Did Freddie Gibbs Get Beat Up In Buffalo, NY And Does A Famous Rapper Have His Chain Now?

Over the weekend, Freddie Gibbs was reportedly attacked during a tour stop in Buffalo, New York. As you already know, this is the home of Griselda Records. Gibbs has a beef with Benny The Butcher, as you already should know. I am big fans of these guys! They have underground hits together!

As you know already, the beefs are often between individuals but when the others get involved then it becomes a beef with everybody. And if you’re going to stop in Buffalo, then you should know that Griselda is super heavy out there.

So, on Saturday, May 14, 2022 Freddie Gibbs showed up at the Town Ballroom to perform for his Space Rabbit tour. I’m not exactly sure where the infraction happened but the Internet says it happened at Dinosaur Barbecue.

The person that did most of the talking, says he witnessed it firsthand and said that Gibbs lost his chain a.k.a. it was snatched. He also said that he had to run and his security did not help.

Now this person claims to have video and says if DJ Akademiks taps in, he’ll post the video. I don’t know what AK has to do with it, but hopefully he taps in.

Nevertheless, Gibbs still performed, so will have to see how it develops.

The other thing that I’ve been told specifically is that now Benny has the chain. I don’t know how my source knows that Benny has the chain, but he told me that Benny has the chain now.

This reminds me of Yung Berg from back in the day if you guys remember that. That’s when the city of Detroit took his Transformer chain and the ice went on a world tour for years. I don’t know if he ever even got that chain back. But it was hilarious.

Anyway, Gibbs and Benny, I hope you guys settle this beef! This is not a good look for anybody!

Janet Jackson Presents Icon Award To Mary J. Blige At Billboard Music Awards 2022

Janet Jackson made a surprise appearance at the Billboard Music Awards 2022 Sunday night (May 15) to present the Icon Award to her friend Mary J. Blige.

She received a standing ovation while introducing Mary, referencing many of her biggest hits, including “Just Fine” and “No More Drama,” during her speech.

“Her work has always given us comfort because she sings me, she sings you. I reminisce, but I’m not going to cry because even though sometimes it feels like everyday it rains, I’ve got no more drama,” said Janet Jackson. “I’m just fine with my life, my life, my life, my life in the sunshine.”

The pair then embraced as Mary J. Blige took to the stage to deliver an emotional acceptance speech, holding back tears as she spoke.

“It takes a lot of time, hard work and a lot of surviving trials. What an icon means to be is to overcome obstacles…and be admired,” Mary said as she accepted the award. “I been on this journey for a long time and I didn’t always look the way that you see me now. With a lot of heartache and pain,” she added.

She thanked her family and friends before honoring her fans. “I’m so grateful to have you,” she concluded.

Tiffany Haddish Talks About Her New Collaborations With Snoop Dogg And Lil Wayne

Tiffany Haddish can’t wait to drop her upcoming collaboration with Snoop Dogg and Lil Wayne.

The “Girls Trip” actress recently revealed she is concentrating on her music career.

During an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” she confirmed she has a track in the works with two of the industry’s biggest stars.

“I brought one song to the table, and that’s the theme song for the ‘They Ready’ series on Netflix, the comedy series that I did, and now, we just did another song called Look Like, and I can’t wait for y’all to hear that. It’s me, Snoop, Lil Wayne – it’s fire!”

B-Real Of Cypress Hill Expresses Issue With Onyx Verzuz

I got struck by lightening!

Last night, there was a Verzuz battle with Onyx and Cypress Hill. It went down in Los Angeles, and it was for a period of time a trending topic on Twitter.

However, this was a bit of a different affair than those in the past. Clearly the monetization machine stepped in and removed the normal community battle from Instagram. This means, you had to be a subscribing member of Triller to access the battle of these two Hip-Hop Titans.

Hip Hop 90S GIF by Cypress Hill - Find & Share on GIPHY

So, most of us didn’t see it, including myself. I was very interested in the battle, but sort of forgot about it until the last minute. And then it became highly problematic to access the concert. Well, this fact did not escape B-Real, the lead rapper of Cypress Hill.

He showed the upmost respect for the powers that be and Onyx, but he says he feels they did not get as much exposure as other battles. This it correct.

I think, in addition to the absence of the Instagram platform, it was overall a marketing fail. They could’ve done a better job at pushing this to us fans. In fact, if I’m being completely honest, they could’ve done a better matchup overall. We love both acts independently, but they are a bit of a mismatch to me.

But the real expresses that there was a boxing match to go along with the battle and that was ultimately the worst part of it all. See what he says below.

DJ Skee didn’t know it was going down! How, son?

