Premiere: Durgaveli – “Back Outside” (Produced by City the King)

Queen’s femcee Durgaveli, by way of Bushwick Brooklyn, is a wordsmith whose wordplay and bar structure is nearly unmatched. This time she teams up, once again, with Brooklyn producer, City; a young prodigy whose discography speaks for itself. Together, they bring a refreshing sound that’s an ode to the city that raised them and also a representation of the melting pot that is New York City.

The bounce heavy production is met with Durgaveli’s aggressive delivery and City’s smooth flow on the beats. The video is a reminder of what pre-COVID life was, and what it could soon be once again.

While it’s hard to fathom that it’s been over a year since New York City has been impacted by this pandemic, and even as vaccines rollout, restrictions are being lifted, and the weather gets warmer, the boroughs will undoubtedly be “Back Outside.”

Offset Once Again Teases Migos’ ‘Culture III’ Album Is On The Way

“Offset & Quavo Hint That Migos’ ‘Culture III’ Album Is On The Way” read an AllHipHop.com headline from January 2020. Another AHH article from January 2021 was titled “Migos Release ‘The Process Of 3’ Teaser Video For ‘Culture III’ Album.”

Is the Atlanta-bred Hip Hop trio finally ready to drop their long-awaited fourth studio LP? Offset, one-third of the Quality Control Music-backed group, is hinting to his 18.4 million Instagram followers that is the case.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CMpdL7lJgFi/

Over the weekend, Offset posted a clip from what appeared to be a music video to his Instagram page. The Father of 4 album creator simply captioned the snippet, “Culture 3.” The post currently has over 2 million views and over 13,000 comments.

Offset also uploaded a photo of himself standing in front of a green Rolls Royce with a caption that read, “Time for the BIG 3.” The rapper’s Culture III teasers arrived during the same time period when there was a lot of conversation on social media about Quavo and Saweetie’s breakup.

Migos’ original Culture was released in 2017 and went on to be nominated for Best Rap Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. The sequel hit DSPs in 2018. Both LPs debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Culture is certified Platinum by the RIAA. Culture II is certified 2x-Platinum.

Chika Reacts To Catching Heat Online For Shading Selena Gomez

Chika is known to be very opinionated on her social media accounts. One of her recently presented thoughts about Selena Gomez led to fans of the Pop singer filling up the Grammy-nominated rapper’s mentions with hate-tweets.

The stan backlash on Twitter apparently began after one user asked Chika what is her favorite thing about Selena Gomez. Chika quote-tweeted the person’s question and then responded, “Beautiful gowns.”

That seemingly harmless answer was actually a reference to a viral moment from Aretha Franklin’s career. The late R&B legend was once asked to share her views on a list of modern-day female performers.

Franklin praised the talents of other “divas” like Adele, Alicia Keys, and Whitney Houston. However, her response about Taylor Swift was viewed by some as a polite way to throw shade at the Pennsylvania native.

“Great gowns, beautiful gowns” was all the Queen of Soul had to say about Swift. That response has since become an internet meme as a way to jokingly criticize an artist that is perceived as not having strong vocal abilities.

Selena Gomez’s Twitter followers picked up on Chika’s tweet and started slamming the Once Upon a Time EP creator. Chika’s reactions to the online heat suggested she was taking the backlash in stride.

“I deadass can’t even be mad at the stans. Go up for your queen. I coulda kept my compliment to myself [for real, for real] [face with tears of joy emoji]. I respect it,” tweeted Chika. “Internet teenagers think that fun shade means you dislike someone [in real life]. Chile, I don’t know ha. Some s### is just objectively funny.”

The Warner Records signee later added, “Even tho her fans wylin, I’m not gonna actually say anything mean about the girl (and ask that my fans don’t either). The joke isn’t to be cruel. This was a fun kiki with the girls. Stan culture is part of the sport. Have at it!”

Talib Kweli Continues To Tease Black Star Reunion With Yasiin Bey (Mos Def)

“I have an album with Diamond D and a new Black Star album with Yasiin Bey on the way,” Talib Kweli told AllHipHop.com in 2020. The idea of a reunited Black Star excited many of the duo’s diehard fans at the time.

