All I Got: How Rod Wave’s Honesty Stirred Something In Me

by Cornell Dews

Over the years, The Breakfast Club morning show on Revolt TV has done a tremendous job interviewing a wide range of guests.  You’re guaranteed to learn something and be entertained at the same time. We all have our favorites.  The Birdman interview.  Well, that wasn’t really an entire interview, but you get my drift.  The Dame Dash interview.  And countless others.  Too many to name.  “Draaaakkkkke” is one of my most entertaining ones to watch.  When that young man said “Draaaakkkkke” I thought I would die laughing.  Soulja Boy was on one that day.  Recently I was blessed to catch an emerging star in Hip Hop give, what I feel was a very candid interview that allowed the viewing audience to peer into his soul.  The interviewee in reference is Rod Wave.  His interview was so real that it challenged me to think “how do you live your dreams when the life you lived didn’t prepare you to?”

“Heart been broke so many times, I don’t know what to believe.”

I may be late to the party, but when I first heard Rod Wave so melodically rap those bars, immediately I knew that I wanted to hear more from him.  Then I saw him do an interview on Dirty Glove Bastards where he explained his lyric “Jeezy told us trap or die but told his son to go to college.”  The verse itself let me know that this young man had something more substantial to rap about.  He had a different perspective.  He viewed things differently.  So I began to listen.  And on Friday March 26, 2021 I ended up watching his very telling interview with DJ Envy, Charlamagne and Angela Yee.

The interview in its entirety is a little over 34 minutes long.  But that short amount of time was so compelling to me.  Rod Wave is a 21-22 year old man that’s extremely successful and very transparent with his feelings through his music.  He talks about a lot of pain in everyday life.  During the Breakfast Club interview, Rod Wave stated that “I don’t want people to think I’m complaining or nothing about what came with this life.  Cause I’m still thankful for it.  But it’s just that I never been the center of attention.”  Immediately I began to think about the number of people who dreamed of success in their lives, but weren’t properly prepared to handle the success when it came.  How does it feel to go from “rags to riches” and be immediately levied with the burdens and responsibilities of success?  Even as a child you’re immediately propelled to the helm of your family, community, to lead because your dreams have come to fruition, granting you monetary gain.  That’s difficult for anyone, I’d assume.  But imagine just how much more difficult it must be for someone from the bottom as a teenager or someone in his/her early twenties.  Just speaking for myself, I would have been killed or burned out by now if I was a millionaire in my teens or early twenties.

When questioned, Rod Wave stressed that he didn’t want people to think that he was suicidal or anything.  He was just trying to express the weight of fame that he’s enduring.  He went on to say in the interview that he has “never been the nigg@ with all the pressure on him.”  He continued to say that he can’t even sleep at night.  He wakes up to grab his phone to “make sure the day is gonna be good.”  Nobody has died.  No one needs to be bonded out of jail.  Rod Wave continued to speak, saying “it’s hard to sleep knowing the pressure is on you.”  “So, I’m saying like maybe when I go, I’ll finally get some rest.”  That’s real spill to hear from a young man who is seemingly living his dreams.  Made me wonder, just how many of our other young celebrities in Hip Hop are living the same dreams and nightmares as Rod Wave?  Is the price of fame attained from living your dreams really worth it?  But who could honestly acquire a taste for poverty?

Around the 25 minute 13 second mark of the interview Rod Wave says, “sometimes I feel like I bit off more than I can chew with the music and the fame and all that.  But it’s all I ever dreamed of.”  Damn.  When I heard him say that, it pulled at my soul.  I personally know many young people like Rod Wave with the same dream as him.  I’ve taught them.  I’ve raised them.  I think about ABM Tank becoming a rap star.  Or JiggyRunTheCity, Big3K, Luioto dreams of rap stardom coming to fruition.  I ask myself, are they mentally and emotionally prepared for success?  Will they lose themselves in the midst of the glitz and glamour?  Although that I pray that all of my “sons” dreams come to fruition, I also pray that they’re properly prepared for success.  For me, Rod Wave offered a different perspective that I hadn’t considered prior to watching his interview.

A young man with potentially the number one album in the country, SoulFly.  A great piece of work, might I add.  The recipient of gold and platinum plaques for record sales.  Self-made millionaire.  But evident on The Breakfast Club all of those things still does not manifest into complete happiness.  Instead, it might bring the opposite of happiness.  As expected, during the interview, Charlamagne did ask Rod had he ever done therapy or mental wellness to deal with the pain.  To which he replied, “the music bro, I can’t really talk to nobody about that sentimental s###.  It’s uncomfortable for me.”  His sentiments are quite similar to every male I know whether they are chasing their dreams or have attained them.  Nevertheless we chase still.  Some of us will even sabotage our dreams to avoid the responsibilities that come with our dreams.  The pressure can be unbearable at times.

