his father calling him “Cash” & he first got his start in music about 4 years ago when his friends started a group, according to a previous interview with Thisis50. He also spoke about the current state of NY Drill music & more. It’s safe to say this artist isn’t going away anytime soon.

Albee Al Finally Free After Shooting, But There’s A Catch

New Jersey’s Albee Al was released from jail after accepting a plea deal for his role in a 2019 shooting.

According to the Daily Voice, Albee Al and his co-defendant Darnell Reeves pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on Monday (August 15). They were released from the Passaic County Jail later that day.

But Albee Al, whose real name is Albert Robinson, and Reeves could end up back behind bars in a few months. Their plea deals come with a mandatory minimum of 18 months in prison.

The two had been in jail since September 2019. It’s unknown if a judge will credit them with time served when they are sentenced on October 14.

Both men were originally arrested on multiple charges, including attempted murder, for a non-fatal shooting in Passaic, New Jersey. Prosecutors said Albee Al and Reeves shot two men in August 2019.

Albee Al previously beat a murder charge in 2014. He was acquitted of murder, aggravated manslaughter and reckless manslaughter in the death of a 17-year-old boy.

Prosecutors accused the 34-year-old rapper of dumping the kid’s body in the Hudson River after his cousin shot the teen. His cousin Joshua Robinson was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the teen’s death.