Nearly a year later, Kweli is still teasing the possibility of the two Brooklynites finally releasing the follow-up to 1998’s classic Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star album. A few social media pictures have reignited the intrigue.

Kweli posted a photo of himself and Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) on Instagram over the weekend. The People’s Party podcast host tagged his musical partner as well as the verified Black Star IG account.

Both the @talibkweli and the @blackstarkeepshining Instagram pages also uploaded a pic of the “Definition” performers with DJ Premier as part of a birthday shoutout. The legendary Hip Hop producer turned 55 on March 21.

Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star introduced the two New York City-bred rappers to a larger audience. They each went on to have successful solo careers, and many rap enthusiasts considered them among the top emcees of their generation.

Last year, Kweli also explained to AllHipHop.com one reason why the collaborative body of work has not been released yet. He said, “Trying to find the right deal for the Black Star album. There are a few on the table, but we have to choose the right situation and roll this out properly. The people deserve that.”

Quavo Reportedly Did Not Send A Repo Man To Repossess Saweetie’s Bentley

The breakup of Quavo and Saweetie was one of the biggest stories in Hip Hop in recent days. One rumor that began circulating post-split centered around the Migos member allegedly taking back a car he gifted to his then-girlfriend.

Quavo reportedly gave Saweetie a Bentley as a Christmas present in 2020. According to TMZ, stories of the luxury vehicle being repossessed from the “My Type” rapper are completely false.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CJKkFjQsaCY/?utm_source=ig_embed

The site reports:

Sources directly connected to Quavo tell TMZ … he didn’t repo the Bentley, and anything suggesting otherwise is flat-out false. Reports surfaced Saturday that Quavo sent the Repo Man out to Saweetie’s home in the wee hours of the morning to take the car back.

Saweetie and Quavo began dating around 2018. News that their relationship came to an end was confirmed when the self-described Icy Girl tweeted she is single and suggested that Quavo was unfaithful.

“I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character. Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women,” posted Saweetie.

Quavo addressed what he called “false narratives” by tweeting, “I had love for you and disappointed you did all that. You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best.” Saweetie responded by writing, “Take care.”

It’s a hit that made it’s way to the world stage when it was featured on the Instagram’s viral phenomenon, “Verzuz” featuring Keyshia Cole and Ashanti.”  The battle had record-breaking streams of over 11.3 million fans who tuned in to the event of the year“Yayo” surpassed the expectations projected and the single is well on it’s way to becoming  the signature song off his album “Reloaded.”

The collaborative efforts of Houston’s own, Go DJ Hi-C and the alluring female emcee, Moe Vickers gave the project that added Houston flavor that garnered hit status. Their powerful performances were the extra sauce needed along with features by Trina, Rico Love, Boosie and Yung Rich. Check out his latest project, “Indestructible” which was released January 15th, 2021. The Hip-Hop Museum of Washington, DC Inducts Grandmaster Caz, Coke La Rock, Grand Wizzard Theodore & MC G.L.O.B.E.

They say, “Build it and they will come.” Such is the case for The Hip-Hop Museum of Washington, DC highlighting the talents of four pioneers who made a major contribution to the culture. By inducting them in a private ceremony Sunday, February 28th 2020, at the birthplace of Hip-Hop, which is 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx, New York, the The Hip-Hop Museum of Washington, DC made history.

Historian Jay Quan had the honor of inducting the legends: Coke La Rock (Father of Rapping), Grand Wizzard Theodore (Inventor of the SCRATCH, Fantastic 5, L-Brothers), Grandmaster Caz (Cold Crush Bros. & Wild Style), and MC G.L.O.B.E. (Soulsonic Force), with a private induction ceremony hosted by comedian Russell Peters at the birthplace of Hip-Hop.

Although there were more contributing founders of Hip-Hop, four were chosen to be honored by Jeremy Beaver – the founder of the Hip-Hop Museum of Washington, DC. A beautiful addition to the ceremony was the donation of the vintage flyers from the infamous  ‘King of Hip-Hop Flyers’ Buddy Esquire, who passed away in 2014. Johan Kugelberg who was Buddy’s friend and Biographer, donated the collection to the museum. It was an invaluable asset that topped the historical event.

