What Irv Gotti Had To Know When He Made Those DMX Comments!

So, I have purposely not commented on this to date. There’s a reason for this but I’ll get into that later. First things first, Irv Gotti has apologized for alleging publicly that DMX died due to a horrific overdose of fentanyl and crack. If you don’t know about fentanyl then leave it alone, because the drug is deadly. It’s really affecting white communities more than Black communities, but we know that crack affected Black communities disproportionately. Also: Ronald Reagan. So, Irv Gotti has apologized for revealing this information to the public. In his apology, he seems to refer to other media outlets as the real source of the information. Personally, I don’t even know about all that. I didn’t see anything about fentanyl and DMX until he said it.

No excuses!

Anyway, a conversation with Tashera Simmons is the result of this apology. So the apology is good, and all that, but it’s still a bad look. At the end of the day, we love DMX as an artist and as a person and to hear these words come from one of his homies, it’s different than hearing it come from The Shade Room. Let’s keep it a buck here! That said, His apology has not been received so well in other places in spaces.

Swizz Beatz has not accepted the apology, calling Irv Gotti a “bozo”! Now, you have to remember all of these guys have known each other for a very long time, upwards of 30 years and some change. Irv God he is the guy that got DMX his deal at DefJam, but they go back even farther than that. Irv is also a producer so he was producing songs for X back in the day.

Irv Gotti Bozo

There may not be any beef to this, but it is a testament to how folks feel openly calling him a bozo like that. By the way, this comment came under a post by 50 Cent, who always takes liberties to diss Ja Rule and Irv. Nevertheless, this is quite crazy to me. I think Irvin is out of favor with Ruff Ryders and Swizz, but he was at the funeral without incident.

There is a slight other side to this. The interviewer of Irv, Kendra G, who used to love me (just kidding) at one point, made a lengthy comment and presented another side.

I wish I could go back in time and see how the world would have taken that one part of the interview. Most people only saw that clip but we talked for over 30 mins and you showed so much love for X the whole time! The question was where were you when you found out X died and you started off talking about your son’s party and then you just stated you knew it was gonna happen because of that information … you even got choked up. Because we had already knew the information we had had no idea the impact that 11 seconds would have. What has been breaking my heart the most is the fact that people are questioning your love for X!! YOU LOVED HIM SO MUCH!!! We all learned many lessons From this moment. I pray people can understand you truly meant no harm ❤️ love you Gotti

The only thing with what Kendra G is squawkin’ ’bout is that she knows how this works. I know how this works and Irv Gotti knows how this work. If you I say, “I love Jay-Z…Jay-Z is the GOAT…Oh how I love Jay-Z. Jay-Z sold my momma crack. Man, he’s a real role model for success and overcoming the olds, by any means. Salute, Hov!” You know, they are going to focus on ONE part of that quote and pull it out. That’s what they call a PULL QUOTE.

Jack Harlow Avoids Death During Kentucky Derby Shooting/Homicide

Rapper Jack Harlow literally dodged a bullet this weekend during a wild encounter in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

The rapper was back in town for the Kentucky Derby, and he decided to drop in to the “2021 Derby Weekend Kickoff” at the Vibes Restaurant and Ultra Lounge earlier this morning (May 1st).

Jack was chilling and having a good time, when a woman, a man, and some other people became embroiled in a physical confrontation around 1:00 a.m.

TMZ captured footage of the fight, which ended in gunshots, sending everyone, including Jack, scrambling for their lives.

Unfortunately, one of the women involved in the tussle was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound, while another man was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover from his injury.

“Authorities say the club was well attended at the time of the incident however there were no other injuries,” according to LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley. “The Homicide Unit is handling the investigation and believe both shootings took place inside the venue.”

So far, police have yet to identify the suspect who fired the fatal shot.

Irv Gotti Apologizes For DMX Comments After Swizz Beatz And 50 Cent Call Him Out

After putting his foot in his mouth in a radio interview, producer and music executive Irv Gotti is apologizing for misspeaking about the circumstances around DMX’s death.

The Queens native took to Instagram and wrote, alongside a picture of him and The Dog, his love for the deceased rapper, “1st off. Let me say again. How much I love my n#### X. The fact that this is coming into Question is the only reason why I feel the need to address the b#######. I love X and love him Unconditionally and that won’t change til I die. Dog Love.”

A post shared by Irving Lorenzo (@irvgotti187)

Then he addressed his slip on the radio.

“Now the interview I did for @wgci and @kendragmedia is the interview where I said what I said about DMX. Now Everything I said. Had already been reported in the media. If you look back at @balleralert and
@theshaderoomand other media outlets. everything I said had been out there already. I did not break anything I said. But you know what. I understand. No one wanted to hear it from me. And for that I am truly sorry. To ever make people think. I don’t love my n#### X.”

DMX and Irv Gotti have had close to a 30-year history.

Their professional relationship and brotherhood goes back to the Blunt Recordings/TVT Records and Gotti was even the one that introduced X to Lyor.

Had that introduction not happened, who would have known what might have happened. Their history demonstrated a sincere love.

“Anybody that knows me or knew X. Cannot ever front like me and X didn’t share a special bond. I put my whole career on the line for X. And did things for X that is unquestionable. Our relationship grew and grew to the point where I feel I understood X and the love he wanted. That’s why I say DOG LOVE. Unconditional LOVE is what I gave X. It didn’t matter to me anything he was doing. I loved him. And always would try and do the best for him.”

He tried to make amends, particularly after so many people have expressed disapproval or disappointment.

“I spoke with @tasherasimmons Who I love also. And I apologized as soon as I seen it went left. I explained to her I was only saying things that I heard reported already. To which she said they don’t know if it’s real yet. They are waiting for the doctors to come back and tell them. Then which I apologized even more. For repeating what had been reported. I apologize to my brothers @general_over_everything and @waahdean They know exactly where my heart is with X. And where my heart is with them. We have done things together. That will never change how I feel about them. They are my brothers. Again. I apologize for talking out of turn.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CORJxQTnEkt/

Even as he apologized, in true Gotti fashion, he justified his actions … actions that had 50 Cent and Swizz Beatz on his neck.