I just wanted to take the time to thank Rod Wave for giving us a glimpse into the other side of success for young rap stars. I hope those from a similar background as you, with shared aspirations watch your Breakfast Club interview and see what I saw.  And I pray that eventually you find solace in living your dreams.  Sincerely.  Cornell Dews

Kodak Black Escapes Death In Targeted Shooting; Security Guard Seriously Wounded

Rap star Kodak Black was targeted in a shooting earlier today (April 5th) in Tallahassee, Florida.

According to the cops, the rapper was in the parking lot of a McDonald’s during an incident that can only be described as disturbing.

Kodak was in town to perform as the headliner of the Culture3Fest. The rapper had just left Baja’s Beach Club around 3:00am when they noticed they were being followed by several vehicles.

Kodak’s security team managed to shake the car that was tailing them, so the rapper decided to make a stop at a nearby McDonald’s to grab a Sausage McGriddle with strawberry jelly for breakfast.

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, Kodak’s team blocked the entrance to the fast-food restaurant so he could safely pick up his order, and that is when violence erupted.

The same car that was following them in the earlier incident appeared out of nowhere and occupants in the vehicle started shooting.

According to TPD spokeswoman, a security guard working for Kodak was struck in the leg by the gunfire and seriously wounded, although more details about his condition were not immediately available.

Kodak Black was whisked away from the area in an armored vehicle, while the injured guard was rushed to surgery because a bullet hit his femoral artery causing him to lose a large amount of blood. He is currently in stable condition.

The shooting is the first high-profile incident involving Kodak Black since President Donald Trump pardoned the rapper and commuted his three-year prison sentence for lying on a federal application to purchase firearms.

However Kodak Black on probation for the next three years. In March, a judge gave Kodak the green light to travel around the country to perform, so long as he does so with 24-7, armed security.

With the global pandemic crippling the live show business worldwide, this concert is a game changing experience and also marks the first time D Smoke hits the stage in over a year. He made his mark on a stage – of sorts. Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow, the 2019 series, put him on the map globally. And he has not disappointed since. For tickets, click here.

D Smoke and Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur speak about performance in a pandemic, how the rapper is tackling the next chapter of his career and how important the live show is for him.

AllHipHop: How’s it going?

D Smoke: Man, I’m doing great. How are you?

AllHipHop: I’m good, man. You got that? You got that? Post Grammy fashion look all right now what’s good with you?

D Smoke: Man, it’s it’s cold up here, but you know, excited things going down. So I got my outdoors attire on.

AllHipHop: There’s this concert that you have coming up – Dreamstage, April 17th, The Black Habits Experience. Talk to me about it. What’s this experience going to be like?

D Smoke: The Black Habits Experience. This is the tour that never happened. This is the musical experience. This is the show that helps illustrate what Black Habits is about, both musically and story wise. It’s going to be a combination of some film elements that help us fill in the gaps to, you know, the stories that the album is telling. So some of what we’ve done film wise is going to the city of Inglewood and spoken to people that are close to me to just get the same stories, but from their perspective. And, you know, from my dad and mom to my brothers, and then as well as people from the city who could just speak to what it means to grow up in Inglewood.

So those kind of film elements will be woven into a live band experience with a three six – 10-piece band. So it’s just going to be one of those experiences that that really gives people a wonderful kind of listening of what Black Habits is about.

AllHipHop: Nice. So it’ll be sort of like a theater experience? A multi dimensional look at you.

D Smoke: Yeah, it was definitely a multi multi dimensional experience. Has its visual elements to it. And even just a thought that goes into things like the stage plot and how, who we incorporate even the people on stage in the band will be members of my family who were there when when these stories (played out in real life). My mother is going to join me again, my uncle will be playing bass. You know, this is my same uncle who, when I was 13, gave me all of his studio equipment, and set us off on being our own creators and producers and stuff. And, he’s also the same uncle that played bass for you know, Chaka Khan,Prince and Destiny’s Child and some everybody so those will be people who are joining me, as well as my cousins and my brothers.

AllHipHop: You’ve worked with significant rap fam family as well too. Will any of those folks show up?

