Magic Johnson Docuseries About HIV Diagnosis In Production

LFormer basketball ace Magic Johnson will share the story of his shocking 1991 HIV diagnosis and its aftermath in a new Apple TV+ documentary series.

The then-Los Angeles Lakers star was one of the first celebrities to announce he had the virus, which was viewed as a potentially fatal condition primarily affecting gay men.

Johnson not only helped raise awareness of HIV and AIDS but removed much of the stigma surrounding them.

Now, 30 years later, he is revisiting the shattering moment the LA Lakers’ team doctor gave him the terrible news.

“You just sit there and say, ‘What does this mean? Am I gonna die?'” he told U.S. TV presenter Gayle King during a joint interview with his wife, Cookie Johnson, on CBS Mornings.

“I’m asking 100 times, ‘Are you sure?’ And they say, ‘Hey, we ran the tests a couple of times, and yes, you do have HIV.’ And so I just lost it right there.”

Magic and Cookie had married only 45 days before receiving the shocking news, and she was pregnant at the time, but the sportsman’s wife was much more worried her man might die than that he may have been unfaithful to her.

“It wasn’t how he got it that was important to me. It was, ‘You’re possibly going to die.’ And that trumped everything,” she said.

Thankfully, both Cookie and the child she subsequently gave birth to, son Earvin “EJ” Johnson III, both tested negative for the virus.

Magic, meanwhile, admits he quickly got busy because he had to “really learn a lot” about HIV and Aids.

“I had to make sure that I was open-minded enough to ask a lot of questions, go get a lot of information from different people,” he explained.

The hoops legend eventually founded The Magic Johnson Foundation to raise awareness about the virus and pushed government officials to allocate funds for research.

Today, Magic’s HIV is undetectable, but he still takes a daily “cocktail” of medicines, telling King, “everything is great”.

A release date for the four-part series, which will include previously unseen interviews and an “unprecedented look at one of sport’s all-time greats”, according to a statement, has not yet been announced.

KNOW YA HIP HOP: Dr. Dre, Doug E. Fresh, Grand Master D, And More

On November 6, 2021, the Universal Hip Hop Museum and AllHipHop.com are set to celebrate Hip Hop History Month by highlighting Dr. Dre and a fire skate party at the Eclipse Roller Rink in East New York, Brooklyn.

When people say Dr. Dre’s name, it is usually with reverence & respect 💯 The man who started his career as a DJ, producer, & vocalist for the World Class Wreckin’ Cru, can surely say that his name is synonymous with West Coast Hip Hop.

As a founding member of N.W.A., he helped break Gangsta Rap into the mainstream and by the time he became a solo artist (and producer), he simply became a staple on the charts.

Artists like Snoop, Eve, Eminem, and 50 Cent point to him as a major influencer in their lives and brands like his labels (Death Row, 1991-1996 & Aftermath 1996 to the present) and Beats by Dre allows him to say that he is one of the richest men in Hip Hop 💰

Fun fact: Dr. Dre’s name was inspired by the basketball player, Julius “Dr. J” Erving.

It was Saturday, November 6, 1982, D.J. O.C. and Crazy Eddie & The Fearless Four headlined a jam at the Eclipse Roller Rink in East New York, Brooklyn. Imagine paying $7.00 to see performing that night a 16-year-old Doug E. Fresh, the first recognized human beatbox, with his Get Fresh Crew brother D.J. Chill Will. Or even better a young DJ Grand Master “D,” before he joined the group that made him an international star, Whodini.

Also on that show was M.C. Tony & The Crew.

Republican Councilman Vincent Kelly Apologizes For Dressing As Flavor Flav And Wearing Blackface

New Jersey councilman is under fire dressing in blackface in 2021. Despite the civil unrest that sparked a huge racial divide across the United States in 2020, the newly elected Vincent Kelly thought it would be funny to celebrate Halloween as the dark-skinned rapper, Flavor Flav.

Yes. You read it right.

He says that he is sorry and that when he bought the costume in 2008, he didn’t know that a white man dressing up as someone he admired, was wrong.

