Mir Fontane Explains Cardi B “Up” Similarities In Detail & Teases “Melody Monster” Album

You may have seen Mir Fontane’s names all over the blogs recently, but one thing remains true: his real fans remain by his side. When Cardi B released her most recent single “Up,” the similarities between her hook and Fontane’s “Stuck” were uncanny and did not go unnoticed. He repetitively raps on his song: “if it’s up then it’s stuck” — exactly what Cardi says on the chorus of “Up.”

However, the show must go on. The New Jersey rapper merely views this as motivation to go harder, especially given the positive response on his standout single “Call J. Cole.” Coming right back with more heat, he recently followed it up with his newest release titled “Made In Trauma,” holding fans over until his forthcoming project Melody Monster. When it comes to his bars, his melodies, his flows, and his choice of trap-heavy beats, Mir Fontane comes out on top in his own lane, with his own sound and story.

AllHipHop: How does cannabis improve your life?

Mir Fontane: My mind’s constantly racing so it helps me to slow things down enough to process s###, to actually think things out and not think too far ahead. It helps me manage my anxiety too.

AllHipHop: What are you most excited for with Melody Monster arriving on March 12th?

Mir Fontane: Melody Monster has been in the works for a couple years now. I’m more excited for the album. This is my favorite album: my most introspective, my most vulnerable. I haven’t dropped a project since 2019. I’ve been doing EPs since my brother got murdered. I took that time off to come to terms with things and tap into myself. I’m less into writing trying to make hit records, more into writing from the heart. SThis whole album is way more introspective than anything I’ve done before.

AllHipHop: How is music a coping mechanism for you?

Mir Fontane: At the time, I didn’t even want to do music. I wanted to stop, but I know he loved music a lot. All he wanted us to do is to continue doing the Southside thing and make it mainstream, make it big. For me to stop, I know he wouldn’t agree with that. I’ll be letting a lot of fans down, a lot of people that look up to my music and constantly hit me up in the DMs to be like “yo, this song’s getting me through a rough time right now. I wanted to reach out and say thank you for making it.” Little stuff like that keeps me going. That’s why I’m excited for this album. A whole bunch of tracks are relatable to a lot of my fans right now, especially because they haven’t heard a lot from me in the past couple of years.

AllHipHop: Someone asked is “Down By The River” about your brother?

Mir Fontane: Nah, that’s way before I lost my brother Jose. “Down By the River” was somebody I grew up with, a similar story actually. It’s why I do music. A lot of my people love music or they have certain outlets they wish they could do, like everybody can’t sing. Everybody can’t rap, everybody can’t draw, everybody can’t do certain things, but they all have the same goal in mind: to get out of this f###### city. For me, I’m able to tell their stories. I’m able to do interviews like this and give them a voice when all they feel they have is to do street s###. They look to me as a beacon of light and I stand on that. “Down By the River” is one of many people that I’ve lost coming up before I even got into music. I got a thousand more stories to tell of people I’ve met, to give to the world.

AllHipHop: Has J. Cole called yet?

Mir Fontane: Nah, J. Cole ain’t called yet. I’m still waiting on a call. If y’all can make it happen, pull your strings and make it happen.

AllHipHop: What were you feeling recording that record?

Mir Fontane: I was motivated. I wanted to get back to that essence of when I first started making music. Before I started experimenting into melody and singing like that, I was really into storytelling. Lyricism, real bar heavy. Don’t let a line go past without it having some type of meaning. I want to let people know I still can rap. I’m not out here making TikTok songs or sing-songy records. I can rap with the best of them, it was one of those moments.

AllHipHop: What do you admire about J.Cole? On the lyricist tip, he’s crazy.

Mir Fontane: Growing up off of being introduced to hip-hop, it was more so Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Biggie Smalls, the real lyricists. As I got older and I started getting into music for myself and what my own taste was, I got into Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole. That’s around the time I was going to college. I found that me and J.Cole had really similar stories, even down to the struggles with his stepdad. Being this kid with big dreams but you’re on this college campus feeling like you’re bigger than everything that’s here.

You’re destined for something so much bigger coming from the city, so many parallels I related to. The things I didn’t pick up with J. Cole on the street side, I got with Kendrick. J. Cole played a real big role in me taking my own skills, outside of punchlines I learned from Lil Wayne. J. Cole was way more: it’s okay to tell your own personal story. It’s okay to be personal in your music. I hold that dear to myself because that really was the last artist I listened to before I dropped out of college and went on this venture of music.

AllHipHop: Talk about working with Mike Zombie, I know he’s from Jersey too.

