Jeezy is on pace to have a very memorable week. This Thursday, he will go up against his longtime rival, Gucci Mane, at the next Verzuz battle taking place in his hometown of Atlanta.
On the following day, November 20, Jeezy is set to release his next studio LP. The Recession 2 is the sequel to one of the southern rapper’s most well-received albums.
Jeezy previously announced The Recession 2 will arrive on November 20. He has now unveiled the official cover art for the collection. The image was met with a mixed reaction online.
The original The Recession came out in 2008. It is widely viewed as a classic for the Atlanta resident. His last full-length album was also a sequel – 2019’s TM104: The Legend of the Snowman.
If you are considering the word “spirits” as an otherworldly energy … well … yup … a good rap song can possess you, taking you to another place.
If you are talking about “spirits” as in “a taste of something that gets you nice,” well … yup … many rappers turned to drinking in efforts fuel their grooves, light up a party, and now those that have moved from simply performing and have turned into moguls are investing in alcohol to expand their entertainment brands.
Puff, Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and Lil Wayne all have brands in this space, but now have to move over to make room for music legend, James “J” Prince.
J Prince is the CEO of Houston-based Rap-a-Lot Records, boxing manager to the sport’s top talents, such as Andre Ward and previously Floyd Mayweather Jr., and mentor to hundreds who have entered into the culture as music executives.
A man who believes in making magic out of mustard seeds, he has recently launched his adult beverage called “Loyalty.”
J Prince speaks about his new investment and why he chose to do wine versus a whiskey or a brandy.
“Wine has become my wind-down beverage of choice.” Loyalty founder, J Prince
J Prince’s new brand Loyalty wine
“As an entrepreneur, I’ve always believed in starting businesses that spoke to me and my lifestyle, he revealed. “Maison Le Star is a top producer of winemaking grapes and the perfect partner in this business.”
Loyalty is a limited-edition adult beverage collection, now available to the public, that offers several different types of wine sourced by the French winery, Maison Le Star: Rosè, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Merlot.
The brand’s mantra is “exquisite taste deserves premium packaging.” This is why they have a screwcap closure that is “donned with a crown to celebrate the royalty in the one who partakes of the beautifully balanced and deliciously complex wines.”
“As a major French wine player, we at Maison Le Star are very proud and truly honored that J Prince decided to trust us with this amazing project,” explained Chloe Chadeau, Maison Le Star’s US Export Manager. “He’s been an inspiration throughout this journey, and all of our team gave the best to meet the expectations of this incredible wine collection. As a business partner, we will continue to show J Prince that Respect and Loyalty are values we cherish at Maison Le Star.”
On his social media, he thanked all of those who have supported him and dedicated the venture to them.
He captioned, “Can YOU toast to Loyalty? To the ones that Keep It Real, Keep It Gangsta, Never Quit, Never Snitch, Honor The Codes, Stay Loyal, and Never Allow Jealousy And Hate To Contaminate Your Heart this one is for You. You deserve it. A Toast to Loyalty. @loyaltywines 🍷 🥂”.”
The podcast world has gotten a little more interesting as Common, one of the most celebrated rappers in history, interviews Nas, arguably the greatest lyricist to touch the mic.
The Chicago rapper, whose real name is Lonnie Corant Jaman Shuka Rashid Lynn Jr., has recently launched his new six-episode series called Audible original “Mind Power Mixtape” which debuts Thursday, November 19 exclusively on Audible, as part of the Audible Plus catalog.
One of the features is the “Ether” emcee and the two spoke about how he came to learn about systemic racism as a child. He tells how his mother broke down the serious bigotry that unfortunately will follow him all his days.
Nas told the Academy Award-winner, “I knew [about racism] early because my mom would teach me all of that.”
“Be careful with a water gun, son, the cops kill Black kids for water guns,” he continued in as he remembered his mother’s voice. “Be careful with toy guns, be careful with this, be careful with that, because they will want to lock you up.”
