Nicki Minaj Says Hubby Kenneth Petty Could Care Less About Negative Press

(AllHipHop News) Nicki Minaj is urging bloggers to quit gossiping about her husband after he appeared to shove a singer away from the rap superstar while attending the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival festivities.

The “Barbie Dreams” hitmaker returned to her native Trinidad to ride a float earlier this week, when she donned an elaborate blue and purple feathered costume, which featured a jeweled corset, and left little to the imagination.

She was joined by her new husband, Kenneth Petty, for the street celebrations, but he didn’t appear to be in the party mood and was spotted pushing singer Iwer George’s arm away from Nicki Minaj in the middle of his performance, after attempting to get the hip-hop star involved in his set atop the float.

Video footage of the incident subsequently surfaced on social media, prompting fans to encourage Mr. Petty to “loosen up.”

Nicki Minaj responded to one of the comments online on Wednesday, admitting she had not properly prepared him for the laid back nature of the celebrations.

“He don’t understand anything about our culture,” she replied. “I apologize on his behalf. He’s always in security mode. All love. Love my country to death. Love my ppl (people) to death. Period…

“I should’ve told him it’s a very comfortable family atmosphere. He’s never been to a carnival in his life…”

However, Nicki Minaj returned to Instagram to make it clear she was tired of reading all the headlines about her man’s behavior while insisting Mr. Petty couldn’t care less about the media coverage.

Alongside a photo of the couple during the carnival, she wrote, “Rappers would kill for this attention chile (child). Lol at night when we go to bed I say ‘babe u was all over the blogs today.’ He be like ‘oh word?’

“he rlly don’t have social media to see y’all write think pieces about him chile…‼️”

And Nicki Minaj continued to bash bloggers for the negative press about Petty, who has a criminal history, on Twitter.

“My husband be all over the blogs & he don’t even know it,” she posted. “No social media to see y’all talk about him more than y’all talk bout these rappers dats out here doin the most for y’all attention…”

“Ppl get so mad when they see u happy. Just laugh & keep it pushin. Life is beautiful,” she concluded.

Nicki Minaj wed Petty, a registered sex offender who also previously served time for manslaughter, in October of 2019.

Blac Chyna Vows Kardashian’s Attempt To Meddle In Child Custody War With Rob

(AllHipHop News) Blac Chyna “suffered significant emotional distress” after her ex-fiance Rob Kardashian requested to change the pair’s custody arrangements of three-year-old daughter Dream because he deemed his former love an unfit parent.

The reality star filed papers in court on January 3rd, asking a judge to grant him primary custody of Dream. In the request, he made several claims about Chyna’s alleged partying lifestyle and drink and drug usage – which her lawyer dismissed as “absurd” at the time.

The judge denied Kardashian’s request, but details of the ex parte motion were revealed on Thursday as part of an ongoing civil litigation battle between the former couple.

The documents state that Chyna was “shocked to learn” about Kardashian’s emergency motion, which would “permanently change the Custody Order for Dream so that Chyna would only be permitted to see her daughter from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday with a ‘monitor’ present, rather than the 5 days a week she now sees and cares for precious Dream.”

While the motion was denied, Chyna was still “forced to expend time and resources to oppose Rob’s baseless motion.”

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Chyna’s lawyer Lynne Ciani said: “(Chyna has) suffered significant emotional distress as a result (of Rob’s motion). All along, Chyna has only wanted to peacefully co-parent precious Dream with her ex-fiance, Rob Kardashian. Chyna is an excellent mother who loves her son King Cairo and her daughter Dream Renee more than anything in this world.

“The current custody arrangement for Dream agreed to by Rob long ago is working perfectly fine. Dream gets to spend very special bonding time with her brother King and also time with her dad, who unquestionably loves his daughter very much.”

She concluded: “Chyna will not back down from Rob and his family’s attempt to take away her agreed-upon custody of Dream. She will continue to take all necessary steps to protect her children, including defeating Rob’s and his family’s latest attempt to undermine Chyna’s joy as a mother to Dream.”

Will Smith’s Bel-Air Athletics Presents Miami-Inspired Apparel Collection

(AllHipHop News) Entertainment icon Will Smith is originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but he has always shown love to Miami, Florida. A Top 20 single from 1998 was named after the city and the $800 million Bad Boys movie franchise was filmed in the metropolitan area.

Smith is once again shining a light on Miami with a new Bel-Air Athletics limited-edition collection. “Bel-Air Miami (Home/Away)” draws inspiration from 1980s/1990s Miami Dolphins and Miami Hurricanes uniforms.

