Rapper Gushy Bursts Onto The Scene With Catchy New Single “Cheeky Spending”

The music industry is becoming highly competitive for new artists. With the advent of social media, the music industry has become more challenging but open to new talent. The pandemic lockdown has further fuelled the popularity of social media, which gives budding artists a way to attract an audience. Gushy, a unique music talent, has explored this opportunity to earn his audience on social media and is emerging as a promising star.

Before stepping into the music industry, Gushy was just another music lover. He loved listening to U.K raps and could be lost in his thoughts for hours. The lyrics often made him think. Gushy has always been a dreamer and that’s what separates him from other artists. He realized that the subjects of most of his favorite artists were similar. They talk about money, love, addiction, struggle, etc., and that is what makes their songs alike. He noticed that despite the similar topics, the songs resonate among the audience and gain huge popularity. This is what helped him discover the subjects of his song.

Since the beginning of his journey into the music industry, Gushy wanted to be unique. Even though he decided to focus on similar topics like romance, wealth, addiction, obsession, etc. he wanted to create a signature style. He began working on his craft and soon managed to separate himself from the crowd.

Gushy’s raps are unique in their tone that combines with notes of rap with a smooth flow of lyrics which is unlike the aggression that people often relate to raps. He recently released his single “Cheeky Spending”, which is charting higher on every social media platform. The song was released on the YouTube platform “GRM daily”. Within a few months, it has garnered thousands of views. This is quite an accomplishment for a musician who is a newbie to the industry.

“Cheeky Spending” is directed by JFX and features Gushy in his signature looks. True to its title, the song speaks about the cheeky expenses that people are becoming obsessed with. From luxury cars to branded clothes and accessories, the show-offs are on a whole new level and they do not understand how superficial they are. In an attempt to look rich, people run after things that make them look classy without realizing their true worth as human beings.

The video is shot in posh locations featuring skyscrapers and Rolls Romance. The classy backdrops complement the theme of the song. It has a dark undertone that hints at the fake trend of cheeky spending that we blindly follow. From expensive gifts to high-end cars, life seems to revolve around brands for us. It’s all about money and luxury now. With this message, Gushy has managed to connect with the audiences who loved the song for its unique appeal and fresh notes that break the conventional style of rapping.

After the release of “Cheeky Spendings”, Gushy received a series of offers from big names in the music industry. He is interested in working with some of them. His fans will soon come to know about his upcoming projects on his Instagram account. Gushy has already chosen to be a part of the Wireless Festival. With his career gradually scaling up, he hopes his hard work will turn his dreams into reality.

Blackground Records 2.0 partnered with EMPIRE to curate worldwide wall projections in honor of Aaliyah. The campaign kicked off last night at 8:30 pm in the late “Are You That Somebody?” hitmaker’s hometown.

Detroit will host the Aaliyah projections through today (August 26). Rochelle Riley, Director of Arts and Culture for the City of Detroit, was involved in presenting the special tribute to the Brooklyn-born singer/actress.

The projected sightings campaign will also take place at sundown in the other major American locales of Miami, New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Chicago. International markets will include London, Berlin, and Amsterdam in Europe.

“On this day 20 years ago, our worlds were completely shattered when we learned that Aaliyah was no longer with us. Life would never be the same,” reads a statement from Blackground Records 2.0 dated August 25, 2021.

The Barry Hankerson-founded label continued, “Aaliyah was a light. A sweet and genuine soul that was such an inspiration to us all. Thank you so much to all of Aaliyah’s fans who continue to keep her legacy alive and inspire people around the world. She will forever be in our hearts.”

In addition to the global projections, Blackground Records 2.0 also recently added Aaliyah’s sophomore album One In A Million to streaming services for the first time. The 1996 studio LP is expected to jump into the Billboard 200 chart’s Top 10 region next week.

TDE Introduces New Roster Member Ray Vaughn With ‘Peer Pressure’ EP

It appears Pulitzer Prize-winning emcee Kendrick Lamar is close to amicably parting ways with Top Dawg Entertainment. However, the Los Angeles-based record label is not slowing down on presenting fresh talent.

25-year-old Long Beach artist Ray Vaughn is the newest TDE signee. Vaughn’s introduction as part of Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith’s record label is accompanied by a 3-track EP titled Peer Pressure.

“I’d love to tell you how I created the project, but to tell you the truth, to revisit the place of brutal honesty these songs came from is a chaotic process,” states Ray Vaughn, “Don’t take me too seriously, honestly, just learn to have fun.”

Peer Pressure hosts the songs “Not Allowed,” “Top Shottas,” and “Tap.” The 8-minute project, released via Top Dawg Entertainment, follows Ray Vaughn dropping his 2019 independent album Idle.