Mir Fontane: That’s my brother. I always try to get in the studio with Mike, we do that whenever we can. Whether he’s in LA or he comes to Jersey, we link up. This new album Melody Monster, Mike has 5 or 6 tracks alone. We went crazy this time around during the pandemic and all the time off we took, we definitely locked in and found different vibes. He called me at different times when I was going through my depression, when I was at my lows or climbing out of that hole. He’s feeding me beats, motivating me to continue making music and not give up on it. Document what I was going through, I thank him for that because it helped me to create this body of music I have right now. A bunch of different vibes. It’s all over the place, but it’s cohesive at the same time.

AllHipHop: Someone said “I love how Mir’s always on positivity and weakness, such a genuine person.”

Mir Fontane: Even when I was coming up, I never wanted to portray like I’m larger than life. At the end of the day, I’m a human being which gave me my superpower. That’s everybody’s superpower. I can’t be you, that’s literally what makes you you and makes you great. I always wanted to find who I was, no matter how much I thought I knew who I was. Certain s### happened in life that forced me to retrieve inside myself and find things wrong with me. Work on some shadow work, things I don’t like about myself. All the ugly sides about yourself that people don’t like to fix, you gotta fix those things.

Music’s an outlet for me. Drawing and art was an outlet for me, playing basketball, talking to my friends, playing the game. I was finding little things that made me happy to be alive. I was living for everybody else more than myself. I thought that was a good thing being able to live for the fans, but I feel like I didn’t belong to myself at a certain point. I had to get back into finding out who I was, the music benefitted from that.

AllHipHop: You say “you’re the face of your city.” What does it mean to have hometown love?

Mir Fontane: It feels great. The crab and the bucket mentality is an inner city thing, there’s a lot of that going around. My grandpa told me a quote, a lot of people will shake the ship because they’re not the captain of the boat. I understood people will do something to tear me down because they weren’t the first one to do it or they aren’t the one getting all the praise. I got a whole lot more love and support than I got hate from the city. I embrace that more than anything.

Those rocking with me and was genuine about it, I did all I could to help them and continue to today. I take a lot of pride in that. The older people running the city before it was me and how they’re really controlling the city, it was a dynamic of dog-eat-dog type s###. They didn’t want to see anybody be bigger than them. I’m at a point where if you can do it, do it. I’ma be there cheering for you because at the same time, we all playing for the same team. I’m not in competition with anybody, I don’t want beef with anybody from my city. That’s counterproductive to what I’m trying to get done. It means a lot of people are starting to embrace that now.

AllHipHop: We gotta get into this Cardi s###. What was your reaction when you heard Cardi B’s “Up”?

Mir Fontane: I was asleep when I first heard, it was 3am and my phone’s going crazy. I’m thinking the worst. When your phone’s going crazy at that hour… I pick up my phone, I didn’t even want to look at the message thread. I glance at it, I keep on seeing Cardi B within all the messages. What’s going on? I open up Ish Williams’ message first, he’s like “is Cardi B stealing your s###?” He double texts like “nah, she’s definitely stealing your s###.” I’m really not understanding what’s going on. As he’s typing, I’m going back to the other messages to see what they’re talking about.

As I am, he sends me a side-by-side video that’s going around the internet right now. I click and it’s my “Stuck” video, okay cool. Then it’s her record, wait when did she drop this?” because I don’t really keep up with Cardi B’s music. I’m thinking she been dropped it, they said “she dropped it minutes ago.” People send me records all the time from certain artists like “oh, I tink this person’s copying your flow.” I say all the time it’s a reach. I always say “good looking for you to be looking out for me in that way, but I don’t think this person’s stealing anything from me.” Everybody’s sing-rapping nowadays, right? But this one stuck out because we’d been performing and promoting this song all summer.

It really stuck out because I was about to not do music. I was going through depression, a whole bunch of s###. This was around April, my birthday month. My boy Mir Pesos, I went to a couple of his sessions. We never did a song together because he wasn’t the type like “oh Mir Fontane, let’s get a record,” trying to get clout off me and I respected him for that. I’m not even trying to make music. My boy Wayne Campbell’s making beats. He’s trying to get me out of my slump, shout out Wayne. He hit me up like “we’re in the studio.” They’re recording in a shed in the backyard. I pull up, Pesos is already recording his verse. I sit down and be quiet, they’re recording. He gets done with his verse but the whole time he’s rapping, I’m listening to the beat like “I got something for this.”

I don’t rap no more, but you can’t walk away from something you love. I didn’t come to rap but yo, this is hard. He sits down next to me and sees me mouthing the hook that’s in my head. He said “you got something? Lay it.” Alright so I go and lay the verse. I didn’t write it, none of that because I don’t write, I wasn’t doing music. IIf you know my music, you know I get real complex with my writing. That’s very, very simple when it comes to Mir Fontane’s catalog. I came up with “up then it’s stuck.”

This whole thing was never about the phrase or the hook. She could’ve said “ducks in a truck”, anything. It’s the cadence, the melody, the high hats, all that sounded the same to me, which made me say “this is our s###, this the s### we made.”

