Jurgen Masati Is Becoming an Unstoppable Influence in the UK Music Scene

From “If We Never Met to Shelter” and now “Changes”, Jurgen Masati has given us some of the most impressive top tracks this year. These two songs received massive attention in and out of the UK, with many praising Jurgen’s musical talents. But his journey in the music scene is just getting started.

The young artist has written and released more than five songs since his debut, with “Changes” becoming a global track. Jurgen’s unique music writing style, impeccable voice, and ability to express emotions through smooth, lyrical flows are helping Jurgen cement his spot in the brutally competitive space as an independent artist.

Jurgen has taken a unique approach to create his music. He has not confined himself to one genre or specific style but instead focuses on writing music that best tells the intended message. His song “Changes” is the perfect example of this.

“Changes” has a different vibe altogether. The track brings to light Jurgen’s strong vocals, power, and potential to surge through the music scene in multiple ways.

According to Jurgen, one of his goals is to change how people view and consume music by bringing more timeless songs to the industry. He is creating music that reflects everyday life and many issues in today’s society. He also uses his platforms and music to inspire young creators, especially independent artists.

The global music scene is highly crowded, and reaching the top can be challenging. These include everything from lack of proper resources to high marketing and promotional costs. It is even harder when you are an independent artist because you must handle everything from show bookings to studios and music promotion.

While it is difficult, it does not mean you can’t reach the top. By sharing his story as an independent artist who built a loyal fan base and is now making headlines, Jurgen hopes to inspire other independent artists, especially those getting started.

His brand perfectly represents what years of hard work, resilience, and skills can get you. Jurgen managed to create the right impact right after entering the scene. He worked on his music skills and believed in his passion. Today, his songs are getting maximum plays despite him being an independent artist.

His advice to other independent artists is to invest in their brands, as it is the biggest part of your story. Your brand is a representation of yourself as an artist, and how you carry yourself online and offline can affect your success, says Jurgen. He also adds the importance of working hard and having your own distinctive style as an artist.

There are so many artists in the industry, and to convince people to buy your product/service, you must stand out from the rest. This doesn’t mean you should try to please others and “fake it till you make it,” adds Jurgen. You just have to be true to yourself, and your fan base will find you.

Expert Music Executive Stan Sheppard Fighting For Chicago Radio Stations To Promote More Positive Music Over Violence

In an effort to curb violent confrontations among young teens in the Chicago area, veteran music executive Stan Sheppard is going on a public relations campaign to ask the two major radio stations in the city of Chicago, WGCI-FM & 92.3-FM, to curtail playing new songs which may promote gang violence, drug dealing, and manufacturing during daily school hours.

Stan Sheppard estimates that the out-of-control gang violence in and around Chicago has taken over 400 people’s lives this year alone and can be expected to top 650 murders by year’s end given the current trend.

Sheppard is not advocating for music censorship, he is only asking if the major radio stations could consider holding off on playing songs that call for Black-on-Black violence while the young teenagers are heading to-and-from school.

Speaking to Chad Kiser, Sheppard poses a simple question, “Why can’t the radio stations play the more gangster-type of music after 6:00 PM when the teens are off the school grounds?”

He continues by saying, “that the music amps up the young teens during school hours and the aggressive nature of the gang-inspired lyrics could potentially lead directly to confrontations on and off the school sites”.

Stan Sheppard’s musical list of clients he has launched and managed during his career in rap music while selling over 24 million records worldwide since 1994, includes the multi-platinum/gold-selling artists DJ QuikDJ BattlecatKoKaneSuga Free, and Mausberg.

Prince’s Estate Sucks The Life Out Of “Purple Rain” Energy Drink

Prince’s estate recently shut down Bang Energy’s attempt to trademark the phrase “purple rain.”

A tribunal at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office formally rejected energy drink company Bang’s attempt to trademark the phrase “purple rain” for their brand.

A Bang Energy subsidiary requested the trademark in 2020 for use on their energy drinks, dietary supplements, and sports beverages.

