Guy Schmidt Releases Nostalgic Single “Lone Wolf”

Following the recent success of Midnight Sun fans of artist and producer Guy Schmidt waited with bated breath anticipating the young hip hop talent’s next move. This month our king finally returns with “Lone Wolf”, trading “Whisper’s” nostalgic and off-kilter energy for something more brooding and pensive. Though his aural register may have changed this time around, disillusionment and paranoia continue to haunt Schmidt on his latest offering.

Synthesizing a jazzy and poetic flow with his own signature brand of lo-fi – Guy Schmidt sounds like the immaculate lovechild between Topaz Jones and BLK ODYSSY. Though perhaps it’s not as optimistic as the other tracks that might decorate your summer rotation, “Lone Wolf” is still a laid-back and meditative banger perfect for afternoons by the pool and midnight drives alike. With more music and visuals likely slated for the remainder of 2022 – Guy Schmidt is an artist that needs to be on your radar this year.

Musically, Guy Schmidt strives to be a forward-thinking artist who never compromises his values. He’s always paid homage to his roots, and it’s one of the main reasons for his influence’s success. Fans want to connect with musicians outside of their music and Schmidt does an exceptional job at making sure he wears his heart on his sleeve. Labels pump out artists on a monthly basis, so creatives must pay particular attention to their songs’ structure to stay nuanced and visible in a fast-paced music market.

Even though 2022 knocked many off their feet, Guy Schmidt has kept an upbeat approach from the start. This season, he honed his skills to add to his ever-growing 2022 collection. Guy Schmidt is undeniably a game-changer, a surefire talent who is quickly gaining acclaim.

Community Responds To Grand Master Jay Conviction

When Grandmaster Jay formed the NFAC, his loyal following convened in the name of justice for victims of police brutality, racism and domestic terror. Now, they mobilize around him in an effort to raise awareness about his latest legal plight: conviction.

Sentencing in August could result in 20 or more years in prison for the leader of the Black militia.

John Fitzgerald Johnson, Grandmaster Jay’s government name, was found guilty of one account of assaulting and impeding officers and another count of brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.

Now, the community at large has responded to his conviction with an overwhelmingly positive, supportive retort.

The instagram account @black_self_defense_coalition posted an image that garnered considerable feedback, much of which was sorrow.

“Sending prayers and love ❤️”

“I am so heartbroken for this. I am soooooooo heartbroken 💔.”

“This makes me sad. Our brother doesn’t deserve this treatment!!!”

“Praying for this beloved, King! 🙏”

Others, like Eleanor Harvey, sprung into action to create motion to support GMJ. Harvey has been actively raising funds for legal defense.

She posted the following information, which was reposted by Dr. Umar Johnson and others.

Everybody was not lending their support of the NFAC leader.

Tarik Ross, a community activist that once worked with Snoop Dogg, took a strong position over social media.

“Dummy. He shoulda stayed a DJ. Guns went off in Ky. Coulda got someone killed. Fake Militant. Fake Woke. Dont even know the Law,” he said under an AllHipHop social media post.”

Eleanor Harvey also had words for those that criticize GMJ him, even suggesting he worked on behalf of the government to incriminate other Black people.

“There’s no more calling him an agent, because the feds do not convict their own,” she told AllHipHop.

Most of the feedback cited hypocrisy over gun law standards along racial lines, the contrast with police killings of unarmed Black people and even Cointelpro.  Cointelpro was a clandestine and mostly illegal program by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation the stalked, harassed, infiltrated, discredited and employed other gross abuses of power. At times, it lead to murder and death.

According to the FBI, the program formally ended in 1971.

Harvey and others feel this present persecution is an extension of the old tactics or actually Cointelpro. However, she told AllHipHop that GMJ is prepared to defend himself.

“He is standing strong and encouraged. He is prepared for the fight ahead,” Harvey said. “But he needs our help to sustain him.”

She specifically requested that we share the details of his incarceration for people to write him, give funds for commissary and also give to his legal defense fund.

The information is below.

He is currently being held until

Yella Beezy Blasts D.A. For Throwing Him In Jail Over A Ticket And Setting Bond At $1 Million

Dallas, Texas, rap star Yella Beezy is out of jail after being taken into custody earlier this week.

According to arrest records, a warrant was issued for the rapper in connection to his ongoing sexual assault case.

Yella Beezy was arrested for a sexual assault in November of 2021, but he was released on a $57,500 bond.

The rapper was re-arrested after his bond was held insufficient on Thursday (May 26th).

