Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have suffered a tragedy.
According to The New York Post, the Black power couple’s home in Malibu has caught fire.
“Video footage from the sprawling estate on Cold Canyon Road showed an ambulance with flashing lights entering just after 3:30 p.m. Monday, followed by an ambulance, several other cars, and a utility vehicle,” reported the outlet. “A witness said a fire broke out somewhere on one of the properties, causing extensive smoke damage.”
It’s unclear whether Will and Jada Pinkett Smith were in the house during the time of the blaze.
But this is the same home where the couple hosted Jada’s 50th birthday party, which they turned into a skating rink.
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the blaze. It also appears that the home only suffered “smoke damage,” so there doesn’t appear to be any extensive damage to the home. Neither of the Smiths, nor their children, posted anything on social media about the fire, either. But this isn’t the first time the home has been subjected to a blaze — in fact, in 2018, the Smiths were forced to evacuate when the property was in the crosshairs of the Woolsey fire.
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith didn’t return the Post’s request for comment.

Although there’s no official confirmation as of yet, Gossip of the City reports that the rapper will be headed off to jail later today. The outlet claims that Tory Lanez allegedly violated the restraining order that Megan Thee Stallion took out against him when he performed at Rolling Loud this past summer.

The claims made by the gossip outlet were further fueled by Tory Lanez’s last tweet, which read — in its entirety — “it’s been real.” The rapper also deleted most of his Instagram posts, and changed his profile photo to a black square.
Black Twitter wasted no time in sharing their opinions on the matter, with most folks celebrating the fact that the rapper — who shot Megan Thee Stallion in the feet — would finally be accountable for his crimes.
It bears stating that nothing has been confirmed by Lanez’s team, as of this writing. No other outlets have confirmed this allegation, either. If it is true, however, there’s nobody that deserves it more than he does. “Both sides” don’t deserve a platform, and there’s absolutely no reason or justification why he should have shot anybody, let alone a woman.
And please spare me the conspiracy theories about how Tory Lanez was going to buy Universal Records or some other horsesh*t, and “the lumernaaaati” is keeping him down. No. Absolutely the f*ck not. That’s not how the music industry works. I’ve been in it for more years than most readers have been alive. “The lumernaaaaaaaaati” could care less what a subliterate rapper does with his money — they’re too busy trying to force a hegemonic takeover of democratic governments.
I also don’t care what some random white dude got away with — they don’t need to get away with it either.
And finally, I am well aware that there’s a different justice system for white men and Black men. I well acknowledge that the corruption of the system has resulted in Black, LatinX, and indigenous men being incarcerated at a rate that’s exponentially higher than their white counterparts, simply because they couldn’t afford a big-shot lawyer that could sway the system in their favor. The for-profit prison pipeline is real, and I fully believe the whole system is overdue for an overhaul.
However, motherf*ck Tory Lanez for using those facts as an excuse for what he did. I will never get behind a man that shot a woman — especially a Black woman — for petty, unnecessary reasons. There’s no “there’s more to the story.” And unless Megan herself was ramming a Sig Sauer up his a** — which she wasn’t — nothing justifies what happened to her.

The instrumental for Drake’s Certified Lover Boy song “Pipe Down” served as the soundtrack for J. Cole’s latest musical offering. Cole used “Heaven’s EP” to namedrop Drake as well as Top Dawg Entertainment’s Kendrick Lamar.
“Some people say that I’m running third. They threw the bronze at me, behind Drake and Dot. Yeah, them n##### is superstars to me,” rapped J. Cole. All three Grammy winners are widely considered the top rappers of their generation.

The debate over which emcee is the true leader of the past decade played out on social media, on talk shows, and in barbershops. J. Cole spoke about competing against Kendrick Lamar and Drake during his press run for The Off-Season.
“These are the guys that push you, and you gotta push them,” said J. Cole. “But what I’ve been trying to do for the past few years – I think I was so competitive. A Twitter user by the name of “Eleven8” found herself in the middle of the long-running Meek Mill vs Karen Civil drama. The former senior editor at Baller Alert blasted Meek on Twitter but later defended him on the social media platform against Akademiks.
She added, “Y’all ask Meek what he wrote on [his ex-girlfriend Nicki Minaj’s] walls when he broke into her house… [I was] pro-Meek [as f###] and posted ONE thing he didn’t like, and all of a sudden he was threatening folks and claiming it’s a hate campaign against him. Next Akademiks inserted himself in the situation by going on a Twitch rant about Meek Mill and Karen Civil. During his live stream tirade, Ak claimed Karen Civil blocked footage of Meek “beating up a chick” from becoming public.
However, Akademiks posted a tweet walking back his accusations. The ex-host of Everyday Struggle threw Eleven8 under the bus by suggesting she was the person who broke the alleged story of Meek assaulting a woman.
“To clarify… in case I misspoke, I was referring to what @eleven8 was tweeting bout. I was saying Karen helps behind the scenes [to] make these f*cked up artists look better. Karen didn’t hide that video… Don’t [know] if she got it but clearly someone hid it if [I] just heard bout this now,” tweeted Akademiks.

