BREAKING: Sources Confirm Shock G Of Digital Underground Dead At 57

There is a saying that goes “bad news comes in threes” and the rap community is experiencing the adage firsthand.

According to sources, rap veteran Shock G of Digital Underground has passed away following the tragic death of DMX on April 9th and Black Rob on April 17th.

So far, a cause of death has not been revealed, but a source close to Shock confirmed the news to AllHipHop.com, as did a founding member of the Digital Underground collective.

“34 years ago almost to the day we had a wild idea we can be a hip hop band and take on the world through it all the dream became a reality and the reality became a nightmare for some,” said Digital Underground co-founder, Chopmaster J. “And now he’s awaken from the fame long live shock G Aka Humpty Hump and Rest In Peace my Brotha Greg Jacobs!!!”

The rapper/keyboardist, born Gregory Jacobs, was responsible for a number of influential singles from Digital Underground’s  “Doowutchyalike,” to the group’s smash hit single, “The Humpty Dance,” as his alter ego Humpty Hump.

“The Humpty Dance” hit #1 on Billboard’s Rap Singles chart shortly after the single was released by Tommy Boy Records in early 1990, on their breakthrough album Sex Packets. The catchy tune, and bassline from the song has been sampled by hundreds of artists, ranging from Will Smith and LL Cool J, to Public Enemy and R&B group TLC.

“Our cash cow was Humpty,” Shock G told the Indy Star before a performance in at the Indiana State Fair in 2015. “But behind the scenes, all we did all day on the bus was watch Malcolm X tapes. We’re in that zone of Stokely Carmichael/Kwame Toure. So we were excited about Pac. He was the outlet that (record label) Tommy Boy didn’t allow us.”

Shock G was also instrumental in the development of Tupac Shakur’s career. Shock G introduced Pac to the world on the group’s#### single “Same Song.”

Shock G was also the producer, and featured on Tupac’s breakthrough single “I Get Around,” from the album Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z

Additionally, Shock G produced Tupac’s classic track “So Many Tears” from his album Me Against The World.

Outside of his work with Tupac, Shock G produced tracks for artists like Dr. Dre, Monie Love, Raw Fusion, D.U. group member Money B, Luniz, pop legend Prince, Mac Mall, Murs, KRS-One, and others.

Game Says It Is Just Too Hard To Raise Black Children In The United States After Death Of Ma’Khia Bryant

Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and Game are among the stars sharing their outrage following the shooting death of black teen Ma’Khia Bryant at the hands of an Ohio police officer.

The latest cop-killing controversy took place less than an hour before the guilty verdicts against former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin, who choked George Floyd to death, were read on Tuesday (April 20th), prompting activists to renew calls for police reform and accountability, while remembering the tragic 16-year-old.

Beyonce honored Bryant on her website by posting a picture of the teen smiling, and writing underneath: “We mourn the young life of Ma’Khia Bryant.”

Rapper Game took to Twitter and added: “16 year old Ma’Khia Bryant murdered by police in Columbus Ohio. This is beyond sad… There was absolutely no time between celebrating the conviction of Derek Chauvin & having to mourn Ma’Khia Bryant… This is really numbing!!!

“It’s really scary raising black children in this country. No matter how much we prepare them for these police encounters, they can still be killed.”

And Timberlake added: “Say her name, #MaKhiaBryant.”

Bodycam footage released by law enforcement officials shows Bryant wielding a knife at another female, as a police officer can be heard asking both to get down. The teen then appears to charge at a female pinned against a vehicle and is shot four times.

An unidentified man can also be heard in the video, obtained by the Associated Press, stating, “You didn’t have to shoot her! She’s just a kid, man!”

Bryant was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, Jada Pinkett Smith has posted a photo of the dead teen on Twitter, adding the caption: “Another baby gone. Rest in Love precious #makhiabryant,” while Kehlani rages: “ABOLISH THE F**KING POLICE. the same day we ‘celebrate’ a verdict for another loss that should’ve never happened, a Black child is murdered.”

EARTHGANG Celebrates Earth Day By Launching Community Garden To Help Atlanta Students

Atlanta rap duo EARTHGANG is celebrating Earth Day community by launching a garden project in partnership with Young Middle School in Southwest Atlanta.

