Lil Durk Brushes Off Concert Chaos After False Active Shooter Report Ends Summer Jam Early

Rapper Lil Durk’s concert at the United Center was abruptly halted Saturday night following a false report of an active shooter.

As panic ensued, attendees rushed for the exits, leading to a chaotic scene. The Chicago Police Department later confirmed that the report was a false alarm.

According to TMZ, the United Center stated they are collaborating with authorities to investigate the incidents from the WGCI Summer Jam show.

“We are working closely with authorities to investigate all incidents from last evening at the WGCI Summer Jam show. It became apparent for all involved that ending the show early was in everyone’s best interest as the safety of our guests and employees is a priority. We are thankful that initial incident reports were false and that guests exited the facility safely,” a rep said in a statement.

As some concertgoers left the venue, they seized the opportunity to grab merchandise, with Lil Durk later acknowledging these fans on social media. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

Despite the disruption, Lil Durk took to social media, urging fans not to “believe the hype” and expressing gratitude to Chicago.

He also humorously addressed those who took merchandise during the commotion, asking them to tag him so he could repost their actions.

Chuck D Calls For Kidd Creole’s Prison Release During “RAPAMANIA” Hip-Hop 50 Showcase

Hip-Hop celebrated its 50th anniversary on Friday (August 11) with a slew of block parties that touched every borough in New York City. Beginning at 12 p.m. ET, Mill Pond Park in the Bronx—the same area where the Universal Hip-Hop Museum will open its doors in 2025—erupted with pillars and purveyors of the culture eager to participate in the momentous occasion.

Following a champagne toast at the museum’s future site—attended by Walker Wear founder April Walker, famed photographers Glen E. Friedman, Martha Cooper and Vikki Tobak, DJ Chuck Chillout, original Def Jam Recordings president Bill Stephney, Def Jam’s first publicist Bill Adler, Chuck D, Flavor Flav, MC Shan, Coke La Rock and dozens of others—everyone headed over to the park for Van Silk’s “RAPAMANIA” showcase.

Sponsored by Red Bull BC One, the UHH and AARP, the event boasted art by graffiti legends such as Lady Pink and Queen Andrea, a b-boy open cypher and music by Fearless 4, Freedom Williams, Sweet Tee and many more. One of the highlights included a performance from Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Melle Mell and Scorpio, who converged for a medley of classic rap anthems, including “The Message” (Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five) and “Fight The Power” (Public Enemy).

“This event was historical and celebrated 50 years of Hip-Hop,” organizer Van Silk tells AllHipHop. “To have 27 acts perform, including Public Enemy, Melle Mel and Scorpio (Furious 5) was historical. Along with the Universal Hip Hop Museum, Red Bull and AARP, we did it. The culture of Hip-Hop will only evolve if you represent Hip-Hop. Being a rapper in today music is not really Hip-Hop. But times change and it is what it has become.”

At one point, Chuck D—who was mobbed by people wanting to get their photo taken with the Public Enemy frontman—addressed the crowd. He delivered an impassioned plea to “free Kidd Creole.” The Kidd Creole (real name Nathanial Glover), one of the original members of the Furious Five and Melle Mel’s brother, was arrested for the 2017 fatal stabbing of a homeless man named John Jolly. In May 2022, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison, a sentence many deemed entirely too harsh. Creole was convicted of first-degree manslaughter, roughly four years after his initial arrest.

Attorney Scottie Celestin vowed to begin the appeal process. As he told Rolling Stone at the time, “I think today’s sentence is egregious and extreme. While I am disappointed, I continue to have faith in our judicial system. My focus is now on the appeal process. There are many appealable issues, specifically the denial of Mr. Glover being able to assert the justification of self-defense, despite the fact that he was retreating and the victim followed behind him.

“While some may be happy with the the presumed victory of the acquittal on the top charge of Murder, we don’t view it as win. I believe the 16 years given are heavy handed, and motivated not by the evidence and mitigating facts but by external factors.”

