EXCLUSIVE: 50 Cent Claims Remy Martin Trying To Destroy His Branson Cognac Brand

50 Cent claims spirits brand Remy Martin is attempting to ruin his cognac business.

In August, Remy Cointreau filed a lawsuit against 50’s company Sire Spirits. Remy claims 50 Cent’s brand Branson Cognac willfully and blatantly copied their bottle design from XO Cognac.

“No brand or company has the right to exclude others from making or selling curved bottles for cognac or other alcohol,” 50 Cent lawyer Reena Jain explained. “Nonetheless, Remy Martin is on a mission to eliminate Sire Spirits from the cognac market.”

50 Cent founded Sire Spirits in 2014 when he did a deal with Beam Suntory to market the EFFEN brand of vodka.

After his success with EFFEN, 50 founded two subsidiaries – Sire Champagnes to market his champagne brand Le Chemin du Roi and Sire Brown, which created the Branson Cognac brand.

50 says he was inspired to design his bottle based on canteens used by soldiers during the Civil War. The rapper also wanted to create a bottle that would reflect light from all angles.

After the design for his bottle was completed, 50 Cent says he filed trademarks for the “Branson Bottle” on February 6th, 2020, with The United States Patent and Trademark Office with no opposition.

According to 50 Cent’s legal team, the lawsuit has nothing to do with the bottle – and everything to do with competition.

They claim Remy Martin has been targeting 50 Cent’s brand with meritless claims since the beginning of the year.

In France, Remy Martin filed a lawsuit against Sire Spirits’ bottler Cognac Embouteillage. In April of 2021, Remy Martin finally filed a notice of opposition with the USPTO over the rapper’s bottle design.

But 50’s lawyers say that not one of Remy Martin’s designs is similar to his Branson Bottle, let alone substantially identical.

The rapper’s team says Remy Martin’s complaint fails to state any claim for willful patent infringement and is nothing but meritless litigation to destroy a competitor financially.

“Remy Martin’s efforts to monopolize the cognac market and draw spirits into a multi-front legal battle in order to force an exorbitant settlement should not be allowed to continue,” Reena Jain said.

50 Cent is asking for Remy Martin’s lawsuit against Branson Cognac to be dismissed with prejudice and he also wants a judge to make the company pay the legal bills he has incurred.

Snoop Dogg Sued Over “Dummy Of The Week” Instagram Post

Rapper Snoop Dogg is in legal hot water after posting a viral video of a protester trying to climb a Manhattan office building to Instagram without permission.

Bosses at media outlet FreedomNews.TV filed suit on Monday in Los Angeles federal court over the alleged violation of their copyright.

The “Gin and Juice” rapper has been accused of stealing copyrighted footage of the April incident, in which a protester fell to the ground while attempting to climb the exterior of JPMorgan Chase’s New York headquarters.

Snoop captioned the video “Dummy of the Week” when he posted it to Instagram. According to reports, the post is still on his Instagram page and viewed more than 4.5 million times.

FreedomNews.TV bosses claim the video is an “exact copy” of their original and that Snoop is to blame since he takes “an active and pervasive role” in content posted to his account.

The chiefs also accuse the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” hitmaker of violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which prohibits the removal of “content management information” used on copyrighted works.

“Defendant intentionally removed copyright management information related to the video,” the lawsuit states. “Defendant purposefully failed to include the video credit originally conveyed with the video in order to mislead the public into believing that defendant either owned the video or had legitimately licensed it.”

Sure, Jan: Eddie Winslow Says He’s Not Dating Sidney Starr

Darius McCrary is calling BS on Sidney Starr.

In a video posted to his Instagram page, the Family Matters actor denies dating the Love & Hip Hop star.

We told you yesterday that the duo seemed to confirm their relationship on social media. But, it seems, now McCrary is saying ‘SIKE!’

