Ne-Yo’s Boxing Venture Ends With Death Of Paul Bamba

Rising professional boxing star Paul Bamba has died at age 35, just days after achieving his latest career milestone in New Jersey.

Grammy-winning R&B artist Ne-Yo, who also served as the WBA Gold titleholder’s manager, confirmed the tragic news in a statement shared on Instagram.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of beloved son, brother, friend and boxing champion Paul Bamba, whose light and love touched countless lives,” the statement read.

“He was a fierce yet confident competitor with an unrelenting ambition to achieve greatness. But more than anything, he was a tremendous individual that inspired many with his exceptional drive and determination.”

Bamba’s death marks a devastating conclusion to a career that had recently reached new heights.

On December 21, the cruiserweight champion secured the WBA Gold title, triumphing in what would be one of the final fights of his career.

He signed with Ne-Yo shortly before that bout, marking the start of a promising partnership.

In a statement at the time of his signing, Bamba expressed his optimism about the relationship.

“I’m honored to work with Ne-Yo and I’m grateful for his unwavering confidence in me. I know he has the ability to open new doors and create opportunities for me to elevate as a fighter. It’s going to be an exciting new chapter.”

On December 24, just three days after his title victory, Bamba shared a reflective post on Instagram, celebrating his year of achievements.

“This year I set out with a goal. I did just that! It wasn’t easy, there were many obstacles that I adapted to overcome and stayed on the path we set regardless of extenuating circumstances,” he wrote. “14 fights 14 knockouts ending with the WBA Gold cruiserweight world title. Blessed to have my family, my team and all my supporters along the way.”

Details surrounding the cause of Bamba’s death have not yet been disclosed.

#MAGACultMorons Trends As Republican In-Fighting Heats Up

A MAGA civil war is brewing following the re-election of Donald Trump. On Sunday (December 29), the hashtag #MAGACultMorons became a trending Twitter (X) topic as more and more Republicans are coming to terms with their potentially terrible choice for president.

More specifically, Elon Musk is advocating for the expansion and reform of the H-1B visa program to enable U.S. companies, particularly in the technology sector, to hire highly skilled foreign workers from India more efficiently. He argues that attracting top international talent is essential for maintaining America’s competitive edge in technology and innovation.

Musk, an immigrant himself, believes that the current U.S. immigration system is “super slow & extremely difficult to navigate” and supports increasing and expediting legal immigration for hardworking and honest individuals who love America.

Trump has recently expressed support for the H-1B program, stating, “I’ve always liked the visas, I have always been in favour of the visas. That’s why we have them.”

Musk’s position has sparked debates among Trump’s base, with some critics arguing that the H-1B program undercuts American workers. In response, Musk has proposed reforms to the program, such as raising the minimum salary and adding yearly maintenance costs for H-1B visas, to address concerns about misuse and to ensure it serves its intended purpose of attracting top-tier talent.

But an Indian man named Sidharth sparked a debate after he tweeted, “I’m deeply questioning my decision to support the Republican party after witnessing the persistent and dehumanizing attacks directed at me and my community by individuals who, despite hiding behind a vaneer of respectability, openly harbor and amplify racist ideologies.”

People replied with comments like, “It was cool, when the wrath was at Black folks!!! Now that the scope pointed at them, he has reservations” and “we tried to warn you.” Other people said things like, “Some light-skinned Latinos are going to get that same Wake Up call….soon!” and “When FAFO (f### around and find out) becomes a reality!”

And the memes, of course, were plentiful.

Trump is expected to take office in January 2025. Until then, the in-fighting between Republicans will likely continue. For the uninitiated, the MAGA civil war refers to ideological and political disagreements within the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement.

While MAGA has traditionally been united around Trump’s policies and leadership, splits have emerged on various issues, including immigration, foreign policy and trade.

Some MAGA supporters favor stricter immigration controls, opposing programs like the H-1B visa. Others, including Trump in recent statements, have supported skilled immigration, seeing it as essential for economic growth. Other disagreements about the balance between protectionism and globalization have also divided the movement. Some favor prioritizing American workers over any form of international labor.

YSL Defendant Sues Over Hellish Conditions Inside Fulton County Jail

A former defendant in Atlanta’s high-profile Young Slime Life gang conspiracy trial with Young Thug is accusing jail officials of widespread neglect and unconstitutional treatment.

After a lengthy trial, Shannon Stillwell was found guilty on only one charge: possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to 10 years, but the judge commuted the sentence to credit for time served, with the balance to be served on probation.

But now Stillwell, alongside former detainee Nkenegen Hambrick, has filed a federal class-action lawsuit against Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat and Chief Jailer John Jackson.

The pair claim the conditions at the Fulton County Jail are both inhumane and life-threatening. The lawsuit paints a grim picture of life within the jail’s deteriorating walls.

In their filing, the plaintiffs describe overcrowding, decaying infrastructure, unsanitary conditions, and unchecked violence.

Allegations of vermin infestations, insufficient medical care, and security lapses further expose what they call a “blatant disregard” for inmates’ Eighth and 14th Amendment rights.

The allegations are disturbingly detailed.

Stillwell, who was stabbed twice while awaiting trial, claims those attacks stemmed from broken cell doors and an absence of security officers.

Hambrick describes similarly harrowing experiences, alleging that the facility’s unhygienic conditions led to untreated infections after he sustained 20 stab wounds during his time at the jail in 2023.

In fact, there have been 12 stabbings at the Fulton County Jail since June 2024, highlighting ongoing security issues and violence among inmates.

“The Fulton County Jail’s management has not taken adequate steps to prevent violence, leaving detainees at constant risk of harm. We are seeking immediate reforms to ensure no more lives are endangered within these walls,” said attorney Michael Harper, who filed the suit on behalf of Stillwell and Hambrick.