In 2019, the students at Jean Childs Young Middle School took a survey, where they revealed food insecurity was one of the biggest barriers to their progress.

EARTHGANG group members Olu and WowGr8 got wind of the issue and resolved to take action by helping to restore a plot of donated land.

“It’s nearly impossible to focus on education, mental health, and financial stability when you don’t have the basic necessities of proper food, shelter, and protection. This project is a gift to future generations,” said Olu.

The rappers are helping to plant a huge community garden to feed the local community.

The garden will also help teach the students at Jean Childs Young Middle School about the advantages of growing and eating healthy food while keeping good diets in addition to enhancing their knowledge about the environment.

“Sustainable living grows more important with each new generation.  Promoting agriculture to youth is essential for changing the scope of what our community considers acceptable nourishment,” added WowGr8.

Trap Manny Talks Highbridge, A Boogie, Empowering People And New Project “IN TRAP WE TRUST”

Trap Manny is here to take over the rap game, and he’s not stopping until he gets to the top.

Hailing from the Highbridge neighborhood in Bronx, New York, the East Coast rapper comes from true humble beginnings, discovering his love for music in a shower booth while he was locked up behind bars. With his cellmate teaching him how to make beats, the rhymes came effortlessly.

With a couple dollars in his pocket, Manny decided to commit to the music thing altogether, releasing “Trenches” in 2018 which speaks volumes to his do-or-die mentality.

With Trap standing for “Take Risks And Pray,” the rising star spits his truth in his lyrics, touching on everything from incarceration to fatherhood to signing to a major label.

He states, “I don’t sound like nobody right now. I’m very unique, and I’m mad versatile. I be tryna sing sometimes. [laughs] My topics in music, my substance I’m bringing and the things I’m talking about.”

Currently a part of A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s Highbridge collective alongside Don Q, whom is a long-time friend, Trap Manny is here to give it his all. Most recently, he released his EP titled “IN TRAP WE TRUST,” with all-star features from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Don Q, Lil Durk, Pop Smoke and Rubi Rose.

AllHipHop: What was the household like growing up in the Bronx?

Trap Manny: It was tough. I didn’t always have everything I wanted, but my mom made it work. I was in a group home, so around that time music came into play.

AllHipHop: Artists you listened to coming up?

Trap Manny: DMX, Jay-Z, Cam’ron. I liked him too, he was a big influence. He’s a trendsetter. He’s flamboyant in his own way. He’s arrogant in a sense, but it didn’t hurt him. He was overly confident, but not so much to where it made you not like him.

AllHipHop: I know you started making music behind bars, right?

Trap Manny: When I went to prison, I had this dude with me. He used to be in the cell with me, he was big into pushing me to try it.

AllHipHop: You were locked up for 6 years, biggest lesson you learned?

Trap Manny: Be patient. Patience, your pride, and ego. Sometimes you gotta tuck that s###. A lot of times I had to tuck that s### when I was in prison, especially the last 2 or 3 weeks in prison when everybody knows you’re going home. The guards know, all the d####### CEOs know you’re going home so they gon’ test you and you gotta tuck your pride. You either gonna swing back that last day or you’ll say “I’ma eat this and go home.”

AllHipHop: IN TRAP WE TRUST out now, how are you feeling?

Trap Manny: I feel good. I’m getting good responses from it. It was a little warm up, I’ma drop another project soon too.

AllHipHop: Talk about the meaning behind the title.

Trap Manny: IN TRAP WE TRUST, in music it’s saying give me my shot. I think I deserve a shot, so trust in me and trust in my music. Me trusting in myself, that’s what it’s all about. Trusting in myself and being more confident in the studio about s### I want to say, how I want to say it, and how I want to get it out.

AllHipHop: Talk about getting Don Q and Durk on the intro track “Shoot.”

Trap Manny: We was working on that song. My man Jay The Great, he did the beat. He sent me the beat and I got on the hook, started doing the hook originally. Durk wasn’t there, but Don got on the beat. Durk was already in tune with what I had going on in the beginning, when I first got signed, so he already knew. It was all Don, he’s the one that mentioned my name in the room when everybody was there. He always throws the rope down.