“Miami just agrees with me spiritually, vibrationally and emotionally,” states Will Smith. “I just believe places have that for certain people and it’s an X-factor.”

The 24-piece, unisex line includes the Bengal Varsity Jacket, the Split-Time Hoodie, the VK Miami tees, the Bel-Air Bengal tee, and Bengal Socks. Miami Heat All-Star Bam Adebayo was named one of the ambassadors for “Bel-Air Miami (Home/Away).”

“From music to movies, Miami has always been Will’s second home and we wanted to showcase that special connection with this collection,” said Samyr Laine, the Brand General Manager for Bel-Air Athletics. “It was important for us to capture Miami’s distinct look and feel while merging it with our brand’s signature style.”

Meek Mill Unveils Limited-Release Royal Blue Colorway DreamChasers Hat

(AllHipHop News) In 2019, Grammy-nominated recording artist Robert “Meek Mill” Williams was announced as the new co-owner and creative director of the American sports apparel retailer Lids. The Philadelphia representative released a red colorway DreamChasers cap later that year.

Meek Mill is now back with a blue colorway version of the DreamChasers hat. The limited-release will be available at Lids stores in major markets and on lids.com beginning February 29.

“My fans have been asking for more LIDS colorways and options outside of snapbacks,” said the Championships album creator. “I’ve been listening to the feedback and I’m glad we can bring the Royal Blue hat line to the masses – both as a snapback and a fitted. We want to take the headwear game to the next level.”

A percentage of the proceeds from the individual sale of each DreamChasers hat will be donated to the REFORM Alliance. Meek Mill is the co-founder of the criminal justice reform organization alongside Michael Rubin, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, Robert Kraft, Robert F. Smith, Clara Wu Tsai, Laura Arnold, Michael Novogratz, and Daniel S. Loeb.

Charlamagne Tha God Promotes Michael Bloomberg’s “Black Agenda” On CNN

(AllHipHop News) Charlamagne Tha God may not be an official surrogate for former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, but The Breakfast Club host sure sounds like one. He is clearly a supporter of Bloomberg’s economic justice plan for Black America.

On Thursday, Charlamagne stopped by CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront to discuss the current Democratic Primary race. The outspoken media personality talked about why he switched his focus from one ex-mayor to another.

“I do like [former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s] Douglass Plan. That has since changed. I like the Greenwood Initiative that Mayor Bloomberg is presenting as far as the Black agenda. But I still like the Douglass Plan though,” Charlamagne told Burnett.

Bloomberg has been facing significant backlash for repeatedly defending the stop-and-frisk police program in New York City which a U.S. federal court ruled violated the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights of African-Americans and Latinos. The multi-billionaire only apologized for backing stop-and-frisk right before announcing his presidential candidacy.

“All the criticism is deserving. I give him criticism. When it comes to things like the stop-and-frisk policy, there are people that are still being affected by that today so you always have to hold them accountable,” said Charlamagne on CNN. “I’m voting for my interest in 2020, and my interests are Black people.”

He continued, “So when I look at the Greenwood Initiative – [Bloomberg] wants to create 100,000 new Black-owned businesses, he wants a million new Black homeowners, he wants to put $70 billion into the poorest and most disenfranchised neighborhoods in the country. I have to look at that as a Black man and say, ‘That would be good for our people.'”

The Bloomberg campaign is reportedly paying social media influencers to post positive content about the 78-year-old businessman online. There have also been allegations that Bloomberg used his vast wealth to fund down-ballot candidates as a way to secure endorsements from influential Black political leaders.

As a preemptive defense against accusations of being on the politician’s payroll, Charlamagne Tha God insisted, “I’m not one of the Black people that Mayor Bloomberg bought off by the way.”

Lil Uzi Vert Hints At Final Release Date For ‘Eternal Atake’ Album

(AllHipHop News) Fans of Lil Uzi Vert have been waiting for his sophomore studio album ever since Luv Is Rage 2 arrived in 2017. Nearly three years later, Uzi still has not dropped the follow-up.

During an Instagram Live broadcast last night, the Philadelphia native gave his followers hope that a new LP is coming soon. Uzi could be heard saying, “Eternal Atake. Two weeks.” That would put the project’s release date around Friday, March 13.

Lil Uzi Vert has been teasing Eternal Atake for years. He dropped cover art for the album back in 2018. That same year he told a concert crowd in his hometown that Eternal Atake was done before saying he “deleted everything” just a few weeks later.