Online, a lot of people responded with criticism and commentary on Swizz and Tim, as well as the corporations that now own Verzuz. It definitely feels like a major disconnect with the culture now.

What do you think?

Rapper Slim Thug Changes His Name To Big Slim

Houston rapper Slim Thug is changing his name. His reason? He is in his 40s and is no longer thugging.

The rapper who brought the word songs like “Like A Boss,” “I Run the Streets,” and “Welcome 2 Houston” now wants to be known as Big Slim.

He shared some of his thoughts on his decision in an interview with The Defender, linking it to his new project. He told his fans to “definitely check out the *BIGslim* project. It’s a change in me.”

“I’m growing into a new person,” he continued. “I’m 41. I don’t want to be called Slim Thug.”

“It just don’t fit, you know I’m saying? I really ain’t thuugging out. So, I wanna be Big Slim now. I got big plans…I’m saying so join the journey to see where that goes.”

Some of those big plans include his new 11-track album *BIGslim*. Big Slim is also building up his local community through his company Boss Life Construction, which restores abandoned homes.

As a result of this investment as a developer, he is helping raise the property value in the Acres Homes neighborhood while also providing low-cost housing for families in need.

“We gonna keep our eyes open. We gonna keep working and climbing up to the next level,” Big Slim continued. “Instead of me staying the same … I’m sure I have a lot more to talk about with this transition.”

Dropping “Thug” from his name may be tactical, as law enforcement cracks down on artists whose names, lyrics, and music videos celebrate the “thug” lifestyle.

As reported by AllHipHop, Young Thug and Gunna have been arrested on RICO charges, with prosecutors using their content, name of their label, and artist characters as evidence of gang activity.

Shout out to Big Slim for taking that first step to grown man life.

Chris Rock Says He’s Regained Hearing After Vicious Will Smith Slap

Maybe Will Smith is not as soft as the world thought.

At a recent comedy show, Chris Rock, the comedian slapped by the first rapper to receive a Grammy Award, revealed that he lost his hearing after Will Smith smacked him during the 94th Academy Awards.

As reported by AllHipHop.com, Chris Rock was assaulted by Will Smith at the award show after the Brooklyn native made an off-handed remark about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s Caesar short haircut.

According to the New York Post, Chris Rock addressed the slap again during a stop on his new “Ego Death” tour in theUnited Kingdom at Royal Albert Hall.

During his set, Chris said, “I’m OK … if anybody was wondering. I got most of my hearing back.”

That was all he said during his performance. But Chris Rock revealed an entire routine could be on the way.

Chris continued, “People expect me to talk about the b#######. I’m not going to talk about it right now. I’ll get to it eventually — on Netflix,” adding, “anyone who says ‘words hurt’ — has never been punched in the face.”

During a pop-up set with Dave Chappelle, who was also assaulted at a recent comedy show, Chris Rock said, “I got slapped by the softest [N-word] that ever rapped.”

This past year in 2021, Cain moved his MMD recording studio to its 3rd commercial space in Atlanta, Georgia, finding the most success as a business owner since opening up his original studio in 2019. As her current manager, Cain is making sure she is getting her proper footing to be an impactful force in Hip Hop culture. As DJ Cassius Cain continues to be a power player in the game, he has plans on shifting the culture in a way the world has never seen before.

D.A. Attributes At Least 50 Shooting And Murders To YSL/YFN Feud Between Young Thug And YFN Lucci’s Gangs

Fulton County District Attorney Fani T. Willis says that the evidence they have regarding the criminal activity of the “Young Slime Life” (YSL) and their street war with YFN (Young Fly N####” and other gangs is “extremely significant.”

Willis said the war exploded seven years ago when several shootings took place. Most significant was the murder of Donavan “Big Nut” Thomas, who helped discover several Atlanta rappers, including YFN Lucci.

While Willis’ office says neither Young Thug nor Gunna are accused of murders.

But Young Thug allegedly rented a car used in the Donovan Thomas Jr. murder in the 56-count racketeering indictment against 28 members of the YSL gang.

YFN Lucci, who has been locked up since April of 2021, is charged with murder, felony assault, racketeering, and other crimes in a 105-count indictment

It is believed that Big Nut’s murder in January of 2015 is what sent the already simmering tensions between YFN and YSL over the edge.

“It occurred in 2015. And what myself and any law enforcement person can tell you [is that] as a result of that the back-and-forth gun violence and murders that have occurred, there have probably been in excess of 50 since 2015 — triggered by that in the back and forth between that [YSL] gang and other gangs.”

