Your Old Droog Celebrates His Ukrainian Roots On New Track “Ukraine”

After dropping three acclaimed albums in 2019, Your Old Droog is back with the new single “Ukraine,” his first official release of 2020.

Once again, the National Treasure is putting his personal story at the forefront, going even further than the themes of his latest collection Jewelry.

“My last project was about unapologetically claiming my heritage as a
Jew,” explains Droog. “This song is about embracing my Ukrainian and Eastern European roots.”

With powerful production supplied by Ewonee, the track finds YOD reflecting on his days growing up in Brooklyn as a Russian-speaking immigrant from Ukraine.

Signs: Sisters Attack Security Guard For Telling Them To Wear Mask

A pair of sisters are now in jail on attempted first-degree murder charges after they allegedly stabbed a security guard 27 times for telling them to wear masks and use hand sanitizer. This all happened in Chicago, Illinois! The two sisters, name Jessica and Jayla Hill, allegedly went into a retail store and got into a verbal altercation with a security guard.

It seems like the altercation was verbal until Jessica, 21, pulled out a knife and began to stab the 32-year-old security guard repeatedly in his back arms, and neck! Then, the sister Jayla, who is 18, held the man down as her sister continue to stab him! Fortunately, the man did not die and is presently in stable condition.

The women were also taken to the hospital for minor injuries and subsequently charged with attempted first-degree murder. They are presently being held without bond and will see a court date on November 4! They going to jail…like prison jail!

What is going on in the world!?! I feel like I am really getting old because I do not understand why people are doing such savage and dumb things to each other! We are in the midst of an international pandemic and we are seeing unprecedented attacks on people of color! And they do this? Is it possible that we are seeing that pressurized living is causing people to crack up? I don’t know but this is some of the craziest stuff I have ever seen in my entire life!

Jessica and Jayla Hill! Get it together!

“I’ve always been into fashion. Back then, I couldn’t afford what I wanted, now I can. It’s easier and I have more connections with brands,” Cardi told FN. “I could wear the most uncomfortable shoe and I’m just going to take it and love it because it’s fashion, it’s beauty, it’s amazing, it’s different. I get bored, so that’s when me and my stylist [Kollin Carter], we get creative and come up with something new and amazing.”

The Grammy winner has become one of the leading stars of the fashion industry over the last three years. With her breakout #1 single “Bodak Yellow” in 2017, she made the phrase “bloody shoes” synonymous with Christian Louboutin’s high-priced red bottom heels.

Chuck D & Eminem Promote “Make History Here” Easy-Access Voting Campaign

There are less than six days until voting for the 2020 general election comes to an end. With the COVID-19 pandemic still raging across the United States as well as some elected officials’ plots to close polling locations and remove ballot drop-off boxes, voting could be more difficult for some citizens this year than in the past.

In response, the nonpartisan Election Super Centers Project launched the “Make History Here” initiative to help ensure access to socially-distanced, in-person voting at the nation’s arenas and stadiums. Local election authorities, prominent athletes, and numerous NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, and MLS teams are working to make the right to vote safer and easier.

“You’re used to going to these arenas to cheer on your favorite team. Now you can use these spaces to really make your voice heard in an even more profound way – by exercising your right to vote,” states Doc Rivers, head coach of the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers.

Two Hip Hop legends have also joined the “Make History Here” campaign. Chuck D and Eminem side with other celebrities such as LeBron James, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Orlando Bloom, Jeffrey Wright, Mariska Hargitay, D.L. Hughley, T.I., Sarah Silverman, DeAndre Jordan, and Maddie Ziegler in assisting to promote Election Super Centers.

“With less than a week to go before election day, we’re seeing record-breaking early voting numbers across the country, and this effort is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to encourage voters to make their voices heard at their favorite sporting venues,” says Public Enemy’s Chuck D. “Every American deserves access to a ballot, and every vote counts.”