As AllHipHop reported, the order could have been for various reasons, including missing court dates, running afoul of the law, or not following a judge’s order, amongst other things.

As it turns out, Yella Beezy was thrown in jail over a simple ticket.

“I got arrested for a ticket, and the D.A went off my bond and raised it to $1,000,000 (some unheard of s###). Same case I been fighting that’s about to get dropped, but the ‘system’ prolonging it in hopes to catch me in some so they can stick anything on me,” Yella Beezy said.

“But that case about to get DISMISSED ain’t no second charge!!!! Where do y’all get y’all information from?” the rap star said.

Despite his belief that the charges will be dismissed soon, Yella Beezy is fighting several charges.

He is accused of a felony sexual assault charge, abandoning or endangering a child, and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

The rapper previously denied all of the allegations.

“I can’t really speak on a lot of the stuff ’cause my lawyer advised me not to, but I just had to speak out because people get stuff misconstrued,” Yella Beezy said. “I’ll have my day in court, I ain’t worried about nothing. Evidence is going to prove itself. Like I said, a rumor spread faster than the truth. Just trust the process.”

Young Moose Wins Lawsuit Against Baltimore Over Real Life Crooked Cops Dramatized On HBO Series

Baltimore rapper Young Moose will get some justice now that the city of Baltimore is preparing to pay him a $300,000 settlement over the actions of a corrupt cop.

Young Moose filed a lawsuit against the Baltimore Police Department over the actions of a crooked detective on the Gun Trace Task Force (GTTF) named Daniel Hersl.

In 2012, the crooked cop planted evidence on the rising rap star, born Kevron Evans. The rapper and a friend were leaving a bar in the city when Hersl and two other cops detained them without cause.

Young Moose claimed that Hersl planted drugs on him during the illegal arrest, resulting in his arrest. Young Moose was locked up on drug felonies and held on $2 million bail.

The charges against Young Moose were eventually dropped eight years later, but the damage to his pockets fighting the case was already done. The rapper addressed the charges on his song “Tired” where he checked Hersl by name.

During the eight years that passed by, Hersl and eight other members of the GTTF were indicted for racketeering, extortion, robbery, and overtime fraud.

Hersl and his outlaw cop buddies were convicted of stealing thousands of dollars from innocent people.

Hersl is currently serving an 18-year sentence in Springfield, Missouri and the city of Baltimore has had to shell out over $10 million to in damages to victims of the rogue cops.

The drama surrounding GTTF was turned into an HBO miniseries currently airing on HBO titled “We Own This City,” which features Young Moose as himself and stars Jamie Hector, Jon Bernthal, and Josh Charles as the infamous Daniel Hersl.

Ksoo Not Worried About His Own Dad Testifying Against Him In Double-Murder Trial

Rapper Ksoo’s dad thinks testifying against his son in court is the right thing to do. He defended his decision on social media earlier this week.

As reported by AllHipHop.com, Abdul Robinson Sr. decided to he would be working with prosecutors in an effort to put both of his sons away for several murders.

Hakeem “Ksoo” Robinson, 23, is charged with first-degree murder. Abdul Robinson Jr., 27, is charged with second-degree murder. The father and son are accused of killing rival rappers Lil Buck and Bibby.

Robinson Sr. was also charged as an accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

Abdul Robinson Sr. stated in a since-deleted Instagram post, “If it was me and my Daddy (Shaka tip) in a situation like this, I would’ve been freed my daddy along time ago,” he wrote. “NO MATTER WHAT MY CONSEQUENCES WOULD’VE BEEN(no justification needed).”

“Especially if he’s a good/great daddy(datpart) He could do more for me out of jail than in jail/prison!!!! WHO LEAVE THERE DADDY IN JAIL TO ROT??? ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU KNOW HE INNOCENT,” he continued in the post.

He said, “I would’ve been stood up and said my daddy ain’t got a F**K thing to do with nothing!!! You n***as and b***hes out in that free world talk that talk out there until its time to walk that walks FACING THAT LIFE SENTENCE!!!!!. #FreeGood/GreatDads #yeaiknyallnvrdo.”

The father, who police believe is being targeted for cooperating, has been moved out of the Duval County Jail for his safety.

Ksoo is not concerned about his dad flipping on him, according to the rapper’s lawyer Christopher DeCoste.

