Big Sean Goes Off In Freestyle Over Jay-Z, Drake & Kanye West Beats

Big Sean stopped by Los Angeles radio station Power 106 and displayed his lyrical prowess in a new L.A. Leakers freestyle.

The Def Jam artist rapped for almost nine minutes, delivering a flurry of bars over multiple beats. Big Sean began by spitting on Jay-Z’s “Dear Summer” and quickly established the tone a decade after he last freestyled for the L.A. Leakers.

“I stopped hoping for the best now I’m demanding it work/I handle my dirt if good karma don’t land on it first/Relentless how I give it all but never give in/Just like NBA players in my girl’s DMs/Steady shooting shots that’ll never go in/F### it, I’m focused on making money we nevеr gon’ spend/My whole life is likе my blessings queued right on schedule/I still hate seafood but love the oyster perpetual,” he rapped.

The L.A. Leakers switched things up about two minutes in, having Big Sean tackle Drake’s “Love All” instrumental. A few minutes later, Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk flipped the script again with Kanye West’s “Hurricane” beat.

“Everything I know now could’ve been added to then/Nothing better than having it all, except having it all losing it all then getting it back again/No writing on the wall but I still know how to read a room/I don’t need a casket when I die, I need a tomb/My focus back active, now I’m getting consumed/Yeah I’m awake with the moon/Mother Nature so when I die and I’m buried, what that mean? I’m going back in the womb,” Sean Don rapped over the Yeezy cut.

The freestyle capped off with Big Sean rhyming over Florida-bred rapper Nardo Wick’s “Who Want Smoke?” instrumental. The change in pace didn’t phase the Detroit rhymer as he adjusted his flow and continued unleashing bars.

YouTube Deletes J Balvin’s Video For “Perra” Over Portrayal Of Black Women

J Balvin’s latest video has been removed from YouTube amid backlash over its depiction of Black women.

In the video for “Perra” – Balvin’s collaboration with Tokischa – the rapper is seen walking two Black women, whose faces have been made to look like dogs, on leashes.

Meanwhile, Tokischa is seen on all fours as she poses inside a doghouse.

While the video – directed by Raymi Paulus – was taken down on Sunday, neither Balvin nor Tokischa have responded to the criticism, which included a joint statement from Colombian Vice President Marta Lucia Ramirez and Gheidy Gallo Santos, Presidential Counselor for Women’s Equality.

The pair told the Los Angeles Times that Balvin “uses images of women and people of African descent — a population group with special constitutional protection — to whom he presents with dog ears. In addition, while walking, the singer carries two Afro-descendant women tied with neck chains and crawling on the floor like animals or slaves.”

The video has seen Balvin accused of misogynoir – misogyny directed towards Black women where their race and gender play roles in bias.

In the wake of the backlash, Paulus, who is also Tokischa’s manager, has deleted his Instagram account – which formerly boasted more than 74,000 followers.

Kim Kardashian Pays Ye Another $3 Million For Furniture In Their Home

Kim Kardashian has given Ye $3 million for the contents of their home.

The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star has agreed to buy the Los Angeles abode from her estranged husband, with $20 million – the same as the original outlay on the property – going to Ye for the building and the additional sum for “all finishings, furniture, fixtures, appliances’ collectibles, silver and art currently located in said Residence.”

According to documents filed to the Los Angeles Superior Court last week, the house was appraised by an independent expert in June 2020.

Kim and Ye – who have children North, eight, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and two-year-old Psalm together – bought the house in 2014 and worked extensively with architect Axel Vervoordt to create their dream, all-white, family home.

After living with the 40-year-old beauty’s mom, Kris Jenner, during the renovations, the family finally moved into the property in December 2017.

Four months later, Kris revealed the value of the abode had skyrocketed from the $20 million the pair had paid for it to a staggering $60 million.

Despite the purchase, Ye – won’t be left homeless. Last month, it was claimed he’d splashed out 57 million on a beachfront property in Malibu.

The 44-year-old rapper has also put his ranch in Cody, Wyoming, up for sale for $11 million.

Issa Rae Explains Why An ‘Insecure’ Movie Is Unlikely

Insecure returns on October 24. The Peabody Award-winning dramedy created by Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore is coming to an end after its fifth season.

Issa Rae is currently doing the media rounds to promote her HBO program. The Los Angeles-born actress/writer appeared on The Tamron Hall Show where she was asked about potentially making an Insecure movie.

