Beyoncé Low-Key Came For Rihanna Once Upon A Time

Beyoncé.

We all know Beyoncé is a beast. At her height, she was wiping out just about every female singer that was out in the marketplace. Most of those singers were eviscerated from memory, commercials marketplace and other spaces in the music industry. Well, not memory because we love them all.

But there was one individual that Beyoncé was not able to get rid of. And that person is Rihanna. Somehow, the Barbadian beast was able to overcome, thrive and prosper in the era of Beyoncé. And some might argue that was actually the era of Rihanna.

RiRi continued to explore options in business, whereas Beyoncé sort of focused more on music. I know she has businesses as well, but it just seems like Rihanna disappeared from making music. We’re still waiting for that. But for a while there people like Ciara, Keri Hilson, Amerie and others had difficulty making big moves in the music game. Some even said that Beyoncé sabotage them, but that’s another rumor.

Beyoncé had a song called “Bow Down” a few years ago. The song reverberated pretty intensely, because people felt like she was talking directly to them! I know other women that were upset at the song because they felt it was disrespectful to women. You know B is a symbol of feminine solidarity! For the most part, we know Beyoncé to be a really nice person. But, she is a consummate competitor. So what happened?

The song “Bow Down” had a target. And that target was Rihanna. The people that cowrote the song, Rock City, just did an interview in a podcast and revealed that Rihanna was the desired target of bow down. I find this to be very interesting, because Jay Z was instrumental in Rihanna’s career. He basically made her successful. I suppose that gave Briana some safe Haven as well, especially when she was younger.

On another note, they say that the original song DEMO – “Man Down” was for Rihanna!

To this day, I don’t think that Beyoncé was able to destroy Rihanna. And, on the flip side, I’m not sure if she actually made efforts to do that. But, we do definitely know that Rihanna‘s existence influenced Beyoncé’s artistry. That Sasha Fierce personality was the response in my opinion.

Battle Over Prince’s $156 Million Estate Comes To An End With Assets Divided Up

The court battle over Prince’s estate ended six years after the singer’s death.

Prince passed away in April 2016 at the age of 57 from a fentanyl overdose, leaving his surviving family without a will. His death sparked a process known as probate, in which the courts decide how to distribute a deceased person’s estate.

Prince’s six half-siblings were made his legal heirs, and three sold their stakes to Primary Wave, which owns approximately half of the star’s estate.

The three remaining heirs have been in court grappling with Primary Wave for many years, with proceedings between both parties and two advisors seeking to decide how the $156 million estate should be divided.

At a hearing in Minnesota, a new agreement was rolled out which splits the holdings into two equal companies – Prince Legacy LLC for the heirs and advisers and Prince Oat Holdings LLC for Primary Wave. A judge signed off on the deal on Monday, Billboard reports.

A Primary Wave representative said in a statement that the company is “extremely pleased that the process of closing the Prince Estate has now been finalized.”

They continued, “Prince was an iconic superstar, and this transfer out of the court’s jurisdiction puts in place professional, skilled management… With the distribution of estate assets, we look forward to a strong and productive working relationship.”

EXCLUSIVE: NBA YoungBoy Busted Faking Drug Test; Tests Positive For THC

NBA YoungBoy attempted to fake a drug test to avoid violating the terms of his pretrial release.

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, NBA YoungBoy tried to pass off a clean urine sample as his own. The 22-year-old rapper ended up testing positive for THC when he provided a legitimate sample.

NBA YoungBoy allegedly made multiple excuses for why he couldn’t take a drug test requested by a probation officer in late July. He eventually reported for testing but was caught faking his urine sample on July 26.

“During the screen, the observing officer noticed a device was being used to allow the urine into the testing cup,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Louisiana said. “When questioned, the defendant pulled up his pants quickly. The defendant denied using a device and would not comply with the officer’s attempts to view the device. The defendant was informed that the test would be negated, and a second sample would be required. After the request, the defendant was allowed to get water. The defendant was instructed to remain in the lobby and not leave for any reason; however, the defendant left the office without permission prior to providing a second sample.”