Eminem adds, “Being able to head to a stadium or arena to vote makes it easier and safer than ever to use your voice. With six days left these are places you can go to and safely do it in-person. You only get one shot… sorry I couldn’t resist!”

Kendrick Lamar Makes His Return On Busta Rhymes’ “Look Over Your Shoulder” Single

The Kendrick Lamar hive has been patiently waiting for their favorite emcee to let loose new bars. It has been a while since fans of Kung Fu Kenny heard his voice on a record.

Top Dawg Entertainment’s Compton representative returns this week as a guest feature on Busta Rhymes’s new album titled Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God. Before Busta drops the project on October 30, he decided to present the Jackson 5-sampling song “Look Over Your Shoulder” featuring Kendrick Lamar.

The Pulitzer Prize winner provided the opening verse on “Look Over Your Shoulder.” Kendrick Lamar used Busta’s new single to tell the naysayers, “I lead this new generation, boy. Don’t argue with us.”

Last week, Lamar broke his media silence as well. K. Dot took part in a special interview with his pgLang apprentice Baby Keem for the 40th Anniversary issue of i-D magazine where they talked about taking a long time to release albums. 2017’s DAMN was Lamar’s most recent studio LP. He also curated 2018’s Black Panther: The Album.

In addition to the TDE superstar, Busta Rhymes tapped Rakim, Pete Rock, M.O.P., Bell Biv Devoe, Q-Tip, Rick Ross, Anderson .Paak, Rapsody, Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, and more for contributions to E.L.E. 2. Comedian Chris Rock and Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan are named on the tracklist too.

Juice WRLD’s Mother Speaks On Her Son’s Addiction, Death & Legacy

Chicago-raised Hip Hop artist Jarad Anthony Higgins (aka Juice WRLD) died on December 8, 2019, from an accidental drug overdose at the age of 21. Juice’s untimely passing rocked the Hip Hop world, and many of his fans are still mourning the “Lucid Dreams” hitmaker nearly a year later.

Juice WRLD’s mother has now addressed the situation for the first time publicly. Carmela Wallace recently spoke with ABC 7 Chicago about her son, his legacy, and his cause of death.

“It was devastating, but one thing I decided early on was, I was not going to hide the fact that he died from a drug overdose,” said Wallace. Medical examiner reports claimed oxycodone and codeine led to Higgins losing his life.

She added, “I said, ‘If you have anxiety, then you need to get medicated properly for it instead of medicating yourself.’ I talked to him about it. I told him my biggest fear was him overdosing on the stuff. That’s why I made the decision I have to talk about it with other people. I can’t keep that as a secret.”

Wallace started the Live Free 999 foundation. Its mission is to help other young people dealing with addiction, anxiety, and depression. She stated, “I hope it’s what he wanted, a legacy of healing. To let people know that you don’t have to suffer alone.”

Prior to his death, Juice WRLD rose up the rap ranks with the release of his 2018 debut studio LP, Goodbye & Good Riddance, which is now certified Platinum by the RIAA. Lil Bibby’s protégé also earned a Gold plaque for 2019’s Death Race for Love.

The posthumous project, Legends Never Die, was released on July 10 of this year. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 497,000 first-week units. Legends Never Die still remains in the Top 5 in its 15th week on the album chart.

LeBron James, Beyoncé & Cardi B Named Among Top Celebrities Raising Awareness About Voting

Whitman Insight Strategies and MRC Data, in partnership with DISQO, conducted a survey of 1,103 likely voters to see how much influence entertainers and athletes have on the voting public. Only 12% of those surveyed reported that a celebrity influenced their thinking regarding the election.

When it comes to who has done the most to raise awareness and motivate people to go to the polls, LeBron James came in first overall with 36%, according to information published by The Hollywood Reporter. Taylor Swift was second with 13%, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson polled at 9%. They were followed by Oprah Winfrey with 6%. Cardi B, Beyoncé, and Colin Kaepernick tied with 5% each.