It was never about her saying “Up then it’s stuck,” I see a lot of people saying that. We made the record in April. From April 2nd, we’re performing it. We ended up dropping the teaser video at the end of one of his videos called “Pocket Rocket Pes” on August 6th. They dropped the official video to “Up” on September.

I don’t want to say it caught me off guard because I know certain people who work with Cardi close to her camp, but any artist would be shocked if you wake up and hear your s### in somebody else’s… especially somebody that big and to that caliber where they can bully and say “I didn’t even know who you are, where could I get it from?” Specifically if I know main people that have things to do with your song, they know me and are fans of my music, I can’t reach that far. My arm’s not that long.

AllHipHop: So how do you feel now?

Mir Fontane: To me, that’s something that happened on social media. Behind the scenes, I’m handling my business and whatever we gotta do as far as legal situations. Melody Monster was already dropping March 12th, we already got our rollout plan. I wake up at 3 o’clock in the morning and there’s a song that sounds like my song. The fans were already saying “did you hear this? Check this out, I think Cardi B’s doing boom, boom, boom.” When I put it up on Twitter, I never mentioned Cardi. I never said her name, I put up this emoji. I only had 18K on Twitter, I might get a couple of hundred opinions. I started getting hundreds of thousands of opinions, it started catching a wave. Why’s it going crazy?.

I look back and she replied to me in less than 24 hours, and only me. That’s very suspicious that you’re jumping out of the window for that, guilty vibes. I felt some type of way, then she put a date on it. That’s crazy you put a date on that, we did our teaser the day before that. Everything was lining up really weird for me. It made me feel like “alright, that’s f##### up,” but at the same time, it could be a blessing in disguise. A lot more people say “it’s f##### up, but I’m so glad I found your music. I love ‘Call J.Cole,’ I found ‘Bodega.” Where have you been? I’m so glad I found you. You got catalogs of music, I can go back.” It’s finding a new show on Netflix: it’s seasons, I can start from the beginning. I take the good with the bad, we handled the situation. I was never upset or blamed Cardi, I know she’s part of a bigger structure. She’s a megastar, she has a team behind her. Somebody messed up or thought they could get over, wrong guy. Big Camden, big Jersey!

AllHipHop: How does it feel to have “Bodega” hit 3 million on Spotify?

Mir Fontane: It’s such a blessing. I thank everybody that’s been playing it, everybody continually streaming it. I always aim to make timeless music, I don’t make music that’s not going to be cool by next year. I want to thank everybody who continues to support and stream these songs at any occasion, even send me the videos on Instagram so I can put them back on my story. It’s a blessing I even have several songs to be able to hit millions on streaming platforms. I never could have even imagined this when I first started to make music. I was thankful to get a thousand views on Youtube at one point, to even get a hundred plays. To even see where we’re at now, we’re going to keep on taking it up. God-willing, we take it to the top.

AllHipHop: Are you doing features with other rappers?

Mir Fontane: Hopefully in the future. It was way easier to get features when the world was open and you running into rappers face to face. It’s really hard. You don’t know who you’re talking to on these social sites. If you’re talking to them or their manager, or if they got an intern who runs their social media account. It’s hard to do that, but there’s a couple people who I know for sure see if we can get something lined up. Iron sharpens iron, it’s even a couple of old features I want to go back and make some new records. I want to get a record with Packman. Doe Boy’s been one of my favorite rappers recently, I love his energy. Later down the line, probably get a Durk feature. Step outside the realm and create something completely new.

AllHipHop: What do you do for fun? What do you do to stay grounded?

Mir Fontane: I crack jokes. I play video games, I play NBA2K. I don’t know if it’s winding down, but I write music still. I make art and draw on my tablet, my iPad. If you like art, I encourage you all to download Procreate. It’s a great app. I like to stay creative. I don’t really like to stay too out of the creative element, because then it’s hard to get back into.

AllHipHop: What’re you most excited for with Melody Monster coming out?

Mir Fontane: I’m really excited for the rollout: what we have planned for the deluxe, how we’re going to do the deluxe, what comes with the deluxe album. Overall, I’m excited to get the fans new music. New Macaroni, new Mir Fontane, big Melody Monster. It got all different kinds of flavors. If you like “Call J.Cole,” we got more records like that. It’s a mixture of “Camden,” “Macaroni Tony,” and “Who’s Watching the Kids,” all of them put up into one album. If you’re a fan of Mir Fontane, this album’s going to be an overdose for you

AllHipHop: What’re you most excited for in the new year?

Mir Fontane: Listen, we’re going to get millions this year. This is the year where s### goes crazy: different confidence, different energy. I’m real excited for the world to open up, get back on tour, get back to doing these shows. I know everybody wants to see me.

AllHipHop EXCLUSIVE: Kodak Black Wants To Fund Alternative Power Sources For Haiti Now That He Is Allowed To Travel

Rap star Kodak Black is aiming to make an international impact around the country – and even internationally now that a judge has granted him the right to travel.