The chaos within the jail, according to the lawsuit, is exacerbated by insufficient separation of inmates based on gang affiliations or threat levels, fostering an environment where violence thrives.

The legal filing arrives on the heels of a U.S. Department of Justice report condemning the Fulton County Jail, citing constitutional failings in its management and facilities.

“The Justice Department’s report concluded that Fulton County and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office allowed unsafe and unsanitary conditions at the Jail. As a result, people incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail suffered harms from pest infestation and malnourishment and were put at substantial risk of serious harm from violence by other incarcerated people — including homicides, stabbings and sexual abuse,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland. “The unconstitutional and unlawful conditions at the Fulton County Jail have persisted for far too long, and we are committed to working with Fulton County and the Fulton County Sherrif’s office to remedy them.”

The lawsuit now places Fulton County’s jail management practices under the scrutiny of the federal court system.

Damon Dash Compares “Ruthless” JAY-Z To Infamous Movie Villain

Damon Dash has reignited his longstanding grievances against JAY-Z, calling out the Hip-Hop mogul for what he claims has been a years-long pattern of interference in his business moves.

Speaking during an interview on The Art of Dialogue, Dash didn’t hold back in describing what he perceives as calculated efforts by his former Roc-A-Fella Records partner to derail his financial success.

“Unless he’s [messing] my money up, I don’t give a [expletive] what JAY’s doing,” Dash said. “But when he’s [messing] with my money, that’s when I be like, ‘You know what? Enough is enough.'”

Dash cited specific incidents, including a 2005 business deal tied to Rocawear, the fashion label he co-founded with JAY-Z.

According to Dash, a $400 million agreement with Tommy Hilfiger fell apart after JAY-Z publicly promoted his S. Carter brand and distanced himself from Rocawear.

“Right before Tommy Hilfiger signs the papers, [JAY-Z] makes an announcement saying he’s not with Rocawear, that he’s only [messing] with S. Carter,” Dash explained. “F##### the whole [deal] up and I just feel like he did that only because I was gonna make $40 million.”

While JAY-Z later sold Rocawear to Iconix Brand Group in 2007 for $204 million—the brand was generating over $700 million in annual retail sales at the time—Dash had already walked away with $22.5 million after selling his stake back to his business partners in 2005.

Despite this payout, Dash alleged that JAY-Z has repeatedly disrupted his ventures.

“Every time I could have made a really big check, he’s always stepped in and intentionally f##### it up,” he remarked. “Everytime.”

When describing JAY-Z’s behavior, Dash offered a dramatic comparison to a Batman villain, saying, “If you could compare him to a character now, I’d say he’s like the Penguin. He’s ruthless like that…”

Damon Dash also pushed back against the perception that he volunteers commentary about JAY-Z, blaming media narratives for placing him in discussions about their fractured relationship.

“They make it like I just volunteered to start talking about [JAY-Z], but people are really asking me questions about him,” he said. “If everybody doesn’t want to hear me talk about JAY, why the [expletive] do people keep asking me questions about him?”

Despite his frustration, Dash maintained that he’s moved on from what he referred to as “the block” but said JAY-Z’s alleged attempts at sabotage have left a lasting mark.

As he put it, “I already walked away from the block. Leave me the [expletive] alone.”

“Cosby Show” Actor Condemned For Donating $25K Nicki Minaj Gifted Him After Viral Trader Joe’s Video

Actor Geoffrey Owens had a viral moment in 2018 after he was photographed working at Trader Joe’s, a far cry from his previous job in Hollywood.

Owens, who played Elvin Tibideaux on The Cosby Show for years, sparked a media frenzy, with some ridiculing the actor for holding a retail job after years in the spotlight. The viral moment quickly turned into a broader discussion about the dignity of work, unpredictability of acting careers and often harsh realities of life in the entertainment industry.

Like numerous others, Nicki Minaj was moved by Owens’ story and decided to donate $25,000 to him in an effort to help. During a recent interview with Atlanta radio station V-103, Owens revealed he actually donated the money to the Actor’s Fund in honor of the late Earle Hyman, who played Cliff Huxtable’s father on The Cosby Show.

“At the time, it seemed like the right thing to do,” Owens said. “If Nicki Minaj had hired me for a project and paid me $25,000, I would have thanked her for the work. But this felt different.”

Owens continued, “I struggle every day to make my ends meet. People can’t get their heads around that because they see me in movies…People have the impression, ‘Well, you’re making a lot of money, what’s the problem? Why would you have financial troubles?’ They don’t understand the specifics of how my industry works.”

At one point, he referred to Minaj’s gesture as a “handout,” which led to more scrutiny online.

“Confusing a blessing with a handout is very prideful,” one person wrote, while another said, “Bruh! Nicki Minaj was showing appreciation to your contribution to the arts! YOU DID THE WORK! You are a part of peoples childhood…ego will spin a good deed into all kinds of awkward directions.”

Other comments like “If blocking your blessings was a person” and “I respect the mans work ethic, but if you receive a blessing, drop the ego & be open to accept it . That was VERY kind of her to do” appeared to make up the general consensus.

At the time of the photo, Owens addressed the situation with grace and humility, explaining that he took the job at Trader Joe’s to support his family between acting gigs. In interviews, he emphasized that no job is beneath anyone and highlighted the challenges faced by working actors, who often juggle multiple roles to make ends meet. His candidness struck a chord with many, shifting the narrative from mockery to admiration.

Fellow actors and fans rallied around him, praising his work ethic and pointing out that pursuing one’s passion sometimes requires unconventional choices.