“I always say if you see an Insecure movie, it means I’m down bad. It means I’m not doing well in life. I don’t want to do a movie,” said Issa Rae. “It’s a finite story. And I just don’t want to see an Insecure movie, unless I’m doing badly.”

Fellow Insecure cast members Yvonne Orji and Kendrick Sampson were interviewed on The Tamron Hall Show as well. Both co-stars spoke about Insecure‘s closing episodes.

“I think it’s incredible to be a part of something historic. And that really makes Black people feel valued and has been transformational in this type of storytelling we see about us. So I’m just grateful to be on the ride,” stated Kendrick Sampson.

Yvonne Orji added, “I mean I cried the whole final episode. So I told Issa after the table read, I was like, ‘Yo, you sent us out very well, and I appreciate the heck out of you.’ She wrote an amazing finale and Prentice [Penny] did an amazing job directing it. I don’t think there was anything else left on the table.”

Snoop Dogg Releases Mount Westmore’s “Big Subwoofer” Single Off ‘The Algorithm’

There has been speculation that Dr. Dre is preparing to launch an “Aftermath Takeover” with several artists connected to his Aftermath Entertainment imprint. Snoop Dogg is one of the acts associated with that alleged campaign.

For his 50th birthday, Snoop Dogg announced an upcoming Def Jam Recordings release titled Snoop Dogg Presents The Algorithm. The Hip Hop legend serves as an executive creative consultant for Def Jam.

“Big Subwoofer” by Mount Westmore is the first official single off The Algorithm. Mount Westmore is a rap supergroup made up of Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, E-40, and Too Short.

“There’s so much talent on this record,” said Snoop Dogg about the upcoming collection. “So many styles of music, it breaks the algorithm.”

The Long Beach native added, “Right now, the algorithm is telling us you have to rap this way, you have to sound this way, but they’re not telling you how it’s supposed to feel. My algorithm is going to give you a feeling, not a sound.”

Chris Brown Clowns Kanye West’s New Hairstyle

Kanye West got a lot of people talking after debuting his new hairstyle. The unexpected cut was ridiculed online, even by R&B superstar Chris Brown.

Yesterday, Chris Brown posted numerous memes on his Instagram Story making fun of Kanye West. Breezy even shared a video of himself laughing into the camera.

“He asked the [barber] for the f##### up worldwide fade. N#### wanna make ‘what the f###’ in style. He got the punishment haircut,” wrote Chris Brown on Instagram.

This is not the first time Chris Brown had words for Kanye West. Apparently, Ye removed CB from his “New Again” song off the Donda album which sparked an online reaction by Brown.

At one point, Chris Brown called Kanye West a “whole hoe” over the “New Again” situation. He even leaked his alleged unreleased verse that was omitted from Donda.

Dr. Dre Served With Divorce Papers At Grandmother’s Funeral

Dr. Dre is in the midst of a contentious divorce from Nicole Young that has garnered numerous headlines since the papers were first filed. Things were bitter before, and they may have just ratcheted up a notch further if the most recent revelations are anything to go by.

The latest news comes courtesy of a TMZ exclusive. The outlet reports that Dr. Dre was handed papers while laying his beloved grandmother to rest on Monday (October 18.) A process server for his ex-wife attempted to serve him with legal documents in the divorce while at the cemetery.

According to TMZ, a source with direct knowledge told them that the process server initially attempted service of the papers at the burial site. The claim is disputed but they say Dr. Dre was standing graveside next to his grandmother’s casket when the process service first attempted to give him the papers.

It is unknown what transpired in the interim but sources close to Nicole Young say that Dre was in fact served in the cemetery’s parking lot after the burial.

Dre refused to take the documents and was understandably furious. Source for the opposing parties disagrees on exactly how service was achieved. Dr. Dre’s sources are saying the process server dropped the papers at the gravesite. Nicole Young’s source disputes this and says the papers were dropped in the parking lot of the Los Angeles cemetery.

The proceedings have appeared pretty hostile up to now and it doesn’t get much more acrimonious than this latest round.

Five Emcees Allegedly Turn Down Verzuz With Busta Rhymes

Busta Rhymes was in attendance at the historic Verzuz showdown between KRS-One and Big Daddy Kane at the weekend. His appearance there reignited the debate “Who could take Busta in a Verzuz battle?”

According to Rock Steady Crew’s Crazy Legs, Busta says five people have turned him down!