As reported by AllHipHop.com, on Monday, May 9, Willis revealed her 56-count indictment charging members of the YSL gang. She included Young Thug and Gunna as members of the street collective, linking them with charges of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), and participation in criminal street gang activity. Others were charged with attempted murder, theft, and more in the indictment.

Prosecutors claim YSL and YFN are affiliated with larger sets of Blood gangs in Atlanta and Los Angeles. They plan on using Young Thug and Gunna’s lyrics in the case against them during their trials.

Young Thug was busted, arrested, and has since been denied bail. In addition to the RICO charges, the Atlanta rapper has been charged with 7 new felonies after cops found a cache of guns (including a sawed-off shotgun) and a large number of drugs at his Buckhead mansion.

Actress Taylour Paige Has Words For Kendrick Lamar After Her Rap Debut On “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers”

On Friday, May 13th, Kendrick Lamar released another highly acclaimed album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppersfeaturing artists like Baby Keem, Tanna Leone.

One of the best appearances came not from a rapper or singer but from actress Taylour Paige, who won the Film Independent Spirit Award for her role in the breakout film “Zola.”

Taylour Paige appears on the track “We Cry Together,” which offers a glimpse into a toxic relationship played out through a vicious argument.

“F### you n####, you love a pity party, I won’t show up/ Always act like your s### don’t stink, m###########, grow up,” the formally trained ballerina and Debbie Allen protégé spits. “Forever late for s###, won’t buy s###, sit around and deny s###/ F### around on a side b####, then come f#####’ up my s###.”

Then the two engage in a back and forth, arguing about who did what in their relationship.

“B####, I don’t know s###, f### yo’ feelings,” Kendrick Lamar rhymes.

She rebuttals, “You on some ho s###/ See, I don’t know why you likе playin’ mind games with me/

B####, I ain’t slow nor ditsy, I know whеn you bein’ distant/I know when you fake busy get out yo’ feelings and miss me with that reverse psychology.”

Later she raps, “See, you the reason why strong women f##### up/ Why they say it’s a man’s world, see, you the reason for Trump / You the reason we overlooked, underpaid, under-booked, under shame.”

“You the reason Harvey Weinstein had to see his conclusion / You the reason R. Kelly can’t recognize that he’s abusive” – which sparked a debate about the disgraced singer’s music.

The triple-threat entertainer makes a glorious debut encapsulating the intended spirit of the song. She expressed her affection for the artist in a post on social media

The “Hit the Floor” lead did pretty well for her first joint. If you got to step on the rap stage, might as well do it with one of the greatest emcees of his generation.

According to reports, Kendrick’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers was such a hit that the album reportedly crashed Spotify and Apple’s servers.

As of press time, ten songs (including “We Cry Together” from the album take up the first 10 slots on Spotify’s Top 200 singles chart, while selections off Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers currently hold the top 14 spots on the Apple Music Songs Chart.

Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers is projected to log over 400 million streams in its first week and is supposed to move around 350,000 album-equivalent units.

Kenneth Petty Rape Accuser Ditches Attempt For $20 Million Default Judgment Against Him Too

Kenneth Petty’s rape accuser Jennifer Hough abandoned her efforts to seek a default judgment in her lawsuit against him.

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, Jennifer Hough’s lawyer Tyrone Blackburn asked to withdraw a motion for a default judgment.

“On May 12, 2022, the parties engaged in a productive conference before Your Honor,” Blackburn informed Judge James Cho. “And in the interest of reaching an amicable resolution to this matter, I am writing to request a withdrawal of Plaintiff’s motion for default judgment against defendant Petty.”

Jennifer Hough sued Kenneth Petty and his wife Nicki Minaj for harassment in 2021. The alleged victim sought a default judgment in the $20 million lawsuit.

Earlier this year, Jennifer Hough voluntarily dropped Nicki Minaj from the lawsuit. She continued to pursue the case against Kenneth Petty, who she accused of sexually assaulting her in 1994.

Kenneth Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995. He spent roughly four years in prison.

Decades later, Kenneth Petty was indicted for failing to register as a sex offender. He was arrested in 2020 and eventually pleaded guilty to the charge in 2021. He’s scheduled to be sentenced In June.

Jennifer Hough accused Kenneth Petty and Nicki Minaj of pressuring her to recant her sexual assault allegations against him. The couple’s alleged actions led to her filing a lawsuit.

Last year, Jennifer Hough discussed the 1994 rape and her lawsuit in an interview with The Real. She explained why she spoke out publicly for the first time on the show.

“I’m tired of being afraid,” she said. “I feel like the actions that were taken in regards to this whole situation have put me in a different type of fear, at my age, now. And it was wrong. And I don’t want to be afraid anymore. So, the only way not to be afraid is to continue to speak up.”