D Smoke: We got some we got some guests that’ll be joining us. Tobe Nwigwe is gonna pull up and bless us. And then I also did a song with Kirby (“Super Power”). So she’s going to be coming through and we’ll performance together. So we got some guests coming up. And I’m still reaching out to see who’s available. Yeah, maybe some surprises. And this pandemic, but it feels like we’re we’re on the other side – approaching it.

D Smoke: Approaching it. We’re for sure approaching the other side and, and I look forward to getting out and being able to see people in person, and touch the fans., You know, reach the fans in person and show them what it means to share physical space and really give them that artistic that exchange of energy. Me, you know, having them in the room and then getting to see the art up close and personal. So, I’m for sure with that. I’m about that life and I look forward to that.

EXCLUSIVE: Rapper D Smoke Planning His First Novel

AllHipHop: Yeah, it’s interesting. Last time we talked you you spoke a lot about the performance aspect of it. I know It’s important to you, but overall, how important has it been to your success? The performance? Because I think that’s an element, a lot of MCs, if you will, forget about.

D Smoke: Right. Well, I mean, I think a lot of what people saw, like my introduction to the world had to do with my understanding and my experience in performing. I started off wanting to be a piano performance major and that, even that was one of those elements that set me apart on “Rhythm and Flow.” And, even not doing much, but in high school dancing, doing Hip-Hop dancing in his little crew, you know, what I’m saying. Even though I haven’t been dancing as of late, it just made me familiar with at least hitting certain points, so that an overall like, show could have a whole nother level or layer of energy. Those are some things that that kind of put me in this position, to be honest, because I was extremely competitive on “Rhythm and Flow.” And, you know, a lot of people believed in me from the jump, but from my perspective, it was like, if I didn’t pull out all stops at every point in time, it was anybody’s to take. So those things definitely played a role in me having this opportunity now to be on a global platform.

AllHipHop: Now, things are probably never going to truly go back to being what they were. Companies like myself, we’ve adopted this new way of doing things and haven’t quite missed a beat. Obviously, we missed the energy of sitting in front of someone, but for you, do you think this virual experience is the new way – a new revenue stream, a new way to reach people? Or will you drop that when things open up?

D Smoke: I believe I believe people will continue doing this, you know. I believe there, there’s a large musical audience that may not want to go back out to shows. So, I think it’ll be a hybrid of like, touring for the people who are into that, like, more intimate settings. I imagine you have smaller crowds and larger venues now. Capacities in the same spaces will go down, and the spaces won’t change size. So, people who aren’t really for that experience, because it also may entail other stipulations from, you know, temperature checks, COVID tests, vaccinations, you know, what I’m saying.

And there’s a large population of people who are like their preferences, their own to, you know, go about their health, however they see fit. So that they may just be like, you know, I’d rather stay home and stream it. But then for those of those people who enjoy that exchange of energy in person, they’re gonna do what it takes to go out. So probably see a hybrid of the two. So it’s cool that these things are showing up, especially in this time. For me it the fans need to see this and they need to see it now. They don’t want to wait until, you know, I’m putting out another album to go back and experience Black Habits because I got, I got plenty music.

EXCLUSIVE: D Smoke On His Connection To Kendrick Lamar – Collab “Just a Matter of Time”

Chadwick Boseman Gets Props At Screen Actors Guild Awards

Chadwick Boseman was posthumously honored with a Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (April 4th).

The “Black Panther” actor – who tragically died in August, 2020 after a secret battle with colon cancer – posthumously took home the Best Male Actor in a Leading Role prize for his role in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and his widow Simone Leward made sure to quote him as she collected the honor.

Accepting his prize, she said in the virtual ceremony: “If you see the world unbalanced, be a crusader that pushes heavily on the seesaw of the mind. That’s a quote by Chadwick Boseman.”

Simone also thanked the late actor’s parents – Leroy and Carolyn Boseman – as well as playwright August Wilson, who penned the play on which the film is based.

Elsewhere, Viola Davis – who starred alongside Chadwick in the movie – thanked her friend, the “beautiful Chadwick Boseman” as she collected her Female Actor in a Leading Role award.

And Daniel Kaluuya also remembered Chadwick as he collected his Male Actor in a Supporting Role prize for his role in “Judas and the Black Messiah.”

The actor, who appeared alongside Chadwick in “Black Panther,” said: “You can’t make a film without an incredible group of people that come together and want to say a truth.”

“This one’s for Chadwick Boseman, and this one’s for (Black Panther Party) Chairman Fred Hampton. Thank you so much.”