Ray Vaughn’s rise as a recording artist began with his “Freestyle Fridays” video series which originally was just a way for the rhymer to entertain his friends and family. In 2019, he also spit a freestyle over Tsu Surf’s “What if’ instrumental on Bootleg Kev & DJ Hed’s Real 92.3 radio show.

Plus, Vaughn created the theme song for the upcoming animated series The Freak Brothers starring Woody Harrelson, Pete Davidson, Tiffany Haddish, and La La Anthony.

Ray Vaughn is now part of a Top Dawg Entertainment roster that also currently includes Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, SiR, Lance Skiiiwalker, and Reason.

Flavor Flav Confirms He’s on the New Dre Album and it’s Coming Soon

Dr. Dre has not released an album since 2015’s “Compton” and fans have been waiting for new music! Dre has been working on a project for years now, hoped by fans to be the mythical “Detox.”

The “Detox” album was first touted by Dre way back in 2002 but delayed, reportedly so he could produce for Eminem and 50 Cent. The project was eventually shelved in 2015 with Dre claiming that album sessions failed to meet his expectations.

The little known about the long-awaited album comes from a scattering of interviews over the years, this latest titbit is no different. In an appearance on the “Wild Ride! with Steve-O” podcast, Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav shared some news of the project.

“I was just at Dr. Dre’s house a week and a half ago. One of the best people in the world, man,” he says. “Not only that but I’m honored for him to have me record something at his house for his upcoming album that’s getting ready to come out. That’s big to me, man. C’mon. Flavor Flav on a Dr. Dre album? Man. Word. That’s big to me, bro.”

2021 has seen Dre suffer a brain aneurysm in January and a high-profile divorce from wife Nicole Young. Once released from the hospital, Dre hopped quickly back into the studio to record. Collaborator and fellow producer, Dem Jointz took to his Instagram to announce the news and whipped fans into a frenzy, initially captioning the post “And We Back!! #Detox21.” Curiously, the hashtag has now disappeared. And We Back!! #Detox21.”

The hit producer made headlines earlier this month after his adult daughter, LaTanya Young claimed to be homeless and launched a GoFundMe to raise money for a home for herself and her four children.

Lizzo Talks Drake Reaching Out Over “Rumors” Lyric About Him

“No, I ain’t f### Drake yet,” says Lizzo on her latest single “Rumors” with Cardi B. That line led to fans having a lot of questions about what inspired the singer to mention the OVO Sound leader on the record.

Lizzo was asked about the Drake lyric a few weeks ago. She told Apple Music, “I just thought it would be so funny to say. I have a small relationship with him. He’s very cool. I just feel like women, there are so many times where girls’ names get dropped in songs because they’re fine.”

The subject of not having sex with Drake came up again during Lizzo’s recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Former One Direction member Niall Horan was filling in for Kimmel as the guest host for the late-night talk show.

“Okay, so the original line was, ‘No, I ain’t f### Niall yet.’ The label said it was a little bit provocative. So I changed it to Drake, a safer bet,” joked Lizzo on the ABC program.

The 3-time Grammy winner added, “I think [Drake has] heard the number four song in the country. I think he’s heard it. Actually, I have heard from Drake, but that’s all I’m going to say on that.”

Lizzo and Cardi B’s “Rumors” opened at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song became Lizzo’s highest-debuting entry on the Billboard rankings of the most popular singles in America.

The “Rumors” music video has amassed more than 21 million views on YouTube since it premiered on August 13. The Tanu Muino-directed visuals are still one of the top trending videos in the platform’s music section.

Lil Nas X Announces Release Date For His Debut Album ‘Montero’

Lil Nas X has been a major topic in entertainment news throughout the year for several controversial moments. The 22-year-old rapper is looking to grab more headlines when he drops his debut album next month.

Montero is scheduled to arrive on September 17. The forthcoming 15-track project follows previous Lil Nas X full-length releases such as 2018’s Nasarati mixtape and 2019’s 7 EP.

“Creating this album has been therapy for me. I’ve learned to let go of trying to control people’s perception of who I am, what I can do, and where I will be. I’ve realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own,” stated Lil Nas X.

The single “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” was released in March of this year. That song debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and went on to earn 2x-Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.

Lil Nas X also scored another Top 5 hit in 2021 with “Industry Baby” featuring Jack Harlow. The “Industry Baby” music video caused a lot of commotion when cultural critics, like Boyce Watkins, complained about the male-on-male dancing taking place in the prison-set visual.

Earlier in the year, Lil Nas X was also chastised for his “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” video using satanic imagery and for selling “Satan Shoes” that reportedly contained real human blood. He caught flack for kissing a man at the BET Awards as well.