Kodak may have been pardoned by President Donald Trump on January 19th, the revered rapper is not in the clear just yet.

The rapper served 21 months of a three-and-a-half-year sentence in a maximum-security prison, for lying on a Federal application to purchase several firearms.

And while Trump helped spring Kodak, he’s still on probation for the next 35 months.

Kodak, real name Bill K. Kapri, wants to do lots of good in the world, and he’s already off to a good start.

A judge has agreed to ease up on the travel restrictions so he can get to work to fund some of his charitable endeavors, one of which is funding alternative power sources for his ancestral home of Haiti.

The rap star also hopes to build a school in Haiti, and here in the United States, Kodak wants to fund future scholarship opportunities for students in high-school who come from low-income neighborhoods.

Kodak Black Asks Permission to Travel

Kodak is also planning to offer up business grants for prior convicted felons, to help them fund their start-up businesses. The rapper isn’t just talking either.

Since his pardon, Kodak Black has established a $100,000 scholarship at Nova Southeastern Law School in honor of Meadow Pollack, who was killed during the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland, Florida in February of 2018.

Kodak is also footing the bill for the college education of three of the children of two FBI agents, who were killed on February 2nd, as they served a warrant on a sexual offender.

Now, the rapper is allowed to hit the road in order to generate the income he needs to execute his plans.

“In order to continue to do the charity he is committed to do; we are asking for the courts permission to be able to travel the United States for work purposes only,” Kodak’s lawyer Brad Cohen explained. “This travel is for business that Mr. Kapri is being compensated for and not for purposes of personal entertainment.”

On another positive note, Kodak Black is currently enrolling in higher education courses.

Guess Who Left Hip-Hop To Be A Pro-Basketball Player Overseas?

I keep telling you guys that the rap game is hurting right now. If you look at the landscape it’s filthy! Well, we have a new one, and it may not be as bad as some of the others but it is very revealing.

The rapper Sheck Wes remember him? Harlem! Sheck Wes are used to date Justine Skye, and he was accused of being inappropriate with her. Nothing came out of that. At any rate it looks like Shecky has abandoned his rap dreams for the moment and is going overseas to be a professional basketball player in Paris!

That’s right Paris! Personally I am not sure where he got his skills from. I didn’t know that he had those skills, but he must have something because he’s a professional! There isn’t much more on this as a far as I can ascertain but he starts in May 2021 and it’s not likely to turn back anytime soon. Pandemic Monaaaaaaaayyyyyy!

Check what I saw on social.

Personally, I am NOT mad at the brother! Do that!

T.I. & Tiny Sued For Defamation By Sabrina Peterson Over Gun Allegations

Clifford “T.I.” Harris, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, and Shekinah J. Anderson are now the subjects of a new defamation, slander, and libel suit levied by Sabrina Peterson, the woman that accused T.I. of putting a gun to her head.

McNeill, Wyatt, Purcell & Diggs, and T. A. Blackburn Law filed the lawsuit today against the trio. Attorney Tyrone Blackburn made the first revelation of the suit earlier today in a press conference, but the filing had yet to be formally made.

The parties made their claim in a statement that was released widely to the press.

“Defamation, slander and libel all carry legal action which Ivie McNeill Wyatt Purcell & Diggs together with T.A. Blackburn Law intend to litigate to the fullest extent on behalf of our client, Ms. Peterson.  A person’s choice of words, especially, words from public figures with millions of followers on social media, causes and has caused Ms. Peterson to suffer internal scars.  These salacious words may not have caused physical harm but they did destroy Ms. Peterson’s soul, reputation and causes irreparable harm to her business and her brand. T.I., Tiny nor Ms. Jones can unring that bell.”

At press time, T.I., Tiny nor their lawyer had a response, but they did offer a broad reply earlier in the dy.

Steve Sadow, counsel for the Harrises, said the following:

“I understand that at a virtual press conference today, attorney Blackburn claimed the Harrises reached out to him through me to supposedly make a deal. That is patently false. I reached out to see if he would share any information since his name was posted on Instagram as the attorney for Sabrina Peterson. Blackburn repeatedly refused to provide the names of his accuser-clients or any corroborating or supporting evidence of his groundless claims. The Harrises repeat that they are confident if a thorough and fair investigation is conducted, no charges will be brought.”

Peterson made her initial claim against T.I. and his wife Tiny on January 26 through her Instagram platform.

AllHipHop EXCLUSIVE: Lawyer For T.I. & Tiny’s Alleged Victims Speaks, T.I.’s Legal Counsel Responds

The lawyer representing at least eight alleged victims of rap star Clifford  “T.I.” Harris and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle held a press conference today (March 1st) to detail the allegations against the pair, and offer some new information regarding the status of the case.