“This is yet another witness that came to them in handcuffs—we’re not concerned. The government has repeatedly said how bad of a guy the father is now they present him as some pillar of truth,” DeCoste told News 4. “All their witnesses—convicted criminals that were pending prosecution—have motive to lie to save themselves. Meanwhile, we have the truth like the video and witnesses that prove Mr. Robinson cannot be the shooter. That’s why we’re not concerned.”

B.o.B Blames Ex-Manager After Being Sued For $3 Million In Unpaid Royalties

B.o.B. faces a $3 million lawsuit for unpaid royalties.

According to court documents obtained by Digital Music News and TMZ, Round Hill Music and Artists Rights Management sued B.o.B for breach of contract. The multi-platinum selling rapper pointed the finger at his ex-manager, suggesting the deal was something he didn’t know about.

“I have not seen the lawsuit but am aware my former manager had entered into agreements without my knowledge,” he told TMZ. “I take my business seriously and look forward to getting to the truth of what happened.”

B.o.B allegedly entered an agreement with RAZOR/TEI, which obtained the rights to “collect certain royalties” from the former Atlantic Records artist in 2017. RAZOR/TEI transferred those rights to Artists Rights Management, which was acquired by Round Hill Music.

“In an intentional violation of the Assignment Agreement, Defendants have prevented Plaintiffs from collecting the royalties that Plaintiffs are contractually entitled to collect,” the lawsuit claims. “Defendants’ breach of the Assignment Agreement also constitutes an Event of Default under the terms of the Security Agreement, giving Plaintiffs the right to exercise all remedies provided for in the Security Agreement and by Article 9 of the New York Uniform Commercial Code.”

The plaintiffs are seeking at least $3,000,000 along with attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses. B.o.B has 20 days to respond to the lawsuit.

Grandmaster Jay Found Guilty

Grandmaster Jay, who’s real name is John Fitzgerald Johnson, was found found guilty on two counts today after standing trial for roughly 4 days.

He was indicted last year on federal charges that accused him of pointing a rifle at law officials during a protest on September 4, 2020. He was charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers and brandishing a firearm in connection with a violent crime.

Prosecutors and authorities maintain the leader of the NFAC (Not F##king Around Coalition) pointed a firearm at members of the US Secret Service and the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) while they were on the roof at the Jefferson County Grand Jury Building.

Grandmaster Jay vehemently objected to the state’s description of what happened.

He told AllHipHop in a previous interview flatly: “I didn’t do anything wrong. I didn’t break any laws.”

There was numerous facets of the case to support that the Black militia leader meant no harm to the law officials.

For example, both sides of the case acknowledge that Grandmaster Jay, authorities and others met prior to the convening of the NFAC to speak about logistics as well as working together to keep people safe.

According to the prosecution, they said also stressed that the guns of the NFAC would need to stay pointed down. They charged at the leader of the organization pointed up, regarded as a “higher ready position.” This was counter to what they agreed upon, the prosecutor alleged.

Grandmaster Jay‘s attorney charged that clearly did not seek to shoot anyone on the rooftop. There is even video footage of him corresponding with authorities on the ground. He charged that he was simply pointing his light on the roof, because thought teenagers were on the roof with paintball guns.

United States attorney Joseph Ansari reportedly showed the NFAC leader pointing his ASR-15 at the law men with several angles.

Numerous members of the NFAC, who were all dressed in black, were in attendance at today’s trial.

When Grandmaster Jay and the NFAC first came to prominence, in the aftermath of the murders of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, there was a groundswell of support from the Hip-Hop community. After his arrest, those voices have quieted.

The Hip-Hop artists, they need to be talking abut this,” said a source, who chose anonymity, told AllHipHop.

Reports say Jay will remain incarcerated until he is sentenced on August 22, 2022.

Support the GoFundMe and let’s take it to the Supreme Court,” the source concluded.

DJ Quik’s Son Arrested For Suspicion Of Murder After Fight Leads To Gunplay And Death

DJ Quik is dealing with some serious family drama after his son was arrested for his alleged involvement in a murder earlier this week.

The legendary producer/rapper’s son David M. Blake Jr has been booked on suspicion of murder, the Downey, California Police Department has confirmed.

The 27-year-old worked as a council liaison for Compton City Councilman Isaac Galvan.

According to police, Blake was involved in an altercation with a 33-year-old named Julio Cardoza on Wednesday (May 25th). The fight escalated to gunplay, and Cardoza was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. He later succumbed to his injury.

David M. Blake Jr. is currently being held on a $2 million bond.

David Blake Jr. briefly took up a career rapping, like his famous father. He dropped several videos and songs under the moniker D Blake.