McCrary began the video by chomping, loudly, on his food while chewing with his mouth open. After about a minute of watching him chew his food like a cow, he made clear that Sidney Starr was “just a friend.” (He also somehow brought his mama into his mess, which was completely unnecessary.)

“Ayo check this out,” he said. “I don’t normally pay attention to the rumors…so while you’re busy discussing me, I’m trying to figure out how to change the world for you.”

He then asked, “what are we in high school? You telling me who I can, and can’t, be friends with?”

But it’s interesting to note that McCrary never directly addressed Sidney Starr, herself, or the “rumors” in question. (It’s also interesting that one of the comments on his Instagram page said, “WE SEEN YOU CATCHING HER ASS EDDIE AND KISSING HER ! Its receipts not a rumor!” Yikes!)

Check out the video mess below.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CVLeZIwlhSK/

But he captioned the video with “I stand with my #Family and that’s all that matters,” which…good for you, Darius. Good for you.

For what it’s worth, both of them have messy relationship histories. In addition to dating Superhead, McCrary was best known for getting thrown in jail back in 2015 for failing to pay child support.

Sidney Starr, meanwhile, previously dated “Right Thurr” rapper Chingy (though she later claimed it was a lie, and she only claimed to be dating him for clout). That “clout,” though, got her some starring roles in Lifetime’s Atlanta Plastic, E!’s Botched, and VH1’s Black Ink Crew: Chicago.

Eve Talks 1990s & 2000s Hip Hop Having A “Pureness” & “Uniqueness”

There will likely always be some level of a generational divide in Hip Hop. Twenty years from now, young rap fans will declare their favorite artists are better than the rhymers of today, and Gen Z rap fans will push back on that take.

Currently, many lovers of 1990s and 2000s Hip Hop look back at those time periods as special and unparalleled. For example, Eve spoke about what the culture represented two decades ago during an interview on The Daily Show.

Eve was on the Comedy Central program to promote ABC’s upcoming Queens. The musical drama stars Eve, Brandy, Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez as a reunited all-female Hip Hop group from the 1990s. Queens debuts October 19 at 10 pm ET.

“90s Hip Hop, 2000s Hip Hop – there was a movement at that time. There was a pureness. There was a uniqueness,” Eve told The Daily Show host Trevor Noah.

The expecting mother added, “The energy at that time was great. And that, for me, with this show [Queens]… I was like if we can capture that, people who know about that time will love the show. But also it’s not just the music, it’s the women.”

Eve rose to prominence in the late 1990s by appearing on hit songs with The Roots (“You Got Me”), Missy Elliott (“Hot Boyz”), and her Ruff Ryders comrades DMX, The Lox, and Drag-On (“Ryde or Die”). The Philadelphia-raised rapstress also stepped out as a lead act with songs like “What Y’all Want,” “Love Is Blind,” and “Let Me Blow Ya Mind.”

Her discography contains the 2x-Platinum album Let There Be Eve…Ruff Ryders’ First Lady which peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart in 1999. Eve also made it into the Top 10 with 2001’s Scorpion and 2002’s Eve-Olution.

Trevor Noah also asked Eve to share her thoughts on what she enjoys and dislikes about modern Hip Hop. The 42-year-old entertainment veteran sees the ability to be financially successful without major labeling backing as a plus.

“What I envy is the fact that you don’t need a label. You don’t need a co-signer. You can get out there and find your people the way you want to. I envy that. I love that,” said Eve.

On contemporary Hip Hop, Eve added, “There’s a lot of clones. I feel like back in the day uniqueness was celebrated. I think now there’s a lot of the sameness. And that for me, I’m just like, ‘Eh.’ It makes it boring a lot of the time, for me.”

Snoop Dogg Faces Lawsuit Over Posting Viral Video

The internet space is still the wild, wild west in many instances. Memes and viral videos fly across the web at rapid speed as social media users often share copyrighted and licensed content with their friends, family, and followers.