Kodak Black’s New Beef Is Getting Uglier And Uglier

We have to blame Donald Trump for all this! Before he was bounced out of the White House, The Donald saw fit to release Kodak Black from his shackles. At the time, Kodak was very woo-is-me about his condition. He was abused and beaten up and all this stuff. Well, they wanted pity and they got it.

Now that Kodak is out, there has been no change or transformation. People love him, but there are numerous beefs that have sprouted up. Most recently, Southside is going at the Florida Geechie Man. By the way, he was seen eating the eyes out of a fish. Some say its not jarring, for me it is.

That was a bit much.

So is Southside.

I had to do research to get to the bottom of this beef. Once upon a time, Kodak Black rapped punching Yung Miami in the stomach – WHEN SHE WAS PREGNANT. Her man Southside was NOT having it at all, as he wasn’t having it with Lil Uzi Vert. This was 2019. Blackie finally said “sorry” to both of them for being so out of pocket. In 2021, nothing has changed.

Southside said he is on his way to Miami and he wants his fade with Kodak. He even said don’t bring security. Just to the two of them.

At first, it seemed like Kodak would only be beefing with weak people, but he seems to be in it with a predator! I don’t know a lot about Southside, but he sure is a beast, as I see it. (If I am wrong, please put it in the comments and tell me why.) At any rate, one thing has changed a bit. It seems like Kodak is talking back a bit.

Note: I cannot understand a word in this video. Honestly, I do not know if Kodak Black is talking English sometimes. I know they say he is Haitian and a Geechie and I respect both cultures – for real. He just seems like he’s on the back of the short bus most of the time. This is my opinion, not AllHipHop’s.

Now that I think about it, I have always known about Southside for his production! It never even occurred to me that this street beast is the same dude! WOW! Southside produced “Clout,” “I Got The Keys,” “Tunnel Vision, Wicked,” “No Heart” and a bunch of other stuff. Now, he’s known for beasting!

Responding to reports of thousands of deaths and more than two million people displaced in the Tigray area of his parents’ homeland, the “Blinding Lights” hitmaker has committed to do what he can to help those affected by the ongoing troubles.

“My heart breaks for my people of Ethiopia as innocent civilians ranging from small children to the elderly are being senselessly murdered and entire villages are being displaced out of fear and destruction,” he says. “I will be donating $1 million to provide 2 million meals through the United Nations World Food Program and encourage those who can to please give as well.”

Nicki Minaj Is The First Female Rapper To Reach 1 Billion Streams

Nicki Minaj represents the first female rapper to reach 1 billion streams on YouTube for a solo song, an incredible career milestone.

The hit song “Anaconda” struck the one billion views mark on YouTube.

“Anaconda” hit in 2014 as a single from Minaj’s third studio album, The Pinkprint, but this is not the first time she has gotten over a billion streams. “Anaconda” is her sixth video to surpass the 1 billion view mark, but the first all by herself.

“Anaconda” received 19 million views on Youtube within 24 hours, even though Minaj was criticized for the gratuitous sexual content. Nevertheless, Billboard magazine named the song the 13th greatest video of the decade.

Nicki Minaj has yet to win a Grammy despite her social clout.

Minaj has four studio albums and numerous mixtapes and singles. She was the first woman to have 100 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, garnered 18 top 10 hit records, among numerous accolades.

Cassidy Ain’t Going Nowhere … Thanks to Rare Breed Entertainment The Philly Hustler Reclaims Respect in Battle Rap

Rare Breed Entertainment bounced off April with their Max Out card continuing “brick by brick” to build the battle rap franchise’s cache.

Star-studded and highly anticipated, the event was not only the premiere of former Jive recording artist Cassidy on the league but was the first big room event since the 2020 coronavirus global pandemic brought the industry to a halt.

1SKS

The event started with the 1SKs featuring two one-round battles from Jay Breed VA vs Delvo and Super Black vs. Jay Lopez.

Jay Breed might be a small stick of dynamite, but when he gets lit — he is combustive. His energy and wordplay felt more seasoned than his diminutive resume reflects. While he ascended as the victor to Houston-backed Delvo, he did not totally body him. It was bad but nobody. Delvo performed well and deserves another look.

The next one-rounder was with Super Black and Jay Lopez. Lopez, who had recently suffered from a car collision (which stopped him from attending the press conference/ face-off), did not come to play any games.

The Milwaukee spit-kicker was the underdog as battle rap is usually character and personality-driven and his opponent has plenty of those makings. Also, Super Black is a vet and was expected to do what he is known to do: cook.

But that was not the case. The crowd not only was distracted but was not interested. Lopez took the win.

