Mr. Hanky Beats Talks Producer Influences & City Girl’s “Twerkulator” Record

Mr. Hanky Beats has been on a roll, and he’s not stopping anytime soon. Born and raised in East Atlanta, Georgia, the songwriter and producer knows a thing or two about making hits, and he’s responsible for some of your favorite rapper’s biggest songs to date.

From Lil Duval and Snoop Dogg’s “Smile B####/Living My Best Life” to DJ Luke Nasty’s Gold-certified smash “On the Way” to most recently City Girls’ “Twerkulator”… Mr. Hanky continues to create and do what he loves best.

Mr. Hanky Beats, real name Corey Dennard grew up in a musical household, with his mother and sister being trained musicians. Getting his feet wet playing trumpet in the school band before learning how to play piano, he’d then take those talents to Southern University where he played in the Human Jukebox Marching Band — where he picked up the name Mr. Hanky Beats.

AllHipHop: You’re from East Atlanta, how does that play into your life and career?

Mr. Hanky Beats: Definitely from East Atlanta, went to McNair High School, Moreland Avenue area. It was cool man. A lot of people I grew up with are household names right now, people like Gucci Mane, Ying Yang Twins, a lot of those artists. It was cool.

AllHipHop: Your mom and sister are trained musicians. Was music always going to be your route as well?

Mr. Hanky Beats: Definitely. At one point I thought I was going to be in the NBA, but that didn’t work out. When I didn’t get drafted by the Hawks or the Bulls, I started focusing on my music.

AllHipHop: How did you learn how to produce?

Mr. Hanky Beats: I was a DJ at first, I learned how to do mixing and rock a lot of parties while I was in college. It was an easy transition knowing how to be a DJ and see what people like. I remember when Fruity Loops first came out, I had a trial version and figured it out from there. Started learning the MPC and working the keyboards, connecting all that. It was cool.

AllHipHop: Were there any producers that you looked up to?

Mr. Hanky Beats: I ended up working with one of the main ones I looked up to one time, Mr. Collipark. When I first started producing, I was signed to Collipark Music. We put out Soulja Boy, Hurricane Chris. Did a lot of tracks for Jeezy during that time, then you had people like DJ Toomp. A lot of local producers. Mannie Fresh down in Louisiana when I was in college, he was a major, major influence in everything. A lot of people, Dr. Dre of course. The heavyweights. Scott Storch, the list goes on.

AllHipHop: How did you link in with Mr. Collipark?

Mr. Hanky Beats: Ying Yang Twins was signed to Collipark Music at the time. One of my homeboys I went to college with, John Boy, he had a studio and they used to be up there all the time. When I’d come back from school, they’d literally be up at the studio. I had a beat CD at the time. I was playing beats, we’re chillin’. They said “man, we like them beats.” Okay cool. I didn’t know people got paid for this for real at all, I was just doing it.

It went from there. Another rapper in the area was coming up at the time named Young Joc. He’d dropped his song “It’s Going Down,” it had gone everywhere. I did a lot of work with him and it started growing from there. Once I started working locally, Collipark’s brother Derek hit me and John Boy up and said “I like what you got going on, I want to make y’all a part of the team.” And that was it.

AllHipHop: How would you describe your style of producing?

Mr. Hanky Beats: It’s all over the place. I’ve been blessed to have a lot of hit records. A lot of ‘em from “Living My Best Life” to “California,” to even the City Girls record that I have out right now, “Twerkulator,” none of them really sound the same. They’re not in the same vein. Even the “Walk Around The Club (F Everybody)” record, other records I had influence with, they’re all over the place. Their party, have fun, good records. Even the hood stuff, you gon’ have a good time with it.

AllHipHop: What was your breakthrough as a producer?

Mr. Hanky Beats: My first big, big placement is the one I did around that Collipark time with Cadillac Boys. They were a local group signed to Collipark and signed to Kirk from Love & Hip Hop, which is Rasheeda’s husband. That record led into doing some stuff with Jeezy and Hurricane Chris, it went on from there.

AllHipHop: What was the inspiration behind your name?

