Brooklyn Drill Rapper Tdott Woo Shot Dead

Brooklyn has been on fire over the last couple of days. Not even a day after Brooklyn Drill rapper Nas Blixky was shot in the head, another borough rising star has been gunned down.

Fatally.

Bronx News 12 reported Kings County murder, stating that a 22-year-old man was shot in the head in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn on Tuesday, Feb. 1. The outlet gave little information about the circumstances surrounding his death but said the tragic gunplay transpired around 2:30 pm. After the young man was struck by the bullet,  he was reportedly transported to Brookdale Hospital by EMS.

The man has been identified as Tdott Woo, the inventor of the Woo Walk, by video director Jeremi Thi Lam on Instagram. He wrote, “The Woo-Walker … You were always a star and I made sure to tell you that every chance I had. You inspired so many people on a daily! The kids love you! My condolences go out to your family and FIVI as well. This s### hurts my heart. . . . Dance in heaven my brother. You’ll be with Pop now.”

Tdott Woo, whose real name is Tajay Dobson and was a friend of rapper Pop Smoke, was about to walk into his greatest success.

The unfortunate circumstance happened hours after he inked a recording deal with Million Dollar Music Record label. In celebration of the signing, the record company posted, “Love to welcome @tdott_woo to the label as an official artist of MDM and the journey begins.”

But after his tragic demise, the label wipe clean all the photographs from the profile, except one, posted after his death was confirmed.

The caption was endearing and said, “It’s an honor to remain your friend until your last moments. Your memories will always stay with us no matter where we go & what we do. Sleep in peace. #LongLiveTdott 🙏🏻 Just know his legacy will always live, from his laugh to the dance everyone across the world does, some of us know him a friend, brother, cousin or just a fan but we all come together to tell you FLY HIGH 🙏🏻”

His manager also paid tribute, posting a snippet of Fivio Foreign’s “Big Drip” video and sharing the impact that the rising star had on it.

“Rip TDOTT. Big reason why ‘Big Drip’ popped off. Smh”

After news of his death started to circulate, Hot 97’s DJ Drewski said that he would not be playing music with explicit gang affiliations or disses targeting rival rappers.

He posted the declaration on his Instagram story, saying, “I’m not supporting no more diss/gang music! If ya dissing each other in the songs, don’t even send it to me! I don’t care if the artist sends it, the label sends it, your big Homie sends it! I will not support or play anymore Diss/Gang records on the radio! We r losing too many young men and women to the streets!”

“If you make drill music, there are a lot of drill songs without dissing your opps or smoking your opps! Step up your pen game and creativity. No reason why every week someone is getting locked up or killed. I can’t change the world, but I can stop supporting the nonsense. I admit I’m a fan of the drill records and supported from the beginning. But it’s only getting worse. SMH,” he concluded.

According to the Daily News, Tdott’s grandmother is bereaved.

She said, “I couldn’t even get sleep last night. He was a good, good kid. … He loved singing and dancing and all that. He had a passion for music.”

She said told the newspaper that she heard four shots when the shooting occurred. She also asked not to be identified by name.

Reginald Lewis – The First Black Billionaire Who Played By His Own Rules

Reginald Lewis was proof that the American dream was alive and well in the ’80. Lewis was a highly successful self-made Black man who fought against racial injustice.

Reginald F. Lewis was born on December 7th, 1942. He grew up in a neighborhood in East Baltimore.

Even from a young age, Reginald had a unique business mindset. This perhaps originated with his grandmother teaching him the importance of saving whenever possible.

Reginald set up a delivery route to sell the Afro-American newspaper at just ten years old. His modest business venture was a tremendous success.

He built up an audience ranging in the hundreds and sold the route for a substantial profit in just two years.

Reginald soared in his school career.

He was the football team’s quarterback, vice president of the student body, and eventually gained a football scholarship at Virginia State University.

Due to an injury, his football career was cut short. So instead, he began to focus more on work and school.

Reginald Lewis worked as a sales assistant to a photographer and was so successful that he was offered a partnership position. However, Reginald had his eye on other possibilities.