Black Compass Media analyst Tony Bro commented on the battle noting that the talent was exceptional and dubbing Jay Bread as one of them one’s to watch. He posted on Twitter, “Both were dope to me. They was treating this like the smoke break battle man smh. Jay Breed the 1SK MVP tho, he made me a fan today.”

ROSENBERG RAW VS. SHOWOUT

Rosenberg Raw Showout

Brooklyn’s Showout needed to prove his value to the culture during the Max Out event. His expressed interest was to embarrass his opponent, showing him why his career has been a bunch of hype. However, those plans were stopped short and Rosenberg Raw. Dressed in an all-red Phillies’ baseball jersey, he meticulously unpacked his Show’s character with humor and crowd-pleasers. The driving narrative of Raw’s performance was to poke fun at his reported sexuality and his former friendship with disgraced battle rapper, Adhi Boom.

The crowd seemed to hate Show by the end, and it impacted him greatly. He basically gave up and handed the well-deserved win to Raw. 3-0 The Philly Buhl.

ILL WILL VS. A WARD

This battle was fire. FIIIIIYYYYAAAAHHH and indeed the battle of the night (possibly a contender for the best ones of the year).

Ill Will came out the gate with straight attacks on A Ward’s race, religion, and his engagement with Blackness as a white Christian battle rapper. Without ever doing too much, Ill Will has the charm and talent to pull off just about any and everything that he puts his mind to. Getting A Ward up out of here was his objective.

However, A Ward ain’t no slouch. #TheChristiansAreHere

Just as much as the crowd loved Ill Will, they loved A Ward. Going second is dangerous for either one of these freestyle masters because of the power of rebuttals. And the Christian took full advantage of this. Blasting off his first-round with “off the domes” left and right.

But as mentioned previously, Ill Will has the same superpowers. He came back rebuttaling (four if we counting) and reminded the world (that’s been streaming battles for over 10 months) what it feels like to be in the room.

HE WAS ROCKING THE AUDIENCE LIKE A BREASTFEEDING MOTHER ROCKS HER NEW CHILD TO SLEEP.

The two were 1-1 going into the third. And this is where the Pontiac rapper took his foot off the gear a little. That doesn’t mean his material and delivery were not exceptional — of course, they were … it is Ill “MuthaFlucking” Will, but he stopped short. His third-round just was not as competitive as he was in either one or two. A Ward took advantage of this and made magic happen. He took this win with a solid 2-1 (but there is no debate if someone gives it to Ill Will). #CLASSIC

JAG vs. O-RED

When Jag was announced against O-Red, many saw this as a straight mismatch. But considering how the crowd let loose their boos, the “many” were right. They both were not great. If there is a winner, Jag maybe 2-1.

Many believe that it should not have been this close. O-Red was the first Champion of the Year just four titles ago. But the Jersey artist seemed unmotivated and discouraged once the crowd turned on him. Jag on the other hand came with the purpose of establishing himself within the modern era of battle rap. While he has definitely progressed since his Math battle, he is still not quite there.

Regardless of the bountiful levels of disrespect he crafts in his bars, Jag has to learn that levels are needed. Being able to rap is not enough when you are dealing with this level of performance. He has to find his own key to success in this space. Still, a victory over O-Red is a feather in his cap, even if he was not the O-Red that people usually tremble in front of.

BIGG K VS. CLONE

Originally, Bigg K was scheduled to battle Serius Jones but due to unfortunate circumstances, he was unable to partake in one of the biggest cards of the new year.

Luckily, the minds of Rare Breed Entertainment were able to secure another talent with only sevens days to go until the battle. The team tapped Bullpen battle league gunner, Clone to replace the vet. Clone versus Bigg K seemed to be a better battle.

And it was a good match-up. The junior emcee was able to sharpen his steel against one of RBE’s biggest stars. And Bigg K challenged the young buhl (or bull’s) pen, stepping it up. But unfortunately, it just wasn’t enough.

Bigg K, the anti-star, is a fan favorite and came to get busy. The Dawg is the top dog in the house that blood, sweat, and tears built. And he that for good reason — he takes everyone regardless of tier with the same level of aloof disregard that makes his opponents either feel disrespected or really insecure.

Bigg K took this with a 2-1 (possible 3-0), but it is important to note how well Clone did.

CASSIDY VS. HITMAN HOLLA

The main event of the night was Cassidy vs. Hitman Holla. Both artists have succeeded far beyond the typical battle rapper’s scope. It is out of this well of exceptional talent that this battle yielded attention from celebrities and commercial rap fans.