Is There A Police Unit Just For Drill Rap?

This Drill rap situation has been out of control for quite some time. I probably should not say that for fear of sounded too much like a white dude. But, the streets have got to cool down or else it simply justifies what I am about to say next.

Sources have told me there is a DRILL UNIT in New York City. 😮 As you should know by now, NYPD established the first iteration of the Hip-Hop Police. They had (have) a whole book of rappers, their names, records and affiliations. This was just crazy, but it was something we should never forget. But, of course, we forgot.

Today, this new unit does more than read AllHipHop’s comment section and Ill Community. They investigate YouTube, social media, listen to lyrics and look for gang signs in music videos. 😮 Are you shocked? When I see gang signs, I don’t know what they are saying, but these cops do now.

With the recent RICO charges hitting people like Gunna, Young Thug and Casanova (and those are just the rappers), I hope folks move smarter. I mean, Hip-Hop was never for this, but the “new masters” have taken control of the culture and the music. That is why Thug is more famous than D-Smoke. That is not to separate them, but to say that this whole thing is created to be a diverse, loving, fun culture that also promotes wellness and empowerment.

Yall don’t hear me though.

Conway the Machine, Griselda React To Racially Motivated Mass Shooting In Buffalo

Conway the Machine, one of Buffalo’s top rappers, has reacted to a horrific shooting by a White supremacist, which killed 10 people in a supermarket.

According to investigators, an 18-year-old traveled hours from Conklin, New York, to Buffalo on Saturday (May 14th), intent on causing bloodshed.

He drove to a predominantly Black area of the city to the Topps Friendly Market store to target Black customers. The White supremacist was armed with a legally purchased AR-15 with an illegally modified high-capacity magazine.

Once inside Topps Friendly Market, he began firing. In total, 10 people were killed, and three more were wounded. Two of the surviving victims are still hospitalized, while one has been discharged.

Like everyone, Conway, the Machine was stunned by the brutality of the crime committed by the racist teenager.

“My heart goes out to all of the family and friends of the victims and everyone that was impacted by this senseless act of racism and violence,” Conway the Machine said. “This is beyond unfathomable. Prayers up for my city!”

His Griselda labelmate, Benny the Butcher, also issued a brief yet impactful statement expressing his shock and dismay over the massacre.

“Can’t believe a mass shooting happened in my city 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 pray for Buffalo,” Benny said. Meanwhile, Westside Gunn asked his fans to keep Buffalo residents in their prayers.

The 18-year-old who was taken into custody allegedly wrote a White supremacist manifesto before his deadly rampage.

Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia told CNN that the shooting was a “straight-up racially motivated hate crime from somebody outside of our community.”

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland issued a statement, saying the Justice Department was investigating the shooting as a hate crime.

“The country mourns the victims of a senseless, horrific shooting in Buffalo, New York. The FBI and ATF are working closely with the Buffalo Police Department and federal, state, and local law enforcement partners,” Merrick Garland’s office said.

“The Justice Department is investigating this matter as a hate crime and an act of racially motivated violent extremism. The Justice Department is committed to conducting a thorough and expeditious investigation into the shooting and to seeking justice for these innocent victims,” the statement added.

The shooting in Buffalo was the deadliest mass shooting of 2022 so far. There have been a staggering 198 mass shootings in which four or more people were shot in the U.S. since January.

Diddy Vows To “Uncancel” Embattled Artists Travis Scott And Morgan Wallen

Sean “Diddy” Combs has pledged to “uncancel” Travis Scott and Morgan Wallen.

Ahead of the 2022 Billboard Music Awards tonight (May 15th), of which the hip-hop mogul is to serve as host and an executive producer, Diddy defended the decision to have the rapper and country singer-songwriter perform during the ceremony.

“The mood of the show is about love and forgiveness. As a musical family, none of us are saints; none of us are without things that happen to them in life,” he told Billboard. “So one of the things I’m doing directly is un-canceling the canceled. That’s breaking news because people haven’t been about canceling. But canceling is a trend that needs to stop.”

Travis Scott has faced criticism following the fatal crowd crush during his Astroworld Festival concert in Houston, Texas, last November.

Wallen was suspended from his record label after a video showing him using a racial slur was released in February 2021.

“Travis went through a tragedy; Morgan (used the N-word) while talking to his boy. People make mistakes. Now we’re moving on with love and respect for everybody that was hurt or affected. It’s time to forgive,” the superstar insisted. “To have Morgan and Travis be able to come back and touch the stage again with the mindset of getting a second chance at life. Everybody in the room is getting a second chance at life, you know because we’re back inside with no masks on. We need love, and I’m excited about celebrating that.”

Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Silk Sonic, Ed Sheeran, Miranda Lambert, and Machine Gun Kelly are also set to perform at the Billboard Music Awards.

The show will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Jack Harlow Says Emma Chamberlain Flirt Video “A Piece Of Art”

Jack Harlow revealed he wants to leave the video of him flirting with Emma Chamberlain “up to interpretation.”

During an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” host Jimmy asked the “First Class” rapper about the viral footage of him telling the YouTube personality “love you” during an interview on the red carpet of the 2022 Met Gala earlier this month.

While many fans have speculated that Jack was pursuing Emma, Jack Harlow refused to clarify his intentions.

“That’s like a piece of art because there are so many ways to interpret that. Everyone has a different take on what was going through her head. So, I’ll leave it up to interpretation,” Jack Harlow said cryptically.

When Jimmy questioned Jack whether he tells everyone he loves them, the 24-year-old continued, “Only if I love them. I have a lot of warmth to share.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, the star discussed what it was like to collaborate with Lil Nas X on the hit single “Industry Baby.”
“I knew ‘Industry Baby’ was going to be special. In fact, when I was writing the verse, I kept on saying, ‘This is going to be number one,'” he smiled, adding that he enjoys performing alongside Lil Nas X. “You gotta bring your A-game to stand out. He’s just so powerful.”

Meet Massachusetts Artist Jonny Chidi

Jonny Chidi has had an impressive start to 2022. His debut album “Chidi Bang Bang” just dropped, and he just released a major single titled “IDGAF” featuring Miami artist Yung Simmie. Chidi’s vocals are very catchy throughout his entire catalogue and the production is an intriguing combination of trap and alternative. Brix Royale and Reggie1 handle the majority of Jonny’s production on the tracks that he has released so far this year.

“Ice” was Jonny’s first release of the year when it dropped back in February featuring Atlanta artist Kevin Kazi. Kazi’s vocals on the track go tremendously well with Chidi’s smooth upbeat chorus. The collaborative work that Jonny has done with these two artists to start the year is incredible. We are expecting big things from Jonny Chidi the rest of 2022 and even well beyond that.

Jonny has a very promising future in the music scene. He has a good following on Instagram and Twitter. His YouTube channel , Spotify and SoundCloud all have great followings. It’s been a pleasure covering Jonny, make sure to check out his socials and stream his music below.

Stockz On His Forthcoming Album “The Investment” & Hosting MetaMoney With REVOLT

Stockz is exactly what his name embodies: a whole lotta money/a good investment. Hailing from Houston, TX; Stockz is a true jack of all trades, from rapping to modeling to acting to of course, being the entrepreneur that he is. And if you knew Stockz from the early days, you probably saw him carrying around his pimp cane. As soon as he walks in the room, he demands attention… in the best way possible.

But there’s a lot that lies beneath the story, and Stockz uses music as an outlet to express himself, whether he’s spitting his truth or making club bangers. Growing up as the eldest brother in a household amongst 4 others, the rising star had to go out and get it on his own, doing everything independently and grinding to where he is now today.

Most recently, Stockz unveiled his newest single titled “Come & Dance,” following the release of his project Capital Gains earlier in March. In addition to the music, Stockz describes himself as an all-around leader, an activist for financial empowerment, and the founder of his label Buy Money Ent.

AllHipHop caught up with Stockz, who revealed he’d been working a “whole whole lot.” His current plate includes hosting his new show on REVOLT titled “META MONEY,” where he teaches people about NFts, the web3 space, crypto, and more!

AllHipHop: You recently moved back to Houston. How does Houston influence you?

Stockz: Houston Is definitely everything I am, because it taught me everything I know. The way I move, everything that makes me who I am comes from Houston. Because I grew up there my whole life after I moved from Virginia when I was 3 years old. Everything, the culture, because really we’re one of the biggest cities. Houston’s a melting pot with so many different cultures. I got to be around a lot of different types of people, so it’s definitely influential to my art.

AllHipHop: Who’s in your Top 5?

Stockz:: Okay, this is not in order. A Top 5 is always going to vary, I know I’m probably going to mess this up. Definitely Jay Z, Kanye West, Rick Ross…these last two are important. Snoop dogg actually, and I’m a say Big L.

AllHipHop: Oh wow, I love BIg L.

Stockz: Yeah, Big L was one of the reasons I got into rapping. So I’m a give it to Big L.

AllHipHop: Was there a turning point when you realized you could do music for a living?