Snoop Dogg’s decision to upload a 104-second clip of a protestor scaling JPMorgan Chase’s Manhattan headquarters led to a lawsuit. He captioned the April 3-dated post, “Dummy of the week.” It currently has over 4.5 million views.

Billboard reports FreedomNews.TV is accusing Snoop of stealing copyrighted material from the media company and violating the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. According to Radar Online, FNTV LLC is seeking $150,000 in damages.

FreedomNews.TV claims Snoop Dogg posted an “exact copy” of footage owned by the outlet without permission. However, the self-described “small business news agency” reportedly admitted to not registering the video for a copyright until April 9, six days after Snoop’s post.

FNTV LLC is attempting to hold Snoop Dogg legally accountable for having an “active and pervasive role” in what appears on his social media accounts. Legal documents state, “Without permission or authorization from Plaintiff, Defendant volitionally selected, copied, stored and/or displayed Plaintiff’s copyright protected Video.”

The copyright infringement case against Snoop Dogg was filed in Los Angeles federal court on October 18. As of press time, the rapper born Calvin Broadus Jr., nor his representatives, have publicly addressed this legal situation.

Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg is said to be preparing to release another album in the coming weeks as part of a so-called “Aftermath Takeover” campaign. The Long Beach, California native will join Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar for the Super Bowl LVI halftime show on February 13, 2022.

Metro Boomin Names His Top 5 Atlanta Rappers Of All Time

Metro Boomin is one of the most notable music producers of the last decade. His work with various recording artists helped the St. Louis-bred beat maker win multiple “Producer of the Year” industry awards.

Throughout his production run, Metro Boomin created songs with many Atlanta-based rap stars. The Boominati Worldwide label head was asked to share his Top 5 ATL rhymers during an interview with the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast.

“You gotta put Pluto in there,” answered Metro, referring to his longtime collaborator Future. The 28-year-old Not All Heroes Wear Capes album creator also named T.I., Young Thug, Gucci Mane, and 21 Savage.

At first, Metro Boomin seemed to consider leaving 21 Savage off his list. Metro explained, “That’s my boy. I know him. He don’t give a f### about being considered like Top 5 artists.”

Besides crafting beats for singles and album cuts, Metro Boomin also joined forces with specific acts to record full collaborative efforts. He partnered with 21 Savage for the Savage Mode and Savage Mode II projects as well as the Without Warning album along with Offset of the Migos.

In addition, Metro Boomin linked up with Gucci Mane for the Droptopwop mixtape. Big Sean got together with Metro for Double or Nothing. Nav’s Perfect Timing was also produced entirely by Boomin.

Vanessa Bryant Files “KB24” Trademark To Secure Kobe’s Legacy

Vanessa Bryant severed ties with Nike back in April, ending the former merchandising partnership Kobe Bryant had with the company. And now, Vanessa has taken steps to create a sports and entertainment empire enabling Kobe’s legacy to continue.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CVLKIbLjGd4/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

When she made the decision not to renew the partnership with Nike back in April, Vanessa shared that, “Kobe’s Nike contract expired on 4/13/21.” She continued, “My hope will always be to allow Kobe’s fans to get and wear his products. I will continue to fight for that. Kobe’s products sell out in seconds. That says everything. I was hoping to forge a lifelong partnership with Nike that reflects my husband’s legacy. We will always do everything we can to honor Kobe and Gigi’s legacies. That will never change.”

TMZ Sports reported today (October 19,) that Vanessa has filed to trademark “KB24” so that she can do just that. The application was filed by the sporting icon’s company, “Kobe, Inc.” with Vanessa listed as the organization’s president.

The trademark application covers digital collectible items, websites, training camps, broadcasting platforms, podcasts, TV shows, movies, documentaries, and music. The “KB24” brand will also be used for sports cards, food/drink containers, and t-shirts.

Shoes are not specifically listed on the website although Vanessa has previously filed for trademarks covering those. As we previously reported, back in March, Vanessa applied for “Mamba” and “Mambacita” to include clothing and shoes.