Even back in the days when I was plain in the back, he always said, “Yo, my man Trap got some s### coming for y’all.” He threw me the rope, Durk already heard one or two songs by me. They’re in LA, Don put that song on and Durk said “yeah I’m getting on this.” He got on the song, it was fun. Don sent it back to me and said “Durk got on the song for you, he f###### with you.” I said “word?” Then he sent me the song, I’m like “oh s###!” [laughs]

AllHipHop: What was your reaction when you heard it back?

Trap Manny: I aleady f### with Durk. He’s at his peak, he’s doing his thing right now with his career. He came a long way too. It’s Lil Durk and Future, those two I look at as far as longevity. They’ve been around for a long time, they finally getting to reach their potential.

AllHipHop: How did you and A Boogie cross paths initially?

Trap Manny: I always lived in Highbridge, was back and forth between jail. When he first went back to Florida, I was locked up. I was still in prison. When he came out, I’d come home but I did a violation. My first violation, that’s when I first started hearing about bro. I been knew bro, but I didn’t know he did music. I heard of him, but we never chilled because I was in and out of prison. Everybody in the circle, they already know of me too.

It wasn’t really too much of a disconnect because we all know the same people. It was pretty organic, he’s from the neighborhood. My bro D3, he told me, “Bro come outside. People know you, they just gotta put the face to it.” And that’s what I did, I came outside when everything was going on. I was still doing my thing, Don’s bringing me around. It was over. I really knew everybody before this.

AllHipHop: What does it mean to be signed to the Highbridge collective?

Trap Manny: It feels good. I was in prison so to come home and see it happen the way it did, to actually be a part of it — from coming to shows and being in the background to being a real player on the team, it’s amazing. I always knew I had some talent in me, but I didn’t know it was going to turn out like this. It’s great, it’s beautiful. It’s a neighborhood thing too so it’s real beautiful. It’s a beautiful thing.

AllHipHop: What’s the best piece of advice A Boogie has given you?

Trap Manny: S###, a lot of little things we talk about. I can’t really pinpoint it but probably being on the stage and stage performance. Certain little things like making eye contact with the crowd, how to move around. In the beginning, I’d be a little stiff. S###, just give it y’all all. That’s pretty much what he told me, go hard with it. Everytime we get on a song together, I’m giving my all. Go hard with it, that’s it.

AllHipHop: What’s one thing you want fans to get from this project?

Trap Manny: A fresh ear for my sound. I don’t sound like nobody, my sound is unique. I got a lot of topics on there. I can switch it up, I’m very versatile. I’m a hustler at the same time too, but I’m an artist. I got more music in store for y’all.

AllHipHop: How was linking with Rubi Rose on “Mine”? That’s my girl!

Trap Manny: Rubi’s dope as f###. I always admire her voice from her first song, “Big Mouth.” From a woman’s perspective, this song’s cool. Even from a guy’s perspective, I can hear it so that intrigued me. She’s a dope artist. I was f###### with that song, I had did the “Mine” song already with DJ Choose.

They said “you should put a girl on it.” I talked to a few of my female friends I hang out with, we be outside or whatever. They said “yeah, Rubi Rose.” I said “yeah, I like her too.” I usually go around asking about certain things like that, but I’d already did my own research. When I realized she had a little thing going on, yeah let me get her now before she takes off. She did the record, she did the video. It was cool. She’s cool.

AllHipHop: What was the highlight of the video?

Trap Manny: Probably when she was all touching on me. [laughs] That was the highlight. That was the best part to me.

AllHipHop: What inspired you to sample the Sisqo song?

Trap Manny: My mom, she’s an older lady. I got aunties and uncles so growing up, I was listening to their music and whatever they’re playing in Atlanta. That was one of them songs from back in the day, “Thong Song.” I remember watching the video and seeing Sisqo being one of the biggest artists in the world behind that song, so let’s recreate these vibes. I got an old soul when it comes to music. I got a lot of old s### from listening with my grandmother and my mom, mixed with the new s### that I like. The new sound I like. I try to put it together and incorporate it, bring a new sound to it.

AllHipHop: What do you want fans to get from your story?

Trap Manny: Don’t stop! Never stop, keep going. It’s gonna be some hurdles, some hiccups. You might meet some people that don’t like you or f### with your s###, don’t let that stop you or detour you from doing whatever it is you really want. Nothing happens overnight too. Rome wasn’t built overnight. You gotta take your success and hold on to it. Keep pushing forward, don’t just stop there. Don’t get complacent. Don’t stop, keep going no matter what. Make sure you love it too, you gotta love whatever it is that you’re doing too. If you don’t got no love for it or don’t wanna see yourself being at the top, then you should try something else.

AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio?

Trap Manny: Nice girls, some cool vibes to see what they think. I like having females in the studio for certain music that I make. Water or apple juice, I like apple juice. And weed, I gotta have some weed.

AllHipHop: How would you describe your drip?

Trap Manny: I just do me man, I’m GQ. I think I could be on the front of the GQ magazine. [laughs] I’m Manny, I do me. I gotta have that s### on, some Highbridge s###.

AllHipHop: Any goals for yourself at this point in your career?

Trap Manny: I’ma get a Platinum plaque or a Gold one. That’s not even a goal, I know I’ma get one. Once I do reach that status to where I have money for myself, just to empower other people. That’s what my goal is: to empower everybody around me. Doing whatever they need, help them be successful. Tor the help they’re giving me, just return it back. Whoever helped me get this far from writers to producers, I want to empower them with whatever they need to make it better. Make their situations better, make their lives better for helping me. That’s all I want to do, return it back.

AllHipHop: What can we expect next from you?

Trap Manny: I got another project. I got another video coming off the project. It’s called “Drip,” going to be released soon. I’m gonna come back with another project in June, in the summertime put out a mixtape. I’ma aim to put 10 songs on it.

AllHipHop: Anything else you wanna let us know?

Trap Manny: Keep streaming In Trap We Trust. I got one of the best tapes out right now, from top to bottom.

AllHipHop: Why?

Trap Manny: It’s a new sound. I got a whole vibe for everything on that tape. I got a whole vibe for every vibe you tryna look for. You can go to Puerto Rico right now and play that tape right now, you gon’ find something to get into the water too and do something to have a good time. I’m confident in bringing a whole lot of vibes.

The Hip-Hop star will voice a character based on himself in the animated show, inspired by artist Gilbert Shelton’s 1960s stoner series “The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers,” which already boasts cast members like Woody Harrelson, John Goodman, Tiffany Haddish, and Pete Davidson.

He added, “I wanted to do something outside of rap, creatively, and this was a great fit. It’s hilarious and it just ‘feels stoner’ like I am. The show is really about what it says it’s about.

“Working on my episode was laid back and fun, while still challenging creatively and pushing boundaries.”

Swae Lee Reveals Jailed Brother’s Mindstate When He Killed Their Dad

Rapper Swae Lee’s half-brother shot and killed their father after “hearing voices” in his head.

Michael Sullivan was charged with first-degree murder last month (Mar21), more than a year after the fatal shooting of Floyd Sullivan, Jr. in Mississippi in January 2020.

Rae Sremmurd’s Half-Brother Charged With First-Degree Murder Of His Father

Rae Sremmurd star Swae, who was Floyd’s stepson, admits the family tragedy turned his life “upside-down” and he only agreed to talk to Michael in a call from jail after their mother, Bernadette Walker, begged the rapper to reach out.

“I haven’t talked to my lil’ bro since it happened,” he confessed in his new Snapchat series, Swae Meets World. “It’s just been in my head, but I know there’s gon’ come a time when I gotta face my demons.

“I gotta go back to Mississippi and just come face-to-face and just get to the bottom of it, once and for all.”

Sharing how he was struggling with his conflicting emotions, he added, “My stepdad’s my real dad… He raised me, taught me everything I know… I don’t know if I can talk to my brother after what he did.”

Swae chronicled the trip home and his chat with Michael – nine months after the murder – in the latest episode, which dropped on Wednesday (April 21st).

As he reunited with his mom following a visit to Floyd’s grave, she said, “I still can’t really believe it happened… I really hope that you can still be his (Michael’s) brother and forgive him. He’s still my son.”

In the phone call, Bernadette asks Michael to explain what was going through his mind at the time of the killing, and he told Swae: “I was hearing voices, and I thought dad was trying to make me kill myself…”

Bernadette previously revealed Michael suffered from Schizoaffective disorder, and may have been off his medication prior to the incident, and Swae is now starting to realize just how troubled his youngest brother had been growing up.

He reflected: “I always feel like my brother was battling with us, battling with everything, battling with mom and dad (when he was younger), but whatever he’s going through, like, mental health, this s**t is really serious.”

