Queen Latifah-Produced ‘Black Equals Beauty’ Docuseries To Stream On Quibi

It appears Queen Latifah and Quibi have a good working relationship. The Hip Hop mogul starred in the streaming platform’s When the Streetlights Go On which was described as a “movie in chapters.”

Now Latifah has teamed with Quibi again to produce the four-part documentary series Black Equals Beauty. The Nneka Onuorah-directed program explores Black women confronting oppressive archetypes through their style, beauty, and behavior with each episode focusing on a different archetype.

“There has never been a more important time to explore and elevate Black women’s contributions to American culture,” said Holly Carter, founder and CEO of Relevé Entertainment. “We are honored to work with Nneka Onuorah to spotlight how Black beauty has inspired our culture throughout history through the perspectives of celebrities, trendsetters, and everyday people. I’m committed to telling stories that elevate our voice.”

Black Equals Beauty comes from Flavor Unit Entertainment, Relevé Entertainment, Lionsgate, and Elevated Films. Queen Latifah, Shakim Compere, Holly Carter, and Cassian Elwes are credited as executive producers.

“We’re proud to collaborate with the iconic Queen Latifah and the incredible Nneka Onuorah on a documentary series that is as enjoyable as it is empowering and timely,” said Lionsgate SVP and Head of Unscripted Programming Alice Dickens-Koblin. “Together with our amazing producing partners, we’re bringing Quibi audiences a series that resonates and examines the impact Black women have on American culture in such a powerful and beautiful way.”

Cardi B Talks Female Rappers Being Under Pressure To Have A Smash Hit

Belcalis “Cardi B” Almánzar has not had too much trouble creating popular songs. The Bronx-bred entertainer holds the record for most Number Ones on the Hot 100 chart for a female rapper (4). Throughout her four-year music career, she has secured 38 million RIAA certified units for singles, the most for a female rapper.

This year saw Cardi release one of her biggest hits to date. “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion has already spent four weeks at #1 on the Hot 100, and it became the inaugural leader of Billboard‘s Global 200 chart. Plus, the collaboration’s music video broke records on YouTube.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsm4poTWjMs[/embedyt]

According to Cardi, being able to create hit songs that top music rankings around the world is not as easy as it looks. The Invasion of Privacy album creator spoke to SiriusXM about the pressures of dropping new music.

“Throughout this whole time, people were making rumors like, ‘Oh she’s having problems with her label… Her label is shelving her… Her label is tired of her and they’re getting more female talent,'” said Cardi. “It’s like, no, they’re never tired of me. Labels – they don’t give a f-ck. They want you to put music out. That’s what they love. They want you to put music out all the time, all the time.”

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hc46Ny3GnRI[/embedyt]

She added, “Female rappers – they are always [under] mad pressure. If you don’t have a super crazy smash, it’s like, ‘Oh, you flop, flop, flop.’ The song could be like two-time platinum and it’s still, ‘Flop, flop, flop.’ You’re always under pressure. I feel like it’s not fair. I feel like there are male artists who go two years without putting a f-cking song out and they don’t be like, ‘Oh, you’re irrelevant. It’s over for you.’ Me, I didn’t put out songs for nine months, and it’s like, ‘Oh, she’s irrelevant. She’s over. She’s a flop. We told you that.’”

Cardi went on to admit those types of comments did start to affect her, but she did not allow the negativity to force her to release new music before she felt the record was ready. Besides “WAP,” 2020 also included the Atlantic recording artist appearing on Anitta’s “Me Gusta” with Myke Towers. Cardi is also expected to be a guest feature on Blackpink’s The Album which comes out on October 2.

Charlamagne Tha God: Kanye West Owes Big Sean $3 Million & Blocked Him From Owning His Masters

Kanye West is currently focusing his life mission on freeing musicians from their record label contracts. The G.O.O.D Music founder specifically railed against the major label system not letting him own his master recordings.

After some observers questioned if West was treating the acts signed to his own record company fairly, Ye promised to give back the 50% share he owns of G.O.O.D. artists’ masters back to the artists. Big Sean responded by tweeting, “Thank you!!! This would help so much.”

According to Charlamagne Tha God of The Breakfast Club, Sean had already asked for ownership of his masters and West blocked that from happening. The radio host also reported that West owes Sean $3 million, assumingly from unpaid royalties for his music.

“The restraint that Big Sean shows to Kanye West is remarkable. That lets me know he really is a healed individual… I hope one day Big Sean tells his story. Just know Kanye West owes Big Sean a whole lot of money,” said Charlamagne during Angela Yee’s “Rumor Report” segment. “And he got Big Sean in a very terrible contract to be out here screaming about giving folks their masters back.”