However, the judges decided that the phrase “uniquely and unmistakably” belongs to the late musician Prince, who released his iconic song “Purple Rain” in 1984.

“Consumers encountering applicant’s mark, when used in connection with applicant’s goods, will presume a connection between ‘purple rain’ and Prince,” one judge said during the ruling.

As evidence, the ruling cited a survey that asked respondents “what comes to mind” when hearing the phrase; approximately 63 percent responded with Prince, his album, single, or musical film of the same name.

Attorneys for the Prince estate wrote in their filing to oppose the trademark: “For the great majority of consumers, the only significance the term ‘purple rain’ has is to identify Prince and the image he made famous.”

After the verdict was handed down, Bang Energy CEO Jack Owoc said in a statement that he was a “big fan” of the artist.

He added, “We greatly respect Prince and his estate and will not ‘rain’ on their parade. Maybe we can negotiate a deal in the future that is mutually beneficial to both parties.”

Prince died in 2016.

Nico Chiara Has Big Plans In The Works

Nico Chiara is no stranger to success in the music industry. Since he was just a child Nico knew he was destined to make music. Drawing inspiration from a variety of influences throughout his life. “I’ve always been known for my modern, yet classical sound. My beats always give the artist and listeners a sense of familiarity.” Nico Chiara when asked about his influences in music.

Chiara adamantly believes in his creative process, and that in order to create the right vibe on a track the surrounding energy must match that mood. “The creative process starts much earlier for me than in the studio, I think a lot about my next session and let my environment, my vibe/mood flow into the music. When I’m in a bad mood I definitely can’t make a happy beat – technically yes, but the beat would be soulless.”

The time and countless hours of work that Nico has put into his craft are evident. He’s never seen any other option but to achieve success in the music industry. So what’s next for Nico?

“ Getting my sound back on the Billboards charts again”. When asked if he could change anything in the industry and Chiara humbly responds, “That young artist has more opportunities to be heard.” Nico signed off with a message to those artists on their way up..

Diddy Says Working With Dr. Dre Was A Dream Come True

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has reunited with Dr. Dre following their feud.

The hip-hop mogul took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a slideshow of himself and the legendary producer at work in the recording studio.

“Yesterday, one of my biggest dreams finally came true,” he wrote in the caption. “I remember the first time I heard @drdre’s production. It gave me clear direction on the level of Producer that I wanted to be. Last night, I got the chance to work with this man and to see his genius as he coached me through vocals. He reminded me of myself, but with a different style and way more focused. I gotta step my focus up!”

Calling the recording session “a great experience,” Diddy noted that he was thrilled to team up with Dre.

“I hope one day ya’ll get to have the same experience with someone that you always looked up to as a hero,” the 52-year-old added.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch6ANY2rWeO/?hl=en

Dr. Dre and Diddy were once locked in a violent feud between their respective labels, death row records, and Bad Boy entertainment.

The issues led to the murders of both labels, marquee artists Tupac Shakur who was shot and killed in an unsolved murder in 1996, and the notorious big, who was gunned down 7 months later in 1997.

Diddy and Dre’s collaboration also comes eight years after they feuded over Apple’s purchase of the entrepreneur’s headphones brand Beats.

Back in May 2014, Tyrese Gibson shared a video online revealing that Apple bosses were purchasing the brand for $3.2 billion before the deal was finalized.

When Diddy saw the clip, he told Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine, which led Apple chief executive Tim Cook to drop $200 million from the deal.

However, Diddy denied the pair held any longstanding resentment toward each other when he invited Dre onstage during the final night of the Bad Boys Reunion Tour in 2016

Dua Lipa Claims She Couldn’t Have Stolen Hit Song “Levitating”

Dua Lipa’s lawyer has insisted she’s “never heard” the tracks she is accused of infringing in a copyright lawsuit about her song “Levitating.”

The singer was sued in March by songwriters L. Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer, who claimed that the singer copied their 1979 song “Wiggle and Giggle All Night” and 1980 tune “Don Diablo.”