“In my defense. I honestly thought I wasn’t saying anything that everyone didn’t hear already. If anyone thinks the love I have for X is nothing but genuine unconditional love. Just look at our history. Really look at it. And there is no way you can think that. Love you X. Until I die and see you again. #ripdmx#doglove #ruffryders #family.”

Maybe he will be more cautious in what he says next time someone transitions … but let’s hope we don’t get a chance to find out any time soon. We are really not trying to lose any more icons.

16-Year-Old NUSKI2SQUAD Unveils “Laser Tag” Visual

NUSKI2SQUAD is the 16-year-old St. Louis raised rapper who has been making waves with his single “Live On” Remix and collaborations with G Herbo, Quando Rondo, Toosii, and Yungeen Ace.

This weekend, he releases a new visual for single “Laser Tag” off his current project – depicting shell casings and a shot-up car as a laser light show weaves in and out of the frame. Throughout the somber scene, Nuski2squad delivers lines like “Cherish your life because when you gone, ain’t no coming back. “

For only 16 years young, the rapper has already dealt with his fair share of hardships, including homelessness and the passing of his father. His lyrics depict his wisdom and sobering outlook on life, proving that he is poised to break out this year.

The music fits a “trap gospel” subgenre, especially his most recent album, Lil Nuski, that speaks to losing family members and life’s fragility.  Check out the new video for “Laser Tag,” where Nuski2squad raps about the consequences of violence.

Mr. Chicken: Putting On For Jersey City With “Never Could”

Mr. Chicken is next up out of Jersey City, and he’s not stopping until he reaches the top. Back where he’s from, they call money “chicken,” which is exactly how he got his name. With a hustler mentality and endless passion, the rising star has been making music his entire life, here to stamp his name in the rap game once and for all.

“We call money ‘chicken’ in Jersey City. Brooklyn knows the lingo, everybody knows the lingo. That’s how I got the name, I’m the guy with the money,” he states with a laugh.

Full of ambition and always hustling to get some bread, Mr. Chicken actually lists Mary J. Blige and Usher as his biggest influences — which makes sense given his ability to sing and create that melodic rap sound that we all know and love. Exploding onto the scene with his standout single “Never Could,” Mr. Chicken recently re-released the record with his new label Rostrum Records.

AllHipHop: What was it like growing up in Jersey City?

Mr. Chicken: Just regular. It gets treacherous, you know? You’re trying to survive. You take everything that you learn, and you run.

AllHipHop: What was the young Mr. Chicken like growing up?

Mr. Chicken: Getting money, hustling. Ambitious.

AllHipHop: Who were your biggest influences, who were you bumping growing up?

Mr. Chicken: Mary J. Blige, Usher.

AllHipHop: When did you realize you could do music for a living?

Mr. Chicken: When I was sitting in the backseat during a trip with my family, I was 8 years old. We used to freestyle in the car. We’d freestyle about anything in the car, anything my pops or my mom would make up to test us.

AllHipHop: How would you describe your sound?

Mr. Chicken: Unique, from the soul. I don’t say it unless it’s a part of me or I’ve done it before. Just really in tune.

AllHipHop: Bring us back to when you recorded “Never Could,” it’s going crazy.

Mr. Chicken: I dropped “Never Could” about 4 or 5 months ago, but I re-released it again with my label. I recorded it literally sitting in the basement. Shout out to Alcatracks from Jersey, and Elizabeth. In his basement, that’s my engineer. Really working constantly and bringing something to life. Shoutout DJ Swill B too!

AllHipHop: What was inspiring you in that moment?

Mr. Chicken: With “Never Could,” it was more or less I’m going through a phase as far as learning how to speak my emotions, talk in existence and manifestation. In that moment, it was really wanting to do what I “Never Could.” That’s how that came about.

AllHipHop: What were you dreaming of coming up as a kid?

Mr. Chicken: For this moment right here, for my life. My name, being a star. Get the fame. I knew a song would take off.

AllHipHop: Best memory from the video shoot?

Mr. Chicken: When we’re messing with the green screen. It was my first time so I was acting like a kid with it, so happy. It’s crazy what you can do with the effects and bringing things to life. We shot it in Jersey.

AllHipHop: How was it seeing the video back?

Mr. Chicken: eally your dream coming to reality, it’s all amazing. Really chasing, I like the whole thrill of it. Doing the impossible and showing people the impossible is possible. There’s nothing impossibly to me, that’s why I’m never going to stop.

AllHipHop: Who would you want on the remix to “Never Could”?

Mr. Chicken: I want Drake. Someone who can bring life to the track and take it global.

AllHipHop: Who are some artists you’re bumping right now?

Mr. Chicken: I don’t really be listening to too much. I’m listening to Polo G, shout out Polo. He just went #1, that’s fire.

AllHipHop: How does it feel like to be in LA for the first time?

Mr. Chicken: t feels good, it feels beautiful. I like it. I don’t want to leave for real.

AllHipHop: What’s it like back home in Jersey?

Mr. Chicken: It’s very regular. Sitting there working in the studio, keep myself out the way. Before the music, I was outside with the gang chillin’. Sitting in the trenches, running it up all day. Shout out my hood.

AllHipHop: How long you been making music for?

Mr. Chicken: All my life, literally. Before the freestyles in the car, just getting better. We used to go on so many road trips, so we’d always do it.

AllHipHop: What is the reality of the independent journey?

Mr. Chicken: You can’t give up. You gotta keep running, you can’t care what other people think. You gotta become your own monster. No matter how far or how hard you fall, you can get up. You can achieve anything.

AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio?

Mr. Chicken: Good energy, my weed and my water.

AllHipHop: What can we expect next music-wise?

Mr. Chicken: Something amazing, we got a lot of secrets in store. They need to pay attention to me, that’s what makes the ride fun.

AllHipHop: What’s your most meaningful tattoo?

Mr. Chicken: Most Hated, that one means the most to me. Because I do what they never could. Just being different, being hated. The weirdo thing, dressing different. I like to be a different sound, different music. That is what makes me different. I’m rich in my heart already so I can’t wait to take it to the next level.