Kidd Creole was on his way to work when the violent run-in with Jolly took place. He told police, “He approached me. I got a little nervous. So then I tried to back up a little bit, and he moved forward, and then I just took the knife and stabbed him … I wish I never would have seen him. It’s all my fault, because I chose to stab him. I have to take responsibility for that.”

Celestin has always maintained Kidd Creole acted in self-defense and believed “his fear for his life was reasonable.” There were also various accounts suggesting Jolly didn’t actually die from the stab wounds. Instead, some think he died from a dose of the sedative benzodiazepine that was given to him at a hospital. There’s no update on whether the appeal process has begun.

Busta Rhymes Says Hip-Hop Helped Him Become A Man

Busta Rhymes has explained how Hip-Hop and becoming a father helped him become a man.

During an interview with Men’s Health, the 51-year-old rapper opened up about how Hip-Hop, as well as becoming a father, “forced” him into “becoming a man.”

“I was the youngest in Leaders to have a child,” the rapper said, referring to the New York-based Hip-Hop group Leaders of the New School, which he joined in 1986. “That forced me to understand the seriousness of what becoming a man was.”

The musician welcomed his first son, T’Ziah, now 30, in 1993 with his ex-girlfriend Joanne Wood. Since then, he has had four more children; Mariah, 25, T’Khi, 24, Cacie, 24, and Trillian, 22.

“Hip-Hop provided the means for me to be a man, a father. The bittersweet part was that Hip-Hop demanded time away from my baby,” Rhymes, real name Trevor Smith Jr., continued. “In order to be a good provider, I had to miss magical moments with my baby.”

Busta Rhymes noted that he did not have the skills to get a 9-5 job to support his child.

“My skill set wouldn’t allow me to be home with my child and still be able to provide in the way that they needed to be provided for, right?” he explained. “I didn’t have a nine-to-five skill set. Being able to wake my son up, give him breakfast, dress him, take him to school, go to work, come home at five, help with his homework, read him a bedtime story – I didn’t have a skill set that allowed me to deliver in that way.”

Leaders of the New School split up in 1994.

EXCLUSIVE: Breakdancing Legend Crazy Legs Reveals Why He’s Retiring

Hip-Hop pioneer Richard “Crazy Legs” Colón explained why he’s retiring from breakdancing in an interview with AllHipHop. The legendary b-boy said years of wear and tear from dancing finally caught up to him.

“I do the element of Hip-Hop that your body dictates when it’s over,” he told AllHipHop. “It’s the only element in Hip-Hop your body says it’s done, you’re done. So, I actually have to get a knee replacement surgery. I’m 57, bro. I’m not trying to be out here getting hurt. I get hurt easier. It takes longer to heal, all that s###.”

Crazy Legs performed for the final time at Hip-Hop 50 Live at Yankee Stadium. The longtime Yankees fan loved the idea of ending his career at the team’s ballpark.

“I just felt like it was a good opportunity to be on a stage within the world that I wanted to be in in the first place,” he said. “When I was a kid, I wanted to be a boxer or baseball player … I wanted to be on the Yankees … So, for me to end up where I really wanted to be in the first place for my last show is pretty dope.”

EXCLUSIVE: Mo3 Estate Says Engineer Stole Unreleased Vocals & Refuses To Turn Over Tracks To Estate

The estate of the late Texas rapper Mo3 is locked in a tense legal standoff with recording engineer Ray Gene Bollin.

At the heart of this dispute lies a cache of unreleased vocal tracks, which Bollin allegedly refuses to relinquish, coupled with his audacious attempts to monetize them, according to the lawyer repping Mo3’s estate, R. Buck McKinney.

Mo3 met an untimely demise in November 2020 after being shot and killed on the R.L. Thornton Freeway in Dallas, Texas, in a brazen daylight shooting. A man named Kewon Dontrell White was eventually collared and charged with murder.

Despite his early death, Mo3 left behind a lucrative body of work. His 2013 debut single, “Hold Ya Tongue,” amassed almost 10 million views on YouTube. This success led to the birth of his record label, “H$M Music,” and affiliations with the San Francisco-based record label Empire Distribution.

