Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg & More To Appear On Terrace Martin’s ‘Drones’ Album

California-raised musician Terrace Martin will release his new album, Drones, on November 5 via Sounds of Crenshaw/BMG. Numerous high-profile guests features will be on the project.

Terrace Martin created Drones collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Leon Bridges, Cordae, Ty Dolla $ign, Robert Glasper, YG, James Fauntleroy, D Smoke, Smino, Kim Burrell, Hit-Boy, and more.

“There are touches of R&B, touches of jazz, touches of hip-hop, touches of classical, Cuban music, West African music, house music,” says Terrace Martin.

The multi-instrumentalist continues, “You’re going to hear all elements of Black music within this record. It’s not one element I can leave out if I call myself a true Black artist.”

Listeners will get to hear Kendrick Lamar, Ty Dolla $ign, James Fauntleroy, and Snoop Dogg all on the same song. Those four established stars contributed to the Drones title track.

According to Terrace Martin, a philosophical conversation with Kendrick Lamar inspired the “Drones” song. Around a week after the release of Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly album in 2015, producer Martin spoke to K. Dot about growing desensitization and lack of compassion in modern society.

Terrace Martin played a pivotal role in the creation of the classic To Pimp a Butterfly. The 3-time Grammy nominee produced several tracks on the studio LP, including “King Kunta” and “Complexion (A Zulu Love)” featuring Rapsody.

In addition, Terrace Martin’s production discography includes work with Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli, Murs, Kurupt, DJ Quik, Jay Rock, Robert Glasper Experiment, YG, and other Hip Hop acts.

Martin also released full-length solo studio LPs such as 2012’s The 4 Luv Suite, 2013’s 3ChordFold, 2014’s Times, 2016’s Velvet Portraits. His catalog also contains several EPs, mixtapes, remix albums, and collaborative projects.

LGBTQIA Organization’s CEO Blasts TMZ Over Report They Co-Signed DaBaby Performing Again

An LGBTQIA+ organization is calling out media outlet TMZ for “grossly misquoting” the CEO for clicks.

Relationship Unleashed wants a full retraction and apology. The organization took to social media to blast the news outlet for being sensational.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CVyaO_eFc1t/

“Our organization stands on strong principles of being defenders of the LGBTQIA Community and nothing has changed. We will never normalize “trash TV or trash news stories!” Today we were ingulfed (sic) by the news outlet in a fire 🔥 we did not start! Our comments to a brief question was grossly misquoted and intentionally framed in a click baiting headline to drive traffic to TMZ. We have written and repeatedly spoke with the News Edit to retract, correct, or delete this erroneous story. As of this time some modifications have been made but not enough to our satisfaction. We vehemently deny this assertion and the reporting does not align with our values or mission. #RapperDababy #TMZerronousNews @gwenclemons @davinclemons

Gwendolyn D. Clemons, CEO of Relationship Unleashed, says that while traveling overseas, she received an email from TMZ a news producer asking her for remarks about DaBaby’s performance during his Rolling Loud NY over the weekend.

This would have been a scoop for them since last summer at another concert produced by the same promoters, DaBaby ran into trouble for spewing homophobic statements.

Clemons said she responded, but her statements were taken out of context to fit a narrative that she did not support.

TMZ first reported that her organization was [OK with DaBaby’s performance at Rolling Loud last week.}(https://allhiphop.com/news/lgbtq-organization-forgives-dababy-backs-the-rappers-nyc-performance/)

She says in an article on the organization’s media outlet, The Unleased Voice, that “90% of the information posted on TMZ website” regarding her emailed response was “completely false and that this article has the potential to cause irreputable harm to the organization.”

She further stated that when she called the producer to have it corrected/ retracted.

TMZ did post an update, expressing that Clemons believes that she was misquoted and posted a screenshot of her email to them.

The two seem to be splitting hairs.

One, the media outlet, is saying that she said: “she and her cohorts at the nonprofit approve of DB’s appearance at Rolling Loud NY last week — and any future concerts — as they feel he has learned a lot over the past few months.”