AllHipHop: You part of the Rich Forever gang?

Mr. Chicken: That’s definitely family. Shout out to Rich The Kid, Gramz (manager) what up!

AllHipHop: Any goals for yourself?

Mr. Chicken: To go harder than I ever did. To be #1 on Billboard, go global. It’s going to take hard work, what we doing now. Working, connecting. We got a lot in store, stay in tune. Mr. Chicken, I’ll be #1 real soon. Platinum records and all.

AllHipHop: What are you most excited for as the world opens back up?

Mr. Chicken: That it’s opening back up, we get to take it over. This my real run right now, that’s what makes it so fun.

Digital Underground Founder Shock G. Laid To Rest, DJ Premier, Big Daddy Kane And Other Notables Pay Respect

Digital Underground founder Shock G. was lead to rest today (May 1st), in his hometown of Tampa, Florida.

Funeral services for the late rapper/musician were held at the Allen Temple A.M.E. Church.

A variety of hymns, along with secular music were sung throughout the service by the Tampa Mass Choir, who belted out a tear-jerking rendition of Stevie Wonder’s timeless song “As (I’ll Be Loving You Always).”

Notables like Public Enemy’s Chuck D., Yo Yo, The Luniz, DJ Premier, Big Daddy Kane, Sway, Rob Base, MC Serch, Busta Rhymes, Jermaine Dupri, Cee Lo Green, and of course, Digital Underground founders Chopmaster J and Money B were in attendance or streamed into the funeral service to pay their final respect to Shock G.

“What I’m going to miss the most about Shock.G. was talking to him. He was the type of person, he gave me his full attention when he talked to you. He always looked at you directly in the eyes and would get really close to you. He was very animated, he was very passionate. He’d put his arms around me and we’d have deep conversations. He made me feel seen and loved.” – YoYo.

Big Daddy Kane recalled touring with Digital Underground during his Chocolate City Tour, and the fun he had being on the road with the group who created hits like “The Humpty Dance,” “Dowhatchalike,” “Kiss You Back” and the classic, “Same Song,” which introduced the world to Tupac Shakur.

“[They would] come around with their water guns, shooting us with super soakers and whatnot…and then on any given night you’d come downstairs around 1:00, 2:00 a.m. seeing Shock G. just sitting there at the piano in the lobby, getting it on just playing and whatnot. Man, it was beautiful times and I’m glad that I was able to have time to spend with you brother, rest well.”- Big Daddy Kane

DJ Premier offered up some words and revealed Shock G. had been consistently been sending him music as recently January 29th of 2021.

“I need to say how great you are and how great you’ve made things for just our souls to be touched, from Digital Underground to just playing the two characters of Humpty Hump and just being Shock G. You’ve always been deep. I feel like I’m a deep person so I could totally relate…we’re gonna miss you but we’re gonna hold it down for you. We’ll see when we get there all right Shock G?” – DJ Premier

The funeral for Shock G. comes a week after he was found dead in a Tampa, Florida hotel room. Employees found Shock unresponsive after he failed to check out.

According to the police, Shock was battling with substance abuse in the months before his passing.

In February, two Tampa cops encountered him after a complaint regarding a domestic disturbance at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk hotel. The police found the 57-year-old outside of a popular watering hole a few streets away and arrested him. Afterwards, they put him in protective custody.

The “Humpty Hump” rapper, whose real name is Greg Jacobs, strange behavior was connected to him drinking and ingesting his substance of choice: methamphetamine.

One police officer said, “I believed that without treatment, Gregory would get himself hurt. He was unable to determine for himself if medical treatment was necessary.”

They decided to detain Shock G. under the Marchman Act that allows police to take a person to a hospital to be evaluated for their own safety for substance abuse.

A few weeks later, according to a Hillsborough County Medical Examiner, Shock G. was found dead at the Vista Inn and Suites on E Bearss Avenue in Tampa.

His cause of death will not be released until a formal autopsy report and toxicology results are in.

Shock G’s life is not unlike so many gifted artists that are so filled with genius that their only escape or sanctuary is to indulge in narcotics.  Regardless of how he passed, Shock G. will always be a titan in Hip-Hop culture.

“People talk about him as a great musician, a great artist or whatever, but he was 10 times the human. He wanted everyone around him to be comfortable and happy, in spite of what made him happy,” Money B. said.

The Top 5 DMV Artists to Watch in 2021

DMV music releases have become a synonym for quality artists, and being able to produce some of the best records out there that go viral. Let’s talk about the 5 best artists to keep an eye on at the moment.

1.Amala:

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOtVDrMbPxk[/embedyt][embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOtVDrMbPxk[/embedyt]

The PG County native had over 500k streams on Spotify, having a very busy year building her name up in 2020. Most recently, she released the official music video for her latest sin-gle titled “Tik Tok,” serving looks in each scene the track has approximately 100k views on her Vevo channel and on YouTube too, the energetic single has an aesthetically pleasing video to go with it. Like what her moniker “The Savage Sweetheart” suggests, the young artist shakes the table by combining confident lyricism with crafty wordplay.

Amala exu-des confidence in “Tik Tok” akin to traits shared by fellow star women artists Mulatto and Megann the stallion that separates her from the field of upcoming female powerhouses in music as a superstar. She stayed aware of the importance of media knowing the difference a good interview can do while talking with Big Mouf Media, The Hype Underground, and others and she then also opened for major artists like Rubi Rose and Foogiano.

“On Demand” and “Mojo” are two other songs Amala promoted in 2020, but in 2021 Amala’s flow should be heard by even more people.“ON DEMAND,” is a great example of her savage, confident and high-energy side coming to life and often, with intricate lyricism and a spitfire flow, Amala blends the sounds of the early 2000s and mixes it with modern-day production. Influenced greatly by both Nicki Minaj and Missy Elliot, the DMV recording artist prides her-self in her artistry, creating feel-good, turn-up bangers for her growing fanbase.