The songwriting duo alleged that Levitating is “substantially similar” to “Wiggle and Giggle All Night,” stealing its “signature melody” and “compositional elements.”

Lawyer Christine Lepera, representing Dua and her co-defendants, responded by filing a letter to a federal judge in New York.

In the letter, she insisted that the case should be dismissed immediately as Dua had no access or exposure to the tracks cited in the lawsuit.

“The “Levitating” writers never heard the (plaintiffs’) compositions. The alleged similarities – a descending scale in which each pitch is repeated on evenly spaced notes and a common clave rhythm – are unprotectable, and the result of the coincidental use of basic musical building blocks,” the letter to Hon. Katherine Polk Failla reads, reports Rolling Stone.

Lepera argued that the lawsuit “fails to plausibly allege a particular chain of events leading to access”, meaning there’s no evidence that Dua came into contact with “Wiggle and Giggle All Night.”

“With respect to ‘Wiggle,’ the complaint merely alleges it achieved certain success in the Netherlands four decades ago. This does not establish ‘saturation,’ and there is no allegation that the songwriters of Levitating were in the Netherlands – or, indeed, had even been born – at that time,” she added.

The songwriters’ attorney Jason T Brown said they were preparing to file a “full rebuttal” to the letter later this week.

Dua lipa also faces a separate copyright infringement lawsuit over “Levitating.”

She was sued earlier this year by reggae band Artikal Sound System for allegedly copying their 2017 song “Live Your Life.”

“Clueless” Actress Stacey Dash Mourns DMX A Year After His Death

Actor and ex-Fox News commentator who once feverishly supported former President Donald Trump, Stacey Dash, tearfully mourned rapper DMX on TikTok a year and a half after his premature demise.

The controversial influencer gave a heartfelt warning about addiction, including sharing personal details about her own sobriety.

The cousin of Dame Dash, Hip-Hop mogul and founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, at one time, the “Clueless” actor used to rock with rap’s elite and most likely crossed paths with The Dog.

But over the years, as evidenced by her recent appearance on BET’s Celebrity College Hill, she has disassociated with many things Black.

But in a video released on Wednesday, Aug. 31, her inner Tonya, Diane, Lori, Carla, and three times Kim, emerged to mourn an artist, she said was a great guy.

In the footage, a devastated Dash sobbed, “Ok, y’all. I was shamed. I didn’t know DMX died.”

“I didn’t know [he died] from a cocaine overdose,” she said before revealing that she is now “six years and one month clean.”

In 2021, Dash revealed she had a secret addiction to drugs to Dr. Oz. “It breaks my heart he lost to it … he lost to that demon of addiction,” the New York native said.

Adding a request to others, “Please, please don’t lose.”

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), in 2017, 19.7 million Americans (aged 12 and older) battled some form of substance use disorder. Drug addiction does not indicate that one person is bad, though some bad people are addicts. Genetics account for about 40% to 60% of a person’s risk of addiction, making it a medical condition and not a criminal one.

AllHipHop.com echoes Ms. Dash’s plea for people not to lose to addition.

Kanye West Takes Wyoming Ranch Off The Market

It seems that multi-hyphenate Kanye West will not be selling his Wyoming home after all.

Reports are not showing the producer and native Chicagoan took the $11 million ranch off the market earlier in the summer.

According to the NY Post, Yeezy purchased the 3,888-acre compound in 2019, the first of two ranches he has in the state. The property is known as Monster Lake and was originally bought for $8 million. West owns three of the eight parcels on Monster Lake ranch.

On the parcels, Kanye has eight luxury cabins, set up to accommodate 20 guests, a saloon, a restaurant, and meeting spaces. He recently constructed two new luxury cabins on the shoreline.

The parcel, called No. 7, consists of 640 acres and may be used for farming or hunting purposes. After the rapper put his Midas touch on the estate, creating a mystique throughout all the entertainment industry by recording hundreds of songs (some we may never hear), he increased its value.

The other property is 6,700 acres and ran him about $14.5 million and is located an estimated 50 miles away from Monster Lake.