“I had to let @bustarhymes know that no one is worthy enough to battle him. Then he told me that 5 people already turned it down. Some things are just what they are,” he wrote on Instagram. “He has the unfortunate pleasure of being a god in the rap game. Shout out to @therealswizzz for the #BDP outfit of the day!”

Busta Rhymes Speaks!

Bus-a-Bus took to the stage briefly on Saturday at Verzuz’s new ICONZ series headlined by dancehall legend Super Cat.  “Find me a worthy Verzuz opponent. KRS, I’ll see you tomorrow,” he said, before dropping the mic and walking offstage.

He then took to Twitter to ask his followers, “Busta Rhymes x Verzuz (…………..)”

Even Verzuz is stumped asking, “Who’s a worthy opponent for @BustaRhymes!? #VERZUZ”

https://twitter.com/verzuzonline/status/1449919131722125314?s=20

Who Are The Worthy Opponents?

Busta Rhymes has wanted to take part in a Verzuz for some time. In October last year, he called out T.I On Instagram Live with Fat Joe.

“From one brother that loves you, to my brother that knows I love him, I’m begging you to step in the ring with me. I’mma bust your a–,” “Let me tell you something, we’re going to do it with grace, but I’mma bust T.I.–I’mma bust your a–,” he continued. “C’mon T.I., let’s have fun.”

T.I Responded by saying that the generation gap is too large to make it competitive. “Busta bust, Busta bust. Look, I f— with you Bust, and I respect my elders, man. No cap, I ain’t trying to be funny about it at all, but just speaking honestly,” he continued. “I didn’t know we were reaching back through generations. That’s a huge generational gap in there, isn’t it? I have a huge amount of respect for you, exponential amount of respect for you. You know what I’m saying?”

After T.I turned it down he told Complex, “I would love to spar against anybody … as long as their catalog is a powerful catalog, because I don’t want to do a corny Verzuz,” he said. “I don’t wanna do no Verzuz with anybody whose catalog isn’t crazy. And I would love to do a Verzuz with somebody that I’m a fan of, because I’m only trying to compete with people that brings the best out of me.” He named Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Jay-Z as his top three picks. He also said he’s not opposed to taking on two artists at the same time!

We Won’t Be Seeing Busta Rhymes vs. Fat Joe Any Time Soon…

Fat Joe has already taken his name out of the hat. Speaking in September he said: “Fat Joe scared to do Verzuz with Busta Rhymes and so is everybody else,” he said on Instagram. “Busta Rhymes is gonna outrap, outperform anybody who goes up in a Verzuz with him. That’s a fact. Yo, Busta Rhymes nobody wanna get in there with you, man. You might have to be an honorary — they gotta give you the check for no reason.”

Cardi B Could Be Facing 4 Years In Assault Case, Claps Back At Suggestion She’s Going To Prison

Cardi B is continuing to fight the ongoing court case against her. She is facing charges stemming from a brawl at a strip club in Flushing, Queens back in 2018.

CBS New York reports that Cardi B is due back in court next week for another hearing. The New York native was given the opportunity to plead guilty to third-degree assault in exchange for a conditional discharge. Cardi turned the offer down, instead opting to enter a plea of not guilty on all charges.

The superstar rapper is facing charges of reckless endangerment and assault for her alleged involvement in the brawl. A further hearing is reportedly set for Monday in Queens and unless the parties involved can reach an agreement beforehand, the matter will proceed to trial. If this happens, Cardi could find herself facing up to four years behind bars.

The superstar rapper is accused of throwing a bottle at two bartenders at Angels Strip Club in Queens after they got a little too close to her husband, Offset. Jade, one of the bartenders, is the ex-girlfriend of Tekashi 6ix9ine. She claims that Cardi B ordered some henchmen to rough up her and her sister when they worked in the club. Rumour has it that Cardi believed the sisters, Jade and Baddie Gi, had sex with Offset.

Cardi B Responds

Cardi B took to Twitter to vent…and to respond to a few people who had some things to say about the prospect of her going to jail.

“They wanna see a bad b#### do bad,” she said, presumably to those praying for her downfall.

A Twitter user responded to the Tweet with “You’re going to prison.”

https://twitter.com/YoungboysNut/status/1450584064621223936?s=20

Never one to shy away from her critics, Cardi politely clapped back with, “Before I go to prison you gone see me breakin more records and making more Ms.”

Nevertheless, there is one subject Cardi B is steering clear of addressing publicly: politics. Find out why here.