So far, no criminal charges or civil lawsuits have been filed against T.I. and Tiny, who are accused of numerous infractions, including drugging and raping at least 11 women.

Tyrone Blackburn, the lawyer representing at least eight women, says he forwarded evidence to the Attorney Generals in Georgia and California, claiming that the celebrity couple kidnapped, drugged, and raped women in incidents dating back to 2007.

Blackburn seeks to have T.I. and Tiny prosecuted for violating the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), as well as the RICO, Kidnapping, Rape and Terrorist Threats Statutes.

During the press conference this morning, Blackburn claimed T.I. and Tiny’s high-powered lawyer Steve Sadow reached out to him on February 11th and claimed the “Family Hustle” stars were attempting to reach some sort of settlement deal to thwart any pending criminal charges.

During the brief conference, representatives for AllHipHop.com asked if any of the accusers sought to settle with the Harrises. Blackburn retorted that the music stars were the ones looking to end the case out of court, through counsel.

“If the deal involves Tiny and T.I. turning themselves in and admitting to the crimes that they’ve committed, then fine, we got a deal,” Tyrone Blackburn said during a press conference today (March 1st).  “If it does not, then I would prefer to have the investigators do their work and to bring criminal charges against Tiny and T.I. for what they’ve done throughout the years,” Tyrone Blackburn continued. “And at that point in time, we will assess whether or not we will be bringing any civil charges. But first things first, there needs to be a criminal investigation.”

According to Blackburn, Steve Sadow pressed him for more information on the victims during the phone call, which he said took place on February 11th.

He [T.I.’s lawyer Steve Sadow] wanted to know the names. He was insistent on learning who the individuals were and what evidence that they had. And he wants to know who the witnesses were. And I said to him, I made it very clear, ‘I will not be exposing these women to you or to your clients.’ The only people that will know their names will be the investigators because your client has a reputation of intimidation, your client has a reputation of committing violent acts. And he’s threatened some of these women in real-time when the incidents occurred. And he’s had his staff or his colleagues threaten them. So why would I provide you with their identity so you can intimidate them now again?”

T.I. and Tiny’s lawyer issued a statement to AllHipHop.com and flatly denied he made any overtures to settle on behalf of T.I. and Tiny, although he did admit to asking for information on the victims, presumably to craft a defense for his clients.

“I understand that at a virtual press conference today, attorney Blackburn claimed the Harrises reached out to him through me to supposedly make a deal. That is patently false,” Steve Sadow told AllHipHop.com in a statement.

“I reached out to see if he would share any information since his name was posted on Instagram as the attorney for Sabrina Peterson. Blackburn repeatedly refused to provide the names of his accuser-clients or any corroborating or supporting evidence of his groundless claims. The Harrises repeat that they are confident if a thorough and fair investigation is conducted, no charges will be brought,” Steve Sadow concluded.

The Next Verzuz Battle Revealed By Tim And Swizz!

Could we be looking for a Verzus battle with two of the best lyricist from the East Coast? It seems like both Timbaland and Swizz Beatz are looking for that whole thing! Like I have felt, Verzus has gotten a little bit soft around the edges and it’s time to get back to that gritty Hip-Hop!

The word on the street, is that Raekwon and Ghostface Killah will be the next Verzus battle that they will put on. I think this and we need more! All of us know that Ghost and Rae or really close and actually rap partners. They are the closest thing you can get to rap partners without being rap partners. They were never a group, but they remain one of the illest duos! And, so a Verzus battle will be very interesting with the two of them! They have so many songs together so who uses what’s song?

I think we know the answer to that because they just have to break it down along the lines of who recorded it for who on who’s album! I find this very interesting but will soon see. So many of these Verzus battles are talked about but never come to fruition. We just have to wait and see.

I did not watch the D’Angelo versus, because it was just a bunch of people performing and I was not into that. While I like D’Angelo, It has been just a little bit too long since he popped off and I was not interested at all. Shout out to him though! He needs to come back and a big one!

In other rumors Verzus-related, it seems like they tried to pull off a Valentine’s Day “battle” with Maxwell and D’Angelo but it just didn’t happen! Now that would’ve been very interesting because the ladies love those guys. I like them both too but certainly it would be an orgasmic experience for the women on a day such as manufactured love day!

Watch Pooh Shiesty Perform “Back In Blood” and “Guard Up” For Vevo’s ‘Ctrl’

Lontrell “Pooh Shiesty” Williams Jr. scored a Top 40 hit on the Hot 100 with “Back In Blood” featuring Lil Durk. The Memphis-Chicago collaboration remains in the Top 10 of the daily U.S. Apple Music and Spotify charts.

Vevo recently announced Pooh Shiesty as the music video network’s latest artist to take part in the Ctrl series. As part of the visual presentation, the second-generation rapper from Tennesse ran through the songs “Back In Blood” and “Guard Up.”