In 2020, he boasted about his love for real estate, and attributed it to his personal maturation, tweeting “We have to evolve … Buy property … Buy land.”

He also noted he uses government money to do so.

Many are wondering why did he take it off the market? Reportedly, no one wanted to buy it.

‘She-Hulk’ Head Writer Talks Recruiting Megan Thee Stallion For Cameo Role

Hip Hop artist Megan “Thee Stallion” Pete appeared in episode 3 of Disney+’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Pete played an Asgardian shapeshifter pretending to be the Houston-bred entertainer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe program.

Entertainment Weekly spoke to She-Hulk head writer Jessica Gao. The former Rick and Morty writer’s conversation included explaining how Megan Thee Stallion got the cameo in the television series.

“We didn’t even know that we could dream that big,” said Jessica Gao. “When we wrote the script, all we knew was we needed to have a female celebrity who was very famous, very successful, and very beautiful.”

Gao added, “But we didn’t know if it was going to be an actress, or a model, or a musician. And depending on who it was, we knew we’d probably have to tweak the story a little bit to fit whoever we ended up casting.”

Jameela Jamil Thought Of Megan The Stallion For The ‘She-Hulk’ Appearance

Apparently, She-Hulk cast member Jameela Jamil suggested Megan Thee Stallion for the role. Jamil previously worked with the Traumazine album creator on the first two seasons of HBO Max’s voguing reality competition series Legendary.

Director Kat Coiro told EW, “The character was scripted as a celebrity who never in a billion years would we believe would date Dennis Bukowski. When Jameela suggested Megan, we all lost our minds.”

Additionally, Megan Thee Stallion played a character named Tina Snow in season 2 of the Starz drama P-Valley. Tina Snow is also Meg’s alter ego and the title of her 2018 EP. That Tina Snow project hosts the 2x-Platinum single “Big Ole Freak.”

Megan’s second studio album, Traumazine, came out on August 12, 2022. The 18-track body of work debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 chart with 63,000 first-week units. Traumazine features contributions by Key Glock, Latto, Pooh Shiesty, Rico Nasty, Jhené Aiko, Lucky Daye, Future, Sauce Walka, Lil’ Keke, Big Pokey, and Dua Lipa.

Lil Baby Meets With Georgia Gubernatorial Candidate Stacey Abrams

The political season for the 2022 mid-term elections is starting to heat up. In addition to U.S. House of Representatives and Senate seats being up for grabs, there are races for state-wide positions such as Stacey Abrams versus Brian Kemp in Georgia.

Notable Hip Hop figures will likely publicly step into the arena of politics as the November 8th elections draw closer. For example, Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams recently took part in a conversation with Atlanta-bred rap star Dominique “Lil Baby” Jones.

Fair Fight Action organization founder Stacey Abrams posted a brief video of her sitdown with Lil Baby on Instagram. Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Chief Operating Officer of Baby’s Quality Control Music label, also attended the meeting.

“It was a pleasure to meet with you and hear your story. And I appreciate you taking the time to hear mine. We have an election to win and support like yours reminds everyone that they have a place here too,” Abrams wrote to Lil Baby on Instagram.

A post shared by Stacey Abrams (@staceyabrams)

Last month, Stacey Abrams slammed Republican incumbent governor Brian Kemp for the cancelation of the Music Midtown festival in Atlanta. Rappers like Future, 2 Chainz, Denzel Curry, and Key Glock were listed as performers for the concert. Abrams blamed Kemp’s decision to sign a law that legalized carrying concealed handguns in public without a permit for the money-making event leaving the city.

Music Midtown organizers reportedly called off this year’s festival due to concern over being unable to ensure the attendees’ safety from gun violence. Critics also cited former Republican Governor Nathan Deal’s so-called Guns Everywhere Bill as a reason for the cancelation too.

Brian Kemp has regularly led Stacey Abrams in head-to-head polls for the Georgia governorship. The two politicians also faced off in the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial election. Kemp won that race against Abrams by a 50.2% to 48.8% margin.