The viral moment ultimately proved to be a turning point for Owens. It reignited interest in his acting career, leading to offers from major producers, including Tyler Perry, who cast him in a recurring role on The Haves and the Have Nots.

Owens’ story became a powerful reminder that every job has value, and it shed light on the resilience required to navigate the ups and downs of an acting career while maintaining one’s dignity and self-respect. Even so, people aren’t impressed by the donation to charity, with some pointing out that he was “the charity.”

Pitbull Optimistic About 2025

Pitbull took center stage in Times Square to help put the final touches on the famed New Year’s Eve ball, turning a routine preparation into one of his signature celebrations.

Standing alongside the massive, brightly lit sphere, the Miami-born rapper offered a deeply personal reflection on perseverance and success, tying his life story to the global tradition that draws billions of viewers annually.

“I used to be that little kid that used to clean houses with my mother,” Pitbull said, addressing the crowd gathered for the unveiling. “And to be here to represent a product that’s going to represent all the underdogs… the unsung heroes.”

The 12-foot-wide, six-ton ball, cloaked in 2,688 Waterford crystal triangles and illuminated by over 32,000 LED lights, serves as both a symbol and a spectacle.

More than just an icon of celebration, the ball exemplifies resilience and renewal, themes Pitbull embraced as he spoke with optimism about the year ahead.

“We’re here to just let them know and let everybody know—why dream when you can live it? 2025 is all the way live,” he declared energetically, urging individuals to seize the moment and welcome the promises of a new year.

Even Pitbull took a moment to reflect on how far he has come since his humble beginnings.

“To be here today is something I never imagined,” he said.

Times Square’s annual festivities, the epicenter of global New Year’s Eve celebrations, will feature performances by stars like Carrie Underwood, the Jonas Brothers, TLC, and Megan Moroney.

As the countdown begins, millions in New York City and over a billion viewers worldwide will tune in, marking the start of 2025 with music, cheers, and the ball’s glittering descent.

Drake Invited Nelly Furtado Onstage But She Declined—Here’s Why

Nelly Furtado is angling to collaborate with Drake, citing their shared Canadian roots.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter has recently returned to the music industry after a lengthy break, releasing her seventh studio album, 7, in September.

Speaking on the Call Her Daddy podcast hosted by Alex Cooper, Furtado revealed her ultimate dream collaborator when asked to name one.

“I still think it would be cool to have a song with Drake. I think people would love that,” Furtado said during the interview. “Because we’re both Canadian. Toronto lore, you know? I think it would be really good.”

Drake, a global icon in Hip-Hop and pop, apparently feels similarly about Furtado. She recalled a moment when he invited her to join him onstage during a performance in Toronto.

However, the timing proved a challenge.

“He asked me at 11 p.m. to show up at 1 a.m.,” Furtado, 45, explained with a laugh. “I love him to death, but I was like, ‘I’m not showing up without glam.’ Because, of course, he’s so famous, it will be everywhere. I couldn’t make it that time, but anyways, I love him a lot. He’s a great guy. He really put Toronto on the map in a different kind of way and Canada in general.”

Furtado also admitted to revisiting footage of the event—a moment Drake shone in a striking yellow tracksuit.

She shared her musings on what she might have worn had she been there.

“I’m like, ‘What would I have worn? Pink?’ Because then it would have been all videos of all yellow and you know, what color? That’s what performers do, you always think about what things pop. Especially in pop music,” she added.

Drake has yet to reply.

2024: One Year Of Exciting, Horrific Reveals (Part 2)

The rate of mind-blowing, earth-shattering happenings seemed to become more extreme in all areas in the latter half of 2024. From Kendrick Lamar and Drake to Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the last six months of the year grabbed us by the neck and didn’t let up.

The Broadening of Presidential Powers

On July 1, the United States Supreme Court, which is now peppered with conservative judges, ruled that a president has immunity for official acts that would otherwise land the common American citizen in prison.

The six GOP majority ruled that a president has “presumptive immunity from criminal prosecution” for any actions related to his official duties in a 6-3 decision authored by Chief Justice John Roberts.

It was then that most realized that the political Jux was in.

Run, Kamala, Run

Also on July 1, Vice President Kamala Harris became the first Black woman and first Asian woman to be nominated as the Democratic candidate for President of the United States after President Joe Biden announced he wouldn’t seek a second term.

The Big Miss: Trump Survives Assassination Attempt

An assassination was made on the life of President-elect Donald J. Trump as he campaigned in Butler, Pennsylvania at the Butler Farm Show Grounds on July 13. The president’s right ear was visibly bloodied. An audience member was killed as well as the shooter-21-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Drake Lyrically Emasculated as Young Money Looks Goofy

The roiling, rancorous rumblings that personified the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake coalesced into an event horizon that captivated the attention of Hip-Hop media and enthusiasts.

Basking in the glory of the ongoing curb stomping of the alleged “6 God,” Kendrick Lamar’s victory lap might as well be an orbit around the sun. The September 8 announcement of his being named the halftime performer at the upcoming Super Bowl in New Orleans. 2025 has a lot of used-to-be rap superstars looking bad. The Young Money conglomerate of Lil’ Wayne, Nikki Minaj, and Birdman, is catching strays for being obtuse, as they defend Drake.

The Diddler Got Knocked

Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested on September 16 and charged by the Justice Department with having a years-long scheme to abuse and exploit women and that he used his business to commit crimes, which is a RICO charge. Combs pleaded not guilty the next day. Sean Combs has been denied bail three times and is considered a flight risk and has been accused of witness tampering.

Quincy Jones Becomes an Ancestor

Legendary composer and all-around GOAT Quincy Jones became an ancestor on November 3. He was 91 years old. His feats are too numerous to name on such a humble platitude.    A titan in jazz, pop, R&B, Bop, Soul, Big Band, and much more.  But his contributions to Hip-Hop are many.