Flavor Flav Arrested For Domestic Battery

It appears William “Flavor Flav” Drayton Jr. is facing legal trouble once again. The Public Enemy member was reportedly arrested for domestic violence in Nevada.

According to TMZ, Flavor Flav was taken into custody on October 5. The 62-year-old entertainer was booked on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.

The website reports:

We’re told cops responded to a call about a domestic disturbance and when they got there Flav was placed into custody and taken to the Henderson Detention Center. According to the criminal complaint, obtained by TMZ, Flav allegedly poked his finger on the alleged victim’s nose, grabbed her, threw her down and grabbed a phone out her hand. The City Attorney tells us Flavor Flav is officially charged with misdemeanor battery constituting domestic violence.

TMZ

This is not the first time someone accused Flavor Flav of domestic violence. The Flavor of Love star has also been arrested numerous times over the past thirty years, including arrests for attempted murder, driving under the influence, and drug possession charges.

“In alleged domestic violence cases, there are often 2 sides to the story and we will explain our side in the courtroom and not in the media,” Flavor Flav’s lawyer, David Chesnoff, told TMZ.

Young Thug Addresses His Issues with Kanye West Over Donda & Respect for Drake

Young Thug made his first-ever appearance on Hot 97’s “The Breakfast Club” recently and revealed some interesting tidbits about his relationships with his contemporaries. Of note was the conversation surrounding a potential issue with Kanye West.

Young Thug On Kanye

In a recent interview with Complex, Young Thug shared that he had to warn Kanye West that their friendship would be over if he wasn’t featured on “DONDA.” He revealed, “I just hit Kanye like, ‘Bro, if I ain’t on the album, we are not speaking,’”

He clarified his remarks during his conversation at “The Breakfast Club.”

“It ain’t that I wanted to be on it so bad, it’s just like, bruh, we got a hundred songs,” he explained. “You a billionaire. You at the point where it’s like, you don’t need none of this sh*t. We do though. So, if I was a [billionaire], if I was Kanye West or Jay-Z… I probably would have more features than anybody in the world.”

Young Thug Talks Respect For Drake

Going on to talk about Drake, an artist he has collaborated with many times in the past he said:

“If I’m at the point where I know me being on your song could make it a number one, I’m definitely getting on the song. That’s what I respect about Drake.”

He continued and said that Drake tries “to touch everybody and he genuinely do it. People think, ‘Oh, he do it for clout or he do it for these songs.’ That n*gga do not need no motherf*ckin’ clout.”

When Charlamagne Tha God suggested that Drake is the clout, Thugger replied with, “He’s Mr. Clout.”

Why No Appearance On “The Breakfast Club?”

Thugger had some issues with Charlemagne stemming from Birdman’s infamous appearance on the show back in 2016. Fortunately, those issues appear to be resolved because the situation was tense at one point!

Eminem Helps Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, E-40 and Too $hort Tease New Mt. Westmore Video

The wait is over! New music is on its way from Rap supergroup Mt. Westmore and the rollout was bolstered by some promotion from fellow legendary rapper, Eminem.

The Detroit rapper took to his socials to share a snippet of their video. Known to be a man of few words, outside of his raps, of course, he captioned the post simply, “@mount_westmore.”

The 30-second-long teaser clip features the group’s members in an out-of-this-world setting; showing scenes on a board spacecraft, an otherworldly looking planet, and a club with an assortment of aliens. While Ice Cube, Too $hort, and E-40 appear in pretty standard attire (Cube wearing trademark black shades and black knit beanie) Snoop is dressed as some sort of space super commander and is shown shooting up some funny looking extra-terrestrials.

All four of the west coast icons are set to perform together next month. Fans can see the collective put on at the Rupp Arena on Saturday, November 20.

Too Short confirmed that the group formed in December 2020 on the Serch Says podcast featuring Short Dawg. He explained that they have been regularly performing together for over five years, selling out 20, 30,000-person arenas.