Stockz: Uhhh, when it started paying. [laughs] Nah I’m playing. I was just into it. It’s not an option for me. I’m a do this, because there’s nothing else I want to be doing everyday. It’s naturally what I go do.

AllHipHop: How’d you get your name?

Stockz: Really crazy way I got my name. I woke up and it was a business commercial, back when I was in high school. Somebody else named me Mischief because I was battle rapping at the time. I was in 9th grade, like 14 or something. They called me that, but I didn’t like that name. A commercial came on talking about stocks and bonds, I ended up going by stockz after that. That inspired my name and it just stuck. I never changed it, it’s been that. It’s crazy how it’s all tying together now, making sense.

AllHipHop: How would you describe your sound? What sets you apart?

Stockz: I make “come up” music. Of course, I got some pimping in there, Drug dealer stories, other content I wrote about in the past.. but right now I’m focused on making pure come up music, teach people things through the music and how to come up.

AllHipHop: You just released “Come & Dance.” What inspired this record?

Stockz: Being back in Houston. Going to them strip clubs, getting back out there. It’s money on the floor. “Come & Dance,” it’s pretty straight forward.

AllHipHop: Talk about the nightlife scene in Houston.

Stockz: Houston, our culture is our records break in the strip club. If they are not playing your record in the sttrip club, then you probably are not getting played in the regular club either. That’s just how our records move, so it’s definitely everything. The DJs in Houston support me, I love that and it’s dope. The strip club is mad important, it’s because the women decide the music that works. Women have the voice of choice in music every time.

AllHipHop: You also released the Capital Gains EP. Shout out to DJ Five Venoms, how’d you guys link?

Stockz: Crazy story. I DMed Five Venoms when “NO OPPS” dropped. I sent him the video on Instagram and he liked it. We never met each other. I went to Rolling Loud New York, I was with Sweetness from EQ and she had pointed me in the direction of Five, because I didn’t really know what he looked like, I just knew he was DJing. I thought “I’m a go meet him so we can talk.”

She introduced me to him, and we started talking. I ended up talking to his manager Jordan and we ended up chopping it up about NFTs and Crypto for about 30 mins backstage. Eventually, we got into a conversation about putting out a mixtape.” We formulated Capital Gains, my guy ZerinM helped me pick the records for release. Capital Gains came as a mixtape from DJ Five Venoms, and we dropped it on streaming platforms. Boom!

AllHipHop: Talk about linking with Too Short, that’s a Bay area legend.

Stockz: Man, shout out to Too Short. Too Short is the OG, that’s unc. I love him, I appreciate everything he does and has done period. For me, for everybody, the game, everything. Shout out to the homie Zach @EkzaktXL, he introduced me to Too Short originally way before this

song materialized. At the time when that record was made, me and my guy John were working on some visualizers for Too Short. We’re helping direct some music videos for him.

It was in 2018/2019 when I did my management deal w/ Roc Nation. I was in the studio working on Julia Lewis beats when I had made the song “Choose Up.” I was in there, Too Short had called me and said “hey, can you send me the video?’ (the visualizers we were working on) He needed the updated version of the video, I said “yeah I got you.” We were playing the song While we were on the phone, and I asked if I could send it to him. He’s like “bet.” I sent it to him, and he liked it. Then recorded it with Ekzkat, choose up!

AllHipHop: You also released “Not Many,” which premiered on REVOLT. What inspired this record?

Stockz: That record was inspired solely off of the thought of being one of the few people that make it out of the circumstances that we come up in, in the city that we’re from. That’s why I have Doeman as a feature, because he’s from my city and embodies that energy. He’s from a different part, he’s from the South East and I grew up in the South West. It’s literally about that, the mantra of knowing not many of us made it out here, but in time we’ll take it there. Just celebrating the fact that we took the best that we had and projected it, and made things happen with it.

AllHipHop: You’re hosting a new show with REVOLT called META MONEY. How’d this opportunity come about?

Stockz: I went to REVOLT Summit in Atlanta, I bumped into the creative director Dunnie West. I know Dunnie because I shot a Foot Action campaign with him and the homie Dave a long time ago. I bumped into him, and we started talking about Crypto and NFTs. It was right around the time I got my Mutant Ape, I bought it during REVOLT Summit in ATL. He said “this sounds like a dope idea.” We worked on the vision and got it done. S/O to Revolt for the opportunity to teach.

AllHipHop: Have you always been into NFTs and the metaverse?