“I ain’t never gonna understand that thought process in that situation of why he did what he did, but he’s still lil’ bro,” Swae shared.

“It’s like two parts of me: one, I wanna make sure you (Michael) good, and one is angry like, ‘D**n bro, you took my pops away (sic).'”

He concludes the episode by admitting he is still working through the grieving process as he hopes to one day move past the heartbreaking situation.

“I don’t know if I can make peace with what happened to my family,” he said. “This ain’t something that just go away, but with time comes forgiveness. You gotta keep moving forward. If you’re living in the past, how you gon’ move into the future (sic)?”

Swae performs as one half of hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd with his brother Slim Jxmmi.

Many wondered how could this happen to such a beloved, well-known and seemingly successful rapper. Also, after he was so instrumental in the resurgence of Bad Boy Records post-Biggie, that many looked towards Sean “Diddy” Combs as partial reasoning for his untimely tragic death.

However, the Bad Boy mogul, who goes by Love now is presently paying for funeral services according to numerous reports including AllHipHop. There has also been a push for a union or some form of health insurance for artists as well. Cordae Returns With ‘Just Until’ EP Featuring Q-Tip & Young Thug

Cordae earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album with 2019’s The Lost Boy. The Maryland-bred emcee is back today (April 22) with a four-pack of tracks.

Just Until… arrived this morning via Atlantic Records. Cordae recruited A Tribe Called Quest legend Q-Tip and YSL leader Young Thug for the EP.

Fans online appeared to be excited about the former YBN collective member returning with new tunes. Cordae’s name was one of the top trending topics on Twitter after Just Until… dropped.

The Lost Boy helped establish Cordae as a rising Hip Hop star to keep an eye on. After the project hit DSPs two years ago, the 23-year-old rapper racked up millions of YouTube views for Gifted” featuring Roddy Ricch and “The Parables.”

Cordae is back to focusing on putting out songs, but the “More Life” rhymer was recently in the headlines for parting ways from YBN. He later inserted himself in YBN Almighty Jay’s issues with ART@WAR label founder James McMillan.

In addition, Cordae made mainstream news around the world because of his relationship with 2-time U.S. Open tennis champion Naomi Osaka. The couple took part in a light-hearted quiz for GQ.

Quando Rondo Says “End Of Story” Song Title Was Not A King Von Diss

“Blood on your brother on the ground, go and pick your mans up. Damn right, we scrеaming self-defense, he shouldn’t have never put his hands on me,” raps Quando Rondo on his “End of Story” track.

The song was Quando’s response to the November 2020 shooting in Atlanta that left Dayvon “King Von” Bennett dead. Timothy “Lul Timm” Leeks, a close associate of Quando Rondo, was arrested in connection to the case.

When “End of Story” dropped, some listeners took the song and its title as a diss directed at King Von. Especially since the deceased Chicago native had multiple records called “Crazy Story.”

Earlier this month, Quando sat down with Angela Yee for an interview. The conversation was released in parts over several weeks. The latest installment – also titled “End of Story” – included the Savannah-raised entertainer discussing the controversy surrounding his “End of Story” song.

“Me saying ‘End of Story’ is just me saying, ‘This is the end of the story,’” Quando told The Breakfast Club radio host. “I had no intentions, to be honest with you, ma’am, I never knew bro even had three/four different songs called ‘Crazy Stories.’”

The Atlantic-signed rapper continued, “I knew about the one. But you know how this rap s### is. I do music. I don’t pay attention to other people’s music like that, ma’am… It was just supposed to be like, ‘This is the end of the discussion.’”

Nearly immediately after the fatal incident outside Atlanta’s Monaco Hookah Lounge, sources connected to Quando claimed Lul Timm was acting in self-defense. Quando spoke about the night of King Von’s death with Yee in two other YouTube videos entitled “November 6th.”

Lul Timm was charged with felony murder in Fulton County, Georgia for the killing of King Von. He was released from jail on a $100,000 bond.

FRE$H Recalls Advice From Russell Simmons, Running A Record Label And His Latest Project “Still Summer Somewhere”

FRE$H is back like he never left.