The youngest voting block, Generation Z, presented some similar results. For voters in the 18-23 age range, James (22%), Swift (18%), Beyoncé (8%), and Cardi B (8%) were seen as four of the most active celebs connected to promoting voting. While he did not make the top 7 for the general public, Kanye West jumped to 11% for Gen Z.

According to the WIS/MRC Data survey, 75% of voters said they wanted to see entertainers use their platforms to address social and political issues in America such as the COVID-19 pandemic, voting, and racial justice. Fans of Lizzo (74%), Cardi B (73%), Billie Eilish (70%), Beyoncé (67%), and Ariana Grande (63%) approve of artists giving issue-based speeches.

Veteran actor Tom Hanks was named as the person with the most trusted opinion on politics for total voters (49%). He was followed by Johnson (45%), Winfrey (38%), and James (32%). Hanks and Johnson were also listed at the peak of the favorability rankings with both Hollywood stars scoring a 74% rating. A majority of people had an unfavorable view of President Donald Trump (57%), Kim Kardashian (56%), Kanye West (55%), and Senator Mitch McConnell (52%).

LeBron James, Taylor Swift, Dwayne Johnson, Tom Hanks, and Cardi B have all announced they are voting for the Democratic Joe Biden-Kamala Harris ticket in the 2020 presidential race. Donald Trump supporter, Kid Rock, was named as the most influential voice for Republican voters (46%). Kanye West is running for the U.S. presidency as a longshot independent candidate after previously backing Trump.

Chelsea Handler: 50 Cent Told Me He’s Supporting Joe Biden

50 Cent had some liberals upset and some conservatives excited when he publicly backed Donald Trump for president. Was 50 just trolling when he told his followers to vote for the Republican candidate? According to his ex-girlfriend, Chelsea Handler, the answer to that question is yes.

Handler made an appearance on The View yesterday. During the interview, she informed the show’s hosts and the entire nation that she spoke to 50 Cent following their viral political exchange on social media.

“[50 Cent] called me two nights ago. We spoke for about half an hour. I DMed him and said, ‘Can you please call me about this? I don’t want this to be public. I really want to know if you’re serious about supporting Trump,'” said Handler on the ABC daytime program.

The standup comedian continued, “He called me. He wasn’t serious. He was just screwing around on his Twitter. He is supporting Joe Biden. He made that very clear to me, and he said that I was able to tell you girls, and any other press I did, that he is supporting Joe Biden.”

50 Cent did walk back his endorsement of Trump before Handler recalled their phone conversation. On Saturday, he tweeted, “What, another spin. F### Donald Trump, I never liked him. For all I know, he had me set up and had my friend Angel Fernandez killed but that’s history. LOL @chelseahandler @jimmyfallon.”

Jay-Z Launches Clever Marketing Campaign For New Marijuana Business Monogram

One thing we know about Hov is that he always has a social justice component to his business initiatives, setting the example that commerce and compassion are not exclusive attributes on the road to generational wealth.

The billionaire’s new cannabis company Monogram is back in the news because of the social inequity in the marijuana industry and its impact the national descheduling dilemma has on the Black community.

The facts are simple: there are 11 states in the country where it is legal to recreationally smoke or ingest weed. Of these 11 states, 10 are connected. The one state that is not connected is Alaska and as the geography would have it, the Last Frontier is connected to Canada, the only country in North America where cannabis is federally legal.

Because Jay-Z sees this as a hindrance for those who do partake. According to AdAge, Monogram started a campaign using mobile billboards that say:

“Here Cannabis is legal. Enjoy responsibly” on the outskirts of legal states, this way people will know that this is real and they can puff in peace.

In the states that prohibit smoking, those signs say, “Here cannabis is illegal. Avoid the bookings.”

What’s a booking? Getting knocked because you are breaking the law getting high.

Last year, Jay-Z (whose real name is Shawn Carter) was named the chief brand strategist for Caliva, a cannabis company out in California that has partnered with the mogul to create the Monogram brand.