Unfortunately, this is not the first serious family drama DJ Quik has faced involving his children.

Quik’s daughter, Davieanna Marlena Blake, was charged over the tragic death of his grandson in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2013.

In that incident, DJ Quik’s daughter’s boyfriend, Darnell Moses Alvarez, disciplined the child for wetting the bed. Tragically, the young child suffered a lacerated liver, internal bleeding, bruising, and other signs of severe trauma.

Taviana Blake was charged with first-degree murder and held on a $250,000 bond, while Darnell Moses Alvarez’s bond was set at $500,000.

Gangsta Boo Accused Of Drug Use On Marriage Reality Show

Boo.

You know we love Gangsta Boo over here!

However, the queen of Memphis got herself in a little bit of drama recently. Her and her man were on Marriage Boot Camp and were unfortunately kicked off, because of the discovery of a white powdery substance.

Now, that could be a small amount of baby powder. Maybe it was salt in a baggie. Or, maybe as implied by the producers of the show, it was drugs. Anybody that knows Gangsta Boo and the Three 6 Mafia crew, pretty much knows that they used to indulge in some drug use. So right now they may not…or MAY. We don’t know!

FIRST LOOK] Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition Season 17 Trailer

However, those that know Gangsta Boo, know that she has evolved in tremendous ways beyond the drug culture that once populated their souls. In fact, she has advised us fans on some pretty healthy options of living. In her expulsion from the show, Boo made it clear that she did not know what they were talking about. In a Twitter rant, she said that they were clearly looking to get a jump on the ratings and she left the door open for more reality TV.

However, I want to know what the deal is, because we need to get to the bottom of this situation. Based on the comments that I have seen, people believe that she is on that stuff. And they are saying that they hope she gets help for her problem! If there is a problem, I want her to get help. But what we are not going to do is assume that our Baby Boo is on drugs! Do you know how these reality shows do! Its all in the edit!

Take a look at this and you be the judge.

On IG, she said the following in a now deleted post:

You would think that someone like @drish would have a better choice of delivery, when he is trying to be all ‘professional’…Not sure if he just a TV ‘Dr’ when the cameras are on or in real life when they are off.”

This is #mentalhealthawareness month so if you care so much about ppl health, with SO much ‘concern and sincerity,’ why did YOU noticeably allow ppl to be on prescription meds while drinking alcohol in front of you?? Everything was on camera. Don’t pretend like you didn’t know.”

On Twitter, she said more.

“Talk about staged and gaslight 😅 sheeesh

Not the soundbite sniff sniff while I walked into a open closet mic’d up with the door wide open chile lmao

Me and my homegirl DIED laughing..It was almost like watching a cartoon.

On god

The edits were SO trash.

I get it but, the fact that Ole boy can eyeball work like Gorilla Zoe and can tell what something is in a bag [they planted and staged] is beyond me chile haha. Not the meth 😅”

They set up Boo and Emmet!

Kanye West Loses Another Attorney In His Divorce Case

Kanye West’s legal team is undergoing more changes amid his divorce proceedings.

According to The Blast, attorney Samantha Spector filed to withdraw from the case. She cited irreconcilable issues with her client.

Spector, who previously represented Dr. Dre’s ex-wife Nicole Young in her divorce, joined Kanye’s legal team after he fired Chris Melcher. Ye axed Melcher prior to a judge declaring Kim Kardashian legally single in March.

Kanye lost Spector but still has representation in the case. He is reportedly being represented by a Pennsylvania lawyer who isn’t a divorce attorney.

Kardashian filed to divorce Kanye in February 2021. She listed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

Kanye married Kardashian in 2014. They have four children.

“True Love,” a Kanye collaboration with the late XXXTentacion, hit streaming services on Thursday (May 26). The track references Ye’s custody battle with his ex-wife.

“Wait, when you see the kids? I’ll see y’all tomorrow/ Wait, when the sun set? I see y’all tomorrow/ Wait, when I pick ’em up, I feel like they borrowed/ When I gotta return them, scan ’em like a barcode/ Wait, no hard feelings, but these feelings hard though,” he raps on the track.

Scarface Scolds Ted Cruz For Attending NRA Convention In Wake Of Uvalde School Shooting

Scarface called out Texas Senator Ted Cruz in the aftermath of a deadly school shooting in Uvalde.

The Hip Hop legend condemned Cruz for appearing at the NRA’s convention in Houston on Friday (May 27). Scarface wondered why the Republican politician attended the event after 19 children and two adults were shot and killed at an elementary school on May 24.