Eleven8 reacted to Akademiks’s tweet. “Say bruh, [I don’t know] what you’re talking about or what video you’re referring to but I didn’t say anything about a video. There ain’t no video. Don’t cap on my name, G,” she wrote.
Meek Mill and Akademiks have been feuding for years. In 2020, Meek said Ak should be “canceled” for supposedly having a connection to law enforcement and fostering beef in Hip Hop culture.
Plus, Akademiks apparently called the police on Meek after the Philadelphia-bred rhymer tweeted, “Nah you online!! You just make money off the trenches … next phase is like green light.” Ak took the “green light” comment as a threat.

Anthony Johnson’s sudden passing has left his family struggling to pay for his funeral expenses even though the family has received an outpouring of offers to contribute.
Lexis Jones Mason, the wife of comedian Anthony Johnson, also known as AJ Johnson, spoke to TMZ in the wake of her husband’s unexpected passing revealing the offers have turned into empty promises.
Referring to the GoFundMe started by the family for AJ’s funeral she says “There’s $700 in there, a few of my friends Cash App-ed me and I got like another $400.” Fighting back tears she says “Y’all say y’all love him but where is the love? Y’all not helping.”
She says she has been receiving calls and messages from people saying they are raising money but nothing has materialized. “No, we’re raising money because I have to pay for this all out of pocket.”
The heartbreaking interview continues with Lexis saying that she is determined to do right by her beloved late husband. “We’re gonna have a service. I’m gonna do everything I know he would have done for me. It’s just hurtful. I would not be asking if we had it, or we had a policy.”
“There’s people that’s saying that they’re gonna give money…we haven’t received it. Just to bury him and the funeral services alone will be close to 15 (thousand dollars)”
Lexis is only asking for help to cover the funeral costs. She says if the family can’t come up with the money to give him the send-off he deserves, they’ll have a service and have him cremated.
She says the family is grateful for anyone who genuinely wants to contribute to the funeral expenses but does not appreciate all the fake love they’ve been receiving. “Just please stop the fake love please stop the fake calls please stop the fake texts,” she pleads. “Just for our family, Me the kids and the grandkids, just stop it.”
Breaking down she says “I’m gonna stay busy and I’m going to work in a couple of days. I’m not gonna worry about this, I apologize. If I had the strength I would go right now. It took everything in me to come on here and do this.”

Earlier this year The Game came under fire for allegedly scamming unsigned artists, promising to help boost their careers, and then running off with their bread! Now, another artist has come out with fresh allegations against the Los Angeles rapper. She claims he finessed her out of $1,000.
The unnamed woman made the accusations during a recent episode of “The Morning Hustle” which was shared on Tuesday (September 21) by “The Neighbourhood Talk.” The post was captioned: “We Tried To Warn Y’all: Another Artist Claims The Game Scammed Her Out Of $1000 By Promising Her A Spot On His Mixtape: ‘Mixtape Isn’t Posted To His Official Pages.”
Someone must have alerted The Game to the post as he jumped in the comment section to respond directly. “Please stop wit the fake news,” he wrote. “I ain’t never scammed nobody in my life out of nothing !!!! If you want sumn to post, holla at me n I’ll do sumn to help y’all weird ass blog out.”
Back in February, Game was similarly accused of taking advantage of aspiring artists and stealing from them.
“He doesn’t upload on his verified SoundCloud account, he uploads on a separate account with only 266 followers,” was just one of the many claims made in the post. “In addition, he doesn’t market it on Instagram or Facebook, nor makes an appearance on any of the songs.”
At the time, he denied any wrongdoing claiming that it was the fault of the artists.
“So when someone that doesn’t happen with some unsigned artists, well that person is mad, right?” he said in an interview with “HipHopDX” at the time. “Because they thought that this drop or this mixtape slot was going to change their lives, when in reality it’s just a step on the ladder.
“Use it as you may and get as much as you can off of it, but it’s not going to make you DaBaby. Basically, I’m just trying to uplift artists with dope opportunities.”