Clearly, his strategy is to help people get free from the inconsistency in the marijuana space for the poor and people of color.

Adele and Skepta Are NOT Dating!

Adele got her a rude boi! Adele and Skepta are NOT dating! I am really pretending to be excited, but it seems to be the big thing on social media.

People the Magazine has confirmed– AND THEY WERE WRONG! I did not even realize that they were friends, and continue to be just that. I have not followed Adele since I was in a deep depression. The longtime friends have NOT converted into lovers after many months of courtship. Most people expect them to make some music together.

Anyway, a source told People, “They run in the same circles in London, and she’s having fun” ADN THEY WERE WRONG. It should also be noted that Adele has had a major glow up recently after losing a lot of weight.

Here is now she cleared it up:

“Had the best time on SNL! Thank you to the most wonderful cast, crew, writers and producers. What a sublime bunch of people you are. Lorne thank you for believing in me! Lindsay my sister for life, Maya my comedy and Mama hero! Plus the so up for it audiences at both the dress rehearsal and live show! I did it for the joy of it and I hope you got some from it too! Good luck with the election America I love you so much. Look after each other and go easy on yourselves. Happy Halloween! I’m going back to my cave now to be the (single) cat lady that I am! Peace out til next year ♥️”

Even Tom Hank’s son was on her, talking like he’s a Black Jamaican Remember this?

Blac Chyna Scores Victory In On-Going War With Kardashian Clan

Blac Chyna and the Kardashians don’t need the E! network to have a real-life reality show. It seems as though everything that they do is TV level type of drama.

The family is currently suing the former dancer-turned-Kardashian-bestie-turned-baby-momma-turned-business-woman over the cancellation of her reality show with her daughter’s father and ex-fiancé, Rob Kardashian, “Rob & Chyna.”

When the relationship dissolved the family wanted her out and the show over, leaving her out in the cold.

The New York Post reports that a judge sided with Ms. Chyna. The courts shut down the Kardashian’s motion to dismiss Chyna’s lawsuit that challenged their right to cancel the reality show with Rob.

In a statement, Chyna’s lawyer Lynne Ciani says, “Chyna is beyond thrilled that she will have her day in court.”

This is a redemptive victory because last month, Chyna was shot down by a judge. She wanted a claim that she abused/ assaulted Rob tossed out. However, the judge will permit the allegation to push forward.

De La Soul Assembles All-Star Ensemble On Anti-Trump Song “Remove 45”

Native Tongue fans from all across the world are celebrating new music from the iconic group, De La Soul.

It has been over four years since the trio dropped, the Grammy-nominated And The Anonymous Nobody. It would be the fourth time that group was invited to the big music industry dance, and their sixth nomination (having won one for Best Pop Collaborations with Vocals in 2006).

Those who have come to appreciate Posdnuos’ intricate lyricism and Dave aka Trugoy refreshing flow enjoyed the offering but have been thirsting for a new splash, something that would not only bob their heads, wet their whistle, add profoundly to their remarkable discography that almost always is populated with classic Hip-Hop music, but also move them to act in power.

Their fans know that music is supposed to move you to act in power.

Hallelujah! These rap gods have heard and answered their fans’ cry, with their latest release called, “Remove 45.”

The song features some of their friends: Styles P, Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch, rap activist Mysonne & Chuck D. The song is saturated with bar alchemists, who have spit pure gold in this politically charged track aimed to get people out to vote— pointing to facts as to why President Trump has to go.

“When it comes to this president and his administration we need to exercise our right to vote and REMOVE him from office,” says POS.

Earlier this year, Dave found himself admitted into Georgetown University Hospital after facing a life-changing stint after battling congestive heart failure. His group held him down in a way that the current president could never.

Many people have found themselves hospitalized due to all kinds of ailments, and many of Donald Trump’s statements and his administration’s positions on the nation’s health care have been reckless (as per many of the nation’s leading health professionals) and dangerous.