CTG added, “Kanye West owes Big Sean $3 million. Kanye West gets half of Sean’s profits and half of Sean’s royalties. And Kanye wouldn’t agree to Big Sean getting his masters back from Def Jam. Kanye needs to do right by Big Sean.” He also claimed that Sean tried to negotiate a deal with Def Jam and Universal Music Group to get full ownership of his masters but West would not sign off on the agreement.

Big Sean has released several albums and mixtapes under G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam, including 2020’s Detroit 2 which dropped on September 4. The Michigan representative was also part of the collaborative projects Twenty88 with Jhené Aiko and Double or Nothing with Metro Boomin as well as the G.O.O.D. compilation project Cruel Summer.

Bryson Tiller & Drake’s “Outta Time” Collaboration Hits The Internet

Last night, Bryson Tiller hosted a listening session on Zoom for his fans. The singer-songwriter, also known as Pen Griffey, played records off his upcoming new album Anniversary.

One track, in particular, got a lot of attention online. Tiller teamed up with OVO superstar Drake for “Outta Time.” Of course, the song was leaked to the internet fairly quickly.

https://twitter.com/STRAPPEDEXTRAS4/status/1311497400326922241?s=20

“Outta time. Thank you all,” tweeted Tiller at 10:41 last night. About half an hour earlier, he posted, “I wanna dedicate this new album to my granny. I love you and I promise I’ll take care of everything you left behind.”

Anniversary will be Byron Tiller’s first full-length album since 2017’s True to Self. He recently dropped a deluxe version of his debut studio LP, Trapsoul, with four additional tracks.

Chrissy Teigen & John Legend Lose Baby Following Pregnancy Complications

Model/television personality Chrissy Teigen and Grammy-winning singer John Legend had to report some sad news to the world. The celebrity couple revealed that they lost their child following pregnancy complications.

Teigen posted on social media:

We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough. We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever. To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you. Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy, thoughts and prayers. We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you. We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience. But everyday can’t be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it.

Legend quote-tweeted his wife’s message and added, “We love you, Jack.” About 17 minutes later, Teigen tweeted, “Driving home from the hospital with no baby. How can this be real.” Previously, she gave birth to daughter Luna Simone, 4, and son Miles Theodore, 2.

Prosecutor Says Cardi B Could Lose Plea Deal Over Fight With 6ix9ine’s Girlfriend Jade

Cardi B recently received a warning from a Queens prosecutor that she could face a serious charge over a fight with two sisters in a strip club.

In August of 2018, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper was at Angels in Flushing, New York, when she got into an argument with Baddie Gi and Jade, who dates Tekashi 6ix9ine.

The sisters worked as bartenders at the establishment. At some point, words were exchanged, and someone in Cardi’s entourage threw a hookah pipe at them.

Prosecutors claim Cardi and her friend attacked the sisters and was ultimately charged with assault and reckless endangerment.

Cardi was offered a plea deal that would allow her to cop to a misdemeanor, but she has balked at the offer.

According to the New York Post, Assistant District Attorney Ryan Nicolosi said during a virtual hearing: “the People are offering for the last time an offer of a misdemeanor. We are not going to go lower than a misdemeanor.”

“We are again offering this misdemeanor,” he added. “But we cannot guarantee that that offer will be held open or offered again in the future. We all had many conversations regarding the possibility of a plea, what a plea could look like if any of the defendants were willing to take a plea. But it seems like there is not going to be a plea. There doesn’t seem to be a meeting of the minds.”

What sparked the altercation that has Cardi so much trouble?

Cardi believed that the sisters, Jade and Baddie Gi, had sex with her soon to be ex-husband, Migos frontman Offset.

The history-making rapper pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Daniel Cameron Asks for Extension to Release the Tapes of Him Telling Them NOT to Consider Murder Charges

Attorney General Daniel Cameron recently admitted that he told a jury not to consider murder charges for  the police who shot Breonna Taylor since they were “justified.”

This admission came during a Tuesday, September 29th interview with WDRB where he said the only charges that he recommended were against Louisville Metro Police officer Brett Hankison for wanton endangerment.

What he did tell the panel is that Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and Det. Myles Cosgrove were covered by Kentucky law when they entered Taylor’s home, breaking down her door and shooting her dead.

https://twitter.com/GoGoGoing/status/1311442947863384064?s=20

Cameron said, “Our recommendation was that Mattingly and Cosgrove were justified in their acts and their conduct.”