Ray Gene Bollin, now at the epicenter of the controversy, owns the North Texas digital recording studio Absolut Production Recording Studios.

Mo3 frequently recorded at Bollin’s studio. However, the estate emphasizes that Bollin’s involvement was purely technical, saying that his role during recording sessions was limited to “setting up a microphone and pushing the record button,” all under Mo3’s “specific direction, guidance, and control.”

In October 2020, one month before his death, Mo3 instructed his manager to retrieve all his music files from Absolut Studios. Bollin had initially concurred. But following Mo3’s death, the onus to recover these files shifted to a court-appointed administrator, Daniel L. White, Esq.

The estate portrays Bollin’s posthumous behavior as evasive and opportunistic.

While he initially conveyed sympathy and assured the family of returning the music files, he soon became elusive. When he did resurface, he changed his tune, asserting he would only release the files to the estate’s administrator.

Mo3’s mother, Nichole Noble, says Bollin had the nerve to send her a Mother’s Day text to which she replied: “If you want to [make] me happy please give me my son’s music. I am having to go through too much as is.”

McKinney said Bollin’s response was cold and calculated: “Peace Nichole. I would like to give you the files, however there is some unfinished business,” the lawyer explained.

Bollin’s audacity became even more evident when he approached Empire with a proposal to “sell” a series of unreleased Mo3 recordings.

Initially claiming unpaid studio fees of $10,000 to $20,000, Bollin’s demands soon ballooned. He sought over $600,000 in “licensing fees” for previously released songs, a 25% royalty interest, and other compensations.

The estate’s perspective is unequivocal. They view Bollin as an “opportunistic interloper,” aiming for a multi-million-dollar windfall from recordings that are integral to Mo3’s legacy.

Kim Kardashian Breaks Her Shoulder & Tears Tendon

Kim Kardashian recently disclosed that she fractured her shoulder.

Sharing the news on an Instagram Story, the entrepreneur behind SKIMS informed her followers that her gym absence was due to a shoulder injury sustained “a few weeks” prior.

“I broke my shoulder and tore my tendon so I’ve been out of the gym a few weeks but I’m back!” she captioned a video of her reuniting with her personal trainer, Melissa Alcantara.

She further shared, “Melissa had the same thing happen to her, so we’re starting our rehabbing today and our workouts ’cause I’ve got to get back in the gym. Nothing’s gonna keep me down.”

The 42-year-old Kim didn’t share details about how the injury occurred.

Kim Kardashian began her fitness journey with Melissa in 2017, shortly after the birth of her son, Saint with rapper Kanye West.

Reflecting on her motivation, Kim mentioned in an episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” “I’m going to start a really crazy diet. I was looking on Instagram and this body builder popped up on my page and she had gained 70 pounds in her pregnancy,” Kim recalled.

“Melissa is a trainer I found. She’s super inspiring to me and I really want to meet up with her and see if she could train me. She could help direct my food and really get me on an amazing path…If I was 10 per cent like her, it would be life-changing. Like my whole arms and back. It’s mostly food. I gotta have this lifestyle. I gotta try.”

Melle Mel Admits His Eminem Diss Track “Fell Short In Its Execution”

Hip-Hop trailblazer Melle Mel of the Furious Five has issued a statement regarding his recent Eminem diss. On Saturday (August 12), as New York City continued its Hip-Hop 50 celebrations across all boroughs, Melle Mel more or less apologized for his response to Eminem, which was mercilessly ridiculed online.

“In light of the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop, my original intention was to contribute an engaging and enjoyable endeavor to enrich the cultural landscape,” the statement, sent to AllHipHop,  reads. “Regrettably, my response fell short in its execution, and I accept full responsibility for the misjudgment. I acknowledge that my perspective was ill-conceived and I am prepared to take ownership of this oversight. It has become evident that Eminem’s dedicated and passionate fan base stands unwaveringly by his side, which is a testament to their genuine admiration and loyalty—a truly commendable aspect.”

The back-and-forth began in March when Melle Mel told the Art of Dialogue that Eminem wouldn’t top anyone’s Top 5 list if he wasn’t white, something he also addressed.