She said in her email something a little different.

Clemons wrote, “We believe that his lack of comprehensive understanding about these types of social issues was rooted in a place of miseducation and sheer ignorance. However, given the opportunity to go forward and do better we believe our objectives were highly effective and yes, he deserves to perform at Rolling Loud in NY.”

There is a difference, and she was misquoted.

She did not approve of his appearance but said that he deserved to perform at that one concert. Their addition of any future concerts was editorialized.

His deserving and their “approval” are not the same.

This story is developing.

The Rock Pledges Not To Use Real Guns For His Movies & TV Shows

Following the tragic killing of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust, there continues to be a conversation about safety on film sets. Hutchins was accidentally shot with a prop gun by Rust star Alec Baldwin.

The current undisputed champion of big-budget action movies, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, was asked about using firearms while filming. Variety spoke to the former WWE superstar during a promotional interview for his upcoming movie Red Notice.

“First of all, I was heartbroken when I read that,” stated The Rock about Hutchins’s death. “We lost a life. My heart goes out to her family and everybody on set. I’ve known Alec, too as well, for a very long time.”

He added, “I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can tell you, without an absence of clarity here, that any movie that we have moving forward with Seven Bucks Productions — any movie, any television show, or anything we do or produce — we won’t use real guns at all.”

Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions company will begin using rubber guns that can be edited in post-production. The 49-year-old actor said, “We’re not going to worry about the dollars, we won’t worry about what it costs.”

Red Notice will stream on Netflix beginning November 12 and hit select theaters on November 5. The Rawson Marshall Thurber-directed motion picture also stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman).

This is the third time Rawson Marshall Thurber and The Rock worked together on a feature film. They previously teamed up for Central Intelligence in 2016 and Skyscraper in 2018. Thurber’s filmography also includes 2004’s DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story and 2013’s We’re the Millers.

Jay-Z Deletes His Instagram Page One Day After Setting It Up

Jay-Z shocked many social media users when he finally opened an official Instagram account, but he is already gone from the platform. The 23-time Grammy winner only shared one post during his short stint on IG.

Earlier this week, the verified @JayZ Instagram page uploaded a poster for Netflix’s The Harder They Fall movie. Jay-Z is credited as a producer for the film and an executive producer for its soundtrack.

Jay-Z is not known for being very active on social media. The 51-year-old Brooklynite’s @SC Twitter account only has 269 active tweets since he signed up for the service in November 2008.

On October 31, Jay-Z tweeted a thank you message to his supporters and specifically his former mentor Jaz-O following his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. The Roc Nation boss also sent out similar tweets when he became the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2017.

The Harder They Fall debuted on November 3. The Jeymes Samuel-directed Western stars Jonathan Majors, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo, LaKeith Stanfield, Danielle Deadwyler, Edi Gathegi, RJ Cyler, Damon Wayans Jr., Deon Cole, Regina King, and Idris Elba.

“The actors brought the experience of what we are living in now — it’s a different side of the same coin. We are paying tribute to the lost voices of the time. The story is a fantasy but the humanity each actor brought to the characters is extraordinary,” said Jay-Z about the motion picture.

The Harder They Fall soundtrack includes contributions by Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Ms. Lauryn Hill, CeeLo Green, Seal, Koffee, Barrington Levy, and other acts. Jay and Cudi’s “Guns Go Bang” could be in consideration for an Academy Award nomination.

He wasn’t quite finished yet, “Yo that’s all I’ve got for you tonight,” he said. He then wished the audience, “Peace, love and may you have three balls in the morning. I appreciate y’all.”

Other entertainment on the night came from the tournament. The “Lils” was the team made up of Lil Jon and Lil Tecca.

These. People. Existed

The Bullitts recently gave an interview to “Esquire” where he revealed he and friend Idris Elba first discussed making the film 15 years ago. Jay-Z was on board early and agreed to executive produce the film before the script even existed.