Hip-Hop Publicist Lynn Hobson recounts, “Hip-Hop is a culture and art movement that was created by African Americans, Latino Americans and Caribbean Americans in the Bronx. Its evolution was shaped by many different artists, but there’s a case to be made that it came to life precisely on August 11, 1973, at a birthday party in the recreation room of an apartment building in the Bronx, New York City. This historic party was the birthday girl’s brother, Clive Campbell—better known to history as DJ Kool Herc, founding father of hip-hop and Coke La Rock, founding father of rhyming. This became the birthplace of Hip-Hop. DJ Kool Herc was born and raised in Jamaica until he was 10 before his family moved to the Bronx. He began spinning records at parties while his father’s band played in between sets in the early 70’s.  Coke La Rock performed by what was known as “toasting” at the time as DJ Kool Herc spun the records. Together with the help of repeating the record’s ‘drum-break,’ the two created what is now known as Hip-Hop.”

Visit HipHopMuseumDC.org for more videos and information on the ceremony and how you can be involved in helping to preserve America’s #1 export.

Detroit Rapper G.T. Enlists Curren$y, Babyface Ray & More On New LP ‘Call Me G.T.’

But there’s no question from from Larry June to Curren$y to Jay Worthy there’s a host of artists delivering that clean slow flow. Philly Acts Suggest Some Strong Allegations With Jay-Z!

If you know Hip-Hop, you know Philly has some of the dopest rappers going back to the 80s — and 70s even. Well….well well. This is going to be a bit much.

I am not sure of the whole story but let’s just start with an interview Talib Kweli did with Quest Love. As you know, QuestLove has worked with Jay-Z numerous times in the past, and those times were rather epic. The T#### even backed Jay-Z for his famous live album, which featured none other than future FOE Jaguar Wright. And it was all good! ALLEGEDLY!

Fast forward to this interview with his Brooklyn brother. Talib Kweli asked Questo an interesting question that lead into an answer that was very unexpected. It seemed like QuestLove had basically suggested that Black thought was a threat to Jay Z‘s Hip-Hop superiority. It’s interesting to note that the pair never did a song together, even though The Roots worked with Jay-Z. So, it’s logical that one of the greatest rappers of all times would work with another one of the greatest rappers of all time for something incredible. It has never happened to this day. Even now, Black Thought continues to rap at a top god level, but there’s no chance that he and Jay-Z will do a song together. Why? Nobody really knows the answer to that but it has been inferred that there was some black balling going on.

A post shared by RAP RAPPERS HIP-HOP EXPERT (@myreligionisrap)

Last but not least there is Choke No Joke. Now if you know who Choke No Joke is, he’s a former employee of Roc-A-Fella when they were at their pinnacle. He leaned towards working with Dame Dash more than Jay-Z, but he was definitely there. Now Choke No Joke has gone hard at Jay-Z and most of the surrounding planets in his orbit for quite a long time. He even said that Jay-Z blackballed Young Chris, the young rapper that was State Property adjacent. But he was in the Young Gunz. YO! The Roc had a lot of Philly love before Meek Mill! At any rate, Choke No Joke said he’s no longer even talking about Jay anymore, because between Quest Love, Gillie , and some of the other allegations, he feels like he’s validated. We’ll see if that happens because he’s always had a lot to say!!

I think Choke has a private account, but he’s basking in the glory. LOL!!!

I am not sure what this means? I dunno. Jay-Z is still Jay-Z and all the others mentioned are still doing “them” aka being legendary.

John John da Don and Ace Amin Come Dressed for the Fad3— Leave With a Classic

Battle Rap’s March Madness, a marathon of cards featuring the best of the best in the culture, jumped off with a battle that has been publicly brewing for a year.

John John da Don’s Bullpen League hosted a four-battle event in Atlanta called Fad3.