Because his mother was from North Carolina, she was concerned that her boys might get hemmed up by New York’s law enforcement, who have always seemed to have issues with young Black men.
“She was born in the south, in North Carolina, so she came to New York and that’s where I was born. She was telling me things to watch out for so I heard it from her first, and it just all made sense because when you look out and see what’s happening in your community, you go, this ain’t how cops act on TV.”
Nas further explained how he felt when he first realized that the social ramification of his race prohibited him to dream as big as the white kids his age.
“You’re like wait a minute, you go from being in kindergarten, I want to be a fireman, I want to be a police officer because the way people push it on TV or wherever … those are the nice guys … but then you see something else in your community,” he shared. “And you’re like, this is only happening here. Don’t get me wrong, there’s white people that are getting jammed up by police too, poor whites, but it’s going down in the hood. I saw that and it all made sense.”
Common also asked Nas what he would do if he, in fact, ruled the world referencing his 1996 hit song, “If I Ruled the World.”
The podcast has tons of gems like this.
Also interviewed in the series are the following: Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali, renowned ballerina Misty Copeland, comic Hasan Minhaj, activist-lawyer Bryan Stevenson, and his actress-comedian girlfriend Tiffany Haddish.
Common’s “Mind Power Mixtape” is exclusively on Audible, as part of the Audible Plus catalog.
It has been 17 years since 50 Cent dropped “In Da Club,” his hit song on his debut studio album Get Rich or Die Tryin’.
And it has taken almost two decades for the video for that song to gain 1 billion views on YouTube.
“In Da Club” is now the second Rap/Hip Hop music video that was released before YouTube became the go to location to watch music videos, to obtain this milestone.
Fif now joins the man that gave him his biggest opportunity, Eminem in this elite club.
Eminem’s “Without Me” is the first rapper to hit 10 figure mark.
Other musicians, whose musical genres range from rock to R&B to alternative, that are also in the billy view club are Nirvana, Queen, Guns N’ Roses, Whitney Houston, The Cranberries and a-ha.
“In Da Club” was directed by Philip Atwell, who also worked on projects with Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop, and others. It also won several honors such as Best Rap Video and Best New Artist at the 2003 VMAs and was nominated for Video Of The Year.
The song also hit #1 on the Billboard top 200 charts and was a part of 9x platinum album that was voted as one of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All-Time.
50 took to his social media to celebrate the honor.
His Instagram and Twitter captions reflected his pride, “1 Billion views 👀not Bad for a kid from South Side. LOL.”
Jamie Foxx has set up a fund with the Global Down Syndrome Foundation in honor of his late sister Deondra Dixon.
As he virtually attended the Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show, which helped raise $1.9 million for the foundation, Foxx announced he would be partnering with the organization’s founder Michelle Sie Whitten to create The DeOndra Dixon Fund.
Further details of the fund have yet to be announced.
Saturday evening also included a touching tribute to Dixon, who died in October at the age of 36, with singer-songwriter Philipp Phillips performing a heartfelt rendition of Gone, Gone, Gone.
Mourning his sibling in a post on Instagram last month, Jamie wrote: “My heart is shattered into a million pieces… Deondra has transitioned. I say transitioned because she will always be alive.
“Anyone who knew my sis knew that she was a bright light. I can’t tell you how many times we have had parties at the house where she has got on the dance floor and stolen the show.”
He concluded: “Deondra you have left a hole in my heart but I will fill it with all of the memories that you gave me. I love you with every ounce of me. Our family is shattered but we will put the pieces back together with your love. And y’all please keep my family in your prayers.”
T.I. and Jeezy were originally slated to duke it out at the coveted “battle,” a series curated by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. However, over the weekend new imagery promoted by Gucci Mane and others pushed a battle between the two trap stars.