He felt it important to have the reminder at the beginning of the film, “While the events in this story are fictional. These. People. Existed.” The characters are based on real figures from the Old West who were whitewashed from the record books. “I came across all these characters like Stagecoach Mary, Deadwood Dick, Bass Reeves, who was the inspiration for the real Lone Ranger, and I thought, ‘How come I’ve never learnt about these people?’ We’ve been given a remix of the Old West.”

He also spoke to Ebro about how important it was that the soundtrack correlates with the movie.

DaBaby Announces “Live Show Killa” Tour Amid Renewed Controversy

DaBaby announced a tour in partnership with Rolling Loud yesterday, (Nov 3.) after a summer of being “canceled.” The “Rockstar” rapper faced heavy backlash after making homophobic comments during his set at Rolling Loud Miami in the summer.

DaBaby took to social media to announce the “Live Show Killa” tour with the provocative caption “THE SHOW YOU THOUGHT YOU’D NEVER SEE AGAIN.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CVyD6hQp4Np/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

The tour will see DaBaby touch down in 22 cities across the country over the next four months.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CV1DKUVrHWa/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

According to TMZ, a Rolling Loud representative revealed, “RL supports second chances and believes DaBaby has grown and learned from his experience, and everyone will be welcome at the shows.”

However, the controversy surrounding DaBaby isn’t over. He first returned to the Rolling Loud stage in New York last month as a guest of 50 Cent.

Social media users questioned the controversial artists’ return to the festival despite any apologies he issued. Gwendolyn D. Clemons, the CEO of Relationship Unleashed, an advocacy group centered around the experiences of the Black LQBTQ community spoke to TMZ about DaBaby’s appearance, sparking its own debate.

TMZ initially reported Clemons “and her cohorts at the nonprofit approve of DB’s appearance at Rolling Loud NY last week — and any future concerts — as they feel he’s learned a lot over the past few months.” They went on to say Clemons believes Relationship Unleashed and 100+ other advocacy groups educated DaBaby in their conversations with him and he now sees why he was wrong.

Clemons Accused TMZ Of Misrepresenting Her Comments About DaBaby

However, according to Clemons, TMZ misrepresented her emailed remarks leading to Relationship Unleashed issuing a statement clarifying her remarks:

“Our organization stands on strong principles of being defenders of the LGBTQIA Community and nothing has changed,” Relationship Unleashed wrote in the Instagram post. “Our comments to a brief question was grossly misquoted and intentionally framed in a click baiting headline to drive traffic to TMZ. … We vehemently deny this assertion and the reporting does not align with our values or mission.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CVyaO_eFc1t/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

They go on to say they have contacted TMZ numerous times to attempt to get them to “retract, correct, or delete this erroneous story.”

TMZ has since published what they claim is Clemons’ entire unedited email

Big Boi Reveals How He & Andre 3000 Started Outkast & Their Reaction To Getting Booed

OutKast is one of the most legendary groups in Hip-Hop history. The unique style and innovative lyrical ability of Big Boi and Andre 3000 helped put ATL rap on the map.

During an interview on “10 Questions with Kyle Brandt,” Big Boi revealed how the duo first met, and fittingly, it was all about style and music.

“We just started hanging out. It was a group of maybe five of us, we were all new to the school (Tri-Cities Performing Arts High School) and we would hang out at lunchtime,” said Big Boi about the early days of his friendship with André 3000. “We’d go back to Dre’s house because he used to do airbrushing on clothes, so he would airbrush our jean jackets.”

Three stacks was the barber of the group. “Me and my brother used to go over there for Dre to cut our hair. He was a great artist, so we just hung out. Then, we had the same taste in music and style and one day we were just like, ‘let’s do it.’”

Big Boi also opened up about OutKast’s reaction to getting booed at the 1995 Source Awards after picking up the award for the best new artist. According to Big Boi, it was the best thing that could have happened to them.

“It was motivation, man,” said Big Boi. “It’s a good thing they did that because all it did was put a battery in our back. Look who won that year – Snoop, Biggie, OutKast. Powerhouses. That motivated us to go make ATLiens and really come back and f### s### up. So, we appreciate it. Also, it (helped us) kick down the door for southern lyricists and let it be known that we’re spitters down here, too.”