Hitman brought out his Brotherhood frats who were sprinkled throughout the venue. John John da Don took center stage with his best friend. K-Shine did a tribute to DMX. X-Factor and Tsu Surf were in the cut. Battle rap’s elite came out to support one of its own.

Cassidy might as well have rung out a Morrone’s truck single, popped out some freshly baked soft pretzels, cracked the Liberty Bell, and wrapped all that up in a chicken cheesesteak … for all throughout the club were Philly representatives rooting for their city’s son.

This battle will be debated.

Cassidy showed just why he went to Central High — he listened and learned new tips on how to update his style and craft rhymes for the crowd versus himself. BARS are back. While still a little long-winded, he was more than prepared.

Hitman definitely was prepared also. He was entertaining and demonstrated why he is in such high demand. His BET show and Wild ‘N Out acclaim could’ve had him “too Hollywood” to rock the crowd. But it didn’t. From his requested remix in round one to his special guests in round three, he emerged as the victor.

The rapper did fail to remove the “Hotel” chart-topper in some people’s eyes.

He was supposed to get Cass out of there. Instead, he let the “Hustler” get (or appear to get) a round on him in the first.

He is after all a commercial rapper, coming back to the sport after it got lit. Right? That would be wrong reasoning. One can tell that Cass loves the culture. He loves the rush of competition and seems to be on a crash course to getting a legitimate and resounding victory.

In our opinion, the second and the third went to Hitman, but there will surely be a lot of fans that will side with Cass based on preference. But with that 1-1 going into the 3rd and then ShowwOutt’s anticipated appearance and Nick Cannon surprise pop-out, it is hard not to give the former basketball player the W.

He was good and should rightly be proud of his performance. He definitely reminded us that he was a star. Check out how other battlers chimed in.

Rare Breed Entertainment can also take a bow. The Max Out card marks the official return of the big room and this league ushered it in like true thought and cultural leaders. BRAVO.

Ruff Ryders Announce Prayer Vigil For DMX In Front Of Hospital

Family and friends of DMX continue to hope and pray for a miracle as the rap legend fights for his life.

According to reports, DMX is still on life support after he had a heart attack and lung failure, brought on by a drug overdose.

The 50-year-old rapper was admitted to the ICU unit of the White Plains Hospital on Friday (April 2nd) in White Plains, New York.

Unfortunately, DMX has not been responsive for almost 48 hours, and he has sustained serious brain damage.

DMX is currently surrounded by his close family members, including his fiance Desiree Lindstrom, and mom, Arnett Simmons, and more support is on the way.

The rapper, born Earl Simmons, helped kick start the Ruff Ryders record label, which launched after the chart success of his debut 1998 album It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot.

Tomorrow April 5th, The Ruff Ryders To The Rescue Foundation will host a prayer vigil outside of the White Plains Hospital where DMX is being treated.

“We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges,” DMX’s family told AllHipHop in a statement.

The prayer vigil is expected to kick off at 5:00 p.m., in front of the White Plains Hospital, which is located at 41 East Post Road in White Plains.

Three More Women Accuse T.I. And Tiny Of Assault

More trouble has stricken the doorsteps of Hip-Hop’s Trouble Man, Clifford “T.I.” Harris.

Three additional women have stepped forward to accuse the rapper and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris of sexual impropriety and assault.

The women have hired the attorney Tyrone A. Blackburn to represent their collective interests. The firm’s spokesperson shared that he was in conversations with “investigators from multiple jurisdictions to pursue criminal charges.”

One woman claims that once the two stars of VH1’s The Family Hustle reality show once “pulled out a pill and forced her to swallow it.”

She further alleges that their security took her phone while the three were in a South Beach hotel room. Then the “Whatever You Like” rapper “forced her to take a powdered substance from his finger.”

She continues her account by saying, “[Tiny] undressed her and proceeded to engage in sexual intercourse. She said her body was numb, the room was slowing down, and she could not consent.”

Her story is like one of the other women who have recently come forward. The difference is that in her account, another man was involved and she flat out accuses them of “drugging and raping.”

The third woman reports that she was drugged and assaulted across three states: Nevada, California, and Florida.

The couple strongly denies the claims, but with allegations of rape, kidnapping and drugging are preparing to defend themselves legally.

Their legal representation released a statement on behalf of the celebrity A-listers:

“My clients’ position remains the same. We are still waiting for the anonymous accusers to reveal themselves to the public and the Harrises. Their continued unwillingness and refusal to do so compromises and undermines every single allegation being made.”