It’s been a turbulent few days for media marketing maven Karen Civil. Several artists in the industry have called her out for allegedly shady business practices, finessing them out of thousands of dollars. Joyner Lucas, Jessie Woo, and Meek Mill are just some of the artists who have made allegations against her.
DJ Akademiks has weighed in with his opinion on the matter claiming the only reason some of these complaining artists have careers at all is that Karen previously covered up some dirt that could have buried them.
Ak was live on his Twitch stream recently talking about the hidden side of the music industry when someone in the chat suggested that he was afraid of crossing Karen Civil.
“The type of chick Karen is, she’s a scrappy b*tch who saves artists. I’ve seen her save artists,” said Ak. “She begs platforms like mine, ‘Don’t embarrass n*ggas.’ She’s worked for Nicki, Nicki’s a f*cked up human being. She’s tried to make her seem personable. That’s all I’m sayin’ my n*gga.”
“Anytime I’ve had interactions with her, she’s makin’ f*cked up artists look better. I’m telling you,” he continued. “People who do sh*t—Meek got, apparently, somebody got Meek on video beatin’ up a chick, bro! That video never came out! Who made that sh*t never [come] out? Karen, bro!… All of these n*ggas, they need somebody like that because they make mistakes, they f*ck up, they do human sh*t.”
Akademiks had alluded to this in an earlier stream where he went off on Meek Mill for trying to expose Karen Civil after she covered up for him.
Akademiks went on to say that the reason a lot of these celebrity scandals get swept under the rug and aren’t believed by the public is “because you’ve got someone who’s specifically working to make sure them artists look good. Forget Karen, there’s always somebody like that, Karen’s the best at what she does.”
“Karen gets rid of the skeletons and the tea that can ruin people’s careers. Karen been doing dirty work for a lot of people for a lot of years.
The controversial personality then calls out the hypocrisy of some of those making allegations although clarifies that he isn’t referring to Joyner Lucas.

Dr. Dre is currently embroiled in a very expensive divorce that just got even costlier. In the most recent development, Dre has been ordered to pay an extra $1.55 million in attorneys fees.
“The Blast” reports that they have obtained legal documents relating to the case and in particular, the temporary order issued by the judge in the case. This latest order takes the total that Dr. Dre must pay his ex-wife, Nicole Young in lawyers fees to more than $4 million. This is in addition to the $2 million he’s already paid in fees and the hefty spousal support he currently pays.
The judge explained the reason for such high fees, basically very good (and expensive) lawyers. According to court papers, Young’s legal tab for celebrity lawyer Samatha Spector can cost up to $1,100 per hour
“The attorney’s training and experience in family law. Ms. Samantha F. Spector and Lisa Helfend Meyer, certified family law specialists, have significant years of experience in family law and have extensive practical experience in complex family law matters. Considering the level of the case’s complexity, and the issues involved, an attorney of their level and skill is reasonably necessary; and therefore, the various hourly rates of the primary and secondary attorneys participating in this litigation are reasonable and justifiable,” the order reads.
The judge had previously ordered that Dre should pay Nicole $293,306 in monthly temporary spousal support and has now further ruled that he must cover the household costs including security, insurance, gardening, taxes, repairs, and maintenance, retroactive to Sept. 1, 2020.
The payments only extend as far as July 2021 and the judge has asked both sides to confer on any additional payments Dr. Dre owes Nicole for household costs by next month.

After Fat Beats announced more vinyl copies of the LP would be available on its online store, Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh spoke out against the reissue. Both Little Brother members told fans to avoid buying The Minstrel Show vinyl because the two aren’t getting paid from it.
“I see ABB Records has decided to put up a repress of The Minstrel Show on vinyl instead of answering for 16 years of non payment on TMS or answering for 18 years of non payment for The Listening,” Big Pooh tweeted. “Humbly asking that you not support bad business practices. Thank you for listening.”

Although The Minstrel Show was released by Atlantic Records in 2005, Big Pooh noted ABB Records maintained the vinyl rights. Little Brother dropped their debut album The Listening via ABB in 2003.
“Atlantic Records own all platforms except vinyl, ABB retained vinyl rights when we initially signed to Atlantic,” Big Pooh mentioned on Twitter.
Phonte also addressed the situation, clarifying that he had no problem with Fat Beats. But like Big Pooh, he wanted fans to avoid buying The Minstrel Show vinyl – and not stream The Listening – due to Little Brother’s ongoing money issues with ABB.