While some celebrities, like Dave, can afford hospitalization … should the president dissolve the affordable care act (Obama Care) many lay people will be left for dead not being able to shoulder the burdens that come with extraordinary hospital bills.

“Remove 45” aims to encourage people to get out to vote and will be a little taste of what is soon to come.

The legendary group is in the lab working on a new project produced by none other than DJ Premier and Pete Rock, arguably two of the biggest superstar producers of the culture.

Iggy Azalea Has No Issues Co-Parenting With Playboi Carti After Split

Iggy Azalea has insisted that she and ex Playboi Carti are dedicated co-parents to son Onyx.

The 30-year-old rapper, real name Amethyst Kelly, confirmed on her Instagram page that she and Carti, real name Jordan Carter, had split, adding: “What I meant… was that I’m raising my son alone & I’m not in a relationship.”

However, the remark led to concern from fans, and prompted Iggy to clarify Carti’s role in Onyx life in a post on her Instagram Stories.

“Nothing I said was intended to make it seem like my sons father isn’t part of his life but I’ve noticed a lot of people took it that way so I wanted to clear the air,” she wrote. “Onyx is so so loved by his dad & always has had both parents in his life from day one.”

Carti has yet to comment on Iggy’s posts on his own social media pages.

Iggy is believed to have welcomed Onyx in April after hiding her pregnancy from the public, before sharing the news in June.

Revolutionary Carl Dix Speaks To Why Ice Cube And 50 Cent Are Dead Wrong About Trump

Carl Dix is voting for the first time in 2020. This is major. The revolutionary, activist, speaker, and leader in the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA is voting for the very first time in his 72 years on this Earth. Flat out, he is voting for Democrat Joe Biden and vehemently opposes Donald Trump and Mike Pence, who he feels are ushering in an age of American fascism. A military vet, his wiki is a testament to his principles and speaks volumes to his commitment to upheaving the system. He co-founded the October 22nd Coalition to Stop Police Brutality and worked with Dr. Cornel West to halt the NYPD’s stop-and-frisk program, that stops untold thousands of people of color and frisk them. He’s in Black Workers Congressthe African Liberation Support Committee, and Vietnam Veterans Against the War, and more. Now, in the year 2020, he is fighting again, specifically to push Trump – via the coalition  Refuse Fascism – and his administration out of office.

Dix is also aware. He understands and rejects the sentiments supported by 50 Cent, Ice Cube, and those like them – that are working with or in support of Donald Trump. He speaks to the Hip-Hop audience for the first time, in an impassioned plea to rebuke the concepts and ideologies of these luminous Hip-Hop heavies. He also addresses other matters like voter suppression, capitalism, children in cages, and working with the likes of Dr. Cornel West for the betterment of Black people.

EXCLUSIVE: Meek Mill, Jay-Z Get Victory In Battle With Philly Police Officer, But War Continues

(AllHipHop News) A Philly cop fired from the police force just lost part of her attempt to get some money out of Meek Mill and Jay-Z.

The former officer, Saqueta Williams, sued the pair in January, claiming she was defamed because her image was featured in the documentary “Free Meek.”

Williams filed her lawsuit against Meek and Jay for including her image in the documentary after she was placed on a list of problematic and corrupt police officers.

The list of questionable cops was featured in an episode of “Free Meek” titled “Filthadelphia,” which discussed the department’s do not call list to prevent the officers from testifying in cases due to their credibility issues.

Williams landed on the list for allegedly drawing a gun illegally during a dispute outside of a bar in North Philly.

She was acquitted of the charges and she took issue with her image being featured in the documentary which framed her as one of several corrupt cops on the police force.

Earlier this week, a judge dismissed two key parts of the lawsuit against Jay and Meek. The allegation of intentional infliction of emotional distress was tossed, as was Williams’ charge of civil conspiracy.

However, the superstar rappers will have to deal with two surviving claims in Williams’ lawsuit. The judge has agreed to hear her allegation of defamation and another claim of false light invasion of privacy.