Stockz: I’ve been into crypto for a long time, but I wasn’t really trading crypto this way as I am now. But NFTs, I was introduced to by my homie John Gomez. The videographer that I work with a lot, he did all of my videos for “Skateboard Cane”. He was telling me about NFTs, trying to get me hip to it but I was really busy so I wasn’t really tapped in. I was learning a little bit about it.

The homie Gino The Ghost hit me one day like “yo, check out this collection. It’s dope.” The crypto cannabis club I think it was at the time. He just got me into it. I started shopping and he showed me how to look for the rarities, then I was hooked.

AllHipHop: Did you ever think you’d be hosting a show on REVOLT?

Stockz: No, and that’s the crazy thing. Because my music’s on REVOLT, that’s tight and that’s all I ever really imagined outside of an interview or something. All of the sudden, oh you have a show. What? Wow. If you would’ve asked me that 3 years ago, do you think you’d be doing this? No, because I didn’t even know what a NFT was. it’s no telling what’s going to happen, just keep walking.

AllHipHop: Talk about being the owner of Mutant Ape Yacht Club.

Stockz: It’s my NFT, part of one the biggest NFT collections that’s come out. They’ve done a lot of stuff. They have Bored Ape Yacht Club The first (10k), then you got the Mutant Ape’s. It’s 20K of them. Then they have the Bored Ape Kennel Club, the dogs. Mutant Ape’s the middle ground.

That was my biggest investment into NFTs at the time, because it cost me 6 ETH, which was heavy for me at the time. I’m like oh s###. It got me really into it.

It’s been dope because it keeps giving me new value. I don’t think I’m ever gonna sell it even though I can. It’s tight because I can license it. I licensed it to a book “Jenkins The Valet”. It’s gonna be in a puzzle, like “Where’s Waldo” type thing. We get royalties for that, just a lot of different stuff. The community of it is dope, I’m meeting so many people from it. It’s one of the biggest collections. They had a big concert for NFT NYC. They had a big fest, Chris Rock was there. Aziz Ansari, The Strokes, Beck, Questlove, Lil Baby, hella people were there. After I went to that show, I’m like oh yeah I gotta buy this. It’s been locked in since.

AllHipHop: You also have your own label called Buy Money, doing distribution for multiple artists.

Stockz: Buy Money is really more so about a lifestyle, a mantra. Being, more than it is music. Buy Money is making investments and making sure you’re doing the right thing for what you’re investing your time in. For me, it’s automatic for it to be linked with music. It’s good we’re able to do it. I like the fact that the artist we do distribution for are able to call me, we can talk. It’s more hands-on and direct. I make it a mission that Buy Money can teach artists about business. How a business runs, how their contracts work, stuff that everyone likes to neglect and act like they don’t know what they’re talking about. Everything I can teach, I will teach. That’s one of my big key things over here at Buy Money.

AllHipHop: How’s the independent grind?

Stockz: It’s crazy, especially for me because I’ve been so self-managed and a one-man team for a long time. Now that I’m back in Houston, let me try and build my team back up. I’ve always had on and off management, I’m trying to get something very consistent. Being independent is crazy, especially when you’re your own investor, but it works out well for me. The way my business is set up, everytime we drop music we get richer. Because of the relationship I have with all my people, we all eat out the pot together. It makes it easier that way, versus being an

artist that’s a dickead to all the producers and everybody. Nobody wants to clear records or anything… I don’t have those problems. [laughs]

AllHipHop: You were also in Korea for a month, modeling for Samsung. That’s epic!

Stockz: Yes, I was in S Korea for a month during the pandemic. I had to get tested before I left. When I got there, I had to do a 2-week quarantine. I don’t speak Korean. The people I have to work with at Samsung aren’t able to come to the airport. I land like okay, what’s going on? They put us on random buses, they take you to a hotel that’s government bought to quarantine. You have to stay there for 2 weeks, I was stuck in a room for 2 weeks,

I couldn’t leave the room, could not walk out of the room. Couldn’t open the window, had to check my temperature in the mornings and report to them on the phone apps. They were feeding us pretty bad. I’m not gon’ lie, I was doing real bad with the food. I was in jail low key, it was crazy. But after that, when we got outside and I got to do the job, it was fun. Definitely the hardest job I ever had to do in my life for sure, they were working me hard.

AllHipHop: What can we expect from The Investment mixtape, dropping later this year?

Stockz: We’re mixing it right now. Tryna drop it by my birthday in August, that’s what we’re looking at. I’m in the process of mixing and mastering right now. That’s one of my favorites, been working on it a little longer. We got features on there, all that good stuff. Shooting a bunch of videos. If it had a couple more songs, it might actually be an album. It might.

AllHipHop: What features can we expect?