Mr. Hanky Beats: I got the name Mr. Hanky while attending Southern University. I was in the band, the world famous Human Jukebox. I was a freshman and back then, they’re called crabs. You had to shave all your hair off. South Park was a very popular cartoon at the time. I straight up shaved all my hair, all my facial hair off. I walked into practice and one of the upperclassmen said “man, you look like Mr. Hanky from South Park.” What? I wasn’t even thinking about it. He said “man, you look just like Mr. Hanky from South Park.” So the name stuck, I rocked with it.

AllHipHop: How did “Smile B####/Living My Best Life” by Lil Duval happen?

Mr. Hanky Beats: That record happened with a DJ, my homeboy Bay Bay. He’s a huge radio DJ out of the Dallas and Shreveport area, shout out to him. I met Bay Bay back when I was with Collipark when we was doing the Hurricane Chris project. Because that song “A Bay Bay” is about the DJ Bay Bay, he’s saying “A Bay Bay, turn up my song.” Bay Bay hit me up and said “I want to do this song, I want you to do the beat.” I said “cool,” so I did the beat. He said “I need to get Lil Duval on it. I want to link y’all up, he wants to do an intro.” So we did the intro, it took about all of 5 minutes. Me and Duval were sitting there choppin it up. He did the “Smile B####” skit he’s doing on Instagram every Friday. He’d do it to a different old school song.

We’re sitting there, he did it. I said “aye man, do you have song for that? You need to put out a song for it.” I had a bunch of beats I did from the “California” era. I did the “Smile B####” on January 4, 2016. He pulled that beat up, he pulled up another beat, and that was it. Once I pulled that beat up, he did “Smile B####” for 4 minutes. There was no “living my best life” part, there was no rap, no verse, no nothing on it. I got the session and thought “let me put it in some format.” He said “who do I send it to?” Because he’s cool with T.I., I said “go ahead and send it to Tip. That’s your buddy, he right there.” He said “nah, I want to do it with somebody different. Let’s send it to Snoop, see what he does.”

2 weeks went by, Snoop didn’t say anything. On a random Friday out the blue, he texted me and said “check your email.” Snoop filled in the hook, the chorus, and did a verse to it. We got back in the studio and he released it, we hadn’t had the sample cleared or anything. He just put it out.

AllHipHop: What was your reaction when you heard it?

Mr. Hanky Beats: I called him and said “what you think about it?” He had a rough version of it. He said “man, they loving it on iTunes.” I said “what? iTunes?” It was still the rough mix, it hadn’t been mixed or mastered. Radio people was hitting me up for it so I went along with it. Pretty much like this City Girls situation, it got out and I had to roll with it.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CNX1TQ_Ay0U/

AllHipHop: Talk about the City Girls situation. That’s amazing.

Mr. Hanky Beats: The City Girls song “Twerkulator” was done October, the fall before COVID hit. My guy Slab that you see a lot with Rick Ross, he’s a phenomenal songwriter. He said “I got this idea, I want to do a song for the City Girls called ‘Twerkulator.’ I need an uptempo dance beat.” I said “okay cool,” sent it to him. They did it. They’re supposed to put it out on their album but we couldn’t get the sample cleared for “Planet Rock,” so we weren’t gonna put the song out. Mysteriously about a week or 2 before their album was supposed to drop, the whole album leaked.

“Twerkulator” was supposed to be held back, but it got put out on the leak. Ever since it came out, people said “I like what you did with that City Girls song.” I tried to play it off like “what you talking about? [laughs] I didn’t want any legal issues because it wasn’t cleared at the time. A year later, if I went on my Instagram and searched “Twerkulator” City Girls, it’d be hundreds and hundreds, almost thousands of these tweets talking about “release ‘Twerkulator’!” It started hitting Instagram, I started seeing the challenge on TikTok. It was the #1 song on TikTok the other day.

AllHipHop: How does that make you feel?

Mr. Hanky Beats: It’s exciting but it’s crazy at the same time because we don’t know where we are with it right now. I’ve done 7 different versions of “Twerkulator” since then to get around the sample song. Last time I talked to Coach K, he said “man we gotta get this done. We gotta figure this out.” There might still be some hope for “Twerkulator.”

AllHipHop: Talk about your forthcoming single “Nutty Twerk” with Erica Banks.