Then the memes started! But I am not going to take about the memes, because they make fun of three of the most heralded artists in Hip-Hop. But, the fact is…everybody wants to know what happened with Tip! I know what happened with T.I. But, I cannot completely say. What I can say is that T.I. is “working on something else.” What is that something else? Well, I can tell that we all know, but cannot say. Let us just say that Tip will be doing something that will ultimately work in his favor more than getting in the middle of Jeezy and Gucci.
Gucci no longer plays well with others, so most of us predicted he would never do such a thing. He helped us think that when he tweeted, “Stop asking me about doing a @verzuzonline battle unless they got a million dollars they scared of Wop.” What I think happened is Jeezy – post-T.I. confirmation – said ANOTHER RECENT comment about Gucci and that set it off. Anyway, this is all very interesting and I pray WE THE PEOPLE are the real winners in all of this!Tip recognized this in a comment on IG, “Now THIS…. Is what the people wants to see. Trap Muzik salutes y’all.” Good sport!
Here is some of the sparring between Gucci and Jeezy:
“SAY lil guwop SEE YOU ON THE 19th. DON’T SEND YA CLONE! BIG SNO #R2. Cultural Celebration From ATL.” – Jeezy
“Tell buddy get ready. @verzuzonline nov 19 TrapGod vs SnoCone” – Gucci
Who do you have? Gucci or Jeezy?
I lot of people I know got Gucci. I feel like Gucci was always for the streets and Jeezy floated up just a bit more. I could be wrong!
According to GQ Magazine, Megan thee Stallion says that Canadian rapper Tory Lanez once offered her hush money to not speak publicly about the shooting that happened this summer in California.
Allison P. Davis reported in an exclusive interview with the female superstar, after the magazine selected her as the GQ’s Rapper of the Year, that not only did he try to pay her off, but also her ex-best friend Kelsey.
The journalist quoted the “Savage” rapper as she detailed that night, “[At this point] I’m really scared because this is like right in the middle of all the protesting. Police are just killing everybody for no reason, and I’m thinking, ‘I can’t believe you even think I want to take some money. Like, you just shot me.’ ”
The mind-blowing allegation, that had been floated early in August and September by sources claiming to have knowledge of the shooting, was denied by Lanez’ attorney.
“[Tory] has never offered money to any witness for their silence or for any other reason. Any reports to the contrary are false,” his lawyer said in a statement.
This is not the first time that Megan has mentioned that she was initially afraid to tell law enforcement who the shooter was, because of the recent flurry of police-involved killings and assaults that had resulted in protests and other forms of civil unrest around the world.
Tyler Perry had a strong message for his fans when he collected his People’s Choice Award.
Tyler Perry imparted some words of wisdom as he collected his People’s Champion Award at Sunday’s E! People’s Choice Awards.
Taking the stage, the actor, director and producer explained that, when he was younger, he attempted to avoid high water bills by digging a well – but, after multiple attempts, he never hit water. He was ready to give up and stop looking when he and his neighbor realized how close they actually were to water.
“Why am I talking about digging for water? In this world we’re all digging wells, in our lives, digging wells in relationships, put time and effort and energy and sometimes doesn’t give us what we need,” explained Tyler. “Time and effort and energy in dreams and business and doesn’t give us what we were after. But if you just keep digging, just hear me now, keep digging, you may be four inches away from every gift and blessing you ever wanted in your life.”
The filmmaker continued: “Had I given up — had I given up when I was homeless, sleeping in my car, hungry, had I given up on people you see on the screen right now wouldn’t be part of my dream. People tied into your dreams and destiny, and you’re worthy of getting to your goal. Keep digging, don’t stop.
“Let me tell you something, listen to me, when you get there, to that water and see it coming and know you have what you need, this is what I want you to always remember, make sure that everybody you run into meets you at your worst,” insisted the A Fall from Grace star. “Thank you to all the people who voted for me to have this. I’m really inspired, motivated, moved and I’m going to keep going. God bless you.”
Tyler concluded his message: “Make sure people meet you at your worth.”
danny G has created his own lane as a flow-pop artist, combining his love for hip-hop and pop and adding his own flair. Originally from Colorado but currently based in Nashville, the rising artist creates meaningful records that the masses can relate to.