NBA YoungBoy Busted Faking Drug Test; Tests Positive For THC Anyway

A day after the incident, NBA YoungBoy admitted he’d been vaping. He tested positive for THC, which was a violation of the conditions of his pretrial release.

“On July 27, 2022, the defendant reported to the probation office with his attorney,” U.S. Attorneys said. “The defendant provided a urine sample which returned positive for THC. Upon questioning from the USPO, the defendant reported he had been using a CBD vape pen for the entirety of his pretrial supervision. The defendant reported he took an at home drug screen the prior week which showed he was positive, and he panicked about doing the drug screen. The defendant denied attempting to use a device to pass the drug screen.”

The U.S. Attorney’s Office also accused NBA YoungBoy of going to a recording studio without receiving permission from a probation officer. They believe these violations should keep him on house arrest.

NBA YoungBoy’s lawyers asked for his release from house arrest after he was acquitted of felony gun possession in Los Angeles. He still has pending gun charges in his hometown of Baton Rouge.

Kanye West Needs New Lawyer In Kim Kardashian Divorce Case

Kanye West officially lost another lawyer in his ongoing divorce from Kim Kardashian.

According to TMZ, a judge granted attorney Samantha Spector’s request to withdraw from the case on Friday (August 5). She asked the judge to relieve her from her duties as Kanye West’s council in May, citing an irreconcilable relationship with her client.

Samantha Spector is one of several lawyers who’ve stopped representing Kanye amid his highly-publicized divorce. Earlier this year, ‘Ye hired her after firing attorney Chris Melcher.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s divorce remains unsettled with a potential trial looming. The judge presiding over the case reportedly called for ‘Ye to stop stalling and submit his financial declarations.

The former couple still hasn’t resolved their issues regarding custody and property. If Kanye West and Kim Kardashian cannot reach an agreement soon, the case will head to trial in December.

Kim Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021. A judge declared her legally single in March 2022.

Kanye West has been romantically linked to multiple women, including Uncut Gems actress Julia Fox, since his ex-wife left him. Kim Kardashian famously started dating comedian Pete Davidson, which led to ‘Ye frequently dissing the former Saturday Night Live cast member.

Kylie Jenner Called Out For Breaching Lab Sanitation Protocols

Kylie Jenner has responded to the accusation that she breached sanitation protocols in her Kylie Cosmetics lab.

After the make-up mogul posted a series of photos and videos promoting her Kylie Cosmetics brand on Instagram on Tuesday, cosmetics developer Kevin James Bennett took issue with the pictures.

Kylie’s promotional shots featured the 24-year-old in a facility wearing a lab coat and interacting with lab equipment and test products.

A post shared by Kevin James Bennett (@kjbennettbeauty)

Kevin reposted four of Kylie’s photos on his Instagram account and noted that Kylie is not wearing a hair net, mask, shoe covers, or disposable gloves in the snaps. He also slammed the lab for staging the photo-op.

“I need the (lab’s) name because I want to make sure my clients NEVER work with them,” Kevin wrote. “Folks, this is not the way we create cosmetics and misrepresents how our industry works. Credible manufacturers follow STRICT sanitation protocols to protect you.”

Kylie responded in the comments on Thursday, claiming the photos were not taken in a manufacturing facility but a “personal space” where she creates “fun samples.”

“I would never bypass sanitary protocols and neither would any other celeb or beauty brand owner. That’s completely unacceptable, I agree,” she continued. “No one is putting customers at risk ! Shame on you Kevin for spreading false information !!!!”

Kevin replied, “So you were standing on a platform, looking into an expensive homogenizing kettle that had processed at least 50 liters of a complexion product (the product still covering the mixing paddles)… But this is not a manufacturing facility?”

“Shame on me?” he added. “NO, shame on you or whoever takes care of your social media for trying to gaslight everyone into thinking I’m the one to blame.”