Nas, Kanye, Mobb Deep, De La Soul, MC Lyte, Tupac Shakur, the Pharcyde and many others used sweet licks sampled from music composed by Quincy Jones to craft what is arguably their best works.  His passing punctuates an era where giants once tread. True giants of mammoth talent, charm, humility and charisma.

King Trump

Donald J. Trump won the election to become the 46th president of the United States. America has spoken and, in the process, revealed just how resoundingly stupid it is.

The Saga Continues for Kendrick versus Drake Beef, King Kenny Drops GNX

On November 22, Kendrick Lamar formally yoked up Hip-Hop with the release of GNX, his sixth studio album.

Three days later, on November 25, Drake filed a motion accusing UMG and Spotify of using bots and payola to artificially inflate “Not Like Us” streams, which he claims left him looking bad in the public eye.

Speaking of looking bad, Drake continued his legal onslaught on November 26, 2025, as he filed a second motion against UMG, citing defamation on “Not Like Us,” where he’s called a “certified pedophile” and “predator.”  For a little context, Drake signed a deal with UMG worth around $400 million. So, yeah, awkward.

Luigi Wit’ Da Blicky!

On December 4, the year that has already proven itself to be bugged TF out proved itself even more bugged than anyone could have imagined. UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was gunned down by an assailant in front of the New York Hilton Midtown in New York City. Details of shell casing with the words “Delay,” “Deny” and “Depose” on each shell.

As the shooter fled, a swell of support exploded everywhere.  y the time Luigi Mangione was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania on December 9 he was already a full-fledged folk hero.

“I’m Not Black, I’m Jigga Man…”

JAY-Z has dodged accusations of Illuminati affiliation, survived a battle with Nas, and a decades old paternity case, and he has only gotten richer in response.

But on December 8, a 37-year-old woman filed a lawsuit in New York alleging Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs raped her in 2000 when she was 13 years old. The lawsuit was filed by attorney Anthony Buzbee, the lawyer for over 200 individuals who claim to have been sexually assaulted by Sean Combs.

Carter would return legal fire the following day in a multi-document response 236 pages in length in which his legal team revealed JAY-Z was the anonymous celebrity who fired off an extortion lawsuit against Buzbee in Los Angeles on November 13.

2024 was a wild year in every way. In every aspect of our collective society. It spoke to issues of gender with the nomination of Kamala Harris and America’s reaction to that, it spoke of delayed justice with the arrest of previously untouchable Hip-Hop mogul Diddy but true Hip-Hop endured through it all as Kendrick Lamar’s victory lap suggests.

We also witnessed the birth of a star as Doechii exploded onto the scene with an original flow that was authentic, playful, and powerfully feminine. 2024 could also be defined by the legal system as President-elect Trump, Diddy, JAY-Z and Drake have learned of its reach or impudence, depending on the perspectives of the plaintiff or defendant.

OG Maco’s Family Speaks Out Following Atlanta Rapper’s Suicide

OG Maco—real name Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr.—passed away on December 26 after roughly two weeks on life support at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

As confirmed to AllHipHop by his day-to-day manager, Poppa Perc, Maco died after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. On Saturday (December 28), OG Maco’s family issued a statement via Instagram, mourning their immense loss.

“With heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Ben, known to the world as OG Maco,” the post begins. “His life was a testament to resilience, creativity and boundless love. Through his music, passion, and unwavering spirit, he touched so many lives and left a lasting impact.

“While we grieve this immense loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived—one that will continue to inspire and uplift others. Maco’s influence, both as an artist and as a person, will remain forever etched in our hearts.”

The family also opened OG Maco’s direct messages to anyone who wants to share a memory or connect with them. They ended the post by thanking everyone who showed their support for him.

First responders were called to OG Maco’s home on the morning of December 12 after a neighbor heard a gunshot.

“I thought he was dead when I first saw him,” his manager told AllHipHop at the time. “We were about rebrand and drop [new music] under a whole new alias. We need everyone’s prayers.”

The OG Maco team did its best to swat down the ensuing death rumors, but people persisted. One person wrote, “This breaks my heart so much. May u rest in heaven. Thank you for being my first ever friend in Atlanta. For believing in my music before anyone else and for the friendship we shared through out the years. you will never be forgotten,” while another said, “Rest in peace bro, you’re a real legend and pioneer in the game, paved the way for a lot of the industry.”

DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia removed his tribute post once he was told he was still alive and later commented, “Praying for you however you’re doing.” He has yet to comment on OG Maco’s death.

Punch Celebrates SZA’s Return To No. 1—Fans Accuse Him Of Pulling Publicity Stunt

Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence “Punch” Henderson and TDE artist SZA confused fans earlier this week when they appeared to part ways.

But on Friday (December 27), Punch showed his support for the chart-topping singer by re-sharing a Twitter (X) post about the success of SZA’s new album, SOS Deluxe: Lana.

The post read: “SZA’s ‘SOS’ to return to #1 on the Billboard 200 with 170K units projected (up 293% in activity following the release of the deluxe; via @HITSDD).” He added several prayer emojis and a smiley face.

Several fans quickly hopped in the comment section to accuse Punch and SZA of pulling a publicity stunt in an attempt to garner more attention for the album.

“Was it just a joke then—like a publicity stunt or something?” one person wrote, while another asked, “can u stop being weird..sza already said u parted ways.”

Punch, however, has updated his Twitter (X) bio to include “I manage SZA.”

As indicated by the title, SOS Deluxe: Lana is simply an expanded version of 2022’s Grammy Award-winning SOS.