When it comes to her sound, her persona, and her overall brand, Amala is unafraid to be unapo-logetically herself in all aspects of her life. The rising rapper is described as “sometimes savage, sometimes sweetheart,” the former of which comes to life in her music.

Test:

Born and raised in South Baltimore Test is a rapper delivering melodic notes and heavy bars. Through consistent work ethic Test is building a catalogue of mixtapes that have something for every listener, Stop Playin’ Wit Me (2018), F## Ya Feelings (2019), and The Other Side (2019)

Seven emerging artists worked together on the 1800 Tequila sponsored project 1800 Seconds Vol. 2, joining forces to produce a collaborative album and Test, who appears on four of 12 tracks, sounds like a rapper who is really about to take off. His style of rap is contemporary, that kind of easy-listening tracks that are playlist-ready. Rather than brag-gadocious boasting, Test chooses Auto-Tune melodies and heartfelt musing to emphasize a sincere relationship. A perfect example is “Don’t Stop,” Test’s solo song on the project.

“Once we finished, the staff and people in the studio were walking around mumbling the words,” he recalls. In fact his goal is different from the one of many other artists : “I make soul music, music so relatable it feels like I know you, like I’m talking to you.

Every time I sit down in front of the mic that’s the goal, keeping the music relatable, authentic, giving the real life sh*t, not just the up’s you gone get the downs too.” he said. With all of the previously mentioned being the ground we start from, we can’t have anything but high expectations for his new project about to drop in the first days of may titled “STOP PLAYIN WITH ME 2”.

Roddy Rackzz:

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSP2fdQlWR4[/embedyt]

Roddy Rackzz of Drag Season Musik Group and Shagg Gang was first introduced in 2017 as a part of Squirrel Wyde’s Hooligan Express series highlighting independent artists in the DMV.

He is a rising star from Baltimore signed with Def Jam who has been steadily establishing himself as one of the city’s most promising artists in terms of street music. With a gift for nonchalant melodies, he has a knack for making catchy hooks that you’ll memorize without even realizing it. That was especially apparent on his 2020-released mixtape “F— Rap,” where on just about every track he crooned about the pleasures of finally experiencing success after years of the exact opposite. Some of his best songs have come with another up-and-comer in the scene, OTR Chaz, who hails from Rackzz’s same West Baltimore neighborhood.

At the top of 2021, the pair released a joint EP titled “6 Pack” as a gift for fans who love to hear them together and to hold people over until new solo projects drop. “Die to Live” is one of the best of the six tracks because of the two’s synergy, but also because its title could equally serve as the name of a painfully vulnerable sonnet or a ridiculously dramatic action movie. In sound, the song is somewhere in the middle of those two. Brooding pia-no play and thumping barrages of bass will make you feel invincible, but it’s Rackzz’s and Chaz’s yearning about putting themselves in harm’s way just to live a fulfilling life that’ll make you stop and think.

@roddyrackzz

Goo Glizzy:

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-bPBYI_Pjk[/embedyt]

Earlier this year, Goo Glizzy kickstarted his 2021 campaign with an infectious cut titled “Truth,” setting the stage for some top-quality cuts to follow. Today, the Washington, D.C. talent follows that with a new single titled “My Life,” which features YoungBoy Never Broke Again. Produced by Jay Juwle, “My Life” sees the two speaking on real-life issues going on in their respective cities:

“You ain’t gotta like me just to feel what I say, n##### dyin’ young, boy, I’m tryna live til’ I’m gray, livin’ in my city, that’s the type of chances you take, I’m surrounded by killers, and robbers, and snakes/ And I can only pray for the sunshine, cause I hate to spend my life, my life, my life, my life, duckin’ one time…/”

The clip is presented by Bigg Mobb Entertainment and Metroknome Music, with the di-rection from RDX Films and Aesthetic Visuals, Goo and YoungBoy are with their crews in NYC, performing their verses in different locations definitively adding to the organic feel of the collaboration, showing the type of musical chemistry that could lead to more drops in the future.

It really seems like Goo have teamed up with the perfect artist for this type of track since Youngboy Never Broke Again is already known for his ability to alternate brag-gadocious singles with extremely reflective and sincere ones; he also is one of the most prolific artists of the last years, with a work ethic that kept his fans fed during the worst times of the worldwide quarantine.

In 2021 he has already blessed the masses with singles like “Toxic Punk” and “I Ain’t Sca-red.” Prior to “My Life,” Goo Glizzy dropped Mobbtober 2, which boasted additional assi-stance from Drego, Q Da Fool, and fellow crew members Shy Glizzy and 3 Glizzy. He also dropped “Pandemic Flow” and “Run Away.”

Hopefully, we’ll be hearing about a new body of work from Goo sooner than later.

Big Meech Planning Appeal To White House For Prison Release

Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and his legal team are reaching out (again) to the White House in the hopes to receive a compassionate release from prison.

The promoter, who made a career working with tons of big named rappers over the years like Jeezy and Fabolous, is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence.

Big Meech and his brother Terry “Southwest T” were convicted of money laundering and continuing criminal enterprise in 2008 for running a massive, coast to coast drug dealing operation.

Big Meech is slated to be released in 2031.

His case is a definite eye-opener that should make people note the disparities within the criminal justice system.

For one, this first-time, nonviolent offender is being held each day in 23.5 hours solitary confinement. The prison believes that this is the only way to protect him from the deathly COVID-19 disease ravishing so many prisons.

They have listed his questionable health as a reason why he should stay on lockdown, since Meech suffers from uncontrolled hypertension.

Especially, since the prison has recently suspended his phone and email privileges without explanation.

Noting his illness, the current pandemic and that he has already served 72% of his sentence, the denial of his freedom almost seems vindictive.

Three months ago in February, Big Meech was denied his third request for compassionate release by the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit.

AllHipHop EXCLUSIVE: Appeals Court Keeps Big Meech In Prison

Big Meech’s team believes that the prosecutor lied and gave misleading statements that persuaded the ruling, by stating that the Black Family Mafia leader was wanted in murder charges in Atlanta.

Meech maintains that this is a lie and has appealed this judgment.