Nav Addresses The Weeknd’s Leadership As XO Records Head

Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye is not just a chart-topping musician. The Canadian is also the co-founder of XO Records. The XO roster includes rapper/producer Nav.

Nav will drop the Demons Protected By Angels studio LP on September 9. Before that body of work hits the internet next week, the 32-year-old songwriter spoke with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1.

The Apple Music interview featured Nav talking about his de facto musical leader The Weeknd. In addition, Nav mentioned fellow XO Records co-founders Wassim “Sal” Slaiby and Amir “Cash” Esmailian.

“I feel like we all have similar backgrounds. We’re all from Canada. Me, Sal, Cash. And we all have immigrant parents,” said Nav. “We’re first generation. We come from hardworking parents that immigrated to Canada.”

The “Wrong Decisions” performer added, “So it’s, we get taught the same values. We’re very respectful. Abel’s the leader of the whole s###. And he’s a f###### angel. So he just leads by example and it just keeps trickling down.”

Nav Opens Up About Feeling Insecure

Navraj “Nav” Goraya was raised in the Rexdale neighborhood of Toronto, Ontario by Indian parents. According to the multi-time Juno Award nominee, his ethnicity played a role in issues of insecurity.

“I was very doubtful of myself and insecure, a little bit. And then faced a lot of rejection. I feel like being my race, I’m the first one, so a lot of people that feel like they should be in my place are hating on me and I’m like, ‘Whatever,'” expressed Nav.

He continued, “And just over time it just turned from overrated to over-hated and underrated. I just waited it out. For any young artist that’s facing that rejection, take notes from me and just keep going… And nobody remembers your failures. They only remember that time that you just hit it big.”

Nav’s forthcoming Demons Protected By Angels album follows Reckless in 2018, Bad Habits in 2019, and Good Intentions in 2020. Bad Habits and Good Intentions peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Nav also partnered with producer Metro Boomin for the Perfect Timing joint project.

Lil Meech Celebrates Theft Case Getting Dropped

Earlier this year, news broke that Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory faced criminal charges in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Law enforcement officials charged the BMF star with two counts of first-degree grand theft and one count of organized fraud.

Lil Meech was later released on a $150,000 bond. The case centered around Haimov Jewelers accusing the actor of trying to trade the brand’s $275,000 Richard Mille Roberto Mancini watch to another jeweler.

“You cannot trade a watch that wasn’t paid for to another jeweler. And take the next jeweler’s watch and not pay them as well. We all work hard for our money and do clean business,” stated Haimov Jewelers representatives back in May.

The company’s statement continued, “We reached out many, many times but you ignore [us]. If someone owed you $200K would you let that slide? We put our blood, sweat, and tears into making this business successful. We came from the [bottom].”

According to Lil Meech, authorities dropped the theft and fraud case. The 22-year-old son of infamous drug trafficker Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory took to his Instagram Story to celebrate his apparent legal victory.

The Shade Room captured Lil Meech’s Instagram Story about the Haimov Jewelers situation. The social media clip included a caption that reads, “God is Good. Case Dropped. Please Don’t Play With My Top.”

Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory portrays his father, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, in the drama series BMF. The Starz network renewed the 50 Cent-produced program for a second season after airing one episode of the first season.

The Game Calls YoungBoy Never Broke Again This Generation’s 2Pac

Tupac “2Pac” Shakur is widely considered one of the greatest rap stars of all time. The 1990s-era emcee helped elevate West Coast Hip Hop for future California-based artists like The Game.

The crew at Montreality recently spoke to The Game for a nearly 30-minute interview. During the sitdown conversation, the Drillmatic – Heart vs. Mind album creator compared modern-day rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again to 2Pac.

“NBA YoungBoy will be the 2Pac of this generation. Sometimes when you see an 18-year-old kid say, ‘NBA YoungBoy is better than 2Pac,’ it’s not because he actually is or 2Pac is better than NBA YoungBoy. It’s just the Michael Jordan/Kobe Bryant/Lebron James thing. It’s different eras of greatness,” stated The Game.