The single “Nutty Twerk” is coming out very, very soon with Erica Banks. Shout out to her and 1501. The song, I can’t even describe it. It’s a fun song, but it’s a real song. A guy’s in a situation where a girl is twerking on him, she makes him wet his pants by either twerking or spilling a drink. It can go several different directions. It’s a great party record, Erica Banks went off. It’s a crazy record. The video’s crazy. The DJs are loving it. It’s going to be one of the songs of the summer, along with “Twerkulator.”

AllHipHop: How’d that collab happen?

Mr. Hanky Beats: We already had the record done. The guy Richy Coinz that’s on the record as well, he has a great relationship with her manager. We put the record together, made it happen.

AllHipHop: Bring us back to when you made “On the Way” featuring DJ Luke Nasty.

Mr. Hanky Beats: That’s another beat done around the same time I did “California,” which had Young Dolph, Ricco Barrino, Colonel Loud, and T.I. That was in that same batch of beats that had “Livin My Best Life,” all that. We had “California,” then Luke came out with “Might Be.” Luke came to town because had a show here in Atlanta. His manager Waleed Coyote with EMPIRE, who’s over our account with Empire for “California,” he said “hey man, Luke’s in town. We love your sound.”

We went to this club called Taboo 2 in Atlanta on a Sunday night, I’ll never forget. We got plastered. We went through 2 bottles of Hennessy. I got a video of me and Luke sitting in the back of a BMW, I was playing the beat and he started singing it. He started singing the hook because a girl called him and he’s telling them he was on the way. Luckily, someone caught it. We caught it on tape ‘cause I don’t think any of us remembered it. We went to the studio and that was it. All organic over here.

AllHipHop: What do you make of all these organic relationships?

Mr. Hanky Beats: It’s a thing you gotta have. Nothing’s ever forced. Even with the City Girls situation, we were prepared to make it happen and give them what they needed. It happens. The success of the records and the popularity speaks to that because they’re all records that people can identify with. They’re very relatable records, they aren’t forced. It helps out with the overall success of it.

AllHipHop: How’d you get your producer tag?

Mr. Hanky Beats: The first I tag I got from a young lady, she was in a singing group and had a great British accent. She was joking one day ‘cause she started talking like that. The new one I have is from a young lady who’s British. She said “I can tell that the other person that did it is not authentically British. I’m going to do you a real one.” She went in and did it, that was it.

AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio?

Mr. Hanky Beats: I need a woman, I need several women in the studio. [laughs] I need wings and water.

AllHipHop: You need women at all times?

Mr. Hanky Beats: At all times. I’ma tell you why, because women are brutally honest. They’ll tell you if they like something, if they like a beat, if they don’t. Especially the ones I know, they’re brutally honest. “Ehhh, this okay.” Or “this sounds like somebody else’s stuff,” or “that’s wack.” They’ll tell me straight up. That’s what I generally base everything around because most guys don’t care. They’ll say whatever to speed up the process so we can go to the club or what not. But women will go out and support: they’ll buy tickets, they’ll buy t-shirts. They’ll actually go buy and download things.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CLUkFQ0gQ27/

AllHipHop: Talk about starting your own company called Cultural Resources.

Mr. Hanky Beats: “Nutty Twerk” will be the first record released under Cultural Resources. What’s different is it’s my record featuring Erica Banks and Richy Coinz. I’m using that to launch the label, the company. I have a couple of artists I’m looking at to sign under Cultural Resources.

A very necessary move because as a producer, there’s only so much you can do. I’ll still be making records for other people but look at Dr. Dre, look at all the greats. Puffy brought out Biggie, Dre brought out Snoop, they’re all under their own company. So it’s very necessary as a producer because a lot of times, we’ll be able to get an artist a hot single.

It could be the #1 record in the world, the label comes in and brings in their producers and songwriters, then the whole project fails. It’s mainly to be able to create and see something all the way through without the politics of all the labels getting involved.

AllHipHop: Goals yourself as an artist at this point of your career?

Mr. Hanky Beats: My goal is to create a superstar, I’m doing that right now with a young lady named Kissie Lee. She has a record called “Sheesh” going crazy that I produced with her and LightSkinKeisha. It’s doing very well out here. She got over a million views in 2 or 3 weeks on her video “Sheesh.” Like the Dr. Dre’s and all those people: I can make hits, but now I’m trying to make hits and create superstars.