Lil Baby’s ‘My Turn’ Album Earns 3x-Platinum Certification

The second official studio LP from Dominique “Lil Baby” Jones was a commerical blockbuster. My Turn topped the Billboard 200 weekly chart five times and landed at #2 on the Billboard 200 Year-End album chart.

Lil Baby’s sales success led to the Recording Industry Association of America naming My Turn as the Top Album of 2020. At that time in late December, the project was only certified 2x-Platinum.

The RIAA has now awarded My Turn with 3x-Platinum certification, meaning the Quality Control release has moved more than 3 million units in the United States. QC co-founder Pierre “Pee” Thomas celebrated the accomplishment on Twitter.

My Turn hosts the singles “Woah,” “Sum 2 Prove,” “Emotionally Scarred,” “All In,” and “The Bigger Picture.” Lil Baby picked up two Grammy nominations for “The Bigger Picture” (Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance) which is also the Atlanta rapper’s highest-charting record on the Hot 100 to date.

Lil Baby released My Turn in February 2020. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 197,000 units. A deluxe edition, with an additional seven tracks, dropped in May. The album contains guest features from Gunna, 42 Dugg, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Wayne, Moneybagg Yo, Young Thug, and Rylo Rodriguez.

Lil Uzi Vert Publicly Declares His Love For JT Of The City Girls

Lil Uzi Vert and JT have been flirting with each other online for weeks. Many Hip Hop fans began wondering if the two recording artists were really together romantically, taking part in a public relations stunt, or just engaging in social media trolling.

If Uzi is only trolling, he took the jokes to another level on Sunday by informing his followers that the City Girls member was more than just a friend. The 26-year-old Philadelphia-bred rhymer tweeted, “JT is the one.”

That tweet came after a lighthearted Twitter exchange between JT and Uzi about ordering crab legs. A few hours later, Uzi returned to Twitter to add, “I had 2 be real with myself I love JT and y’all will 2.”

Lil Uzi Vert’s social media declarations of love came after alleged screenshots from his ex-girlfriend, Brittany Byrd, began circulating online. The unconfirmed text messages supposedly showed Uzi telling Bryd he is still single and wants to be with her forever.

In response to a fan tweeting about the situation, JT wrote, “Nah she left thinking he was gone chase her & he ran the other way if you so over it & free why you posting screenshots?” When another user asked the Miami native why she was allegedly having sex with a man that is said to be in a relationship, JT fired back, “Cause I can, what y’all gone do?”

If Lil Uzi Vert and JT are really dating then they join a growing list of contemporary rap stars that are now in relationships with other rappers. Cardi B and Offset, Sweetie and Quavo, and Megan Thee Stallion and Pardison Fontaine are also rapper-couples at the moment.

Swizz Beatz Reveals D’Angelo Was Supposed To Face Maxwell For ‘Verzuz’

Another Verzuz event took place this past weekend as legendary R&B/Neo-Soul singer D’Angelo hit the stage to entertain viewers watching from home. This specific show was originally billed as D’Angelo vs Friends before being renamed D’Angelo & Friends.

Unlike previous editions, there was not another artist standing across from D’Angelo to go hit-for-hit. Instead, the Brown Sugar album creator was joined by special guests like Redman, Method Man, and H.E.R. inside Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater.

There was speculation the solo format for the latest Verzuz was the result of another act deciding not to participate in the potential matchup against D’Angelo. Series co-curator, Swizz Beatz, confirmed those rumors during an Instagram Live session with his partner Timbaland.

“D’Angelo versus Maxwell on Valentine’s Day – that didn’t work out. But the fact that D’Angelo was still ready to go and still motivated, we had to celebrate him. No matter who was on stage with him,” said Swizz on Saturday. “We had to celebrate that king because, as you can see, those songs that he played tonight, that’s real music and this is a celebrational stage.”

Swizz continued, “We couldn’t play around with him. We had to let him get his garden because he showed up and showed out. That man pulled up to Verzuz three hours early. D’Angelo was the earliest person in Verzuz history tonight.”

D’Angelo & Friends included live performances of “Me And Those Dreamin’ Eyes Of Mine,” “Lady,” “Left And Right,” “Nothing Even Matters,” “Brown Sugar,” “Untitled (How Does It Feel),” and other songs from the four-time Grammy winner’s catalog. According to reports, the Instagram simultaneous viewership peaked at just 130,000 users for the showcase.

Eve & Naturi Naughton To Star In Hip-Hop-Themed Drama ‘Queens’

The self-described “Pitbull in a Skirt” is returning to the small screen as an actress. After serving as one of the hosts for The Talk on CBS for four years, Eve Cooper is set to star in a new hourlong ABC drama titled Queens.

Deadline reports Eve will be joined on the forthcoming show by Naturi Naughton. The singer-turned-actress previously played leading roles in the Notorious movie and the Power television franchise.