“From the onset, I have consistently recognized Eminem’s exception prowess as an emcee, without reservation,” he continued. “My unfortunate choice of words, suggesting that his success is solely attributed to the color of his skin was in no way reflective of my genuine beliefs. It was an attempt, albeit misguided, to engage competitively within the emcee sphere.

“It is important to acknowledge that the dynamics of Hip-Hop have evolved over distinct eras, and it is inevitable that not everyone will resonate with my perspective, just as I may not fully comprehend others. Throughout my involvement in shaping the Hip-Hop landscape, the cornerstone has been built upon a foundation of mutual respect, even when personal preferences may differ.”

The statement arrived just hours after Melle Mel and fellow Furious Five member Scorpio performed both at a Universal Hip-Hop Museum event at Mill Pond Park in the Bronx and at Yankee Stadium on Friday (August 11), Hip-Hop’s official 50th anniversary. It also followed Rahiem’s apology to his Furious Five brethren Melle Mel and Scorpio, which likely influenced his decision to make peace.

“Moving forward, my paramount commitment is to foster an environment characterized by respect in every facet of my endeavors,” he added. “With utmost sincerity, I convey my best wishes and extend heartfelt appreciation to Eminem for the recognition extended to me during his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction speech.

“In conclusion, I am keenly aware that Hip-Hop encompasses diverse epochs, and my objective remains focused on promoting a spirit of respect, as we collectively celebrate the 50th anniversary of this influential cultural phenomenon.”

Eminem waited four months to respond to Melle Mel’s controversial interview, but his comments arrived via EZ Mil’s latest single, “Realest” in which he spits, “I’m only Top 5 ’cause I’m white […] my skin color’s still working against me.” He continued, “Shoutout to Furious Five and Grandmaster Flash, but boy/There’s someone who really is furious/ Stay out his path, his wrath avoid/ I’ll be the last to toy with a juice head whose brain is half destroyed, like a meteor hit it/ Now with Melle Mel, he lost his ass to ‘roids.”

Melle Mel fired back but evidently feels it didn’t measure up. Revisit it below.

Boosie Badazz Gets More Bad News In San Diego Gun Case

Boosie Badazz has just received some bad news regarding his recent gun charge. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, a San Diego judge has denied his request to have the weapons charge dismissed. His attorney tried to use his constitutional right to bear arms, granted in the 2nd Amendment as a viable reason for the case to be dropped.

His lawyers went on to invoke the Supreme Court’s landmark 2022 Bruen decision, which states that it’s unconstitutional to prohibit a convicted non-violent felon from possessing a firearm.

The judge decided there’s no past example in the Southern District of California or the 9th Circuit that supports allowing people with criminal records to have guns and go against existing laws that control this.

“Nothing in Mr. Hatch’s motion persuades this Court that these holdings are incorrect or that the Court otherwise has the right to disregard binding Ninth Circuit precedent here,” District Judge Cathy Bencivengo wrote in her order denying the musician’s motion.

This isn’t the first time his lawyers have said the courts violated his constitutional rights. As previously, reported, Boosie said his First Amendment rights were violated because he galvanized his supporters online and talked about the criminal justice system on social media.

His attorney Damon Alimouri said he believes his client is being singled out because he’s famous. He also said the recording artist’s big voice is an issue for the court.

“I think some of this has to do that he’s quote outspoken on social media,” Alimouri said. “Ultimately, Boosie has a First Amendment right.”

EXCLUSIVE: Nicki Minaj’s Husband’s Past Could Haunt Him As Rape Accuser Submits Shocking Evidence In Lawsuit

Jennifer Hough is seeking to amend her complaint against Kenneth Petty, husband of rap superstar Nicki Minaj, in an ongoing legal battle centered around a rape incident in 1994.

Hough alleges that Petty, who had previously pleaded guilty to attempted rape in the case, violated his plea deal’s terms for allegedly intimidating or harassing her.

Hough claims she has been living in constant fear due to intimidation, harassment, and threats from Petty and his associates after she refused a cash offer to recant her claims so he could be removed from the National Sex Offender Registry.