AllHipHop: Anything else you want to let us know?

Mr. Hanky Beats: A lot of up and coming artists or other artists, they might get intimidated. I’ve heard that before because of the big records I’ve done. They feel as if it’s crazy, but I’m one of the most approachable people ever. I’m still looking to work with more artists. Just ‘cause you hear me with City Girls and all these big huge records, you can hit me up on the Gram and we can make it happen.

Lil Nas X Provokes Christians Again With New Clothing Line

Lil Nas X might as well be set trippin’ with St. Peter.

The chart-topping rapper is at it again, poking his metaphoric pitchfork into the Christian community promoting more apparel that seems to mock their faith.

This time he is hawking an “I Love Jesus” shirt — that might be just as inflammatory as his other merch.

Earlier this spring, Lil Nas X partnered with the New York company MSCHF to dropped his blasphemous limited-edition “Satan Shoes” on the market and stirred up the church folk.

Made in the design of Nike Air Max 97s (and Nike sued him for copyright infringement), the sneaks are black & red, $1,018 a pair and has in the air bubble sole 2.03 fluid ounces of red ink and “one drop” of human blood.

666 of the kicks were sold and then recalled shortly after he dropped his “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” music video.

Now, the 22-year-old has connected with another company called Pizzaslime to sell the new shirts to also coincide with the release of the visual.

Priced at $33 per item, the line features statements like, “I watched the ‘Montero’ video by Lil Nas X and all I got was this lousy shirt and now I’m also gay and love Satan.”

Another one says, “I (heart) Jesus and that one part in the “Montero” music video by Lil Nas X when he gets nasty with the devil because it was a cool form of self-expression and art.”

So what’s the thing about this video?

Well, there is a lot to pull from, but the most disturbing thing might be his sexy lap dance with the devil. Yup … he is straight set tripping Peter over at them Pearly Gates.

People Are Mad Over DJ Envy’s Ma’Khia Bryant Shooting Opinions!

It looks like we’re going to get into the controversy again, this time with DJ envy of the breakfast club. As you know a 16-year-old girl was shot and killed by the police, while wielding a knife against another girl. It is a long and complicated story that I am not about to summarize right now. However, the girl in question should be alive. Her name was Ma’Khia Bryant and she was shot several times because she had a knife. She used it in an offensive manner against another female, who was much older.

Game Says It Is Just Too Hard To Raise Black Children In The United States After Death Of Ma’Khia Bryant

None of that really matters to me, because she should be alive. Anyway, Dr. Umar Johnson appeared again on the Breakfast Club to talk about a number of things, including Ma’Khia Bryant. And DJ Envy jumped in and essentially said that he was on the side of the cups. He said that if the other girl was his daughter and someone was attacking her with a knife then he would want the cops to handle “their business” just like they did with Ma’Khia Bryant. MURDER THO? I don’t want to put words in his mouth, but people are in an uproar over this. So, look at what he said for yourself and let me know what you think in the comments.

That said, I think I know what envy was trying to say, but he said it completely wrong. Like 1000% wrong. This all goes back to what we CALL  social, and political EDUCATION. I think he was speaking out of turn and from a place of emotions. As a father, nobody wants their child to be stabbed, but at the same time this is not the topic that you want to be shooting from the hip from. No pun intended!

Also, what if it was his child that was the aggressor or the one defending herself? Would he be ok with her being SHOT mad times by the COPS? I know not!

This is what he said the first time!

At any rate the interview with Doctor Umar is an interesting one and I recommend you watching it. Check it out below and let me know what you think about that as well.

So, peep our interview with Talib Kweli! Just as good!

Kodak Black Heading To Court This Week Over Rape Allegation

Reports say that the troubled rap star, Kodak Black, will face a judge in court this week to address criminal sexual battery (changed for misconduct) charges lifted against him.

He and his legal team will appear in a Florence County court (in South Carolina) on Wednesday, April 28th for the assault that happened in February of 2016.

The rapper, whose real name is Bill Kapri, is accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at the Treasure City nightclub during a show.

The young lady reported this crime to a Richland County school nurse, who in turn called the local authorities, making them aware of her accusation.