You may recognize the Houston native from his days mobbing with Young Money, but he’s come a long way since. A versatile recording artist if there ever was one, FRE$H, real name Supreme Williams, speaks his truth and creates from a place of vulnerability, unleashing nothing short of good vibrations and positive energy.

He states, “I’m always a glass-half-full person anyway. Even before the pandemic, optimism is my thing. You gotta have that positive energy around you. You gotta really produce it, in order to keep going in this world.”

With his roots in Houston, Fre$h knows a thing about hard-hitting production, impeccable lyricism, and impressive melody… and that carries over to the new music he’s recording today. Most recently, he unleashed his new EP titled “Still Summer Somewhere,” this time inspired by dancehall and Afrobeats.

AllHipHop spoke with Fre$h in downtown Los Angeles, who was rocking his hoodie from his fire new merch, which coincides with the new project.

AllHipHop: You’ve been travelling all over. How was Christmas in Aruba?

FRE$H: That s### was amazing! It was my second time going. It was super cool. I brought my mom out there so we spent Christmas together. Then I went to Columbia for a week and some change, that was beautiful. Now we finna go to Puerto Rico.

AllHipHop: Do you be traveling with friends, family?

FRE$H: Yeah, Squalla’s coming with us this time. It’s really finna be the gang this time, all the Fresh Lxrds going. This our first trip together. Squalla don’t have his passport, so we demoted to going to Puerto Rico only. I wanted to go somewhere more exotic, but we gon’ accommodate little bro.

AllHipHop: Talk about your Fresh Muzik LLC label.

FRE$H: All the homies, we trying to make this bigger than life. We got Squalla, MC Beezy, Mike Zombie, Don Juligans.

AllHipHop: Mike’s from Jersey right?

FRE$H: Yeah, Jersey Mike! What’s funny, I met Mike through my boy ISM who produced frēsh•ism. We had all linked up ironically at Coachella. We all rented a crib at Coachella, that’s when me and Mike really got cool. From that point on, we’re rocking. We started working together. It became a thing where he’s coming over to the crib everyday. We’re always linking up, going to the studio. We’re all getting lit, it happened organically. Now with Squalla finally moving to LA, we all been kicking it. Especially during the pandemic, that’s when we got the tightest because during that time, we’re always at my crib.

I got the studio set up at the house as well so we started making music. That’s how the Don Juligans came about. As far as Beezy, we met back in Houston years ago and formed a friendship. I remember telling Squalla, “you my favorite rapper from Houston.” When I heard him rap, damn! I was shocked because I liked who he was, he’s always smiling. Every time I see him in the club, he’s always smiling. Always lit. I didn’t even know he rapped at first, but when we heard him rap, damn this n*gga hard! We built it from there.

AllHipHop: “Bottomless Mimosas” is such a vibe, what inspired the record?

FRE$H: I got the concept from a situation that had happened. There was this girl, she had went and had bottomless mimosas with her friends. When she came to my house, it was crazy! Whoa, I ain’t never ever seen you act like that! [laughs]

AllHipHop: What was the creative process behind your new project, Still Summer Somewhere?

FRE$H: You know what, it was recorded before because I was supposed to drop this last year, then the pandemic happened because I had a whole listening party for the “Bottomless Mimosa” single. Right after that, the world shut down. I’m not finna drop this amidst chaos, we don’t even know what’s going on. So I held it for a year, finally put it out.

AllHipHop: Do you feel like it’s the perfect time with the world opening back up?

FRE$H: I do. It’s great timing, especially with everybody so anxious to be outside. The music fits the vibe of outside.

AllHipHop: The project is inspired by dancehall and Afrobeats, were you listening to anyone when creating the project?

FRE$H: When I made it, I wasn’t listening to anything ironically. I was making it off my inspiration, I remember hearing the music and diving in. When I was in Aruba, I really spent a lot of time listening to Wizkid. His album, he’s my favorite artist now over there. I thought “this dude’s dope!” I went to listen to his older stuff and it’s cool, but this last project he put together sounds so well-produced. His vocals sound good, it’s a dope project. I’ve been jamming that lately. I had someone make me a playlist with all the top Afrobeats artists. It’s a lot of guys, I don’t want to butcher their names. [laughs] It’s some good songs, I know that.

AllHipHop: How did it feel to celebrate with close friends at the brunch on Saturday?