The 23-year-old is the second oldest in a tight-knit family of 4, whom he spent a lot of time and was very close with. With everyone extremely active, doing sports and outdoor activities, danny was the only musical child in the bunch — in his own words, a “special thing he did.”
Mainly occupied by playing baseball, basketball, and soccer in high school and seen as “the jock guy,” it wasn’t until the choir that he realized music was his biggest passion.
Come 2019, danny decided to pursue music professionally once and for all. With his own niche following on TikTok, he releases his newest single “lose my cell phone,” pairing it with a challenge to his fans to put their cell phone down, even for a day. The goal is to celebrate mindfulness by reconnecting with yourself, without the accompaniment of modern technology.
AllHipHop: Who were you listening to growing up?
danny G: Growing up, it was Andy Grammer, Jack Johnson, Gavin Degraw, The Fray, those guys. Things that were on in my house. Now, it’s definitely changed a lot now. More Russ, Surfaces, and Kid Laroi.
AllHipHop: You’re from Colorado, when did you go to Nashville?
danny G: Nashville was college, I went to Belmont. That’s when I did songwriting at Belmont which was really cool, songwriting was my major which is super unique. I also played soccer there. Moved to Nashville was about 4 years ago, I’ve loved it a lot.
AllHipHop: At what point did you realize you could do music for a living?
danny G: I’ve always loved it. I’ve always known it’s what I want to do. January 2019 is when I really started to lock in, putting all my time into music. I wasn’t playing soccer anymore at that point, and I realized if I put all my focus and had that athlete’s mentality that I had on the soccer field into music I could really make it work. So since 2019 I’ve been all out, working hard every single day. That’s allowed me to grow and continue to learn every day.
AllHipHop: Can you describe flow-pop for us?
danny G: Flow-pop is that thing genre in between pop and hip-hop music. I was a singer first. I wasn’t really rapping until college. Flow-pop will usually have more of a melodic hook, then the verses will be very rhythmic. The production’s more hip-hop leaning. So yeah just that fusion of pop and hip-hop because I’ve always fallen right in the middle of those 2. I’ve definitely started to find my own sound within flow-pop, but as a general definition flow-pop is that middle ground between the two genres.
AllHipHop: What does a song like “lose my cell phone” mean during this time?
danny G: “lose my cell phone” was super special for me, it addresses mental health and the impact technology can have on that. It’s very timely since a lot of people are going through their different things during quarantine. This song is me stepping out of my comfort zone because I’ve always been an optimistic person. Typically my songs are very uplifting, and positive. This was a very honest, raw, real song for me, which is definitely a step I’ve been wanting to take. Mental health is super important to me. I’ve had my share of things I’ve gone through and I want to help other people and putting out a song like this opens up that dialogue and conversation.
AllHipHop: How’d it feel recording this record and being able to use that as a coping mechanism?
danny G: It felt great, music’s definitely been my best coping mechanism. There’s healthy and unhealthy ways to cope with anxiety. I found with music and writing it out, expressing it through melodies and words is one of those healthy ways. It felt like me. Sometimes you write songs to write songs, I was writing this from my heart.
AllHipHop: How often are you on your phone?
danny G: Quite a bit, I’m trying to limit it more. I try to limit myself to a few hours. It’s hard with marketing yourself as an artist because it’s work sometimes when you’re on Instagram. But I can definitely still limit that time and cut it down. I’ve always found when I’m away from my phone, I’m feeling the best.
AllHipHop: How much of a role does TikTok play in your career?
danny G: TikTok’s been really cool, it’s newer for me. I hopped into it during quarantine. Back in March is when I started grinding on TikTok. It’s a platform for me that I’m able to be my full, unedited version of myself. That’s translated into some real fan connection and some real followers that would come out to shows who I’ve gotten to know and would really ride for me. Instagram feels a little more polished, a little more network-y. Tik Tok feels very raw. Right now we’re at 60K and it’s climbing pretty quickly. Really cool to have real growth and real connection with people.