Bullpen Fad3 Promotional Flyer

On Saturday, March 20th, right before Ghostface Killah and Raekwon dueled it out as brothers on Verzuz, Fliko L challenged Riggz, Clone went up against PC, and Bad Newz welcomed his former DOT MOBB brother Snake Eyez to the bullpen. Rounding out the night was the headliner, JJDD and Ace Amin who used bars to dead a beef that had the real potential to become violent.

The crowd in the building and the audience watching on stream waited with bated breath as the two squared up.

John John da Don, FAD3 (Promotions)

The Atlanta (by way of Yonkers) rapper was dressed to the nines in a classic grey suit with a burgundy-wine straight tie and pocket square. The choice to wear the accented colors was intentional for the 6 foot plus ginger. A shade contrast lighter than maroon, rocking it communicated to everyone around (the viewers, the battlers, other league owners, potential sponsors, and his opponent) that he was a mature man of wealth and prosperity. At the same time, it suggests that he is an aggressive man with the potential to do someone in — like a mob boss should the situation call for it.

Ace Amin, FAD3 (Photo Credit: D.I. da Hennyman)

Ace Amin also communicated money. His expression was more subtle. He was attired in black (symbolic of power, mystery, and effortless sophistication). Completing his initial look was a sleek Gucci cap, that proved to be a cleverly used prop for this first round. It was clear that the DMV native’s flex was hood luxury, hustler empowerment, and by the time he was ready to rap, street-level ambivalence. After taking off his jacket, he barked on the notable top-tier vet in a wife-beater — another prop used in the battle.

The question might be why pay attention to the intentionality of how the two were dressed? It is simple. It completely articulated who was showing up the fight, the tools they were using to get their respective win, what was to be communicated about the battle after it was over and the tone of their rounds. Both opponents were genius in their approaches, regardless of how fans chose to call it.

This will be a classic battle for Bullpen. It is not only the definition of what a “preference battle is,” but it shows the culture how Black men should resolve eruptive/ disruptive conflict.

If they can settle the bulk of it in private, create energy around the sportsmanship and entertainment nature of the circumstance, and then get a bag — why not.

Again … this was the genius of the hood … the genius of the flip … the genius of battle rap … the genius of Black men with true vision and an eye on the bigger picture.

These were two battlers that set the tone, replacing camouflage as the war fatigues and stepped their psychological wardrobes up. They came dressed for the fade (FAD3) but left without a proverbial spot or wrinkle from the war.

A First Look At Summer Walker And London On Da Track’s Baby!

April fools Came Early! HA!

Here’s Summer Walker and London On Da Track’s Baby! LOL!

Download Baby Dancing In Womb Gif | PNG & GIF BASE

You guys listen to me. This is a new day and a new age. Summer Walker and London On Da Track have a baby…on the way. However, this has not stopped the pair from having an Instagram page for the fetus! The baby, I would imagine, is taking selfies from da belly! This is very strange to me and perhaps a first.

This is simply the time that we are living in. It reminds me of that movie the Truman show from back in the day. Only this time, the subject of the show hasn’t even been born, much less made a decision to be put in the limelight. When that kid becomes a teenager, he or she is probably going to be either really really good or really really bad.

But, I’m not going to judge too hard but it just feels like these guys are setting up a frenzy around their own kid being born. I would just like to say, I hope that they are praying mostly for a healthy baby, not a famous baby. I would hate for something tragic to happen and then this all play out sadly on social media.

I know they are praying for it, but I will too.

Fat Joe Addresses “Wuhan Virus” Lyric: “I Support And Love All My Asian Brothers And Sisters”

Fat Joe just replied to growing criticism over some lyrics he dropped about the “Wuhan Virus” on a new track from Benny The Butcher and Harry Fraud’s new album.

Fat Joe found himself in a minor controversy on Friday when Benny the Butcher and Harry Fraud released their opus, The Plugs I Met 2 (March 19th).

Fans were happy with the offering from Benny and Harry, but the song “Talkin Back” featuring Fat Joe drew widespread condemnation, for what many perceived was “anti-Asian” rhetoric.

On “Talkin Back” Fat Joe spits:

“Track me in and out of court – Harvey Weinstein/Threw that white up in the pot gave em pipe dreams/Watch it spread like the Wuhan virus/Do em dirty for the low like Wu-Tang ‘Sirus”

Some people were deeply offended by the verse, which many claimed was an insult to Asian people in the wake of the murders of eight people – six of them Asian women – at the hands of a white terrorist.