In April 2019, Uzi dropped the singles “That’s a Rack” and “Sanguine Paradise.” Last December, he returned with “Futsal Shuffle 2020” which became his biggest hit since “XO Tour Llif3” in 2017.

When a Twitter user recently joked that Uzi should drop his album before Rihanna dropped her next album, the 25-year-old rapper/singer responded, “We on the same team if I drop she drop IF SHE DROP I DROP.”

Jhené Aiko Links Up With Future & Miguel For “Happiness Over Everything (H.O.E.)” Music Video

(AllHipHop News) Three of the most popular contemporary crooners joined forces for a new record. Jhené Aiko recruited Future and Miguel as guest features on her “Happiness Over Everything (H.O.E.)” single.

The song will appear on the forthcoming studio album Chilombo. Before that LP arrives on March 6, Jhené, Future, and Miguel linked up for the “Happiness Over Everything (H.O.E.)” music video.

“I hope she don’t think that I think that she some kinda hoe. I don’t care, that just lets me know that she knows what she wants, yeah. Baby, I won’t judge,” sings Miguel in the chorus. Future adds a few “freak” ad-libs to the hook as well.

Over the last year, Aiko released the songs “Triggered (Freestyle),” “None of Your Concern” featuring Big Sean, and “P*$$Y Fairy (OTW).” Chilombo will also include contributions from H.E.R., Ab-Soul, Nas, John Legend, and Ty Dolla $ign.

Jhené Aiko’s previous studio album was 2017’s Trip. That project debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart with 32,000 first-week units. The RIAA eventually awarded Trip with a Gold certification.

Did Megan Thee Stallion Respond To Meek Mill’s Comments About Twerking?

(AllHipHop News) Since her arrival on the scene, Megan Thee Stallion has become just as well known for twerking on social media as she is for spitting rhymes. Some people love to see women share their ass-shaking skills online, but Meek Mill is apparently over watching twerk videos.

“Twerking is like a guy with big stacks of money hanging out his pocket so everybody can see lol. [I’m] tired of seeing all that sh*t lol. Y’all burnt twerking out ,” tweeted Meek on Thursday afternoon.

Six hours later Megan tweeted, “I hate a ‘pick me’ ass n#### sick of these fake woke ass men.” That statement was widely considered a response to Meek’s unsolicited opinion on twerking.

The “Big Ole Freak” rapstress also added, “I’m using ‘Pick me’ as when you just saying sh*t that you believe will get you a pat on the back/acceptance from other people.”

Is Gayle King Dodging Snoop Dogg In His Attempt To Apologize Again?

(AllHipHop News) Snoop Dogg was supported by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Tyler Perry after lashing out at broadcaster Gayle King over a controversial Kobe Bryant interview question, although they wished he had tackled the issue “a little differently.”

The rap veteran put King on blast online for bringing up the late basketball icon’s rape case during an early February chat with Bryant’s friend and fellow athlete Lisa Leslie.

In a video posted on Instagram, Snoop slammed King as a “funky dog head b##ch” and appeared to threaten her, raging, “How dare you try to tarnish my motherf##king homeboy’s reputation…? Respect the family and back off, b##ch, before we come get you.”

His angry rant led to Oprah Winfrey’s best friend receiving a number of death threats, and Snoop, who faced a public backlash himself, later issued an apology for his tough-talking, insisting he was wrong for calling her out so viciously.

Snoop recently addressed the headline-grabbing incident during an appearance on Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk” series, which debuted on Wednesday, insisting he was only trying to “protect” Bryant’s widow, Vanessa, and her family.

He claims there were actually a lot of Bryant fans who shared his point of view: “You would think it was more people against me, there was more people with me.”

“It made me feel like I had too much power,” he said of how others began treating King after he spoke out. “And at that particular time, I was abusing it. That’s just what I felt, and I had to get it right.”

Snoop credits his mother, former church choir director Beverly Tate, with helping him realize the error of his ways.

“My mother raised me in church and she raised me to respect women,” the hip-hop star explained. “It was certain things she said to me that took me back to being a little kid. And when your mama can make you feel like a kid, that’s when you gotta get right…”

Snoop added, “She didn’t say I was wrong, she was just giving me, ‘You know I raised you better. You’re a representation of us. Every woman that has ever crossed your life, you’re a representation of that.’”

The rapper was also contacted by famous friends like Diddy and filmmaker Perry, who gave him their backing but encouraged him to rethink his choice of words.