HBO has announced the release dates for the rest of Bill Simmons’ Music Box series, which explores significant moments and artists in the music world. Five documentaries, including films covering DMX and Juice WRLD, will debut on a weekly basis in November and December.

The string of weekly releases begins with Jagged, a documentary about singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette, on November 18. DMX: Don’t Try To Understand is scheduled to air the following week on November 25.

DMX: Don’t Try To Understand is directed by Christopher Frierson and focuses on a year in the life of the late rapper, who passed away in April. The documentary follows his efforts to rebuild his career and reconnect with his family and fans after getting out of prison in 2019.

Venus And Serena Say Biopic Will Be A Hit Thanks To Will Smith

Tennis superstars Serena and Venus Williams were thrilled to learn Will Smith had signed on to play their dad in new movie “King Richard.”

Opening later this month (Nov21), the film chronicles Richard Williams’ efforts to support his daughters to sports glory against all the odds, and early reviews suggest Smith is set for another Oscar nod for his portrayal of the determined dad.

And the Williams sisters reveal they knew the movie would be a big hit as soon as they heard Smith had been cast.

“When we heard that Will wanted to do it, it was like, ‘Oh my God, this movie is going to be the real deal’,” Venus tells EW.com. “Whatever film he’s in, it’s the real deal. We got the sense this is gonna be big, this is gonna be a serious film.

“I love that it captured the innocence – the innocence we still hang on to, actually. It’s kind of difficult for me to say, ‘Oh, this film shows me’, because me is Serena… and there’s no me without her, and I could have never done what I’ve been able to achieve on the court without her, because I was also watching her and learning.”

Serena adds, “Actually, I feel like the film actually tells her (Venus’) story, in a way that no one can ever really tell what she went through in being the first black player to really step out there. You see the impact that it has had and all the people that are coming up after myself and Venus. There would be no Serena if there wasn’t a Venus.”

Meanwhile, Serena can’t wait for her four-year-old daughter, Alexis, to watch King Richard.

“She gets to see what mommy was like,” the tennis ace adds. “I always wondered how I would explain my life. Like, how will I even start that conversation? This is the perfect way.”

“King Richard” will hit theaters and streaming platform HBO Max on November 19th.

Tory Lanez Unable To Reach Plea Deal In Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Case

Tory Lanez is getting closer to going on trial for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

According to Rolling Stone, the embattled rapper couldn’t secure a plea deal with prosecutors in the case. He is now set to face live testimony in December.

Tory Lanez’s lawyer Shawn Holley appeared in court on Wednesday and will return with him for a preliminary hearing on December 14. She confirmed discussions about a plea deal but maintained her client’s innocence in a statement to Rolling Stone.

“As in every case, the lawyers for the parties discuss the possibility of resolving the case,” Holley said. “This case is no different. That said, our position as to what did and did not happen in this matter remains unchanged.”

Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020. He allegedly fired shots at her feet after getting into an argument with her in the Hollywood Hills.

The controversial artist has been charged with two felonies: assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He’s also facing another allegation that he “personally inflicted great bodily injury.”

Tory Lanez pleaded not guilty to the charges in November 2020. Prosecutors say he could be sentenced to 22 years and eight months in prison if convicted.

Fake Drake Getting Real Love From The Rapper’s Fans

A Drake impersonator showed up at clubs in Los Angeles over the weekend, and even performed the superstar’s song “Way 2 Sexy.”

The “Fake Drake” was first called out by Canadian rapper Tory Lanez last month (Oct21), after he was spotted at Miami, Florida clubs LIV and Story.

Over the Halloween holiday, the Certified Lover Boy wannabe – who even has a heart-shaped cut in his hairline, just like the real artist, took the stage at nightspots in L.A. to rap along to the track from Drake’s latest album.

On October 24th, the real Drake’s birthday, the imposter was filmed on the mic, but he made it clear he’s not the real “Drizzy.”