Fat Joe denied he was being offensive and said his verse was recorded last year when some media outlets were calling COVID-19 the “Wuhan Virus.”

“I’ll adress the Benny verse i did that verse a year ago when the news was calling it the wuhan virus before they called it COVID i support and love all my asian brothers and sisters never hate,” Fat Joe said.

A number of Fat Joe’s fans replied to his statement to support him, but he still has some detractors who are still not pleased.

The fact is, crimes against Asian-Americans have increased since the outbreak of the Coronavirus. The number of crimes reported to the cops increased almost 150% between 2019-2020.

In the past year, there were over 3,800 reports of crimes committed against Asian men and women in the past year.

Man Accused Of Killing Nicki Minaj’s Tour Manager Heading To Prison For A Long Time

A man accused of killing a member of Nicki Minaj’s crew has been sentenced to a lengthy prison sentence for the murder.

In March of 2020, Khaliyfa Neely, 39, was convicted of third-degree murder, aggravated and simple assault, and possession of an instrument of crime in connection to the case.

Neely was convicted of stabbing De’Von Andre Pickett outside a Philadelphia bar in 2015 during a conflict with Khaliyfa Neely and Pierce Boykin.

Pickett and his friend Eric Reese fought with the pair, over a woman. Like Pickett, Reese was stabbed during the fight with Neely and Boykin.

Earlier this week, Neely was sentenced to 20-40 years in prison.

Initially, Boykin was charged with Pickett’s murder, but that charge was reduced to aggravated assault. Boykin was sentenced to 23 months in jail for his role in Pickett’s murder.

De’Von Andre Pickett was supposed to serve as the stage manager for Nicki’s European tour before he was murdered in cold blood.

Teddy Riley Says Deadly Clash With New Edition Made Him Quit R&B Group Guy

Before Teddy Riley became one of the top producers in the music business, he was a member of the R&B group Guy.

The group ushered in the “New Jack Swing” era, with a successful run of hits like “Groove Me,” “I Like,” and “Piece of My Love.” But Teddy decided he had enough of being in Guy, so he left at the height of their popularity.

In an upcoming episode of “UNCENSORED” that is scheduled to premiere tonight (March 21st), Teddy says an intense, violent beef with New Edition led to him quitting Guy, according to Bossip.

Guy and New Edition had a well-documented feud when they were out on the road touring together in the late 1980s.

In the latest edition of “UNCENSORED,” Teddy reveals he decided to quit when his friend/security manager Anthony Bee was shot to death by a member of New Edition’s entourage one night while they were out on tour.

The shooting happened in July of 1989, when the beef exploded in Pittsburgh and a member of New Edition’s security detail gunned Bee down in front of the Hyatt Hotel.

“My friend Anthony Bee got shot three or four times by one of a New Edition guys. I don’t want to put his name out there because you know, he’s forgiven. You know he was defending himself, but it was my guy who got shot. The reason why I quit the group was because I lost my best friend and I couldn’t take the pressure,” Teddy Riley said on “UNCENSORED.”

Teddy Riley’s new episode of “UNCENSORED” debuts tonight at 10:00 PM ET.

Ghostface Announces Supreme Clientele II For Hip-Hop Heads Delight!

Grammy-Nominated Songwriter Trev Rich Gamifies His Fanbase With “Out The Dark”

In recent years, we’ve witnessed the gaming industry and Hip-Hop culture become intertwined more than ever before.

Some of music’s biggest stars have jumped on Twitch to play Fortnite with popular streamers and invested in various esports organizations. With gaming becoming a popular staple in our culture, it’s no surprise that rappers, both mainstream and independent, are recognizing the parallels between the respective fanbases in esports and Hip-Hop.

Some artists, like Denver-bred, Hip-Hop recording artist Trev Rich are taking a unique spin on the crossover between these industries and gamifying his own fanbase.