According to HITS Daily Double, the 15-track project—which includes outtakes from the SOS era or, as SZA has described it, the “B-side” to SOS—is projected to move 170,707 units in its inaugural week, with more than 8,400 units coming from pure album sales.

The original SOS featured guest appearances from Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott and Ol’ Dirty Bastard and production from the likes of Babyface, Benny Blanco and Lizzo, among others.

SZA released six singles in support of the project, five of which were Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

The fifth, “Kill Bill,” became SZA’s first song to top the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200 charts; the sixth, “Snooze,” was the only song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 for all of 2023. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200—another first for SZA—and broke the record for the largest streaming week for an R&B album in the United States.

As for TDE, the independent label lost its biggest artist, Kendrick Lamar, in 2022 following the release of Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. His latest album, GNX, arrived via pgLang and Interscope on November 22. SZA will serve as support on Lamar’s upcoming Grand National Tour, which kicks off in April 2025.

NBA YoungBoy’s Mom Frustrated Over Inability To Work Due To Son’s Fans

NBA YoungBoy’s mother, Sherhonda Gaulden, recently opened up about her struggles with not being able to work.

Gaulden revealed the root of her issues with employment are mainly due to her son’s status as one of the top mainstream rappers—despite his incarceration. She explained that while she doesn’t chase money, in an obsessive sort of manner, it is frustrating for her to be in such a predicament even though she’s yearning to find a job. In a heartfelt and candid moment during her livestream she explained why returning to a regular job isn’t a realistic option for her.

“You rich,” someone remarked during her discussion, but Sherhonda quickly corrected them. “Baby, I ain’t rich,” she said. “My child rich. My child do.”

Despite her son’s wealth, Sherhonda insisted that money isn’t what she values most.

“I’m not no money person,” she said. “I don’t care about money. All I want is my bills paid. That’s all I want.”

As she continued, Gaulden also emphasized that she doesn’t expect lavish gifts or extravagant gestures.

“I don’t ask for no jewelry,” she said. “I don’t ask for no cars. I don’t ask for money for trips. I don’t ask for nothing. I put that on my life.”

What she does want, however, is the opportunity to support herself on her own again.

“I want a job,” she said passionately. “I swear to God, I wish I could work. I miss work so bad. On my mom, I wish I could work. That sh#t making me mad. I want to work so bad.”

But Gaulden also revealed the harsh reality of her situation.

“Why I can’t work?” she asked rhetorically. “You want me to get shot in my face at a job? The f#ck is wrong with you?”

She continued, elaborating on the risks and dangers she faces due to her connection to her son.

“Everywhere I go, people know me,” she said. “Like people know me everywhere I go.”

Meanwhile, her son NBA YoungBoy is currently serving a 27-month prison sentence in connection to his fraud case in Utah.

Kanye West’s Cryptic Instagram Voice Memo Sends Fans Over The Edge

Kanye West made a rare Instagram appearance in the wee hours of Saturday (December 28) morning, leaving a cryptic voice memo for his 20.3 million followers. The message?

“You know that s### is hosed down,” he said. “You know that s### mopped, that s### scrubbed.” Of course, Kanye West being Kanye West, people got a kick out of it and immediately hopped on social media to laugh about his latest antics.

“Me after I clean my kitchen,” one person wrote. Another said, ” like when he just reappears rubs hands,” while yet another remarked, “I’m ABSOLUTELY saying this to anything I don’t like at least for the next six months.”

Others assumed it was a sign he’s about to release new music, and multiple people thought it was a reaction to ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s new “Santa Baby” video. As person said, “He doesn’t like Kim’s Santa video, I heard! SMH.”

Whatever the case, fans of Kanye West are calling it “provocative.”

Kanye West is under scrutiny once again for different reasons. As Jewish communities around the world mark the celebration of Hanukkah, Yeezy’s new clothing line features imagery reminiscent of Nazi symbolism.

The collection includes t-shirts, hoodies and jackets priced at $20 a piece, adorned with minimalist designs and Russian text. The presence of a logo resembling the Wolfsangel, a Nazi-linked symbol, has sparked outrage, reigniting accusations that West is purposefully perpetuating white supremacist and neo-Nazi ideologies.

Some people on social media were quick to condemn the designs, especially given his history of antisemitic public statements.

The controversy began in October 2022, when West posted a tweet declaring he would go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE” and compounded the fallout by asserting that Black people are the “real Jews.”

The situation deteriorated further in December 2022 during an incendiary appearance on InfoWars, where Kanye praised Adolf Hitler, denied the Holocaust and shared a s####### entwined with a Star of David on social media.

Lil Yachty Articulates His Hatred For Dating Broke Women In Scathing & Direct Rant

Lil Yachty isn’t mincing words when it comes to his dating preferences.

In a recent interview, the Concrete Boys founder revealed his disdain for broke women, citing their immaturity and lack of understanding as major turn-offs. The candid comments were apart of his surprising rapid-fire response to his dating icks’, which quickly set the internet abuzz.

“I don’t like broke women,” Lil Yachty declared right out of the gate.

As he continued though, he seemingly recealed himself as being fairly inexperienced with that particular variety of women. However, regardless of his level of affinity with courting them, he’s sure they aren’t worth his time — no pun intended.

“I haven’t been with a lot of them,” he said. “And they suck.”

When pressed on why he feels this way, the “Tesla” rapper didn’t hold back.

“Usually they’re very immature,” he explained. “Broke girls are, yeah, like usually extremely immature.”

Yachty also pointed to a lack of understanding as a recurring issue he’s encountered.

“They just aren’t very understanding of things,” he said. “Like if you have to work or if you have to be here, or just certain things. They’re very non-understanding.”

Lil Boat then delved into the distinction between being broke and simply not caring.