“Ultimately our judgment is that the charge that we could prove at trial beyond a reasonable doubt was for wanton endangerment against Mr. Hankison,” he continued. “They’re an independent body. If they wanted to make an assessment about different charges, they could have done that.”

This comes right before Daniel Cameron asked a judge for an extension to present the recordings from the Grand Jury proceeding, originally due to be released on Wednesday, September 30.

Cameron shared that he wanted to redact personal information from a witness. According to his office, the judge gave him a two-day extension.

Originally, Cameron told the public that the grand jury made their decision (without coaxing) after they heard the testimony of one witness that proved cops announced themselves before entering, even as 11 witnesses said that the police did not say anything.

That changed after an anonymous juror came forward, saying that he wanted permission to speak publicly about what was presented to them.

An attorney for the panelist wrote in a court filing, “The full story and absolute truth of how this matter was handled from beginning to end is now an issue of great public interest and has become a large part of the discussion of public trust throughout the country.”

“The attorney general publicly made many statements that referenced what the grand jury heard and decisions that were made based on what certain witnesses said,” he continued.

“He further laid those decisions at the feet of the grand jury while failing to answer specific questions regarding the charges presented,” it ended.

The world is anxiously awaiting to hear exactly what was said and to put on blast the AG for trying to flip the court to get the cops off.

Bryson Tiller Launches Billboard Campaign To Demand Justice For Breonna Taylor

Bryson Tiller is demanding justice for Breonna Taylor with billboards around his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

While Bryson had originally intended to use the billboards to promote his new album Anniversary, he decided to use them to pay tribute to Breonna just days after a grand jury decided not to charge a single police officer in direct connection to the 26-year-old EMT’s killing.

“Dear Breonna Taylor, you’ve brought the city of Louisville together like I’ve never seen before and we will never forget you… -Bryson Tiller,” one of the billboards reads, alongside hashtags including “#JusticeForBreonnaTaylor” and “#SayHerName”.

The ad campaign comes after Tiller reflected on the grand jury decision in a post on Twitter last week, recalling the amount of racism he himself had experienced while growing up in Kentucky.

“Been doing a lot of thinking about what’s going on in my hometown right now. The blatant racism that I’ve dealt with growing up in Kentucky, whether it was at Church Camp or School or just walking down the street and hearing people drive by and yell out racial slurs, i know exactly how it feels,” he wrote, while also sharing a picture of a painting of Taylor.

“A lot of us feel like we lost a sister and many of us feel like it was because of racism. And then you have the people who are condemning others based on how they feel which… doesn’t feel right at all. Truth is, all we wanted to see was the right thing be done and here we are feeling wronged once again. We love you Breonna. You brought the city together like i’ve never seen before. Rest easy Queen we will NEVER forget you & will continue to fight for you!”

Ice Cube Raises Eyebrows With Trump, Biden & Proud Boys Comments

After the debate, I thought I would have heard a lot from Ice Cube. But according to a single tweet, it wasn’t apparent that Cube had a lot to say OR he just didn’t see the debate. At any rate, the West Coast overlord has people talking about what he’s not seeing with regard to the debate. Joe Biden and Donald Trump were embroiled in a squabble of epic proportions last night which was supposed to be a presidential debate on the issues facing the United States of America. It turned out to be one big colossal mess! One would expect someone as overtly active in getting folks to recognize the power of the Black vote would have more to say than this:

Ice Cube talks Joe Biden Donald Trump debate
Ice Cube made it seem like the Proud Boys were just a regular racist group. And that Donald Trump and Joe Biden were just two presidential guys vying for the leadership of the country. But this is not the same ol’ same ol’, as evidenced by the year 2020. This is a special year with special circumstances and a lot is on the line for your average everyday person, which O’Shea Jackson is not. He’s a damn LORD – READ: “Lord” Ice Cube Could Now Be Repping Scotland With Land Purchase!

So, I am hopeful Ice Cube will come from the castle and holler at some of us because our views are very different from his views. And our needs are much different than a multi-millionaire rapper and actor. By the way, here is Ice Cube’s Federal Plan For Black America.

RAPPERS! The IRS Probably Has A Hip-Hop Task Force Looking At You At All Times!

The IRS ((Internal Revenue Service) has a task force similar to old New York and the Hip Hop police, according to sources. Remember back in the day, when 50 Cent and G-Unit were very, very hot, and the Hip-Hop cops were all over the place? If you don’t then you’re probably under 30 years old but those of us that know, know.