The Grammy-nominated songwriter took to social media to announce that supporters can unlock certain songs off his forthcoming Out The Dark project by completing tasks off his OTD Fan Checklist.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CMinqJKrKBF/

“I just want to do something for my fans that’s super dope… and put the project in their hands,” Trev Rich stated on Instagram.

Encouraging his audience to participate in fan art, album pre-saves and merch sales, Trev Rich is allowing fans to take the reins as they help him reach goals for the project rollout.

“Once the fans collectively complete all of these tasks, the full album will unlock,” the fan checklist reads.

Though it’s uncertain when we will receive the full Out the Dark album, it’ll probably be sooner than later with fans responding positively and sharing this announcement on social media.

Fans can visit Trev Rich’s official website to monitor a loading bar that reflects what percentage of the album has been released.

Raekwon, Ghostface Battle It Out During Verzuz; “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 3,” New Book And Energy Drink Coming

The first Verzuz battle to happen after Swizz Beatz and Timbaland sold the franchise to Triller earlier this month, happened tonight featuring an unconventional pairing.

Two of The Wu-Tang Clan’s most popular members, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah went up against each other.

However, unlike the other battles, they shared the stage in a true celebration of each other’s work.

Sure, that is supposed to be the way they have been playing this thing out … but no other episode has or could be like Rae and Ghost. The two are in the same group.

The two have very similar styles. Most of all, they appear on each other’s albums in such a way that you might even consider them a duo.

Raekwon and Ghost put on a memorable performance during round one of their friendly competition running through songs like “Incarcerated Scarfaces,” “Nutmeg,” “Ice Cream,” “Criminology,” “Cherchez La Ghost,” while Cappadonna and RZA popped in and made appearances.

In round two, Raekwon held it down and performed “C.R.E.A.M,” as Ghostface went missing for the first few minutes of the second half, only to reappear in a new outfit, sporting a massive white fur before launching into his song “Holla.”

Other songs in round two included “Daytona 500,” “Glaciers of Ice,” “Run,” “One,” and “Back Like That,” “Never Be The Same Again,” “Summertime,” and “Can It Be All So Simple,” while Inspectah Deck and Masta Killah were special guests.

RZA popped back in during the second half to give a toast to Raekwon and Ghostface.

“On behalf of what yall do, and what you’ve brought to Hip-Hop, word is bond, I salute yall, just want to say peace and blessing,” RZA said.

Raekwon revealed he is in the process of writing a new book, “From the Staircases to the Stage,” a 300-page book about his life coming out through Simon & Shuster.

Ghostface revealed he has five albums planned, in addition to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 3 with Raekwon. Ghost is also working on a new energy drink called “C.R.E.A.M.”

Rae and Ghost’s Verzuz proved why they are one of Hip-Hop’s greatest duos — up there with P and Hav, Meth and Red, and Snoop and Dre.

The first member of the Wu-Tang Clan to appear on the franchise was RZA during season one, against DJ Premier.

Just one month ago, Method Man became the second Wu member on Verzuz and the first in season 2.  He was not in competition, but joined D’Angelo’s set to perform their hit song, “Break Ups 2 Make Ups” and “Left & Right.”

Lil Durk Addresses Mass Shooting At Club That Injured Seven And Killed One

The police in Dallas Texas are on the hunt for a gunman who shut up an after-party featuring Lil Durk in what could be labeled as a mass shooting.

Lil Durk was hosting an after-party at Pryme nightclub when police responded to an emergency call about an active shooter.

By the time cops arrived, seven people were shot, and a 21-year-old woman was killed.

The cops believe an argument in front of the club led to the shooting. Lil Durk denied the shooting had anything to do with the after-party.

“So cap it wasn’t a shooting not even a fight at the club…seem like the police got n##### working real street n##### be safe out here,” Lil Durk said.

The cops are on the hunt for two suspects – one man who attempted to calm the shooter down, and the actual gunman himself. So far, police have yet to make an arrest in the latest high-profile shooting incident involving a rapper.

In November of 2020, 28-year-old Dallas rapper Mo3 was gunned down and killed on I-35. Shortly after Mo3’s death, Boosie was targeted and shot in the leg, when gunmen open fire on his sprinter van.