“So I get a call during the early part of the quarantine from E-40 and Ice Cube going, ‘Man, we feel like we should do an album. Like me, you … it’s E-40, Cube, Too $hort and Snoop Dogg. And I’m like — E-40 and Too $hort from the Bay, Snoop Dogg and Cube are from L.A. and we like the West Coast foundation. We sat there and was like, ‘F### it, let’s do it.’ So, we start coming up with beats.”

Snoop recently revealed that he has unreleased music telling fellow Mt. Westmore member Too $hort on Eminem’s Shade45 channel on SiriusXM :

“In everybody’s solo song, they was the last verse of the song before that, except the one with me and Eminem, because I felt like that was like a big reveal. When ni**as hear that Eminem on that motherfu**er, that’s just a whole ‘nother level.”

Drake Gets Props From Wheelchair Organization For “Degrassi” Role

Drake, the chart-topping bi-racial Jewish rapper from Canada, has been making an impact of the inclusion and diversity space for years.

By excelling in his career and always proudly representing his heritage, he has opened racial and ethnic barriers on many stuck on color lines.

Now, an organization that fights for the rights of another underrepresented population is stepping up to give him flowers for bringing their humanity to the international forefront.

Wheelchairs 4 Kidswants the world to know that to the people that they advocate for the Champagne Papi (whose birth name is Aubrey Graham) as a superhero.

“But why?” you may be asking.

Long before Drake linked with Lil Wayne and Young Money, he was on a little show called “Degrassi.”

On “Degrassi,” he played a character named James “Jimmy” Brooks, an affluent student gifted with varsity level basketball skills. During the third season, after a school shooting, he was left disabled and unable to walk. This left him in a wheelchair for the rest of the series.

Despite that tragic accident that could have cost him his life on the show, Drake’s portrayal of Jimmy has triumphant — showcasing him as a leader and an important part of the community.

Madeline Robinson, the executive director of Wheelchairs for Kids, said that Drake (even before his celebrity) made having a wheelchair cool for kids and fulfilled the community’s need for representation.

Rhetorically Robinson asked, “When was the last time you went to a mall and saw a kid in a wheelchair hanging out with other kids?”

“It is great when we see our kids being represented,” she continued.

The role was initially a challenge for young Drake. As a teen/young adult, he was unsure about how the role would impact his career.

He reportedly thought that acting gig would make him look soft to his rap counterparts.

It is alleged that he even took legal action to stop the plot from playing out. But eventually, the “God’s Plan” rapper yielded that being in a wheelchair on TV was important for people to see.

Boosie Planning $20 Million Lawsuit Over Wild Brawl At State Farm Arena

Troubled rapper Boosie Badass has threatened to sue the Atlanta State Farm Arena after being arrested on charges from an early October incident at the venue.

He has taken to social media, as he has so many times before, to share his next plan of action.

Boosie, whose real name is Torrence Ivy Hatch, was arrested on October 11 on property damage charges by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.

AllHipHop.com reported that he was booked on two charges of second-degree criminal damage to property, inciting rioting, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespass.

According to police, while on the “Legendz of the Streetz” concert on Friday, October 10 (12:40 am), Boosie’s associates tore up the stage during his set and damaged property that belonged to an independent production company.

They also alleged that he incited a riot.

The “Wipe Me Down” rapper maintains that the law got it wrong. He says he and his friend were the victims of a crime. He says that he has footage of the entire melee.

Lil Boosie says that an unnamed person actually pistol-whipped his friend and that he is alarmed that anyone was even allowed in the venue with a firearm.

“State Farm not supposed to allow anyone with guns in the arena,” he said on Instagram. “You messed up. You really messed up.”

He also addressed him being banned from the arena despite him having season tickets. Outraged, he is seeking to sue SFA for $20 million.

Eminem’s Mom’s Spaghetti Didn’t Make A Cincinnati Bengals Lineman Sick

A Cincinnati Bengals lineman has clarified a story about Eminem’s Mom’s Spaghetti allegedly making the NFL player sick.