“When this thing happened with Gayle I got calls from Tyler Perry, Puff Daddy (Diddy), (news commentator) Van Jones, powerful black men and they didn’t bash me,” Snoop said. “They was just like, ‘Brother we got your back if you need. But we think you should’ve said… it a little differently.’

“We got a real brotherhood going on behind the scenes.”

Snoop has yet to speak directly to King, but he has made various attempts to get in touch: “(I) reached out through her friends, her associates and I even DM’d (direct messaged) her (on social media), sending her a prayer, letting her know I apologize to her.”

Basketball icon Bryant was killed alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others in a California helicopter crash in late January.

A public memorial for the Los Angeles Lakers legend and aspiring sports star Gianna was held at the team’s home venue, the Staples Center, on Monday.

Eliza Reign Goes Off On Future For Saying Child Is A “Check Baby”

(AllHipHop News) Future says that his latest baby mama is calling their new bundle of joy “the check baby” and doesn’t claim the little 9-month-old girl because her mama is shady and purposely got knocked up.

The rapper filed legal documents accusing Eliza of taking fertility pills when she started having sex with him.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B82bsRcJQLU

She also allegedly started researching how much money his other children’s mothers received in child support after he had a bit of her “goodie goodie.”

In the sing-songy words of Tamar and Toni Braxton, Future must have a “ding-a-ling made of gold.” Why else would the Atlanta-based autotune-using emcee have so many children, by so many women?

Or maybe it is his personality?

Doubt that. Especially when, the “Life is Good” rapper says that his latest baby mama is calling their new bundle of joy, “the check baby.”

According to court documents, Future doesn’t claim the little 9-month-old girl because her mama is shady and purposely got knocked up. Apparently, he forgot how unprotected sex leads to babymaking.

And now, he is asking a Broward County Judge to nix the case against him.

According to Future, his unclaimed daughter only needs about $450 a month to live and that’s all he is trying to toss out.

This would be a definite dent in her plans as she has been bragging about her check baby for a while to her friends.

Eliza snapped on Instagram and appears to be threatening Future with another lawsuit for defamation. Take a look:

Fireman Band$: Blazing His Way Out Of Brooklyn With New Music

Fireman Band$ describes himself as “a fireball, mixed with love and passion.”

Literally. Beyond the explosive energy in his music, his physical appearance demands attention in any given situation.

Rocking a Balenciaga shirt, fire-themed pants, fire nail polish, fire face tats, and red dreads (also reminiscent of fire), the Brooklyn bred rapper arrives in Los Angeles eager to chase his dreams in the music industry.

The “Lose It” artist is also CEO of his own collective titled Green Light Gang, which hails the mantra: “everything is a go!” In order to achieve greatness, you have to go for it. The green light reminds you there are no boundaries in life. Fireman has recently been locked in the studio perfecting his craft, tapping in with standout producers such as 808 Mafia and Bankroll Got It.

AllHipHop caught up with Fireman Band$ shortly before the release of his new single “Lost It,” which fans can expect on his debut EP arriving this Spring.

AllHipHop: Being from Brooklyn, what were you seeing growing up?

Fireman Band$: A lot of culture. A lot of West Indian culture. A lot of violence, and music was my scapegoat.

AllHipHop: Who were your biggest influences growing up?

Fireman Band$: My biggest influences were Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Eminem, Busta Rhymes, of course Tupac and Biggie Smalls. They all had their own thing I liked, whether it was character or ambition to keep going. I like Tupac’s attitude, that badass attitude. I embody all of them in one.

AllHipHop: What was Fireman like as a kid?

Fireman Band$: I was definitely bad as hell. [laughs] Not even the streets, I was more bad in school. My dad would literally whoop my ass every day. I was the goofball in class. I was that guy. I’d throw crumpled paper at the teacher. Send love letters to the girls in the class, I was that guy.

AllHipHop: At what point did you realize this music thing was forreal?

Fireman Band$: The music became real once I started doing it, I was 18. I was actually incarcerated at the time for some misdemeanor bulls##t. Basically I was hearing songs on the radio because they give you a walkman in jail. I’m like “this music is trash, I could do this.” I started writing music. It got really real when I did my first show in Brooklyn.

AllHipHop: What were you locked up for?

Fireman Band$: To be honest, I don’t even remember because that was not my first time in jail. [chuckles] I was 18, it was a crazy experience.

AllHipHop: What’d you learn behind bars?