While Yachty acknowledged that being broke isn’t inherently a problem, he drew a hard line when it comes to a lack of ambition.

“It’s okay to not be rich,” he said. “That is perfectly fine. But like when you do nothing, you just sit around waiting, either for someone to do something for you or you just don’t care at all. You’re just like a slob. I don’t have no respect for you.”

While it’s not at all wrong for Lil Yachty to be reluctant to date down, given his status, his overall dating history also suggests he just may not be the most selfless partner. Mariah the Scientist recently broke her silence and spoke about her relationship with Lil Boat during her appearance on Caresha Please last October. Not only did the singer confirm she dated Lil Yachty, but she revealed was “broke” when they were together and appeared to suggest he was seemingly unappreciative of her gifts and her talent.

“We dated,” she said. “I [actually] met him in high school, but by the time I got to college we started dating a little bit. I was just a broke college student.”

She continued, remarking on the time she attempted to deliver a heartfelt gift to him, but it backfired on her due to his reaction.

Jamie Foxx Prepping Legal War Against Odd Future Member Over Glass Throwing Incident

Jamie Foxx is gearing up for a legal battle with a founding member of rap collective Odd Future following an altercation at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills that turned his 57th birthday celebration into a scene of chaos.

The Academy Award-winning actor and musician was struck in the mouth by a glass allegedly thrown by Davon Lamar Wilson, better known as Jasper Dolphin.

In addition to his role with Odd Future, Jasper Dolphin is also an actor and a stuntman for the Jackass franchise.

The incident, now the subject of an ongoing Los Angeles Police Department investigation, occurred on December 13 during Foxx’s private dinner with family and friends.

Upstairs, the Jackass team was celebrating their annual holiday gathering.

According to sources, tensions flared after someone from the upstairs group allegedly shone a penis-shaped laser pointer at Foxx’s table, prompting the entertainer to confront them.

Heated words quickly gave way to physical action, with a glass reportedly thrown from the direction of the Jackass group, striking Jamie Foxx in the face and causing injuries requiring stitches.

Police initially classified the episode as an assault with a deadly weapon but later reclassified it as a physical altercation.

Jamie Foxx, who has remained relatively “tight-lipped” about the confrontation, took to Instagram two days later, sharing a cryptic yet defiant message: “The devil is a lie. Can’t win here—thank you to everybody that pray and check on me. When your light is shining bright—they try to bring you darkness—but they don’t know that you’re built for it—the lights have been shining bright.”

The entertainer is reportedly working closely with local authorities as they continue their investigation and has plans to file a lawsuit against the alleged assailant.

Charges have not yet been filed, and police have not officially named any suspects.

EXCLUSIVE: Damon Dash Facing More Financial Turmoil—Movies Could Hit Auction Block

Damon Dash is grappling with the possibility of more assets being auctioned off to satisfy mounting debts.

A recent court-ordered sale of his one-third ownership stake in Roc-A-Fella Records fetched $1 million at a federal auction in Manhattan, but the proceeds fell short of addressing his sprawling financial obligations.

Dame’s foray into the legal quagmire traces back to a defamation and copyright infringement lawsuit brought by plaintiffs Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures.

The filmmaker and production company secured judgments totaling $823,284.71 after alleging unpaid debts tied to Damon’s attempt to hijack the film “Dear Frank.”

His stake in Roc-A-Fella was put on the auction block to satisfy this judgment, $193,000 in back child support, a lawsuit filed by photographer Monique Bunn, another by a writer named Edwyna Brooks and a massive $8 million tax debt to the state of New York.

Although the minimum bid for the Roc-A-Fella sale was $1.2 million, New York State acquired Dash’s shares for $1 million using a creditor bid.

From that sum, New York City received $193,877.57 in back child support, while New York State allocated $1,702,626.34 toward Damon Dash’s outstanding taxes.

This left Webber and Muddy Water Pictures—initially owed the $823,284.71 judgment with interest—without settlement, alongside other creditors still awaiting payments.

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, Damon Dash could soon see other valuable personal property, including his Poppington business and copyrights tied to films he produced, put on the auction block.

Webber and lawyer Christopher Brown are seeking ownership documents from Damon Dash and an order forcing him to deliver them to the United States Marshal.

If Poppington cannot be sold, Brown is asking a judge for permission to sell movies like “We Went to… China,” “Welcome to Blackroc” and “Honor Up,” which was executive produced by Kanye West.

These assets are integral to Poppington LLC, Dash’s media company and air on his television network, America Nu.

Should additional works go to auction, creditors may face the same challenges of competing for limited proceeds with higher-priority claims, such as the rest of the unpaid state taxes.

Tory Lanez Fights Megan Thee Stallion Over “Abuse” Of Legal System

Tory Lanez might be serving a decade-long prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, but he is still embroiled in a legal battle for allegedly harassing the Grammy-winning rapper.

Megan has accused Tory Lanez of orchestrating targeted attacks against her from behind bars via third-party associates, prompting her to file for a restraining order last week.

Megan Thee Stallion filed the request on December 17, alleging that Lanez enlisted bloggers and others to spread falsehoods about her, which she described as causing “severe emotional distress” and tarnishing her reputation.

In her request, Megan said Tory Lanez was engaging in “psychological warfare” and that she “sometimes wishes Tory would have shot and killed me, if I would have known I was going to go through this torture.”

Tory Lanez, however, has denied the allegations, labeling her claims as baseless and an attempt to manipulate legal processes.

In the latest legal wrangling between the two rappers, the legal team for Lanez replied to Megan, accusing Megan of “weaponizing the justice system.”

“When celebrity with millions of dollars and backed by large corporation disagrees with free speech or opinions, they weaponize the justice system, failing to understand that they are public figures, who voluntarily catapulted themselves into the limelight, unable to deal with the controversy and public opinions,” according to the filing.