“Man @tedcruz has no compassion for anything or anyone,” Scarface wrote via Twitter. “You took off at a time your constituents needed you most you flew to Cancun during the freeze, you let a man insult your wife, your father, hell he insulted you, and now you’re a trumpet you dare to show up at NRA convention?”

He added, “Ay @tedcruz imagine the terror those little 4th graders faced, the pain tha families are dealing with right now, This is a bad time to attend an NRA convention, btw I have a 4th grader, and I also have an assault rifle I’d be willing to part with my weapon, but NOT my 4th grader.”

Scarface later posted a link to an Axios report, which listed the lawmakers benefiting from the gun lobby’s donations. Cruz reportedly accepted the most money from gun rights groups.

Pete Rock criticized drill rap in a since-deleted Instagram post on Thursday (May 26).

The legendary producer shared his thoughts about drill rap alongside footage of New York City Mayor Eric Adams. The clip showed the mayor referencing a drill rap video at a press conference about school safety.

“Drill Rap!! Thats trash hop not hip hop,” Pete Rock wrote. “I been told yall about this kinda s###. idc call me what you want but that kinda hip hop is doo doo and it disrupts the soul i told yall that already man lol smh. Nobody speaks up on this trash lol.”

The 11-track offering features Joony’s (@joonyoftv) signature feeling of melancholy that pairs well with his excellent ear for production. After catching significant steam with his Fast & Furious-inspired single “Drifting In Tokyo,” the 21-year-old creative digs deep in his artistic bag to bring a versatile full-length effort.

Young Dolph’s Family May Have To Wait Years To Get Justice

The judge presiding over the Young Dolph murder case, where two men who were indicted for the rapper’s death, says the case may not go to trial for a long time.

According to WREG, on Friday, May 27th, Judge Lee Coffee told the chart-topper’s family that it might be years before justice might be offered to them.

Dolph was shot dead in front of the Makeda Cookie Shop in Memphis in November of 2021.

The two suspects, Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith were caught on surveillance camera at the death scene.

The men appeared in the Memphis courtroom for a bond hearing. However, the hearing was reset for later in the summer, on July 1st. According to the judge, the defense made the request so that he could finish going through the process of discovery.

After declaring the request, the judge relayed the message to the family that the trial might transpire in 2022 or even 2023.

Coffee said, “This case is probably going to be in this court for a while. It takes a while for first-degree murder cases to be at a point where they can be tried.”

As reported by AllHipHop.com, Johnson and Smith are charged with Young Dolph’s murder.

Both men are currently being held without bond and have been in custody since January 2022.

They pleaded not guilty in a February hearing.

Drake Wins $1M After Betting On Golden State To Win WCF ‘Chip

Thanks to the Golden State Warriors, gambler Drake has won big in a sports bet after a couple of bad calls.

Stephen Curry led the team to a win over the Mavericks in the NBA’s Western Conference Finals, helping the chart-topper cash out $1 million.

At the top of the playoff season, on April 15th, Drake bet $200,000 on the Warriors to win the West through the Stake app. With this win, the “God’s Plan” rapper earned five times that amount in money.

This will be the Golden State Warriors’ 6th time going to the NBA Finals in 8 years. However, it is the league’s first time awarding a player (Steph Curry, of course) the Magic Johnson Western Conference Finals MVP trophy.

https://twitter.com/DrGuru_/status/1514819310589407236?s=20&t=PWTdOu_LBO3bNjJKcDwl6w

As reported by AllHipHop.com, Drake has a partnership with the betting app Stake to wager on various sporting events, ranging from basketball and football to MMA fights.

Big win aside, the world knows Drake loves all things basketball and Canada-related. So, it wasn’t a surprise to anyone that he was super hyped for J. Cole’s Canadian Elite Basketball debut.

From the comforts of his home as he flip-flopped from the Golden State and Maverick game, he caught a glimpse of his fellow rapper’s debut for the Elite Basketball League in Canada.

The North Carolina rapper played for the Scarborough Shooting Stars last night, although the team lost 89-80 to the Guelph Nighthawks. J. Cole finished with 3 points, 1 assist, and 1 rebound.

“Cole did a great job, and he played his heart out, and I think what he brings is also excitement, and he brings a certain fan base that we want to continue to see the game. I think all those things are great things for everybody,” said Scarborough head coach Chris Exilus.

He wrote on IG, “It’s real @scarboroughshootingstars my brother just checked in.”