AllHipHop: Talk about the challenge you did with fans to put their phone down.
danny G: On TikTok, we’re trying to get it trending. It’s going well, there’s over a thousand videos. Someone shares their screen time, then you duet the person that shared it, and share your screen time. Everyone can open up and be honest about how much time they’re spending on their phone, compare it to others. A fun little thing. Being honest about how long you’re on your phone and posting it on Tik Tok for everyone to see is a cool thing to do. On Instagram, we’re launching a similar thing, sharing how much time you’re on Instagram, TikTok every day. Spreading awareness, it all ties into the mental health so it’s opening that conversation.
AllHipHop: All your other records are more positive, how’s it feel to step outside your comfort zone?
danny G: It definitely feels nerve-racking, that in itself gave me a little bit of anxiety. But it feels like what I’m supposed to be doing because ultimately, I want to share my message and help people. Putting out this song was definitely a step in that direction. You put out songs because they’re good, catchy songs, but this song I put out because it was a part of me. It feels different. it feels special. It’s what I’ve wanted to be doing for the world.
AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio?
danny G: I need water to stay hydrated. I need snacks because I get really hungry. When I get too hungry, I’m thinking about food instead of making a song. I need a guitar, that’s a good one because guitar’s my main instrument. A lot of times, I’ll lay out the chords before we do anything. So yeah water guitar and snacks.
AllHipHop: Talk about your recent collaboration with Travie McCoy from Gym Class Heroes.
danny G: We made a song called “Long Live,” which was super cool. Travie’s really inspiring because he came down to Nashville and got in the studio with me. That was the beginning of this year so I had a lot less going on, he was so humble. Asking me if I liked what he’s doing, a really cool experience to learn from him. No matter what stage you’re at, be humble and respectful to anyone no matter who they are.
I like that song because youth is a big thing I push: being young, free, innocent. Travie’s definitely older than me. It’s really cool for him and I to come together on the hook: “long live the youth of me.” It’s cool for 2 people in 2 completely different points to sing that message, a powerful one for sure.
AllHipHop: Goals yourself as an artist at this point of your career?
danny G: I want to ultimately have the largest platform I can have. I know what I want to contribute and offer, and how I want to help people. I want to continue to grow a following that’s really connected to me and my vision, a following that knows I’m there for them. I’ll be putting out a whole bunch of music. I want to grow not for the sake of growing, more for the sake of helping people and being there for my fans. So yeah I’m looking to just keep getting bigger, and keep having this message be on a bigger scale so that something like “lose my cell phone” could help even more people.
50 Cent has offered an update on pal Jeremih’s health after the singer and rapper was hospitalized following a positive coronavirus test.
Things were looking grim for the 33-year-old when he was admitted to an Intensive Care Unit and placed on a breathing ventilator, with his friends asking fans for prayers.
“Pray for my boy Jeremih he’s not doing good this covid s**t is real,” wrote 50 Cent, while Chance the Rapper and Big Sean also offered up well wishes and prayers.

Following reports the R&B star is battling a mystery illness, sources revealed he’s currently at a hospital in Chicago where he is fighting for his life.
Insiders originally said the “prognosis is bleak” for the singer, real name Jeremy Phillip Felton, with editors adding “it’s unclear how long he’s been admitted, or how long he’s had the virus… but he is not doing well.”
Jeremih is breathing on a ventilator in the ICU and his condition “has recently gotten worse,” prompting an influx of good wishes from the singer’s musical peers.

Iggy Azalea is “lighter than pre-baby and counting” after welcoming her first son, Onyx, earlier this year.
The “Fancy” rapper is believed to have given birth back in May and, taking to Twitter, the 30-year-old told fans she now weighs less than she did before falling pregnant to her rapper ex Playboi Carti.