FRE$H: It was great! When I have these events, I don’t really expect much. For one, I’m from Houston. Out here, I don’t expect a lot of people to come or be in the mix, but a lot of people do come show love when I have stuff. I’m thankful ‘cause being from a whole other state, you wouldn’t expect to have this many supporters out here. Anytime I do something, it’s really the same people that always come to support me.

AllHipHop: What was your first taste of the music industry?

FRE$H: Getting signed, because I moved to Atlanta after my freshman year in college. I got signed 8 months after being there, so my first taste in the industry was my deal with Def Jam. Working with DJ Toomp and getting discovered by Russell Simmons, that’s how it began.

AllHipHop: What are those early conversations with Russell Simmons?

FRE$H: Man, you know what Russell told me when I was 19? He told me I should invest in water. I wish I would’ve listened to him, I didn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. I’m a kid fresh out the projects, water? I’m tryna get some syrup, he’s talking about some water. I wish I would‘ve listened, but I didn’t have the mental capacity at the time to understand the jewels and knowledge he’s giving me.

Russell always liked me. He always motivated me. He always talked to me about my work ethic. He even told me that I reminded him of Pac. I’m like “what are you talking about?” At the time, I didn’t understand it because it was such a big compliment. He was talking about my work ethic, I really have a dynamic work ethic if I could say so myself. I’m literally sitting on over 500 songs of recent music. I was just with one of my engineers, I haven’t recorded with him in about 3 years, he said he has 192 songs that we did within a 2-year timespan. I got a lot of music.

AllHipHop: You going to unleash all that music?

FRE$H: Of course! I had to get into a situation that allows me to release music as fast as I make it. That’s the hardest thing, you don’t want to drop music and nobody gets to hear and appreciate it. You gotta get somewhere where they support everything that you do. Being over there at Cinq with Diana and Tmah, they really gravitate towards how rapidly you want to release the music. Every 3 weeks, you gon’ hear something new.

AllHipHop: Talk about your partnership with Cinq, it’s independent right?

FRE$H: Yeah, it is. I’m over here with Diana, she’s Head of Marketing over there. Tmah’s head A&R over there. It’s a good group of people man. They’re very quick to respond, very transparent. Shout out to Barry, get Barry on the phone. They like everything we’re doing so I’m enjoying how we’re able to feed the fans with all this good music we’ve been sitting on and creating.

AllHipHop: 3 things you need in studio?

FRE$H: A good beat, some water, and some weed.

AllHipHop: Any goals at this point of your career?

FRE$H: To make sure that people recognize the brand as much as they know me. Make sure my homies get in a position so they can take care of their people and their family, because I really believe in them as much as I believe in myself. I want everybody to glo up and get some money.

Killah Calico – It Still Aint Kool 2 Snitch Ft. Pistol

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgJzstWrlXc[/embedyt]

Killah Calico is back with the third installment of his video series. This time around he recruited Pistol, a Nashville legend for an updated version of Pistol’s street anthem titled, “It Ain’t Cool to Snitch”, originally released in 2000. The production features another Nashville legend Fate Eastwood, creating a new sound for the record.

The visual is beyond the industry standard and feels more like scenes from a movie than a music video. Killah Calico seems to level up with each release and has us locked in and waiting for the drop of his highly anticipated project “Da Man On Tha Low”.

Pretty Ricky Group Member Baby Blue Shot, In Critical Condition

Pretty Ricky group member Baby Blue is in the hospital, fighting for his life in Davie, Florida.

According to reports, Baby Blue and a friend were targeted by two armed suspects at the Sparez Bowling Alley. The rapper was promoting his new single, “Jerry Rice,” when things went left on April 19th, according to reports.

The two suspects approached Baby Blue and attempted to snatch his gold chain, which sparked a brawl.

Baby Blue, born Diamond Blue Smith, was shot in the upper left chest.  He was sent to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The cops are looking for the two suspects. One was wearing a black hoodie with a face covering, and the other suspect was dressed in a grey hoodie with face covering as well.

The shooting is the latest bad news for Baby Blue.

In October of 2020, Baby Blue was charged with being involved in a Paycheck Protection Program scam, which took in more than $24 million.

Baby Blue was charged with forging documents to get over $1 million in ill-gotten proceeds from the fund. He is still awaiting trial along with 11 other defendants who are charged with wire fraud, bank fraud, and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