She alleged that he took her to Comfort Inn and Suites in Florence County, ripped off her clothes, bit her, and raped her there.

He was locked up and later released from the Florence County Detention Center on a $100K bond.

At 23-years-old, the “Wake Up in the Sky” artist has had his share of run-ins with the law.

In 2015, he was arrested for weed possession. A year later, the aforementioned sexual battery arrest happened.

Two months after that, April 2016, he was arrested for possession of weapons by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, and several traffic violations.

The next month, May 2016, he was arrested in Broward County on outstanding warrants connected to charges of false imprisonment and armed robbery. He stayed in jail for three months and was later sentenced to one year of house arrest and five years of probation, community service, anger management, and community control supervision programs.

In February of 2017, he was arrested for violating his house arrest sentence and assaulting a Club Climaxx bartender in Miami.

On April 21st of that same year, he was accused of grabbing the arm of his anger management counselor because she threatened to call 911 on him.

He eventually was found guilty of five counts of violating his house arrest and sentenced to 364 days in prison.

In January of 2018, Kodak Black was arrested on more weapons and drug charges. This time child support/ neglect allegations were connected to the charges.

In April of 2019, he was arrested for more weapons charges and during his time locked up has claimed that the jails are trying to kill him.

He was eventually let out of his three-year present sentence for lying on a federal application to buy guns, after being pardoned by President Donald Trump.

Since he was 18 years old, he has been toying for the prison. This might be the example that the rapper has been dreading.

If he is found guilty of the charges on Wednesday, he may face up to 30 days in prison.

Official Book About Mac Miller Coming In October And Here Are The Details

Mac Miller’s estate has announced the release of the upcoming tome, The Book Of Mac: Remembering Mac Miller.

The late rapper’s life, career and legacy is documented in the 320-page book by author and longtime fan of the “Nikes On My Feet” star, Donna-Claire Chesman, which is set for release on October 26th.

The writer interviewed his closest friends and collaborators, including Thundercat, Wiz Khalifa, and Kehlani, for the book.

A description on Amazon describes the book as: “An album-by-album celebration of the life and music of Mac Miller through oral histories, intimate reflections, and critical examinations of his enduring work.”

Kehlani commented: “I want people to remember his humanity as they’re listening to the music, to realize how much bravery and courage it takes to be that honest, be that self-aware, and be that real about things going on internally. He let us witness that entire journey. He never hid that.”

Mac passed away in September 2018 at the age of 26 as a result of mixed drug toxicity.

Last year, his family shared an extended version of his acclaimed album, Circles, which included two new posthumous singles “Right” and “Floating.”

Janet Jackson’s Nip Slip During Super Bowl Subject Of New Documentary

The brains behind blockbuster documentary “Framing Britney Spears” are now working on a film revolving around Janet Jackson’s ‘Nipplegate’ incident during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show.

The pop superstar shocked viewers and upset National Football League bosses and sponsors when she bared a breast during an explosive performance with Justin Timberlake – Britney’s ex-boyfriend.

It’s still not clear who is specifically to blame for the eye-popping moment and the new film aims to explore the drama and the fall-out following Janet’s big reveal.

“It’s going to be all about the fall-out and the suits who f##### over Janet,” a source told the New York Post. “They’re reaching out to everyone who was involved – dancers, stylists, directors. Everyone.”

It’s unlikely Jackson herself will participate, but that’s not important, according to the insider.

“They did the Britney doc without her (Spears), and there’s been more interest in the Super Bowl since that documentary premiered and Justin apologized to (both Spears and Jackson recently),” the source said.

After he was attacked for the way he treated Spears after their split, Justin took to social media and wrote: “I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond. I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right. I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”

The 2004 Super Bowl half-time show drama recently reared up again as Jackson’s former stylist Wayne Scot Lukas promoted his new book, telling the Post Timberlake had encouraged the wardrobe malfunction to compete with Spears.

“He insisted on doing something bigger than (when Spears kissed Madonna at the MTV Video Music Awards),” Scot Lukas explained. “He wanted a reveal.”

He also took issue with the term ‘wardrobe malfunction’, adding, “I wouldn’t call it a wardrobe ‘malfunction’ in a million years. It was the most functioning wardrobe in history. As a stylist, it did what it was intended to do.”