“Any other moms who can’t stop dropping weight after having a baby? (Not a brag, genuinely wanna hear if you had this happen),” she penned. “I don’t try/want to lose weight but it’s literally just shedding off me, is it hormonal? Should I be concerned?”
https://www.instagram.com/p/CHgP9g7Ffl_/
Putting her weight loss into context, Iggy said she was “20lbs (9kg) lighter than pre baby and counting,” after sharing multiple photos of her washboard stomach and toned physique to Instagram since becoming a mom.
The star previously hit back at a Twitter user who accused her of turning to surgery to “bounce back” from giving birth, with the Sally Walker star insisting: “All you have to do is watch what you eat while you’re pregnant and already have a six pack prior.
“It’s free and just takes mental strength to stick it out nine months,” added Iggy, who confirmed her split from rapper Playboi Carti in October.
Rapper Benny The Butcher has been discharged from hospital after being shot in a robbery gone wrong on Saturday (November 14th).
Houston police officials in Texas confirmed the New Yorker was injured during an incident at a local Walmart store, when he and his associates were approached by five armed men who demanded their jewelry as they left the store.
Houston Police spokeswoman Jodi Silva said that the group started to remove their chains, but weren’t moving fast enough for one of the robbers, who shot Benny in the leg.
The rapper was hospitalized following the shooting, but a video shared on social media later on Saturday showed Benny, real name Jeremie Pennick, boarding a private jet following the shooting – using crutches to help him walk.
Cops are investigating the shooting but have yet to make any arrests.
Griselda Records founder and recording artist Westside Gunn (born Alvin Lamar Worthy) has parted ways with Eminem’s Shady Records imprint. That revelation was made public over the weekend when Gunn made a visit to The Joe Budden Podcast.
“I’m off Shady. I’m actually a free agent. It feels great. Who Made The Sunshine was it. I already spoke to [Shady Records co-founder Paul Rosenberg]. Everything’s good. Like, everything’s signed, sealed, and delivered. I have my paperwork. I’m off Shady,” declared Westside Gunn.

The Griselda collective released its first Shady Records compilation in 2019. WWCD featured contributions by Buffalo emcees Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, and Benny The Butcher as well as in-house producer Daringer. Eminem even made an appearance on “Bang (Remix).” Raekwon and 50 Cent were featured on WWCD too.
There have been rumblings for a while that the Griselda rappers were unhappy about their relationship with Shady. A week ago, Conway caused confusion on social media after he sent out a cryptic tweet that simply read, “I’m not f##### wit none of them n##### no more.”
Twitter users began speculating whether Conway was directing that message at Shady Records, the BET Hip Hop Awards for not nominating him for Lyricist of the Year, or perhaps another institution or person. The vague Conway tweet came five months after Westside Gunn wrote on Twitter, “I wonder do @ShadyRecords know we’re nominated for a BET AWARD tonight.”
I wonder do @ShadyRecords know we’re nominated for a BET AWARD tonight 🤔🤔
The 38-year-old performer/executive dropped his 2020 projects Pray for Paris and Flygod is an Awesome God II via Griselda Records. October’s Who Made The Sunshine studio LP was credited as a Shady Records/Interscope Records release. Westside Gunn and Benny The Butcher are still listed under the management of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
“I WANT TO THANK the SHADY staff for believing in me early S/O to @mikaelherard it was a journey & a great learning experience and to Big @rosenberg he’s a man of his word much XO,” tweeted Westside Gunn on November 14. He also reposted a few tweets from fans that showed appreciation for his appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast.
In recent days, the Hip Hop world found out The Recession album creator Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins decided to re-up his recording contract and take on a senior advisor role with Def Jam Recordings. Another veteran emcee from Atlanta could be staying with the iconic label as well.
2 Chainz let loose his latest full-length body of work on November 13. The 15-track So Help Me God! was released under exclusive license to Def Jam. The man formerly known as Tity Boi has dropped numerous other albums, such as Based on a T.R.U. Story and Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, via the company.