“In 2008 I purchased and wore a Flavor Flav costume to a Halloween party where guests were expected to dress as a celebrity. At the time Flavor Flav’s yelling of ‘yeah boy’ made him incredibly popular, wearing the costume was a celebration of his fame,” he said.

On Friday, a picture from the holiday party when he wore the costume emerged on the internet dressed like the Public Enemy hype man. Judy Walker with the Pitman Anti-Racist Collective shared the photo that was posted on the Republican Councilman’s personal Facebook page to a) expose him but also b) call for an educated correction.

She said, “It’s pretty shocking, but our goal is not to cancel him, it’s to educate him.”

Loretta Winters with the Gloucester County NAACP didn’t sound as altruistic, laying it at the feet of the systemic racism birthed out of America’s lack of race-related tolerance or respect.

She informed the Philadelphia CBS local affiliate, “White folks used to dress up as a minstrel to mock Black people, to exaggerate comedy, to laugh at them. So we take it very serious and it does hurt.”

“It’s unacceptable and it shouldn’t come from our elected officials,” she said. “It tells me that the homework was not done, the homework and the research on the candidates were not done.”

Kelly must have gotten the memo. Less than a day after the picture went viral, he released a statement saying the following:

“Years later I briefly used the picture as a cover photo on my Facebook page during the Halloween season, changed the picture after the season, and frankly forgot about it until recent events.

“I do understand that we live in a very different time and today, even as a celebration of one’s fame, I would not even consider wearing a costume that included blackface. I apologize to anyone who may be hurt by my costume choice of years ago and will soon reach out to the Pitman Anti-Racist Collective so we can hopefully schedule a meeting and have some open, honest dialogue.”

The story is developing.

John Legend Calls Ye an “Underdog Narcissist”

John Legend is convinced Ye backed Donald Trump because they were both “underdog narcissists.”

John admitted he was surprised when Ye supported the controversial former president and ultimately decided to run for office himself because his pal had never shown any political interest.

Speaking to author Danny Goldberg for his book “Bloody Crossroads 2020: Arts, Entertainment, and Resistance to Trump,” John Legend said: “I don’t see Kanye as a political person at all. We never talked about politics. He had never voted before 2020.”

Theorizing on Kanye’s support for Trump, he added: “He saw in Trump the kind of underdog narcissist that he sees in himself.”

John Legend also recalled the surreal night when he performed on the night of President Joe Biden’s inauguration, which took place two weeks after a group of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in a bid to overturn the election results.

He said: “Washington was a ghost town. It was just troops and no one else. We didn’t defund the National Guard, I’ll tell you that. They were intent on making sure whatever storm that QAnon thought was going to happen did not happen.

“(But the performance) felt good. I literally sang the song Feeling Good. It felt like a release.”

The singer gave his support to Biden after his first choice, Senator Elizabeth Warren, failed to land enough votes to receive the Democratic nomination and he thinks the president has the right attitude to the job.

John Legend said: “Am I going to agree with 100 percent of what Biden does? No, but I know that he’s going to do what he thinks is right, and he’s going to do it in a way that I think is genuinely concerned about the safety and welfare of the American people. And that’s a big change.

Fetty Wap Receives Half A Mil Bail After Feds Nab Him On Drug Charges

Rapper Fetty Wap has been granted bail. His team has dished out half a million dollars for him to be released from jail after his Rolling Loud arrest a week ago.

According to TMZ, the “Trap Queen” artist’s legal team negotiated a $500,000 bail with moderate and appropriate conditions for his release. He will be required to wear a GPS monitoring device.

The courts are also asking that he give up his passport and ask for permission from them to travel for his future performances and upcoming touring dates.  Lastly, he has to submit drug testing.

As reported by AllHipHop.com, the New Jersey native was arrested in October right before taking the stage at the Rolling Loud concert in Queens, New York.

The Feds allege that he and a group of other hustlers were peddling drugs.  They believe that the collective was pushing over 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, crack cocaine, and fentanyl from the West Coast and distributed them to smaller dealers in New Jersey, through the five boroughs, and up to Long Island. They used USPS trucks to get them from one destination to the next.

It is believed that the chart-topper could possibly face up to life in prison if he is found guilty. And it looks dim.

The feds found, according to TMZ, “$1.5 million in cash, firearms, 16 kilos of cocaine, 2 kilos of heroin, plus fentanyl pills.”