Big Meech’s brother Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, his co-conspirator, has already been released.

Rap star 50 Cent is chronicling the saga of BMF in an upcoming crime drama for Starz, which recently wrapped shooting season 1 in Atlanta.

Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr stars as his dad Big Meech, while Snoop Dogg, Kash Doll, Jasun Jabbar Wardlaw Jr., La La Anthony and Serayah others.

Couple Accused Of Killing Lil Yase Walk Free In Stunning Turn Of Events

The couple initially booked for murdering rising rapper Lil Yase, are off the hook.

In a startling turn of events during their arraignment yesterday (April 29th), the Alameda County District Attorney declined to charge Angel Butler and Jovante Williams with first-degree murder over Lil Yase’s shooting death.

The “Top Dog” rapper was gunned down near a BART train station in the town of Dublin, following a recording session in San Francisco on November 28th.

Police initially arrested Butler and Williams, who share a child.

Some of the child’s DNA was found on shell casings recovered from the murder scene, but apparently, this was not enough evidence to connect them to the murder.

Additionally, prosecutors said Lil Yase, who was involved in a relationship with Butler, gave up critical information on his deathbed, which helped lead to the couple’s detention.

However, Butler and Williams walked free from the Santa Rita Jail, even though prosecutors argued they had the right suspects.

Lil Yase, who ran the Highway 420 label with his business partner Justin Miranda, was well-liked in the local rap scene and had no known enemies.

“We don’t have any idea what he was doing out there. Everybody is confused, no one knows what the hell is going on, or what happened,” Justin Miranda told the Mercury News. “He was universally loved and respected by everyone, didn’t matter what city or neighborhood, everybody loved him, from LA up to here.”

Rapper Sasha Skare Officially Charged With Murdering Beyonce’s Cousin

An aspiring rapper named Sasha Skare, the woman that shot and killed Beyoncé’s cousin on January 22, has been charged with his murder.

According to a Bexar County District Attorney’s Office affidavit, Sasha Skare was in a romantic relationship with the victim Martell Derouen, whose rap name was Kardone and is related to Queen Bey.

The same document further notes that the two were in an argument which eventually led to her taking a gun and shooting through his door, striking him, and ultimately killing him.

Should she be convicted, Sasha Skare could be sentenced to life in prison.

This is not her first time in trouble with the law.

Back in 2019, she and her old boyfriend, Andrew Bass, attempted to rob a local drug dealer.

Instead of a robbery, the two parties got a shooting match which resulted in Bass dying and the other man being injured.

Sasha Skare’s character is in question as she blamed the botched job on Bass.

Feigning innocence, she told law enforcement that Bass had set up the deal and she was going along with it. Come to find out, after further investigation, not only did she know the mark, but she was the one who contacted him about meeting up.

Sasha Skare is currently facing an aggravated robbery charge in connection to the shooting that took the life of her man.

Kardone’s death has rocked the family, even as there have been no public statements about the tragedy.

A Louisiana native is related to Beyoncé through Tina Lawson’s side of the family. Tina’s grandmother was named Agnèz Deréon and is the common ancestor.

LBS Kee’vin: Putting On For Pensacola, Florida & Taking Over The Rap Game

LBS Kee’vin is here to become one of the greats, and he’s well on his way.

Hailing from Pensacola, Florida, the rising rapper comes equipped with his own distinct voice and sound, having girls rave his signature tag: “SHE FEIGNIN FOR LBS KEE’VIN!”

In describing himself, he states, “I’m an outgoing person around the people I know. I’m probably quiet around people I don’t know, but I’m a pretty fun person.”

With an all-star personality comes his undeniable trap bangers, spitting his truth and telling his story while inspiring the masses that they too can make their wildest dreams come true.

Growing up raised by a single mother in the hood, Kee’vin fondly remembers listening to his Top 3: Boosie, Lil Wayne, and Jeezy — artists he still listens to today. He adds, “I’ll never stop bumping them.”

Racking up over a million streams, the 25-year-old recently signed a deal with Visionary Records/Columbia Records.

Following his previous release with “Shining” featuring 42 Dugg, Kee’vin returned with a slew of bangers including “Hood Dreams” ft. FCB Heem, Fredo Bang-assisted “Soul Burden,” “Run Wit It,” and his latest effort “That’s Life” with OMB Peezy.

AllHipHop: What was it like growing up with a single mother in Pensacola?

LBS Kee’vin: It was pretty much the same thing with any hood, a child growing up in the hood. It’s certain struggles but same ole same ole. Nothing too bad.

AllHipHop: What was a young Kee’vin like then?

LBS Kee’vin: Stayed outside 24/7. We used to play football in the street barefoot, sun up to sun down.

AllHipHop: When did music come into play and what artists made you want to get into it?

LBS Kee’vin: It wasn’t anyone in particular, I just enjoyed the lifestyle. The fast life: the cars, the diamonds, all that type of stuff. I was going to get there one way or another whether it was in the streets or rapping, so I thought “let me try it.” I had a 3 bedroom house at the time so I took one of the rooms and built a studio in there. I started from there.

AllHipHop: At what point did you realize that you could do rap for a living?

LBS Kee’vin: Probably the first few songs I recorded, I thought “damn, I might have something.” When I first started rapping, I had a sense of what people really want to hear. I found a way to put my story into it and create my own lane. I’ve been rapping for 2 years now, I feel like I’m just now perfecting it.

AllHipHop: What makes you feel like you’re perfecting it now?

LBS Kee’vin: You find your sound. Certain songs, they’ll be clean all the way through. It’s just fluent. Once you start doing fluent songs all the way through, 2 verses with the hook — you do that a few times in a row, you’ll know. Okay, I’ve found it.

AllHipHop: Talk about Loyal Bag Suppliers and when you picked that up.

LBS Kee’vin: My friends and I were trying to think of a name. Something that has a street meaning too, but it’s like a double entendre. It doesn’t have to have a street term. If you’re supplying a bag or you’re bringing a bag home, then you can be a Bag Supplier.

AllHipHop: What did “Boston George” do for your career?