Hough’s move to amend her complaint and introduce new evidence aims to strengthen her case against Petty, asserting that the proof provided by the Queens District Attorney’s Office from the incident in 1994 only supports her claims.

After reviewing long-awaited records from the incident, Hough aims to bolster her case by adding a cause of action for attempted rape and according to court documents obtained by AllHipHop.

When someone files a lawsuit, they typically include one or more causes of action in their complaint, the initial legal document that starts the case. Each cause of action outlines the specific elements that must be proven to establish the defendant’s liability and the plaintiff’s right to a legal remedy, such as monetary damages.

The evidence submitted by Hough includes chilling exhibits such as photographs of the knife used during the incident, images of the room where she alleges the assault occurred, bruises on her side, and pictures of her neck where she claims Petty choked her.

Additionally, the evidence includes legal documents related to Petty’s arrest and plea and social media posts allegedly tied to Petty and his associates.

While Nicki Minaj has been dismissed from the lawsuit, the legal battle between Hough and Petty continues as the court reviews the shocking old evidence.

Grimes Gushes About Lizzo & Her Kindness Following Fat-Shaming & Abuse Claims

Lizzo, the acclaimed “Truth Hurts” artist, has recently been embroiled in a whirlwind of controversy.

The fuss began when Lizzo’s ex-dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, filed a lawsuit against her, her production company, and dance captain Shirlene Quigley.

The dancers alleged that they faced a hostile work environment filled with abuse, racial discrimination, sexual harassment, weight shaming, and more during their tenure with Lizzo.

As accusations against Lizzo continue to mount, Grimes, also known as Claire Elise Boucher, took a moment to highlight the consistent kindness she’s observed from Lizzo over the years.

Grimes shared on X/Twitter, “Lizzo was kind to me and others for a decade before she was ‘cool’, and she checked in on me when no one cared. I’ve only ever seen exemplary behavior from her, especially when everyone was hating on me and she was on top of the world. There was no reason for her to check in, besides to be a good person. Just my two cents.”

Lizzo, in her defense, has categorically denied any wrongdoing.

She stated, “Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations, but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed. These sensationalized stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.”

Following this lawsuit, several more individuals have come forward with allegations against Lizzo.

Ron Zambrano, the attorney representing the three dancers, mentioned that his firm is currently vetting additional allegations that emerged after the initial lawsuit was filed.

The new set of allegations primarily come from individuals who toured with Lizzo and those who worked on the reality series “Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.”

Zambrano stated, “We have received at least six inquiries from other people with similar stories since we filed the complaint. Noelle, Crystal, and Arianna have bravely spoken out and shared their experiences, opening the door for others to feel empowered to do the same. Some of the claims we are reviewing involve allegations of a sexually charged environment and failure to pay employees. However, it’s too early to determine their validity.”

Foot Locker Allegedly Refuses To Sell Yeezys Out Of Fear Of PR Nightmare

AllHipHop.com previously reported that Adidas started selling the surplus of Kanye West’s Yeezy sneakers and that when they threw them online, the kicks were flying off the shelf.

Since that successful experience, which produced $565 million in profit and a portion will be allocated to be given away to charity, the brand reached out to some retailers hoping they would join them and sell the rest, according to the New York Post.

Foot Locker, one of the largest franchise sneaker retailers in the country, said they would not be helping. They were joined by other sneaker stores, all staying away from selling the very popular Yeezy line.

One of the issues was that they were afraid of the backlash they might receive because of all the antisemitic hate speech he spewed in 2022. The Foot Locker executives said the public relations kickback might be too overwhelming.

The other issue is that Foot Locker doesn’t want to integrate the charity aspect into their business model.

The German apparel company has already given up to $9 million to five charities, including the Anti-Defamation League, Kraft’s Foundation to Combat Antisemitism, and the Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change, founded by George Floyd’.

Foot Locker has not publicly made a statement about their concerns.