JULESTHEWULF – “SEEYOUTHERE!” Short Film

Over the last few years Alabama has been producing more and more rising stars in the music game, including names like YBN Nahmir, OMB Peezy, and Flo Milli.

Adding to the southern state’s roster is JULESTHEWULF, who has just dropped his self-produced debut EP, ‘SEEYOUTHERE!’

The 29-year-old artist has been a serious guitarist since the age of 14, leading him to play for famous acts including Music Soulchild, and touring with Justin Bieber in 2016.

His experiences in the industry eventually pushed him to take up producing beats for himself, resulting in his 2018 debut single, “Wulf Gang Fist.” The single picked up huge traction on Soundcloud.

Delivering 9 solid tracks produced, engineered, arranged, recorded, and composed by the Montgomery native, JULES taps into his signature R&B trap style. While each song reflects his futuristic sound and neo-soul influences, his transparent expression and seasoned guitar skills steal the show.

“‘SEEYOUTHERE!’ is a well wish to my future self and a f*ck you to to the past,” explains JULES. “This project is about being jaded from past traumas. It’s about love lost, mistrust in the people closest to us, and at the same time having the strength to move forward and be better.”

She then starts to flirt after he calls her “beautiful” replying, “What’s beautiful is your man hands.”

“I know you’re supposed to be shaving, but I’m thinking about something else,” she said suggestively.

The couple was first linked earlier this year after Tyrese announced he had separated from his wife, Samantha Lee, the mother of his two-year-old daughter Soraya.

He also shares 13-year-old Shayla with his first wife, Norma.

Walmart Takes Legal Aim At Kanye West Over Yeezy Logo

The Walmart corporation wants Kanye West to change the logo representing his Yeezy LLC. New reports claim the multinational retail giant filed an objection with the United States Patent and Trademark Office against the billionaire Hip Hop mogul’s 2020 trademark application.

West’s Yeezy emblem is made up of forty dots arranged into eight lines spreading out in different directions which resemble stylized rays of sunlight. West is expected to use the symbol for the sale and marketing of sneakers, clothing, furniture, musical sound recordings, retail store services, and other items.

Walmart is arguing Yeezy LLC’s image is too similar to its 13-year-old, six-lined sun rays design. In the legal paperwork, the company suggests the Yeezy mark could cause consumers to mistakenly believe the two brands are connected.

The Bentonville, Arkansas-headquartered business contends because it “often partners with celebrities to create special lines of products and services,” Yeezy’s logo could cause the “dilution of the distinctive value” of Walmart’s logo. The company reportedly sent an April 19-dated letter to attorneys representing Yeezy LLC.

Yeezy “sunray” logo + Walmart “sunray” logo

“As we referenced in our correspondence in July and August of 2020, January and February of 2021 and our telephone conference in March of 2021, Walmart has repeatedly sought to understand Yeezy’s planned use of the Yeezy Application, with the goal of finding ways in which the Walmart Spark Design and the Yeezy Application can co-exist with one another,” read the letter, according to the New York Post.

The quoted message from Walmart continued, “However, to date, we have not received any conclusive information from Yeezy regarding the planned use or any cooperation from Yeezy in order to find common ground.” In addition, the world’s largest private employer maintains Yeezy’s trademark application should be blocked because the Walmart logo has been in use since 2007 which precedes Yeezy LLC’s filing date of January 3, 2020.

Last June, several Hip Hop artists publicly blasted Walmart for selling fraudulent pendants associated with some of the top rappers in the entertainment industry. After seeing fake replicas of his 4PF jewelry were available for purchase on Walmart.com, Atlanta’s Lil Baby tweeted, “Walmart got me [f#####] up.”

21 Savage later backed up Lil Baby when the Grammy winner discovered bogus “Savage Gang” necklaces were being sold on the Walmart website as well. The I Am > I Was album creator tagged his fellow Georgia-bred rap star on an Instagram Story post with a caption that read, “@lilbaby_1 We finna own 1.”

‘Snowfall’ Star Damson Idris & ‘BGC’ Alumna DreamDoll Address Dating Rumors

Are Damson Idris and Tabatha “DreamDoll” Robinson a couple? Certain sections of the internet were already shipping the Snowfall actor and the “Ah Ah Ah” rapstress because of one picture circulating on social media.