“Is it really Drizzy? Nah, you dizzy,” the man said. “I’m from Toronto. I came here six days ago and I blew up. Tory Lanez posted me in his

(Instagram) story. So we just riding this s**t, it’s all part of God’s plan,'” he added, referencing the real star’s 2018 hit.

Eagle-eyed security guards are reportedly not allowing the fake alter ego into certain clubs, but fans seem to be enjoying – or buying into – the ruse and are trying to take photos with the Fake Drake.

The Grammy winner has not yet publicly acknowledged the impersonator.

TDE Announces New Rap Collective ARFOM

If you thought that Kendrick Lamar’s departure from Top Dawg Entertainment was going to stop their grind, you had something twisted. The West Coast label has recently dropped a new roster of rap champions and is hoping that the new crew will have the same impact as the inaugural crop.

Terrence “Punch” Henderson has released a trailer for the ARFOM collective, an acronym for A Room Full of Mirrors. The nine-person posse will release an upcoming visual EP called Money Bags.

The mini-movie, which is musical like “Purple Rain” meets and complicatedly gangsta like “Reservoir Dogs,” was written and directed by one of the members Lyric Michelle.

Who all are in ARFOM?

The label executive Punch and the following artists: Nick Grant, DayLyt, Earlee Riser, Billymarie, Lyric Michelle, Ichiban Don, Hari and Jrias Law.

Many might know Nick Grant from his previous offerings to the Hip-Hop universe. His 2017 NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert has been critically acclaimed and underrated.

DayLyt brings his cache from the battle rap world. There he is considered one of the best to ever to put pen to pad. Unfortunately, his trolling antics make people unsure about trusting whether or not he would show up in full performance form during a battle. Luckily, when it comes to this music thing, everyone is clear that he is gifted and committed.

Now everything makes sense. Over the weekend, Daylyt posted his farewell to the battle rap world. Guess, we see why!

“Bow out gracefully! Thank u all for the ride”

https://twitter.com/daylyt30/status/1454832524790677519?s=20

There will be a special screening of the visual EP on November 17th during a private event in Compton, CA.

Fresh Da Zoe Comes With Heat and Visuals for His New Single “No Sleep”

Haitian artist, Widson Pierre out of the capital, Port-Au-Prince has overcome the adversity of his dangerous environment to become the hip hop artist known to fans as Fresh Da Zoe. Moving to the US and establishing a solid fanbase and presence in the industry with bangers like “No Sleep,” “What We Doing,” “Shake It,” “Voodoo Flow,” and “No Time,” the Haitian songwriter and artist are back with another one.

This time, it comes with the release of his new single “No Sleep,” and Fresh Da Zoe has stepped his game up another notch to achieve a new level of lyrical flow and rhyme scheme combination. From the moment the visuals began with Fresh Da Zoe gripping the strap, the track was most certainly about to be put in a body bag. The beat drops and Fresh Da Zoe begins applying straight pressure off the rip.

“I just work hard, never slipped up, day and night ‘till it paid off.” Those words embody everything about Fresh Da Zoe. “No Sleep” is inspired by that hustle mentality and consistent grind that brought him mainstream success in the industry. All confidence, no cowardice, he lets his success be known to everyone that doubted him and wants to see his fall from grace. Listening deeper into the track, the intricate flows and rhythm over the trap-infused beat is evidence of Fresh Da Zoe’s craftsmanship as an artist. He is meticulous with his bars and is somehow able to hop on a track with precision timing to find the perfect melody that rides the instrumental to completion.

“No Sleep” sounds like a proclamation of greatness to come and an ode to already rising success. The new single is nothing but gas. Check out “No Sleep” and the luxury visuals of cars, women, and bossed-up lifestyle in the accompanying music video.

KNOW YA HIP HOP: OutKast And Kool DJ AJ At The Audubon Ballroom

Since 1992, the rap duo Outkast has captivated fans with its eclectic styles and innovative lyrical ability. Composed of André 3000 and Big Boi, this group fused funk, raw Hip-Hop, and their ATLien lifestyles to create some of the most memorable songs of the culture.