Reginald applied for a Rockefeller Foundation program to introduce Black students to legal studies. He was invited to attend Harvard Law School and was the only person admitted into the school before applying.

Upon graduation, Reginald Lewis spent two years practicing corporate law at a prestigious New York law firm. He was also counsel for the Commission for Racial Justice and repped the Wilmington Ten.

Lewis established his own equity company with a desire to complete deals, and he purchased his first business, The McCall Pattern Company, in 1983. Lewis sold the once failing company for $65 million before securing similar purchases of various companies, including Beatrice Foods.

He purchased Beatrice Foods for $985 million. It was the largest leveraged buyout for an American company of overseas assets at the time.

Reginald Lewis worked to increase the worth of the business, paying off the company’s debt. By 1992, the company was generating $1.8 billion in annual sales.

It was the first black-owned business to hit the $1 billion annual revenue target.

In 1993, Forbes listed Lewis as one of the 400 wealthiest Americans. His net worth was estimated at just over $1 billion.

Lewis was a fiercely determined individual with a quick wit and profound intelligence, even from a young age.

Lewis overheard his grandparents speaking about employment discrimination African-Americans faced when he was six years old.

He famously asked:  “Why should white guys have all the fun?”

The quote also served as inspiration for a book he published with Blair S. Walker about his life.

Lewis strived and succeeded in proving that things could be different during his life. He showed that a Black man could earn a fortune even as he supported those around him as a philanthropist.

Lewis died at the age of 50 from brain cancer.

His legacy continues to live on, and his wife, Loida Nicolas-Lewis, took over the company he built. His daughter, Christina, set up AllStarCode in honor of her father in 2013.

The non-profit organization is focused on helping young men of color find success in the tech industry. The organization strives to provide training, mentorship as well as exposure.

Young Buck Arrested For Causing Havoc At Ex’s Home

Young Buck found himself in legal trouble once again on Wednesday (February 2).

According to WSMV in Nashville, Young Buck was arrested for damaging his ex-girlfriend’s property. He was officially charged with vandalism over $1,000.

Police apprehended Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, at a traffic stop after responding to a domestic disturbance. Authorities caught him when they spotted a vehicle fleeing the scene that matched the description of his vehicle.

The veteran rapper’s ex-girlfriend told police he texted her to say he was coming over to her house. Once he made it to her home, he began kicking her door when she didn’t answer.

After Young Buck left the premises, his ex went outside and discovered he also damaged her vehicle that was sitting in the driveway. Officers confirmed her account of the damage with footage captured by security cameras.

Young Buck was released from custody after posting a $1,000 bond. A court date has been scheduled for March 1.

The former G-Unit member’s arrest comes at a time when he’s dealing with financial trouble related to his bankruptcy. The trustee overseeing his case has accused Young Buck of hiding hundreds of thousands of dollars that should belong to the bankruptcy estate.

Four Arrested In Connection To Overdose Death Of Michael K. Williams

Four people were taken into custody for their alleged roles in the death of Michael K. Williams.

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York announced the arrests of Irvin Cartagena, Hector Robles, Luiz Cruz and Carlos Macci on Wednesday (February 2).

They’ve each been charged with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl analogue, fentanyl and heroin. Cartagena was also charged with causing the death of Michael K. Williams in connection with the narcotics conspiracy.

“Michael K. Williams, a prominent actor and producer, tragically overdosed in his New York City apartment from fentanyl-laced heroin,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a press release. “Today, along with our law enforcement partners at the NYPD, we announce the arrests of members of a drug crew, including Irvin Cartagena, the man who we allege sold the deadly dose of drugs to Michael K. Williams.”

Damian Williams added, “This is a public health crisis. And it has to stop. Deadly opioids like fentanyl and heroin don’t care about who you are or what you’ve accomplished. They just feed addiction and lead to tragedy. The Southern District of New York and our law enforcement partners will not give up. We will bring every tool to bear. And we will continue to hold accountable the dealers who push this poison, exploit addiction and cause senseless death.”