We love you so I got some insider information that the IRS is constantly looking at rap artists’ social media to estimate how much money they are making. They also study where rappers go all over the world. When they tour, there are ways to reasonably estimate how much money they make per show. So the IRS is constantly looking and observing and estimating roughly what a rapper makes so that when they report back their earnings, it better be realistic. Also, if you are holding the money phone to your head or laying out large sums of money and bragging to ordinary people how much money you make, remember you are also putting that on display for the alleged IRS Hip-Hop Task Force.

Now those who don’t know how the IRS gets down need to look no further than Donald Trump. Because when you are wealthy and have millions to spend in accountants and lawyers, you are able to successfully and probably legally evade taxes. But rappers don’t do that, nor do they hold the investment and real estate portfolio that the president has so you are likely to be food for the IRS if you aren’t smart. My source said Trump will die, literally, before they have time to comb through all of the paperwork associated with his billions.

On top of that, we have seen rappers like DMX actually go to jail on some tax sh*t for much less, you know. DMX doesn’t flaunt wealth or anything like that on the Internet, but the IRS certainly was on top of it when he violated the law. Snd he served some time because of it. And historically there have been numerous other examples of the IRS taking people stuff until they were broken. Don’t be a fool take it from your boy illseed, the IRS is coming for you! Take the money from your ear! Don’t get audited!

Lil Baby Plans To Avoid Politics And Stick To The Music

Rising rapper Lil Baby wants to stick to music rather than politics as he doesn’t see himself as a Malcolm X or Martin Luther King figure.

The 25-year-old made a musical intervention following the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minneapolis, Minnesota in May by releasing the track “The Bigger Picture.”

The song gained extra poignancy after another Black man, Rayshard Brooks was killed by police in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.

Brook’s death prompted protests and resulted in the burning of a Wendy’s restaurant. Lil Baby’s track became an anthem due to lyrics like, “You can’t fight fire with fire, I know, but at least we can turn up the flames some.”

Lil Baby initially offered to work with Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms on police reform, but deleted his tweeted offer and now says he’s going to avoid politics.

“The more I’m seeing what’s up with all that s##t, the more I’m like, ‘Let me back up off politics,'” he told GQ magazine. “I don’t want to be no Malcolm X or Martin Luther (King)…. I stuck my nose in it. I’m good on that.”

Baby, real name Dominique Armani Jones, has also had his fingers burned by politics as Paul Howard, the District Attorney who jailed him in 2014, on charges relating to marijuana dealing, claimed the rapper had endorsed him in his fiercely fought, but unsuccessful primary race.

The Hip-Hop star denies endorsing Howard, saying, “Paul Howard sent me to prison,” but reveals he did meet up with the prosecutor to discuss justice reform.

“If I can sit at a table and really talk to you like I’m human, versus the politics and you in that courtroom, you really might come to reality versus you sending n##### g###### down the road for 500 years,” he adds.

Howard lost his primary race in August, and will not fight November’s election.

The Proud Boys Said Trump ‘Basically Said to Go F**k  Them Up’ … Who are the ‘Them?’

After dancing around a question to denounce racism, President Trump finally told the white supremacists group the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by.”

The extreme right-wing group took the comment, given during the first presidential debate during this 2020 election season, as a directive from their Commander in Chief.

Moderator Chris Wallace asked the president to directly repudiate white supremacy and ask those who practice ethnic or race base hate to “stand down” during the Tuesday night debate.

READ MORE: Chuck D. Explains Why President Trump Is A Long-Running Joke

Playing coy, 45 quipped “Give me a name,” to which the former Vice President and the Democratic nominee Joe Biden immediately offered, “The Proud Boys.”

While he did not denounce the group or any other white supremacists group, he did manage to do the bare minimum and flip it his critique back to the extreme far left.

“Proud Boys, stand back and stand by, but I’ll tell you what, somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left because this is not a right-wing problem. This is a left-wing problem.”

However, upon hearing this the Proud Boys took this as a mark of validation, allegedly commenting in their private social media groups on platforms like the messaging app Telegram, that this was a “historic” moment for their movement.

READ MORE: President Trump Has Paid Almost Nothing In Taxes In Two Decades!

The account on Telegram posted, “Standing down and standing by sir,” as it posted additional videos of white men seemingly answering the call and celebrating their inclusion on this national stage, by who many believe is the most powerful white man in the “free world.”

The president played like he is not connected to this group, but Joe Biggs, a principal Proud Boys organizer believes that Trump was saying to them to “basically said to go f**k  them up.” Adding, “this makes me so happy.”

Writing in a caption, “President Trump told the proud boys to stand by because someone needs to deal with ANTIFA… well sir! we’re ready!!”