YSL Defendant Allegedly Used Lawyer’s Computer To Communicate With Disgraced Court Deputy

A judge ruled on Friday (August 11) that law enforcement could search the laptop of defense attorney Eric Johnson after one of the Young Slime Life defendants used Instagram to communicate with a courthouse deputy.

A warrant accuses Christian Eppinger of using Instagram to communicate with a courthouse deputy, Akeiba Stanley, with whom he allegedly had a romantic relationship.

Stanley was dismissed from her position and arrested two days post the laptop’s seizure. She was charged with several offenses, including conspiracy to commit a felony and violating her oath of office.

She was released on a $70,000 bond last month. The decision came after Fulton County deputies seized Johnson’s laptop during jury selection earlier this year.

Johnson is representing Eppinger, who is one of the 28 individuals charged in the extensive racketeering indictment against Atlanta rapper Young Thug and others, had requested the suppression of the search warrant and the return of his laptop.

However, Chief Judge Ural Glanville found that the sheriff’s office had enough probable cause to ask for a warrant.

This was based on suspicions that Johnson permitted his client to use the laptop for Instagram communications after deputies took pictures of him using the social media platform in open court.

It was noted that since jury selection began in January, defendants have been using their attorneys’ computers. However, they are only supposed to review evidence in preparation for the trial.

Judge Glanville also appointed a special master to supervise the search of Johnson’s laptop to establish guidelines, especially since the laptop might hold confidential attorney-client details.

Kodak Black Skips Hearing Over 2022 Oxycodone Arrest

Kodak Black reportedly didn’t appear in court on Friday (August 12) for his hearing regarding a 2022 drug bust.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, the rapper’s attorney stood before the judge on his behalf, answering questions regarding the nature of the pills that were found on him.

As previously reported, the Florida recording artist was arrested on July 15, 2022 after authorities found 31 pills and $75,000 in cash on his person when they detained him during a traffic stop in Fort Lauderdale.

Law enforcement said the pills were oxycodone and assumed he intended to sell them, leading to a trafficking charge.

Defense lawyer Bradford Cohen argued he learned that two of those pills tested positive as the common over-the-counter drug acetaminophen, Tylenol and that the rest of the 29 were the prescription opioid. Oxycodone should only be sold by a physician.

The “Super Gremlin” artist actually has a prescription for the pills cops discovered in 2021. After the arrest, the lawyer made sure he mentioned that to the press.

While he brought up the Tylenol, he didn’t suggest at the time that he would challenge the admissibility of that evidence. The presiding just Broward Circuit Judge Barbara Duffy set the rapper’s next court date for October 27.

Nas Brings Out Lauryn Hill For Star-Studded Hip-Hop 50 Celebration At Yankee Stadium

Hip-Hop celebrated its 50th birthday on Friday (August 11), the same day in 1973 DJ Kool Herc and his sister Cindy Campbell threw their iconic Back to School Jam at 1520 Sedgwick in the Bronx. A massive lineup of artists—both foundational and representing the future—hit the Yankee Stadium stage Friday night for more than 40,000 people. Presented by Live Nation, Mass Appeal and the New York Yankees, the event boasted performances by the Sugarhill Gang, Kurtis Blow, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Ice Cube, Fat Joe and dozens of others.

Nas, who co-founded Mass Appeal with label head Peter Bittenbender in 1996, was among the scheduled headliners. As the concert crossed the six-hour mark, the Queensbridge native descended on the historic stadium with live renditions of some of his biggest hits, including “One Mic” and “Shoot ‘Em Up.” But it was his performance of “If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)” from his 1996 album, It Was Written, that had the audience completely entranced. Dressed in a fluffy pink blazer, beaded braids, a blue Yankees hat and giant platform heels, Lauryn Hill stepped on stage to an unsuspecting  crowd to perform alongside Nas. After finishing “If I Ruled The World,” she went into Fugees’ “Ready or Not” and “Killing Me Softly” as well as her own solo single “Doo Wop (That Thing).”

The two MCs shared a hug before Hill exited the stage, a symbol of their 30-year friendship. “If I Ruled The World” featuring Lauryn Hill marked Hill’s first musical appearance outside of the Fugees. The single reached No. 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while also peaking in the Top 20 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. It was later nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award in the Best Rap Solo Performance category.