Fireman Band$: I don’t think I learned a g###### thing. I wound up going back to jail a few more times, but it gave me more hunger because I realized I had to get out of here and do something with my life. I went back to jail because I started trappin’ and started selling drugs. But I was selling drugs to afford my music career because I didn’t have money. I was not good with keeping a job.

AllHipHop: Why do they call your music “mosh pit rap”?

Fireman Band$: Because people just turn up and mosh pit every time my song plays. That’s really what it is. Honestly, I wouldn’t even call it mosh pit rap. It’s a mixture of things because I have all kinds of music. Once all my music starts coming out, people are really not going to be able to label me as one specific kind of person. I’m just going to be an artist, that’s really what I want to do.

AllHipHop: How’d you get your name?

Fireman Band$: Fireman, I was thinking of superheroes or evil villains. Superman, Spiderman. I’ve always dealt with having a fire name. My nickname growing up was Salsa Picante, which means hot sauce in Spanish. I was a basketball player and my idol who was playing basketball, his name is actually Hot Sauce. So I was the Spanish version of him. I kept a fire when it came using the superhero/villain name. I’m like “hmm, Fireman!” Then obviously the term ‘bands’ means money. Also, my last name’s Santana. My friends called me Bandtana. I just shortened it so it was Fireman Band$.

AllHipHop: What can we expect from your new single “Lose It”?

Fireman Band$: You can expect a lot of energy. A lot of fun. The music video’s dope, I shot it in the mountains. We went snowboarding. I never snowboarded before in my life. We went to the highest mountain possible. Because I skated before, I thought that this would be an easy task — but Lord knows it was not. I almost killed myself 5 different times.

There were professional snowboarders that said how they had life-threatening injuries at one point, I’m like “f##k.” Mind you, there’s no way to get down unless you skated down. It was all or nothing. I slid down the mountain most of it, but I got some good shots. The song is an amazing song and the video is really lit.

AllHipHop: What is it you want fans to get from your story?

Fireman Band$: Don’t stop. I came up with this team called Green Light Gang. A green light means go. Go for your dreams or goals. I’ve been in jail, I’ve been in situations where I wouldn’t be alive. Don’t let nothing stop you from doing what you want. Sometimes people’s opinions can make a person change their outlook on things, I just say f##k what everybody else thinks and just do you.

AllHipHop: What is it you want to do ultimately?

Fireman Band$: Ultimately, I want to definitely change the world with my music. Definitely want to give back to communities that are less fortunate. I want to buy my mom a house and a car, and buy my kids a house and cars. Get married and have children.

AllHipHop: How old are your children?

Fireman Band$: 5 and 6.

AllHipHop: What’s the best part of being a father?

Fireman Band$: The best part of being a dad is seeing my kids, they’re the younger version of me. I get to relive my childhood.

AllHipHop: When did you get your first face tat?

Fireman Band$: I believe I was 17. I’m 26. My first tat was actually the kiss. At that point, I was a real ladies man and thought it was real player-like to be like “oh yeah, the girls love kissing on me.” That was my attitude and I put a bunch of kisses all over me.

AllHipHop: What do your parents think of the tattoos?

Fireman Band$: My mom cursed me out a bunch of times. After the 10th tattoo, she was over it. She’s like “do what you want.”

R. Kelly Defaults In Case Over Sexual Abuse Of 16-Year-Old

(AllHipHop News) A judge has ruled embattled singer R. Kelly defaulted on a sex abuse lawsuit in Chicago, Illinois after failing to show up in court.

The civil lawsuit was filed by Heather Williams, who claims she met the star on a Chicago street in 1998 and he lured her into having sex with him when she was 16.

Judge Moira S. Johnson granted the default judgment against the “I Believe I Can Fly hitmaker,” who is currently being held in custody, after he was absent from yet another hearing in the case, after previously skipping appearances for hernia surgery and refusing transportation from jail.

The case will be up for a final hearing on March 10th.

R. Kelly, full name Robert Sylvester Kelly, is scheduled for an April trial in Chicago federal court on charges of creating and possessing child pornography and sexual exploitation of a minor.

He is also scheduled to go to trial in July in New York federal court on racketeering, sex-trafficking and bribery charges.

However, his lawyer Steve Greenberg is hopeful the Chicago trial will be postponed after the “Ignition” star was hit with fresh federal charges that he sexually abused another minor victim over four years, starting when she was 14 or 15 years old, on Valentine’s Day.

Kelly will be arraigned on the new indictment on March 5th.