The multi-GRAMMY winners’ project Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (2003) is the highest-selling rap album in the history of recorded music. The two have lived up to their goal to ‘The South on the map.’

On November 3, 1979, some of Hip-Hop’s earliest pioneers gathered at the A. L. Smith Centre in New York for three hours of unbridled rap fun. Kool DJ AJ was one of the DJs on the wheels of steel. A cool bit of history is that just one month later, he would help break Kurtis Blow’s monumental “Christmas Rappin’” during his DJ set at the famed Audubon Ballroom. Back then, Hip-Hop was non-existent on commercial airwaves but after DJ AJ performed turntable wizardry with the track, it was playing on the radio the next day.

The Game Joins Forces With The Verzuz Champs, Big Daddy Kane, And KRS-One – KINDA!

The game ft drake GIFs - Get the best gif on GIFER

UPDATE: This song isn’t new, its just new to us. This song was actually recorded about 10 years ago, according to sources.

The Verzuz Effect continues to be real af! We saw what it has done for the careers of The Lox, Fat Joe and Ja Rule, but now it appears to be helping some of the pillars of the culture too. Big Daddy Kane and KRS-One have a new song with The Game, the Compton bar spitter. The song has not been released and we don’t know when it hits yet, but he gave AHH’s own Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur a sneak preview last night on IG Live. They had a full conversation, but it started off with this grand revelation. What is crazy is they all constructed this song right after the Verzuz, which was about two weeks ago in Brooklyn’s Barclay Center. Anyway, check out the song real fast…

Fa real doe, we need The Game to drop another whole album so I hope this song is on the new project. If not, I’ll settle on a song. If you listen to the entire conversation, a lot about Verzuz is revealed. Kane dispels some of the rumors. One was that there was a real strict structure to their battle. Remember we had said (based on previous talks with KRS and Kane) that they were gonna do 15 song for song rounds and five rounds bar for bar. Then DJ Scratch semi-confirmed this with a twist, that 2 of those were to be a DJ battle and a b-boy battle. Kane basically said that was the “idea” but they were not contractually bound so they were battling also to control the “narrative” of the night.

He also talks about why Mister Cee didn’t DJ for him, why his long term dancer Scoob wasn’t there and more.

Another thing you bucks may not pick up on: BDK addresses Rakim numerous times without mentioning his name. He never once said his name, which was interesting. Jigsaw didn’t push the issue…he seemed to respect the fact that Kane wasn’t saying it. Anyway, you gotta see this, but he basically says that Rakim is best suited for Verzuz ON THE PHONE, not the live performance.

Overall, the positive convo was positive and Kane made that super clear!

Westside Gunn Pays Off Wrestler’s Debt

Many know that Westside Gunn is a huge wrestling fan— but do they know how deep his love goes for the sport?

Probably not.

But the news of him helping out an independent female wrestler pay off her debt at her wrestling college.

Alexis Littlefoot took to social media to send up a pseudo bat call.

“Only $500 left to pay off Wrestling school. And only 8 mystery tees and 17 sable tees left on the shop.”

She was selling things to pay her tuition to her wrestling training school and like Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, one of her favorite rappers dropped in on the 11th hour from the 4th rope with a win.

The Griselda member took to Twitter to share his financial support of Littlefoot and said, “Pay that school off right now, we got work to do (prayer hands) #4thRope).” While he gave only $500, it meant the world to her.

The African-American Kentucky slammer tweeted, “My OG, my big homie. it’s f###### Griselda. Thank you so much. #4thRope LETS GET THIS WORK IN!”

Alexis, aka Big Flexxer, is an influencer outside of the wrestling world and makes her money as a blogger and model.

She later tweeted, “Y’all I’m gonna go cry Gunn just paid my wrestling school balance. Never asked big homie for nothing. That’s true love and support right there. Omg.”

Hip-Hop to the rescue! Got to love it.