The 42-year-old rhymer continued, “You should just appreciate them now because an 18-year-old cannot appreciate or relate to Tupac because they weren’t even alive. 2Pac has been dead for 26 years, so an 18-year-old kid wasn’t even born for another six years after he died. So why would you expect him to relate to Tupac over NBA YoungBoy?”

YoungBoy Never Broke Again has built a loyal fanbase over the last seven years. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native earned four #1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart. He also led the Billboard Artist 100 chart for two weeks.

Before his death in 1996, Tupac Shakur released classic albums such as 1995’s Me Against the World and 1996’s All Eyez on Me. The RIAA certified the latter LP as Diamond, signifying 10 million units sold. Numerous posthumous projects, like 1996’s The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, arrived after Pac’s passing.

The Game dropped the 31-track Drillmatic – Heart vs. Mind on August 12. The Dr. Dre protégé’s discography also includes 2005’s The Documentary, 2006’s Doctor’s Advocate, 2008’s LAX, 2012’s Jesus Piece, and 2019’s Born 2 Rap.

Cops Launch Investigation Into Murder Of TKorStretch

London’s Metropolitan Police launched an appeal for video and photo evidence. Detectives investigating the murder of TKorStretch called for witnesses to come forward.

“At around 20:00hrs on Monday, 29 August, officers became aware of a stabbing in Ladbroke Grove,” cops said in a statement. Officers provided emergency first aid to 21-year-old Takayo until the arrival of paramedics. He was taken to a west London hospital where, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was sadly pronounced dead.”

DCI James Shirley of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “I know that there were several hundred people in the immediate area surrounding the murder and while the carnival environment made the management of and access to the scene difficult, it also meant that there were likely to have been a number of witnesses.”

50 Cent Bans “Crazy” Trey Songz From Tycoon Weekend

50 Cent is dealing with the aftermath of his Tycoon Weekend, and one person who is no longer welcome is Trey Songz.

As usual, the G Unit boss used his Instagram page to air out his grievances calling out the R&B singer for his “Crazy” behavior at his Houston event. 50 Cent shared a photo of Trey Songz, declaring the crooner is “BANNED FROM TYCOON.”

“Last TYCOON he crashed a Wraith,” 50 wrote. “This TYCOON he was acting crazy, wanting to fight and s### over the girls. He broke some s### up in his room. Nah tell @treysongz he can’t come. SMH.”

Though Trey Songz was seen partying this weekend, he has kept a low profile of late after being accused of sexual assault by several women.

One anonymous accuser filed a $20 million lawsuit against the recording artist but later dropped the suit. A judge dismissed the sexual assault and emotional distress legal action against Trey Songz at the accuser’s request in July.

Then, last month another woman came forward claiming that she was approached by one accuser’s attorney to make false accusations against Trey Songz in exchange for cash. She claims her lawyer offered her up to $200,000 to lie and say she witnessed the singer assault her friend, Jauhara Jeffries.

50 Cent Defends Trey Songz

50 Cent came to the defense of Trey Songz when the “Neighbors Know My Name” hitmaker was accused of domestic violence. Andrea Buera claimed the singer attacked her at a party during the 2018 NBA All-Stars Weekend.

He shared a photo of Buera alongside a money bag emoji, writing: “This stripper joint Andrea got Lisa bloom talking bout Trey hit her, everybody know he ain’t hit her this a money play smh anything to get the Bag. #thesehoescrazy.”

Trey Songz denied the allegations against him, stating, “I am being lied on and falsely accused for someone’s personal gain.”

“Anyone who has over 10 years [of] retail experience and is ready to change the world, post your Instagram handle or store location in the comments and we’ll find you,” Kanye wrote.

The “Eazy” rapper also fired a shot at Gap and Adidas after calling out Gap the day previous and Adidas earlier this year.

“Chainz said he got the mayor(‘s) number,” Ye wrote in the caption.