Idris and DreamDoll were photographed together at “Darren & Ritchie’s Oscar Party 2021” which took place the same weekend as the 93rd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday. The two celebrities were flanked in the photo by District Entertainment CEO Brooklyn Johnny and British rapper Giggs.

Despite the fact that there were four different people in the shot taken at the Bel Air Mansion, rumors began spreading that Dream and Damson were secretly seeing each other romantically. They both went on Twitter to dispel the gossip.

“Ok. So don’t pose near women because then we are apparently married. [memo emoji]. Forgive me, I’m still learning. [wine glass emoji],” tweeted Idris on Monday night around 9:30 pm ET.

About an hour later, DreamDoll offered her own comments about the growing speculation. The Bronx-bred entertainer posted, “Imma start nodding my head to say hi to guys. Y’all steady assuming s###.”

While the speculation of a possible new celebrity pairing made the rounds online, Damson Idris was likely celebrating the support of Snowfall‘s loyal fanbase. The April 21 season four finale of the FX crime drama – which was co-created by the late John Singleton – pulled in its highest viewership and 18-49 demo rating of the year.

Dream’s 2021 has also been productive. Since the top of the year, the Bad Girls Club and Love & Hip Hop: New York alumna dropped music videos for “Different Freestyle” and “Collection Freestyle.” Both visuals crossed the 1-million-view mark on Youtube.

In addition, DreamDoll connected with Staten Island’s CJ for “Lil Freak” as well as London’s Shaybo for “Broke Boyz.” It appears the musical merger between Dream and Shaybo is the only official American-British union involving the Life In Plastic mixtape creator since she and the London-born Damson Idris deny being a couple.

Talib Kweli Discusses His ‘Midnight Miracle’ Podcast With Dave Chappelle & Yasiin Bey

Talib Kweli made the transition from emcee to podcaster with his People’s Party series. Since that show’s launch, the Brooklyn-raised rapper has held numerous in-depth conversations with Hip Hop legends, veterans, and newcomers as well as celebrities in other fields.

It was recently announced that Kweli will join with his Black Star musical partner Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) and stand-up comedy icon Dave Chappelle for a new podcast. Their forthcoming The Midnight Miracle is scheduled to premiere on the Luminary network this May.

The three stars recorded more than 100 hours of content in a modified mechanic’s garage called “The Shack” during Chappelle’s 2020 Summer Camp in Yellow Springs, Ohio. According to Luminary, the podcast will provide a “glimpse into the inner lives” of Kweli, Bey, Chappelle, and their friends.

“Making a podcast isn’t the obvious next move for me, but it’s the right one. The Midnight Miracle gives you a look into how me and my friends process the world around us, and I think it will change the way listeners think of what a podcast can be,” said Chappelle in a press release.

Apple Music’s Ebro Darden recently spoke to Kweli about The Midnight Miracle. He said, “The Midnight Miracle is a podcast hosted by myself, Yasiin Bey, and Dave Chappelle. Diamond D has been a guest on this podcast as well as many other luminaries. I’ll just go on record as saying y’all never heard nothing like this. What Chappelle’s Show did for sketch comedy, Midnight Miracle is about to do for podcasts.”

Darden’s interview also included Talib Kweli and Diamond D discussing their upcoming Gotham joint project. The Javotti Media founder and the Diggin’ in the Crates Crew member apparently put the collection together rather quickly.

Diamond D explained, “I sent him about 9 or 10 tracks. He asked for some beats, and I sent him those joints, and when I went to see him about a week later, I said, ‘Which one of those beats did you pick? He said, ‘Oh, nah nah, I did all of them.’ It caught me off-guard, but that was the premise of where we really started and came together.”

Talib Kweli and Diamond D are already considering taking the tandem act on the road for a tour once COVID-19 restrictions are loosened up in the coming months. A Gotham sequel could arrive in the future as well. Kweli stated, “I feel like we want to do another project. We have good momentum right now, we create very quickly. Diamond, let’s announce it right here on Ebro’s show. Gotham 2 is on the way.”