Nas brought Hill out of semi-retirement again for the King’s Disease II single “Nobody,” another track that showed off the duo’s musical chemistry.  As for Yankee Stadium, Run-DMC closed out the exhaustive event for what they billed as “The Ninth Inning…The Walk Off,” their final performance as duo. Raashaun “DJ Envy” Casey is pushing back against the online narrative that he took part in a fraud scheme. The Breakfast Club host has reportedly filed a defamation lawsuit against Anthony “Tony The Closer” Robinson.

According to reports, DJ Envy sued Tony Robinson, claiming the former NFL player spread false information about him on the internet. Robinson allegedly referred to Envy as a “scammer” over reports of another lawsuit.

A group of investors seeks compensation from DJ Envy and his business associate, real estate advisor Cesar Pinas. The plaintiffs accuse Envy, Pina, and his wife, Jennifer Pinas, of defrauding them out of millions of dollars. Tony Robinson spoke to Envy about that legal situation and supposedly shared the recorded conversation on social media.

DJ Envy Reportedly Claims Tony Robinson Tried To Present Him As A Criminal

“I honestly don’t know, that’s between them and whatever happened,” DJ Envy told Robinson. “But did I say, ‘There, take this money and give it to this person or do this with this money?’ I never did.”

He continued, “If you ever came to my seminar, I tell everybody, ‘Everybody on this stage, whether it’s credit, prepare, or it’s a conventional lender, do your homework because I don’t trust anybody.’ If you’ve been to my seminars, I say that a million times.”

DJ Envy’s suit reportedly accuses Robinson of illegally posting the telephone call to present him as a criminal. The veteran radio personality’s legal team wants unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.

“The Closer” Refers To Envy’s Lawsuit As A Bullying Tactic

Tony Robinson responded to the lawsuit on Twitter. On August 10, he posted, “First they tried to send goons to my crib to silence me from telling the victims story now they trying to bully me in court!! Naw you won’t push me around as you let your partner steal millions from the community.”

The following day, Robinson added, “DJ Envy brought a convicted scammer and drug dealer on Breakfast Club gave him credibility now that flipping [New Jersey] has now scammed millions of dollars over 25 million and counting… from investors DJ Envy wants to act like he ain’t got nothing to do with it. 😑.”

In addition, DJ Envy recently accused Florida rapper Gunplay of foul play by posting their private dialogue. The Hampton University graduate stated on the air, “It is against the law to record somebody’s phone conversation and not tell them. That’s against the law.”

2Pac, H.E.R. & Ice Cube Are Among Artists Gen-Z Kids Apparently Don’t Know

While it’s apparent Hip-Hop celebrates its 50th birthday this year, both veteran and emerging acts such as H.E.R. and Ice Cube appear to succumbing to a generational gap.

A somewhat shocking viral TikTok video circulating has highlighted the unsettling fact that Gen-Z teens are damn near unaware of both the artists and music they’ve been surrounded by most of their lives. The clip in question captures an educator catching her students off guard by quizzing them about the recording artists emblazoned on their shirts. Of course, the kiddos who are rocking the dime-a-dozen band tee’s like AC/DC and Pink Floyd get the benefit of the doubt—because I’m not gonna sit here and act like I knew Metallica made “Enter Sandman” for any reasons other than I played skateboarding and video games as a kid.

But my jaw dropped when the young girl couldn’t name a H.E.R. song even if her life was on the line. While one other girl managed to rifle off “California Love” when asked about 2Pac, multiple others appeared clueless when asked about his catalog and a young man appeared unabashedly unbothered when failing to name a song by Aaliyah.

Does the radio station no longer spam songs such as “Rock The Boat” and “Ambitionz Az A Ridah” during the nighttime mixes? Or is it possible that artists such as Yeat and Lil Uzi Vert have the youth and their ears in a chokehold? No matter what the deal is, the writing is on the wall—us ’90s babies are really getting up there these days!