Many are wondering if Rolling Loud is working with the feds. This is not the first time that artists were arrested at this particular festival.

“Rolling Loud may be the feds but their shows always look real put together”

“i said it i’ll say it again Rolling loud is the mf feds”

“Going to Rolling Loud NY 2019 confirmed to me I wouldn’t never do mosh pits again in my life. It’s too f###### much I was fed up. RIP to those who died last night smh”

This story is still developing.

Boosie “Accosted” By Lil Nas X Fan

The cold war of words on the internet between Boosie and Lil Nas X is spilling over in real life.
Boosie has made his disdain for Lil Nas X very clear over the last year.
The Baton Rouge, Louisiana rapper has threatened to attack Lil Nas X on stage after the “Old Town Road” hitmaker kissed a male dancer during the 2021 BET Awards.
Late last month, the pair were at it again when Lil Nas X trolled Boosie and claimed he was going to collaborate with the openly homophobic rapper.
Lil Nas’ comments led to Boosie posting a tweet calling him a f##### and telling the pop star to commit suicide. Boosie eventually backtracked a little bit during a livestream where he said that he did not hate Lil Nas X.
Now it appears Lil Nas X’s fans are coming to the aid of their hero in a video that has gone viral.
Footage circulating on the net shows a man dressed in what appears to be a purple bathrobe claiming to be Lil Nas X’s niece. As Boosie exited a restaurant, the man aggressively walked up to the rapper and threatened to fight him.

“Lil Nas X, that’s my niece, and b#### I’ll beat you up. Talk s### now,” the man fumes.
Boosie, who beat a murder charge in 2012, was on the verge of losing his temper.
“Whoever the f### you is, you better get the f### out of here,” to which the man snaps back, “I ain’t no scary punk b####.”
Boosie, who appears to be with his son, replied, “f### you b####, you f##### ass b####,” as his kid pulled him away from what appeared to be an inevitable confrontation.
As if the situation was not odd enough, the boom microphones and cameras videotaping made the altercation even more suspect.
Boosie has yet to comment on the viral video, which had him trending on social media.

Astroworld Festival May Have Been “Targeted” For Attack Causing Mass Casualties

More details are coming forward about what may have caused a tragic stampede at Travis Scott’s AstroWorld Festival – and they are disturbing.

At least eight people were killed, and more than 300 people were injured after a massive stampede during Travis Scott’s set on Friday (November 5th).

Many concertgoers also went into cardiac arrest.

Initially, authorities believed the pressure from the crowd may have caused asphyxiation, which could have explained why some people went into cardiac arrest.

A source connected with the Astroworld festival told TMZ that someone in the crowd started injecting people with “some sort of drug,” which caused the crowd to panic.
Authorities are trying to determine if the people who went into cardiac arrest were injected with the unknown drug.
Although the report has not been confirmed, the source said it was a “targeted attack.”

Travis Scott had to stop his 75-minute performance, which featured Drake, at least three times to ask medics to help concertgoers in distress.

Footage circulating shows a chaotic scene where paramedics were performing CPR on unconscious fans.

“I’m absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival,” Travis Scott said. “Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life. am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need. Thank you to Houston PD, Fire Department and NRG Park for their immediate response and support. Love You All.”

A concert court named Angel Rodriguez, who was 50 feet from the stage, said the pressure from the crowd made it impossible to breathe.

“It was so hard to move your arms, and it was so hard to breathe, that I was there, like pushing whoever was in front of me just to, get a breather, just to breathe,” Rodriguez told CNN.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner commented on the unfolding tragedy in his city.

“The city of Houston extends our condolences to the loved ones of eight people killed & several injured at #ASTROWORLDFest. Organizers held the event to bring people together for music, but it sadly ended in tragedy. Thanks to police, fire & other agencies that responded to assist,” Mayor Turner said.

More than 50,000 people attended the sold-out festival, which was supposed to take place over two days at NRG Park.

However, the Astroworld Festival was canceled in the wake of the tragedy.

At Least 8 People Killed At Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival

At least eight people were killed at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival last night (November 5th).