They further allege Megan’s request aims to silence opinions rather than engage in public discourse.

This latest legal clash revisits the tensions stemming from a July 2020 incident in which Megan accused Lanez of shooting her in the feet following an argument as they left a Hollywood party hosted by Kylie Jenner.

Initially reluctant to come forward, Megan later publicly identified Lanez as the shooter. He was convicted in December 2022 on three felony counts, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and sentenced in August 2023.

Despite their acrimonious history, Tory Lanez’s attorneys fired back by insisting their client is “no longer a threat” and has had no direct contact with Megan since his conviction.

The court will address the restraining order on January 9, 2025.

Kanye West Caught In Another Antisemitic Controversy As Jews Celebrate Hanukkah

Exactly one year after Kanye West apologized in Hebrew for antisemitic remarks, the rapper, who prefers to go by Ye, is embroiled in controversy once again.

As Jewish communities around the world mark the celebration of Hanukkah, Kanye has come under fire for the release of a new Yeezy clothing line, which critics allege features imagery reminiscent of Nazi symbolism.

The collection, launched on December 26, includes affordable T-shirts, hoodies and jackets priced at $20 apiece, adorned with minimalist designs and Russian text.

However, it’s the presence of a logo resembling the Wolfsangel, a Nazi-linked symbol, that has sparked outrage. The design choice has reignited accusations that West is deliberately perpetuating white supremacist and neo-Nazi ideologies.

Some people on social media were quick to condemn the designs, especially given his history of antisemitic public statements.

The backlash is an echo of events that began in October 2022, when Kanye posted a tweet declaring he would go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE” and compounded the fallout by asserting that Black people are the “real Jews.”

The situation deteriorated further in December 2022 during an incendiary appearance on InfoWars, where Kanye praised Adolf Hitler, denied the Holocaust and shared a s####### entwined with a Star of David on social media.

For a brief moment in December 2023, West seemed to acknowledge the harm caused by his actions, issuing a rare apology in Hebrew.

The fallout from his actions has extended well beyond public outrage.

adidas, which collaborated with West on the multi-billion-dollar Yeezy brand, severed ties with him in October 2022, citing a violation of their core values.

The partnership’s termination immediately cost the company an estimated $250 million, placing his finances under significant strain and reducing his billionaire status to a net worth of around $400 million.

The timing of the current controversy, coinciding with the eight-day festival of Hanukkah, has only deepened the sense of hurt among many in the Jewish community.

J.I.D Explains How J. Cole Elevated His Lyrical Ability & Why He Thinks Battle Rappers Are King

J.I.D just revealed the appreciation he has for both battle rappers and his big homie J. Cole in one fell-swoop in a new interview.

Dreamville’s lyrical powerhouse recently stopped by Way Up with Angela Yee, where he opened up about how label founder J. Cole helped elevate his craft and shared his high regard for battle rappers, who he thinks are at the top of the lyrical food chain.

The candid interview shed light on the creative process behind J.I.D’s razor-sharp rhymes and his love for the art of freestyle. J.I.D kicked things off speaking about how his dedication to honing his skills has led him to experimenting with different writing techniques, including cutting at least 30 freestyles.

“I learned this from Cole,” J.I.D said, crediting the Dreamville mastermind for his relentless work ethic. “Maybe it’s like one of the things he told me, always like trying to perfect your craft. So I learned this years ago. I’m just trying to knock it out like a song, like just don’t stop. Don’t think, just line for line. If you got the next line, just go into it and then pick up from there.”

Reflecting on his journey, J.I.D revealed how Cole’s advice encouraged him to dive deeper into the creative process. Instead of overthinking, he’s embraced a more spontaneous and fluid approach to songwriting.

“This is just more of a practice,” he explained. “Repetition, trying it. Whatever way I can just get it done.”

The Atlanta-bred rapper also shared his admiration for battle rappers, whom he described as “the best rappers on earth.” He fondly reminisced about the Smack DVD era, a cornerstone of the battle rap scene.

“Straight up,” he emphasized. “Those ones, oh my god. That’s how I started it.”

J.I.D’s passion for the raw, competitive nature of battle rap shines through as he hinted at his confidence to compete in such arenas. “It’s a whole list of folks I could eat up for that,” he quipped.

When asked about his recent flurry of freestyles, J.I.D revealed he’s been keeping busy with back-to-back recordings and laid out his plans to release the 30 freestyles he’s crafted so far.

“I’m put them out, the ones I did before 30,” he explained. “The ones I did before wasn’t as good. It was just practice, like I was saying, so I probably won’t do nothing with them. But I’m gonna just keep going. When this one hit like a million views on YouTube, I’m just drop another one.”

In case you missed it, J.I.D started the year last January with his “30 (Freestyle)” which saw him receive rave reviews from his fellow rap peers such as Russ and his Dreamville labelmate Cozz.

2024: One Year Of Exciting & Horrific Reveals (Part 1)

We had more big reveals than a Tolkien thriller just in the first half of 2024.

One explosive revelation after another wracked the consciences of many Americans. Much of it has been entertaining fodder for memes, podcasts and urban-flavored gossip rags.

Although we can’t help laughing at the audacious and dramatic nature of these happenings, some of them could shape our society for decades to come.

A question that lingered at the top of the year was: “Can a convicted felon be president of the United States?” We got our answer, resoundingly. We also witnessed the toppling of a Hip-Hop, business, fashion, and communications empire through the perceived unmasking of icon Sean “Diddy” Combs.  Everything hit us like a gravelly snowball from there on.

Exciting

Is The Kendrick Lamar Vs. Drake The Greatest Battle of All-Time? Perhaps.