Nicole Jolie Announces New Single and ‘Vanity Fair’ Music Video

Singer-Songwriter and recording artist Nicole Jolie sat down with us to give us the low down on how she believes music has the power to alleviate pain and even put an end to hate. The hitmaker has a simple theory – music speaks. It might say different things to different people, but it speaks nonetheless. And what it says can shift the world on its axis. Melodies and lyrics can do little on their own. Have the right person put them together and what you get is a powerful weapon.

Nicole Jolie latest music makes a strong case for that. Enjoying the love of thousands of loyal fans across the world, her music has surpassed the expectations of listeners and critics alike. What makes her songs click? Who better to answer that than its maker – Nicole Jolie? Music, be it party-pop hits or soulful tunes, can hit us on a deeper level.

A study conducted by the Journal of Positive Psychology found that with the help of music, “participants successfully improved their moods in the short term and boosted their overall happiness over a two-week period.” This goes to show just how quickly music can turn your mood around. Studies have also found that even listening to sad music helps you feel happier, as ironic as that may seem.

The world of music has witnessed some of the greatest artists deliver stellar performances. The most beautiful ones have brought the world to a standstill. Over the centuries, even kings and queens have bowed to the power that music exudes. Good music has managed to, even if just for a few minutes, decrease the pain of the world and abolish hate. That, Nicole Jolie says, is reason enough to continue working hard at her art.

Insurance Company Sues Offset For “Auto-Negligence” After Woman Gets Severely Injured In Crash

An insurance company has filed a lawsuit against Offset, one of the founding members of Migos, regarding a car accident in Encino, California, that happened almost two years ago.

Mercury Insurance Company filed the claim in Los Angeles Superior Court. The company accuses the Atlanta native of auto-negligence.

The accident happened on November 11th, 2020, near the US 101 freeway.

According to Radar Online, “Clout” chart-topper was driving a 2018 Dodge Charger when he struck Silvestre Cruz Gutierrez, who was operating her 2019 Honda Civic.

Mercury Insurance Company covers her.

Driving in the car with Gutierrez was a woman named Maria Salina Lopez. The insurance company alleges that Offset and/or the person driving negligently caused the crash.

The insurance company further stated that the vehicle and the celebrity rapper were uninsured.

“The insurance policy described above-included collision coverage, insuring the Honda for damages sustained,” Mercury Insurance said in the lawsuit before noting Gutierrez’s car was “damaged, destroyed, depreciated, diminished in value, and necessitated repairs and towing charges in the sum of $10,605.73.”

It continued, “the owners of the Honda were deprived of the use of their said vehicle to their damage in the sum of $1,090.27.”

According to Mercury Insurance Company, Lopez suffered severe bodily injuries and emotional distress, “all of which caused and will continue to cause great physical and mental pain and suffering, resulting in temporary and permanent disability, and a loss of earning capacity, causing a loss earnings, and requiring her to incur obligations for medical expenses and other special damages.”

As a result, Mercury Insurance said it paid $15K to Lopez on the policy and added with the person who is the policyholder, they paid $26,696 — and want the rapper to pay it back.

They want to be fully reimbursed and are also suing for interest.

Cardi B Mourns Her Friend Who Died In Tragic Accident

Rapper Cardi B is mourning the loss of her friend and hairdresser, who died with his friend, a beloved salsa dancer.

The two, Joel Adames, 31, and David Fernandez, 40, were killed during an SUV crash when the vehicle ran up on a Manhattan sidewalk on Wednesday, August 3rd.

The men were both from the Inwood section of Manhattan.

The Grammy Award-winning artist posted a tribute to Adames on social media hours after the deadly Wednesday morning crash.

“Stupidness, negligence, I hope the worst to who committed this!” the superstar wrote. “Took someone sooo loved, full of life and just all around amazing leaving people destroy… RIP JOEL,” she wrote.

According to PIX11 News, Fernandez cut Adames’ hair earlier that evening. Afterward, the pair went out to get drinks. They then went to walk home around 4 a.m., when the freak accident happened.

A surveillance camera captured the footage and showed that the accident damaged five cars in total. The impact from the hit pushed the SUV onto the sidewalk, which is how the two men were killed.

Others were also injured during the crash. Five people were hurt, with three people suffering severe injuries.