Bengals rookie Jackson Carman, who vomited during Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, revealed he’s never eaten anything from Eminem’s restaurant. The former Clemson standout shared this info after social media users and multiple news outlets incorrectly claimed Slim Shady’s food made him sick.

“FYI: I did not actually try the Moms Spaghetti Restaurant while I was in Detroit, I was referencing the @Eminem song lyrics,” Carman wrote on Twitter.

Eminem’s restaurant was blamed for Jackson Carman’s sickness thanks to a few tweets by the Bengals rookie.

Carman, whose team was playing in Detroit, asked his Twitter followers what the city was known for in terms of food. Some of the responses included Mom’s Spaghetti, Eminem’s newly opened restaurant in downtown Detroit.

After vomiting during the Bengals verus Lions game, Carman unintentionally fueled the rumor about Eminem’s food on social media. He joked about what made him sick by mentioning Slim Shady’s famous line from the single “Lose Yourself.”

“Would not recommend eating Moms spaghetti when you visit Detroit,” he wrote.

But understandably, many people assumed Carman was speaking about Eminem’s restaurant of the same name. On Monday, Carman felt the need to stop the wild speculation and clear up the confusion over his words.

Mom’s Spaghetti launched in Detroit on September 29. Eminem was on hand for the restaurant’s grand opening, serving food to multiple fans.

Social Media Roasts Bobby Shmurda Over His New Music And Dancing

Bobby Shmurda received a rough reception after previewing a new single on social media.

The 27-year-old rapper posted a clip of an upcoming music video via Twitter and Instagram on Monday. The footage featured him dancing, which he’s frequently done in the post-prison chapter of his career.

The “Free Bobby Shmurda” campaign seemed like something from the distant past as an overwhelmingly negative response flooded his social media. Twitter and Instagram critics went off on his music and ridiculed his dance moves.

Bobby Shmurda became a trending topic on Twitter. He also faced some harsh comments on his Instagram.

“bobby rly had one of the worst comebacks of all time,” one person commented. “bring back gs9 shmurda.”

A Twitter user bluntly declared, “Aye somebody tell Bobby Shmurda just go enjoy his freedom we good on the music.”

The Epic Records artist’s dancing was the most frequent target of mockery. It even became a source of memes.

“Yo… we spent YEARS saying and tweeting ‘Free Bobby Shmurda’ just for him to come home and become a belly dancer,” another Twitter user wrote. “I’m sick.”

Bobby Shmurda was released from prison in February. He signed a management deal with Roc Nation over the summer.

KRS-One And Hakim Green Join Forces Again On “The Cypher”

Hakim Green, fresh off a successful Verzuz battle with comrade KRS-One, has dropped a new song called “The Cypher.” The song serves as a dual role, to teach and to warn. Hakim, who met KRS many moons ago, gives a rundown of an actual rap cypher. But, his Bronx brother serves the ubiquitous sucker MC and the top shelf greats alike. “The goat that steps to KRS is the goat that gets curried,” he spews. One would think perhaps it was directed to a certain rapper. Hakim holds his own and continues with fresh, insightful he’s known for. “The cypher’s so sacred, takes place on hallowed ground,” he says as he gives the rules and history.

In a statement, he reveals his true intention as well as the legendary producer behind the track.

“The MAD IZM Cypher is the place to be. The Cypher is where skills are exhibited and Hip Hop is proven. The mission is to get in THE CYPHER and wreck shop. Hakim is on a journey to catch up with The Teacha to show once and for all why The Mad IZM Cypher is where The Real Hip Hop is. Produced by legendary Hit Man producer Ron “Amen Ra” Lawrence, The Cypher brings us back to that BOOM BAP style of HIP HOP that is predicated on exposing the listener to obscure BREAK BEATS and heavy scratches. This will definitely be a DJ favorite.”