According to local authorities, a large crowd rushed from the back towards the front of the stage during Travis Scott’s set around 8:30 PM.

The surge caused mass casualties, as well as at least 300 injuries. Police are also looking into what caused a group of concertgoers to go into cardiac arrest suddenly.

Travis also stopped his performance several times and called for paramedics to help concertgoers in distress.

“Our hearts are with the Astroworld Festival family tonight – especially those we lost and their loved ones. We are focused on supporting local officials however we can,” organizers said in a statement. “With that in mind, the festival will no longer be held on Saturday. As authorities mentioned in their press conference earlier, they are looking into the series of cardiac arrests that took place. If you have any relevant information on this, please reach out to @houstonpolice. Thank you to our partners at the Houston Police Department, Fire Department, and NRG Park for their response and support.”

Over 50,000 people were at the two-day festival, which kicked off on Friday.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott weighed in on the tragedy early this morning (November 6th).

“What happened at Astroworld Festival last night was tragic, and our hearts are with those who lost their lives and those who were injured in the terrifying crowd surge,” Governor Abbot said.

According to fire chief Samuel Pena, the exact causes of death are still being determined and what made the crowd surge forward. One concert goer told the New York Times that the concert was hectic from the beginning.

“I got there around 3:00 and saw people already struggling to stand straight,” said Neema Djavadzadeh. “There was a lot of my mentality going on, people willing to do whatever to be in line for merge, food, shows, you name it. A lot of fights broke out throughout the day.”

Travis Scott launched the Astroworld Festival in 2018. This year’s bill would have featured many top rappers, including Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, 21 Savage, Young Thug, and others.

However, the rest of the Astroworld Festival has been canceled as authorities investigate.

Travis Scott Opens Campus Garden At Houston Elementary School

Travis Scott gave back to his hometown of Houston ahead of his 2021 Astroworld Festival.

The Epic Records artist unveiled the first Cactus Jack Garden at Houston’s Young Elementary School on Wednesday. Travis Scott partnered with the Houston Independent School District to bring gardens to several campuses in the city.

Travis Scott dedicated the garden to his grandmother Miss Sealie Terrell, who was in attendance at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Cactus Jack Garden was inspired by a garden she grew during his childhood.

“We grew up not too far from here on Rosehaven,” he said. “She used to have a garden in her backyard that looked similar to this. All she did was make flowers for people around the neighborhood and for family and mostly for anyone that asked, so it’s kind of crazy that we’re able to bring this to the elementary school and allow kids to have that same experience.”

Travis Scott teamed up with HISD to help children learn about agriculture, food and nutrition through gardening. He donated seedling kits to Young Elementary students for them to grow at school and at home.

“Hopefully, it gives these kids some sort of inspirational thing to do every day and kind of help them look forward to the future,” he said.

Travis Scott also set up a new basketball court at Houston’s Sunnyside Park and hosted a charity softball game at Minute Maid Park. The charitable acts were part of the lead-up to the 2021 Astroworld Festival, which begins on Friday.

NEW MUSIC: Josh Stone Recruits Dave East For New Single, “Slide 101”

Dave East and Josh Stone have paired up for a brand-new banger called “Slide 101.” Check it out below.

Stone and Dave East linked up to make the rhythmic record together during the Covid-19 pandemic while Quad Studios (in the heart of Times Square) was locked down. The video was shot in Long Island, NY three weeks after the song had been produced. During filming an outdoor wedding was taking place next door, and the wedding guests — along with the bride and groom — wound up in the video.

“I wanted to make something for the strip clubs and regular clubs. Slide 101 is something to cross over mainstream music that can catch a buzz with Dave East being on the feature. This record is just a time where hard work met opportunity and made it count,” Stone said.

This is the first of many singles that Josh Stone is set to drop. He’s currently working on an EP, an LP, and a Real Vibez Only album. And with diverse influences that run the gamut from G-Unit and Maino to Eminem and Nipsey Hussle, Stone is proving that Strong Island is just getting started when it comes to taking over hip-hop.

“Slide 101” is available on all streaming platforms now.

Ye Didn’t Think Kim Kardashian’s SNL Joke About Divorce Was Funny

Ye has insisted his divorce from Kim Kardashian is “no joke” because he still wants to be with the reality star.