Police are investigating the accident.

John Legend Says Kanye West’s Support For Trump Fractured Their Friendship

Kanye “Ye” West was one of the most high-profile celebrities to back Donald Trump’s bid for the presidency. West’s defense of the MAGA leader apparently created tension with longtime collaborator John Legend.

In 2016, John Legend called Ye’s meeting with then-President-Elect Donald Trump a “publicity stunt.” Two years later, Legend commented on the West/Trump alliance again, blasting the Republican politician for embracing white supremacy.

John Legend now admits Kanye West’s years-long support for Donald Trump hurt their relationship. Ye’s failed 2020 run for President of the United States caused a serious rift as well.

The EGOT Winner Addresses His Fallout With Former Friend

CNN’s David Axelrod recently spoke to John Legend for The Axe Files podcast. Legend explained to the former chief strategist for Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns how political differences led to his falling out with Ye.

“Well, you know, we aren’t friends as much as we used to be, because I honestly think because we publicly disagreed on his running for office, his supporting Trump, I think it became too much for us to sustain our friendship, honestly,” said Legend.

The Emmy/Grammy/Oscar/Tony winner went on to add, “[Kanye West] was upset that I didn’t support his run for the presidency of the United States of America for understandable reasons.” Some observers believed Republican operatives assisted West’s campaign in order to damage Democratic candidate Joe Biden.

John Legend Previously Said He Did Not Want To Disown Ye

In 2019, Legend told Vanity Fair he did not want to “disown” Kanye West despite their split as friends. The University of Pennsylvania graduate said at the time, “I still love him and love everything we’ve done together creatively.”

John Legend released several studio LPs via Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label. His classic debut album, Get Lifted, dropped in 2004. The two musicians collaborated on songs like “Number One” in 2004, “It’s Over” in 2008, and “Blame Game” in 2010.

Suspect In Rollie Bands’ Murder Taken Into Custody

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, a man suspected of murdering Tampa rapper Rollie Bands on Friday, July 22nd, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service on Tuesday, August 2nd.

WFLA reports social media posts helped capture Darren Day, the man charged with shooting the artist, whose real name is Ari Williams.

Rollie Bands allegedly taunted his rivals on social media, posting, “A lot of these n***as [know] where I live at fr. I sleep in peace. If a n***a want smoke I’m at my crib in 5 mins.”

Rollie Bands taunted his enemies and invited them to come to his residence. Darren Day took him up on his offer and killed him outside the IQ Apartment complex.

Investigators developed Day as the primary suspect. The U.S. Marshals found him hiding in Lee County before being taken into custody.

Law enforcement said they are in the early stages of the investigation. Deputies explained that the shooting probably wasn’t random. They also believe both Day and Rollie Bands knew each other.

The deceased rapper’s aunt said, “It doesn’t matter what kind of statement; he didn’t deserve for his life to be taken.”

Day was charged with a count of first-degree murder. Rollie Bands released a song called “Reminiscin'” in April 2022.

“Flashy Preacher” Bishop Lamor Whitehead Discusses Aftermath Gunmen That Robbed Him In Church

Bishop Lamor Whitehead is the name on everybody’s tongue, like the Word on a Sunday morning. The controversial religious leader, often called “the flashy preacher” by mainstream press, has garnered nationwide attention after three gunmen stormed his church during a daytime service over a week ago.

According to first-hand accounts, those masked assailants put guns to Bishop Whitehead, wife and daughter and threatened all the parishioners of the church. When they left in a white BMW, they departed with almost all of the Bishop’s jewels. The value of said jewels has been a topic of debate, but reports have stated they are worth between $400,000 and $1 million. See, Whitehead is no ordinary bishop. He has been called the “Bling Bling Bishop” and is known for a distinct love of luxury. He stays draped in Fendi, Louie and Gucci and rolls around the streets in an extravagant Rolls Royce.