Jay-Z Clarifies He “Cheated” On God Did Verse

Jay-Z rarely hops on Twitter, but when he does, the Hip-Hop world listens, and Wednesday evening was no exception after Hov shared some details about how he recorded his ‘God Did” verse.

Earlier this week, during a filmed conversation with Rob Markman and Frazier Tharpe II, Young Guru, Hov’s long-time engineer, explained the Roc Nation boss spit his verse in one take. “[Jay-Z] walked in… he’s spitting the verse to me. One take.”

However, Jay-Z said that wasn’t exactly how it went down and clarified how it came together during a Wednesday night (Aug. 31) Twitter Spaces chat with DJ Khaled, Lenny S, and Rob Markman.

While Jay-Z was waiting for Khaled to send the “God Did” instrumental, Guru fashioned a makeshift track for him to practice on.

“So while we was waiting for you to send the beat, we was just playing the [loop] inside the control room; so I was going through it a couple times,” Jay-Z explained. “I was just rapping over like, any part, it kept looping and drops was happening in the wrong place.”

“I think I sent it to you like that, right?” Khaled said to Jay-Z. “Hov rapped over the hook, breaks — ’cause Guru was waiting for me to send the instrumental,” he explained. “When you sent it back, I was like, ‘This man rapping over the hook.’”

Jay-Z continued: “So I cheated a couple times before I went in the booth, I was playing it in the control room; so when I went in the booth it was pretty much a done deal.”  Listen to the conversation below.

Jay-Z & DJ Khaled Discuss “God Did”

Young Thug Asks Michael Phelps Bizarre Question From Jail; Olympic Gold Medalist Replies

Young Thug resurfaced on Twitter with a question for Olympian Michael Phelps, who provided an answer.

Although Young Thug is in jail, the YSL rapper managed to send a few Twitter posts on Wednesday (August 31). Thugger questioned if Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps could pull off a specific feat and tagged the gold medalist in the tweet.

“I’m talking with my roommate and we’re wondering if you could swim 100 miles from the middle of the ocean back to shore – @MichaelPhelps,” Young Thug wrote.

Roughly an hour and a half later, Phelps responded.

“Yeah,” he replied. “I think I could make it.”

Young Thug quickly sent a follow-up to Phelps.

“How long do you think it would take?” he wrote but received no answer.

Young Thug remains in jail following his arrest on gang-related charges in May. He and Gunna were the most notable figures indicted in a sweeping RICO case against YSL members.

Thugger was denied bond on three occasions. He was initially charged with conspiring to violate Georgia’s RICO Act and participating in street gang activity.

He was hit with an additional charge of participating in street gang activity, possession of a firearm while committing a felony, possession of a machine gun and three counts of violating Georgia’s controlled substances act in August.

Talib Kweli Claims Madlib’s Business Partner Egon Stole MF DOOM’s Rhyme Book

Talib Kweli accused Eothen “Egon” Alapatt of stealing MF DOOM’s rhyme book, among other allegations, in an Instagram post on Wednesday (August 31).

The Black Star member referred to Madlib’s longtime business partner as a culture vulture. Talib Kweli listed examples of Egon’s alleged misdeeds, which involved notable figures such as MF DOOM and J Dilla’s mother.

“One day the hiphop community is going to have to discuss what a lying, stealing, conniving culture vulture Eothen Apalatt AKA Egon from Now Again Records is,” Talib Kweli wrote. “This is a non Black person who routinely takes advantage of Black artists and brags about it.”

Talib Kweli specifically emphasized a claim about Egon stealing MF DOOM’s rhyme book. According to the post, Egon allegedly refused to give the book to the late rapper’s family.

“Today all I want to know is why Egon stole MF DOOM rhyme book and refuses to give it back to DOOM family, even after MF DOOM passed away,” he wrote. “MF DOOM officiated this mans wedding FOR FREE, but then later stopped rocking with him because of his devil ways. Someone tag nowagain and asking Egon why he stole MF DOOM rhyme book, he got me blocked. The era of the culture vulture is OVER.”