LBS Kee’vin: I went on YouTube, I found a beat and I locked in on it. It used to take me a long time to record. It took me about 3 days to record “Boston George” but after I finally finished it, I knew. I thought to myself “Damn, I know this s### gonna catch on”. After I dropped it, my momma put me in a contest on Worldstar. I didn’t even know about it. About two weeks later, I found out that I won. They put me on the front page, I had over a million views on the first day. All types of s###. Crazy.

AllHipHop: What was your mom’s reaction?

LBS Kee’vin: She said she knew it was gonna happen, that’s why she put it there. She’s my #1 fan for sure. She’s done so much. She woke me up out of my sleep yelling, telling me I won the contest. I still didn’t know what exactly was going on. 2 days later, my video was on the front page and that’s when labels started calling.

AllHipHop: How did you find your way to Columbia?

LBS Kee’vin: I got a distribution deal with Columbia. I’m actually signed with Sony/Visionary Records. Out of all my meetings I had with record labels, it felt like they had the family vibe pretty much. It wasn’t like they were looking at me like a dollar sign.

AllHipHop: “Run Wit It” is out now. Bring us back to that recording session, you snapped.

LBS Kee’vin: That s###’s going crazy on YouTube right now. Sometimes, I don’t even check it. Every other 2 days, I remember like “oh I do have a video out right now”. When I check it, it goes up every single time. It hits me like damn, I’m an artist that’ll pull the beat out and whatever the beat pulls out of me, that’s what gonna happen. It’s literally a natural talent for me, I don’t really gotta try too hard.

AllHipHop: What do you want fans to get from that record?

LBS Kee’vin: That I’m versatile. They’re used to me harmonizing and singing. On that record, I’m straight going in. They can expect different types of beats this time around. I want the people to know that I can get on any type of beat and handle myself, that’s what I want people to get from it.

AllHipHop: Mix the Gucci with Dior, talk about your drip and your love for fashion.

LBS Kee’vin: I’m really in love with fashion. When I first started rapping, I was into the designers really heavy. Now I’m tryna slow down, start putting some Nikes on sometimes. That s### does get expensive too though. I’ll buy me a Nike jumpsuit every now and again, white 1’s.

AllHipHop: How did you and Fredo Bang collab on “Soul Burden”?

LBS Kee’vin: I was so excited, he’s a really easy dude to work with. His music is hard, I been f###### with hi for a while now. The label reached out to him. They asked me if I wanted him on the song, I said “yeah, he’d be a perfect fit.” He was f###### with it so he got on it and it went crazy.

AllHipHop: Was that in the studio?

LBS Kee’vin: No it wasn’t in the studio. I had that song for 2 months before I got it to him. We sent it over and he sent his verse back. I was excited as hell, he went off.

AllHipHop: How was the video shoot?

LBS Kee’vin: Shout out No More Heroes, they picked the song up. They mentioned that they felt like it was a really good song and wanted to shoot it for me. They actually pick people they want to shoot, not just anyone can go and get a video from them.

AllHipHop: What are your “Hood Dreams”?

LBS Kee’vin: To make it out the hood. I pretty much made it out, I don’t live in my hood no more. I moved to Atlanta but I travel back and forth from time to time. That’s the message I spread through my music: tryna make it out. Tryna get out of poverty, tryna get rich. Get a mansion, fast cars, that type of s###.

AllHipHop: How does it feel to be living out your dreams now?

LBS Kee’vin: It feels good, I still got a lot of work to do though. I’m not satisfied by a long shot, but I’ve came a long way too so I can’t complain. I have a lot more work to do. I wouldn’t say I’m living out my dreams yet, not just yet.

AllHipHop: Talk about going viral remixing Coi Leray’s “No More Parties”.

LBS Kee’vin: Like I said, whatever the beat brings outta me. That beat is fire. It’s a vibe, I uploaded it and went crazy. It only took me an hour to make the whole song and it went crazy. Shout out Coi Leray too.

AllHipHop: What’s one thing you want fans to get from Belair Baby 2?

LBS Kee’vin: I want to show my improvement between my first tape and the second tape. If I dropped a tape right now, it would show my potential for even more growth. I don’t feel like the first two tapes are my full potential. They were hard either way, but I got a lot of crazy s### coming up.

AllHipHop: What you got coming up?

LBS Kee’vin: I got a lot of great songs to drop. Whether it’s features or me putting two verses on a song, I’ve got a lot of songs that go crazy. We’re dropping all year consistently. It’s gonna take off real soon to where I want it to be.

AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio?

LBS Kee’vin: Ya know, I’ve never been a big studio type of guy. I don’t like going to big studios. I have a studio in my house, so I walk downstairs and record. There aren’t any necessities that I need honesty. I go down there and go record all night.

AllHipHop: Do you freestyle?

LBS Kee’vin: Yeah I don’t write anything. Everything is off the top of my head.

AllHipHop: How was it recording with 42 Dugg?

LBS Kee’vin: That s### was an amazing experience. The song went crazy too, got a couple million on Apple Music right now. Shout out 42 Dugg, that s###’s hard.

AllHipHop: How does it feel to collaborate with all these hot artists this early in your career?

LBS Kee’vin: It feels good. It lets me know that I’m headed in the right direction. Like I said before, there’s a lot more work I need to do.

AllHipHop: You say 2 words saved your life: “reup” and “profit.” Can you elaborate?

LBS Kee’vin: I was struggling trying to find a way, until I got into what I got into. Not promoting it but it is what it was. Some people have their own way of thinking, but that was my way of making it or getting by. That’s why I say it saved my life. If I didn’t start that, I’d still be out here bumming it and trying to find a way.

AllHipHop: What’re you most excited for when the world opens back up?

LBS Kee’vin: This year, I’m excited to honestly just get outside more. I don’t go out enough. I need to be out, I need to travel and see more things. Go to different cities, that’s what I’m excited about.

AllHipHop: Anything else you want to let us know?

LBS Kee’vin: Look forward to new music this year, that’s it. I’m going crazy the whole year!