What Happened To Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Forehead Diamond?

What happened to Lil Uzi’s forehead diamond?

In the midst of all of that drama with the City Girls, and Southside, Lil Uzi Vert did not have his Vision pink diamond in his forehead. He thinks I didn’t see it!

But the pink diamond, that cost about $24 million, was not there. Remember, at one point that big pink rock was bleeding as it was embedded directly into his skin. Furthermore the street started talking immediately about snatching it out of his head like Thanos did the vision. I’m not sure what the reason was, be at health or hood, but it’s not there. Don’t let southside get a hold of him with a pink diamond in his head! All the insurance in the world won’t get it back.

Lil Uzi Worried He Could Die After Bloody Reaction To $24 Million Diamond Forehead Implant

At any rate, I have not seen that he’s got it removed any where. In fact, the guy that gave him the implant is doing press! I hope he is keeping it real! By the way, there re claims that the diamond didn’t cost all that.

In other Lil Uzi Vert news, JT wanted to make sure that y’all stay out of their business, even though they were on Instagram live. But it seems like they are all good. The city girls are not going to break up over Lil Uzi Vert and JT made it clear that she and Young miami are still friends. Jeez. She’s really cussing out her own friends and fans.

Guess Who Bobby Shmurda Is Working With!

Looks like Bobby Shmurda is trying to get his career off to a great start. The rapper who was released from jail this year, has made it clear that he is not going to get in any trouble. And what better way to not get any trouble than to record with an artist that doesn’t want that smoke. I kid, but Lil Uzi Vert is that guy. Musically, he is hitting all the right notes with the young people, and that’s exactly what Bobby Shmurda needs. We don’t need any craziness to get the FEDS talking or gang members on wax!

Here are the terms:

An 8 PM curfew

Substance abuse testing – no drugs or alcohol

Counseling for anger and aggression.

He must work.

Cannot fraternize with gang members

Now remember, Bobby Shmurda is still a young guy, but he was incarcerated for a fairly lengthy period – for us normal folk. In fact, Hip-Hop changed hands quite a few times since he went in. So when he comes out again with new music, it is going to have to hit the mark with the current climate of the culture. If he doesn’t, then it’s going to look bad in his going to find it difficult out here. Lil Uzi can help.

So, if you look at the video below you will see that the two of them are in the studio and here’s some audio for you to hear and judge. What do you think?

Loaded Lux Drops NFT Called ‘Birth of The Grey Hoodie;’ Becomes First Battle Rapper In the Field

Battle rap’s most reputable Mt. Rushmore candidate, Loaded Lux, is taking his artistry to the next level. As the current NFT movement burgeons, the Harlemite takes claim by launching his own auction.

On Friday, April 2, the wordsmith officially mints the NFT, “Birth of The Grey Hoodie”, a digitized commemoration of his seminal battle versus Young Miles.

While the digital asset is called “Grey Hoodie,” it has also created an alter ego that is as legendary as the complicated rhymes that he has become known for.

With the selling of “BOTGH” will be the NFT release from a battle rapper and most likely in the battle rap industry.

What makes it even deeper is that HE and his team, representing the artist’s own likeness and autonomous creation, are steering the ship into the future of the culture.

His team includes: Tiff Lux, Hassan Abaddon, and Kofi Ofori-Ansah/Aleph Media Network

The “BOTGH” will be a 1 of 1 edition, available for auction bid Tuesday, April 6 on the Foundation platform. The winner of the auction will also receive an autographed ‘Grey Hoodie’ from the official Loaded Lux merchandise store.

A pioneer in the culture, Lux hasn’t been jumping on a stage to compete in 2021. But what he has done is released a diss track that targeted all the emerging artists thinking they could take his rust crown. Needless to say … it goes untarnished.

Flavor Flav Says There Is No Comparing Him To Boosie After Airport Mixup

Rap legend Flavor Flav has weighed in on a case of mistaken identity involving himself, and rapper Boosie.

The kerfuffle started when Boosie was strolling through an airport, and a woman rolled up on him in awe.

The problem was, the woman thought Boosie was Flavor Flav, which didn’t go over too well with the Baton Rouge rapper, who refused to acknowledge the fan and kept on walking.

“I was just in the f###### airport, lady gonna be talking bout ‘Flavor Flav.’ I don’t look like no damn Flavor Flav. I look like Boosie…it’s too early in the morning for this s###. She said ‘Flavor Flav’ and I kept f###### walking. Flav you can’t f### with me man,” Boosie fumed.