It was clear there would be no robbery when he walked into WonWorld studios for his exclusive interview with AllHipHop’s Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur. The bishop’s brother was in tow, clad in blue to the shoes, with an air about him that only a fool would enter. And Bishop Whitehead was ready to talk, a mere eight days after feeling he could have easily been murdered in a sacred sanctuary. He believes that his critics have it all wrong.

In this exclusive interview, he addresses the hate he’s felt from the press and public, as well as the notion that he set up the brazen robbery himself. He vigorously defends his affinity for the finer things in life and states that he does not steal from his church or its members. Moreover, he talks about the aftermath, where he cursed out two other religious leaders live online as well as his purported criminal past. Bishop Whitehead has a lengthy history as figure in the community, as he has run for public office, presided over homegoing services for Biz Markie and Black Rob, and he’s related to rap goddess Foxy Brown. Mayor Eric Adams, the self-proclaimed Hip-Hop mayor of New York City, is a mentor.

This is a deep dive in still waters.

Ne-Yo Had Baby With A Side Piece, Wife Files For Divorce

Ne-Yo’s wife Crystal Renay filed for divorce after accusing the singer of cheating.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Renay filed for divorce from the Closer singer on August.1st.

In the filing, Renay wrote that the duo separated on July 22nd this year and “since that date have continuously lived in a bona fide state of separation.”

She argued that she is “entitled to a divorce from (Ne-Yo) upon the ground that the marriage is irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation.”

Renay further alleged in the documents that Ne-Yo “committed the act of adultery,” having “recently fathered a minor child with his paramour.”

Two days prior, Renay publicly claimed that Ne-Yo had been unfaithful during their marriage.

She wrote in an Instagram post that she had “unknowingly” endured eight years of sharing the musician with “numerous women,” adding, “To say I’m heartbroken and disgusted is (an) understatement. To ask me to stay and accept it is absolutely insane. The mentality of a narcissist.”

Renay has requested primary physical custody and joint legal custody of their children – Shaffer, six, Roman, four, and Isabella, 13 months.

She is also seeking temporary and permanent alimony, as well as a “sufficient amount of child support.”

Renay and Ne-Yo wed in 2016 after two years of dating. They initially separated in February 2020 but reconciled during the pandemic and renewed their wedding vows this April.

Eric Adams Declares Himself NYC’s “First Hip Hop Mayor”

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has had a love-hate relationship with Hip Hop since stepping into the position.

At one point, Eric Adams called for social media platforms to ban Drill Music videos. The former law enforcement officer tried to connect the rising underground genre to the street violence in his city.

“We pulled [former President Donald Trump] off Twitter because of what he was spewing, yet we are allowing music, displaying of guns, violence, we are allowing it to stay on the site because look at the victims,” stated Eric Adams in February.

Mayor Adams is now claiming to take up the mantle for Hip Hop in the culture’s Mecca. While announcing a $5.5 million investment for South Bronx’s Universal Hip Hop Museum, the 61-year-old politician made a bold declaration.

“First time in New York City history, we have a Hip Hop mayor,” said Eric Adams at a press conference. Def Jam Recordings co-founder Russell Simmons stood beside Adams for his speech. NYC Department of Cultural Affairs Commissioner Laurie Cumbo was on hand as well.

NYC Rappers Like French Montana Embrace Eric Adams

Throughout the year, Eric Adams made inroads with some members of the Hip Hop community in New York. For example, Bronx-bred rap star French Montana praised the Democratic political leader this summer.

“In order for us to make a change, we have to embrace people like [Eric Adams] and people in the higher positions that can help see the vision and help these kids because we don’t have no help out here,” said French Montana.

Eric Adams reportedly contributed $2 million in new capital funding for the Universal Hip Hop Museum. The facility – located at the Bronx Point development at Mill Pond Park – will feature gallery spaces, a black box theater, interactive exhibits, and administrative offices.

“The Universal Hip Hop Museum is the official museum of Hip Hop culture,” stated UHHM Executive Director Rocky Bucano. “Founded by Hip Hop pioneers, we’re proud to be the recipients of the continuous financial support of Commissioner Laurie Cumbo, the City Council, New York state, and others to showcase, preserve, present, and protect Hip Hop Culture for generations to come.”