Polo G’s “Rapstar” Remains At No. 1 For A Second Week

Seven days ago, a track by Taurus “Polo G” Bartlett debuted atop the Hot 100. “Rapstar” earned the 22-year-old Chicago native his first Number One on that Billboard chart.

Polo G’s “Rapstar” was able to hold onto the pole position for the second week in a row. For this charting period, the song amassed 40 million streams and sold 2,400 downloads in the United States.

Plus, Polo G’s latest single is a two-time leader of the Streaming Songs, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and Hot Rap Songs charts as well. “Rapstar” also became the second Hip Hop song of 2021 to top the Hot 100 for at least two weeks.

4kGoldn’s “Mood” featuring Iann Dior was the Hot 100 champion twice in January. Over the last four months, Drake’s “What’s Next,” Cardi B’s “Up,” and Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” each spent one week at the chart’s highest point.

“Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” (#4) and “Up” (#9) still sit in the Top 10 region. Former chart-toppers “Leave the Door Open” by Silk Sonic and “Peaches” by Justin Bieber featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon are presently placed at #2 and #3, respectively.

Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” featuring DaBaby (#5), The Weeknd’s “Save Your Tears” (#6), Masked Wolf’s “Astronaut in the Ocean” (#7), Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More” featuring SZA (#8), and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” (#10) round out the rest of this week’s Top 10.

As for what’s next for Polo G, the Columbia Records-signed rhymer is preparing to release his third studio LP tentatively titled Hall of Fame later this year. The forthcoming project will be the follow-up to 2020’s Platinum-certified The Goat album.

Blueface Responds To Accusations He’s Running A Sex Cult

Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly documentary exposed a lot of viewers to the idea of a celebrity potentially leading what was described as a sex cult. R&B singer R. Kelly was eventually charged with multiple state and federal sex-related crimes.

Recently, social media users began questioning if Blueface was following in Kelly’s alleged footsteps by cultivating his own group of women to worship him. Footage posted online by the “Thotiana” rapper sparked concern.

In the clip, Blueface asked several women if they had gotten his signature “Benjamin Franklin” tattoo on the spot. Other women were seen sleeping in at least three sets of bunk beds set up in one room.

The video is apparently connected to the 24-year-old Cash Money West artist’s Blue Girls Club. Blueface went on Twitter to respond to the allegations that he is a controlling cult leader who is causing women physical and psychological harm.

“Wtf is a cult?” tweeted Blueface. He added, “For those who are curious my show is a 3-week series. I move women in from all over the US, fly them out to Cali, put them under one roof. I own 2 homes. I don’t stay there. I take care of all [their] financial needs while they are here. I promote [their] brands etc. We film all day. Tune in.”

Blueface also made sure to address allegations that sexual misconduct could be taking place at the location. “We don’t tolerate any sexual conduct between men and women, so the women do tend to grow interest in each other because of this, but they are adults at the end of the day. It’s only so much I can control, so what they do with each other is [a part] of the show. Subscribe [right now] to see more.”

The Find the Beat album creator even promoted upcoming tryouts for the next installment of his Blue Girls Club content, by writing, “Season 2 is wrapping up if you are interested in being a contestant on season 3 follow my Instagram @bluefasebleedem to see when auditions start.”

Michael Jackson Wins BIG…Like Big Big!

They have tried over and over to tarnish the reputation of one Micheal Jackson. MJ s one of my favorite artists of all times and he holds the record for the greatest selling album of all time – THRILLER. F#ck the Eagles and their greatest hits. They keep trying to bring that up to unseat the true King of Pop.

Today, the accusers took yet another L.

WADE ROBSON TRIED IT!

A court in California has tossed out his sexual abuse lawsuit, but he’s already looking for an appeal. MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures Monday came through with the win as a judge again dismissed Robson’s sexual abuse lawsuit. This is something that Robson has continued to push. He refiled the suit in 2020, only to get bad news today.

The judge said that there was no way for them to control how MJ acting around the kids nor should the bear the fiscal burden from something that happened in the 1990s. These guys have been trying to get to the money for a number of years and failed. They also pushed out that documentary to sway the sea of bad fortune in their favor. It did not work.

The Jackson family really celebrated, especially Taj Jackson who’s been the mouthpiece for the family. I ain’t mad at them. This defamation of their family name has to SUCK!