Watch The Trailer For The Jordan Peele-Produced ‘Candyman’ Movie

(AllHipHop News) Back in 1992, filmmaker Bernard Rose introduced a new slasher film character called Candyman. Oscar-winner Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us) has taken on the task of producing a fresh version of the classic horror flick.

The new Candyman stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Colman Domingo. This time the movie was directed by Nia DaCosta (Top Boy) who is also credited as a screenwriter along with Peele and Win Rosenfeld.

A description for DaCosta’s Candyman reads:

For as long as residents can remember, the housing projects of Chicago’s Cabrini Green neighborhood were terrorized by a word-of-mouth ghost story about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, easily summoned by those daring to repeat his name five times into a mirror. In present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down, visual artist Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and his girlfriend, gallery director Brianna Cartwright (Teyonah Parris), move into a luxury loft condo in Cabrini, now gentrified beyond recognition and inhabited by upwardly mobile millennials.

With Anthony’s painting career on the brink of stalling, a chance encounter with a Cabrini Green old-timer (Colman Domingo) exposes Anthony to the tragically horrific nature of the true story behind Candyman. Anxious to maintain his status in the Chicago art world, Anthony begins to explore these macabre details in his studio as fresh grist for paintings, unknowingly opening a door to a complex past that unravels his own sanity and unleashes a terrifyingly viral wave of violence that puts him on a collision course with destiny.

Candyman is scheduled to hit North American theaters on June 12 via Universal Pictures, Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures, and Monkeypaw Productions in association with BRON Creative. David Kern, Aaron L. Gilbert, and Jason Cloth serve as executive producers. The film is based on the Candyman motion picture written by Bernard Rose and “The Forbidden” short story by Clive Barker.

Things Get Awkward When Angela Simmons & Romeo Miller Show Up At The Same Event [VIDEO]

(AllHipHop News) The failed romantic relationship between Angela Simmons and Romeo Miller is playing out on the current season of Growing Up Hip Hop. Viewers will get to see what happens when Rev Run’s daughter and Master P’s son cross paths at Egypt Criss’ engagement party.

“I’m not approaching Romeo, and I didn’t do nothing wrong to him. Whether he talks to me right now or doesn’t, that’s on you,” says Simmons during her on-camera interview.

The scene is filled with an overwhelming level of awkwardness as Simmons, Miller, and other cast members recognize the two estranged friends are clearly avoiding each other. Romeo eventually walks over to talk to Angela’s sister, Vanessa Simmons, which causes an even more uncomfortable vibe in the venue.

Growing Up Hip Hop airs Thursdays at 9 pm ET on WE tv. Tonight’s “New Chapters” episode will also cover Rev Run feeling blindsided by his son JoJo getting cold feet before his wedding as well as Egypt’s fiancé Sammattick exposing a secret that nobody saw coming.

Aminé Explains Why He Disagrees With Tory Lanez Saying Rap Is In A Horrible Place

(AllHipHop News) Adam Aminé Daniel was set up to be one of the next big Hip Hop stars when he was chosen for the 2017 XXL Freshman Class. After dropping the Good for You album in 2017 and the OnePointFive mixtape in 2018, Aminé was relatively quiet in 2019.

The 25-year-old rapper is now back with “Shimmy.” Aminé premiered the new single on Apple Music, and he spoke to Lowkey on the streaming platform about another body of work potentially arriving soon.

“I definitely, definitely, definitely have a project coming. That’s a fact. That’s the most information I can give,” offered Aminé. I feel like I’m here to stay now. I feel like I paid my dues. I’m still gonna pay my dues for the rest of my life. I’m not trying to shy away from being humble in any way. I think that’s super important. But on a fun tip, I do believe I’m in my bag.”

Lowkey also asked the Portland native about Tory Lanez’s comments from November 2019 where the Canadian said he felt like rap is in a horrible place at the moment. Aminé responded by name-dropping a squad of lyricists from Buffalo, a veteran from Long Island, and a crossover megastar from the Bronx.

“I really f*ck with Tory. I like his music a lot. But I kind of disagree. I think Hip Hop is in a really cool place right now,” Aminé told Lowkey. “Like Griselda and Roc Marciano are taking over, and it’s like dope to see that because you don’t get to see that happen a lot.”

The “Caroline” hitmaker added, “Fans and the general public are getting smarter. They’re just out here, honestly, open to all kinds of genres. Like a kid could be listening to Griselda and then Cardi [B] in the same playlist… I think Hip Hop is in a good place. That’s my opinion. I listen to all these guys.”