Some believe it was one of the greatest rap battles of all time, a clash of titans that has been more than a decade in the making. Drake and Kendrick Lamar first collaborated on Drake’s “Take Care.” Kendrick has been using lyrics as precision munitions on Big Sean’s “Control” and in the BET Awards Cypher.

A back-and-forth “cold war” of sorts spanned years but nothing significant really happened. That all changed when Drake and J. Cole appeared on “First Person Shooter” together.  Cole’s bars weren’t a diss, but many believed they were the catalyst for Kendrick Lamar’s awakening.

Kendrick retaliated by going in on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” The next day, Drake seemingly responds to K. Dot with “It’s All a Blur.”

In April, Drake dropped “Push Ups” and followed up with “Taylor Made Freestyle.” Kendrick returned fire with “euphoria,” which many are still referring to as an all-time greatest diss record, and “6:16 in LA.”

Drake fired back with “Family Matters” less than a day later, to which Kendrick responded with “Meet the Grahams.” The rapid-fire frequency of these diss records led many to believe these salvos were already created by each rapper in anticipation of a battle, like nuclear warheads in a mutually assured destruction doctrine.

“Not Like Us,” released on May 4, was Kendrick’s fourth Drake diss in the battle that was now a rap war. Drake released “The Heart Pt. 6” on May 5, but many believed it was too little too late. “Not Like Us” topped the Billboard Hot 100 on May 13, solidifying Kendrick’s victory over Drake in this wildly unexpected but entertaining and cathartic rap t##-for-tat. Nobody saw it coming, but everybody was glad it did.

Horrific

Diddy’s Chickens Come Home to Roost

Diddy’s year began on a tumultuous note. Some may recall, back when the “Me Too” movement was in full swing, many who were around during the heyday of Bad Boy would wax poetically on social media about the comeuppance that Hip-Hop moguldom was due for.

On February 26, producer Rodney Jones Jr. (also known as Lil Rod) accused Diddy of sexual assault and drugging.  He alleged Diddy forced him to work in a bathroom while he showered and walked around naked. He also alleged Diddy grabbed his genitals without consent, attempted to groom him, forced him to have sex with another man, and to solicit sex workers and perform sexual acts. In his lawsuit, Jones alleges he wasn’t paid for his work on Diddy’s latest album, “The Love Album: Off the Grid.”

In March, Diddy’s home in Miami was raided and federal authorities had his sons in cuffs. Many assumed if federal authorities had anything on him, they would’ve arrested him at the time. But pressure applied in one area can ultimately reveal deficiencies in another.

Just as that story began to fade from public consciousness, a 2016 video showed Diddy beating ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel as she tried to flee. Kicks, punches and vile energy may be the death blow to his reign of terror.

Though the statute of limitation means that he might not face any charges for his indiscretion, the court of public opinion has no such limitations.

Horrific

Pray For Peace in Gaza

Though AllHipHop focuses on Hip-Hop music and culture, it would be a journalistic misstep to write a piece encapsulating the year thus far without mentioning the deaths of the tens of thousands of innocent people in the ongoing Gaza-Hamas War, and the Palestinian citizens who had nothing to do with the October 7 strike on Southern Israel.

More than 1,180 Israeli citizens were killed during the Hamas attack. The resulting Israeli military action has resulted in the deaths of at least 37, 164 Palestinians as of June. On June 11, Hamas agreed to a UN Security Council ceasefire resolution. It would not last.

Horrific

The Trump Follies

On January 26, a New York jury ruled that Donald Trump must pay writer E. Jean Carroll a Queen’s ransom of $83.3 million for defamation. The following month, Trump was ordered to pay a fine of $454 million and barred from owning and running a business in New York for three years.

On May 30, Trump was on the wrong side of the legal system yet again after being found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business reports and concealing damaging information, stemming form the alleged payoff of $130,000 to former adult film star and escort Stormy Daniels. The legal decision makes him the first former United States president to be convicted of a crime.

In the second half of 2024, the old African American adage “hell with gasoline draws” would be a proper epithet to describe the situation; federal court ruling, an assassination attempt on Donald J. Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris becomes the first Black or Asian woman to be granted the Democratic nominee for President, Sean “Diddy” Combs is arrested, Kendrick Lamar’s coupe-de-grace is triple-fold, Jay-Z is hit with some ill charges, and a new American folk hero emerged. We will give you the rundown on all that and much more in Part 2 of this summary of the big stories of 2024, each had us collectively saying “Oh, SNAP!”

Yasiin Bey & The Alchemist Announce New Album “Forensics”

Yasiin Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def, is making his long-awaited return to music with a new album titled Forensics, set to release in 2025. The project is a collaboration with acclaimed producer The Alchemist and marks Bey’s first official album in nearly two decades.

His last album was 2006’s True Magic. Fans of Bey have eagerly anticipated new music, and the partnership with The Alchemist promises to deliver thought-provoking bars and killer production.

Details are scant, but fans did not hold back expressing enthusiasm on the internet.

“Real music is back,” one person said.

“I wasn’t expecting this but it’s NEEDED!!! LETS GO!!! New Yasiin Bey music in 2025 was most definitely in my bucket list,” a Twitter user stated with glee.

One person took a more humorous take stating, “I’m a manager at Target, I’m playing this sh#t in there.”

The comment is rooted in a 2024 remark Bey said about Drake, likening the Canadian’s music played in retail stores like Target. Following backlash, Bey addressed the uproar in a 25-minute video posted to his Instagram on Monday (Jan. 29), offering a partial apology to Drake while clarifying his remarks.

Fans will have to wait and hear if the project with The Alchemist is sonically compatible with retail stores. There will be a live show in Paris in January that will correspond with the new music. See the details below.