Ye appeared on the podcast “Drink Champs” on Thursday for his first interview since the release of his album DONDA and touched upon numerous topics during the lengthy interview – one of which was his impending divorce from Kim, the mother of his four children.

Reflecting on Kim’s recent appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” during which she joked about her marriage split, Kanye said: “‘SNL’ making my wife say, ‘I divorced him,’ on TV because they just wanted to get that bar off, and I ain’t see the papers. We’re not even divorced… They ain’t no joke to me. My kids want they parents to stay together. I want us to be together.”

It’s been claimed that the podcast was recorded before the pictures emerged of Kim and Pete Davidson, who appear to have embarked on a fledgling relationship after being seen on two consecutive date nights earlier this week.

Kanye continued to admit he’s spoken to the pastor at his church about “wanting to put his family back together.”

In the interview, Kanye reflected on his long-running feud with Drake, likening it to sports rivalries.

“It’s all psychological, right? So, it’s like what pen, what button is someone gonna hit?” he shrugged.

Just Blaze Responds To Kanye West’s “Drink Champs” Interview Insults

Just Blaze heard what Kanye West had to say on REVOLT’s Drink Champs.

The acclaimed producer was insulted by Kanye West and labeled a copycat in an interview with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN. Just Blaze reacted to his former collaborator’s comments in a message posted on social media.

“I’m only addressing this publicly because it was stated publicly,” he wrote. “I’m not here for mudslinging, I’m just a bit confused and disappointed. None of what was said tonight regarding me fits with any of our history or our previous interactions – particularly in light of very recent attempts to work together again.”

Just Blaze noted, “Through recent years [Kanye West] has reached out to collaborate on various projects, including a much rumored collaborative project that he was looking for me to handle a good amount of. It unfortunately never saw the light of day due to reasons unrelated to me. Most recently, a couple of months back I woke up to a literal red alert from his people that he was looking for me for his last album in the 11th hour. We tried to pull something off but it was way too last minute.”

https://www.instagram.com/tv/CV5bwqfMUzG/?utm_medium=copy_link

On Drink Champs, Kanye West slammed Just Blaze. Ye derisively compared their career trajectories in addition to labeling Jay-Z’s longtime producer a copycat.

“He get credit for The Blueprint, and I did the first half of The Blueprint, and he just copied my half,” Yeezy said. “Look where I’m at today and look where he at today.”

Just Blaze concluded his response by addressing Kanye West’s remarks about his career. He also asked the media to not use his words for clickbait.

“Regarding that one comment: respectfully, I’m happy for him and the fact that he has succeeded in the ways he wanted to, but not everyone wants to be where he is,” he explained. “Everyone’s definition of personal success if a bit different. I’m quite happy where I am creatively, with my family, and my life in general. We were a part of history together and I wish him well and continued success.”

This time, rapper JayDaYoungan was picked up by law enforcement for the fourth time in three months.

The feds’ division of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives poured in to snatch the 23-year-old rapper, whose real name is Javorious Tykies, up.

According to The Advocate, the charges for his latest arrest are not clear.

Last week JayDaYoungan was in Washington Parish jail for five days on drug and weapon possession charges.

On September 16, he was arrested in Tangipahoa Parish on counts of accessory to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice to a crime linked to a shooting in that town that left one dead and two injured.

The first charge was on August 20. JayDaYoungan was pulled over and arrested for recklessly driving high speed with his passenger door open in Washington Parish.

He had two passengers in the car. One was a baby who was sitting without a seatbelt on a woman’s lap. For this incident, he was charged with the careless operation of a vehicle, no child restraint, and driving with a suspended license.

Well, who is he?

JaDayYoungan might not be as known to the mainstream as he is to Louisiana cops, but he is pretty popular to some.

His three songs “23 Island,” “Elimination” and “Opps,” combined have a total of 170 million streams on Spotify. Fans are out there and surely concerned that this legal trouble might stop him from making great music.

Or maybe not. As reported by AllHipHop.com, NBA YoungBoy, who is also from his hometown, just dropped a chart-topping project while he was locked up.

Let’s hope this is not a part of a new rollout for an album.

This story is developing.