Blueface Faces Lawsuit Over Hookah Lounge Assault

Blueface has been social media fodder for several days. News outlets from around the world covered the West Coast rapper’s troubling relationship with Chrisean Rock.

It appears Blueface has more troubles ahead. According to Radar Online, an alleged assault victim filed a lawsuit against the rapper born Johnathan Jamall Porter.

According to the gossip website, Ray Anthony Gonzalez sued the Find the Beat album creator for assault, battery, gender violence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The pending legal case stems from a 2019 incident at the Blue Moon Hooka Lounge in Los Angeles. Gonzalez accuses Blueface of calling him a “f*ggot” and then swinging at him with a closed fist.

The suit also claimed Blueface is responsible for Gonzalez’s female cousin being assaulted that day. Both alleged victims filed reports with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Last September, Blueface made headlines for a violent encounter at another California establishment. Local law enforcement investigated the incident involving a bouncer at the Skinny’s Lounge in San Fernando Valley allegedly being attacked by the “Thotiana” rapper and his crew.

Cops Launch Criminal Investigation Into DJ Tim Westwood Amid Further Sexual Assault Allegations

The case against DJ Tim Westwood has taken another turn as the Metropolitan Police launched a criminal investigation into the sexual assault allegations made against him.

According to a report from the Guardian, one of the allegations dates back 40 years. The outlet reports the Met’s central specialist crime unit is investigating four reports of historical offenses allegedly committed in London. The incidents allegedly occurred in 1982, 1985, 2010, and 2016.

The Met statement did not name Tim Westwood but reported on Thursday (Aug. 4): “Detectives from the Met’s Central Specialist Crime continue to investigate four reports relating to allegations of non-recent sexual offences allegedly committed by a man. The offenses are alleged to have occurred in London in 1982, 1985, 2010 and 2016. There have been no arrests, inquiries continue.”

The allegations against Tim Westwood came to light recently following a joint investigation by the Guardian and BBC News. The DJ stepped down from his show on Capital Xtra after several Black women made allegations of sexual misconduct and predatory behavior against him.

While Tim Westwood denied all of the claims against him, another ten Black women accused him of sexual abuse, sexual misconduct, and inappropriate behavior in July. One of these women claimed she was just 14 years old when the DJ first had sex with her. The incident is alleged to have occurred in the early 1990s when Tim Westwood was in his thirties.

The BBC Launch Internal Review Into Tim Westwood

Meanwhile, a BBC internal review found that the corporation ‘may have missed chances to explore concerns’ about Tim Westwood’s conduct. The DJ worked at BBC Radio 1 from 1994 to 2013.

Though the BBC director general, Tim Davie, initially said there was “no evidence of complaints” against the DJ, the review found otherwise. According to the Guardian, the BBC received several reports against him in 20212. These include two allegations of inappropriate behavior and sexual misconduct. An accusation was also made that Tim Westwood “created a toxic atmosphere amongst those he worked with at the BBC.”

The song arrives accompanied by slick two visuals, a standard version clocking in at just under three minutes and a nearly eight-minute long extended version. Drake and Lil Baby take on the role of surgeons while DJ Khaled runs the department.

The hitmaker producer shared a series of photos from the shoot before the single’s release. As DJ Khaled explains in a note, the video is set in a facility called the “Khaled Khaled Hospital.”

“We represent the future of medicine,” reads the hospital’s “mission statement.” “Our surgical residents are at the top of their class, our highly decorated doctors are at the top of their fields, and our equipment is simply put—state of the art. We are here to ensure that you are always #StayingAlive. We’re here to do GOD’s work.”

DJ Khaled previously hailed “Staying Alive” as the “song of the year” with the “hook of the century.”

“I’ve been blessed to get so many great calls every day from all my peers, ‘Yo Khaled, I love your rollout,’ this and that. I told ’em, ‘Listen, I haven’t even started my rollout,’” he declared Thursday on Instagram. “But today we start. Tonight we start. Right now we start. DJ Khaled dropping a single featuring Drake and Lil Baby.”