The “Black Panther” star confirmed he was dating Lori Harvey on Instagram in January and now her father, comedian Steve Harvey has heaped praise on the actor, saying it’s the first time she’s been happy in a relationship.
Speaking to People, the 64-year-old “Family Feud” host said: “I don’t speak publicly about this type of stuff, but I’m happy for my daughter right now.
“I really am. It’s the first time I’ve been happy for her (in a relationship). And it’s the first time she’s been happy.”
He added of Michael: “He’s just a good guy. If he wasn’t, get him out of here, ’cause I have ways. But I can’t say nothing bad, man. He’s just got a great family, man. He’s a spiritual guy.”
And after Michael was previously named People’s Sexiest Man Alive, Steve joked that doesn’t really carry any clout as far as he’s concerned.
“He’s not the sexiest man alive to me, at all,” he laughed. “I haven’t seen it. I haven’t seen anything sexy yet. But I’m a father. I don’t give a damn if you (are) cute. I just want somebody to treat my princess the way I treat her.”
And Lori has no complaints in that department, after dating Trey Songz, and Future, who dissed her publicly.
She opened up on U.S. TV talk show “The Real” about what an attentive boyfriend her other half is.
“Even the other day, I had just been saying I really just wanted to go to a farmer’s market, so he called me one Sunday morning and was like, ‘What are you doing? I’m going to come pick you up.’ And he took me an hour away to this really cute farmer’s market and we had the best day. So, it’s things like that,” she smiled.
“I really do believe in the statement when they say, ‘when you know you know.’ And I think that really applies to our situation and we just have a really good time together. He’s so sweet, very attentive. He listens to me and the things that I say that I want and he really makes an effort.”
Stormzy helped a musician get signed after meeting him in a supermarket.
The rapper was approached by Dylan Walker at a Sainsbury’s store in south west London earlier this year, when the man explained that he had quit his job in banking for a career in music.
He played one of his tracks for Stormzy, who was so impressed he took his email address and started helping him out.
This led to Dylan landing a management deal and receiving interest from many record labels – and Stormzy also shared the track with his pal Ed Sheeran.
Dylan was shocked to later receive a video from the pair, where Stormzy said: “Yo Dylan, that song is so sick. Someone else wanted to let you know how sick they think it is as well.”
Ed added: “Man, fantastic. Keep writing songs every single day and just enjoy every second of it.”
Meanwhile, Stormzy recently revealed he is determined to spread “love and positivity” and, although he doesn’t like to boast about the things he’s done to help people, he’s determined to make a positive difference.
He told i-D magazine: “I say I’m just trying to spread love and positivity.
“I don’t even want to reel off the good things we’re doing… We’ve got a platform, we’ve got resources, and in whatever way we can spread that love and positivity we do.”
Suddenly, Reverse went in for the kill. He had everyone in the audience throw various items on the floor, ranging from cell phones to sneakers to backpacks. The Cuban rapper then proceeded to freestyle about the objects, hurling bar after bar towards his fellow finalist Mobetho. It was a stunning climax to the brackets-style rap competition. “I think Reverse really shined through with some of his punchlines, lines that make the crowd react and definitely made me react,” famed rapper Snow Tha Product admitted after the battle.
The U.S. finals of Red Bull Batalla took place over the weekend with 16 ferocious emcees representing numerous aspects of the Latino Hip-Hop diaspora. We know battle rap well here in the States, but Batalla is unique and different. Reverse ( @reverse_tcr ), an Orlando, Floridian of Cuban descent, will travel to Chilé for the international finals, where he’ll face off with emcees from all over the world. There are whispers that the caliber of emcee there will be far more daunting and intense. Red Bull Batalla – the world’s largest Spanish freestyle rap competition – was nothing less than lit.
Lit, but tense. Snow, who acted as a Batalla judge, admitted that she did not want to mess up.
“It was difficult (judging the battle). I was nervous. If I f##k this up, somebody’s fans are about to crucify me,” Snow said. “I just wanted to be fair and pay attention, which is why I looked so concentrated.” Each contestant had a different accent, dialect, and slang, which made it hard to pick the winner. Snow said she looked at all things, then decided who advanced in the U.S. finals along with her other four judges EEl B, Cacha, Jony Beltran, and Cabra.