Travis Scott Unveils Details For Expanded Astroworld Festival

With national COVID-19 numbers going down, the 2021 festival season seems to be in full swing.

This good news is right on time for fans who have been anticipating the return of music mogul Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival.

The chart-topper has just announced that the third installation of his legendary Astroworld festival will be held this fall at NRG Park in Houston, TX, the first weekend of November: Friday, 11/5, and Saturday, 11/ 6.

This year’s theme pushes intellectual limits by asking music enthusiasts to “Open Your Eyes To A Whole New Universe.”

The “Oh My/Dis Side” rapper is known for his expansive imagination.

From his mind’s eye, he has personally curated the event — promising a one-of-a-kind experience for all attendees.

With this promise, he and his producers are encouraging fans to step up and order their tickets as soon as they go on sale before they release the performance line-up.

One person we know will be on deck is Scott. He has confirmed to not only rock out with music that the world knows and loves, but will include selections from his new Utopia project set to drop this year.

General admission and several premium VIP packages will go on sale Wednesday, May 5 at 10:00 AM CST and can only be purchased on AstroworldFest.com.

In the past, musical guests have included acts like Post Malone, Rosalia, Pharrell Williams, Da Baby, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Playboi Carti, Megan Thee Stallion, and more.

This year will be just as great.

While people think that this is just another way for Travis Scott’s family to cake out (yes, he and his billionaire baby mama Kyle looked so cute at his 29th birthday party with their daughter Stormi), portions of the proceeds will be donated to the festival’s official charity partner, Cactus Jack Foundation.

Artist Nakkia Gold Releases High Energy, Bold & Intimate Set Of Tracks In Her Song Bundle “3 Rounds!”

Los Angeles native singer and songwriter Nakkia Gold releases her much-anticipated song bundle “3 Rounds!”

The song bundle includes an unreleased single called “3 Rounds” alongside two previously released singles, “Yea Yea” & “Real.”

Inspired by her core belief that “music is supposed to tell a story,” Nakkia Gold empowers her audience with her soulful and arresting voice that weaves a tapestry of emotion, sound, and rich, melodic texture rooted in R&B with a contemporary feel.

“This record was inspired by Kehlani’s sensual and sultry sound. This record is intimate, sexual, bold, and intense, just as my sexuality is. I play with the perception vs. reality of dating me. I feel like it’s always the quiet ones like myself who are overlooked and underestimated when we should be the ones you watch out for,” Nakkia Gold explained.

Nakkia Gold will follow the release of her song bundle with a May 7 release of “Justice (Get up, Stand up)” ft. Wiz Khalifa, Bob Marley and The Wailers, a powerful song about justice that samples “Get Up, Stand Up” by Bob Marley and The Wailers.

Tia Bank$- “Boss Or Worker” Video

In the past decade, Toronto has become one of the preeminent cities in Hip Hop by spawning the careers of chart-topping superstars and introducing the world to a distinct sound. For all of the fanfare surrounding the city’s contributions to Hip Hop, not much can be said when it comes to female rappers from The 6ix.

Upstart MC Tia Bank$ looks to change that. Immigrating to Canada by way of Kingston, Jamaica at the age of 4, Bank$’ musical talents developed early as she began writing music as a child and later evolved into a full-fledged MC while in high school.

Since releasing her very first single “Kill The Game,” which garnered significant buzz in her neighborhood, Tia Bank$ has been carving out her own niche ever since. Now with 2021 in full swing, she looks to set the tone moving forward with the release of her latest single “Boss Or Worker.”

Ms Bank$ uses her braggadocios lyrics to pose the title’s question over the thudding production and familiar sample. The single and accompanying visual puts audiences on notice that Tia Bank$ is one to watch from the north!

“Black Mirror” Robo-Dogs Were Inspired By NYPD’s Cancelled Digi Dog!

The NYPD tried it in they failed. The cops in New York was trying to employ a new technology that appears to be a robotic surveillance dog, but it really looks like a dystopian Netflix movie. In fact, Black Mirror used a dog very similar to this one. The dogs, which are all robotic, cost roughly $75,000 per unit. The NYPD hoped to use the dogs to save lives, such as in a fire or some other sort of an emergency – like Black& Brown people in the hood! They were seen in some NYC hood involved in an arrest of a man. People didn’t think it was real. BUT it was.

Critics pushed back quickly, stating that the robots were only used in the hood.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said that the proof of force was proven and also showed militarized robots to be using on humans. We ain’t seeing no digital dogs in the burbs on Chad-n-Karen. They selling Meth to Sparky! Furthermore, which wasn’t shown in videos, the dogs can also jump over things and collect surveillant‘s dad on human beings. The NYPD has now ended the contract with the manufacturer, With the “digi dog.”

It’s over for you digi dog! This crazy mess was really out of a sci-fi show, but the contract with Boston Dynamics is over. They wasted upwards of a couple thousand dollars to end the contract early. It was supposed to run at least until August, but it definitely is worth the loss. Oh yeah, one thing you should know is that This robot dog actually came before the show on “Black Mirror.” That’s right, “Black Mirror” was inspired by Boston Dynamics – not the other way around! So their 2017 episode, which has those same type of digital dogs terrorizing humans, comes from the reality!

So reality is truly stranger than fiction!

Check a piece of the ep!

[WATCH LIVE] Family and Friends Gather to Give Final Farewell to Bad Boy Artist Black Rob

Bad Boy artist Black Rob is laid to rest on Friday, April 30 at the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Harlem, NY.

Black Rob, whose real name is Robert Ross, succumbed to illness on April 17, 2021, at the age of 52.

His death was sudden and unexpected by most of the Hip-Hop world and came only days after the demise of his colleague, DMX. The rapper, known best for his mega-club banger “Whoa,” had suffered health challenges over the last few years and was last seen in a hospital bed giving his warm wishes to DMX and informing people about his illness — saying he had suffered a series of strokes.

Former Bad Boy executive Mark Curry shared the details for the Homegoing Celebration for his friend on his Instagram, noting that it would be live-streamed on REVOLT TV and YouTube,

“Join us as we gather to share our favorite stories and memories, to laugh and to cry in memory of our beloved Robert ‘Black Rob’ Ross,” Curry wrote. “We will always love you!! YouTube.com/RevoltTV.”