Stockz: We got Guapdad 4000 on there. We got Vae Vanilla on there, a girl dope female rapper from Detroit. She goes crazy. I got Jurdan Bryant of Spillage Village is on there, a couple more people. Some pending things I can’t talk about yet, but we’re working on it. It’s exciting.

AllHipHop: Any goals you have for yourself at this point in your career?

Stockz: I’m trying to make sure that while I’m walking this earth, I’m leaving a good imprint. Teaching people how to buy money and do positive things, that’s it. Everything else that comes with it is extra. I want to make sure I do what I’m here, supposed to do for God. Everything else is everything else.

AllHipHop: Anything else you want to let the people know?

Stockz: Let the people know that I love them, and I love you, Life is good, I’m breathing and achieving. I can’t complain. Everything’s good man. Be positive, live your life, do the best that you can do.

Casanova Drops New Picture And Encouraging Message On Social Media

A picture of Brooklyn rapper Casanova 2x has hit his social media.

The rapper is pictured with a black durag and a white tank top. The photo seems to be a screengrab from a prison skype visit or facetime from his facility.

“No matter what it is you are going through right now, what obstacles are in front of you, you have to trust that everything will work out eventually, solutions will present itself when the time is right. There is perfect timing for everything and everyone. Move-in faith, not in fear,” Casanova wrote on Instagram.

This comes a day after reports said he was placed on suicide watch.

AllHipHop.com reported that the rapper, whose real name is Caswell Senior, said he was placed on “suicide watch a couple of days ago.” Casanova described where he is staying as a “holding cell where you wear a smock and stuff.”

When asked if he had ever had a mental health issue before, Casanova said, “[In] my teenage days, I attempted to kill myself a couple of times,” while revealing that he was sent to Bellevue hospital in Manhattan, NY.

The post is not the first time the rapper, who has a new album about to be released titled Behind these Scars, has used social media to communicate with his people.

After being refused bond in 2021, he released a message to his fans after spending almost a year in the West Chester, New York County Jail.

“This is a public service announcement to all my fans and very important friends,” Cas captioned. “I’ve been incarcerated for almost one year now, exhausted all remedies, and spent a significant amount of money on legal fees to prove my innocence. The charges against me are false, they don’t represent or reflect the person that I am. They are simply using my past criminal history to crucify me in court.”

Kryptic Reign Music & Hip-Hop Therapist Angelica Guajardo Join Forces for Mental Health Month

Coachella Valley Teens Heal with Tupac Shakur

May is Mental Health Month, and a group of teens in the Coachella Valley, California, are embracing their own Mental Health Wellness utilizing Hip Hop Therapy.

The teen therapy group is led by Angelica Guajardo, Hip Hop Therapist/ Marriage and Family Therapist in Palm Desert, California.

Expressive Arts and Psychotherapy of the Desert is the valley’s only Expressive Arts Therapy Center. Expressive Arts Therapy is a multi-modal approach to therapy that utilizes visual arts, dance/movement, music, writing/poetry, and dramatic arts.

Angelica Guajardo, along with Music Artist and Song Writer Xpression, Juan Carlos Fajardo, Jr, CEO and Founder of Kryptic Reign Music, is helping teens through Hip Hop. Fajardo serves as the Director of the Hip Hop Therapy Program and Manager of Kryptic Studio 39, the Center’s professional recording studio. The youth in the program are studying the history of hip hop, the elements of hip hop, and exploring various poets and artists to learn the rhythmic art of story-telling for healing.

The teens reviewed music from legendary artist Tupac Shakur in honor of Mother’s Day. They studied the lyrics from “Dear Mama.” They did a line-by-line recitation and exploration of the song’s meaning. The teens then voiced the relevance of the words to their own lives.

“I remember being so poor; all we ate was Top Ramen for a whole month,” said one youth.

Another youth shared that her father was addicted to cocaine when she was very young and realized her mother struggled as a single parent. The song inspired a female teen to rap the song in the recording studio as the other teens gathered to witness her experience.

The Hip Hop Therapy process boosts the participant’s self-esteem by offering community and autonomy and validating the person’s experiences.

Kryptic Reign Music and Expressive Arts and Psychotherapy of the Desert collaborate to establish a Hip Hop Conference in the Coachella. The conference will bring experts in the music industry to share their knowledge and expertise. Some of the featured speakers slated are Atron Gregory, Music Entrepreneur and former manager of Tupac Shakur; Ronnie King, Grammy, and Oscar-Nominated Producer; and actor Peter Dante, who assists in the Therapeutic Drama portion of the conference. Other added features include workshops in songwriting, hip hop dance, hip hop art, and a rap cypher.