Flavor Flav got wind of the mixup, and responded to Boosie in kind, saying the same thing happened to him as he was walking through a mall.

“Aye yo check this out I’m walking through the mall and m############ is running up to me talking about ‘Lil Boosie.’ I don’t look like no Lil Boosie If anything Lil Boosie you look like me. I was here first,” Flavor Flav said. “I’m a big fan of Lil Boosie but Boosie can’t f### with Flav for real,” Flav said.

Flav playfully reminded Boosie that he was “here first” and while Boosie was a legend in his own right, the legendary Public Enemy group member has stats.

“I got stats baby, I got stats. I like Lil Boosie man that’s my dude. He runs around smacking the s### out of people. Oh he’s a real n#### G, but he still can’t f### with Flav. I got the stats alright? Word to the bird.”

Rick Ross Promises To Deliver On New Album “Richer Than I Ever Been”

Rapper Rick Ross has been busy building his business empire, but he wants his fans to know that his music comes first.

Over the years, Rick Ross has evolved into a savvy entrepreneur with investments in companies like Wingstop, a telehealth medicine business called Jetdoc, and of course his signature liquor brand, Belaire.

Over the past several months, Rick Ross has been promising fans a new album, titled Richer Than I Ever Been.

Music remains the number one priority for the “Bawse,” who is arguably at the top of his game right now.

“I’m putting together an album For me. To me it ain’t even about paper it’s about reminding n##### of the word play I do the selection of production is unmatched it’s unparalleled with any other n####, you understand? I grew up listening to Reebie Jackson you all know who that is? Hell no n#### y’all only knew her brother [Michael].. That’s what I’m trying to tell you is details.

During an interview with Haute Living in November, Rozay explained why he decided to name the album Richer Than I Ever Been, and surprisingly, the concept for the multi-millionaires album is not just all about the benjamins.

“You have to be connected with yourself more than you ever have to be richer than you’ve ever been. Before you open up and allow someone else to love you, you have to love yourself,” Rick Ross explained.

So far, there is no release date for Richer Than I Ever Been.

Did A Gun Come Out At The Hitman Holla Vs Cassidy?

Oh Man! What the hell us going on? Rap battles are supposed to be INSTEAD of fighting or shooting. So, it was weird to read that a gun came out at the Cass / Hitman Holla battle. First of all, this was a very volatile battle to begin with and if you saw the face-off, you know it was probably going to carry on to the stage. I watched bits and pieces. First of all, I heard Cassidy got like $225 THOUSAND bucks for his performance. I am in the wrong line of work! MC ILLSEED on the way!

Anyway, Hitman and Cass battle it out and whoever won is anybody’s opinion. I saw 2-1 Cass and I saw 2-1 Hitman. I Saw 3-0 Hit man. I saw it all. But, what somebody says they saw is a gun at the battle – and Cass pulled it? Well, what had happened was The Bloods were allegedly in the building on behalf of Hitman. Remember at the face-off Hitman came by himself – his brother wasn’t even there. And he became fearful that something was going to pop off. Well. He got his “bag” that allegedly had the blicky in it. It set the tone…

On stage, it seemed like the it was going to pop off. And it kinda did, but they were able to squash it.

A gun definitely did not come out though. I was told that it definitely was tense, but that did not happen thankfully.

Who do you think won?

Here Are The Tour Dates For Benny The Butcher’s Upcoming Tour

Benny The Butcher is taking no shortcuts in physical therapy after he was shot in the leg during an altercation in Houston in November of 2020.

Earlier this week, Benny posted a video of himself undergoing therapy as he recovers from a bullet wound to the leg, which he sustained when a group of goons attempted to snatch his diamond chain in a Walmart parking lot.

Benny is going the extra mile to heal, in anticipation of getting back out on the road to perform again, now that pandemic restrictions are easing up around the country.

The Buffalo, New York rapper wants to be in tip-top sheep for his upcoming outing, The Burden of Plugs tour, which will stop in 22 cities, including major markets like Philadelphia, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, and Las Vegas.

Benny just announced he would be trekking across the country for The Burden of Plugs tour, which kicks off on October 7th in Atlanta, Georgia, and ends in November, in Austin, Texas.

Benny addressed the overwhelming demand for his presence in cities that are not included on this run since some fans were complaining.

“Man y’all know I want to come to everybody’s city on this tour but, n####, I don’t map these dates out. Trust me, we gonna add more dates, so I might be in your city…relax,” Benny The Butcher told his overzealous fan base.

“It’s going to feel so good to get back to the people again,” the rapper continued. “We back in the venues.”