After the public viewing, the family (and friends) ran a loop of personal pictures and videos from his extraordinary journey as a rap star. While the stream was interrupted in the beginning, we were able to see Grandmaster Caz (one of the fathers of Hip-Hop) presiding over the ceremony.

There was a high moment in the service where the chaplain shouted out his childhood friends, Jeff Mobb, stating that they “were there from the beginning and were there in the end.” While the moment was high, Caz also announced that Governor Cuomo signed a proclamation in honor of Black Rob.

G-Dep’s sons were among the first to speak and they read a poem/rap from their dad.

Bishop Whitehead noted that it was his birthday, and said that “Rob was loyal.” The Bishop went to the Book of Acts to shared that Black Rob was essential to him turning to God and accepting his call into ministry.

A mournful Harve Pierre, the former President of Bad Boy Entertainment, spoke on behalf of Sean Comb said that “Black Rob was one of his greatest artists. Rob was a friend and a reliable artist.” He further expressed that they were also friends, a powerful man and that they worked on so many projects together, recalling that “Whoa” was the number one song in the country. He thanked the church, the police, producers and also cleared the air by thanking Puff for always being there when anyone needed help.

His manager Johnny reminisced about touring and how Mark and Chris Curry incorporated the slogan “Whoa” into everything, like “Whoa, watch your mouth.”

“To live in the hearts of others makes you eternal,” said Mark Curry as he told everyone to put their fist in the air.

His godsister also spoke about how he came back to the community, Jefferson Projects, and believed that all n**ga barbers come from around their way.

Porta Roc also spoke about touring with him— sharing that they talked about stuff that no one ever talked about. He said that he loved him and said that he was kind. “This is a real legend, stand up. I was there before the ‘Whoa’ and before the Bacardi Rob. and I had to show up to thank you all for showing my man love.”

One person from the community named Pete said that they were thanking all of the wrong people “who weren’t even there.” The gentleman said, “Thank his mother for raising a bad @ss kid.”  He kept saying “Y’all weren’t there” and said that instead of calling him, people were checking their Instagram. “Where were you back then?” He also talked about how Puff Daddy was always was there and helped Rob. He asked everyone to stand up, including Bad Boy who were true friends and support systems to Rob.

Rob’s first manager also spoke and said he was there at the end also.

Then his children spoke.

His son Rob read his obituary and said a rap that he wrote for his father.

One of his daughters said that she had just lost her son last year.

His sister tearfully read a poem and gave reflections, reminding everyone that “everyone had their moments with Rob.” This was in reference to people saying that they were there for him in ways when he was down.

The vocalist sang “It’s So Hard to Say Good-Bye to Yesterday,” as he walked through the congregation. Then the pastor gave his eulogy, memorializing a life cut short too soon.

We send our deepest sympathies to the family.

Columbus, Ohio Rapper Cap City Kid Follows Up DJ Mustard Produced Track With New EP Titled, In Due Time

Recently Columbus native and Ohio word spitter, Cap City Kid delivered his new project In Due Time.  Fans of the 26 year-old talent have been waiting patiently for this new release that shows this highly capable wordsmith in his best light, displaying maturity and growth in his music with each release.

Consolidated into five new songs for fans, In Due Time is a coming of age project that gives fans something to latch on to as Cap City Kid prepares to hit fans relentlessly with more music.

“It’s been a little bit since I released music, all 2019 I had done this thing where I was putting out a song a week. Just kind of because I could and because I was just trying to build my catalog.  Since then I’ve been working on a lot of music especially all of last year going to the top of this year. Really I got multiple albums worth of stuff, but I really just wanted to get a project out there,” Cap City Kid explained.

“This is just like a little appetizer almost because the rest of the year we have multiple projects planned, multiple releases, singles more like EPs and full length albums. I just wanted to get something out there, you know, that was a small, but like good compilation music. A couple of different sounds on there for people to digest and just kind of a set up for the rest of the year. I didn’t want to start too crazy with a full length album or anything. But I just wanted to come with some good music that I could preface the rest of the year with and reach out to the fans.”

Pieced together with producers from across the internet, Cap City Kid has been locked in with lesser known up-and-coming producers after having worked with big artists like DJ Mustard on more recent projects.

“Sometimes if a random producer sends me beats whether they got my email through social media or whatever, I’m always going through those and just listening because you never know what you’re going to find. I find music from the dopest and most obscure random places. So it was crazy. A lot of the producers that I worked with on this project are still on their own come-up just like I am, which honestly makes it even doper,” Cap City Kid said.

“Cause once this project prospers and we get it to the place we want to get it. It’s a win for both of us and advances us both further in our careers. So lately I’ve been working with smaller ones, man. I’ve gotten to work with big producers in the past. I’ve been fortunate to work with DJ mustard on my last project which was crazy. And obviously he’s a whole other level of super producer at this point in the rap game, but this was just something different and still very special without the big names.

Remaining true to the city that gave him his name, Cap City Kid is forever thankful to be able to draw fans from the adjacent Ohio State University and the community that surrounds him in Columbus.

“I always say it’s a blessing and a curse being in Columbus. I say it’s a blessing because there hasn’t been a major artist really yet to come out of Columbus, so there’s got to be someone that’s finally going to break through at some point. And why can’t it be me? And it’s also a curse because no one has broken out of Columbus. So there’s no like alpha that came out of the city, that people can follow that same path or you know, be a mentor throughout this journey,” Cap City Kid said.

“At the same time, it’s also a dope city because there’s a lot of young people – we got to OSU right down the street, you know, it’s one of the biggest campuses in the country and the world.  It’s absolutely nuts, so the resources are like everywhere, man, you got 80,000 students here and pretty much my target audience already as it is right now.  There’s a lot of dope venues in Columbus, there’s a lot to take advantage of and there’s also a lot of dope artists in Columbus that just like me, I feel like haven’t gotten the proper recognition. So I’m hoping this project sheds some light on the city.”