“Free Meek” centers around Meek’s battle for freedom against corrupt Philly police officers during his 12-year stint on parole for gun and drug charges from 2008.

Meek was sent back to prison in 2017 after he was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison for a variety of minor probation violations.

The rapper’s lawyers maintained Judge Genece Brinkley had a personal vendetta against the rap star.  Reginald Graham, the cop who arrested him in 2008, was also on the list of corrupt cops whose testimony could not be trusted in court.

Fortunately, after a brief legal battle, Meek’s sentence was overturned and he was released from prison in April of 2018.

Questlove Looking For Stranger Who Helped Him Start His Record Collection When He Was 5

The Roots star Questlove is hoping to track down the stranger who bought him a turntable and a handful of vinyl records when he was a child.

The 49-year-old musician and DJ, real name Ahmir Khalib Thompson, opened up about his encounter with the “kind woman” in a Facebook post over the weekend, revealing the woman, who he knew only as Ellie, helped him start what is now his massive record collection.

Alongside a note the mysterious benefactor had written in 1976 after asking him what type of music he liked, the star penned: “The start of my record collection starts with this note.

According to Questlove, he met the woman when he was five years old while waiting for his parents to finish their set at a nightclub in Portland, Maine.

“Being the irresistible cat that I was, I talked an older woman named Ellie into buying me a stereo and a record collection,” he recalled. “I truly didn’t think she was coming back the next day with my request. She asked me what did I like and I said ‘records’ she asked ‘what type of records?'”

“I knew talking to strangers was a no no but my instincts paid off. She started writing it down,” The Roots drummer remembered, recalling he told her hits by Rufus and the Jackson Five.

Ellie returned to the nightclub the following night to present him with a turntable and three records and, while his parents were “heated,” he added: “Whatever she pleaded saved my behind that night cause black parents don’t play w talking to strangers (wasn’t so lucky a year later when I asked a stranger to play ‘Brick House’ on the jukebox at the local corner store).”

Questlove went on to ask fans if they had any idea of whom the mysterious woman could be, insisting he’d “like to know” along with the hashtag “#WhereIsEllie.”

Machine Gun Kelly Explains How He Fell In Love With Megan Fox

Machine Gun Kelly has credited girlfriend Megan Fox for making him “a better person.”

The 30-year-old star, who went public with his romance with Megan back in May, told NME.com that he fell in love with the “Transformers” star while making his album Tickets To My Downfall – and the relationship changed the whole direction of his life.

Admitting he began work on the record when he was “coked out of my mind in a drunken stupor,” Kelly – real name Colson Baker – added: “Tickets is essentially my diary because I did fall in love during the making of this record, and I did become a better person.

“There was probably a crossroads in the middle of making this album where the title would have lived up to the reality. I think the universe caught on to me wanting to make a change. It was like: ‘Maybe we won’t make this a reality; maybe we’ll make this ironic.’ Instead of the downfall, go ahead and have the biggest rise of your f***ing life.”

Since going public with their romance, Megan and Kelly’s relationship appears to have gone from strength to strength.

Recent supports suggest the screen star has even introduced him to the three sons she shares with estranged husband Brian Austin Green.

Speaking on the track, Nate says, “I’m a real 90’s baby. Dudes like Pharrell and Lil Wayne were who I was looking up to. This song is a homage to that early 2000’s era and what these guys did for the culture at that time.”

The official music video for the song is delayed as Nate awaits his Custom Iced Out Baby-G Shock from his jeweller @goldgrillzmtl. “It’s finna be the hardest s### my city ever seen.”

Nate came up with his Instagram handle @everyonesaweirdo on a trip to LA, “out back behind the studio crib I was living at. Chillin’, smoking, and boom. The name speaks for itself but I’ve always been one ’em n*ggas they call ‘weird’ because I stood out and moved different. But everyone got some super weird ass sh-t about ’em.”

Look out for Nate’s forthcoming project, Adult Supervision dropping Q1 2021.