After the debate, candidate Biden posted on Twitter evidence of these online conversations and how the president’s veiled remarks were more like a dog-whistle to this unamerican. He wrote, “This. This is Donald Trump’s America.”

There was some support for the Proud Boys, even from people of color who claim that the group is Christian-based.

Nelly Talks Upcoming Country-Influenced Album ‘Heartland’

Nelly burst onto the music scene in the year 2000 with his debut album Country Grammar. The St. Louis, Missouri native later connected with Country singer Tim McGraw for the Platinum-certified single “Over and Over.”

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3htOCjafTc[/embedyt]

It appears Cornell Haynes Jr. is ready to go deeper into his Country music bag for his next album. On the Tuesday episode of The Tamron Hall Show, Nelly discussed putting together a project tentatively titled Heartland.

“I don’t call it a Country album. I call it Country-influenced because I definitely want to respect all those whose Country is their field, this is what they do. So, I just don’t think that Nelly’s going to wake up one day and make a Country album and even though the Country community has embraced me so much, even starting with the Tim McGraw [song] when a lot of people thought I was crazy when I say that that’s what I wanted to do,” said Nelly.

The Dancing with the Stars contestant added, “Even moving on with FGL and Kane Brown and Jimmy Allen and a host of other people that I’ve been very fortunate to work with in that field. But I think it’s one of those albums where I have so much love in that field that I’m doing something from my heart, that we call from the heartland, and it’s basically Country-influenced though. I like to say that.”

Frank Ocean Blasts Donald Trump & Launches Voting Registration Website

Frank Ocean is known to be an elusive and restrained public figure. Outside of lyrics on projects like Channel Orange and Blonde, he very rarely shares his personal thoughts.

However, the R&B singer is letting it be known he is not a supporter of the current POTUS. Ocean took to his Instagram Stories to comment about last night’s presidential debate between Republican President Donald Trump and Democratic former Vice President Joe Biden.

“Debates are on. It all feels fake. The problem’s that it’s not,” wrote Ocean. “Donald is president and might not leave the White House even if he loses the race so some say. [Please] vote. Watching him dragged out will be way more entertaining than these debates.”

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oR8oIitE6mI[/embedyt]

Trump has repeatedly refused to agree to a peaceful transfer of power if he is not reelected on November 3. That refusal to adhere to a nonviolent presidential transition has alarmed many politicians, pundits, and voters. Trump currently trails Biden by 6 points in the national polls, according to the RealClearPolitics average.

Ocean added on IG, “If you’re not registered swipe up to Blonde.co the form just takes 2 minutes to fill out. Goodnight.” The Grammy winner’s Blonded website provides an online voter registration form. The site also has vote.org links for American citizens to check their registration status, view an early voting calendar, request an absentee ballot, and sign up for election reminders.

EXCLUSIVE: Quando Rondo Gets Sued For Spitting In A Fan’s Face

Rapper Quando Rondo was with a lawsuit stemming from a gross incident that went viral two years ago.

The shocking incident occurred on December 21st, 2018, during an all-age show called the “2K18 Holiday Jam” at the Florence Civic center in South Carolina with label mate NBA Youngboy.

Quando Rondo hopped in the crowd but somehow ended up in an altercation with a female fan named Jada Mya Wise. Jada, who was 16 at the time, got into it with Quando Rondo, and he ended up spitting in her face.

During a follow-up Post in response to the outcry surrounding the video, Quando Rondo admitted to spitting on the woman, who he said spat at him first.

After the show, Quando Rondo hopped on his Instagram and addressed the issue, and admitted he spit on the teen, but she supposedly spit on him first.

Now almost two years later, Quando Rondo, born Tyquan Terrel Bowman, is going to have to answer for his actions.

Jada Mya Wise is suing the rapper for publicly defaming, embarrassing, and humiliating her by posting the message to his 200,000 followers at the time of the incident.

“[Quando Rondo’s] conduct was so extreme and outrageous, to exceed all possible bounds of decency, it is considered atrocious and utterly intolerable in a civilized community,” her lawsuit reads. [Jada Mya Wise] sustained severe emotional distress as a result of [Quando Rondo’s] acts.”

Jada Mya Wise said after Quando Rondo called her out on IG, her emotional distress was “so severe that no reasonable person could be expected to endure it,” according to the complaint.

Quando Rondo has a few weeks left to reply, or the Judge overseeing the case is going to declare a default judgment in favor of Jada Mya Wise.

Wise is also suing Victory Promotions, Staff-1 Services Group, and the Florence Center.