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Cartagena sold fentanyl-laced heroin to Michael K. Williams on September 5, 2021. The transaction was caught on surveillance video.

Robles, Cruz and Macci are facing a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum sentence of 40 years behind bars. Cartagena could get the same punishment or a harsher sentence if convicted of causing Michael K. Williams’ death. He faces a minimum sentence of 20 years and a maximum of life in prison.

Michael K. Williams passed away on September 6, 2021. The acclaimed actor was 54.

Melli Monaco Is Ready To Takeover With Her New Music Single “Marche”

Melli Monaco is a whole vibe and she’s here to take over the music industry once and for all. Born and raised from Neuilly-sur-Marne, a suburb of Paris, France, Melli arrives with her own unique style, sound, and swag, bringing an eclectic approach to her art while blending the genres of hip-hop, dance music, Afrobeat and everything in between.

In describing herself, she states, “I’m a French artist, but most of my music is in English. I started doing music in 2019 and since then, I put out 11 singles and all of them have music videos. I believe visuals are really important because they show who you really are.”

Moving to the United States originally to play volleyball, Melli learned English by watching Law & Order and quickly fell in love with the music scene. Her first single ever, “War,” is an honest and vulnerable record inspired by the hardships she faced moving to a new country. Fast forward to today, her most recent single and visual “Marche” showcases her diversity and international presence, a certified anthem for any fashion or runway show.

AllHipHop: How would you describe your sound?

Melli Monaco: My sound, I love so many different styles of music so you’ll hear a lot of Afro mixed with Hip Hop, pop and EDM. Mainly, I just configure what goes well with my accent.

AllHipHop: I love your accent.

Melli Monaco: Thank you. I am always trying to create a sound that’s not going to clash with the beat or the message that I want to put out to the world.

AllHipHop: How was it growing up in France?

Melli Monaco: It was cool, I grew up in the hood. It’s funny because a lot of people think there’s no hood in France. I grew up in a modest family and most of my childhood was spent playing sports.

AllHipHop: What did you play?

Melli Monaco: I did gymnastics from the age of 3 to 14. Then I did both track and field and volleyball and later got a scholarship to come and play in the United States.

AllHipHop: How old were you? Was there a culture shock?

Melli Monaco: I was 18, there was a culture shock. I came here and thought I could speak a little English, and realized that I didn’t. [laughs] In college, they gave me regular classes like mathematics and biology. I’m like “yo, where’s the English class?” They didn’t give me English classes. I had to learn on my own to speak the language better, so I started watching Law & Order everyday on TV.

AllHipHop: Oh wow, that’s how you learned?

Melli Monaco: Yeah, because I felt like if you understood Law & Order, you can speak English. So that’s what I had—that and my dictionary.

AllHipHop: Who were you listening to, that made you want to do music too?

Melli Monaco: Booba, a well known french rapper who has features with some American artists, Saïan Supa Crew and Doc Gineco. Eventually, I started listening to artists like 50 Cent, Lil Wayne.

AllHipHop: You started doing music in 2019, what was the turning point?

Melli Monaco: I started doing music when my YouTube channel got deleted. Along with Youtube I was pursuing an acting career and it always made me feel like I wasn’t in control having to wait to be hired for roles. Music became my new outlet. If I wanted to put out a song every day, I could. I began to enjoy the process of making music and I stuck with it.

AllHipHop: Is Melli Monaco your real name?

Melli Monaco: No, my first name’s Melanie. Monaco is a rich country in Europe. And it sounds good, people can say it.

AllHipHop: Talk about releasing such a vulnerable song such as “War,” as your debut single.

Melli Monaco: “War,” wow. That was the first song of mine that got good exposure. It’s about my journey in America, being on my own with no family. I don’t have many friends.

I shared many stories with my writer, Mitch, once I found a beat that made me think about my past trials with men, friends and being an immigrant in a different country. I was inspired by artists like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, who has a message in their lyrics. My writer came back with a reference track, I went in and recorded the song and that’s how War was born.

AllHipHop: Did you come to LA first?

Melli Monaco: No, I came to Maryland. That’s where I went to school. Then I moved to D.C., then Atlanta, then LA.