All of the rhymes are stated in Spanish so there may be a language barrier for some audience members, but energy and vibrations translate rather easily. The flows do as well. The beats were ridiculously dope at the live taping of U.S. finals of Red Bull Batalla as commandeered by DJ Del’Alma, the unspoken hero of the competition. In each lyrical bout, the artists are forced to rap over unique tracks, changing their flows and approach during the Saturday evening at a Hollywood, California studio. The range of the diaspora is on full display.
Cabra, a music producer who acted as a judge said this competition is not as simple as besting the competition through brute force.
“I am looking at continuity of ideas, logic in the ideas, and flow also. Rhythm.” Cabra said. “A lot of rappers [default to] ‘I’m the best,’ but there are several ways to say you are the best. You don’t have to say you are the best to be the best. So, if you can do it in a clever way or a humorous way, I think that’s more powerful.”
The United States is the second-largest Spanish-speaking nation in the world, and Hip-Hop is indigenous to the land so, the strength is more than implied. Red Bull Batalla started as a small, underground movement to one of the largest events in music in 15 years. It is burgeoning into a full-blown culture within another full-blown culture, that celebrates lyrically gifted Hispanic individuals.

Energy aside, the core elements of Hip-Hop are here, which includes hunger, drive, passion and purpose.
Jordi, also known as The Texas Champ, does not mince words with the importance of Red Bull Batalla.
“It’s like a dream,” he said. “This is the top…(as far as) you can go as far as freestyle. I love the freestyle. Some people try to separate freestyle from Hip-Hop, but I love rap.”
Adonys, a Dominican by way of New York, echoed Jordi’s sentiments.
“For us to be here, I don’t think people understand how big this is. We are the top 16 best freestylers in the United States,” he says. “I have been watching Red Bull Batalla since I was 10-years old. It’s crazy. And then in Hip-Hop, people don’t understand there’s Hip-Hop, Rap, and a branch of rap called Freestyle. People that know Hip-Hop, know this.
Make no mistake, Reverse was a classic upset. At 19, he’s been freestyling for a relatively short period of time. However, like so many young people he’s ambitious and unrelenting in his push forward. These balls of energy are from the bottom or the beginning. Most do not yet have a career rapping. They are here for the love and the undying spirit of competition that lives within the culture. Pure instinct propels them forward. Even though Jordi was eventually bested by Eckonn of Venezuela in the quarterfinals, it is almost certain that he’ll be back.
There are five more battles that lead up to the global finals in December: Perú, España, Dominica, Argentina, and Ecuador. Reverse was the toast of the after-party, with many of the combatants flocking to him.
Jada Pinkett Smith celebrated her 50th birthday with a 70s-themed skating party.
Jada and her husband Will Smith built the skating rink at their Los Angeles home for the bash and they were joined by some of her showbiz pals, including MC Lyte, Toni Braxton and Charlie Mack.
A source told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column: “It was the happiest I’ve ever seen them.”
Guests were all asked to provide shoe and sock sizes before arriving for the party.
Jada Pinkett Smith – who has been married to Will since 1997 – and her pals all enjoyed a night to remember on the rink.
The insider shared: “It was probably the best time anyone has ever had, and the DJ played the best music. It was mostly ’70s … it was like a ’70s party.”
Will, 52, didn’t take to the rink because he’s currently in the middle of shooting a film.
However, Jada “skated the whole entire time, and her mom was out there skating the whole time too”.
And although guests were required to undertake a COVID test before attending the bash, the event was staged in typical “Smith family style.”
The source said: “There was no product placement. It was in Smith family style. They paid for everything.”
Beyoncé wished Wale a happy birthday in her own unique way on Tuesday.
In honor of Wale turning 37 years old, Beyoncé put up a special banner for him on her official website. Right under her site’s header, the home page featured a giant “Happy birthday Wale” message alongside a photo of him as a child.
A day prior to his birthday, Wale mentioned Beyoncé in a list of famous Virgos – including himself.
“Tmrw is the ultimate Virgo day,” he wrote on Twitter. “MJ Virgo BEYONCÉ Virgo . NAS. Virgo . OLUBOWALE FOLARIN. Virgo . Please respect our tribe.”
Wale spent much of his birthday replying to the many well wishes on Twitter. Fellow rappers such as DeJ Loaf and Casey Veggies, actor O’Shea Jackson Jr. and NBA guard Isaiah Thomas were among the notable names celebrating him on social media.
Even Wale’s hometown Washington Football Team joined in to show love to the veteran rapper.
Wale expressed his appreciation for the kind words and shared an update on his next album. While he intended to announce the release date on his birthday, sample clearances got in the way of his plans.
“Thank everybody for the Bday love,” he wrote. “I was gonna announce my release date today but once again we have another sample issue that could have/should have been rectified.I guess everything happens for a reason . I’m super grateful for all the love and always #heavyonthegratitude.”