Queens centers around the reunion of a fictitious 1990s Hip Hop group called the Nasty B######. Both Naturi and Eve will likely pull from their real-life personal experiences for the respective roles of Jill (aka Da Thrill) and Brianna.

Eve was one of the top-selling female rappers of the late-90s, early 2000s with albums such as 1999’s Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady and 2001’s Scorpion. The Grammy-winning Philadelphia native was closely aligned with the mostly male Ruff Ryders crew.

Naughton first rose to fame as part of the R&B/Pop girl group 3LW. The trio is best known for the 2000 single “No More (Baby I’ma Do Right)” off their self-titled debut LP. After parting ways with 3LW, Naughton contributed to 2009’s Fame soundtrack.

Previously, Eve appeared in films like Barbershop, Barbershop 2: Back in Business, and Barbershop: The Next Cut. She also had her own eponymous television sitcom that ran for three seasons on UPN. Naughton is expected to continue playing Tasha St. Patrick on Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost.

Rapper T.I. And Tiny’s Lawyer Defend Them Again After Alleged Victims Come Forward In New York Times Article

A lawyer representing multiple women who claim they were victimized by rap star T.I. and his wife Tiny, has forwarded a request to authorities in two states in hopes of opening an investigation into the allegations.

According to a story in the New York Times, lawyer Tyrone A. Blackburn is representing 11 alleged victims, who claimed they were drugged raped, and kidnapped by T.I. and Tiny.

Most of the allegations stem from alleged incidents that happened in 2009 and earlier, so Blackburn hopes the investigation can be expedited to avoid the statute of limitations expiring for certain alleged crimes supposedly committed in Georgia and California.

In the article, The Times spoke to five of the alleged victims, who do not know each other – including an Air Force veteran – who claimed she was drugged and molested by the celebrity couple.

The unidentified woman said she met the pair in a club and was invited to continue partying with T.I. and Tiny. They ended up in a hotel room with other guests, who were asked to leave.

According to the Times:

The woman began to suffer the effects of whatever she’d ingested — though she’d consumed less than two drinks, the letter said. Her friend, from whom she’d been separated, never made it to the room; she was throwing up in the lobby restroom, she said in an interview.

According to the letter, Ms. Harris suggested that the military veteran “freshen up,” and brought her to the bathroom, where the woman, intoxicated and overwhelmed, allowed Ms. Harris to undress and bathe her and T.I.

By the time they got her back to the bed, all three people were naked, and the veteran began vomiting, the letter said. T.I. then “attempted to put his foot into her v#####.” She told him no, the letter said. The woman recalled T.I. laughing at her for throwing up and him leaving to retrieve condoms.

The alleged victims told The Times they were scared to come forward up until now, because of the rap star’s conviction for felony weapons possessions, and their supposed fear of retaliation.

Both T.I. and tiny have vehemently denied the allegations and separate statements.

Their lawyer Steve Sadow doubled down on their innocence in a statement to the New York Times.

“We fully expect that if these claims are thoroughly and fairly investigated, no charges will be forthcoming,” their lawyer Steve Sadow, said in a statement. “These allegations are nothing more than the continuation of a sordid shakedown campaign that began on social media and now attempts to manipulate the press and misuse the justice system.”

Jay-Z Made A Staggering Amount Of Cash In Armand de Brignac Deal

Jay-Z made headlines earlier this week when he sold half of his hit champagne brand to Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.

Jay-Z and LMVH CEO Bernard Arnault announced the rapper had sold 50% of the Armand de Brignac brand to the French conglomerate.

While the actual terms of the deal have not been disclosed, the number crunchers at Forbes came up with an estimate.

If Forbes is correct, the sale would rank as one of the biggest cash transactions by a Hip-Hop star since Dr. Dre sold off Beats Electronics to Apple.

Forbes contacted five industry experts, who believe LMVH valued Jay-Z’s company Armand de Brignac aka Ace Of Spades at a whopping $630 million. The sale of 50% of the brand would have netted Jay Z a $315 million cash payment from LMVH.

“The multiples for Armand de Brignac—based on the category and volume size of the brand—far outreach brands that don’t have that celebrity ownership,” beverage market analyst Eric Schmidt explained to Forbes.

The last time a rap mogul had such a successful exit was when Dr. Dre sold his company Beats Electronics to Apple in 2014.

According to estimates, Dr. Dre took home $585 million in cash after the transaction with Apple.

Floyd Mayweather In Bidding War With Rapper Over $2 Million Maybach

When you are Floyd Mayweather, and nicknamed “the Money Man,” you usually get what you want.

But there is one item that might be a little difficult for the champion boxer to secure … even with all his millions: a rare 2009 Maybach called The Landaulet.

According to car dealer Obi Okeke, who has one available for sale, the value of the luxury vehicle is $2,645,748.10. But that matters very little to the 50-year-old billionaire.

So what about this car is so special?