While speaking with Ebro Darden on Apple Music’s Rap Life Radio, Chainz was asked about his current label situation. The “Feel A Way” rapper told Darden he originally signed a 4-album deal and he negotiated for his master recordings around the release of 2019’s Rap or Go to the League.
Chainz said, “With this one, I thought it was gonna be an amicable split. And me knowing I still have more in the tank… I was just gonna leave and see what God had to offer. And they came back with a few things that were enticing, and we’re working on it. I used to be scared like maybe they won’t promote my project ’cause I’m leaving, but it’s not like that.”
Darden also asked 2 Chainz about his longtime collaborators, Kanye West and Lil Wayne, choosing to back Donald Trump’s controversial presidency. The supporter of President-Elect Joe Biden stated, “Whatever Ye or whatever Wayne did, it didn’t change the way I felt about them individually because they’re friends of mine. When I talk to Wayne, it’s not always about music. When I talk to Ye, it’s rarely about music. Some people have different angles and different ways of expressing themselves and that’s due to something called individuality that we all have.”
Global pop sensation Conkarah has returned with his latest musical offering, the highly-anticipated single, “Everybody Switch (Fatty Fatty).” The song is a rhythmic track that is nicely complimented by the visual that features men and women dancing and curating nice vibes while enjoying life.
In the “Everybody Switch (Fatty Fatty)” visual, directed by Jay Will, Conkarah falls for a beautiful girl and then hits the Jamaican coast for a steamy late-night dance party.
The song and beat are infectious and one can’t help but to move and groove as soon as they hear the song. The visual also beautifully captures the beauty and essence of Jamaica.
Produced by Patrick Romanik (Enrique Iglesias, Becky G), the track comes on the heels of Conkarah’s breakthrough hit single “Banana (Feat. Shaggy)” which has over 1 billion global streams.

Canadian media legend Nardwuar the Human Serviette conducted several memorable Q&As with Lil Uzi Vert over the years. While speaking with the Philadelphia-raised entertainer at the SXSW Festival in 2016, Uzi made comments that stayed with some of his fans for a long time.
“At age 27, I will leave this earth for this man right here. He’s the Pale Emperor,” Uzi told Nardwuar while talking about Shock Rock icon Marilyn Manson. Some people assumed the “XO Tour Llif3” hitmaker was referring to the “27 Club” which is a list of celebrities – including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse – who all died at the age of 27.
Uzi’s words from the Nardwuar interview resurfaced on Twitter this week. One person tagged Lil Uzi vert in a tweet that read, “Nah nah nah @LILUZIVERT you better not die at age 27.” That particular message received a response from the 26-year-old songwriter.
“I let this go for so long I never said I was gonna die. Dont you know leave this earth is a term for taking DMT. I thought I was gonna really be one of those High ass N##### at 27… SAY NO TO DRUGS!!!!!” tweeted Uzi. DMT stands for the psychedelic drug N,N-Dimethyltryptamine.
Lil Uzi later added, “I thought I would be able to handle Dmt at 27 like it’s kinda close to 30 but 30 is gross.” When one user accused him of lying, Uzi responded, “That’s why I never said anything you guys thought the most and it was only about drugs this whole time. SAY NO 2 drugs tho.”
Fellow Hip Hop moguls Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs became the butts of 50’s latest social media jokes. The G-Unit boss uploaded an old photo of Jay-Z and a more recent video of Diddy. Both men were awkwardly diving into pools.
“Rappers can’t dive or swim. I just haven’t been caught yet. LOL,” wrote 50 in his Instagram caption. A couple of rap stars commented under the post. Both California’s Snoop Dogg and New York’s Jadakiss added laughing face emojis.
Back in January of this year, 50 publicly declared he was done going back-and-forth with other people online. That short-lived resolution was a response to the untimely death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant. 50 wrote at the time, “I feel like I have to achieve what I want in life now after this. I have to focus, I’m not arguing with anyone anymore. I’ll deal with it another way if there’s a problem.”