AllHipHop: You just released Marche,” what inspired this record?

Melli Monaco: I began working with a new team of producers and writers in Atlanta. We recorded for a week and came up with Marche. The upbeat record fit my monotone voice perfectly. I knew this would be the next single.

AllHipHop: What was your vision with the video shoot?

Melli Monaco: I feel that the song is a feel-good song. You want to dance, and you want to also talk your s###. The video sounds really good for fashion shows. I wanted to be Tyra Banks and tell people, “okay, you can walk like this. No, you’re not good. Let me show you.” But I don’t do runway. [laughs]

AllHipHop: What is it that you want fans to get from your story?

Melli Monaco: It’s going to sound cliche, but you can do whatever you want. Anything is possible. The only time you’re going to fail is when you quit, so never quit.

AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio at all times?

Melli Monaco: A yellow Red Bull, some comfy socks and good energy. I like to have good people with me who can give me honest feedback while I’m recording.

AllHipHop: Talk about the Pineapple Show, I love the name.

Melli Monaco: Thank you. The Pineapple Show is a virtual dating show that I host on Wednesdays on my YouTube channel. Pretty much I find a single lady and invite men to come and court her. Once she feels uncomfortable or finds she doesn’t like the suitor she says “Pineapple” and I remove the guy from the live.

AllHipHop: Talk about having an international sound and how “Marche” plays into that.

Melli Monaco: It’s just a fashion show. It’s Paris! Right away, it’s international. It’s a mix of Hip Hop dance, EDM and Afrobeat. It’s a fun record that makes you want to let your hair down.

AllHipHop: Someone you want to collab with?

Melli Monaco: My favorites of all time are Drake, Chris Brown and Rihanna. I would love to work with them. I love Rihanna because I can identify with the bad girl who does what she wants to do. I can connect with Drake’s sound and Chris Brown is everything! I’m a big fan of all three.

AllHipHop: How is it as an independent artist?

Melli Monaco: It’s tough. You pay for everything, but then you decide everything so it’s pretty cool.

AllHipHop: How do you support yourself financially?

Melli Monaco: YouTube helps finance my career. My channel is about helping men navigate the dating scene. I talk a lot of s### on the channel and I think guys are attracted to my boldness, and my p#### mouth.

AllHipHop: What do you have planned for the year? Do you have any goals?

Melli Monaco: I just want to keep on going and putting music out. I’m releasing new music every month with visuals. I would love to be an opening act for an established artist on tour.

AllHipHop: Anything else you want to let the people know?

Melli Monaco: Please check out my new single, “Marche.” Look out for me, I have so much more in store.

TidalWave Comics Give Rapper Lil Nas X Gets His Own Comic Book

Rapper Lil Nas X is about to be immortalized in a 22-page comic book. The flamboyant rapper will join other celebrities who have allowed their lives to be illustrated like some of their favorite cartoon characters.

According to the Daily News, an Oregon-based publisher named TidalWave Comics will add the chart-topper to its “Fame” series, books that celebrate the life and career achievements of influential headliners like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Madonna, David Bowie, and Tina Turner.

The “Montero” rapper’s title will be written by the TidalWave’s owner Darren G. Davis, illustrated by artist Vitor Moura and explore his life’s story.

“We’ve found a niche with our bio comics,” Davis said. “Our success with this comic shows that there is a much wider audience for sequential storytelling than many thought.”

This bio comic will track the artist’s earliest days as a littler Nas X to his current status of pop superstar, the story promises to be honest, humorous, and in true Montero fashion, outrageous. Some of the scenes in this comic book will include an episode about his parent’s divorce, his high school yearbook photo, and the Peter Park spider moment when he discovered the power of social media.

“Readers are simply looking for something other than superheroes or horror,” continued Davis. “With our bio comics, we strive to bring these new readers evenhanded, well-researched looks at some of their favorite celebrities.”

This news comes a week after the “Old Town Road” artist was hit with some legal news. As reported by AllHipHop.com, he is being sued for stealing the pregnant promotion from a metal rapper.