It is a “chauffeur-driven limousine” with a soft partial convertible top with V12 Twin Turbo Engine and 620 horsepower.

According to Hans-Dieter Multhaupt, the Vice President of program management for Maybach, the owner of the car can be described as “a superrich individual who wants something that is extremely extraordinary and enjoys being driven in a car with acres of sky above them.”

He likes big toys.

Sources say that Floyd is currently in a bidding war with a popular rapper for Okeke’s car. While the rapper’s name is currently unknown, one wager AllHipHop.com cares to make is that said mic rocker won’t be Birdman, Drake or DJ Khaled.

They are among the eight people in the world who already have the costly ride.

Mayweather has a fly $20 million car collection that includes a “branded Rolls-Royce Phantom” and a Bugatti (both white). Maybe his name should be “Matchbox Mayweather.”

Roger Stone Gets His Hip-Hop On With Trump-Loving Rapper Forgiato Blow

The new Republican party has gathered itself to continue to perpetuate the same old lie about Donald J. Trump winning the 2020 presidential election.

However, this time they bedded this nonsensical rhetoric to a Hip-Hop beat with Roger Stone, one of the MAGA movement’s biggest clowns, who got his b-boy on.

On Saturday, (February 27th), outside of the Conservative Political Action Conference, convicted felon and Trumpian Roger Stone did his best Scoob and Scrap Lova background dancer impersonation for a crowd of “patriots” as Trump-loving rapper Forgiato Blow spit rhymes.

As he coolly did his two-step, in his suspenders, shades, and with his hand in his pocket, Roger Stone seemed to not even care that he is still under investigation for trying to steal the election from the current Biden-Harris administration.

His best move was when he stopped his grandaddy strut and waved his double “V” hand symbol.

The song he got jamming out to celebrated the insurrectionists who raided the nation’s Capitol building on January 6th.

“Who won? Trump won. Who won? Trump won,” the wannabe rapper spit. “Patriots coming up, knocking on the Capitol.”

Hate the message and the scummy Stone ways, but his groove was way better than the off-beat bop that his boss used to do.

I know he wanted attention … but the rapper won’t get much. Instead, check out his truck that paints the 74-year-old as the 30 something Rambo.

Rappers Accuse The Game Of Swindling Them Out Of Thousands Of Bucks

The pandemic has affected everyone, and people are suffering out here in the streets. I know what you’re thinking, this is limited to the poor, disenfranchised, and people that work in a regular 9-to-5. However, that’s simply not the case. The truth is your favorite rapper is struggling as well. This manifests itself in different ways. Sometimes you see an artist selling candles. Other artists are DJing. Some artist have turn to becoming media personalities and getting jobs in other fields. But the rapper The Game is accused of swindling young aspiring artist out of thousands of dollars. I would like for you to remember that these are simply allegations and there has been no legal, criminal or civil actions levied against the one known as The Bipolar Bear.

According to a revealing Instagram post, The Game has been sliding into rappers DM‘s and telling them that he sees them working. And then it initiates contact between the two. According to this message, which is quite revealing, the rapper then solicits them to pay him $1000 or more for a feature appearance as well as a spot on his mixtape. Apparently, there is a secondary Soundcloud account that The Game employs and put the songs on THAT SoundCloud, not his verified Soundcloud account. So, the people that are paying these monies to be on this mixtape are actually only being viewed by a few hundred people, not the thousands that follow one of the best rappers on the West Coast. Needless to say, these fans are highly disappointed because they look at this as their big break and I am quite sure they don’t have money to lose.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CLvOABJs0By/

The Game has not responded to these allegations (that I know of), but it’s not looking good at the moment. The Internet is talking and a lot of them or making fun of homie. I am not sure exactly why the game would be doing some of this, but it might extend beyond the pandemic. The pandemic might have compounded his problems because if you remember he lost a lawsuit to a woman that claimed he sexually assaulted her. He maintained his innocence but ended up losing a judgment for not appearing in court to defend himself. At that point the woman has the rights to all of games monies derive from recording – his whole music catalog as well as a $7 million judgment.

The pandemic is just a cherry on top, allegedly! But the word is the game has shifted all of his assets to his manager Wack 100, who is known to be an interesting character. Ask Mysonne about that! But we love everybody over here at AllHipHop! Check out our interview with Wack. He said the game is coming with the HEAT.

AllHipHop EXCLUSIVE: Wack 100 Says Game Isn’t Retiring; He’s Dropping 30 New Songs

I know that I am broke but I have to say that owing that much money is enough to break anyone. No one knows exactly what is going on but it seems like the financial pressures of maintaining that glamorous lifestyle are hitting the game hard. I hope this is not the case! So don’t get me wrong! The game remains to be one of the most talented rappers on the West Coast and, like he recently said, he held down the West Coast for 10 years straight until folks like Kendrick Lamar came in.
